    Hi DD,
I like your pictures of the tropics. I always wanted to go to one of those places where they have the huts over the water. I doubt that I ever will, but a girl can dream. I have been having trouble getting chicken-even the frozen breasts. I have an order in for pickup at WalMart tomorrow so we’ll see what things i actually get. I never thought i would actually miss going to the grocery store but neither Greg or i plan to go for a long time. The only bad thing about the order for pickup is if you are there yourself and they don’t have something you can make an adjustment on the fly but when someone else is doing it for you that can’t happen. so sometimes I have planned to make something but if i can’t get the ingredients that messes up my plans for the week’s meals. We have learned two things through this to make adjustments because you have to and we , I think, are less wasteful and try to use up all leftovers in some manner-so I guess they are good lessons to be had. i always try to find a silver lining if I can-it keeps me sane.
Just over the border in Wisconsin cases are rising two weeks after the state supreme court overturned their stay at home order and things just opened back up with no precautions in place-i said it was like the wild wild west there-and we are between Chicago and Wisconsin-so we just continue to stay home and keep our heads down.
The weather has been warm but it is going to cool down a bit this weekend but the sun is shining!

    Hi Barbara,
I am glad to hear that things are seeming better for Joey and Lisa. Can’t believe that neither DIL had ever helped with the dishes before. Kim always helped me and Jenny too. And all the DIL’s and daughter helped at Greg’s Mom’s house and she never had a dish washer in her old house where many holiday’s took place. Everything was done by hand. We always used to suggest paper plates but she would have none of that. lol
That’s funny about Dodger and the corn-especially because that is most likely field corn and not even sweet corn. Dodger must have a tough stomach. I love that you have a bloodhound and a blue tick coonhound-it just seems so southern! lol I guess they are your “hounddogs” in honor of Elvis. lol Greg would love to have a coonhound but I don’t want a dog that large anymore plus I know they shed a lot even with the short hair and since our dogs are always indoor dogs I don’t want all those little sticky pieces of fur around. We had a dalmation years ago and I loved that dog he was so good and so smart but I swear he never shed the black hairs-just the white ones. Speaking of Elvis-I see Graceland has reopened. I always say it’s one of those places everyone should see once if they are in the area. It’s amazing the sheer number of people that go through that place in a year so many years after his death-that’s a phenomena in itself. I went on the website and looked at the new hotel there. It looks pretty nice but if I remember correctly( and it was probably close to 20 years ago that we were there) the neighborhood around there didn’t look like the best. Maybe things have changed now. If I were to go back again I would like to stay at the hotel with the ducks-is it The Peabody? I love places that have stories like that. I don’t think there will be any traveling this year though. I hear that RV rentals and sales are way up. People want to travel in their own self contained little spaces.

    HI Adele,
I’m sorry to hear about Steph’s friend’s mother. I will say a prayer. You wonder if it had not been for Covid if they would have sent her for a stress test. I was just thinking this because when I went in with chest pains several years ago even though the EKG showed i was okay they sent me for s stress test to be on the safe side.
It was a weird holiday as it felt like any other day. We have a town about a half hour from here in Wisconsin which is kind of a tourist town and is on a lake. Well it was on the news this weekend as one of the places where there were huge crowds and no masks or social distancing. Saw a guy saying yah-as soon as we heard that Wisconsin was open we came from Chicago to here. So now they are going to be dragging this disease back and forth across state lines from places like Chicago that has a lot to Wisconsin that doesn’t have as much. And we are stuck right between both places. Wisconsin is like the wild wild west though-once they opened there were no rules.
Of curse our fearless leader wants to have a big convention in July with people packed shoulder to shoulder. Some people just don’t use the good sense that God gave them. No wonder the whole country is at odds about opening back up. We have no leadership. I just read this morning that some people think Covid 19 is a conspiracy to make us all wear masks. For what purpose they don’t say. Some times I just shake my head in wonder.
Greg just told me that he got an email saying the place where we get our best in the world sweet corn is closing down. I know it’s not a lot in the big scheme of things but I am heart broken. I was so looking forward to the veggies from our garden along with their sweet corn this summer. That was going to be one of the high lights of our summer since there’s so little else that we can do.
Greg says he got an email from the guy he usually plays with that golf leagues are starting but he doesn’t want to go. He doesn’t know what sort of safety rules will be in place. Golf would probably be one of the safest things that you can do but I told him if he didn’t feel comfortable he shouldn’t do it.
The thing that’s so scary is that anybody could be carrying it and you would never know. It’s like now everyone has cooties and we want to stay away from them.
Thanks for the info on the Cape-it sounds like a tourist town much like lake Geneva Wisconsin in our area.
The place where we go to see concerts in the summer is opening. Temperature checks on the way in about half the capacity for social distancing wearing masks etc. They are being very careful but i still don’t think we will go as half the fun is going out to dinner before hand and mingling with the the other attendees and striking up conversations. However, they are going to offer some of the concerts online so we may buy tickets to watch at home if we can figure out how to do it. Right now we just feel safest at home.
Did you hear that Bless This Mess and Single Parents have been cancelled. I was sad to hear that-especially since Single Parents ended with kind of a cliff hanger.
We just found out this couple that we were good friends with but have kind of lost touch with about ten years ago got a divorce after 47 years of marriage. He fell in love with a much younger woman. That has just blown my mind-I can hardly believe it. My mind is still reeling from the news. She wished Greg a good memorial Day on Facebook yesterday and he said he hoped she and her husband were well and then she proceeded to tell him about the divorce. Yikes! She must have been devastated.
On a happier note. The sun is out, the birds are singing and the frogs are croaking in the pond. There are tons of tadpoles right now so the frogs and toads have been busy. lol It’s a good day to be alive.

