Hi DD,
I really like the pictures that you posted. They are always so bright and happy they make me smile. I bought a scare crow that looks like the one in the picture to hang on my door for the fall. I really like that. Now I have to find a new Christmas one.
I remember tp houses and soaping windows. We never used wax or threw eggs our parents would have made us go over and clean it up. My mom would get upset if we took soap out of the house. We usually got it out without her knowing. I miss those days when you did not have to worry about people damaging your property.
I have seen that commercials with Tom. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen this year. Remember when Donnie Whalberg’s wife got shot and they did not get the bullet out? I am wondering if they are ever going to finish that story line. I wonder if she was wanting off the show and this will be her way off. It was weird that they went that far with it and never talked about it again.
How nice that her memorial went so well. She had a lot of friends. it is hard to lose a friend even one that you may not have seen as often as others. Those scooters are nice. My bil has one. He gets around so much better on it and he does not have to worry about losing his breath. You should qualify for one and Medicare should pay for it. If my information is right. I have never checked on one before.
Well that is about all from here. Thank you for posting all the pictures on here and making us smile.
ColleenHi Adele,
I do not blame you for not telling the others what was said. It is better to keep it between the two of you. Sounds like she may be over it though if she is going to try and stop by for dinner. Your kids love you too much to stay mad at you for very long. You are so good to them. I hope that all of you have a good dinner out. The restaurant sounds really nice. They would not want to miss the holidays at your house. You have too many good things to eat and all the sweets. They could not go anywhere else and get that stuff.
I did not come from a military family. My dad served in wwii but that was it. When the war was over he came home and went back to work. He was a lawyer for truck lines. He had to finish his schooling when he came back and that took him a little while. By the time I was old enough to remember he was done had an office in our house and my mom was his secretary. It must have been hard on you being in a military family. Did you move a lot? So far my daughter Melissa and her husband have not moved anywhere. They have been here since he went into the service. He will have to stay here for another year I think after he gets back from over seas.
What did you think about the person that got voted off DWTS? He really needed more time to learn but I guess they voted him off anyway. It would be nice if they had more time then two weeks before they get voted off the show. They hardly have time to learn the dance steps and how to hold themselves. I guess that would take too much time though. They do have a lot of good dancers on there. The one who I think will go next is Rick Perry. I may be wrong but that is what I think. They have some good dancers again this time around. It will be hard to pick a winner.
I have been feeling about the same. I go back to the doctor on the 29th. I just figure that I will be like this from now on so I might as well get use to it.lol Life goes on.
If you got something new from Temptations you have to use it. That sounds really nice. Your bread sounds really good. We are going to have to find our way to your house to eat your bread and all the sweets that you make. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
ColleenHi Gail,
We are never happy about the weather. The squirrels are not getting very fat so we are supposed to have a mild winter. lol I do not know who comes up with all this stuff but we will see if it is true. It is probably just an old wives tale. Maybe the squirrel could not find any food to fatten up on.
I did have a hope chest. I had my pots and pans and good dishes before I ever had plans of getting married. I had three sisters so it all started with my oldest sister and we had to do what she did. She still is my favorite sister. We do not get to see each other as much anymore but we still talk. The sales people would come to your house and show you these things and you could order them from them and they delivered them to your house. I still have my hope chest. That thing is really old. My mom and dad gave it to me for Christmas one year. I guess that all of us girls got one. It was kind of interesting.
I have found a new golf shoe that you will have to have Greg look at. It is a pair of flip flops. You go to the web site zoriz.com. My chiropractor invented them. They have the same bottom as a golf shoe but they are a flip flop. So that way your feet will not get as hot and they can get some sun. I am thinking of getting my brother a pair. We never know what to get him for Christmas and I know that does not have a pair of these. lol They are different but they may work really good. I am not a golfer so do not know if they would be good or not.
For something like getting to your grand kids and the soldiers overseas getting to see their children skype is really good. I would not want it the way they use to talk about it that people could see you when you answered the phone. That is going too far. If I was in my pjs I would never answer the phone for fear they would have that on. Either that or we would have to be covered in blankets or have a robe handy everytime the phone rings.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
ColleenHi Sue,
We live in the country so they had to drive to our house to throw the bread out. They also went all around the house and was looking at the sheds that we have where Ron keeps his tools and things. It was way too much bread to just be doing it to be nice. If we lived in town we would not think anything about it but out where we live it is a little strange.
ColleenHi DD,
I think that Adele’s recipe for potatoes in the meat loaf is really catching on. We tried it also and it really tasted good. That was nice that Kay came and had dinner with you. I bet she really enjoyed it also.
I keep my flour in the freezer. That way you do not get weavels in it either. We use to get weavels really bad here but we washed all of our cabinets out with bleach and it took care of them. We still keep the flour in the freezer. It does not freeze so you do not have to worry about that. I do not know if you can keep anything else in there or not. It seems like the baking powder and corn starch would be the same.
I hope that the yoga classes will help you. I have never tried to do that before. You will have to let us know if it helps your back. It may be something to try.
It is hard to control the bugs when you live in an apartment. Some one may have brought them with them when they moved in. That happens. Hopefully they will spray and get rid of them for good.
