Hi Colleen,
I hope they don’t stop filling the WalMart orders up here. Jenny got her’s yesterday and there were a few things she could not get and they also substituted some stuff but so far it’s pretty good. We’ll see how our pickup goes today.
Well, it’s finally spring-I look forward to it each year-seeing the regrowth on the trees and things slowly starting to bloom. I will be looking at it all through fresh eyes this year. It really will be like a rebirth.
I can’t remember a lot about Easter when I was really little. I do remember getting like a chocolate bunny but don’t even remember if we got an Easter basket. I remember coloring eggs-being the youngest I probably did that the longest. Then my Dad would tape quarters to the eggs and hide them. We still do that to this day except now the quarters are dollars and the colored eggs are plastic. I remember my Mom would make egg salad from the eggs which I never really liked.
We would always get a new outfit only one of which I can distinctly remember, new shoes and a new hat-with that darn piece of elastic that went under the chin. An outfit I remember was a pink dress-it was sleeveless but it had another piece with long sleeves that you wore over the top of the dress if it was too cold for sleeveless-which it usually was at Easter. It had a pretty embroidered ribbon around the bottom of the overtop. (even back then I liked embellishments) When I wore it to church I must have had a cold and been sniffling a lot as the women in the pew in front of me very discreetly but pointedly layed some kleenex on the pew in front of me. I guess my sniffling was bothering her. Of course this made my brother and sister crack up. lol
I guess that woman was wishing for some “social distancing” from me.
Who knows if we will even be able see the kids for Easter in person this year. There might still be quarenteens going on.
What I miss most right now is Fridays at Jenny’s and going to restaurants.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108727I just need to take a moment here and give thanks and high praise to all the medical personnel who are out there in the front line trenches trying to save lives and keep us safe. Thank you all and I pray for you every day. You are the best!
in reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108725Hi Sue,
Thanks for saying that. I needed it. I worry about him too as he has underlying health problems.
I’m beginning to feel that schools will be closed past the end of their spring break.
All those young people partying in Florida just make me mad and sad at the same time. To realize that those young people have such a disregard for their fellow man. Just makes me shake my head.
There are a lot of press conferences. I know the president comes on late morning here and then the governor comes on right about at the end of GH.
We will just have to keep coming on here and trying to post stuff to lighten our moods.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108692Hi Adele,
I am not sure how that works if the guy in the place where Heather works tests positive. I hear that people still are having a hard time getting tested.
I’m glad that your stress test came out well. That’s always good to hear. And a big relief. I too would wait on the echo.
You know Brent is much like Bobby and doesn’t understand how serious this is.
He was supposed to go on vacation over spring break to San Antonio but had to cancel because everything is closed. So he called wanting to come here but we told him not to come as everything is closed and we are isolating ourselves-so what good would that do us if they came and went somewhere and then came back and spread germs to us. it’s really hard to tell your own kid not to come home. If he came here there would be absolutely nothing to do especially with a ten year old as he would bring his girlfriend and her son. I tried to explain to him this was serious but he just wanted to argue about it and I know he will never concede even if the other person was right(he really should have been a lawyer)lol Some people you just can’t convince.
So anyway-i feel guilty for telling him not to come even though Greg says I shouldn’t.
So I’m a bad mother.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108690Sue,
I get it. So dirt track is more like sprints or drag racing. Thanks-i wasn’t familiar with that term. Wonder if we will get al of GH today. it seems that’s when the Illinois governor comes on.in reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108688Hi Colleen,
I watched some of the Irish shows. I always enjoyed them-I like to listen to the Irish accents. it was sad that they had to do it all by Skype this year.
I didn’t buy anything. I think those key chains are cute-it seems like every year they add more.
I can buy new clothes or new jewelry but there’s no where to go to wear them. lol I could put on a fashion show for Greg. lol
Gailin reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108686Sue,
I heard that Mel Brooks and his son had some funny videos too. I haven’t seen any.
I did hear about Lyle Waggoner-I remember him from the skits on Carol Burnett.
How are things by you. I signed up for WalMart grocery pickup so we are doing that tomorrow-we’ll see if I’ll be able to get what i ordered.
They were out of paper towels and thus far we are good for toilet paper. So I am on the hunt for paper towels now.
I’m glad that you are in a building with just a couple of other tenants.
I can’t imagine being in a big high rise in a city.
Can’t believe the young folks are still partying on the beaches in the south.
They are going to end up going home and making other family members sick.
This is the regard that they have for the older generations. actual made me cry when i saw that.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108684Sue,
Ha ha-I guess now we get toilet paper instead of the brandy from the Saint Bernards.in reply to: Quacker Talk-March 2020 #108675I’ll see if this will post.
