@christine-angela-brailsford It’s been hot here in Pennsylvania too. Hottest summer in a few years. We spend a lot of time inside. Being retired, I don’t have to go outside and I like that. Fans and air conditioning come in handy.

    • Hi Lyn, thank you so much for your mail, wow it must be so hot there where you live, thought we had it hot here! but not as hot as you have it there, i have kidney problems and have a uti infection right now, so been drinking plenty of fluids, cannot get to the drs, no appointments to be had, its so hard to see a dr here now, ive been drinking some cystitis sachets i have here too, got cranberry juice too, doing all i can, just received an appointment for a bone scan, got that september 30th, ive had a foot problem for over a year now, had 2 injections in my foot, physio therapy, they may have to send me to a london hospital for further treatment , wear a night splint too on my foot, hope you are ok there apart from the heat, wish it would cool down here a bit, hugs to you christine

      • Hi Christine, So sorry about all your problems. You seem like such an upbeat person, I never would have guessed.
As we ( my husband, Larry,) and I get older all we do is go to the doctor. I guess when we were working we just didn’t go – too hard to get in around work schedules. What’s wrong with your foot? I had one injection in my heel once for heel spurs – the injection was the worse shot I’ve ever had. Take care and let me know how you are doing.

        • Hi Lyn, im so sorry i must of not of seen this mail you mailed me, so sorry, i hope you are ok there, i had to go to the walk in drs surgery this morning, i did pop to my local drs yesterday to ask for an appointment was told the earliest one i could have was september 12th! 2 wks away, so i did book that one, but i was so bad yesterday and last night , stewart said he would drop me off at the walk in surgery, we had to leave here at 7.30am as its open from 8.30am-10am to see people who walk in, if you leave it untill 8.30am to register to be seen you will be waiting hours, so thats why we left here at 7.30am, i was up at 6am had patch to see too etc, i did take a book with me just in case i was left waiting for a while, stewart dropped me off there and came home, i said i would phone him on my mobile once i was done at the surgery, there was lots of people waiting outside the place to get in, its a surgery inside our local herts and essex hospital there, its not an emergency hospital, they see outpatients there for hospital appointment, they have blood testing there, x ray , scanning and one of our drs surgery is in there its the only one of our surgeries that has walk in, when it opened at 8am people just take a number by the reception desk, you sit and wait the receptionist comes and calls you by number, i was number 6, she asked me if i wanted to see a dr or nurse, i said dr, she asked me if i wanted to wait or come back, i said wait, i waited untill 9.20am to be called in to the dr, told him i have had this over a week now, he examined me, he agreed i did have a kidney uti infection, i had to do a urine sample and he took my blood pressure and said it was sky high, i do suffer with high blood pressure and take tablets for it, he said i had a temperature too, he wants me to see the asthma nurse for a check, plus ive got to have blood tests to check my kidney function, and other things, i have to fast for this test, noting to eat for 12 hrs before the test, i can drink only water though, he gave me antibiotics for a week, i got my tablets from the pharmacy and then called stewart to pick me up, which he did, we just got home and the window cleaner was there, so that was good, i paid him, patch was pleased to see me, ive done stewarts packed lunch for work tomorrow too, he’s on the early shift again 4am-12.15pm for 2 days then the 11am-19.15pm shift for 2 days, he’s off monday for one day then he’s back on the early shift tue, wed next week, thurs , fri he’s on the 11am-19.15pm shifts then he’s off sat and sun next week, its hard to get used to these new shifts, i put the recycling bins outside ready for the bin men to empty tomorrow, they are a day late this week, as it was public holiday monday, its been a warm day today here, stewarts cooking tonight, he cooks on he’s days off, he’s doing chicken char grills with baked beans and hash browns tonight, i did ironing today too as stewart needed things ironing for work tomorrow, hope you are ok there and its not too hot there today, guess it is though!you take care best wishes hugs to you christine

          • Hi Christine, Wow! What a day you’ve had. I hate going to the Dr. and when you have to wait so long, but at least you got to see the Dr. It’s amazing when you really need to see a Dr. and have to wait 2 weeks. I don’t understand why it takes so long. We’re lucky ( I live in a rural area) they built us a nice Dr. office with 4 Dr., a dentist, eyes , heart, they can do mri’s and xrays. Some specialist come once a week. It’s so much better than it used to be. So far they’re pretty good about getting people in when you’re sick.
Sounds like a good supper stewart cooked. My husband, Larry, can’t cook – hamburgers or hot dogs is about it. I like to cook but seem to get in a rut where we have the same things for awhile. Then I get on the internet and look up new recipes – some have been horrible, and others are keepers.

            Take care of yourself. Lyn

            • Hi Lyn,
Thank you so much for your mail , i really do appreciate it so much, i was realy worn out yesterday, it was getting up at 6am that realy did it to me!!, i was up at 2am to let patch out in the garden then i put him in he’s crate, i crate him as when stewart gets up at 2.30am he wont want patch all over him when he’s got breakfast to eat and get he’s things and go out the door at 3.15am to be at work for 4am, he’s on another early shift tomorrow too, i got up again at 8am, i saw to patch, fed him, had a coffee, watched some things i recorded off the tv then started to clean up the house, did laundry too, thats all i ever seem to do laundry, ironing!! it needed doing though, washed the sofa covers, well they are old duvet covers and a sofa cover, have to have them with patch around!! patch has been good though today, he knows I’m not too well right now, i took my tablets, I’m on around 18 medications per month, i buy a card yearly and that covers all my medication costs, or else it is £8.40 for one item, so i do save by having that card, it cost me £104 per year, I’m doing jacket potatoes tonight with cheese in them, i get receipes online they are american, i made a lovely meatloaf from one of the recipes on there, will do that again, i try to do different meals too, in one store in town they do a deal you can get 3 meats or fish for £10, i tend to get like whole chickens as they are in the deal, and one chicken will do us 2 meals, they do some realy good things on the offer, its warm here today, my sunflowers are out now in flower, but I’m disappointed they are not that big though, but the slugs did get to some of them when i planted them out and they were in the patio house, i do have a heel spur, but they do not operate on it anymore here, ive had various treatments for it, ive got a bone scan on september 30th then ive got to go back to the consultant, and see what he says, he may have to ask my own doctor to refer me onto a hospital in London for further treatments, had this for over a year now, but somehow i carry on, have to realy, your drs sound a good place, its terrible here for getting appointments etc, i knew that i couldn’t go 2 weeks until i was seen though, tomorrow stewart wants to go and see he’s parents, they live local to us, about a 10 min walk from here, they are lovely people, i was married for over 20 yrs but he was abusive to me, and i left him, couldn’t take it anymore, the only downside he turned my children against me and i cannot see my grand children, its cruel, i was on my own untill i met stewart we moved here in 2006 together, he is a good man, looks after me and patch, works hard, our house is only rented, but it does us ok, its a 2 bedroom house with a medium size garden, stewarts work is about 8 miles from here, he cooks on he’s days off, he used to work 4 days on and 2 days off, but now they changed it, in the first weeks shifts he only gets one day off, the second week shifts he gets 2 days and the 3rd week shift he gets 3 days off like he’s off on monday then off again sat, sun next week, this week he was off tues, and wednesday, its hard to get used to those shifts, tomorrow i will do ironing, ive been taking my antibiotics ok, hope they kick in soon, anyway hope you are ok there and the weather is not too hot for you there, you take care now hugs to you christine
