      Hi Everyone,
It’s May Day and Jenny’s birthday. For her birthday she gets to go on a field trip with Piper’s kindergarten class. I remember those days well except now they go on more fun field trips. Lachlan and Kendall also have field trips today. Lachlan is seeing a production of Charley Brown and Kendall is going into to Chicago to the museum of Science and Industry which I hope she loves as I did and do love that place. Piper and Kendall both have had their artwork chosen to be put up in our town library. So maybe some of Jenny’s kids have inherited some of Greg’s ability to draw and paint.
The best field trip I went on with the kids was when they were in honors English in high school and their classes went to Medieval Times. That was actually pretty fun and the kids were older so you didn’t have to worry about one getting lost. I remember when they were like first grade they went to the Milwaukee zoo and it was hard to keep track of everyone. It was fun and I’m glad that I got to go but also glad I don’t have that responsibility anymore. lol
DD, I copied the Kirk’s Folly shows but haven’t watched yet. I like the funny sayings that you posted.
Colleen, that is nice that you are spending quality time with your brother and sisters. I’ll bet your Mom would be thrilled to know that you are enjoying your time together. I’ve seen many families ripped apart after a parent’s death arguing over who wants what. it’s just not worth it. I would rather give everything away than cause strife like that.
Adele, I don’t blame you for being furious. I would be in the same boat as I am considered obese. It’s such an unflattering assessment. As if I am a name and not a person. I can’t believe your doctor had no idea that this was the policy of the hospital. They don’t really understand your issues as when you have limited mobility you would have to starve yourself to lose ten pounds let alone thirty five. I like the way they say that like it’s as easy as pie to do something like that. If that was the case people wouldn’t be spending millions on weight loss systems every year. The whole thing drives me nuts.
I hope you will be able to live with the pain of the shoulder with out it being too debilitating. Maybe in the future you will be able to find a place that will do the surgery. I wonder what would happen in that hospital if a person came in and they needed an emergency surgery of some sort. Would they turn them away? I just want to give you a great big old hug!

      Hey DD!
I was wondering the same thing. The doctor’s office has called me daily. Yesterday i asked if the other hospital they s use has the same policy, and they do too. So, no is the answer for now. I asked if the tear in the rotator cuff will heal itself, and they said no. To prevent it from getting worse, they said no heavy lifting at all. I can still do my shoulder exercises to keep it moving, and keep the muscles strong.
So, I am dealing today. Also very sore, as it is raining again. It is what it is. I have resigned myself to realizing I will not be able to sleep through the night, and be glad I have the new bed that helps with the pain. Today I am counting the good things, and trying to move forward.
Our teams are all still in the running too- Celtics and Bruins. GAry has been getting the scores while we watch TV.
I hope your weather is good, and the sun is shining.
How is your arm feeling? Better, I hope. Please take care of yourself, so your arm can heal. I know it is hard, especially when you live alone.

      Hey Gailster!
Funny you should say that, as in a very dark moment yesterday, I wondered if I banged the shoulder against the wall, and needed ER services, the surgery would then be done…..LOL How is that, for a VERY DARK moment?? Oh yes, I did have a couple fo dark moments between me and the shoulder.
I am better today. I had my 24 hour Pity Party. Done now. I am on to plans for living with the shoulder.
The hard part is everyone in the family, and friends really think I will lose the 35 lbs, and get the surgery. That wasn’t my plan, as I feel it is a goal I just can’t reach. I am trying to be even more careful about what I eat, with the intent that maybe, if God shines a light on me, it will gradually disappear. So, I am hearing solutions to weight loss from everyone, and it is getting old…..LOL I have been quietly answering them….weight loss surgery….the keto diet ( heart attack diet), liposuction….etc. I am nto so desperate to have the shoulder done as to risk my life for weight loss surgeries.
I wished jenny Happy Birthday. I bet she will have some funny stories when she gets back.
i am going to look at the Kirks follies to see if any retail therapy pops off the page…..
Hope your day is going well!

I can understand the Hospital’s policy as there is a much greater risk with an obese person as most of us are. I would not be surprised if it were the Hospital”s insurance carrier that require that rule because if anything happened they could get sued & it is just too big a risk. I would think 35lbs would be doable to get rid of the pain. Doable but not easy but you would need to give up carbs like Greg did. And walk as much as possible use a walker to support you but you have to move. I had to walk every hour after knee surgery & it hurt a lot at first but it was necessary so you grit your teeth & do it. My doctor is all over me about my weight every visit. I had a baked pork chop & broccoli last night and if I eat like that I can lose weight but I get hungry for pasta, potatoes & things like that so then I fail.
I was back to have them check out how my hearing aid was doing & if I needed any adjustments. It seems to be working well for me so far. I hear things I simply could not before. He told me batteries usually last a week & it has been a week & I haven’t needed to change it yet. The batteries are not expensive about $4 a month but you must be careful & check the date so you get fresh ones. He did tell me 2 places that have old batteries. I did check prices & they are what he said but won’t need to buy for a while as I got 2 months worth with the hearing aid. I think mine may be a bit more advanced thus costing more. But I have 4 settings I can choose from & two of them are to filter out the background noise. I use one of those outside to reduce traffic noise. So I notice a big improvement in my hearing. I ask some more questions today & did not feel anything needed changed yet. But they keep on top & will change if necessary. I go back in 2 weeks for another check. He made it the same morning I see the orthopedic doctor for a check on my knee. That is nice then I won’t need to make 2 trips.

We are stuck in the rain still. The weatherman said Nov was the wettest Nov on record & every month since has had above average percipation & it looks to be a wet summer seems like a repeat of last year. And I was hoping for fresh veggies & fruits. And its been cold to we had a heavy frost Monday morning so furnace still on.

      Hey Sue!
thank you for the encouraging words. I am dealing today….LOL i am one who needs very low carbs to lose weight. the only diet that ever worked for me is Atkins, and that one can kill your heart….LOL
We are having the same weather. It is so gloomy here again today, and that makes the shoulder stiff.
I am so glad you like your hearing aides! That is great news. I bet you will be thrilled with hearing conversations and TV, way better than before. It seems so many people end up with hearing aides as we age. I keep saying aging is nto for the faint of heart.
Did you see Bless this Mess last night? OMG…I was howling! I saved it and watched it with Heather today. I got her hooked on the show.
The only good thing about not having the shoulder done, is I will be able to plant my herbal garden as soon as it gets nicer out there. I hope it gets better next week, before Mothers Day. I usually plant them on Mothers Day. The lilacs are nto even out yet.
As soon as that new tree I planted has its flowers, I will take a pic and post it. I can see pinkish red buds, but, they need the sun to come out.
hope you have a good night. GAry is off at a meeting, so I am having Panera Soup for supper, with peanut butter crackers, and fruit.

      Hi Adele,
Sounds like I left you with the wrong impression. I hurt my elbow several yrs ago, not recently. It happened in the fall of 2010. Sorry if I misspoke. It does bother me when the weather turns really cold.

Not much to talk about tonight. It’s gold jewelry all day Thurs. Antonella will be going crazy as she loves gold jewelry. Oh that was windchimes, not a chandelier on Kirk’s Folly yesterday that she was so crazy about. I have to say it was a beautiful piece.

