Here’s a picture. Maybe you will remember seeing her on TV or in a movie.

    Adele,
Fanny Flagg is an author-I think she was also an actress at one time. She’s probably most famous for the book Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe which was turned into the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Very heartwarming stories that make you feel good-sometimes a little sad too-kind of like a Hallmark movie.

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED DWTS YET!!!!!!

So glad Sean Spicer finally went home. I actually think he was kind of relieved too as I think even he was getting kind of embarrassed by continuing to be on knowing everyone was so much better at this point. I also think the judges gave him extra low points last night and gave everyone else really high scores-maybe all on purpose. I was also glad that Gleb got a decent partner this year even though I don’t think Lauren will make it to the finals.

    Hi Adele,
Hopefully Heather will improve to a full recovery. Also even though she has the similar curve in the back to yours maybe hers will never cause her problems. Everyone is different and has different experiences with the same issues. maybe because she knows ahead of time she can take some preventative measures too. I will keep praying for her and for you and that shoulder.
Don’t worry about the pies. It’s not about the food it’s about the family. As long as you can get together it doesn’t really matter what’s on the table. I know it’s hard for you because feeding people means love to you-but I’ve learned to let certain things go and found it doesn’t make the celebration any less joyous-in fact it gives me more time to just enjoy the company. Baby steps!
As far as the Thanksgiving feast Jenny has it at her house-so I just bring a few things over-usually a seven layer salad, some kind of gelatin salad and some kind of vegetable. Jenny makes the turkey, stuffing, rolls, cheesy potatoes. No one but Greg and I will eat sweet potatoes so I do miss them. sometimes I just make them at home for us when I get the taste for them. I can’t believe I have kids and grandkids that don’t eat sweet potatoes. It’s like nature’s candy.
The compressors sound like a good idea.
I haven’t found any gifts from the Q this year. Oh I take that back I ordered some Philosophy and some stuff from those goat guys. I can’t believe that they stopped showing decorations in September and have had little or no toy shows. Their programming this holiday season sucks! I always look at the new arrivals every morning and did you know they have gotten in a lot of things like maternity clothes and baby stuff. Of course they have thousands of things that they never show on air-they should show some of this new stuff and stop showing the same stuff over and over. I can’t believe they even stopped showing Christmas trees about a month ago and even their set decor does not look as extensive as it used to. Just a few trees plopped here and there. I’m afraid that they are going down the tubes. Too bad. Quacker has had very little new this season. I suppose they are saving it for the show tomorrow but how much new can they show in one day. They used to have tons of new for Christmas. Things are changing at the Q.
I hope Tillie got on the chair lift last night.
I trust Brent’s GP-as to the specialists I really don’t know anything about them. Brent likes the GP too so that is good.
You have a knee shot Wednesday I have a yearly rheumatology check up. it’s supposed to snow so I hope it starts after I am back home. Then I have a hair appointment Thursday morning so I hope it has stopped snowing by then. I can’t believe this worry about getting to places in snow has started already. This seems like it may be a long winter. It’s very cold today. Too early for these kind of temps.

    Hi Colleen,
So I know Melissa is coming for Thanksgiving-will Mandy and the girls and Danyielle and her family be able to come also. If so you will really have a houseful. I know Danyielle sometimes has to go to her SO’s family so I was not sure about them. I think Owen and Kendall are the same age and Lachlan and Kaylee too-aren’t they getting big? Is Ethan in high school yet-if not he must be getting close.
Maybe Jenny will finally introduce us to Ricky at Thanksgiving. It’s actually getting kind of silly now that we have not met him yet. Awkward much! lol
You know I have made onion soup in the crock pot before but it’s been awhile. Then I just toasted some bread and put it on top with cheese. It was pretty good. I will have to see if I can dig that recipe up again sometime.

