      Hi Colleen,
I think Adam will cook but I imagine there will be plenty of frozen pizzas too. After all it is hard to cook for a bunch of little kids to begin with. I know when I used to baby sit a lot of times there would be stuff that he had put in the crock pot that was cooking when I was there.
I saw the Quacker camouflage tops. I don’t mind camo so I thought they were kind of cute. I think some people are camo people and some aren’t.
It must be hard for Brook to start at a new school. Especially at her age. I’m sure she’ll make lots of new friends-especially since she is active in drama and those sorts of things. As to the boyfriend-well you and I know how that will probably end but we are older and wiser and know that teenagers probably go through lots of heartbreaks before they grow up and settle down. I’m glad that I don’t have to go through those years again. On the one hand I did have so much fun and so many friends in high school-but there was also those first loves and the heartbreaks that went along with those years.
I can’t believe that it is August already! I looked it up and our kids go back on the 16th. At this rate in a few more years they will go back at the beginning of August. Them going back before August is even over just bugs me! for those parents who have kids in summer sports it hardly gives the families any time to get a vacation in between when sports ends and school starts. Summer vacation should be from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Forget all the days off in between.
Boy it seems like both Barbara and Adele are MIA. It makes me worry about Adele’s friend and Barbara’s health.
      I’m praying that everyone’s okay.

      Hey all…
I am here. I was doing the Angel ornament as fast as I could, as i was so scared something would happen to Winnie. I hope you read all the posts in the July section, as I put all the up-dates in there.
your kids are going back real early. I feel they should all be out intl after Labor day. Kids need to be kids, and they have too much pressure on them now.
I am also worried about Barbara. I am prying nothing is wrong, and that she is away with Jerry having fun.

      Adele

PS…love the pool picks. i made magnets for the kids- one of Aizen’s tree, then and now, and one of JJ in the pool with Luna. Shutterfly was having a 50% off sale, and I am all about the sale,

Just thought I would let you ladies know I was in the ER most of the day. I was so dizzy I could not stand up. I knew I could not chance a fall so I called the ambulance. He run all kinds of tests & says it is vertigo. Prescribed pills for the dizziness. So I hope after a nights sleep it is better. It is better than it was but I can still feel it. Now I am to follow up with my doctor. More copays. I hate to think what the ER will cost. I then had to find someone to bring me home. I made some calls no answer so I called my former supervisor, from the bank & she brought me home. So not doing anything today just resting.

      Ladies,
I thought I wrote my post on this page. Turns out it’s back in July.
Sue, I’m sorry to hear you were in the ER today. That must’ve been scary to feel so dizzy. I hope it doesn’t last long. Take care & don’t do anything for awhile. I’ll be praying for you.

      Hi Sue,
I hope that you are feeling better today. I know that vertigo can be an awful thing. Sometimes Greg has issues with it. You may have to see an ENT doctor. I know it can also be those ear crystals and I think there are head rolling exercises that you do for that. Adele probably knows more as I believe she had them. I will pray for you that you get over this quickly.

      Hi DD,
I posted to you and then the dam thing disappeared and it told me I wasn’t signed in. Which i was because i had just posted to Sue.
I guess I was in the minority as I thought the camo shirt was kind of cute.
I’m glad you love your tree as I also bought the blue one. I will probably just leave mine in the box until the Christmas season. I have a blue mercury glass vignette going on in my upper hallway on the bookshelves.
You find the prettiest butterfly pictures. I wish I had a whole yard full of butterflies.
We heard from Barbara and she is doing okay. She has some sort of computer virus that she is waiting to have fixed.

      Hi Adele,
I am praying hard for Winnie. She has had so many complications. I will pray that the tide has turned and that she will now get better.
Everyone does need an angel. I have angels in various places throughout my house. Some are statues and some are flameless candles. I also have some angel jewelry. I frequently wear it when I fly.
You know I don’t think I have ever had nutella-and if I did it was so long ago that I can’t remember.
What grades are middle school now-I am so out of touch. lol
I think all docs should get those tables that can be raised and lowered. For heavens sake they use them regularly and there is such a huge aging population. Heck, dentists have them. I know my rheumatologist thinks they should have them as they treat so many elderly patients and those steps are hard to climb up and turn around on.
      Your bushes/trees are really pretty.
Do you have pictures of the angel ornaments?

      My good buddy, Sue
I am so sorry you have to deal with the dizzies. Tillie is on a med for them, and has vertigo. I get them every once in a while, an on a day I am dizzy, it is just awful, so I know what you are goign through. Mine is more related to the blood pressure, I think, as the med for vertigo made me even more dizzy. So, I do not take it. My doctor explained that if you are not dizzy all the time, then the med for it will make it worst, as it will just not work.
I hope the med works for you, and also hope this is short lived. It is just not a pleasant thing to have.
I was also dizzy when going to bed, and turning in bed last year. That was caused by a crystal in my ear that escaped from where it was supposed to be. that lasted a while, and then suddenly, it disappeared. nothing worst than feeling like you are going to barf all day or night.
Rest, and do not go out with that miserable humidity, as it will make you worst. I hope you have a delivery service from your ocal supermarket that you can take advantage of, until you are better. We have Peapod up here- for Stop and Shop.
Adding an extra prayer for you!!
      Love, Adele

      Hi DD
I am glad your tree came, and that you love it. I bet it will look gorgeous in your home at Christmas.
Winnie’s bones are very fragile, whihc they found out when they did the first surgery- they did not knwo that. They are ‘disintegrating” around the repair, per doctor. She has not been able to sit up yet. PT finally came in yesterday, and did some work with her legs. She has pneumonia. They are giving her more antibiotics. She ate a little more yesterday, and they were pleased with that. Also, the pulmonary doctor came in, and nixed the surgery for now. He said she is not in any condition to do a surgery this week. Everyone felt good about that, as we were all scared to death she would not make it through.
the witch ornament I sent Winnie came yesterday, and her sister brought it in to her. She said she was thrilled, and had her put it on the board in her room, so she could look at it. that made me feel good, that I gave her something nice to look at, and it made her happy.
I hope I will get more good news from her sister tonight.
I am so jealous that your weather is nice an cool…..LOL LOL we hit well over 90, with humidity very high. It was awful. It is beginning to thunder, so I ahve to hurry to answer these…..LOL

      Sue and everyone….
I did have exercises to do for the ear crystals. Everyone gets different ones, depending on which ear, and how they get dizzy. I had to sit on the side of the bed, and go down to a laying position on the side that made me dizzy- it was self torture….LOL My friend had to hang his head off the bed. Weird, huh?

      Hi Ladies,
Well, it happened again. I was almost done with a post & it disappeared on me. We woke up to clouds & almost sprinkles. I almost had to turn on the heat but I didn’t. Just closed the windows. But they say by this time next week we’ll be in the upper 90s, maybe 100. Not looking forward to that at all.
Hallie & her husband took me to lunch today. We went to the DQ. I haven’t been to one in decades. I really enjoyed it. I had the peanut buster parfait for a treat. It was sooooo good!
Adele, it doesn’t sound good for Winnie. Pneumonia on top of everything else? I’m glad they put off the surgery. I don’t think she’d have made it.
I’ve never of crystals in the ear before. I had water behind the eardrum yrs ago & it was making me dizzy. They did all kinds of tests, but couldn’t figure out what was causing it. I was catching a cold so I started taking Dimetapp to stop the nasal drip & in a couple of days the dizziness stopped altogether. My Dr. said the cold med dried up whatever was making me dizzy. The antihistamine (?) in it.
I have meds in the cupboard that I’m supposed to take, but they make me dizzy. I told the Dr about it & he cut the dose down to bed time. Nearly all of them have the warning on the bottle warning of dizziness, not to drive or operate machinery. I don’t have to worry about that.
Well, I better go before I lose it again.

      Hi All,
Adele I am so sorry that Winnie needs more surgery. She has really gone thru enough. You are right about the scan. They need to do one before they start cutting on her again. She must be getting so tired of all of this. I will keep praying for her.
I think that everyone needs a Angel right now. You need an angel also. it is so nice that you are making angels for all of your friends. If you make one for Winnie you should hang it in her hospital room. That might make her feel better just seeing it.
That is so nice that you gave her the witch. It is nice that they hung it up in her room. I am glad that she saw it and it made her smile. That is good that she is eating.
Gail that is good that he will cook. You are probably right about the pizza. Pizza and spaghetti will probably be their main meals. If he is good at grilling they will have hamburgers. That sounds like a bachelor’s menu.
I remember how high school was. I just hope that they are different for her this year. She will find a boyfriend and make friends and really have fun. She is afraid that because it is a small school everyone will know all kinds of things about her. We tried to tell her they will not know anything that she does not tell them. She can be as mysterious as she wants to be.
I hurt my back the other day and not doing too well sitting on the computer. Will have to go back to the back doctor again. Hope that all of you have a great night.

It is good to have nice neighbors but I sure got a scolding for not calling any of them. Two of then checked on me today. I am doing better but not completely clear. Some may be from the medicine. My one neighbor wanted to do something for me so I told her if they went up tonight for BBQ chicken to bring me some & I would pay her. She brought it but would no let me pay.
Now I got a call & they want to do an ultra sound. I think all these tests are crazy & I cannot afford them. So I did not agree until I talk to the doctor on Wed.. They ran so many tests in the ER without consulting me first & he said they were all normal. So now they want more. With all the xrays & CT scans they have probably filled my body with radiation. They even did a chest xray & I ask why & they said to see if you have fluid in your lungs Now I ask what has that to do with vertigo.
We are still getting rain. It rained all afternoon today. I am sick of it. It is like we will have no summer to speak of. I want fresh veggies. We just had the wettest July on record & it still continues. It has been humid but only in the 70’s so not hot. When you get no sun there is no heat. Well the AC is getting a long rest.
Adele it sounds like your friend should have been taking calcium for her bones. I have been taking it. Hers sound very brittle.
Well need to go turn on a light as I cannot see the keyboard. I wonder where the longer days are as it sure has been dark here.
You know Gail if you were closer I could give Adam some things. I need to get rid of some of this stuff.

      Hi Ladies,
Not much going on. Just the same ole stuff. I’m running my dvds of I Love Lucy tonight. Nothing on tv tonight, so I put them on. We had another nice day. Cloudy & cool. Tomorrow will be the last of it, as the heat is coming back in full force.
Sue, we would gladly(!!!!) trade some of that rain out there for our sunny hot days that are coming. It sure would help put out those fires in Ca. & here in Ore.

Well, I better get off here before it screws up again.
take care & have a great weekend.

      Hey all!
Sue- Hope you had a great birthday. I saw it on facebook. I was not on until late yesterday. I also hope your are stops getting rain.
We had awful storms that passed over us. We only got some rain, not like the rest of the state.
OMG….I ahve to see if I know the name of the Boston person who won the contest
I hope they figure out what is causing the vertigo, and that it goes away, like mine did.. I also hope you do not get hit with crazy co-pays. Maybe you will be lucky this time.

      DD
So glad the dizziness stopped! it is just awful to be dizzy. Makes you feel so sick, and miserable.
My poor friend has been struggling with so much. I was able to talk to her yesterday, and she said she would like soup with escarole in it. So, I will be making her soup tomorrow.
Where is the pic you sent me??? I don’t see it.

      Colleen
Of course you have interesting things to say! We love to hear from you.

I heard from Barbara. She is ok, but sad. The wedding happened, and nobody skyped them. She did see pics on facebook of the wedding. She and Jerry are trying to put it all behind them.
I feel so bad that their feelings were smashed to bits. Just not fair.

Here is my news of the day. Marissa and Enzo are leaving late today for Italy. Enzo’s Nonna is dying to meet Marissa, and she showed her all the cookies she baked for them….LOL Enzo’s sister told Marissa she misses her terribly, and that she is going to get fat over there, as Nonna feeds everyone, all day long….LOL LOL Enzo’s parents, and sisters have been in Italy for 2 weeks. They are all coming home on the same day- 10 days from now. please pray for a safe trip, back and forth.
It is disgusting here- in the 90’s with gross humidity. Steph, the boys, and Heather are coming to go in the pool. Crazy doggie Luna was in the pool here last night.
Everyone else is ok, thank God! I am still doing the ornaments- attaching a pic of the 2 recent ones done, and one in process.
      Love you guys!!

      Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I’m tired but that’s because I went out to Wally’s before the heat shows up. I won’t be going out when it gets so hot. We’re supposed to have our National Night out in our parking lot, not in the evening but in the heat of the afternoon!!!
Adele, those ornaments are adorable. I wish I could make em. They look light & wouldn’t bend the tips on the tree.
I sent the pics to your FB page. I’ll see if I can send em on here this time.
Sue, I hope you had a great b/day. Did you do any celebrating?
Did you guys tune into ITKWD today? Kicking off the presale of his new cookbook. I put my order in as I have his others. Some of those recipes he had on today sure sounded delish. He even made his nemesis, brussell sprouts, & ate one on national TV!
Well, that’s all I have for today.
Take care all & have a great week ahead.

      Hi DD,
Sounds like you are having a lot of trouble with this site. I was having trouble for awhile but it is okay now. that does not mean that it will not give me trouble tomorrow. lol
i have never bought one of David’s cook books. I have plenty of cook books now. I do not know what I would do with another one. I hope that you get a lot of good meals out of that cook book.
That is the professional help that I need. If you find out a way to get it let us all know. I think that we all need that type of help. It would be so nice to not have to do any of that work. To have someone do all the driving and we can just sit in the back of the car and ride.
I wonder why they are having National Night in the middle of the afternoon? I would think that would want to have it when it is cooler outside and more people would come. They do some dumb things now. I guess they just do not think.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
I really like the ornaments that you made. You are so good at that. Everyone will want one of them,. How many more do you have to make?Do they take a lot of time to make them?
How exciting for Enzo and Marissa to be going to Italy. I hope that she gets to see a lot while she is there. One thing she will not go hungry for cookies. I bet that she will get a lot of good food but will be glad to get back to your cooking. They are going to be gone for a long time. 10 days will be a long time to be gone. Maybe not for them though they are young and do not mind being away from home. I am getting old.lol I will pray that they have a safe and fun trip.
That is nice that Steph and Heather are coming over with the kids. They will have a good time in the pool. This hot weather is a good time to be in the pool for everyone. I bet that Luna had a good time in the pool also. The pool sounds like so much fun.
I was hanging clothes on the line and pulled my back. I carried a basket full of wet towels. I should have know better then to carry them out. This hanging the clothes out on the line is Rons big idea. We are saving on electricity.lol I figure what we are saving on electric we are going to spend on the doctor. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night and I hope that the hot weather goes away soon.

      Hi Everyone,
Sue, I hope you had a nice birthday.
DD, I think I need the help of that chef, butler and maid too. lol I think I have one of David’s older cookbooks but I don’t think i have ever even made anything from it. For someone that no longer likes to cook I have a lot of cookbooks. I guess I consider them part of my book collection in general. Plus for awhile Greg was buying me these gourmet cookbooks filled with stuff that I would never make in a million years. My favorites are the Taste of Home cookbooks that have recipes that “real” people would actually make.
Adele, you are so sweet to make that soup for Winnie. I hope that the hospital will let her eat it.
The ornaments are so cute.I especially like the one with the penguin.
I envy Enzo and Marissa their trip. I hope they have a wonderful time and get to see some different parts of Italy. I wish we had traveled more when we were younger. Back then we didn’t have the time or the money and now that we have both I just can’t keep up physically with all the walking entailed in sight seeing. So I travel through my books.
Colleen, I hope your back is feeling better. Otherwise you will have to see the back doctor and as much as we love hearing his ideas for how you should do things I don’t want you to be in pain. I think if Greg had told me to hang out the laundry to save electricity I would have kindly suggested that he do it himself since he was so energy conscious. Otherwise he would be eating potato soup. lol
We are having a couple of rainy days right now but then will be back to sun by Wednesday.
Can’t believe that the Bears already played a game this year.
Has anyone watched that craft show Making It? I had copied it and we watched it last night. It was fun and interesting and a competition different from the cooking, singing and dancing shows. Check it out if you get the chance-especially if you like to be crafty.

      Hi DD
I know you can do the ornaments, and they are feather light. It is one stitch per square, from the left to the right corner, like a one sided cross stitch. You follow the colors on the printed canvas. I know you can do them!! Just try one, and see if you like it. It is so much fun.
I watched ITKWD, but, i did not get anything. i was bad, and got 2 new Halloween tunics. i got an email on them. the one with the witch shoe, and the scarecrow one. I hope they were new, as I am famous for buying the same shirt twice….LOL
I hope the day of your outside party will have cooler weather. Would they re-schedule it, if it was awful outside?
I made the soup for Winnie today. But, we could not get hold of her husband or sister to drop it off this evening. I hope nothing happened. I did talk to her today, and she seemed ok. She is hard to understand, as she is laying down, so I miss a lot of words. I try to say something up-beat, but she seems to get angry at some of the things I say or ask. Gary said I should just how she is feeling, and leave it at that. I don’t agree, as I would like people to talk to me, if I were stuck in bed. I can’t blame her. It has been a long time she has been there. I am sure she is getting resentful of being in a bed for 2 months. In 5 days, it is exactly 2 months.
Her husband is getting very depressed over all of this. he is having trouble getting in and out of Boston, and walking to her room. Especially on a day he has dialysis. he said he just cannot continue doing this. We feel just awful about all they are going through. Gary offered to drive him onto Bosotn, but that will not help much at all.
I hope you can go to the outside party!! Our weather continues to be gross.

      Hi Colleen
I have a lot more to do. I have the Christmas ones: 4 for Heather, 3 for Tillie, 5 for Steph, and a whole bunch for me….LOL LOL I am also doing 5 Angels to give away. if I am not very busy, it takes about 2 days to do one. If I have a lot to do here, it is longer. I am working on one for Heather, and I have 1 more to do for her. then on to either the angels, or Tillie or Steph’s. Mine will be last.
I really love doing needlepoint. It is relaxing, and gives your hands something to do while you listen to TV, or talk to people.
Holy crap! Why is Ron not on the potato soup diet, with this new venture of his on clothes drying???
JJ did not come yesterday. He did the pokemon go thing with his Papi. Aizen had a good time. They asked me to make Pesto, so I did. Steph “harvested it” for me, as it was too hot out there….LOL
Marissa and Enzo landed in Italy at 8:30 am,our time. They had a lay over in Ireland. They was going to shower, and go shopping. Tomorrow, they go to Rome. She also said she misses her puppy.
I found out she conned her mother into going to see her dad (who Heather divorced years ago), to make sure Luna was ok, and face time her with the dog.
he does not have internet, or an I phone. I hope it does not create an issue….LOL
Thank you for the prayers…keep them coming, as it is another 9 days until she is home again.
      Hope your day was good.

      Hey Gail
Please read the posts to the girls for all the info on today.
We watched the craft show, and I liked it. Gary thought it was lame. I really miss the baking contest show. I wish they would bring it back, with a different judge.
OMg you said the same thing about Ron and potato soup….LOL I hope Colleen’s back goes back, and stops hurting her. It is awful when it kicks up.
Speaking of sports, did you catch the weekend red Sox games? Wow, is all i am goign to say. Go Sox!!
i forgot to tell the girls Aizne was so happy with the bunnies and chipmunks yesterday. Two chipmunks ran very close to Heather and Steph. They are so cute. Aizen was watching the bunnies from the window after dinner, as that is when they come out. Steph want to try to catch one to snuggle. I think they will bite her.
Any news on Brent’s health? I am still hoping for something good for him. I know you are too. how is Jenny doing? the kids? did they win the pig showing?
Hope your day is good….forgot- how is Greg’s back? Mine has been a little sore with all this humidity.