It’s warming up out here. Lovely sunny day. Outlook for the summer is warmer than normal, which means wildfires.

      Happy May everyone!!!

OMG….I am sure it was me, not you! I sometimes read the posts too quick, in an attempt to answer them all quickly, when I am sore. I need to take my time…LOL
I hope you feel good today,no matter how old the boo boo is.
I am attaching the pics our local newspaper posted from the ones I sent in. they picked the younges and oldest of our family Easter pics to post. Tillie said she is going to kill me….LOL

      Hi DD,
We did not get any of the tornadoes here. They hit in a lot of other places but none of them were close to us. Thank God. No one got hurt and there were no deaths.
I am so glad that they posted your pictures in the paper. The one of Tillie is so cute. Her face just lights up with the bunny standing by her. Does Aizen believe that the bunny was there now that it has been the paper? He is so cute.
Having stomach surgery is not the answer. If they cannot do the shoulder surgery how can they do the stomach surgery? It is just as risky as any other surgery that you have. My niece had that surgery done and she got really ill and we did not think that she would get thru it. I am not saying that it would happen to you but it is just happens. You have to do what you think is best for you.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen
I am glad you did not get any tornado.
I totally agree- it is a really good pic of Tillie. She lit up like one of the kids. I am going to make a magnet out of that pic!
I agree- how can they do those dangerous stomach surgeries, bit not one that causes people pain. I feel this is fat shaming at it’s worst. All my numbers showed I was in good health, with no issues. Just not nice at all.So, unless I drop 35 pounds, no surgery for me. But, I can get a prescription for opioides and become an addict. that is allowed….but will never happen. According to the new regs, I would also not be able to have a shot in my back, as those require some sedation. I would love to know how this was decided upon, and whose idea it was.
Hope you have a good night. I am really ok. Coming to terms with dealing with an arm that does not work at top speed…..LOl
I started cooking again tonight. Made a pork roast with sweet potatoes, and corn. No complaints form the peanut gallery tonight….LOL

      Hi Adele,
That will make a cute magnet of Tillie. All the kids will smile when they see it. There are so many pictures of my mom that I wish that we had made bigger. My brother wants some of my pictures because no one else has very many. She spent a lot of tome here with us and everyone in this house is camera crazy.
I take pain pills for my back and I am not addicted. I have been taking them for about 10 years and do not get them refilled but maybe once a year. I do not take them every day or even every other day. It just depends on how you take them. They should do the surgery and not give you all this trouble. I had never heard of fat shaming to this degree. They probably let have a shot in the back . The sedative they give you is not so strong. This is all just crazy.
Just be careful and do not hurt your arm any worse then is hurt. I am glad that you fixed dinner tonight and everyone liked. They will probably not have the nerve to say anything with your sore arm.
      Have a good night.

      Hey Colleen
Maybe with my sore shoulder, I can get some mileage in the “no complaints” area for the dinners….LOL That is too funny.
What pain pill do you have? I thought all the opioids are addictive. Plus, they make me feel sick. Last night, it was pouring, and in the middle of the night, my back was killing me. So, I got up and took the Indomethacine- was so woozy when I got up this morning, I have yet to take my shower. That is a very heavy duty NSAID, and they did not want me to take it with the Celebrex, as it can cause belly issues. Well, I did not care last night, and took it. I figure if I have to take one once a month, it will not be bad. All of the pills for pain seem to do a number on me. It is Better for me to tough it out, than feel gross the next day. But, last night was bad, and I was so tired.
I tried to make the magnets yesterday, as they are having a sale. Their website was weird, and nothing was loading right. So, I will try again today.
You can go to Shutterfly, and make more pics of your pictures, and make magnets of them too. It is real easy.
I will try to post my pic of the dinner from last night….did it- one is the meat, and the other the dish with the sweet potato and corn too.

      Hi Ladies,
Adele, I understand your concern about becoming addicted to opioids, but I think if you limit yourself you won’t. Remember when I rolled out of my bed last yr & I ended up in the ER? The attending Dr. wrote a script for OxyContin, & guess what? It DIDN’T work for me!! I took a couple cheap aspirin & they worked FAR better than the expensive Oxy!!! I wouldn’t make a good drug addict!!! I HATE needles & I hate taking pills of ANY kind!! Even aspirin. I’ve asked my Dr. if it’s really necessary for me to take the meds I’m on. He told me the benefits outweigh the consequences of what would happen if I didn’t take em, & I’m not even taking that many. Most of my friends are walking pharmacies. I don’t know how they keep everything straight. Personally, I think it’s more of a state of mind. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my opinion. Whenever I was given pain killers, after my surgeries, all they’d do is knock me out for hrs. I never could understand how people think that’s getting high.
Did anyone get any of the new fashions on this weekend? I got a couple pairs of the Denim & Co. TSV, in the palm & floral prints. They looked so cool for summer.

Our Trail Blazers just played the longest game since the 1950s, 4(!!!) OTs. I was exhausted just from watching. They play again Sunday afternoon, in slow motion probably.
I hope you are having some nice sunny weather. It’s beautiful out here. It’s usually raining for the Cinco de Mayo festivities. I’ll try to send some of this lovely weather.
      Have a great Sunday.

      Hi Adele,
Your meal looks really good. I cannot picture anyone objecting to that meal. What did you have on top of the pork? It really looked good and would like to try that. Ron always says that pork chops are too dry.
I really think that the thing with the pain pills depends on the person. If you are a person that becomes addicted to things easily then you will get addicted to th pain pills. I take Hydrocodone. It is not as strong as oxy but never needed to take that. They tell you how many times a day you can take them and have not done that since I first hurt my back. The most I take in a day is 1\2 a pill or I will take a whole pill. I can go for two months without taking any. I think that you would be the same way. I really do think that these pills are meant to make you relax so you do not put a strain on your back . Well that is what I think for whatever that is worth. They have been making it sound like everybody becomes addicted and that is not true.
We went to a birthday party today. One of our nephews turned 60. Talk about making you feel old that does.We had a good time. The only thing is they start so early in the day. We had our lunch the cake and were home by 4pm. We had to drive for two hours to get there and 2 hours to come home. I have never seen people start so early in the morning.
It seems like a lot of the web sites are not acting right. We have been having trouble with different sites. I thought that I was doing something wrong.