    Hi Colleen,
I’m so glad you got to see the kids. I don’t know when that will happen for us.
I didn’t realize that you were new to Storage Wars-I guess I just figured since you watched the pickers that you had also seen Storage Wars. There’s quite a few of them so they should keep you busy for awhile. I think Brent introduced us to the Pickers, Storage Wars and Pawn Stars. I imagine the American Pickers had to stop filming during the shut down so it might be awhile until there are new shows.
AGT starts tonight and World of Dance too. I have no idea what they will do as they get later in the season as they probably started before a stay at home was in place. We’ll watch and see.
I actually liked Latin and got good grades in it. We had a Latin Club and had a toga party every year (not like Animal House lol) where the first year Latin students had to wait on the second year students and we all dressed like ancient Romans. It was fun-my brother and sister took Latin too.
Did you want to change from Catholic to public school or did you have to because of a move or something? Was the Catholic school all girls? Greg went to an all boys Catholic high school. We only had one Catholic high school within the county and it was several towns over from where we lived. I had a scholarship to go there but I didn’t want to. They had just opened a new public high school in our town and I wanted to go there which I did.
Only a few kids from our eighth grade class went to the Catholic High School.

    Hi DD,
You don’t have to apologize. Any of us could have done that-even though no one knows how it was done. lol
Thank you for the Memorial Day pictures. I couldn’t find the ones that I had saved to post as I have all the Covid memes in my photos and sometimes stuff just gets lost.

    HI Colleen,
I’m glad you saw what happened to the site too. It was very weird looking. lol
So you did a binge watch day of Storage Wars. I think a lot of people are binge watching now. Brent originally turned us on to that show. It is an interesting cast of characters that’s for sure. There haven’t been any new ones for awhile though so I guess maybe they are not filming anymore. We always liked Barry-he was an interesting fellow. It seemed like he must have had some money to begin with. I should look him up and learn more about him. And of course Dave is sort of the villain with his Yuuuuuup! Greg and I always thought Ivy had a secret crush on Mary. lol I guess we just made up stories in our own heads to go along with the program. lol
Thank goodness for TV and movies during this lockdown.
Grayson sounds so cute. So who is moving? Mandy and the girls? I know I am nosy-I said the same thing to Adele. lol I also asked her about the shots and visits for the babies but I guess she forgot that I asked. I was wondering about the doctor’s visits for the babies as it seems like you take them in a lot the first few months. So they have delayed them it sounds like. It’s so weird I never remember a time when you couldn’t go to the doctor. I was saying you definitely want to try and stay healthy right now because you don’t want to have to go in a doctor’s office.
I have these patches that I sometimes get on my legs that I go to the dermatologist for and I had a flare up of them this past winter and would like to go to the derm and get some cream because they really itch sometimes but I have just sort of had to live with it the last couple months. fortunately they will go away on their own but it takes a long time. It’s called granuloma annulare. Fancy sounding name for an annoying problem. I’m surprised I can remember the name but it’s so weird it’s hard to forget. Good thing I took Latin in High School as it sounds like a Latin name. Anyone else take Latin? More likely those that went to Catholic school. I’m just rambling now. That’s what happens when you are shut up with your husband for 2 and a half months. lol
I did talk to Piper on the phone yesterday when Jenny called to tell us there was a tornado warning. I don’t need an alert on my phone or to watch the news I have Jenny. It was for our county but it was actually south of where we live but they include the whole county in the warning. There were warnings all around us yesterday. I had been up really early in the morning so I wanted to nap but all the warnings put an end to that.
We will be getting rain on and off the next several days. But it’s supposed to be in the 80’s-I’ll believe it when I see it.
I hope you get the air working soon-you will need it. I suppose the part could be delayed because of the long weekend-or because or covid19 too. I hope it gets here soon as you will need it.
We will be barbecuing something. I’ve not quite decided what it will be yet.