      Hi Ladies,
I see they’re having Hello Fall TSV on the Q tonight. And fall stuff all day tomorrow (Tues). I saw on FB that David is hosting A great big Halloween show
tomorrow. He was showing off the oversized decorations he’ll be showing. That’s the first Halloween stuff I’ve seen on the Q in a long time. I don’t remember seeing anything last yr.
The National Night out is 1-3pm tomorrow, in the heat of the day. They’re having a barbeque in the parking lot here.
I’m making this short, as I wanted to let ya know about the new TSV tonight. Don’t know what it is but I know they’ve been showing fall stuff in the ads.
Seems like summer just got started.
      Take care everyone.

      Hi Gail,
Well today I conveniently waited until late to have to wash some laundry. It is dark out and I cannot hang clothes out on the line in the dark. He will get tired of not having clothes to wear unless I wash them at night. I guess that we will have potato soup and dirty clothes for awhile. Well he will I will wash my clothes while he is gone. I have a clothes rack that I hang my quacker clothes on. So I can wash them and there is nothing that he can say about that. You have to be careful of what you hang on it though. The towels would surely break it. Well at least that is what I am telling Ron. He will have to just live with that. I bought the clothes rack so he cannot say too much about it. lol
That is so strange that they would be playing foot ball in this heat. It seems like it would really be too hot for them to play with all the equipment on. I do not understand why they do this in this heat.
It is supposed to rain here tomorrow. We could really use some rain. We get some and then we do not get any for awhile. We really need this weather to get better.
Did you watch that program on qvc called Hello Hello Hello. I wonder what it was supposed to be. I was going to watch to see what it was but forgot about it until tonight. I will have to tape the one that comes on later tonight. It is really strange it is like a movie.Surely they are not going to show a movie on the q. That would be really weird. They are doing some strange things on there now. The shows on the q are not as interesting as they were when they were showing the Christmas shows. It is always a let down when they stop showing them after July. I hope that they show some in August. I really enjoy seeing them.
I hope that Brent is doing well. Has he seen the new doctor yet? It will be so nice when they get him better and he can go on with his life. I know that it will be a big relief to you and Greg.
      Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
You really have a lot of them to finish. They are going to be so pretty. Everyone will enjoy getting one. That is so nice of you to make these for everyone. I wish that I had your talent.
It is too hot for potato soup. I am not cooking at all right now. So he is eating what ever we have in the fridge. I am not a very nice person. Mandy will cook once in awhile but now every night. She does not like hanging the clothes out on the line either. We may be eating out all the time and he will be searching for things to eat.
Did they get to see anything in Ireland while they were laid over? It would be nice if they did but they may not have had enough time to leave the airport. I am glad that they are there safe and sound. It will be fun to hear about what they are doing over there. I bet that they are having some good meals and a lot of sight seeing. That would be a really nice trip.
I have done that bought the same shirt twice. That is so aggravating to do that. I have kept a couple of them but have sent some back. I kept two of the flag shirt with the other shirt. They are both so comfortable and I like to wear them. So now I just have extra shirts that look alike.
It is good that you are talking to Winnie. She needs to hear about all that is going on around her. She is just angry that she cannot take part in what is going on out there. If she seems to get too upset I would just quit talking about other things then. She is not getting upset with you she is just mad about the situation that she is in. She know that there is nothing she can do about it.
I will keep Winnie and Marissa in my prayers. How is Tillie doing? I hope that she is doing well and able to get up and down the steps. My mom is like that also. She can go up and down the steps better then I can.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
It is nice that they are finally going to have a Halloween show on the Q. They have not really had one in a long time. I use to like to watch that guy that use to make the masks. They were really cute and some of them were scary.
That is really a bad time of the day to have a cook out. They should have made it later. I hope that you can get a plate of food and take it back up to your apartment. People just do not think. I cannot imaging anyone wanting to be out in that heat.
Those pictures do bring back some memories. They still did have some of those small stores around when we were kids. That is what the neighborhood store looked like and the candy dishes on the counter. They weren’t dishes they were canisters. They did not have the home made bread anymore it was all the bread from the big companies. That was a shame. Did they ever sell Charlies chips in your area? They use to come in a tin container and it was really big. I saw they are selling them again but the container is not as big as it use to be. I am thinking about ordering some of them hope they taste as good.
It is going to be interesting to see what the tsv is going to be. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD
Thanks for the heads up on the Fall/Halloween shows- have them on now.
I am hoping tomorrow will bring a sea breeze, so you will not melt at your outdoor party.
Do you know when Dave’s Halloween show will be on? That would be a great show to watch. I love him!
Hope you are having a good, cool day. Today is our worst day ever, per the news- we will break all records. Steph is in the pool with the kids. Jhonny is with them, as he has today off. he is thrilled he did not have to deliver mail today….LOL

      Hi Colleen
I think I would be on strike from washing any clothes, and then tell him he needs to buy new bloomers to wear….LOL What in the world brought this on?
We got the soup to Joanne today, and she is bringing some in for Winnie tonight. Imagine- it is over 100 in our yard, with high humidity. Soup? I must be nuts….LOL
Steph,Jhonny, and the boys are here- in the pool. They will come in, when they get too hot.
I have the Q fall shows on. So far, nothing bought. Antonella is on. I love her, almost as much as Dave.
Tillie is ok again. Thank God!
MArissa could not leave the airport, so she saw nothing. She is so sweet. they were supposed to go to Rome, and she said they were not going, as she wanted to spend the time with the family. They will sight see around his Nonna’s house. She is near the Amalfi coast, and they will ride over there- only 20 minutes from her house. She sent Heather a video of goats running down the street.
Well, I nearly died last night. On the news was a huge explosion on the highway in Italy, and people died. Gary looked at me, and said….they are in farm country, not near a highway. Enzo’s Nonna has a small farm.
I hope it gets cooler in your area. this is an awful summer.

      Hi Adele,
Our electric bill is higher then it has ever been. Which is not big surprise since we have three more adults living here. They are all older so they are not kids anymore. So they use a lot more things then they did when they were young. We have had people living here with us a lot at different times. My middle daughter and the youngest have come home a couple of times. My oldest has never come home. I think that she would live on the streets rather then come and live with us. She would never want us to think that she failed at anything.
It may be hot for soup but if Winnie wanted some then that is what she got. You are such a good friend and do such nice things for everyone. I bet that she really enjoyed it.
That is nice that Steph and Johnny came over with the kids to get in the pool. I bet that they had a good time. I can understand why Johnny did not want to work today in this heat. They can eat soup for dinner also. If you have it made then they will eat it.
I do not think that I would watch the news until Marissa got home. You will worry yourself to death. Sounds like she is really planning on seeing a lot of the family. Does he have more family over there besides his Nonna? They may not go on any highways the whole time that they are there. Except to go back to the air port. I will keep praying that she stays safe there and on her way home. That would be strange to see goats running down the road. They do not care where the animals run.
I hope that things go okay with Heather going over to Marissa’s dads to skype the dog. That was a hard thing for her mom to have to do. I wonder why she asked her to do that.
Did you see the Fall Halloween show that was on the q tonight. I watched it and they had some really cute things on there. They had a ghost and a witches hat that I would love to have but they are kind of expensive. The dragon was really cute also. I like to have some cute things on there but I like some spooky things also. I wish that they would have shown some of that stuff also.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I did watch the fall decorating shows. I love to see what VPH offers. She makes everything look so warm and welcoming.
You know I don’t think anyone around here does anything for National Night Out. I don’t really even know what that is all about or what it is for or the reason behind it. Is it a night when everyone is supposed to go out?
I just ordered some of the Farmer Jons savory popcorn. I have had the other stuff and it is good so I hope the new savory is also.
Sometimes I don’t want to pop a whole big bowl of popcorn so I can open these bags and just get a little taste when I want one.
Right now we are getting marai sweet corn in but it will only be for a few more weeks and then that will be gone until next summer. I could eat fresh corn and tomatoes all day every day when they are in season. I guess i am just a corn girl-whether it be fresh or popped. lol

      Hi Colleen,
I’m sure the electric is high with all the extra people in the house. I guess we get used to whatever usage we have with just the two of us and then when more are living here we forget what it was like to use all that electricity like we did when the family was younger. Did you get that? I think I even confused myself. I hope you understood it. lol
I know Jenny did not want to move back in here either-she would be more like Danyielle-willing to do anything to avoid that. Now Brent moved right back in after Kim died-but I really gave him no choice as there was no way I was going to let him be alone after that. Plus I think he wanted to be around us anyway-he needed the support. Just to be around normal life to help him get through it all. He has his appointment with the new cardiac doctor at the end of this month so I hope we will finally get some answers.
You know he never wanted to find his birth parents but he did do one of those ancestry DNA tests a little bit ago so maybe he is moving in that direction. I personally think he should find them as maybe it would help him figure out some of his medical issues. He always said he wasn’t interested though and that’s his own personal decision. I personally think it would be good from a psychological standpoint too as all adoptees seem to feel rejected and maybe hearing the reasons why they were given up from their birth mother would help them realize that she did it not out of rejection, but out of love, wanting to give them a better life than she could not provide. I think it would be emotionally healing. Plus after seeing two of our nephews finding their birth parents and then really understanding that they did have a better life because of their birth mother’s sacrifice i think it was freeing for them.
I did watch those Hello Hello Hello shows. It was weird because in the Dish program guide it made it sound like it was a regular TV program with a story. That was odd-wasn’t it?
How are your cucumbers and peppers? We, like you, have tons of tomatoes but the cukes and peppers are not doing that good.
I feel bad as Greg and Piper are big cuke fans. It seems like they have not been good the last few years. i wonder if he is overdoing it on the fertilizer or something. We used to have big old cucumbers but have not had them for a couple of years. You just never know how the garden will turn out from year to year. Do you guys have any luck with melons? We try but never seem to get any good ones.

      Hi Adele,
Once again I am so sorry about Winnie’s passing. I am praying for her family. I am glad you got to talk to her on the phone. This is a time when it is good to be around the little ones. Seeing their young faces is so life affirming.
I hope Marissa has a wonderful time and gets to see some of the country too. That is such a wonderful experience to travel and see how others live. It is educational without even having to take a class. I know how she misses Luna. I always missed our dogs when we traveled and was so happy to pick them up from the sitters.
I thought that baking contest was still on with a different judge, but isn’t it on around Christmas time? Are we thinking of the same contest? lol
So I wouldn’t even know how to make pesto-what’s in it? Of course if you serve it with pasta that’s a moot point now anyway since Greg is eating low/no carbs-so any pastas are out. I don’t know how much more weight he wants to lose.
I doubt if Steph would catch one of the bunnies anyway-but if she did they would most likely scratch and bite her. It’s better just to look at them from afar. Plus they are usually full of fleas. I know this from having dogs and cats who would catch an occasional bunny.
No,I can’t say that I caught any Red Sox games. Have they been doing well? I did hear about the Mets game a couple weeks ago when they got beat by 20 something runs.
Greg just told me that the Bears are on again tonight. The first game was kind of boring with none of the starters playing. Wonder what city it’s in.
Greg’s back is okay. It’s usually not his back that hurts. He has numbness in his feet from the back issues. He said that is getting worse now but he plays a lot of golf in the summer so that could irritate it. It’s been awhile since he had a shot so it may be time for another one.
I went to see my doctor about the tingling in my toes and the swelling in my feet. She thinks it might be from my varicose veins so the first thing she is doing is sending me to a vein clinic before they start looking into other thinks like heart kidneys etc. I actually think it may be from the veins too. I remember years ago talking to her about them but then it was more from a vanity point of view as i was not having problems. I remember back then we talked about the vein clinic but then i decided i just didn’t care enough to have something done cosmetically but now that it may be a medical issue it’s a different story. So I have to call them for a consultation. I am working my courage up to do this now.
You know you may have talked me into trying needlepoint. I have done cross stitch, crewel embroidery and knitting so maybe I will try this now. Although I do still cross stitch now and again and knit two. Especially a few years ago when those thin fuzzy scarves were popular. I whipped up quite a few of those. They were easy and fast and cute.
      Hugs,
      Gail

      Hi Gail,
I know what you mean. We all have gone thru that and it is hard to have everyone move out and then come back. The bills are all higher and Ron has forgotten about what it use to cost us back in the good old days.
We got really bad news today. One of Ron’s cousins hung himself this morning. He was 6 or 7 years younger then Ron and he is really taking it hard. I do not know what to do to make him feel better. I think that the whole thing is because he hung himself. Ron could sure prayers.
It was good that Brent had a place to go until he could move on from the loss of Kim. He could not stay at their place there would have been too many bad memories. You did the right thing getting him to come home with you. I think that about Mandy also. She needed to come here and stay. She would have felt that she needed to get back with Andy. At least here she has got her confidence in herself back and she will not have anything to do with him. I hope that she makes out okay. We will help her as much as we can. It is funny how different our kids are from each other. We raise them just alike and still they have different personalities.
That was strange the way dish listed that. I cannot figure out why they did that. I guess that is what made us so curious as to what the show was. Did you see any of Davids show with the big decorations for Halloween? Some of them were kind of pricey for what they were. They are only up for so long and then you take them down again. They may be up a little longer then the Christmas decorations but not much longer. The dragon an the pumpkin man and some of them would not be left up for that long. I may be wrong but that is how I feel.
We are getting a lot of cucumbers now we weren’t at first but now they are coming in. The zucchini is really growing. Usually they are done by this time of the year but they are really growing. We have been giving veggies away all the time this year. We gave some to Ron’s sisters and my mom and brother. We never have much luck with melons. We have tried and they are either too small to harvest or they do not come up at all. I know that we have done something wrong but cannot figure it out.
It is so sad about Adele’s friend Winnie. She is so upset and I wish that I could make a dinner for her and her family or do some thing for her. The only problem I am not as good a cook as she is.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen,
I just wrote you a long note and then our internet went out so I couldn’t post.
I will pray for Ron and for the soul of his cousin. I guess we don’t understand suicide as we know life is so precious and we don’t understand feeling so sad that the only solution is to leave this world. You will think of the right words to say to Ron. Maybe you just need to be there to offer a hug and a shoulder to cry on.
It is good that Mandy could live with you guys and get her self confidence and self esteem back so she can withstand any attempts by Andy to woo her back. Maybe divorce is easier to understand when the husband is not a good guy. I know Mandy really appreciates your support. It’s always good when Mom and Dad have your back.
I saw those big decorations too. No one would even see them out here except for the few people who live on our dead end street.
I’m sure your cooking would be good if you could bring a dish over to Adele’s house. I’m sure they would appreciate it. It’s too bad that we can’t all get together and talk and laugh and hug and get her through this.
So the other day we get this note in the mail from some people that live on the street. They said we have never met but they are having a big party Saturday with valet parking along the street. They said they don’t expect to be rowdy or late but gave us their number if we had any problems. I don’t think it will bother us as long as they don’t block the streets or driveway or wreck the grass in the front of the yard. We will be gone Saturday night as we have to babysit. Jenny’s friend and jogging buddy is having a graduation party. I give her a lot of credit as she is married and has two children and she went back and got her degree. I have a soft spot for her family as she is married to Brent’s best friend from high school. Lachlan’s birthday is Sunday-so we will just bring him his present Saturday night. We don’t want to go to his children’s party on Sunday as that will be just too wild. Plus Jenny is no longer having family birthday parties as she just doesn’t know how to work it out with the divorce and all.
I hope everyone has a joyful, peaceful and loving weekend. And I hope my internet lets this post! lol

      HI Gail,
Ron finally started talking last night about his cousin. I think that he started to feel a little better when he did that. He seems to be better today. I guess that it is just hard when it is a subside. Thank you for the prayers.
That is like us they would just sit in the yard and no one would ever see them. We have a lot of trees that hide things from the road. We do not have that many neighbors either. It would be nice for the grand kids but we do not have that many grands that come here now. I really like it when they do come and like to have decorations out but it is not worth the trouble for as much as they come.
That was really nice that your neighbor sent you that note about the party. That way you know what is going on and you can get a hold of them to let them know if someone is blocking your drive way. It is nice that you will be spending time with the grand kids. The kids will enjoy having you and Greg there for the evening. i hope that you all have fun. Maybe Greg will dance for them again.
That will be hard for them with Adams family living on her street. The kids were all really close weren’t they. It will all work out if they remember that the kids are not involved in the divorce and they let them all hang out together. That is really hard.
That is cool that Jenny’s friend is married to Brent’ friend. That does not happen very often. Most of the time they will not talk to their sister’s friends because they are too much of a pest.
Well that is about all from here.We are not doing much this week-end. I will be at home trying to get my back in shape again. This is really a pain. I will be glad when he gets it back in shape.
You have a good week-end also.

      Hey colleen
I will try to answer, so i can get to do an up-date on the last few days:
Thank God- have not heard any bad news in Italy. Heather has not gone to see the dog, per request, because poor Luna cried for hours at the door after Marissa left her there. they feel she will get upset again if she sees Heather.
I agree- the electric goes way up when you double the people. Poor Ron must be nuts over it, and it will not go down until they leave.
I am dying to see the pics Marissa took when she gets home. We did not tell her about Winnie.
I am so blessed to ahve everyone here come back and forth all day long. You have no idea!