      Hi DD,
I love the pictures that you posted. The flowers are so cheerful looking. I love to see all the flowers in the spring. They seem to be really bright and cheerful.
I did not buy anything.this week-end well not yet. I am going to have to see what they have on the q site and I might buy something. I have not been buying very many clothes her lately.
We finally had some sunshine here and are supposed to have some tomorrow also. It is just so good to see the sun and not rain. Tomorrow we have to go back to my mom’s house and do more cleaning out. It will be sad when we get done and sell the house. It seems like that will be the end of it all.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD and Colleen
This is who I do a pork roast. You place it in the pan, fat side up. Salt and pepper it, and then put a lot of finely chopped garlic on it- use the convection roast feature in your oven, (and bake at 350) if you have it, or just the bake mode at 375. I do 20 minutes a pound, and it comes out perfect. if you want, you can cut up potatoes, and put them around the roast, putting salt and pepper, and garlic on them too. they will get the flavor of the meat, and taste yummy. This time, I did the baked sweet potatoes, so I just wrapped them in aluminum foil. they are so good for you!
Today, I am making a brisket in the crock pot. Most Jewish people bake it in the oven for hours. I have found using the crock pot make sit a lot juicier. brisket is a very tasty beef, if done right. The recipe calls for potato and carrots to be added, which I did. Then you caramelize onions, and make this sauce, and the sauce gets added to the caramelized onions, and then bring to a boil- pour over all in crock pot, and cook for 7 to 8 hours on low. This will be the second time I did it like this. the sauce has a cup of Heinz Chili sauce, 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, 1/3 cup of white vinegar, tsp of salt and pepper, and 2 cups of chicken broth.

The flavor is unbelievable, and it is good left over too. I will try to take a pic of it….LOL. Serving that with salad today, and fresh pineapple for desert. But, I will bet Bobby is getting a desert, as he went out….LOL

DD- love your pics, as always. My tree that will flower, is still only buds on it. I am dying to see it in full bloom. It is a pink dogwood tree.

I suppose i could ask for a pin killer, but they do not do well with me. I prefer Alleve. But, they kept saying I will kill my heart and kidneys if I keep taking them with the Celebrex I take for arthritis. If I do not take Celebrex, I would be so stiff, I have no idea how I could walk…..LOL Arthritis stinks, big time.
I am dealing with it, and coming to terms with my shoulder. I have found ways to do things, without using it. the restriction I have is not to lift anything heavy, or the tear can get worst. So, Gary gets my heavy pans for me, and puts things in and out of the oven for me. If I want another shot, they will get me in there any day I want- all I have to do is call the PA for my doctor. Really no need, as it does not last long, so why bother.

I have told my friends we will be hearing about this mew policy on the news sooner or later, as someone is going to lose their mind being denied surgery because they are too big.

I have not bought anything form Quacker, accept the 4 tops and pants I got Tillie for Mothers Day and her birthday.

Colleen – that is great that you got to the party, and had some fun. I have noticed us older folks are liking to do things earlier and earlier….LOL

I had to have the Geek Squad at Best Buy remotely fix my computer. It was getting slow, and freezing. They said I had 4 malware things in there, form downloads. i am very careful, so I am shocked. he said it was probably from attachments. he put up the pop up blocker, and said to keep it on. So,now I can’t get into this site from the emails- I have to go in separately. he also said to make sure I do all the up-dates. I do, accept I didn’t do the Java ones- thought they were malware. they were not….LOL We have to become experts to keep our computers working well. I am so glad I have the Geek Squad protection. I love how they go in and remotely fix stuff, and I do not have to take this anywhere.

It is still raining. Do you believe it???
Hope your day is sunny- send some over here!

      Hi Everyone,
DD, I have some of those beach pants from previous years and ordered two more pairs from the TSV. I like that the petite is short enough and they are perfect for spring and fall wearing. I like the feel of the material too. As far as I am concerned they are a winner. I hope you like them as much.
Adele, how was the brisket? Greg loves the brisket but he likes it more when it is slow cooked and barbecued. He is a barbecue nut! lol
I love sweet potatoes in any form.
Colleen, it does make one feel kind of old when their nephew turns 60. I think my oldest nephew may be close to 50 and then the rest are probably later thirties and early forties. The youngest one is a niece and she is a few years younger than Jenny who just turned 37.
We didn’t do much this weekend. Greg wanted to work outdoors as this is the first dry weekend that we have had in a while. We had already had some asparagus up but it all got frosted when it snowed a couple of weeks ago but it is bouncing back now and soon we’ll be trying to eat it a lot.
I don’t think I’ve ever been prescribed one of the heavy duty pain killers-at least that I can remember. I know a couple of years ago when i had pneumonia they gave me that codeine cough medicine and I didn’t even like to take that. lol
I don’t like to take pills either but I need to take the RA meds or I would live in pain. A couple of years ago I got the amount of those way down but then I had a flare so he increased the meds and told me I would probably have to stay with the increase now. I’d like to try cutting back again but I don’t think I can talk him into it. lol
Greg got rained out of golf last week and it looks like it could rain again so I hope it holds off until they are done this week. It messes up my menu planning if they cancel as I don’t plan on cooking on the nights that he is gone. It’s funny I was reading on the Q boards where a lot of women have husbands who still like a big meat, potatoes and vegetable dinner and they could do without them a lot of times at this point in their lives. I thought I was the only one that felt that way so it was nice to know others did too. When we have steak now i just like to have a teeny tiny one and Greg can still eat a bigger one-although not as big as he used to be able to eat.
So far we have had a pretty cool rainy spring. I wonder if we will go from that straight into hot, hot , hot. It seems now that May is cooler but September is hotter than it used to be.

      Hi Adele,
Thank-you for sending the recipe for the pork. I think that I will try that one day when all the kids are here. They will enjoy that. It would be too much for just me and Ron. Your brisket sounds really good also. I made some corn beef for dinner tonight we just had a sandwich.
I ended up buying two pair of jeans and a top. I bought the ones with the flowers on the pocket and the leg and then I got the ones with roses on the leg. The top is the Bohemian top that they have. I got it in mint green. I hope it goes with the jeans that I got.
That is good that you are finding ways to do things with your shoulder hurting. That is going hard to get use to and it is not right that you have to. You will work it out you are a strong person.
It just seems funny that our nieces and nephews are getting that old. I did not realize that they were that close to my age. That seems so weird. I am only nine years older then our nephew. It seems like they were so little when we first got married. I guess I need to stop looking back and move on.
We have so much to do at mom’s still We have the living room, kitchen and the rest of the basement. Then it will all be over. That makes it really sad. It seems like once we put it up for sale she will really be gone. I guess that is stupid but that is how I feel right now.
That is good that the geek squad helped you with your computer. There are so many different things that can go wrong with the computer. They say that people can spy on and they can you can all your personal information. It is getting kind of scary to get on here sometimes.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Gail,
It just does not seem like we ever have time to just sit and relax. We went Saturday to the party and then Sunday we had to go to mom’s. So tomorrow we have to go to Ron’s sisters and then Thursday we will have to go back to mom’s. We cannot take things to charity on the week-end it has to be during the week. We are still having to go thru the books. She has books all over the place in the basement. She has two book shelves and a table stacked with books. It will take us forever to get thru them. She has almost as many tapes in there. We will go thru all of them.
Ron takes time when he wants a meal of meat and potatoes but then he does not like it all the time. We do like to eat soup once in awhile well as long as it is not potato soup. lol I am glad that he does not like big meals every night anymore. The one thing that he eats all the time is corn and it has to come out of a can. I like corn on the cob a lot better then out of a can.
That is a shame that Greg’s golf game got rained out. That should mean a meal out since you were not planning to cook. We have been eating out a lot more here lately then we use to. That is a good thing at our age we should not have to cook all the time. I wonder if we can convince our husbands of that. They get to retire but we never do. We are always cleaning, cooking and doing laundry. When is our retirement.
Well I need to stop complaining. We are lucky to have what we have and all of our children.
That is about all from here. Have a great night.

