Jeanne Bice loved to create gift baskets to surprise and delight her friends and houseguests. Upon arrival her guests would find a basket on their bed, filled with goodies and treats to delight, pamper and inspire them. While each basket would be special for each individual person, each would contain a rubber duck.

The baskets with rubber ducks all started after friends invited Jeanne to attend a seminar for CEOs and entrepreneurs. At the time, she was selling her clothes at a large Florida flea market. Jeanne was 55 years old and the only woman attending.

One of their assignments was to stop at a Wal-Mart and shop as a child. They were told to fill their shopping basket with things a child would buy to make them happy. Fun, playful things. Silly things. The only two ‘must buys’ were a rubber ducky and bubble bath.

Jeanne said, ‘When we got to our hotel, we had to fill the bath tub with water and bubble bath, get in the bath, and write about the experience.’

Jeanne admitted that she felt silly doing it, but she did it. And it changed her life. She learned that nothing could make the rubber duck sink. No matter if it was tossed, or submerged, it always popped right back up. Smiling. Floating. Staying true to itself. It always kept going!

That was the beginning of Rubber Ducks in Jeanne’s life! They symbolized the spirit of never giving up… acting like a kid…having fun… and being HAPPY!

So she incorporated a special version of the rubber duck as the logo for Quacker Factory. It symbolizes putting joy in life, which is what Quacker Factory designs are all about.

Jeanne began to create special ‘Lucky Ducky Stress Relief’ Baskets to give to friends and colleagues. She gave them to QVC buyers and management. She gave them to celebrities when she appeared on shows like Good Morning America, The View, Bonnie Hunt, Talk Soup, The Tony Danza Show and more.

When Isaac Mizrahi joined QVC, Jeanne made a special basket to welcome him.