      My last few days:
The wake and funeral were a wonderful tribute to all the kind things Winnie did.
Walked into the wake, (we were there first, of course), and I lost it,. Had to leave, and get myself together. her niece and Joanne came out to see me, and I went back in. Hugged Al, and he said, “Your soup is the last thing Winnie ate”. Lost it again. From then on, I was ok. We sat with them until they left that night. Al was very quiet. Stoic. Joanne said he has been crying at home. Al has been spending more time downstairs at Joanne’s than upstairs, and she said that is just fine with her, as they are family, and will get through it together. Al even brought down a pad for one kitchen chair for him to sit on, and Joanne said that is now his chair.
Funeral was beautiful. I ahve to say, the singer at the church could go on AGT. Gail will get a kick out of this one……a butterfly flew into the church, and flew aorund us. I only cried when the procession left the church, and as I got into our car. I could not get out of the car at the grave site for 2 reasons. One, i did not want to lose it again, and get everyone going, and two, my body was tired. The church had an awful incline going into it, and it bothered my back, in and out of it. But, I did it, and I am glad I did. Gary went to the grave site while I sat in the car, and bawled. I should take a pic of my face- looks like someone beat me up….LOL All the crying left red marks around and under my eyes.
The Heavens opened up, just as all left the grave site. Has been pouring ever since- got my new Quacker all sparkly Winnie funeral top soaked….LOL
We went to the restaurant after, and I did not cry there. Had some nice discussions with everyone there. It was somber, but ok.
When I got home, I told Tillie and Bobby (he went to the wake) nobody should do that to their family. People need to be cremated, with a nice dinner at Spinelli’s after to celebrate their life. Nobody should have to stand there while a loved one is in a box, and put into the ground. Not nice. So you can keep them home, in their pretty urn, and they can be there for all family functions. Told Tillie I know she is against that, and she needs to know I am not coming to her wake or funeral. No can do….NOT DOING IT. I will not be in attendance unless she changes her mind. So, Tillie then says….”Do I have to be afraid to die now, with you?’ Yup, I said. Gary then told her not to worry, he will go, and that her daughter (me) is heartless some times. So, Tillie then tells Gary…..”She has a lot of heart, that is why she is acting like this.” If I were not crying so much when I said these things, I would have laughed.
Sooooo, Bobby then says that he knows we are upset, but somebody needs to do the food shopping list. Got upstairs, undressed, and did it with The Husband. I put this in the list ” one new best friend”. Funny part of that is, Bobby did not figure out what I meant, and asked me what product that was, as he never heard of it before. Seriously?
So, my good Quacker buddies. Been a tough couple of days. Got through it, and back to my life. Al, Joanne, Rita, and the rest of Winnie;s fmaily is not so blessed. Their lives and routines will be dramatically different for the rest of their lives.
Please, please, please, think a lot before you sign up for any surgery. I do not want to lose any of my Quacker buddies.
      I love you guys.
      Adele
PS….I hope I did not say anything in a way which did not convey how much I love everyone, and all I do is out of love for them. You never know how the written word sounds some days….LOL

      Hey Gailster
Thank you for the prayers, and wishes. Thank God I have all of you!
I hope Rissy has lots to tell us when she gets home- Tuesday.
You will have to let me know if you order one of the “Alice Peterson stitch ups ornaments”. I hope you do, as they are so much fun. I am working on the last one for Heather for Christmas. Her birthday is next week.
Winnie did not get to see the Angel ornament I made for her. It arrived the day she died. I should have sent it with the soup. I hope Joanne kept it.
I had one of those vein tests. It is not bad, so do not worry about it. They check to see if the veins are getting the blood where it needs to go. I unfortunately passed all the tests, and my legs are swollen every day. They attributed it to my weight. I wish there was s solution. But, I am glad nothing was wrong too. If I eat fresh fruit in the afternoon, and have tea, I will pee some out, and be less swollen.
I hope Brent gets an answer from his next doctor appointment. Also hope Greg feels better. Walking in the grass would definitely irritate his back, and the sciatica it causes. You had to see me sweat from the pain of walking up the incline of the sidewalk to the church yesterday.
I agree- do not think it owuld be great to catch a wild bunny. I am hoping they make friends with one, and feed them….LOL
It is pouring up here so much a lot of streets are flooded. We are ok.’
      Hope your day is good!

If you were closer to me, and did cook something, I know I woudl love it. Just your company would be wonderful.
We are all good cooks in our own way.
Here is a weird way of my trying to be funny yesterday……told Gary is the kids find out Winnie died after she ate my soup, they will say I killed her. But, seriously, I did say to Gary that I hoped nothing was in the soup that made her take a turn for the worst the day she died.

OMG…did Ron’s cousin commit suicide? that is so terribly ad. It leaves everyone with the bad feeling that they should have seen it coming. But, there is no way to see it coming, unless they tell you they are going to do it. I am so sorry. I will add all of them to my prayer list.
So, wa sit rowdy last night on your street, Gail? Did you join them?
That Is also sad that Jenny is stopping the birthday parties for now. MAybe she can think of a different way to celebrate.

      Hi Ladies,
It seems like it’s been ages since I was on here. I hope this finds everyone doing fine. Adele, I know you’re not doing so well right now. I’m soo sorry for your loss. Write down all your memories of Winnie. When my mom passed away yrs ago a therapist told me to write down my memories of her, good & bad. I wouldn’t worry about the soup. I doubt very much it was the cause. From all you were telling us about her in the last days, it didn’t sound good to me. Sending big hugs to you. Jewell sends her love too.

Well, it happened again, it posted before I was ready. I don’t know what causes it. I don’t hit submit.
We’ve been having 2-3 days of really hot weather, then it cools down for a few, then back to hot. We just had a couple days of cloudy days, & even some rain. But not nearly enough. IT did push out the smoky haze we’ve had for a few days. We’re getting the smoke from the Ca. fires. So. Oregon is really bad with it. It just makes the sky hazy with a pink cast. The fires out here are mostly contained now. They were mostly farm land, & wheat fields. Not sure how they got started, but I did hear farm equiment might have started one. We could use some of that rain you guys are having.
I have another inspection on Tues. I hope I pass it so I can unpack & get back to normal. It’ll seem strange when I get back to sleeping in my bed again.
I thought those Halloween decorations would go fast. I see where this week starts Temptation dayz for 2 weeks with all new stuff.

Oh Colleen, I’m sorry, I didn’t send my codolences. I went back & read about your family’s death in the family. I apologize. Sending hugs & love. I don’t always get all the posts read.
I better get off here before I lose it again.
      Have a great week girls.

      Hi Everyone,
well we had a bit of a shock. Ron got down to the funeral home and found out that it was not the cousin that he was told. It was his youngest son that killed himself. We had never met that son and really did not know that he was ever born. The only ones that we knew about was the oldest boy and the daughter. It was kind of a shock but I am glad that he found out before he went inside. I did not get to go along because of my back. So he went with his sister. Talk about being shocked that was a big one. It is hard to know how to feel. We are glad that it was not who we thought it was but sad that it was his son.
I just wrote this to all at one time. Did not want to explain this too many times.

      Hi Dd
You are such a good, kind friend. Your friends there are so lucky to have you on their side.
I hope the smoke doesn’t bother your breathing. the fires out there are on the news here every night. I bet you may have seen all the flood damage up here. We are good on my street, thank God.
Just heard Aretha Franklin is very ill. She is such a great singer, and good lady. Prayers sent for her, too.
Gary talked to Al this morning. He had his dialysis, and was having his breakfast at the restaurant he always goes to. I was glad he kept his morning routine. He said he has a lot of calls t make about Winnie’s death. I remember from my Dad that there was so much paperwork to do after he died.
I tried peeking at the Temptations- there are being sneaky- nothing new is listed….LOL
I am so sorry I missed watching the Halloween show live. Oh well.
I finished doing the ornaments for Heather. When I stretch them and glue them, I will take a pic for you to see.
To write down all your memories is a nice way to put your grief behind you. I only lost it once yesterday, so that was good. Maybe today I will not cry at all.
It is so gloomy here again. It will rain all week long.
Hope your weather will be brighter.

      OMG, Colleen
What a shock that was for poor Ron, and his sister. It is such a terrible thing when some young person takes their own life. It leaves everyone with so much guilt, thinking they should have figured it out. Nobody can figure it out. People go through the grief of the loss, and then the “woulda, shoulda, coulda’s” get you, which have no purpose but to make you feel awful. I am so sorry for your loss. Ron and his family are in my prayers.
How is Ron doing with all that?
How is your back? When we hurt our backs, it takes so much time to have the pain stop again. Us ice, for 15 minutes at a time. the ice works for me, and I hope it will help you.
      Please take care of yourself.
      Love, Adele

      DD,
I hope you pass the inspection and can put your house back in order. Passing inspection makes it sound like you are in the army, but you know what I mean.
We have been pretty lucky and have been having typical summer weather with temps in the mid 80’s. Even when I am hot I think about winter coming with the long cold nights and it makes me sad. I would take summer over winter every time. I like spring, summer and fall-winter not so much. I get cabin fever and the short days affect me adversely the older that I get.
I wonder what new temptations that they are bringing out. I’m not buying anymore but i still like to look. lol

      Hi Colleen,
What a shock that must have been for Ron and his sister! I wonder how things got mixed up like that. I know a lot of times with Greg’s bad hearing he gets things mixed up.
I will pray for the family. It is so sad when a young person does this. If only they could realize that things do get better.
I hope your back will be getting better soon. Sometimes it just takes a little twist in the wrong direction and then out it goes. And then until it heals it hurts to do just about everything. Are you pretty much flat on your back or can you do some things around the house?
Jenny’s kids still play with their cousins who live two doors away. And she is still friends with their parents. They have all gotten along remarkably through all this. I guess she would just feel awkward having Adam’s parents over for the kid’s birthdays now. Lachlan had a party with his friends so that’s what the kids like anyway at this age. We decided to skip that one anyway with all the little kids running around. I think a lot of the parents stayed so she had other adults there to help her keep everyone in line. lol
Actually she wasn’t friends with Andrea who is married to Brent’s friend until they were older. You are right-brothers don’t usually want their sisters dating their friends. I remember my brother used to tell his friends what a pill my sister was so they wouldn’t want to date her. Actually, now as an adult i really think that was his way of being protective of her though-so it’s kind of sweet looking at it in retrospect.

      Hi Adele,
I think you conveyed everything perfectly. In our darkest hours it helps to have a sense of humor about things too-it helps us get through it and see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I get a blotchy face when I have been crying a lot too.
Believe me that butterfly coming and in a flying around was no accident. That was a message from Winnie! I hope you find some peace in that.
I guess the way I look at it is everyone should get the funeral that they want as that is their final desire for their life on earth. Even if we find the wake and funeral and burial very painful to attend we do it because we love that person and we want to honor their memory in the way in which they choose. We can choose what we want but we can’t make that choice for our loved ones. What’s right for one person is not right for another. I guess death and funerals are not one size fits all.
I like the idea of a celebration of life but that is not for everyone-probably especially the older generation understands the more traditional funeral rites.
That is very funny that Bobby took the item on your shopping list for a new best friend so literally. You would think after all this time he would get his mother’s sense of humor. lol
That was quite a party on this street. Greg saw buses bringing people in and the next morning he saw a catering truck leaving. There were cars parked all up the road. And after we got home from baby sitting there were fireworks. I still don’t know which house had the party.
We had fun with the kids on Saturday. Piper was in her glory as she had me all to herself. lol We ordered some pizza and played some Uno and read a lot of books. Greg was getting into watching the live action Cinderella on TV-he’s probably disappointed because we left before it was over-so now he’ll never know how it turned out. lol
I called the vein clinic that my doctor is sending me to and made an appointment. They will see me on September 7th so that’s not very far away. I guess they do a one hour consultation and then they do a one hour ultrasound. I have a feeling that they will find some problems as my legs are very bulgy with veins. The bad part is if you have them in your thighs too which I do they have to fix the ones in your upper legs before they fix the lower legs otherwise they just go back bad again. So i may be in for a lot of procedures. The thing that bothers me the most is i know you have to wear those stocking for two weeks after a procedure and since i can’t get them on and off myself that might be a problem. Oh well, I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I hope Marissa has a wonderful trip. Can’t wait to hear all she saw and did.

      Hi Ladies,
Gail, have you seen these new socks that zip up your leg? I saw this ad on my FB page for socks that zip up the leg. Go to Planter Socks & see for yourself. Unlike regular socks, the toes are cut out so your toes are free. You step into them pull em up & zip em up. They’re called the Open Toe Plantar Compression Socks. Good Luck.
I know what you mean about the seasons. I’m looking forward to the cooler temps of fall, but not the cold dreary days of winter. It seems like it takes foreverrrrrrrrrrrr for summer to get here, then when it does it just flies by soooooooooo faaaaaaaaaaaast!!! I do wish we could get just some of that rain out here. We had a few rain drops over the weekend, but it’s gone.
I don’t really have a whole lot to write about today. Just getting ready for the bug guy tomorrow. We’ll be going down to Kays for the 4 hr lay over. We have to stay away 4 hrs during the treatment.
Well, I guess that’s all I have for today.
      Take care everyone.

      Hi All,
Well we got more bad news today. Ron’s bil died today. He is the one that had cancer and they have been expecting him to die for awhile. He lived for a lot longer then they thought he would. This has really been a bad few days for us. We could use more prayers. Ron’s sister is taking it pretty hard. They let her hold him while he was dying. That was one thing that they both wanted. He was at home with hospice care. They were really nice people.
Well that is about all from here tonight. I will get caught up later.
Adele I am glad that the funeral was not as bad as you thought that it would be. Just hang in there.
      have a good night.

      Hey Gailster!
I attached a pic of the Christmas ornaments I finished for Heather’s birthday this weekend, and one Angel for Tillie. I have 3 more to do for Tillie for Christmas, then on to Steph’s Christmas ones.
Marissa is back, all safe and sound. She will come over later. But, I told her if she is too tired that’s ok. She had a ball, and wants to go every year with the family. She is too funny.
I am glad you have the appointment for your legs scheduled. I hope it will not be as bad as you think, as the technology for doing things has imr proved a lot. Just think of how much easier it is to get a scan of your eyes when you go in for glasses. you will be in my prayers, as always. Of course!
I only cried once today, and not too bad, so there is improvement. It was more of a teary eyed thing, when I knew MArissa and Enzo were home safe.
I am glad you had some fun with Piper. tell greg to on demand the Cinderella movie….would not want him to wonder what happens….LOL that must have been funny.
I am glad that Jenny and Adam have been able to get along. So much better for the kids. HAve you met the boyfriend yet?
It has been pouring on and off up here again, with lots of thunder the last time it poured. It is so bad, I could nto sleep last night, due to the pain in my neck and shoulder. It is all the dam rain and humidity. Totally gross.
I will watch the Temptations show tomorrow too. I am dying to see what they have.
      hope your night goes well.

      OMG Colleen!….and everyone
It seems like all these awful things happen all at once.
I am so sorry about Ron’s BIL. That was so nice to let his wife hold him as he died. I am sure it will comfort her in the days to come, as he did not die alone, and let her hold him, until God could hold him. Those people from Hospice as Angels. God bless them. It is a tough job to see and help so many people die.
I will be praying for all of you, and your SIL. I hope the funeral is not too awful. It just stinks to see a loved one in a coffin.
Gail is so right. Death is as individual as each person’s life. I know I have to respect my Mom’s wishes, but it will be just awful. That said, I still hate funerals, and may act out by not going to any more. Period. For a long time.
I also hop this is the last one for all of you for many years to come. We need some good news. Happy news.
      Love you all!

      Hi Ladies,
I started a post earlier but lost it so I’m gonna try again. I had to sign back in tho.
Oh Colleen, I’m sorry to hear your latest news. You & Ron must be devastated. Those hospice nurses are angels for sure. It was good of them to allow her to spend his last moments with him that way. God Bless em. Sending love & hugs to you.
Adele, it gets easier as time goes by. It’s raw right now, so be good to yourself. And like I told ya before, write down your memories of her. It really does help. Those ornaments are adorable. That helps too. Keep the hands busy. I’m glad you enjoyed the Halloween pics. I found the T-shirts on my FB page, that’s where I find those pics I send. I figured out how to save em. I found another website featuring blankets/quilts. I’ll be sending some along with this post. Some are really cute.
We woke up to a thick layer of smoke from the fires in Ca. & now Canada. It looked like an October morning when I got up, except it was smoke. It’s supposed to be this way for a couple days. I won’t be going out anytime soon. Once the wind changes & starts coming off the Pacific it’ll push it out of here. Say, would you send that rain out here?? I know I keep harping on it but it’s so dry fires keep popping up. I’m sure you’d love to send it out here.

Well, the bug guy came today. When I came back, I found he had sprayed the sofa & rocking chair, which means he found some. that also means he’ll be back in a couple weeks to check everything out. I told Kay today I don’t feel the animosity this time like I did last yr. This guy comes early, gets done so I don’t have to wait all day. and he’s nicer too. I hope he got em all this time!!

I got a small catalog from Montgomery Ward this week. I haven’t seen a MW catalog in decades. I remember getting the big ones growing up. they always had the cutest clothes back in the day.

Did anyone see the bridge collapse in Italy? I saw clips of it but didn’t see the whole thing. I don’t remember who had family over there, but I hope they’re safe.
Well, I better get off here before I lose this one too.
      Take care.

      Hi DD
Marissa was in Italy, with Enzo’s family. She was coming home the day of the bridge collapse, and I nearly died thinking they were on that bridge. She must have seen it, as literally, seconds after I saw the report, Steph called to say MArissa text’d her to tell everyone they were at the airport, and safe. Honestly, I felt it was Winnie getting that message to me, before I lost it again….LOL
I love the Fall pics. Thank you! I am also a big Snoopy fan.
I am making American Chop Suey today. Steph, Jhonny, and the boys are here in the pool. It is Jhonny’s day off. i hope they stay for dinner, as they all like what I am making, accept Steph….she is tough on what she will and will not eat.
I was disappointed with the Temptations new things. Not one Figural Harvest of Pumpkin in the group.
Remember I said I missed that beautiful Pumpkin mand on Dave’s Halloween show? Well, I was on a mission. I googled the name of it, and the manufacturer. I found it on the Grandinroad catalog site. It was 199.00, and they had 25% off, with free shipping. The Q had it for 249.00, with delivery fee. So, I got it. I have been so bad lately with the new Halloween stuff. I am doing the Retail Therapy, that Gail made famous.
I will add a prayer that the bugs are all gone. Have you been getting bit? Bobby said the adult bug can feed only once a year. They live off the blood that long. The juveniles feed more. I pray you are not getting bit. That would be awful.
I can’t believe Montgomery Ward still exists! I miss the Sears catalogs. The kids used the annual “Wish Book” as their Bible….LOL
I hope the awful smoke gets pushed out of your area. You don’t need another issue to deal with. I htink of you evry time we see footage of those awful fires.
      Love you!

      Hi DD,
Thanks for the info on the socks with the zippers. It’s something to keep in mind.
I didn’t know that Montgomery Wards still exists either. We used to have one of those stores here in town where you could order the stuff you wanted and go pick it up there. There was also a Sears store in town that did the same thing.
You posted some other things that I like. Sunflowers and quilts! I also like Black Eyed Susans. There’s a patch of them alongside the road that we pass coming and going from town and every time we drive by it makes me think of my sister whose name is Susan. They just make me smile. Then when I was in town today going to the hospital to get bloodwork done I passed a yard that was full of sunflowers. Adele needs some in her yard. They would cheer her up and the birds come and eat the seeds from the flowers in the fall.
I loved both of those quilts. The Halloween one and the one with the kitties. There’s a quilt on Etsy that i just love. It’s of a bookshelf full of books. I look it up every now and then and drool. It is custom made and quite pricey but a girl can dream. The Q used to do quilt shows in the old days. I miss those although I don’t need any more quilts. Most of the ones i have are queen sized and we now have a king bed-so I have to use them on the beds in the spare rooms-boo hoo.

      Hi Adele,
I knew that as soon as I saw that bridge collapse in Italy that you would be freaking out even if it was nowhere near to where Marissa was. I’m glad that she was at the airport and texted right away. I’m glad she had a wonderful time. What part of Italy was she in? It’s great that the family gets back every year to visit.
Tell Heather happy early birthday. Is she your oldest or youngest?
We have not met the boyfriend yet. Who knows maybe he will be a thing of the past before it even gets that far.
Thinking of the kids and their first day of school tomorrow. Jenny’s baby will now be going full time to kindergarten. That’s always a milestone. I remember when i put each of ours on the bus that first day and then went into the house and cried. And back then they only went a half day. I doubt Piper will take the bus-I imagine Jenny will drive her and walk her in.
Yes! Retail Therapy-the great stress and sadness reliever! You know QVC’s parent company has several other companies within them and i think Grandinrood might be one of those companies. I just read the list recently and of course i can’t remember any of them but HSN and Zulily but i think Grandinrood might be one too as I remember I recognized most of the other names from catalogs.
Adele, do you remember on the first night of the Making It show the guy who came out to his parents and then they sent a funeral wreath to his work saying he was dead to them. My jaw just dropped. How could you be so cruel to your own child?! Our old neighbor did that-by the time his daughter came out his wife had died in an accident and he just rejected the daughter. I know had his wife still been alive that never would have happened. It was so sad seeing that because what did he accomplish? He wasn’t going to change her so why couldn’t he just love her like she was. He lost both his wife and his daughter and they never reconciled. She didn’t even go to his funeral-I was really hoping that she would because i think that will always weigh heavily on her. Be the bigger person at that point and forgive and let it go.
Now no more talk of funerals. Let’s talk about those adorable ornaments. Everyone’s trees will look so cheerful with the addition of a little extra love from Adele. You are a sweetheart!