      hi Colleen,
You have been busy lately so it’s good that you are eating out more. I like to eat out even if it’s going to a local place for a sandwich.
I have to admit Greg will cook sometimes-especially on the days that we are having breakfast for dinner. He makes the best crepes which he actually learned from his mother. I don’t even know the recipe. Whenever we go to our friends up north he has to make them for breakfast because they love them too.
I can understand that there will be a sense of finality once your Mom’s house is cleaned out and sold. I also understand that it will be sad for you and your siblings as it is another part of her that you will be letting go of. I hope a nice young couple with some kids will move in there and love and appreciate the house. It does take a long time to clear out a house that someone has lived in for a long time. How long did your Mom live there?
We had to clear out both Greg’s grandfather’s house and his Moms and there was a lot of stuff after many, many years.
Maybe you will find some good books to read among your Mom’s stuff. That would be nice to read some of the books that she enjoyed.
Greg did get to golf last night without getting rained out so that was good. Tonight he has rehearsal so it’s another no cook night for me.
His birthday is Thursday. Sometimes i can think of a gift but this year I have nothing. He usually gets whatever he wants any way so he’s hard to buy stuff for.

      Hey Gailster!
OI feel the same way. I like at least 2 nights with a simpler meal- soup, and sometimes cereal. We just cannot have a big meal every day, as it is not good for us. I was to cook chicken last night, but i did not feel so good, as the shoulder pain kept me up the night prior. So, we had leftovers. Gary had the pork, and corn. i had a good size salad, with some cheddar cheese grated in it, and a piece of the pork. By 9 pm, I was as sick as a dog. I was in the bathroom the rest of the night, and still today. I have no idea what made me so sick.

So, today we are trying out the new smokeless grill we got from the Q. Having burgers. period. i do not feel like doing the corn on the cob, as I feel squeeze just thinking about it. No salad tonight, either. Belly too sore. I don’t even think I should have a burger. But, we want to try it out. I don’t know what to give Gary and Tillie….maybe they will be happy with chips….LOL

The brisket came out good. No complaints, and I forgot to take a pic of it! It is really good int he crock pot. For this recipe you caramelize onions (2). Then, you add the sauce- 1 cup of Heinz Chili sauce, 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, 1/3 cup white vinegar, and a tsp each of salt and pepper. You bring the sauce to a boil, and the pour over the meat. Oh….you first put in some potatoes, then carrots, then the meat in the crock pot. Very simple, and very good. You should try it. My SIL cooks her brisket in the oven for hours, and uses Chili sauce too. you should have seen Gary’s face when he realized it has hot sauce in it….LOL

It is sunny here and 70. Wow, is all I can say. The new tree has flowers, and I took a pic before the tree loses them in the nest rain storm…attaching them. I attached a pic from last year, and this year….

Sorry Greg could not play golf. I hope the weather is cooperating more this week.
      How are the kids??
Hope your day is going well.

      Hi Colleen
It is going to be hard to say goodbye to your Mom’s house. Please make sure you take the things you want, as once it is gone, it is gone. There may be a light fixture you loved, that would like nice in your house, etc. I am sorry i didn’t take my Mom’s chandelier. You know there are those things we took for granted in their homes, and we will miss them later.

I totally agree. Once the house is gone, it will be final that she is gone. Of course you feel that way. It is the last task in putting your Mom’s soul to rest. I hope you took her throw that she used in her chair. I think that would be very comforting for you. (I am assuming she had one)

I love corned beef sandwiches- one of my favorite’s. Yum, yum.

I am glad you got something nice for yourself. It is making your Mom smile up in Heaven. That said, I think this Sunday will be hard for you. I will be thinking about you all day long.

Please read the post to Gail to get more info on the day…..LOL

I am hoping your weather is good, and the sun is shining. the sun is out up here- yahoo!! Won’t be for long, as rain is coming back.
      Prayers sent your way….

      Hi Adele,
I think if I just served cereal for dinner there would be a revolt. Greg rarely eats cereal-even for breakfast. He usually eats eggs every morning.
I wonder what bothered your stomach the other night? I hope you are feeling better today.
Is the smokeless grill for indoors or outdoors? If’s it’s smokeless-what difference is it between that and cooking something in the broiler. It seems like it wouldn’t get a barbecue taste. I hope it worked good for you and you liked it. One good thing is you wouldn’t need charcoal or propane. I hate when we are cooking and run out of propane. We usually keep an extra tank but not always. There have been times when we have had to finish things in the oven.
That’s funny that Gary was horrified by the hot sauce. Greg will always add extra as i don’t like things too hot. He will add extra chili powder to the chili and use extra hot sauce on tacos.
Piper lost her first tooth. How come the little kids look so cute with their missing teeth but the grown ups-not so much.
We are back into rainy and cool again. I can’t believe how different my mood is between a rainy or a sunny day. When it’s rainy I just want to stay home and read or watch TV and when it’s sunny I want to get up and go.
I like your trees. We only have one tree flowering right now. I think everything will be late this year because of that last snow that we had. I always look forward to the lilacs, peonies and lilies of the valley but none of them last long. But they are the best smelling parts of spring.

      Hey Gailster!
I have no idea what bothered the belly, but it extended into yesterday. It is back to normal today. Gary is now sick- bad cold. So, my friends cancelled tomorrow, as they do not want to be sick. They will come next week, I hope.

So, Greg does not even like a bowl of nice hot oatmeal? Dam. Sometimes I like Cream of wheat too. I find I do not have milk, and that is one way of having some….LOL Tillie loves her oatmeal. She will make that when she does not feel like coming upstairs for dinner, or does not like what I am making.

The burgers came out delicious. Even I was surprised. they were juicy, and still had nice grill marks on the outsides. everyone was pleased. Did not make a big mess, either. The grill (indoor) comes apart to clean, and all goes in the dishwasher. So, it is a keeper. I was a little skeptical, but, happy it is worth the price.

I bet The Piper looks adorable with her little tooth missing. How cute! What did she say about the Tooth Fairy? I bet that was funny.

Today was bright and sunny, with a cool ocean breeze. we have some windows open, as the breeze is kind of chilly. It will rian tomorrow, and Friday, I think. Some showers are also possible for Sunday. I hope we can do a BBQ. We shall see!

What are your plans for Mothers Day? I hope Colleen can smile on Sunday, as it is going to be a difficult day for her.
Today is Tillie’s birthday. I honestly did not think she was going to make another year. she is now 93. Imagine?? I told her that I did not think she was going to make it, and she was surprised. how funny is that? So she says…..”You do know I am going to die some day?” I think she needs a smack on her bum…..LOL She did love her new Quacker attire. I got her 4 shirts and a pair of those flowered pants, and a set of Identity Theft stamps that she had wanted. She was pleased, and I was glad. Marissa brought donuts from Kane’s, and everyone had one. Amanda stopped by, and Heather was here, of course. Pina came too, with Marissa. So we had a full house this morning, and that makes Tillie smile. I am so sorry Colleen can’t have that anymore. It is so terribly sad.