    Hey DD,
That was weird looking -but I don’t think anyone saw it but you and me and it’s hard to explain what it looked like.
Here’s the weird thing about that explanation-you can’t copy and paste on here. Believe me I’ve tried so how you did it is a mystery. You must be magic.
    lol

    Hi Adele,
That does make sense for Marissa to get the schooling over with now. Thank goodness that they can afford to do it that way. I’ll bet you’re proud of her for wanting to go into nursing. Especially after seeing what they are going through now. And also a little frightened for her. Actually in the hospital nurses are the lifeblood-usually the doctors dash in and out and the nurses are the ones who provide all the care.
When I was in high school my Mom had uterine cancer. She went through xray and radiation treatments and then had a hysterectomy. Thank goodness she was a success story. But she once said that she didn’t think the doctor who took care of her would ever even recognize her if she was walking down the street unless her dress blew up. lol I always remembered that. I guess she felt he didn’t see her as a person only as a body part. However, he did do a great job even though he didn’t have much of a bedside manner as she lived many years after that.
I hope Tillie will be feeling better soon. Do you think she is overwhelmed by everything that is going on?
I’m glad that Amanda and Heather will be moving back together. Amanda should have put some of that poison ivy in the exes bed. lol
I’m trying to send something over to Jenny’s house every couple of weeks to help keep the kids occupied.
Last week I sent these stickers that you make with the little beads and then you can stick them on things. Next week they have books where instead of paint by number you sticker by number. I thought it would be less messy than paints. And then I bought from Etsy a yard Yahtzee game with giant dice. That might take awhile to get there as it is hand made and he emailed me and said that they were slow to get some of their material due to covid 19. But it will get there eventually. The whole family can get outdoors and play that one.
So I’m always on the lookout for cute things that the kids can do.
It’s kind of cloudy today. I think we are supposed to have showers off and on all weekend but it will be warm so I can get the Quacker patriotic tees out.

    Hi DD,
Wow that was so bizarre! I came on and all the posts looked different and all the pictures were gone and then I came back a few hours later and everything was back to normal. As Jenniefer Kirk used to say-the pixies must have been busy. lol I wish someone else would have seen what we are talking about. Now they will think we imagined it. lol
People have been so impatient during this whole thing and so worried about their individual rights. Sometimes we just have to dig in and do things for the greater good. Although I am tired of being told that we are all in this together. I know it already and they are just preaching to the choir in my case.
I had an appointment for a teeth cleaning and the dentists are just opening up. It was for this coming Tuesday. I struggled with if I should go right away when things will probably more stringent and everyone has been home for two months or should I put it off with a wait and see attitude. I rescheduled to August. I want to see how things go. I am normally on a three month schedule so this will still only put me at five months-and normally people go every six months so I should be okay.
Greg was going to golf this morning but then found out there was two other guys and it is only supposed to be twosomes so he bowed out. I think he is still a little afraid to go out too. And he didn’t want to break the rules although I’ll bet there have been threesomes and foursomes. Who’s going to really stop them. But it’s hard now to think about going out amongst other people when it has just been the two of us for two and a half months. It makes me wonder when we will ever feel safe again. Right now home is safe.
It sounds like you are prepared for summer. I have gotten some food from the Q to stock the freezer also.
I think the reason the Pres doesn’t want mail in voting is because he wants to make it so the voters have to come in and he thinks that way there will be less votes which he feels will be a win for him. I think he will get more and more desperate as time goes by. He would love to have a vaccine tomorrow and that way he could be declared a hero. He is the weakest president I have ever seen. Even though I didn’t want him when he first got elected I figured well we got him I may as well give him a chance. But watching what has happened during his tenure has been disgraceful. And the last straw has been the pandemic. If ever we needed strong leadership it was now and he has failed miserably. Oh well enough of this.
I agree with you. We can worship God anywhere. And until this pandemic isn’t a threat people will be safer worshiping from home. I know they miss the fellowship of the church but why take a chance with people’s lives? Would God really want you to do that?
It will be a quiet weekend but at least we are all alive and well and have a roof over our heads. We have many things to be grateful for. I think we are all in mourning for the way things used to be. Change is hard-but we are up to the task.
    Gail