Hello friends. First of all, Colleen, I am so sorry for your sad times that you and your family are going through. Praying for you all. Also, still in my prayers for you Adele. Still praying for you all too Adele. So sad. But very very happy that your family is home safe and sound from Italy. I am happy they had such a wonderful time, but you worry like I do when family is off away from us. I love to have them close by; at least within the states. I remember telling our son when he was in the military that I would be SO grateful just to have him back in the states. He would be so very far away. And when he was hurt so badly he was so very far away. But from that terrible memory came so much happiness with his return to us. Gail, I really am not sure how the vascular docs do the vein surgery; what order they do it. But I do know the ultrasound is not painful. The most experience I had with the leg veins would be us taking parts of the veins to use for other parts of the body and recirculating the blood to other vessels. I hope everything goes well for you during the tests, and that the doctor will be able to help you with little upset to your life. You all have been so very comforting to me during all these times I am in need; and I hope that in some way I will be able reassure you all. It sounds like you and Ms. Piper had a great time. That is so funny that your husband missed the last of the show. Jerry was watching SpongeBob one afternoon when I walked in and I asked what he was doing, and he said he was wanting to see what Colin keeps saying. I thought that was sweet that he now knows what SpongeBob is instead of just pretending to when we facetime him. He is talking pretty good now; says more two words; and always will kiss the phone (which I cringe because of germs, but love so much I bought the phone cleaner from Lori Grenier off the Q and sent them LOL) and says love you, and bye bye. I hear Neal whisper in his ear to prompt him, but we just melt.
DD; surely hope you are doing well with your bug problems. Gosh, what an ordeal for you. Has anyone said what has caused this outbreak? That is just terrible. You live in such a beautiful area of the country. Our son who lives in Napa has been surrounded by the fires. It just must be a tinderbox where they are and even worse in other areas. Do you have that problem where you are? hope not. Thank you for the cute pictures. They always make me smile. And Adele, I am happy you found you fall pretty. That Grandin Road is sold on HSN I think it is. I have several things from them; but you all know my love of outdoor pretties.
I better close before this thing just disappears. I have missed our talks, and will hopefully be able to do better. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Hope Sue is doing well. Take care everyone. Hugs to all; Barbara

      Hi All,
IS anyone having trouble with this site. Right now it is on secure but when I tried to do the birthdays it went to unsecure site. I do not know what is going on. It looked like I had not been on here for a long time. This is the first time that this has happened. I have no idea what has caused it. All the other sites come in secure I wonder if they are doing some type of work on the site.
I am trying to get caught up on all the posts. It may take me awhile. The funeral service is tomorrow. They will not bury him until Monday and that is in St. Louis but we are none of us going. They do not have a big burial service there. It is the military cemetery.I do not understand it all but that is what they were told. I will be glad when this part is all over.
Gail, I am sorry that you have to have all that work to your legs. I hope that they can so something for them and you will be back to your old self again. Sounds like you had a good time with the kids and they were glad to see you. Especially Piper. That is fun when they want to read a book and just sit with you for a few minutes. I have not seen Aliza for awhile. She is coming down tomorrow. I am going to keep her entertained while Danyielle goes into the funeral home. I will take her for a walk while Danyielle is in there. I may walk her to a little restaurant and get her a soda or something and sit and talk to her. We will do something.
Adele, I hope that you are doing okay. Winnie is in a happy place. That was so neat that the butterfly came in the funeral home. I agree that was Winnie letting you all know that she is okay. Everyone does have to chose their own way of being laid out or cremated. If you want everyone to have a good time at your funeral then set it up that way. Some people want happy music everyone just sitting around remembering some of the fun things that you did. (they did) You have to make the decision. I am so glad that Marissa and Enzo are home now. You will never have to worry about it again. Just hope that she does not do this every year.lol
DD I am sorry that they had to spray again. I hope that this is the end of it all. I know that you are tired of the whole thing. I do not think that first group that sprayed did a good job or they would not have to do it again. I hope that you and Jewel are able to sleep in the bed now.
Thank you for posting all the cute fall pictures. I am ready to go pumpkin picking and going to the apple orchard. That is so much fun. There is a lot to do in the fall.
Well that is about all from here. I hope that all of you have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
I am sorry I forgot to add your post on the other. I am glad that you and Jerry are doing okay. That is cute that Jerry was watching sponge bob. There will be all kinds of cartoons that he will have to watch before too long. At least it will not be girl cartoons. lol
It is nice that we have each other on here. We all try to help each other thru hard times. If we need to complain or cry there is always our friends here to help us thru it.
      have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I never even knew this was a secure site so I have no idea if anything is different or not. I thought you just had to worry about that kind of stuff if you were ordering online. I’m not well educated on this stuff so maybe someone else knows more.
I hope you and Aliza have a nice visit. Going out for a soda or ice cream sounds like an excellent idea. It will be fun what ever you do.
Your family is in my prayers for the losses that you have suffered.

      Barbara,
So good to hear from you again. You were gone for far too long. We missed you!
Isn’t it funny the things we do so that we know what the grands are talking about.
Yes, Sponge Bob was very popular with our grands for awhile too. Greg still enjoys the occasional Sponge Bob with the kids. lol Did you know they actually made a Sponge Bob Broadway musical? What will they think of next.
I hope you are feeling well and life is getting back to normal.
How are all the puppy dogs and AutoKitty doing?
Do you have wild turkeys in your area too-you never mentioned that. We see them walking around through our yard followed by their trail of babies. They must have more than one hatch a summer as the babies are of different sizes.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing fine. I was able to get out to the store today. We woke up to cloudy skies & cooler temps. the orginal alert exxpired this afternoon, but they issued another one later in the day. There was a nice breeze when I walked over to the store. IT feels like the onshore breeze has started up, cuz I sure can tell the difference. It should clear out this weekend.
I had a post written out & it vanished yet again!!!
Barbara it was great to hear from you. We get worried when we don’t hear from ya. Yes it is tinder dry out here. Fires keep popping up. The poor fire fighters must be beyond exhausted. As for the bugs we’ve had issues with em since I’ve been here. The other residents are the biggest problem. they either have em & don;t report it, or they let people in who bring em in with em. Mostly homeless when they shouldn’t be letting them in. I don’t even know how I ended up with em. I don’t have people coming in, but I must’ve picked em up somehow. I do have bites around my ankles, but they dissappear quickly. Your little itty bitty must be growing by leaps & bounds.
Gail, I saw another ad for the compression socks.. these zip up the back & are open toed. I think they have black & beige available.
Adele, I hope you’re doing better. I’ll be sending some cute Halloween pics I found..glad you found your Mr. Halloween somewhere else.
Isn’t that sad about Aretha passing away. all the talk shows have been paying tribute to her all day.
Well,, that’s all I have for tonight. I better get off here before I lose it again.

I’ll see if I can post the one on Etsy that I drool over.

      Hi Gail,
LOL, you’re so funny. I’m glad I made you enjoyed the pics. The smoke is gone, FINALLY!!! It’s so wonderful to have the windows open & the AC off. Oh, Critt came home yesterday. He’d been back in the hospital due to dehydration. They’d given him so much diaretics that he got dehydrated. Makes ya wonder doesn’t it? But he needed to lose the fluids from around his heart.
Well, I don’t have much to gab about right now.

      Haave a great weekend, everybody.

      HEy Gailster
I was crazy yesterday. Cleaned out the bottom of my side of the closet, and threw out all the sandlas and Coach sneakers I no longer wear. MArissa took the sandlas for Enzo’s nonna in Italy, as she wears the same size. Marissa fit into a few of the sneakers, and the last 2 I just listed on Ebay. I had to finally give in, and realize I can only wear New Balance, and 2 pairs of the Coach ones, as they have higher backs for support.
I also kept my white wedding pumps, and my favorite pair of black ” portisoi” pumps with the pretty glittery balls on them- those were my wedding shoes….LOL
I also found the bag of needlepoint pictures and Christmas stockings I had. Do you believe, I had to buy about 4 stocking, as I could not find those! We need more babies, so I can make them….LOL
I was exhausted last night, and even had to take one of the indomethacin (very strong aspirin based prescription) from the gout attack. Fell ok today, thank God, as we are meeting Al and Joanne for dinner. Joanne said she is having a bad day today. Expected, as it is a week Winnie was buried.
I have been talking about all who are dead, and funerals for week, and it is driving Gary nuts. So no worries there for your talking about it.
I did see that segemnt, and was equally horrified. Who cares if anybody is gay. As long as they are good people, they are fine with me. I ahve never felt any bad feelings for anyone due to their religion, race, ethnicity, or choice in partners. I wish everyone can just accept people for who they are, and move on with life. I cannot imagine ignoring people becasue they are gay. Amanda has 2 best friends who are gay- Jeffrey and Brenda. I remember when brenda’s family rejected her at Prom, because she wanted to go with her girlfriend. It was awful for her.
I saw the pic Jenny posted of Lachlan. Very cute. Did he have a good first day? How about Piper? JJ goes back on the 28th.
Marissa was in the south of Italy. I can’t remember the name of the town.
One of our old friends posted a pic of me and 2 more of my snowmobiling buddies, with Winnie. I will post it. they also posted a wedding one of the 4 of us. Wait til you see how thinner I was, and my hair blown out, and not curly. No wonder I destroyed my shoulder….LOL
Hope your Saturday is going well….

      Hey Barbara
Well, my son just came upstairs with another huge box, and told me “enough already….I thought you were downsizing”. It is the box form the Q with the stacking pumpkins inside….LOL
My beautiful ceramic witch arrived yesterday. I had my eye on her for a long, long time. She was listing for 279 on Ebay. i kept waiting for a better price. Well, low and behold, Fitz and Floyd put her back on their website for 200, with 25% off, and free delivery. GAry was horrified that I spent that much on her. It was retail therapy to the max. I already put her out. She is with the Patriotic Annalee dolls…Ill take a pic. It is hysterical. If I buy one more thing, I am goign to ground myself, for a week….LOL
Read my post to the Gailster…..
      Love ya!
      Adele
PS…thanks for the prayers. Need prayers to stop the retail therapy.

i am also catching up on the posts, as have not been on in 2 days.
I am so sorry for your family, and Ron. It is just awful when we lose people, and so close together too. At least you will get some fun time with Aliza while DAnyielle is in the funeral parlor. It is the little ones that make us smile n time slike these. God less all our little ones, and our Quacker friends. Without them, we woudl be very sad.
Hope all goes well at the wake. These things are just so difficult. There is very little that can make us smile.
I am posting the pic of the witch I mentioned in the post to Barbara. hope you get a kick out of it.

      Hey DD!
I love, love, love all your HAlloween witch pictures. Thank you for brightening my day. I collect witches and scarecrows for Halloween decorations. I am on my way to the Poor House with the recent ones I got. I will name them all “Winnie”. I bet Winnie is laughing her butt off in Heaven watching me have Witch Meltdowns. My family thinks I have gone over the edge.
I am so sorry you have to spray again. I will bet you are getting them from the neighbors. Anytime someone has them all apartments above, below, and beside the person need to be done. If not, they just keep spreading until the whole building has them. It is not your fault, and I am terribly sorry you have to endure all of this. My heart goes out to you, and your pretty kitty. I sincerely hope they get rid of them for good.
It is humid up here, and thunderstorms are on their way. That is nothing to the bad air you are all having with the awful fires. you are in my prayers every night.
Hope you have a good Saturday.

      Hi All,
It has been crazy around here and I caught something and cannot get rid of it. I have been trying but not having any luck. I must have caught something for all the people that we shook hands with and hugged. Just hope that I did not pass it on.
Aliza is a character. There was not a place close enough for us to walk to. So we sat in the room where they serve the coffee and they had water. We went in and she looked at me and told me to sit down and lets talk. I asked her what she wanted to talk about and the first thing that she said was where is grandpa. Her and Ron are so close and she really wants to be around him. So we talked about him for a couple of minutes and then he came in the room and she was so excited. She is so cute and then they had to leave. She was good for about as long as she could stand it. When we got there she was getting out of the car and she came running to Ron and gave him a big hug and wanted him to hold her. So that it what he did until we had to go in. She stayed with Danyielle while Ron and I went in for the first viewing and then I went out and we took care of her. She is just so funny. They had a grandfathers clock in there and she could not wait to go and see it. She heard the chime and she wanted to know what it was. So we walked over to see what it was. Wish I could have gotten a picture of her standing just looking up at the at clock. She was really fascinated with it. To see things thru a childs eyes..
I love that witch. That is really cute wish that I could have gotten one of them,. I love the fall pictures that DD is posting, It sure makes me want fall to come. I do not like warm weather the cold is more my style.
DD I am glad that Crit got to come home and sorry that he was dehydrated. I bet he is glad to be back in his own place and can sleep in his own bed. that really makes a difference.
We all had a lot of hair when we were younger. It is not fair that we have to lose it as we get older. Thank heaven for wigs. lol Those are really good pictures of you and your friends. You all looked like you were having a great time.
Well that is about all from here. Hope all of you have a great night.

      Hey Colleen
Thank you for the compliments on my younger self. Age does such nasty things to us….LOL LOL But, we are alive. We have each other to talk to, and that is all that matters.
I ahve ITKWD on right now. It is sad that there seem to be no new gadgets that I do not have. Seriously? They have to come up with something!
I love DD’s Halloween pics. I really love pumpkins and witches. I have my glass pumpkins all around the house all year long, and I have the pumpkin placemats, with the Figural HArvest and pumpkin as my every day decor in the kitchen. Life is too short to have the colorful pumpkins out for only 2 months. I may decide the same thing for that pretty witch…..LOL LOL
That is such a nice story of going to the sad wake. Little children bring us so much joy. to see things through their eyes, and delight in their joy when we are sad, is a gift from God. I pray DD’s kitty brings her as much joy too. She deserves it, as well as Sue. I think Sue has a pet, but, I am not sure, as she does not speak of a pet.
We are doing Heather’s birthday today- it was actually yesterday. She is now 46. Imagine? In 2 years, I will have a 50 year old son….LOL LOL
That would have been a great picture of Aliza and the grandfather clock. I bet she was looking for the grandfather in the clock….LOL
Hope you have a good day!

Hope you all are having a quiet easy Sunday afternoon. Hope you are feeling better, Colleen. I bet you did pick up a bug at the services. It is so easy to pick up something when you are close to lots of people, and we of course want to hug our friends and loved ones at a time like that. You take care and hope this passes soon. Your sweet little grandbaby and her love for Ron. I bet he is beside himself. And they really do make us feel better; even in the worst of times with their innocence and love and smiles. I know our little fur babies do the same for us too. It has always seemed if I was sick or sad that whether it was a kitty or puppy dog that we had at the time; they sensed how I was feeling, and would lay so close by me and try to comfort me. One of my favorite memories is from many many years ago when our oldest son was only about 4 weeks old; and bless his heart had the colic so bad since birth; so I was SO tired and afraid. I didn’t know what to do to help him, and I just started to cry one night while I was holding him. and I began to see that he was staring straight in my face and as the tears were rolling down my cheeks his little sweet lips began to quiver; and I realized how he was sad for ME; and I felt like the worst mother ever; But I saw the most precious sight of pure love I had ever seen, and I will never forget how blessed I felt from that moment on. And I know you all have had one of those “moments” too.
I love the Fall pictures and decorations. Retail therapy should be added to ways to help us feel better. I just enjoy so much the Fall. It is without a doubt my favorite time of year. I don’t do well with winter. Makes me ache and really bothers Jerry but he does like it colder than me. I was watching the Q and it just sort of came to me that so many of the hosts I have watched over the years are no longer on there, and that there quite a few new hosts that I haven’t ever seen. Must come on when I am either sleeping or just not here to see.
Adele, I am pricing how much for someone to come in and clean out and either sell or donate things we have in the closets. I would feel so much better with about 1/4 of the things we have now. I had SO many dreams of what I would wear this and that too; and find that my quacker things are so comfy that I just live in them. I have a denim jumper from at least 15 years ago that I wear every summer with a tee underneath and it is still one of my favorite outfits.
Joey and Lisa left Ruby with us yesterday while they drove to a restaurant about 40 miles away for their one month of marriage celebration. They seem to be doing well, but we don’t ask. Neal called last week. They had a fire come close; so they were on some kind of alert; but thank God the firefighters got it contained quickly. I know those poor first responders are so very exhausted.
Gail, you will laugh at this I think. Jerry and I have a new “night time ritual”. We read AFTER we play solitaire on my I pad. We play the daily challenge and then two other games. We have to play cards first or we both get sleepy and fall asleep. lol
Hope Sue is doing okay and just busy enjoying her new knee. We do worry about each other. That is nice that we all are so far apart, yet so near in heart. Take care dear friends. It is taco night at the Smith house tonight. Fresh tomatoes are in at the vegetable stand on the highway. Yum Yum, Barbara

      Hi Adele,
It is fun to have the little ones around during any time. They always know how to make us happy. They have no idea what it is that they have done but they like to see us smile. I think that Sue has a pet but am not sure if it is a cat or a dog. Any pet is company and will comfort you when you feel down.
That is sad that ITKWD does not have any new gadgets that you want. Maybe when they get further into the fall they will have some new things. I think that qvc has been boring here lately. They do not have many new things that I am interested in. I am tired of looking at all the old. I think that they spoiled things when they showed the Christmas things and then they went back to the sale items in clothes and other things. Christmas stuff was so bright and cheerful. I guess that I just love Christmas things and did not want them to change. The fall items were nice also.
These children are growing so fast. My oldest is 41 and the middle daughter is getting close. That is not right. If they would stop getting older We would not get older.lol I wish that it worked that way but it doesn’t.
I have not heard from Sue but then I never do. She has not been on the site for awhile. I do not know what is going on with her. Hope that she is alright.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
It is really quite around here today. I miss all the action that is usually going on. My daughter had to work and so did the youngest grand. She works at Kentucky Fried Chicken and really likes it. Now if the oldest would find a job it would be great.
That was such a sweet story about your oldest son when he was a baby. They really do love us from the time they are born until they get older and go out on their own. It is amazing how my little grand daughter loves her grandpa. She will do anything that he wants her to do. She is a little dancer also. He gets such a big kick out of that. She just wiggles her bottom and that makes him laugh.
I do not know why I love winter so much. I would rather have to bundle up the to have to worry about getting too hot. I love snow also. It is fun to watch the kids get outside and slide and make a snowman.
Thank God that they got the fire under control before it got to where Neal lives. Those fires are really getting out of hand. Some of those that were started by people that do it for meanness is what is really a shame. I pray that they get the fires out soon.
That is really cool that you have a ritual before you go to bed. It is funny that you have to play cards so you can stay awake to read your book. Ron does not like to read so I am just sunk. I do not know what we could do to keep from getting tired. He falls asleep when we are talking with company. He is really getting old. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Anyway, just wanted to say that Sue does not have any pets as I don’t think her apartment building allows them. I think the pet you are thinking about that is her profile picture is her brother’s dog. I heard from her briefly recently so she is okay.