Hope the sun continues to shine up your way, even if it is chilly. I may never get the herbs planted at this rate. ….Oh, Amanda checked for me, and we have 10 asparagus stalks growing. Ill try to take a pic of them.

      Hi Gail,
It is nice to go out more. The only thing is that I am getting of Italian food. We go to my mom’s favorite restaurant every Sunday. I like their food but I am getting tired of it. I guess that is where we are going the whole time that we are cleaning out the house.
The only thing that Ron will cook for breakfast is fried eggs and bacon. Sometimes he will fix sausage but that is it. So we do not have him fix it very often. I do like biscuits and gravy but I have to cook that.
She lived in that house for close to thirty years. She moved out of the house where her and my dad lived not too long after he died. She could not stay in that house. I can understand that and none of us would want to live in her house. A lot of people move into their parents old houses but I couldn’t
I know there is not a book that has ever been sold that is not in that house. Well at least it seems like it. We never knew that she has a lot of books that we did not realize she had. They are in every cabinet in that house.
Well that is about all from here. All I ever talk about is mom right now and I am really depressing and boring. Maybe after Mothers day I will have other things to talk about.
How is Greg’s elboe? Did the swelling go down?

      Hi Ladies,
It’s been awhile since I was on here last. I hope everyone is feeling better. Sorry to hear you were so sick Adele. Food poisoning of some kind. I hate when I get sick like that. Hope it’s better now.
Glad to hear the weather has cleared out a little bit out there. We’re getting a big taste of summer this week. It’s gonna be in the 80s tomorrow, then up to 90 Friday & Sat. That’s waaaaaay too hot for this early in the yr. We’re already under extreme fire danger in parts of the state. Brush fires are breaking out every day. There’s no lightning so that isn’t it.
Say, since you’re talking about BBQ, do any of you remember Open Pit bbq sauce? I used to use it on steaks. Back in the day when you could actually afford one every so often. I’d poke the meat then spread the Open Pit over the meat, then wrap it in tin foil & put it under the broiler. The sauce would seep thru the cuts in the meat, & it was delish!! that was back in the 70s, so I don’t know if they even make it anymore. I used to add a touch of honey to it too.

Someone in my family got her summer haircut today. I’ll try to send some pics along.

Oh say, have you noticed Chris Pryme hasn’t been on the Q for awhile? I know she was on an extended vacation to Fl. then came back, briefly. Well, she posted a photo on Instagram of her farm. Someone asked why we hadn’t seen her, & her answer surprised me. she said her husband had passed away!! Tonight David said she’d be on Sunday’s show. I wrote a note of condolence to her Instagram post.

Well, that’s all for tonight. Take care
      OH & HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!

      Hi DD!
Jewell looks adorable. Does she like her haircut, or does she want to get under the covers after? She is such a snuggle bunny!
That is awful about the fires already. I hope you get rain, so the fire danger goes away. You had enough fires last summer. i think your weather came here, and ours came to you.
Love the sign of talk to God when you can’t sleep. I think that is me almost every night.
Here is a funny for you……So, last night I was sound asleep, and had not woken up at all. Gary ( who has a cold) could not sleep, and instead of moving the bed, he gets out of bed to go i n the recliner, and wakes me up then, and when he gets back to be later. Seriously? Why in the world did we waste the money on his side of the bed? All he had to do is raise the head of his bed a little, and he would have been fine. God help me!
It is back to very chilly up here, and rain on the way…..
I am attaching a pic of Tillie from yesterday. She is not officially 93.
I definitely remember that BB sauce.
Hope the sun is out for you….actually…maybe we need to pray for rain out there.
You have a good Kitty Mother’s Day too!

      Hi Adele,
That’s a lovely pic of Tillie. That’s temptations figural harvest isn’t it? That looks like a really big bowl. Anyway, it’s gorgeous!!! I can’t get anymore, I’m running out of room. lol.
I’m not sure if Jewell likes her hair cut yet. she pouts for a day or two, but it’s getting hotter so she’ll appreciate it. She doesn’t like getting under covers, but she did get upon my pillow above my head last night.
I pulled out my AC today. I’m using the fan for now. It’s only gonna be hot for a couple days, so the fan should do fine. No rain in sight for now. I’ve heard the fire trucks all day today.
That smokeless barbeque looked like a great deal when it was on the Q. Sure does lessen the danger of a fire. Right now everything related to outdoor fires is banned till further notice. That would be allowed in these circumstances.
      Well, that’s all for tonight.
      Take care.

      Hi Adele,
I wrote to you yesterday and I do not have any idea what happened to it. It would be interesting to find out where all those posts go after we write them. I wrote to Gail also and hers went thru. I do not know why yours didn’t. So here goes again.
Your trees are so pretty. They have really bloomed out. Hopefully the blooms will stay on them for awhile. We have a big snow ball bush and the rain knocked all the blooms off before they had a chance to get very big. Maybe next year it survive long enough for the flowers to bloom all the way out.
We are going to my oldest daughters house for a bbq. I am glad that we are not going to a restaurant I could not take seeing all these people with their mom’s. I am really happy that they still have their mom’s but it hurts that I do not have mine. Hug Tillie every chance you get. Hug her once for me. I love the picture of Tillie. She just looks so happy. She has such a pretty smile.
The burgers sound really good. How do you like the smoker? It sounds really nice. Your brisket sounds really good also. You have been making some really good meal with that bad shoulder. I know that it must be hard to cook like that.
It sounds like you are feeling a lot better. I wonder what caused you to get sick. I wonder if it is the pain that made you sick. If I hav a lot of pain I will get sick to my stomach.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
      Colleen
p.s. This is funny we went thru my moms closet and found a dress that is really low cut and had a slit up the side. I wish we would have found that before she passed. We would have liked to hear the story about that.

      Hi DD,
The pictures of Jewel are so cute. You are right she will not mind the hair cut when it gets hot and she wants to be cool. It was warm here and now it is cool again. I guess that we are having a spring this year and we are not use to it. It has been awhile.
I am not sure which host is Chris Pryme. That is just so sad. I noticed that the Dan that quit was on the q yesterday. He was looking pretty good. He was selling food but cannot remember what it was though.
I like the pictures you have posted. The cottages are really pretty. I really like looking at them. There is not much much going on here. We have been cleaning my mom’s house out and we are getting so close to being done.
Well that is about all from here have a great night.

We still have the heat running at our house and it is getting near to mid May. Usually we had had the AC on a few times by now. It’s been a cold spring.
I still love Open Pit barbecue sauce although Greg prefers sauces with a little more bite so we don’t use it as much as we used to.
That was sad to hear that about Chris Pryme. It just shows we never know what trials or burdens someone else is bearing. That was nice of you to offer words of comfort. I am not on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter so I miss some of those posts.