At least you did not have to be out of your apartment for very long. It was nice that they had muffins and coffee for all of you so you had something to eat and drink while waiting. It is really nice for people that eat a late breakfast. They probably really appreciated it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
ColleenHi Gail,
We are getting warmer here. It is supposed to cool down by the end of the week. I hope that they are right. This hot weather is getting to everyone I think.
We had the strangest thing happen here the other day. Ron was gone and I was here but doing something. Somebody came in our yard and threw pieces of bread all over the yard. It was all over the front and then they threw it all the way out to the sheds. We are wondering if they were casing the place and were trying to keep Austin away from them. We use to have an old man that walked our road and he would check places out and if he found something that he thought was worth money he would leave his walking stick and they would come back later and take it. Well everyone got on to that one and if he left the stick we would throw it away. So now we are wondering if that was the purpose of the bread. If it was it did them no good because we picked it all up and threw it in the trash. We are just being careful now and watching out for people coming around.
I am ready for cool weather. I am tried of my summer things and ready for the fall and winter things. I have started putting out the fall things and Halloween things. Hoping that if I put them out fall will actually come. This is the last day of summer so it is time for it to go. I guess that is not how it works.
The nuns that we had in school were the St. Joseph nuns and we also had Notre Dame nuns but they were at the all girl schools and not at the schools that we went to. It is odd that we had two different orders in our area up there but I guess it was big enough they needed them. It was a shame that they stopped wearing the habits. It never seemed the same after that. I can understand why they did that because those things were hot but it is a shame they could not find cooler material.
I have gold trim on my good dishes and do not wash them in the dish washer. I just cannot see ruining them. I bought them when I was in high school in my senior year. I was working part time so could afford to pay for them. So they are old. lol I hate to think of how old they are.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
ColleenHi Adele. I forgot to tell you I like your decorations that you have outside. They are really cute.
ColleenHi Barbara,
You have the right idea. Stand back everyone I am taking the baby. I hope that Neal will get a job close to home. At least close enough that they can come and visit and you can go and see them. That will be a great opportunity for him. That is interesting that Joey decided to go to Alaska. That should be interesting living there. That is supposed to be a beautiful place.
I am sorry to hear about Jerry’s mom. I hope that you find a place close to home so you can visit her three or four times a week. There should be something. They should have a place that will take her even though she cannot remember things. She remembers enough to function just not enough to live alone. She will have fun with the ladies in a new place. They usually play bingo and do crafts. So she will fit right in. Just do not give up you will find something.
That is one bad thing about male dogs they will hike their legs on everything they see. We have a male dog and he would do the same thing. They have to mark their territory.
The cook out sounds like it was a big hit. The steaks and the twice baked potatoes. That was nice that you did not have to do too much just sit and hold the baby. That is our job when we have a baby in the house. We spoil them and then we send them home to be with their parents. I hope that you have a good time watching Colin Sunday. We are watching Aliza Saturday. Cannot wait to see her. I got to see her for a little while today and we went to the dollar tree and I bought her a ball and a teddy bear. She was happy to get both of them. She saw this muli color ball and she would not let go of it and then she saw the bear and she would not let go of it either. So she got both of them. Just wait until you go to the store with Colin and he wants something it is hard to tell a grand child no. lol
Did you agree with who they sent home Tuesday night on dwts? I thought that they sent the right person home because he was not a good dancers he got too nervous and got ahead of his partner a lot of the time. They do not have enough time to learn very much when they vote someone off after only two weeks. I think that they need more time. I guess they just do not have the time. It will be interesting to see who goes home next week.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night. You are such a good mom and will be an even better grandma.
ColleenHi Adele,
Your popovers sound really good. That is a nice easy meal and with no meat. We do have meatless meals here sometimes also. It is good that you can use your Temptations to cook with. If it is easy to use and easy clean up I am all for it.
Some times you have to stick to your guns with the kids. If you don’t they will walk all over you. You may want to get everyone talking by Halloween so you know that they will all be there for Thanks giving. We have our little arguments and someone will get mad and not talk to the rest of us. Girls are just like that. It is something in their brains that does not work right.lol It has to be that or they would agree with everything we say. You do not get into with Amanda that often do you? I know that Steph gets mad really easy but this is the first time that I remember you and Amanda being mad at each other. Kids do take after us even though it has to be mostly the dads as we are so sweet and nice all the time.lol If my kids were reading this they would be rolling on the floor laughing.
Skype is really good for the kids. Now that Stephan is over seas Kaylee and Ethan can still see their dad. Kaylee is so young she really needs to see his face and be able to talk to him. She got to tell him about her first day of school. She was excited to tell him. She is really close to her daddy. Ethan is at the age where he acts like it does not matter. You can tell that he does though. I really got off the subject sorry about that.
That is good to have the smaller trees. We may all have to go to smaller trees one day. My two daughters help put my Christmas tree up on Thanks giving. They do that every year. My youngest is really good at spreading the branches out. It would be bad if she stopped doing that. Ron will put it up but will not help with spreading the branches. Does Gary usually help you with the tree? We have two trees also. We put one in the living room and one in the sun room. The one in the sun room is the Santa tree.
How is JJ doing now that he had the tooth pulled? Hope he did not have any trouble with his gums after they pulled the tooth. It is good that they pulled it for him.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