      Hi Ladies,
Greetings from the smoky capital of the NW. It’s supposed to get worse thru wed. night. we’re getting it from Canada, Eastern Oregon, & Idaho. The whole NW is under a thick layer of smoke from all the forest fires out here, oh I forgot the fires from Eastern Wash. I think this is alot worse than the smoke from the Gorge fire last year.
Adele, we still have a whole month of summer left. I won’t start decorating till next month. I have to get cleared of the bed bugs before I can unpack my stuff & put it away. Then I can have Diane help take the summer stuff out of here. She stores it in her beach house & I switch out each season. I’m in no hurry to take down my tropical pics just yet. My private islands, etc. lol (I can dream).
I don’t know who those ladies are. I think I know you, but not the others.
I could use some prayers for the fires & retail therapy. I’ve been doing more therapy than I should be doing. Not just things from the q, either. Altho it’s the biggest contributor.
I saw Sue had commented on a post on FB. Somebody had made a soup they showed on the q yesterday. She made it with her Vitamix, I guess.
There’s a random inspection tomorrow. The “suits” come in & inspect a certain # of apts to see if this place qualifies for Section 8. If they come here my place will be a mess due to the bug situation. I talked with the asst. manager & he told me what they’ll be looking for. Housekeeping isn’t a priorty this time. Just checking the fire sprinklers, can I get out in case of emergency, etc.
Jewell will sure be alot happier when things get back to normal. And yes she is alot of company for me. As soon as I lay down for a nap or go to bed at night she’s on top of me before I can get comfortable.

Well, I better got this off to ya before I lose the whole thing.
      take care,

      dd

      Hey Barbara!
I know exactly what you mean. there are moments of intense sadness, almost despair, and then a tiny message comes through, form a child, or God that makes us realize all will be ok, and we are blessed. Those are the glass half full moments, as I call them. They change our perspective, and make us realize the issue we are so sad about today, will pass, and we have so much more to look forward to, each and every day.
So, i incorrectly listed one of my pair of Coach shoes, and they are selling for 5.60, or so. Oh well. I tired to list them as 40.00, with best offer, hoping for about 20.00….LOL LOL They have a new way of listing items for sale, and I got confused. Someone will be very happy for that price, and at that price, I would have donated them to Salvation Army.
Only 2 weeks to Halloween decorating time. I am going to purge my Department 56 items, and Heather and steph will make a little village scene on their living room windowsill. Their sill is very wide, and can accomodate a village scene.
I am like you, all I wear is Quacker, Life is too short to be uncomfortable in clothes. Plus, who does not want to sparkle and shine every day??
I am praying for your sons marriages to continue to succeed, and that they all love each other forever.
      Love you!

      Hi Colleen
I had to sign in again. i wonder what that keeps happening to all of us.
Well, all the Halloween decorations are here, and set up in the kitchen, until after Labor Day. then, they go outside.
It has been a little boring with the same stuff on over and over again. The Halloween shows were the best!
AGT is on again tonight. I love that show. I wonder who will go tonight.
I know what you mean about the kids. Bobby is 48, and Heather is 46. Imagine??? Gary will be 70 next month. Holy crap!!
It is supposed to be awful here tomorrow- lots of rain. It was overcast all day, with no rain.
I hope your day went well!

Forgot to say, thank God the fires did not come to your son’s home. I will add another prayer for them.
I know why you love winter- no humidity or heat! Yuck.

      OMG, DD!
When will you be able to get back to normal? This is so awful, I can’t imagine how much stress it is giving to you. You are always in my prayers.
I also pray the fires will stop. So many people have lost their homes, some have died, and then the rest of you have to breathe in the bad air.
The Global Warming issue is affecting so much. We have been getting more sharks, due to the warmer water. The the humidity and heat have been out of control. We have even had the dreaded tornado warnings, and you knwo what those do to me.
Tomorrow we will have rain storms some of the day.I am not complaining, as it is much better than drought and fires. Way better. All these storms and drought will affect everything- animals, crops, etc. Some days I think God is mad at us.
I hope you watch AGT tonight. I will be glued to it.
We are having a simple supper- took out some frozen soup, and Ill have a grilled cheese and GAry will have egg salad. Simple for today.
      Love, Adele
PS….Poor Jewell must be traumatized by all the packing and people coming in and out.

      Hi Everyone,
This will be short as I never know when the laptop will shut itself off.
Barbara, good to hear from you. I’m glad the newly weds are well and that Neal is safe from the fires. I did get a chuckle from your new nightly ritual. What are you and Jerry reading now? I keep thinking of you as I am reading a book called Last Ride To Graceland. Then that made me think I wonder if Barbara ever met Elvis. We have been to Graceland and it is amazing how many people still go there so many years after his death. If you’re ever in Memphis it’s really something you have to see. We did miss the ducks at-is it the Peabody? I would make sure to see them next time.
Colleen, little Aliza sounds so sweet. It’s too bad you didn’t get a picture of her and the clock. I’ll bet she was wondering why it was called a grandfather clock as it probably didn’t look at all like Ron to her.
DD, oh no-you are really leading me into temptation with the butterfly quilts now. I have one with farm animals and one with dogs but none with butterflies-can you believe it? I must be slipping! I even have one with cardinals-in honor of our old head butting friend. lol
Adele, do you have a whole Department 56 Halloween village? My friend and I used to go into this one store that had a whole room of displays of the different villages and they are spectacular! She had a rare fiber optic Halloween house from them that she lost in a flood. Remember when fiber optic decorations were so popular/ I loved them. Fortunately I still have some that work. Two pumpkins! I’ll bet you’re jealous. Loved the pictures of the girls. All that dark hair. Which one was Winnie?
Greg just got back from up north. it was his week to go to Canada but that trip was cancelled for various reasons. So he went up to Tim’s in Wisconsin to fish. I was invited too but I had a doctor’s appointment. He was supposed to come home tomorrow but their fishing guide cancelled them so he came home today. I got all panicked and called him this morning because I went out to the pond and it was making a horrific noise and the water was about two feet down. So I just had to unplug some stuff and he told me then that he was on his way home and he would take care of it when he got here. I was afraid the whole pond would empty and I would have to put all the fish in the bathtub. lol I had to chase away the damn blue heron this morning too. We need one of those dogs like they use to chase the geese off the runways at airports except we would have to train him to chase herons. Better post this before the puter gives out.

      Hi Ladies,
Just a short note. There’s a QF show Thurs. afternoon. I think it said 3 pm ET. I didn’t get picked out for the random inspection today. They did go into
Kay’s, but the guy was in & out. He checked certain things & left & that was it. I guess everyone thought it was for housekeeping like our annual inspects.
I’m sick of this smoky air. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. But there is light at the end of this mess. The winds are supposed to change to overnight & come in from the ocean. And the temps will drop down into the 70s. I think (hope) it’s the end of the 90’s for this summer. We could even get a few showers next week!!
I hope you get a good computer, Gail. I’ve got a couple from the Q on 6 easy pays. the first was a Dell, & it lasted me several yrs. Then I got an HP & it still works, but I can tell somethings aren’t working anymore.
Well, that’s all I have for tonight. ITKWM is on tonight with a new TSV. Don’t know what it is tho.

      have a good day

      Hi Gail,
I hope that you get a new lap top soon. It is aggravating when your computer does not work. Mine is still acting up and I need to make up my mind what I want and what internet company that I want to go thru. Verizon really is not the company for us.
Aliza can be sweet but then she can be a little stinker also. She may have been thinking that it did not look like Ron. She is really getting to where she talks a lot better now and she says some really cute things. It is fun when they get to where they can say a lot of things and put sentences together. She will be three in January. It is really hard to believe.
How are things going with the veins in your legs. Have they started to do the surgeries on them yet? It is rough when there are problems with your legs. This has all got to stop. We all need to get better and not have any more pain or things happen for a year. That would be so nice.
That was good that you got out the the pond and saw the herons there. That would have been a mess if they emptied out your pond again. Those things are a pain. I hope that you do not have a big problem with the pond. I can just picture you trying to catch all the fish and carrying them into the house to the bathroom. That would have really have made your grand kids laugh.
Did Greg catch many fish? It is a shame that you did not get to go with him. You could have done some shopping and hang out with your friend. I think that this is the place where your friend lives.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
That was nice that you did not get picked for their inspection. Do they have to give you so many days notice before they come in to inspect? I would hope that they do.
I bet you will be so glad when all that smoke clears out. I cannot believe that all the smoke is coming our way. It really makes it hard to get out and do anything when the air quality is so bad. Will be praying that it clears up soon and all the fires are put out soon.
I like that witch with all her cob webs. I had never thought of that and that is a good idea. The only problem is that spiders come with the webs. So better keep sweeping them down.
How are Kay and Crit doing? I hope that they are both doing well.Maybe you can all get together and have dinner or something. It would be nice if you could.
I like all the pictures that you have posted. I agree with Gail those pictures makes me want to go and find me some really cute quilts. I wish that I could quilt.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
Your kitchen must look very festive if you have all those decorations in there. I bet it looks good and hope not crowded. Wish that we could put a lot out in the yard but the dogs would chew on anything that they find. Your house will look so good this Halloween.
we have not watched AGT for awhile. With everyone working and going here and there we have not thought about it. Of course we have to do a lot of driving but that will end before too long. Ron does not like to drive them but we have to help them out when we can.
Ron turned 70 in June. Why are they getting so old and we are so young still.lol It is so hard to see our kids age. I like to think of them as little kids. Remember all the goofy things that they did and said. We had a tape of the girls writing their letters to Santa one year. It is really cute. It was funny thinking back to all the things that they wanted back then.
We have been getting rain here off and on. It really pours and they wind is really strong and then it stops. That has happened for a couple of days. At least it does not rain all day or night.
How are things going for you? I hope things are getting better for you. How is Winnie’s family doing? I am still praying for them and for you to get thru this.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey GAil
I am glad you were able to save the koi pond, and did not need to get them all in the house. Also glad Greg is home, all safe and sound.
Winnie is the one I am holding in one of the pics. Did I tell you I saved her last phone message? I know it sounds creepy, but, every once in a while I listen to her say hello to me. I Know I will not be able to keep it forever, becas use the message system will not do it. I suppose there will be a day when I can let her voice go. Sucks.
Watched the Quacker show today. Got the tunic in one more color- brown.
I went to brunch with Nancy and Gerald today. Gerald gave me a box of tomatoes, and some baby zucchinis. He has the best harvest! I wore my Q shirt with the bushel of apples on the front. I am so done with summer….LOL We had a lot of laughs, so that was just what the doctor ordered.
I have a lot of Dept 56 Halloween and Fall pieces. I do a village on the dining room table, and one on the entertainment console in the living room, and I may do a 3rd in my back room, as I have a sofa table in there, or at the end of the kitchen on my sewing machine, and Hope Chest.. I am going to give what is left over to Heather and Steph. I do need some room for the Annalees…..LOL
I am so looking forward to getting them all out this year.
Are you going to get your Halloween things out this year?
Hope you are off getting a new laptop.

I certainly hope they finally have a handle on the bug situation. It is so exhausting, and stressful for all of you. You are in my prayers.
I saw some of the ITKWD show. I did watch the show today. Tillie got the Falling Leaves, and I got the tunic in brown.
I hope the air has changed for you, and you will be able to breathe better.
Did you see AGt last night? I am so glad the children choir is still in the running.
I hope your air is better, and the bugs are all dead!!

      Hi Colleen,
I got my new laptop yesterday and Greg finished setting it up for me today. I ended up with a Dell this time. We also looked at one just like Greg’s which is an Asus, I think, and at a Samsung. I just wish you could get a pretty laptop with butterflies or flowers or puppies on it. They are all so bland looking.
Greg didn’t catch many fish up north. One day they went out for muskies and got nothing. That’s why it’s so much better in Canada they always catch tons-of course they do catch and release other than the few meals they have of Walleye.
I have not been to the vein doctor yet. I go September 7th. I did see my doctor about the discoloration on my legs as I was afraid it was another weird autoimmune thing on my legs like I had before but she said this is from the veins-it has a name if only I could remember it. lol
I did miss seeing my friend Nan when the guys were fishing. We would have gone shopping and maybe to the movies as I really want to see Crazy Rich Asians and Mama Mia 2. Anyway, Greg ended up coming home earlier so I got my new computer earlier too then.

      Hi Colleen
It is funny in this kitchen. I positioned the pumpkin man and stack of pumpkins in between the sewing machine and china cabinet, so they are not sticking out too much. They will be outside next weekend- yahoo! I think I will light them this weekend, so I can enjoy looking at them.
It is a lot of driving with teenagers.I remember when the girls were here for a while, until they got their apartment. They had to be in school at 7:30, and Heather was at work at 6:30- Dunkin Donuts. Thank God for Gary, as I would have died, because I was getting dressed for work at that time.
Are they all ready for school? JJ starts Tuesday, and it will be over 90 again, with high humidity. The girls start back at college after Labor Day.
It was very pretty here today. Humidity gone, and in the high 70’s. A very nice day for my brunch out with Nancy and Gerald.b gerald gave me a lot of tomatoes, and some zucchini. GAry just told me one of his customers gave me some veggies from their yard too. Yahoo!
I talk to Joanne about every other day. She wrote me the nicest thank you note. Made me teary eyed, of course. She said she has the Angel ornament I made for Winnie, but, the hospital did not return the witch hat ornament, with all of Winnie’s belongings. that is all I had to hear- got n Amazon, and ordered another one to make for her of course. As soon as it arrives, I will start it, so she has it for Labor day…..I hope!
Al is very busy trying to get all of their affairs in order. Joanne sad the early morning is the worst for her. I have to try to remember to call her a lot earlier. I was not calling early, so she could sleep in a bit. I woudl hate to wake her up.
I hope your day is goign well!

      Hi Adele,
You keep that phone message as long as you need to. I think it’s comforting to have things like that when someone we care about is gone. I never understood the mentality of getting rid of the deceased person’s stuff immediately like you are trying to erase all traces of them. That doesn’t make the loss any easier when there are no physical reminders of the person around. In fact, I think it makes it harder to grieve-it makes it easier to get over when we have something physical that we can look at or listen to and be reminded of the person. I know people just want us to “get over” it so that we can be ourselves again but that’s not how it works-grieving is a process-not an event. When Abby died I thought I would bury her ashes in our little pet cemetery out back with the cats and the other dogs-well when the ground unfroze I found that I just couldn’t part with her and now I have her ashes,Rocky’s and Belle’s lined up on the one TV armoire behind a row of pictures and no one even knows that they are there but it comforts me. Brent had beautiful pendants made with a stone out of Kim’s ashes for himself and each of Kim’s girls. I think it’s a touching memorial and I’ll bet they are glad that he did that. They can wear a piece of their Mom close to their hearts.
I’m glad you went to brunch with your friends. I think it’s just what the doctor ordered.
Are any of the Department 56 pieces lighted? Please post pics when you put them up. I love little villages.
I’m glad the trapeze artists made it through and the guys that made belly noises didn’t. Usually I don’t like the danger acts but I really like the trapeze artists. He just flips her around like she’s a piece of cotton candy. And I hope they do good as I would love to see them get a permanent act somewhere where they wouldn’t have to travel and could spend more time with their little boy. Plus I have a bit of a selfish reason too as I enjoy looking at his muscles. lol
Missed the show today as I had to record golf for Greg-will go to the Q site and check it out.
I don’t know if I will put out my Halloween decor this year but I really want to get out the fall stuff as that can go from September through Thanksgiving. So my intentions are good-now I just have to follow through and not let anything else get in the way. I did get some new stuff from Valerie for fall to inspire me. I don’t want summer to be over-I wouldn’t mind if we could just skip winter and have spring summer and fall. I don’t think there’s any state like that though.

All of you wanting summer to be over send it to me as I am still waiting for summer to show up. We had winter all through spring & have had all rain for what should have been summer. Today finally sun & no rain but was in the 50’s this morning and 70’s today heading back to the 50’s tonight. So not feeling like summer. At least we have daylight still tonight. It has been so dark we sure did not have longer days either. We are to stay dry through the weekend so we will see. Next week they say we could have a heatwave. I will believe it when I see it. I am so jealous of everyone with fresh veggies. I love all the fresh veggies in summer as we always have farmers with roadside stands but not this year. I did get 2 doz of corn but it was small. I would like more to freeze but most likely won’t find anymore. My neighbor is getting tomatoes now that he shares with me. They are small but I will take what I can get. He said if we get some sun more should be coming.
I gave my neighbor a key to my place so if there was an emergency someone could get in, also if I locked myself out. After my vertigo episode I figured what if I would not have been able to get to the door to leave the ambulance people in, so now someone has a key if something happens.
My legs will not get any better as my back is full of arthritis (doctor had a fancy name for it) and I have nerve damage, so they can just give me shots for pain. I am not in pain that I cannot handle yet but was wanting to get around better. Guess I will be stuck home alone if I cannot get up from chairs.
Gail you were talking of having your dogs ashes. My friend Betty, that drove me home from the hospital, was telling me their dog died and she did not know what to do with the ashes so when they put the stone on her husbands grave she had the dogs ashes put under it. I thought that was a nice idea that Gary & the dog are together.

      Hi Ladies,
FINALLLLLLY!!! The smoke is GONE!!! The winds changed this afternoon & blew it out of here!! Yesssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!! I took a nap & woke up to blue skies overhead. I let out a shriek of delight & joy. It was worse today but it’s gone now. I’m looking at blue skies & clouds that came in off the Pacific. I haven’t been able to open my windows all week it’s been so bad. It was bad for everyone, not just those with health issues. Kids weren’t allowed out to practice their sports or play outdoors.
No the hurricane won’t affect us. It’s on the other side of the world. Too bad, tho. We could use some of that wind & rain to help put out those fires & blow the smoke all the way outta here. It would definetly help clear out the air!
Adele, you keep that message for as long as you can. I kept a message someone left me for as long as my phone was working. I lost it as soon as the phone wasn’t working anymore. And don’t feel you;re being foolish or feel you have to explain it to us. We’re here & we don’t judge. IT’s not our place to.

What is Dept. 56? I’ve never heard of it. I don’t have a Halloween village. I do have a few items I put out on my door, but it’s mostly fall decor I put out.
I can feel fall in the air. It gets cooler at night, & quicker too. There’s a nip in the morning, too. I’m looking forward to the cooler temps that’s for sure.
Gail, congrats on your new laptop. It’s fun to get a new toy. It is for me anyway. Have fun with it.
I watched the show today, but didn’t get anything. Can’t afford to!!
Colleen, yes they do have to give us 48 hr notice that someone will be coming into my apt. It’s the law. They usually put the notice on the door several days before the date of inspection or bug treatments.
I’m glad you enjoy the pics I put on here.
I better get off here before I lose it & have to start all over again.

      Hi Sue,
I think I can safely speak for alot people out here & say we would LOVE to send you some of this hot dry weather we’ve had this summer. We broke another record this week for the most 90 degree days this summer. So far it’s 30 or 31 days. Our normal is around a dozen or so for all summer. Oh, in exchange for some of that rain you guys have been getting all summer long. As you see, I already posted before I saw yours.