      Hi Colleen,
It’s funny that your last post to Adele posted twice to make up for the one that didn’t post at all. lol
It’s not boring or depressing that you are talking about your Mom a lot. You just lost her recently and you are cleaning out her house so it’s normal that she is on your mind a lot. Feel free to talk about her as much as you want. We are all here to listen and it is a part of the grieving process. I think it’s better to talk about it than it is to hold all the sadness in and you are always among friends here. Plus some of us have been through what you are going through already so we may have some insights to offer. We are always here to listen and support. We love you!
You know I don’t think it would have bothered me to have lived in any of my parents houses after they died but it wasn’t really an option anyway since my Dad died in Louisiana and my Mom died in Florida and they are both buried in those states. I have only ever been to their grave sites on the days that they were buried. My SIL always goes out to her parents graves on Memorial Day and around Christmas. Plus her husband is buried there too. Now that she is remarried I wonder if she will use her plot by her parents and husband or have a new place with her present husband.
That was interesting about that dress that you found. It does make you wonder about the story behind it.
I was wondering-did anyone’s Mom’s ever date or anything after your Dad died. Greg’s Mom went on a couple of dates and that was it for her. She remained a widow. My Mom remarried a few years after my father died and then her second husband also died a few years after they married so I guess that was enough sadness for her.
Greg’s elbow is still swollen. It says if it doesn’t go away after a few weeks you should get it looked at so I guess he will have to do that. Fortunately it doesn’t really hurt him unless he presses on it-but it looks gross.

      Hi Adele,
I’m glad the grill worked good. is it like a George foreman type thing?
You won’t catch either Greg or i eating oatmeal as neither of us like it at all. Greg’s Mom used to like it but i just could never understand why. It’s a food that both looks awful and tastes bland-like baby pablum. lol
Tell Tillie happy belated birthday. She looks great in her picture. I’ll bet you are glad she made that trip to the emergency room that changed everything. it’s amazing how well she has done since then. Greg’s birthday was yesterday. We just went to the local pub for burgers last night. A lady at work made him a key lime pie and they all sang happy birthday to him and embarrassed him. lol
Piper was making a card for him yesterday and she told me that Kendall and Lachlan don’t care much when it is someone else’s birthday. lol
i wish i could send some asparagus your way.

      Hi Gail,
My mom never dated after my dad died. She did not even look for someone to date. She did move out of the house they built together. Had built they did not do it themselves. It was my dad’s dream house and the inside had all the things my mom wanted. She just could not stay there. I can understand her feelings. She loved her new house.
You would have fun cleaning out all her books. It was almost like being in the library. She had them all over her house and all on bookshelves. She had them all by authors together. So while we were looking we could find them easily. I could not believe that she took the time to do that. It was like that on every book shelf. She usually knew where each book was. She was something else. I hope that I will be like her as I get older.
We did all have a good laugh and wonder where she would have ever worn that. She was always so picky about what we wore and what books we read so now we wonder about her. lol
That has to really hurt Greg with his elbow. I hope that the swelling goes down soon. How are all the grands doing? I hope they are all doing fine. What are you doing for Mother’s day? We are going to Danyielle’s for a bbq so that will be nice. I do not want to see anyone with their mom’s. It would be too hard.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD!
Well there is no need for air condition out here….LOL It is in the low 60’s and rain on the way, again. It is supposed to clear in the morning tomorrow, so that will be nice. We will be able to do the bbq.
Thank you for the compliments on Tillie. yes, it is the Figural Harvest dishes. I wish they would bring them back, as Gary broke a dish already. I love those dishes, because they are so colorful. I used to use the Lenox Butterfly ones every day, which are also pretty. But, the Figural Harvest ones are so colorful, and everyone needs color in their lives.
I hope Jewell is adjusting to her new haircut. She is such a pretty kitty. Love the pics of her, and all you post to make us all smile.
I hope you get some needed rain, so the fires do no start up again. they were awful last year. I wish I could send you some rain.
I decided to buy the cake for tomorrow. I will dip strawberries in chocolate for tomorrow. That is my plan, and I hope I can get to them. Not sure when Bobby is doing the shopping. I may have to order an edible Arrangement from the local store….LOL
Hope your day is sunny and bright….with some rain showers mixed in.

      Hi Colleen,
We are going to brunch the same place that we went for Easter. The kids are at Adam’s this weekend but he doesn’t mind if Jenny takes them for this. Kendall doesn’t want to go but Lachlan and Piper do. Kendall will be in 6th grade next year and you can start to see the changes in attitude as she approaches her teen years. A mother needs her strength to get through these years-especially with girls. Boys teen years are much easier than girls-at least it seemed that way with our kids. You probably don’t know the difference having had all girls. I can’t imagine the patience it must have taken to have three teen age girls. My hair would have been totally gray. lol I wonder if Adele thinks Bobby’s teens were easier than Heather’s?
I know sometimes I would feel so bad as Jenny and I were so close in her younger years and when she got to be a teen it seemed like sometimes she just despised me. lol I’m glad they grow out of that stage and get to be your friend again when they are older.
The girls look cute. They got haircuts and Jenny let them get the different colors on the bottom of their hair. Kendall chose blue and Piper chose blue on one side and pink on the other. They were so delighted with their hair when we went over last night. I know it washes out in a few weeks so it is not anything permanent and they were so excited to get it done.
I can’t believe your Mom alphabetized all her books. She was very organized! Actually I used to alphabetize our music CD’s and as you can imagine we have many-but then it just got out of hand and I stopped doing it-although I think my collection of musicals is still pretty much in order.
I hope you find some good books to save and read among her collection.
I am sure you are like your Mom in more ways than you realize. I’ll bet your kids would see it more than you do. I know as time goes by I see Mom’s traits in me and my sister. We use a lot of her phrases.
I can’t believe what a cold spring we have had. The temperatures are still in the 40’s at night and we are still running heat. I imagine this year we have run through most of our prebuy on our propane. usually we have some left to carry over at the end of heating season.

      OMG, Colleen!!
That is hysterical about your Mom’s dress! I wonder where she wore it. It would have been so funny to say to her….so, ma,….. what is this about????
I don to blame you for not wanting to go out on Mothers Day. Way too hurtful. After my Dad died, i ignored Fathers Day every single year. It just made me cry. I only began celebrating it again when I married Gary. You just let the girls do nice things for you tomorrow, as you are a Mom and deserve the best from them. I know they will be real good to you, as they love you to pieces. So does Ron.

The shoulder has its good and bad days. This morning was a real bad day. I had to take an Indomethacine early at dawn to make the pain stop. It took some of the edge off, and I was able to get back to sleep. I hate those days. I was praying for God, and everyone up there, to let some of the shoulder heal, so the pain will not be as bad. i did read some rotator cuff tears do heal themselves. I just have to realize I will have those kind of days, and just move on, and not complain. Gary asked me if I had a bad night, as he heard me up a few times. I tried to minimize it, as I just do not want this dam shoulder to be the only thing we talk about every day. We both have to move forward, and just preened it is ok. I told Gary that , as it just takes up too much of our days.

How are all your bones doing??? With this rain and cold, and the snow you keep getting, the old bones are crying….LOL

Did you see Blue Bloods last night? It was a good show- very emotional. they did nto show much of the wedding, so I wonder if they will open next year with the reception.