    HI Adele,
Thanks for the insurance info. I have no idea what programs new Mexico has in place. I will see if he will look into them. I have no idea what diagnosis the doctor is leaning towards. It’s the messed up liver functions that worry me. He is being scoped on Thursday-don’t know if results will be immediate. I’ve been trying to stay off the internet and not look up possibilities but it’s hard.
I’m glad Heather got the neurologist appointment moved up. I hope there’s good news. It sounds like she’s making progress.
Now if only we could get your shoulder fixed. How have you been feeling after the colitis attack?
Your soup looks good. I love soup in winter-and winter has hit us even though it’s officially still fall until Dec 21. We have another six inches of snow and tomorrow wind chills will be below zero. it’s funny I can remember some Thanksgivings where we were all running around outside in our shirt sleeves. At this rate we will be building snow turkeys in the yard. lol
I hope Tillie’s foot feels better soon. I suppose she’s afraid that the stair lift will break and drop her or something. Hopefully she will get past that and use it willingly soon.
It feels silly with my fall decorations up with pumpkins and pretty leaves and there is snow on the ground. It feels more like Christmas.
Yes, this year Christmas on the Q is boring. there was more interesting stuff on their Christmas in July shows. I do have to buy some of those Kringle Express gift bags though. I love them. Easy as pie!

    HI Colleen,
It will be hard this year without your Mom but you will have lots of people around so that will be a good thing. It’s funny you mentioned about missing exchanging books with your Mom. I think that’s the one thing I missed the most the first year after my Mom died was not being able to pick up the phone and tell her about a new book that I was excited about. Now it’s been a long time since both parents are gone so rather than missing and hurting I just think about happy memories. You know this may sound weird but I think when you have not lived close to your parents for a long time it’s a little easier on you when they pass away. I think because I didn’t see my folks that often once I was an adult when they passed away it was more like it was between visits or something if that makes any sense. It’s like maybe the more you get to see them the closer you are-and when you live farther apart you have to disconnect a little bit. It’s not that you love them less-it’s just that you’re used to not being with them as much. You’ve already learned how to miss them. I don’t know if you understand what I’m trying to say or it makes any sense at all. I’m just crazy.
Sounds like you were able to have a nice day with Brook and spend some good time together. It’s hard when they get older and busier.
It’s funny that the baby doesn’t want to turn the right way to get a good picture. Maybe he is camera shy. It’s amazing the 3D images that they can now get. They weren’t even doing ultrasounds when I was pregnant. I think they just started up a little after that.

    Hi DD,
I can’t wait to hear about the adventures of Snowball and the Christmas tree. It seems lots of cats like to drink from faucets and toilets-maybe the water is colder. I’m glad she didn’t fall in the toilet as you know being wet would have made her very unhappy.
We have snow again here today. Probably another six inches. It’s more like January than November as winter doesn’t even officially start until later in December. I hope this is not a hint of what winter will be like-I may never get out of the house again until May! lol I was supposed to get bloodwork today but it will just have to wait as I’m not going out in the snow. I haven’t even seen a plow yet and I know our driveway isn’t plowed as Greg had to leave early this morning for a breakfast meeting with someone who flew in from Washington state. I’ll bet he’s glad to be here. lol Good thing he did put the plow on the truck yesterday though. We already are going to have windchills in the minus degrees tomorrow.

    Hi Barbara,
I know a lot of people use audio books but I just have never gotten into them as I think my mind would wander as I am listening. I need to hold that book or kindle to ground myself into the experience. However, I do think it would be nice in the car. I remember years ago I used to read to Greg when we were driving places. Of course now with Sirius radio in the car you can have stuff from sports to comedy.
I agree I liked the Q better when there was not so much pressure to buy buy buy. It seems like years ago it was more conversational and actually entertaining and now it’s more hard sell. I don’t get Shawn with the glasses on her nose either. I guess maybe it’s supposed to be a fashion statement-why I don’t know. Wait til she gets old enough to actually need the readers-then she probably won’t want them.