I’m sorry you’re having such a bad time with your legs & back. Is it Osteoarthritis? From what I hear it’s really painful. Do you have a walker? I was given one when I went to the hospital when I fell out of bed. I used it to get up from the sofa or bed. I felt secure using it too. I took it back after I felt better & could get up on my own. Have you ever considered getting a power chair? I believe Medicare pays for it. When I first moved here & had signed up for Medicare I started getting notices in the mail for them. I have no idea where they got my name & address as I never looked into it.
      Just a thought.
      take care.

Christine has a chest and kidney infection. She is at home but not resting like she is supposed to be. She will not listen to me. She needs to give herself time to get better.
Adele I would do the same thing if a person died that I was close to. It is nice to be able to listen to their voice. So just keep it like the others said keep it as long as you feel you want it. All of my grands are in school already. The two that live in Tennessee started in the end of July. The others started on the 14th and 16th of August. They are having them start earlier and earlier every year. Pretty soon they will have eliminated summer vacation all together. We have had a lot of fresh veggies and would have gladly shared with everyone. We had a good year this year. Who knows what it will be like next year.
Gail, I am so glad that you got your new lap top and Greg set it up for you. So now you will be able to e mail and do a lot of looking for new and exciting books. I do not know why I thought that you had already set up the appointment to get that done. I need to get on here earlier. I do not read everything right at night.
DD, That is good that they give you notice. So you can be ready when they come to inspect. I hope that they have gotten rid of all the bugs that you had. That is terrible that you got them again. I just do not think that the first group did a good job. That is terrible. We do appreciate the pictures that you post on here. They are always so cheerful. You know what pictures we all need to see. Thank you.
I hope that all of you have a great night.

      Sue,
Good idea to give your neighbor a key.
I’m not looking for summer to be over. I don’t like winter at all. I hope your weather will get better and that you have a nice warm fall season.
I wish we could share some garden veggies with you.
That was a good idea to put the dog’s ashes under her husbands headstone. I will just keep ours where they are now unless I ever decide to bury them. Other wise the kids will inherit them when we are gone. lol Just what they always wanted. lol
I wonder if you have spinal stenosis. That’s what Greg has that makes his feet numb and his legs feel weak. There isn’t much they can do right now except shots. If it would get worse they could do surgery if necessary.

      Hi DD,
That was a good idea for Sue about the automatic chair. We used to have one for my MIL. After she died we gave it to the Care Center where she spent her last few months.
I’m glad your air has cleared out.
Department 56 is a company that makes little houses for villages. They have all sorts of houses and accessories that are very detailed and extensive. You could set up whole villages of many different kinds. I remember the Halloween and the Christmas towns the best but there are others.
I’ll bet if you googled it you could find pictures of the individual pieces and maybe even some of whole villages already set up. It’s one of those things that if you start collecting it’s hard to stop as there is always something new and different.

      Colleen,
I’m glad to get the new computer too. Yes, you know me I’m always looking at book sites and book reviews.
I hope Christine will be better. Doesn’t she just have one kidney too? She needs to take care of herself and listen to doctor’s orders-and yours!
I will continue to say prayers for her.
You probably got my regular doctor visit mixed up with the vein doctor visit. It’s hard to keep track of all this stuff with all of us going to different doctor’s for different things. How has your back been feeling?
I thought with the new computer maybe I would start getting the notifications in my emails again but I haven’t. I still wonder why they stopped for me. I talked to James when it originally happened and he said it wasn’t on his end so that was about it. Well I have lived without them for this long so I can continue to do so. I am just curious so it would be nice to know why.
Our kids went back to school on the 16th too. Like you say pretty soon there will be no summer vacation.

      Hi Ladies,
We went from hot dry summer right into fall, overnight!!! The air quality went from 167, dangerous to everyone, down to 14 in just a few hrs! When the winds switched to off the ocean they blew that smoke right out of here!! We could get some showers over the weekend. I was able to go to the store today. I had to get a jacket out cuz it was so much cooler.
I can’t believe it’s almost Labor day weekend next week. I can’t believe the kids are back in school already. The teachers in Wa. state are striking if they don’t get their pay raises. One district in Vancouver, Wa., across the river from us has already voted to strike. I don’t know what Oregon’s teachers are going to do. I havent’ heard.

I’ll have to google Dept. 56 & see what they have. On second thought, maybe I shouldn’t. LOL I could go broke!!I love villages. I got most all my “villages” from the Dollar Tree. More affordable that way.
Gail, on your computer should have an icon, looks like a gear, that is settings. Click on that & it will take you to several choices of operations. Look for notifications & see if it’s on or off.. If it’s off, click it to on & see what happens. It probably won’t work till you get back on the computer. Whenever you change something it won’t change till you turn off the computer, then restart it. It’s just a thought.
Just experiment & see what happens. That’s what I do. Have fun.
Guess I better get off here for now.
      Have a great weekend!!!

So sorry to hear that Christine is feeling bad and has been in the hospital. She has written to me several times, and she is such a sweet caring person, and I remember how much she and Stewart enjoyed the time they came to visit with you and Ron, Colleen. You all had so much fun. I will remember her in my prayers, and hope she will soon be better. I love her stories of how different it is where she lives compared to us; and of course of love of little animals too.
Sue, I hope you are doing better too. I think that was a really good idea to see if you can get one of those lift chairs to help you stand up easier. My BIL had one; and it helped him so much; and Jerry got one for his Mom; and she get upset if she sees someone sitting in her chair. It’s funny but she is serious. It was so hard to fix up her room at the care home; the just “knowing” that unless something changed, that this would be her home for the rest of her life. She, for as long as I can remember, always had a cup of black coffee as soon as she got up, and now she doesn’t even drink coffee. It is like she just doesn’t even think of something she did for over 70 years.
Our temps have gone down a little as well, DD. It was very very hot and humid here but we had thunderstorms, one right after another for about two weeks, and the humidity went down and it is around 90 each day now. Most of our vegetables at the stands on the roads are smaller this year, but taste SO good. Jerry and I have eaten so much tomatoes and fresh corn that we are surely getting in our supply of veggies. Did I tell you all this new way I have found to cook corn on the cob? It is so simple. You just put the whole ear of corn, shucks and all, wrapped in a damp paper towel, into the microwave for 45 seconds; wait a couple of minutes and then hold onto the stalk end of the corn cob with paper towels or something to keep the cob from burning your hard; cut the pointed end of the ear off; and then squeeze the cob at the round end and the corn cob just comes sliding out with no silks or anthing on it. Sounds crazy, but it works. Then you just salt and butter the ear of corn and enjoy. It is so fast and easy and I can make just one or two ears for us. I always make it this way. You may want to try this.
Jerry and I rode to Jackson Tn. yesterday to meet his brother and our SIL for lunch at Cracker Barrel. It was good for both of us. He has been struggling with his ulcerative colitis for weeks; but is better now. My SIL has rheumatoid arthritis and has had a flare up. It’s like she said, it has been so hard for us to get together because of all of us going to doctors appointments. I really love them both. They are such good people. I wish we lived closer.
I love how you all are thinking of Fall, and how you’re decorating. Sounds just beautiful. Adele, I think you are just doing so well dealing with all the loss and sorrow you are gong through, and yet still smiling and helping everyone. As hard as life can be; even those parts help us count our blessings and see the beauty that life is, and precious. May God help us as we try to understand the why’s.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Gail, enjoy your new toy. Take care everyone, Barbara

      Hi Barbara,
It is different there then it is here. They use some really unusual sayings. I guess that Christine has trouble understanding some of the sayings that we have. The one that always is funny cookies. They are crackers there and crackers here a not sweet at all so that is different. We did have a good time when they were here and I am hoping that they will get to come again.
We have not had that much corn on the cob here this summer. That is one thing that they did not have at the store as much. We had so many veggies this year that we did not go to any Farmers markets. We still are getting tomatoes and zucchini out of the garden. We have really had a good garden this year.
I love to eat at Cracker Barrel they really have good food. That must have been fun to go out and meet Jerry’s brother and his wife. It does not seem like we see each other as much as we use to since we have gotten older. I am talking about all of us. It is just that our friends and family are all getting older. We are in the golden years. lol
You did find a good way to fix corn on the cob. I am going to try and do that. It sounds good.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Gail,
Christine does only have one kidney. She needs to take care of that one. It would be a mess if she had to have a transplant. If that happened I would have to get on a boat and go over there.
I have been finding all of my notifications in my spam mail. I am trying to stop them from going in there. I really do not like to have to go thru all the spam that I get. So I go thru all of them and move the ones that I want into my in box. I just hope that I do not have to continue to do this. You would think that since I open those certain e-mails all the time they would not have gone to my spam box. I will just have to keep trying.
My back is doing a lot better then it was. I have been going back to the back doctor and he has been adjusting it and it has really helped. So now it is feeling a lot better.
How is Brent doing? I hope that he is feeling a lot better then he was and the new doctor is working out better. He has really had a rough time lately. It is time for him to have a good year.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I am so glad that the air is a lot better now then it was. It must have been nice to get to go out and do something. It is hard to be trapped inside and have to stay there. I can imagine how hard that it was on the kids having to stay inside.
It seems so unfair that teachers go on strike right when it is time for school to start. It would be nice if they would have started negotiating at the end of school last year and could have done all that over the summer. They use the kids a pawns.
If you like to do crafts you can find those villages that you pain yourself and they are not all that expensive, I like to do those once in awhile but I have so many villages that I cannot put them all out. They were fun to do when I was younger and had more room in the house. We live in a smaller place now and if I brought anymore things in here to be stored Ron would have a fit. We would have to empty out the house to store all the Christmas things that I would like to have. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I’m gonna try doing this again. I just got an email about the Temptations TSV coming up. It’s a 21 piece bakeware set, & it comes in BOOFETTI in Old World. IT’s new this yr as far as I know. I’ve never seen it before in a full set of Temptations. I’m pretty sure it’ll be the TSV on Wed. It’s really cute.

Oh, I’m pretty sure you;ve all heard of Pinterest. I went on there last night & I found numerous pics of Halloween from back in the day. Also Thanksgiving. You can find just about anything on there. That’s where I’ve gotten some of my old Victorian pics. I get most from my FB page but Pinterest helps a lot.
It’s a lot cooler out here today. I can feel fall in the air. Refreshing!!!
      That’s about all for now.
      take care.

      Hi Colleen,
I’m glad that your back is feeling better. Has the back doctor had any interesting tips for you this go round?
Now I’m getting mixed up and can’t remember who is older Kylie or Brooklin-I think maybe Kylie is the one already graduated. Is she taking college courses now? Is Brooklyn a junior or senior? Lachlan didn’t say much about school but Kendall said it was good this year. She’s going to join band this year and play the flute. Jenny played flute in grade school too. I guess none of them want to follow in my footsteps and play the clarinet. I actually still have mine. I guess it’s an antique now. lol I even still have my medals in the clarinet case.
Kendall has started to read the Harry Potter books so I guess I will have to finally read them myself so we can discuss them.
Piper was telling us the colors that she learned in Spanish. All the kids are enrolled in the bilingual program. She was all wound up because they were going to Magic Waters on Saturday. Luckily they weren’t going until the afternoon as it was very overcast yesterday morning but then cleared up and warmed up for the afternoon. Greg went out fishing yesterday. He caught a big bass and he wanted a picture so he ended up having to take a selfie of himself and the fish. That must have been funny trying to watch him do that.
I haven’t heard back from Brent yet about his last doctor’s visit. I hope he made some progress.

      Hi Barbara,
You know Greg has told me about that method of cooking corn too but I have never tried it. We are having lots of corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers too. I feel like we eat really healthy in the summer with all the fresh vegetables. After Labor Day the good Marai corn will be gone for another year. That makes me sad as then I know fall is really coming-fall is good-winter is bad-and it seems like the longest season even though technically on the calendar they are all equal.
Do you have a restaurant called The Machine Shed by you-they sort of remind me of Cracker Barrel. I think they are a chain too but maybe in limited places.
I hope you are feeling better now. How old is Colin getting to be?

      Hi DD,
Oh yes Pinterest is the best for finding ideas and pictures of things. It’s really helpful for party and wedding planning and home decorating too.
You know now that you mentioned getting an email from the Q I realized I never get those anymore either. I do get the ones from Quacker Factory though. But I used to get emails from the Q about other TSV’s like from Susan Graver or Denim and Co. Oh well, I’ve managed this long without them so I guess it’s not that important. I’m watching the tributes pouring in on the news for Senator McCain. He was well liked by both sides of the aisle. That’s a good thing to see when sometimes this country seems so divided. He really was a hero. I can’t even imagine what it must have been like to be imprisoned and tortured by the Viet Kong.
Maybe they will have some pretty fall dishes on Wednesday. I’ll bet Adele is both hoping they will and hoping they won’t. lol

      Hey Gailster!
I think it is a process too, and people need to get rid of the belongings when they are ready. the very next day is a little too stressful for me.
That new thing of making a piece of jewelry form some ashes initially creeped me out. But, as I hear more of it, I am getting more comfortable with it.
I am putting out only Fall stuff in the living room, so that stays. the kitchen and dining room will be all Halloween. Of course I will take a pic of my madness….LOL
OMG….I see the kids coming on the camera, so this will have to be quick. I am making the last Pesto Sauce today from my harvest, and I made a berry summer cake.
Hope all is good out there!
      Love ya!
Ill read the rest of the posts when the kids are gone…

      Hi Sue
The kids left, and we are all done cleaning up the kitchen. they helped a lot, bit there was still stuff to do. As it is late, this may be the last one I answer for today. I will definitely get to all tomorrow.
It has still been hot up here, with cool nights, but humidity still here too. Tomorrow and until Thursday, it will bein the 90’s with very high humidity. Some schools have called half days for the week, due to the heat.
I know what you are dealing with regards to your back. I have had the shots in the back, and some worked better than others. If the vertebrae are too far gone, they may not work- that is when I had to have the 2 surgeries I had. I will pray for your back to respond to the shots, if you choose to get them. they do work great, and for a long time, when they work. Kind of like the ones for the knee.
I think it was a great idea to give your neighbor a key, and make them a contact for you. I get concerned for you, being there all alone. This aging is not fun at all.
I was lucky to get tomatoes from my friend, and one of GAry’s customers. Bobby said he will do a marinara sauce with them, some time this week, when he gets home at a reasonable time. I could never stand that long to get all the skin off the tomatoes….LOL
I am so glad we heard from you. I hope you get better weather than we will have this week.
We got the smoke from DD’s section of the country the last 2 days. I was amazed it came this way. Everything all have been dealing with this summer is awful- the fires, heat, volcano eruptions, etc. It is concerning, for sure. We need to treat the earth with respect, as it is the only one we have.
      Love, Adele

      Hi DD!
I always love your pretty pictures, especially the Fall ones.
I am so glad the air cleared for you and your friends. It must have been awful to smell all that smoke.
Guess what….we had remnants of the smoke here for the past 2 days. Do you believe it?
Department 56 are little houses that light up, and make noise. All kinds of accessories to make a Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas village scene. Google them, you will be amazed. I got a lot at very good prices- some on Ebay, and some from store sales. I ahve a lot of Halloween, with some that can be used until Thanksgiving, as they have no jack o lantern, just pumpkins. I ahve one Christmas house. I will take pics when I set them all up.
Thank you, I will continue to leave the recording of her voice on, for as long as I can…that it will let me. I am also very grateful that I have become close with her sister Joanne. I tld Joanne that Winnie left me a sister, and we both laughed. When she called me the other day, she said…”hey, sister”. God works in mysterious ways. I am thankful.
I hope your weather stays nice. Also hope the bugs are gone forever.
      Love you!

      Hi Colleen
Thank you for the kind words. Please read my posts to the girls for the news of the day…not much news. HAd the kids here today to us the pool, and i made the last batch of Pesto Sauce, as there is no more basil out there. With the hot weather, it may grow some more….who knows!
I hope your daughter gets better soon, and she does not get worst. It seems as soon as the kids are in school, someone gets sick. Happens every year. Amanda stopped by earlier, and she either has a bad cold, or severe allergies.
I am goign to watch Chesapeake Shores shortly. I love that show.
I am so sorry that John McCain died. he was such a good man. This is such a shame he had to suffer so much. I am sure his daugher, Meaghan is devastated. I see her every day on The View.
I have been praying for all of you. how is Ron doing?
JJ starts school Tuesday, with 90+ and high humidity. So sad the kids ahve to start back so early, andyours start earlier than ours!
      Love you!

      Hi Gail,
The back doctor is not giving me any new things to do. He was a little stand offish the other day when I was in there. It really did not bother me he gets like that every once in awhile. He has a little one and she is cutting teeth so him and his wife are not getting enough sleep. You can always tell when he has had a rough night at home with the baby.
Kylie is in college and Brook is a junior in high school. Kylie is in a two year college but she has played around enough that she is going to have to go back again for another year. I hope that she is wrong and she gets the credits she needs so she can go to a full time college.
That is really great that Kendall likes school this year. She has really had a hard time with school and she really needed to have a good year,. What grade is she in this year? I think that her and Owen are in the same grade or is it Ethan. I forget. I think that Ethan is in the 5th and Owen is in the 4th. THey are growing so fast it is hard to keep track. I know about the girls because they live in our house.
Melissa played clarinet in high school band. She really liked playing. She did that for the time that she was in high school and then never touched it again. I think that she gave it to Kylie and they lost it in one of their moves. They move a lot.
You will love the Harry Potter books. They are really good and they keep your interest. I do not know if it was a different time for me and that is why they were so interesting or if I would feel the same way now. I am like that with a few books that I have read. I should reread them and see.
i hope that they enjoyed Magic Waters. Those places are really a lot of fun for the family. I know that the grands like to go to places like that. I do not know if those places are still open here. They use to be open until after Labor Day but I am not sure anymore. Since school starts so early they may have changed it. That must really cut into their business.
That is so cool that she is learning Spanish this early in school. That will be great for her she will get to where it is normal to speak in that language. I wonder if she will keep it up when she gets older. That will be so much fun for her.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
Thanks for the heads up on the Temptations dishes. They sound really cute. Can you see them on the internet yet or do we have to wait for awhile. I would like to see them before the night that they are on air. All this stuff on the q are not coming in our e-mails like they use to. Maybe it is just the company that we go thru that is the problem.
Those Halloween pictures make me think of when we were young and sent each other valentines. Those were really happy times. We had so much fun back then. It is just good to see the pictures and to remember those days.
I am glad that you are getting cooler weather there. We are getting hot weather here. It is going to be in the 90’s for a long time. I wish that it would be over with soon. I am ready for fall and winter. I love winter.
      Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
It is a shame that they do not let the kids wait until after Labor day to go back to school. That does not make sense for them to go back so early. It is so hot this time of year and they have to run the air conditioner more and that cost more then it should. They are not very good about watching the utility bills. I guess they do not have to pay them so they do not care as much.
Senator Mc Cain was a good senator. I think that the last few years he was feeling pretty bad and did not want to do as much. That poor man really went thru a lot in his lifetime. I think that we will be hearing a lot of stories about him over these next few days.It is a shame that he had to die with cancer. He had gone thru a lot of pain in different times in his life. I do not see how he stood to be a prisoner of war. That had to be horrible. God bless him and his family.
That is really nice that you have gained a sister. It will be nice for you and Joann. You will both have each other to talk to and get thru all of this. God really does watch for all of us.
Ron is doing really well. He has been spending a lot of time with his sister. I think that he promised his bil that he would watch after her. THey were really close when they were younger. So he calls her everyday and goes down there once or twice a week. He is trying to get her house ready to sell. She wants to get out of that house it is too much for her to take care of. They were wanting to sell it before he got sick.
I am done making sauce and our tomatoes are finally getting scarce. We really had a good crop and I would have given some to all of you if we lived closer. You could have had that and zucchini we have had so many.
I still have to do dishes. Brook had to work tonight and she eats late when she works. So then I do dishes. If I do them early then I just have more dishes to do after she gets home. She has to cook something different then what we have because she is a vegetarian.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

I am thrilled the air is clear, and the fires have stopped. Thank God. no more people will be in danger.
It is gross here again. tempis 90’s, plus oppressive humidity. the poor kids are going to roast tomorrow. I would love your weather today….LOL

      Hi Barbara
I did finally email Christine. She was out of the hospital, but not feeling that good. They were to do an MRI on ehr spine, and did not. She will have to see an ortho doctor to have one done. She was glad to be home. I have not heard back from my email back, so I hope she is not in the hospital again.
Thank you for always saying kind things to me, and everyone you know. We all appreciate all you say to us, each and every time you post.
How are things going with the newlyweds? All good, I pray.
Have you face times Colin lately? I bet you have some funny stories for us.
I have been doing a lot of needlepoint ornaments. they have brought peace to my heart, and joy to everyone. Tillie has her Halloween ones up already, along with her Christmas Angel. Too funny.I have one more Christmas one to do for Tillie, which I am finishing right now. Then, I will do the Witch HAt for Winnie’s sister Joanne, and then on to Stephanie’s Christmas ones. I will stay busy for a while. It is good to keep our hands busy.
I hope your weather is good, and that you and Jerry get to sit outside to enjoy the world.