Have a great Mothers Day, in spite of how you feel. Please try to smile at least once, or you will make your Mom cry in Heaven. She wants you to have a good day. Think about her in her racy dress! Love you!

I forgot to say, you are not boring at all. We want to hear how you feel, so we can try to make you smile, and be happy again. It will take time. I still cry when I hear someone mention my Dad;s name. he has been gone for 30 years.

      Gailster
The grill’s big. It is about 18 to 20 inches long, and at eats a foot wide. I have no idea where I will store it when are not using it. That is a decision that needs to be made soon- right now it is sitting on the counter.
I hope Greg’s elbow? All this cold weather is just not helping.
I am very glad we got Tillie the help she needed. I really feel she was wishing herself gone. She almost succeeded!
Omg, Piper is so funny. She rated out her siblings about Greg’s birthday…..LOL
the answer is definitely yes. Bobby was way easier to raise then Heather. He was such a happy baby too. he went to sleep with no problem. Not Heather. She never slept. To get her to go to sleep was the biggest challenge of the day. She still has trouble sleeping….LOL I have always said if Heather was born first, Bobby would never have existed….LOL
We still have the heat on too. i did shut it off this morning, as it will be nice today.
Hope your brunch goes well, and you get all you want for Mothers day!

      Hi Gail,
That is nice that you are going out for brunch. Kendall will probably change her mind when it is time to go eat. I remember those days when our girls thought they knew it all and argued with me over everything. It was a rough time. I wish we would have had a son between the girls. That way we would have had a break. Well we all survived it.
The girls sound cute. All the kids are putting different colors in their hair. I bet it looked cute. That is funny that Piper had to have two different colors. She would be the one. If it is still in style I can see her dying her hair in a wild color. My grand daughter Brook has had her hair purple and pink. You never know what color it will be when we see her.
We all took a lot of books with us. I got her collection of Mauve Binchy and of Murder She Wrote. She had so many collections of books and tv series. I got the Murder She wrote series and wonder if any of the books are taken from the tv shows. There are so many questions I wish I could ask her right now. She told us a lot but there is still more that we would like to know.
I do catch myself saying things that she use to say. It is really hard not see part of her when I see my siblings. A lot of people told me that I look like my mom. I am not sure if I do or not. This was at the funeral home so it makes me wonder when I looked like her.
I hope that you have a Happy Mothers Day and Jenny does also.

      Hi Adele,
It may just be my daughter and her kids at her house for Mothers Day.Mandy has to work and Melissa cannot come home this year. The kids will not be off school and they will not have enough time to drive here and go home. When they went to a school on the base they could get off school whenever they needed to. The school worked with the soldiers.
We could not ignore Father’s day here after my dad died. The kids all lived at home and they wanted to do something for his day. So it made it a little easier to celebrate that. Mom was still around then also so we tried to do things and include her.
It is hard when you are hurting so bad at night. At least you do have something to help with the pain and can go back to sleep. I am glad that I have pain pills to take when I am hurting really bad.
I did see Blue Bloods last night. I could not believe that they did not show more of the wedding. It was funny that she had Frank walk her down the aisle. I wonder if after last week her dad would have been there. He really turned out to be a jerk. This should be interesting to see if Her mom will be on more of the shows.
What are you doing for Mother’s Day? I hope that you have all of your family there with you and they fix dinner for you. Have a very Happy Mother’s Day.

You are a Puppy Mom? Didn’t you have a dog a while back? I thought I read that in a post a long time ago.

Thank you!! Hope your weather was better than ours up here. We are getting a nor’easter tonight. I swear, this rain is making me crazy!

Did you see Blue Bloods Friday?

      Hi Colleen!
I did it the easy way yesterday. Bought the cake, and dipped strawberries. Pina brought over a delicious macaroni salad, and I made the potato salad- the German way. Attaching pics of the food….LOL My phone has been taking the pics very red lately- the indoor pics. I want to get a new phone, but I am waiting until i get the right price.

Everyone had a good time. With 14 people, you could not even hear yourself think. i am exhausted today. not cooking- soup and leftover potato salad….LOL…..and cake….LOL

I hope you all had a good time. I hope your Mom gave you some little message from Heaven- by something one of the kids said, or that you saw, that reminded you of her. I believe little messages come through.

After my dad died, I was alone, so it was easy not to celebrate Fathers Day….LOL Gary gave us all a reason to celebrate it again. he is a good man.
Hope you are good today, and your weather better than ours!

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone had a great Mother’s day weekend. Our heatwave is over. It started cooling of overnight Sat. & it was at least 10 cooler Sun. & another 10 today. We’re in for some rain coming in overnight tonight, & be here all week. Not steady rain, but lots of showers. Right now any is a welcome relief. The pollen has been really bad, but it should be a lot better when the rain comes.

Sue, I’m not a mother either, & for all intents & purposes I have no family left. So, don’t feel like you’re left out, your post sounded so sad. We’re your family & mine as well.
I’ve been taking down the spring décor & will be putting up my tropical stuff for the summer. Since I’ll never seen the Caribbean I do the next best thing I can afford to do!!!
      Well, that’s all for now.
      Have a great week everybody.

      Hi Adele,
Well this is the second time that I tried to write to you. The first one just disappeared and I got disconnected from the site. When I got back on it was gone. I have no idea what happened so I will try again.
We really had a nice day Sunday. Well there is one thing that happened that may have been a sign from mom. When I got there Aliza came running to the door and was yelling grandma and gave me a big hug. She ran to me instead of Ron which is really unusual. After she said hi to him she came back to me and wished me Happy Mother’s day and gave me a hug and kiss. That is really unusual because she is usually very stingy with her kisses. It was just so sweet. They gave me a dozen roses with baby’s breath mixed in. It was really pretty.
I am glad that you had help with the dinner. The cake looks really good and so does the chocolate strawberries. I really like German potato salad. We have not had it in a long time though. The macaroni salad sounds really good also. That was nice of Pina to bring it.
The phones are not that great after so long. They always send notices that we are ready for an update but never mention how much it is going to cost us. Remember when they use to send notice of a upgrade and thy were for free. Now it cost a fortune.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
You have a cat child. They need just as much care as a child and Jewel gives you so much joy. She is a lot of company for you and is like a child. It does not matter if it is a child or a pet you are the care giver.
We have been having a lot of rain here and the weather is cooler. It is supposed to warm up this week though. So it will be nice. We had sunshine all day today and that was a nice change. Hope it stay sunny when it warms up.
I like the Picture of the light house. It reminds me of my oldest sister. She loves them and has pictures of them all thru the house. She use to live in California and loved the water.
I just got my Easter put away. I have been really slow at getting things done. I guess it doesn’t matter just as long as it gets done. This has been a long two month’s.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      HI DD!
Love the beautiful blue ocean pics. the ocean up here isn’t as blue. Still nice to see, no matter what.
You are a kitty Mom. I bet Jewell feels you are her mother.
It is very cool and rainy up here- again. There was a spot on the news about the local nurseries up here losing money, due to all the cold and rain. My window boxes are empty on the deck- no herbs bought yet. Too rainy and cold. So, no Pesto Sauce is planned for a while.
It is only 5:25, and it is so dark, I have both lights on in the kitchen.
I went to the dentist today for a cleaning, and was told I had a lot more plaque than I have ever had on the left side of my mouth. All due to not flossing as well, because of the shoulder on that size. So, I have to do a better job, no matter what. i ordered a new Water Pik , as mine is older, and figured that may help too. I use the automatic tooth brush too- have for years.
I saw a bunny on the lawn when we came back from the dentist, and then, saw a baby bunny under the bushes. he was about 6 inches long, and so cute! His ears were not even big yet. I wish the boys could have seen him. It is such a wonderful feeling to see a baby animal. It made my day.
Hope you and Jewell are good. We have the heat on- go figure!
      Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen!
You should check with your phone carrier, as I think the up-dates are all free. I have not heard of anyone having to pay for one. we have Verizon. I have an LG phone, maybe that makes a difference. The kids always want me to get an I phone, so I can face time them. I would drive them nuts with face time….LOL LOL they would be real sorry about that!
The show I love is on tonight- Bless This Mess. I tell you, I laugh so hard my belly hurts. Then again, it does not take much to make me laugh.
I think your Mom went through cute little Aliza to give you a message for Mothers day. That was real sweet. I know it brought a smile to your face, and that is wonderful.
That was very nice for the girls to give you such a beautiful bouquet of roses. I got gift certificates, and Bobby gave me cash to get the herbs to plant in the window boxes. We can’t plant anything yet, as it is always raining and cold. this has been the weirdest Spring ever. I have not had one day to sit on the deck yet.
the cake tasted as good as it looked….LOL We still have a piece left for tonight to share.
Hope you have a good night, and that the sun shines for you tomorrow.

