This is the best month of the year…do you know why?
Hi everyone...it's my birthday month! Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me! Yes, it is all about ME this month.
You know, I love a party and have found lots of friends who have birthday in the same month as I do...we have been dubbed the "Crabby Girls" because we are Cancers, and our sign is the crab. Every year, we have a party to celebrate...We have let some men in our group, because we love men...and besides, both my son, Tim, and my brother are "Crabby Boys." Tim's birthday is on June 28th and my brother's is on July 6th...and in case I have not told you all enough, my birthday is on July 20th. Actually, my brother and I are five years apart. So at this time of year, I always have this thought...you know how you never think of your parents having sex? Well, mine didn't. Just once a year, with a LOT of time in between. Funny, I know...but I'm so glad they did it every so often. I love my brother and we are very close. And we've gotten even closer since my mom and dad died...this does not always happen in families.
I got a tidge off track there while talking about the Crabby Girls...we have a Crabby Girl Party every year, and it sure makes growing older so much easier. My brother had a big one for us when he was 60 and I was 65...and next year we are going back to Wisconsin for 65 and 70. Well, I think I'm going to let him be the older brother, and me be the younger sister from now on...inside my head I am 35, and I really like that feeling. I can pull it off too, as long as I sit still...it's when I get up and the old legs go "oh" and "ouch." My mom used to say old age is not for sissies...and she was so right. Right now I think we will all make it to 100. How fun that will be. So for all of you who are one of the Crabby Girls with me, enjoy...treat yourself to a party or at least a cupcake with a cute cute candle...you deserve it!
Got some bad news today. A real good friend and a Cyberduck died last night in her sleep...Barbara Tobino has gone on our cruises with us and she has been to many live shows at QVC...she had a stroke a few years ago, but came back great. We will all miss her...but what a nice way to go. And I'm sure she's met lots of Quackers in Heaven and is leading them all in a loud QUACK QUACK. She was loved by all of us.
When I was at QVC last time, I spoke with two other good friends from the Cyberducks...they came and had a drink with me. Arlene is having surgery soon, and her daughter Alicia is taking good care of her. You know, this is a scary time for them and I think we do need to put them in our prayers.
I never know what to do with news like this when I get it, but I've decided that we need to talk about it and share our thoughts...when Ginger and Barb the Quacker Cop had their surgery, I just debated and debated what to do and I did nothing...and always felt bad about it. But the heck with it, I decided we needed to "share and pray." Yes, there are pits in the bowl of cherries every so often, but we might as well talk about it.
We are in the process of redoing our website...and I think we need a spot for the good stuff that is happening with all of us and the other stuff that also happens to us...we have all become great friends and this is what friends talk about. Barb the Quacker Cop always says, "Jeanne, we want to connect with each other"...and this is what we are going to be trying to do. If you have any suggestions, please send them to me at quackerfactory@bellsouth.com. Just send ideas of what you would like to see from us on the web and what suggestions you have on how we could connect better.
Let's look at some of the other stuff that's going on this month...even thought it's all about me, I do think we should all have a lot of reasons to celebrate.
July is Blueberries Month...nummy...maybe you can find a place to pick blueberries in your area, and make some blueberry pie or a blueberry jam for your toast. Or just enjoy them fresh...they are supposed to be good for your brain.
It is also National Grilling Month...so get some hot dogs, burgers and buns and bring a few friends over...isn't it just nice to sit outside on a summer evening and enjoy a grilled meal?
July 2nd is I Forgot Day. As I get older, I think we need more days like this. Or maybe we do have more days like this, but nobody can remember when they happen!
Oh, what a good day to celebrate! July 3rd is Compliment Your Mirror Day. I think you could look at this two ways...either complement your mirror for being honest with you, or just look at the person in the mirror and complement them!
July 4th...Independence Day...have a barbecue, a picnic and go see the fireworks...yay yay yay USA!
July 4th-10th is National Freedom Week...a good time to think about how wonderful it is to live in the USA, and all the freedoms we have....it is truly a great country we live in!
Oh, isn't this funny. July 6th-12th is Be Nice To New Jersey Week. So no jokes about New Jersey this week...think about the nice beaches they have, or the fun casinos in Atlantic City...or maybe even call up a friend in New Jersey and be nice to them...nice matters!
July 7th is Father-Daughter Take A Walk Together Day...tell the men in your life to take their little girls for a Father-Daughter heart-to-heart walk...or if your dad isn't around, go for a walk and pretend your father is right there beside you...tell him all the things you never got to say, and how much you love him...I know he will be looking down from above with a smile.
And this is a strange day...July 10th is Clerihew Day. I had to put this one into Google...a clerihew is a funny biographical poem like this one about Daniel Defoe.
Daniel Defoe
Lived a long time ago.
He had nothing to do, so
He wrote Robinson Crusoe.
What do you think about this one for me?
Jeanne Bice
Thought what mattered was nice
And to express "nice" she chose
To make happy and fun clothes
Can you think of a clerihew for you?
July 13th is Gruntled Workers Day... a day where we can't be DIS-gruntled. Maybe even a good day to tell the boss you appreciate them or sit around the lunchtable and talk about the good parts of your job with your coworkers instead of gripe gripe gripe all the time.
July 19th is Toss Away The "Could Haves" and "Should Haves" Day...so look at those things you've always wanted to do and just do it.
July 20th is National Ice Cream Day...this used to be a must-have in my freezer, but I don't allow it anymore. Maybe I will just have a taste of something...to celebrate the day, of course.
July 20th-26th is National Make Someone Smile Week...you could visit with someone you haven't seen in a while, make that special dessert your family loves or write someone a nice note telling them how much you appreciate them. But I think the simplest, least expensive way of all to make someone smile is to smile yourself!
July 23rd is Gorgeous Grandma Day...go out and strut your stuff...wear your prettiest outfit and tell those men that we may have a few more curves than those young chicky chicky bins, but we know how to use them a lot better, too!
And all of us single working women have a good reason to celebrate at the end of the month...July 29th-August 4th is Single Working Women's Week...there are a lot of us out there, so let's celebrate all the hard work we do and the difference we make in this world.
We are going to be on QVC quite a bit this month...go check out the schedule and it will tell you when to look out for me...I am especially excited about July 23rd...I am going without sleep that day to be with you from 4-6am ET. I am going to have to have an extra Diet Coke to stay awake...but our Jo is going on vacation, so I am HER backup girl this time...don't you just love it.
I love you all very much!
Love,
Jeanne