For those of you that say you do not get notifications from QVC. Go to my account, scroll down the right side & under communications click on e-mail & mobile preferences & check the boxes of what you want to receive. You will probably want to make sure promotions is checked. Even if you set these up before sometimes they get wiped out & you need to make sure the boxes are checked for what you want to receive.

      Hi Adele,
I saw the boofetti this morning and they also had some with leaves and such. The boofetti was really cute with with the spiders but I just will not get any more dishes-especially ones that I can just use for a month and half the time we are gone in October too. The ones I use at Christmas I end up using through January, February and part of March as they have snowmen on them and nothing that indicates just Christmas.
Yes, it always seems like the kids go back to school and the weather turns sweltering. Just imagine what it would have been like if we had gone back mid August years ago with no AC!
It sounds like you are using needlework for therapy. That is good on many levels because it keeps your mind occupied and when you are done you have something that you can gift to someone which also makes you feel good. I’m glad that you and Joanne have now become friends. I really do miss my girl friends and it is not easy to make new friends when you get older.
I’m so glad that you had lots of swimmers in your pool this summer. I’m sure having the kids around frequently has also helped ease the pain of your losses. I hope JJ has a wonderful school year. will Aizen go to preschool?

      Colleen,
this si the third time that I am trying to write this. I keep on hitting some wrong key and everything disappears. Grrrrrrrr!
Is Kylie the one who wants to be a doctor and find a cure for diabetes? Maybe moving and everything disrupted her studies and she is having some trouble. How is Brook doing in the new school? That would be hard changing schools junior year when you are finally an upperclassman. Is the new school bigger or smaller?
Kendall is in fifth grade this year. I can hardly believe it!
She,Lachlan and Piper are all enrolled in the bilingual program. It is optional-some kids are in the all English program but Jenny figured it wouldn’t hurt them to know another language and when they are young they learn it so easily. I think it goes all through junior high-not sure if it continues into high school. They have claaes half of the day in English and the other half in Spanish.
I think I will love the Harry Potter books too. I always enjoyed The Lord of the Rings books and movies. I think I will put them on my list for the cold winter months. I know my friend Nan loves them too. They should be quick reading as they are YA books. My reading list grows and grows. lol
The back doctor must be young if he has a teething baby. If he has any new words of wisdom on house cleaning let us know as he doesn’t know it but we find his advice amusing. lol Well I’m going to post this. Third times the charm!

      Hi Colleen
It is such an awful shame about McCain. My heart goes out to all of them. He was such a good man, an honorable man. that seems to be rare in Washington right now.
I also think it is awful the kids go back so early. The rest of the week will be over 90, with very high humidity. the “Weather Bug” I have on this computer has been “beeping warnings” at me all day….LOL
I hope Ron can get your SIL’s house ready as soon as possible. To sell her house would be the best for her to move on, and heal. Such a shame.
How is Ron holding up with all the extra work? I will add a prayer he does not hurt something.
I know what you mean about the electricity. When the kids are here, every light is on, in every room. Seriously?
Has Mandy still been doing a lot of the cooking? I hope so, as you really loved that. We all woudl….LOL
      Have a good night!

      Hi Ladies,
I did a post last night & lost it so I shut down for the night..
First of all, Adele, if you want the Boofetti I’d order asap! Tara showed a sample of what’s coming up Wed. & she said it’s a one & done offer. Once the colors & patterns sell out that’s it. She also has egg hunt, harvest, festivefetti/Christmas, & boofetti in Old world. there’s festive, shamrock, & romantic in Floral lace as well as the reg colors in each pattern. I think she’s calling it sq-oval set. I’d love to order a set, but I don’t need anymore bake ware & I’m running out of room!! LOL. I hope I didn;t leave anything out. I knew you’d like the Boofetti.

I sure can feel fall in the air out here. we had a cooler than normal weekend, didn’t make it to 70 yesterday. Even had a few sprinkles, but not a big down pour. I had to pull out my jeans already. It’s partly sunny right now. It’s supposed to be in the low 80s for a day or two, then cooler again.
Adele, do you put the tomatoes in boiling hot water before peeling em? We always did that to peaches when mom canned em. Makes it so much easier to peel. I don’t mean cook em, just drop em in really hot water.
Congrats on your new sister. that’s wonderful for you. You still have a connection with Winnie, & that’s terrific!! What is Chesapeake Shores? I’ve never heard of it.
It is sad about John McCain. they ran tributes to him all day yesterday on CNN. He truely was a war hero, good man, good Senator. I think ding-bat has sealed his fate by being so cold about Sen. McCain. Voters have looooong memories.. I had to smile when I heard former Presidents Obama & GW Bush were asked to give eulogies at the service. I see they lowered the flags out here. We have flags on one of the bridges here & they’re lowered today.
Well, I better get this sent before I lose it again.
      Have a grrrrrrrrrrrrreat week.

      Hey Gailster
I read that the kids are going to some amusement park, and all having a good time in school. They are doing bilingual classes too. I bet Piper will be entertaining you in her new language.
We got notice the school will have all half days this week, because of the heat. I figured they would have to do that. The kids belong in the pool, not a classroom in this gross weather. The news just said it will feel like 107 tomorrow. Yuck.
I looked at the boofetti set. Too bad it is so big, if it were a couple of pieces, I would getone. But, who needs all those pieces in a Halloween motif? I noticed nothing has come in the Figural HArvest pattern, and I love that one. I don’t have much need for a 1 or 2 quart baking dish. I use the 9×12 all the time.
I have been using the needlepoint as therapy….LOL
Any news on Brent? your vein appointment should be coming up soon too. I have my GP tomorrow, and the last thing I want to do is go out there. On friday, I have my back doctor. At least it will be cooler by then.
I wonder who will be voted off tonight? I guess we find out tomorrow. I think they are pretty close to the end. Pretty soon we will have DWTS back.
      Hope your night is good.

      Hey DD!
Sooo, I am on hold with the Q right now. I am trying to get the number for the new set…got it- K47541. Now, I can look at it, thanks to you!
It is the same set I already saw….LOL. I decided to get it, as I can give the smaller pieces to Steph and Heather. I do love the ramekins, and can put candy in them. The boys will get a kick out of them. Ill give a ramekin to Steph for the boys, one to Tillie, and Heather too.
Bobby said he makes a slit/score in the bottom of the tomatoes, and then drops them in the boiling water, and the skin peels right off. I will be watching him do that, as I woudl surely burn myself….LOL
I love the owl picture. I love owls and would be so thrilled to see one in my yard. Maybe some day.
So, I just heard #45 made a proclamation that the flag will stay at half mast until McCain is buried. Seriously? He orders the flag up, then proclaims it go down, when he realizes the entire country is pissed. It is embarrassing to have him in the White House.
I am getting a kick out of McCain’s having my list that I developed years ago…..”The List of People Not Allowed at a Funeral”. I amend it as needed, per who really ticks me off. I thought I was the only one with such a list.
OMG, I was wrong. AGT is on tomorrow night….LOL
Hope you have a good night.

It is another hot day here too. Our humidity is bad; like a sauna. My glasses fog up when we step outside. lol But as hot as it is; I will take this over the cold that I know is just around the corner. Seems like my poor feet and nose stay ice cold from Nov. until April. One of the hardest snows we ever had in this area was one March when I was about 14; so we always seem to have cold Easter and the little ones in all their finery are just shivering. We have had so much rain this summer that our grass has grown like crazy, and poor Joey has really been busy trying to stay on top of this. I just don’t know what we would do without him to help us. I hope and pray their marriage is going well. I am baking a ham tomorrow and doing potato salad; so they are coming up for dinner with us. Joey worked Fri, Sat and Sun night and is off for the next two; so we can have dinner as a family. Lisa seems happy, so fingers crossed. She speaks Spanish to the puppy dogs; so they know English and Spanish too Gail. lol It is so funny to have her tell one of them something and they do it. Joey speaks Spanish too. I think its great that they are offering a second language to the little ones. They are so smart and will learn so easily. Do the parents get to chose a language or is it all the same for everyone?
Thanks Sue for how to look this up on the Q. I didn’t know how to do this either. I am just the bottom of the barrel with computer skills, and I keep saying I should sign up at the senior class offered at the civic center in town. Jerry and I are going this week to see about joining the YMCA swimming classes. Jerry said he doesn’t want to be in there front of everyone; so I told him that if he wants to just swim off by himself that this is fine as long as he gets the water exercises and has some FUN. I don’t care what I look like in my swimsuit; I just want to swim again. I love swimming, and I know it will be good for us and shouldn’t hurt Jerry to do it. We told the doctor and he didn’t say not to. Speaking of the doctor, he said to me that he wants me to have an ultrasound of my neck on the left side; said there “may” be some plaque forming in that side; and he wants to check. So I have to go get this done. DOn’t know when yet; but worried all that night because having another stroke just scares me SO badly; but I prayed that everything is alright; and I am trying to just put it out of mind so to speak, and will try not to worry. Sure hope Christine is doing better. She is such a lovely lady.
Gail, our little Colin just had his second birthday on August the 14th. You all know how much we miss him. When Neal facetimed us while he was putting his little ride on Giraffe that we had sent him, he would hand tools to Neal, and say, “Oh…wowie…Da Da” and Neal said give Grandma and Paw Paw sugar, and he ran over grabbed the phone and kissed it. All we saw was his little lips, and he said “love you”. Guess I don’t have to say how much that melts our hearts. I can tell by reading your stories of how the little ones keep on changing and doing all their “little tricks” that they keep us all waiting to see what the next thing is. Even our little kitties and puppies and goldfish keep us guessing lol. I think the good Lord knew we all need something or someone in our life to love and love us back.
Better close for now. We are eating fresh tomatoes stuffed with chicken salad. I had gotten a rotisserie chicken at costco and taken some that we had leftover and fresh seasoning and it looks so good. Jerry just said, “lets eat” ha ha. I know this will be good for us; so I’m surprised he is so anxious to eat, but I did do some chocolate chip cookies earlier so he may be hurry for dessert. Everyone take care, and I hope your back is better Colleen and Sue. How are your legs doing Gail? Better I hope. Have you had your tests done yet? Take care everyone. Hugs, Barbara

      Hi Barbara
I was just about to shut this off, and saw the post.
Our weather is just as bad as yours. At night, the windows are all fogged from the humidity. Just too gross to think of going outside.
We just had salad with a sandwich tonight. Too hot to put the oven on. Tomorrow will be worst, so not sure what I will do. Plus, have to go see my GP for a check in. My blood pressure has not gone low enough to be qualified as good. So, not sure what he will do. It has gone down, but it is really still up there- this am: 164/92, just after I out some dishes away in the kitchen.
Tillie had the ultrasound on her neck years ago. She has some blockage they feel are consistent with her age.
I will add a prayer for your ultrasound to show things are good. You certainly do not need another worry.
How has Jerry’s back been lately?
God bless you for putting the oven on tomorrow. I Know your son and DIL will be thrilled to eat with you,as we all know you are a great cook! I am also praying they ill make it. It seems form what you are seeing that things are good with them.
That is an adorable story about Colin. He is such a sweet child, and he is able to know you through today’s technology. Will they be planning a trip back for the holidays? I hope so.
I am also thrilled the fires have stopped, so you no longer have to worry. Thank God. It is so wonderful they did not have to evacuate, or lose anything precious to them.
Hope you have a good evening!
      Love, Adele

I hope you were able to get the Boofetti early. I’m watching it right now & it sold out in 15 minutes. I knew it would that’s why I made sure you knew about it. My holiday set is about to sell out!! Rats!! It’s the Christmas set. Oh well. sigh. Not that I need it. lol
I hope you got the carrier as well, as I’m sure it’ll sell out too.
I’m sorry your weather is so nasty. I heard we’re in for a warm & dry winter ahead. Just what we don’t need!!!

      Hi Everyone,
Christine is doing a little better but she still has a bad cough. She is trying to get into the doctors and having trouble getting an appointment. I hope that she gets in soon and they do something for it. That is not good that she is still sick.
That is so cute that Colin came to the phone and gave you a kiss. He sounds like such a little sweetheart. I hope that they will be coming home soon for a visit and you get to hold him. I cannot believe that he is 2 already. Have they been gone that long it sure does not seem like it. He is really growing.
Adele, Ron is doing pretty good with taking care of two houses. He is really trying to keep everything done. Well at least at his sisters house. lol What is it with kids that they have to have every light in the house turned on. I guess that they think that they are going to come back into the room again soon. Who knows not even they know. IT is really hot here also. It has been in the 90s and they say that a cold front is supposed to be coming thru. It will be cooler after it comes thru. I hope that this is the last really hot spell. You really have been busy with your needle point. It is good to have that to keep you busy. You do not have to much time to think about things. You really have been making them for a lot of people. They will all really like them.
Gail, Brook hates the new school that she is in now. She does like to work though so I guess that is a plus. She really loves working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. So she has that to look forward to. The kids from her old school called her and asked her to go to the football game on Friday night and to something on Saturday so she is going to both. She is really excited to get to see all her old friends at the game. So it will be fun for her. The new school is smaller. They have all the grades in one school. That is how small it is. So that is hard for her to get use to. The back doctor is a young man and he is cute. He is also funny with all the things that he says that you should do when you have a sore back. That is why he comes up with the advice that he does. You will get use to the new computer. It sure does take awhile. We are looking for a new computer again and another internet company. That stupid hot spot box was out again yesterday we have to keep charging it. This is really getting to be a pain.
DD, you can send your cooler weather out our way. We have really been hot here. If they are right the weather will be better this week after the cold front comes thru. I sure hope that they are right. It will be nice to see the new set. I am going to look it up when I get off of here. It sounds really pretty. I am not picky what dishes use any time of the year. I would use the Halloween dishes all year round. If I bake in them then it would not matter.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

I don’t know if you saw it but they had a Boofetti cookie jar, & you could get it by itself or if you go for auto delivery you get a Christmas tree for the holidays & egg hunt for spring. I’m pretty sure there’ll be more later on today. The cookie jar is a ghost. It’s adorable. #K47673. I sent a pic of it to Messenger.

      Hi DD
I did get the carrier. Thank you for letting me know, or I would have lost out on everything. I watched the video of the set this morning, and they had some great ideas. I will still gve Steph and Heather one of the ramekins. Possibly the smallest baker to Steph for her banana bread.
So, I heard David mention….wait for it….boo fetti cookie jar. I nearly broke my fingers getting to the Q site….LOL Called Steph and told her to check it out, so I got her a cookie jar for the boys too. I saw the auto delivery one, and I already have a tree cookie jar. I did like the Egg one, though….LOL
i have to somehow make room for the new set. I can out the ramekins away easily. It’s the bigger pieces.
Joanne is having a herd time today. I asked her if she had anything with Winnie’s voice, and she does not. Asked if she would feel comforted by her voice, and she said yes. So, I will try to forward it to her. Hope I can do it.

      Hi Barbara,
Little Colin is so sweet kissing the phone. I know that just melts your hearts. I can’t believe that he is two already. His birthday is two days after Lachlan’s. I know that you must miss him so.
At one time Greg wanted to move someplace warmer after he retired but I told him I would not leave the grands as he and I grew up knowing and living around our grandparents but our own kids barely knew their grandparents and I think they missed something. Now life does intervene and adult children do move away and we have no control over that as they have to go where jobs and work takes them. But I figured that I had control over us moving away. But we never know what the future will bring as I have definitely found out this year so I will take life a day at a time and enjoy it.
I hope your tests go well and that the doctor finds no reason for you to worry.
That’s funny that Joey and Lisa’s dogs are bilingual. How do they bark in Spanish? lol
That’s a good idea for you and Jerry to swim. They always say it’s easy on the joints for those of us that have arthritis. I hope you find a place to get signed up to do that.

I’m so sorry that Brook doesn’t like the new school. Do you mean kindergarten through high school is all in the same building? wow! That would be small! I’m glad that she likes her job though. Does she want to go to college or go directly to work after high school?
I hope that Christine gets the help that she needs soon. It sure seems like the health care moves very slowly over there.
I forgot to mention when we were at Jenny’s last Friday Piper was looking at my hands and saying that I had old hands. (maybe because they are kind of veiny) and Grandpa had not old hands. Jenny was getting annoyed with her because she thought she was hurting my feelings but i said that was okay she was just speaking the truth through the eyes of a child and I am not so vain that I don’t think that I look old. lol Except i was jealous that Grandpa didn’t have old hands. lol Kids are so honest as they have yet to learn to have a filter. I can remember getting in trouble for the same type of thing when i was young.

      Oh Adele,
Your kitchen will be so cute come this Halloween. I am just chuckling over the fact that at first the set was too large and then you figured out a way to justify the purchase. I am well acquainted with that magical thinking! lol I have done it myself a few times. lol I saw that cookie jar online this morning and I wondered if you would succumb.
I have some of those carriers for food dishes and i find I never use them anymore as i don’t go to places where I take dishes anymore. Although they did come in handy years ago when I used to have to take 3 quarters of the thanksgiving and Christmas dinners into the city.
Our friend was supposed to have his back surgery next week but he was in yesterday for some preop tests and when they looked at him they said they couldn’t wait he needed to have the surgery immediately. So they started about six yesterday and ended about eleven. I think the first time they fused and put rods in the upper back and this time it was lower down. Greg talked to him today and he said he felt great but we thought maybe those were the pain meds talking as I’m sure he has months of PT ahead of him. I’m sure he’s glad it’s all over. He could use prayers for a successful recovery.
Well the third annual Harvard Balloon fest is this weekend. I wonder how much of a traffic mess that will make. The first year it was awful-we could barely get into town. Last year was better but there was still a lot of extra traffic around. We don’t even go to those things anymore as they are just too crowded. I am kind of curious but don’t know if I am curious enough to try and do all that walking and I don’t think Greg cares about it one way or another.
I hope your weather cools down. Last night we had rain and it cooled down. The day before the power went off about 6:30 and was off until about ten. We have no idea why but I had baked potatoes cooking in the oven which is electric but Greg was grilling meat so we just finished them off on the grill and we had coleslaw to go with it. I was mad though because I missed the whole episode of So You think You Can Dance. Saw AGT last night. Can’t even guess who will go through this time. I never noticed that one woman who sings with her husband was pregnant before. When the auditions first started she must have just barely been pregnant. that just shows how long the show takes from auditions to finals. it probably takes nine months. As soon as it’s over they probably start auditioning for next year.

Just heard from Brent. He just got back from the heart specialist. He will be wearing a monitor for the next month. He has something called Wolf Parkinson White disease or syndrome. He has an extra electrical pathway in his heart. Hopefully after the month on the monitor they will work out a treatment plan which will probably be an ablation. At least I am relieved he finally has a diagnosis and a plan of action. He said they also changed his heart meds too. I feel better knowing we are moving forward but I feel sad that he has so many physical problems to deal with between this and the UC-he must feel down at times. I will be saying some extra prayers to Kim asking that she look over him and protect him from up in heaven. Poor guy-he has had his share of troubles. I’m looking forward to our fall visit.

      Hi Gail,
I am so glad that you heard from Brent. At least now he has some answers. Wearing a heart monitor is not too bad. I have had to wear one before but not for a month. That will be nothing if it helps him to get better. I will be praying for him. We all will just hang in there I know that this has been a long deal.
Yes everyone is in that one school building. They divide them up into groups. The kindergarten thru 5th grade are in one section and then the 6th thru 10th are in another section then it is the high school. They divide the groups by lunch rooms. The junior and seniors have their own lunch room. I think that it is a good idea. It is not good for all of them eating in the same lunch room. Brook has been taking French in school but in this one they just offer Spanish one. SO she feels really lost. We will have to wait and see what happens. We may have to home school her.lol
Little kids are just truthful. But they are cute and they do not mean to hurt peoples feeling. That is why it is easy to forgive them for what they say. It is not as easy for mom’s to understand. By the time they understand what is going on they are grandmas themselves. The only way that we would look young is if we have a face lift and wear gloves on our hands. I do not think that I will have a face lift.
Will you go to the balloon fest this year? If it is really crowded we do not go to things like that anymore. Do not like to get caught in all the traffic. Just wish that we could get around a lot more then what we do. It is just when there are large crowds it gets to be too much. Oh my gosh we are getting old. I never thought that we would feel this way.
That is bad that the electric went off while you were cooking. It is a good thing that Greg had the grill going and you could put the potatoes on the grill. It is good that they got it back on. They have been better about getting our electric back on here. Before if we had a storm there was not telling when it would be back on.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
Oh Gail, I’m so sorry to hear about Brent. I’ve never heard of that disease. I’ll have to Google it. Do they know what causes it? Is it hereditary? Who is Kim? I don’t know who that is. I’ll keep him in my prayers.
Kids do say the darndest things. Do you remember Art Linkletter & his show? He’d have kids on at the end of the show & he wrote a book about kids. Piper sounds like she’s a lot of fun.
Adele, I hope you were able to get all the Boo fetti that you wanted. They sold out of a lot of colors & all but egg hunt & shamrocks in the special patterns. I wish they’d have a smaller set in that sq-oval. I’d like a small baker & the ramekins. I don’t need 21 pieces. Did you notice the absence of some of the colors & seasonal patterns? They did have a lot of sets. I’m amazed at how many sold out. Oh, did you get the pics of the cookie jar I sent on messenger?
I wanted to make sure you got a peek so you could see what it looked like.
Are ya gonna take pics of it when you get it? I want to see what it looks like when you get it all set up. I have a couple Christmas 9×13 bakers & I put em out with ornaments or some kind of scene on the lid it.
Well, that’s all I have for tonight.
      take care.

DD Have you checked on the Temptations website? They have things that are sold separately & not large sets. Like set of 2 ramekins maybe not your pattern/ You can search the site by category, Pattern etc.

      Hi Colleen
I am so sorry your granddaughter does not like her new school. It is awful when the kids hate where they are going. School is such an important part of their lives. We can all ad a prayer for her to have a good school year.
JJ loves Middle School. he even had his best friend in Kindergarten in one of his classes. they have not seen each other since then, as they have not been in the same school since then. All kids go to a different school for the half day Kindergarten in this Town. They have a lottery for a full day program, and only a small number of kids get in. Soooo, JJ was quite happy to see his old little friend. He also likes all his new teachers.
I hope Ron gets everything so done so his SIl can sell before the snow flies, as they say. Speaking of sno,, it is so gross here. We even ahve air quality warnings.
I will have to write to Christine again, to see how she is doing.
Hope your day is going well.

      DD,
I guess the disease is relatively rare. Google it as it explains it better than I can. It can be hereditary but not necessarily and since Brent is adopted and we had no medical history it was never something that we would have looked for. It says it usually shows up in the teens and twenties so it took a long time to show up in him since he is 37. Kim was Brent’s wife. She passed away on Thanksgiving Day almost four years ago. So I hope she is in heaven looking down and watching over and protecting him.
I saw this morning that that cookie jar was still available. I was surprised. That pattern was awfully cute but I don’t have any use for another cookie jar either. Especially one that is only good for a month. I like to use stuff in my fall decoration that can go from September to Thanksgiving.

      Hi Colleen,
Thank you for the prayers for Brent. I hope we are moving closer to getting this fixed. Between worrying about him and worrying about Jenny I’ll bet my hair has gone totally gray this year. But only my hairdresser will ever know for sure. lol Remember that commercial?
Wow! That really is a small school! It’s too bad she couldn’t continue with her French, but I know small districts don’t offer much for electives. I know around here they have dropped and reintroduced the art programs numerous times. I’m glad she’s getting to meet up with friends from her old school to go out and do some things. High school is a time when friends and social life are so important. When I think back I don’t really remember much of my classes but I do remember my friends and all the things we did together.
I doubt we will go to the balloon festival. We will drive by the grounds on the way in and out of town and look at it from the road. lol
We used to have power out quite a bit at our old house. It’s been pretty good here but a few times it has been out for a long time. Last year there was a storm and we had to have the refrigerator and freezer hooked up to the generator. We were without power for at least a day if not more. Thank goodness it wasn’t summer and 95 degrees. Our friends up north have a whole house generator. Mostly in case of power outages in the winter so pipes won’t freeze when they aren’t up there.

      Adele,
That is so interesting about the lottery for full day kindergarten. Around here all the kids go full day even though it is not required-at least it didn’t used to be. Some of the schools even offer free preschool. The kids now have free breakfast and lunch at school through some sort of a grant. Lots of differences from when our kids were in school.

      Hey DD
I did see the cookie jar, and got one for me and Steph- for the boys to enjoy.
I ahve not been on facebook much lately. I just went in to say happy birthday to 2 people this am, and got right out again. It has been a little hectic here. The new oil company person came yesterday to inspect our system and oil tank, kids off to school, the girls getting the last few things ready for college starting again next week, and arranging a 70th birthday party for Gary.
I decided that with all Gary ahs gone through, he deserved something special. So, I arranged a Sunday brunch, with a cake at the brunch. As it is also JJ’s birthday, Steph will bring a cake for him, as she is particular about frostings. besides the family, I invited Ron and Joyce, Al, Joanne, and my friend Nancy. I think JJ may have 1 or 2 kids coming- not sure yet.
that is why I ahve not been on here much. But, I am committing to read all the posts today….LOL
Did you get the cookie jar?
Hope you are ok, and your weather good too.

      Hey GAil!
Oh yes, I can justify any purchase…give some away, or grief therapy….LOL I saw the on air demo, and thought it was a great idea to keep the ramekins filled with candy. Not that I Need another Halloween candy dish. I LOVED the cookie jar.
Of course I will add a prayer for Greg’s friend. How is he doing today? How much of the back is now fused? Will he lose a lot of mobility? I am curious, as I cold be headed that way, sooner or later.
I am going to use the carriers to keep things hot on Thanksgiving. I thought it would be a great idea.
It is still gross here, complete with air quality warnings. Supposed to let up later today, but not sure. Then it is supposed to be back into the high 90’s again next week. Dam. My Halloween decorations will look weird sweating out there…..LOL
Are you going to Jenny’s instead of the balloon festival? Are you close to meeting the boyfriend?
Hope your weather is good for this weekend. I see my back doctor tomorrow.
I could not believe they saved the scary guy who does not talk. Hans is gone too! I loved Hans.

I suppose that is good news about Brent. At least they can move forward with a plan, after they have the results from the monitor. he is way too young for all these issues. I am with you- I bet he gets very depressed, from time to time. It has been a long haul to get answers.
Brent is always in my prayers every night. I know he has an Angel in heaven, and hope she is there with him, at all times.

It is getting dark here- looks like we have some storms coming. Some times they just pass over us. I have not heard any thunder yet.
Kim was brent’s wife. She died in a tragic car accident on Thanksgiving. Just awful.

Sorry about that one. Some days I need a sheet with all the names and ages of all the kids, grands, and pets.
Back form the doctor. I am being referred to their shoulder doctor, as my a back doctor says this needs more than he can do. He is feeling the shoulder is causing all the pain from the neck to the wrist. Also said I am losing more mobility in it, since the last time he saw me. Oh well.
Gary’s birthday is the 7th, JJ is the 9th.
We saw a little of the game- flipped back and forth. Gary was more into the Red Sox last night. Xfinity has this thing, where while you watch a show, you hit this icon, and get a line down the right side of the picture, with a square for the bases, and you can see how many bases are loaded, and when they score, and still watch the show you are watching. Not sure if I described that well….LOL
It is much better here today. Tomorrow will be good, but the heat and humidity comes back Sunday, and all of next week.
Hope your night goes well. When are you going to Branson?

Glad that the doctors are doing some detailed monitoring of Brent, Gail. I know as a young person he will get aggrevated with having to wear the monitor for a month; but that is such an efficiant way to get a real time picture of what is going on morning, noon, and night. I am sure he also has a log to keep to note if say he does have a skip beat etc. that he writes down exactly what he is doing at the time; even if he isn’t doing anything. All of this is very important in helping the doctors to understand what could be causing the event. My prayers are with you all; and I am so happy that he is I feel now on the right track. You all I know will worry until they can finish their tests; but piece of this medical “puzzle” will bring a closer answer. Does he like his doctor? Hope so.
I have missed seeing how Christine is doing now. Is she well enough to read emails? It seems from what she has told me in the past that it takes so long for her to be seen by the doctors. She is so nice. I love to hear her talk about how things are where she lives. Do you think that you and Ron will ever make a trip overseas to visit where she and Stewart live? That would be quite a trip. I always wanted to go to Ireland. There is no special reason why there vs. somewhere else, but my second choice was Italy. I remember how I used to stay up late at night and watch the gold shows from Italy and I would just love to see those beautiful ladies that were modeling all that sparkly shiny jewelry. And that all was nothing compared to how lovely the scenery was; the gardens, the fountains, it was just mesmerizing. Guess that is why I love my Quacker so much. It just brightens my day to see those sparkles, and it makes me smile and feel so good when I see other people smile at me.
DD, I love that little squirrel picture of his little hind end sticking out of the pumpkin. You put the sweetest pictures up for us. Thanks so much. Sounds like you and Adele have gotten your Halloween and Christmas tempations all lined up. I have to admit; we are using more and more throw away plates everyday. I also buy the aluminum baking pans so I don’t have to wash up my baking pans. lol I have gotten so lazy. Now, when it comes to lock and lock; I have a huge collection. One of my favorite sets is about 4 bowls that sit inside one another; each having a lid, and the largest one has a handle on the top of it. It is great for my potato salad and brocolli salad and such. I also do a fruit salad that Jerry just loves; and it keeps so well in one of the smaller ones. Just love the lady that sells it on the Q and also love lock and lock. ha ha
Well, ladies, I still don’t have any special plans for the “big” 70 day. There has been so much going on lately that we can’t seem to plan anything without something changing the plans; so after I go to the outpatient testing center on Tuesday; this is my plan. Gail, when do you plan to go to Branson? We went there years ago between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it was just beautiful. Wasn’t having as much problems back then, but we surely had a wonderful time. Sounds like fun. Colleen, is that close to you?
We are getting lots of storms almost daily. I have seen you all are really getting some bad weather too; so praying everyone is okay. We really haven’t any plans for this weekend. Joey has to work Monday; so I guess we will do something Sunday. I just want us to be together. Yesterday was our oldest sons 47th birthday. He is such a good man. Yes, Colleen, little Colin has been gone for a year and a half. And it has been over 2 years since we have seen Neal. Neal prompts him to say “love you” and most of the time he will try to, but he does always do the kiss and the bye bye. Neal has been so good to let us spend time with him on facetime. It has meant so much to us. And that little smile and belly laugh when Jerry and I start acting so goofy when he first sees us just makes our heart melt. Gail, I so agree with you about little ones just saying what is on their mind. They are too sweet and innocent to mean anything bad. I love their honesty. Take care everyone, and have a safe happy weekend. Hugs from the hot state of Tn. Barbara

      Hi Adele,
junior high always seems to be exciting for kids. Thanks for the prayers for Brook and her school. It is just too small and they do not offer the things that she wants to take. They do not have a drama department either. That is what did it for her. They have a new teacher that they think can be talked into having plays and directing them. It will be interesting to find out if they do it or not. The kids are wanting to start a petition to start a drama club.
That is unusual that they have a lottery for school. I never liked the full day kindergarten. I think that is too long for kids that age. My kids all went a half a day but the grands have done both. The older ones went a half day and the younger ones went a full day.
I got some pot stickers from QVC they are really good. We had that for dinner tonight and fixed fried rice. It was really good. The ones that I got were not salty at all. I think that someone else got them and they were salty. I guess it depends on which ones that you get.
That cookie jar is so cute. I did not order one because I do not need one. I leave my things out until I get tired of using them. I have Christmas ones out still. It is a Santa and he will be out for a lot longer. I missed seeing boofiti dishes. I think that I spelled it right. I always miss seeing the good dishes.
I hope that the shoulder doctor does you a lot of good. You have really have had some pain with the shoulder. It is funny how you can have pain in one spot and shows up in a lot of different places. Just take care of yourself. I will be praying for you.
      Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
Christine is reading e-mails and is doing better. She now has an ear ache. I wish that she would go to the doctor but I think that she is going to stop trying to get an appointment. I would love to go to England but I am scared to fly. We may go by boat but am not sure. I am hoping that she comes back here soon. I do not think that it will happen though. I would like to go to England and to Ireland. I would like to go where they get the Connemara stone. It seems like an interesting place. There is just a lot of places that I would like to go and see. Italy would be an interesting place to visit. There are not very many other countries that I would like to see.
How are you feeling? When do you have to have that test done on your neck? I hope that they do that soon. I am praying that it turns out to be nothing. Please just try not to worry about it.
Branson is not that far from here. We can drive there in one day. I have been wanting to go there and see all the decorations on the holidays. I have heard from other people that it is really pretty. It just seems like things happen here and we never make it.
We have no plans for the week-end. I do not know if we are going to even bbq this week-end. It just seems like with everyone working and all the different hours it is hard to plan anything. Brook works just about as many days as her mom does.
It is just so hard to believe that it has been that long since he moved away. Maybe he will be able to move closer to home before too long. It will be nice for everyone.
I guess if I would have been paying attention to what I was reading that I would have seen that you are going Tuesday. I should do better reading these e-mails. Sorry about that. Well that is about all from here.
      have a great night.

      Hey Barbara
I am so glad that you posted. I have heard the weather with the torrential rain, and was hoping you and Sue are ok.
I will be saying extra prayers on Tuesday, for your test to come out with good news, and an easy solution. You and Jerry are in my prayers every day.
My decorating is tkaing a turn, as the manipulations the doctor did yesterday put me in some intense pain. It will pass. Plans get changed every day, with pain levels. It is what it is, as I say.
I have to tell you what I did. I have that recording of my friend’s voice. Hes sister was having an awful day last week, and I asked her if it would comfort her to hear Winnie’s voice. She said yes, and I tried to transfer the message to her phone, to no avail. So, I called Verizon, and heard the saddest thing I ever heard. The nice lady told me it was not possible to transfer the message, and she personally knows this. Then, she told me she was working there during 9/11, and received that request many, many times. It was just not possible. She asked if the phone had a speaker feature, which it does, and suggested I transfer the message that way. I hung up, and cried my eyes out, for all those poor souls who wanted to hear their loved ones voices, and could not.
So, I took my house phone, and played the message, while I called Joanne’s phone to leave a message. It was funny, and I had to do it a few times until Joanne could hear it clearly. When she finally did, the two of us cried together. Now, Joanne can listen to Winnie’s voice any time she wants to. I felt like God and Winnie had me save her voice that day, so her people could be comforted by not losing her voice. Not hearing the voice of those we loved, who are gone, is what we end up missing the most. We have pictures, and some movies form the old days, but no voice. We all need to save messages of those who are getting older, so we have them forever.
Sorry for being so sad today. But, it is really a positive story, not a sad one. Thank God for our cell phones that allow us to do these things, and see our babies who are far away.
I sincerely hope Colin and his parents will plan a holiday trip, so you can squeeze the stuffing out of him in person. that is my prayer for you….besides the Tuesday prayer.
      Love, Adele

      Hi colleen
Well, it was an ugly night here, due to the manipulations the doctor did with the shoulder yesterday. I am tired and cranky. Took an anti-inflammatory pill they use for gout- that is how bad it was. that indomethacin- a very heavy duty aspirin thing. It will pass.
I am watching John Mccain’s funeral. So terribly sad.
I will add a prayer the teacher will agree to do a play with the kids. I am so sorry this happened to the kids in school. Not fair to take away what they love. I am hoping for the best, asour kids do not need to lose what is important to them.
I snet Christine an email this am. I hope she gets help for the ear infection.
I was the one who got the salty pot stickers….LOL Which ones did you get? I had the veggie and pork, I think.
I feel the same way you do. Kindergarten should be a half day. It does make it hard on working Moms, though. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all moms could stay home, like in the 1950’s? Life was so simple back then. Oh well.
I hope you did not have any of those awful storms. The storms have been so scary.
Hope you have a good weekend!

      Hi Adele
I hope that it feels better soon and you can move it around better. That is hard when your shoulder hurts like that. I will be praying that your arm will feel better soon. That is hard to function when you are hurting like that.
What makes me mad is that the schools put all that money our for sports but when it comes to something cultural things they will not have anything to do with that. It is just a shame that they have put so much importance on sports. These kids down here do not have anything else if they are not a jock.
The pot stickers that I got were the chicken and the vegetable. Neither one of those were salty. I was really glad that they weren’t. I wonder if the pork ws salty because it is just naturally salty. At least I think that pork is. That is a shame that they were so salty for you.
We have not had any storms they have gone around us. We have had some rain. We still need to have more. This has been a bad year for rain here.
That was such a sad story about the woman who works at the phone company and 9/11. That was a clever way to get the message to Winnies daughter. It will really make them feel better to hear her voice.
Well that is about all from here. I am going over to the September post. Will see you there.
      Have a great night,.