      Hi Everyone,
Adele, I hear that you are getting bad weather out east. We are finally getting some sunshine and a warm up. I’m sorry you were so beat after Mother’s Day. It doesn’t seem quite fair does it? You are supposed to be getting pampered. We just went out for brunch and that was it. Kendall and Lachlan stayed at their Dad’s and Piper was the only one who came. It wasn’t very crowded at all as they didn’t advertise the brunch at all. For some reason I was awake at five that morning and couldn’t go back to sleep so after brunch i went upstairs and napped for three hours. lol After that I wasn’t even hungry for dinner but Greg was so I gave him the left over sloppy joes from the night before. No cooking yesterday and today as he had golf yesterday and rehearsal today. I think I will have pirogis for dinner if there are still some in the freezer.
Colleen, that was nice that you got the roses and that Aliza ran out to kiss you. It made you feel special.
I think the Murder She Wrote books may have been written after the program was popular. I thought I read that somewhere. I like Maeve Binchy too and even though her books were written awhile ago I have not read them all. There are so many books I still want to read. And I’m adding more to the list all the time. lol You will be set up with reading material for a long while.
DD, I probably won’t get to see the Caribbean either. I wish we had traveled more when we were younger but then we had neither the time or the money. Now that we have some of both I don’t think I could make the trips that I dreamed of as walking for long times and distances is not as easy as it used to be. That’s why I like reading-I can visit times and places that I can’t get to in real life.
Has Jewell forgiven you for her haircut yet? lol I used to love how the dogs smelled when they came home from the groomers. I don’t know what she put on them but they smelled so good. I used to hate if it rained right after a grooming as then the rain would wash the smell off when they went outdoors to potty.

      Hey Gailster
I have not cooked anything since Sunday…..LOL Last night I has soup and left over potato salad. Tonight, I ordered a sandwich form the local deli. Gary ordered a steak sub….LOL
Tillie did not feel like anything tonight, as she got up late today, and just does not feel like a big dinner. I spent some time with her downstairs, after I got back from the dentist
there is nothing wrong with a nap on Mothers Day. It took me 2 days to recover….LOL LOL
Your brunch was the best idea. No prep, nor clean up. Best ever.
      Our dinner just arrived…gotta go…..LOL
Dont forget to watch Bless This Mess tonight….

      Hi Adele,
I am talking upgrading the phone not the updates on data. I am with Verizon also. They are who we have our home phone and internet thru. We have been wanting to find another company but they are hard to find out here where we live. That is the only problem wih living in the country. I have an I phone and I really like it. Ron has an android and that thing is hard to figure out.
It is good to have a show to watch that makes you laugh so hard. There is not that many on tv like that.We still are watching all the old shows. It is easier to just watch the old shows because Ron likes to complain about all the shows that I watch. He is really a pain lol
Did you get the cake from qvc or at a local grocers. I really thought that it looked good. I am really hungry for something sweet and gooy. This is not a good day for me with sweets.
Mandy took me out to lunch today. That was her mother’s day gift to me. We went to a really nice restaurant and got a chicken salad sandwich. They put it on raisin bread and that was good. Better then regular bread. It was the first time that I had been in there. You really got some nice things for mother’s day. Did Tillie come upstairs and spend the day. I bet that would have been the best gift that you could get. Just hearing my mom say my name this year would have been the only gift I would have wanted. I miss her so much.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night. Hope that your shoulder is feeling better.

      Hi Gail,
I am sorry that the kids did not go to brunch with you. I bet that really hurt Jenny’s feelings. Kids can be a real pain sometimes. My granddaughters did not do anything for their mom and they are older. So tomorrow I will get on to them and let them know that was nice to do that. They are old enough to do something for her. Brook works and had to work on Mothers day and so did Mandy. We were going to make breakfast for them but she did not want to get up early. I am jut upset with them.
We have enough books that there is no telling how long that it take to read them all. I have a lot of Murder She Wrote Books to read. I think last count there was 21. I still have not emptied the boxes with the books that I brought home.
It is getting hard to not take a nap everyday. I think that I am getting too use to taking one and if I miss it like I did today it is rough. lol Well that is about all from here have a great night.

      Hey Colleen!
OMg…that is funny. I thought you were talking about the up-dates they do. I have an android, and the kids keep telling me the i phones are easier to work with. I really have my heart set n that Samsung 10 (I think that is the one). It is supposed to take really good pictures.
So, the sun was out until about 10:00. Now it is cloudy and gloomy again. I hope it doe snot rain again.
That was nice for Mandy to take you to lunch. I like chicken salad on raisin bread. Yummy. I like anything on raisin bread…..LOL
Funny you should say you miss your Mom’s voice the most. I quickly learned that after Maxine died. I had some emails, and recipes she sent me, with her humor on them. What I did not have was her voice. When Winnie was getting worst, I saved a message she sent me. It is simple…she is saying…”hello, it’s only me”. Every once in a while I get a message from Verizon saying I have an expired message, and then I re-save it, so I can still hear her voice. Her sister Joanne said she missed her voice, and I was able to send the message to Joanne. Now, she has her sister’s voice too. I am sorry you do not have any message saved from your Mom. Do the kids have any videos of her save don their phones? If they do have them send you one, and then you can hear her again. I really hope you do have at least one they saved. I saved Winnie’s last text message to me too. I am becoming very keenly aware of how comforting those messages can be. I am praying you will have at least one.
I hope you have some sun today too, for after your nap….LOL
Did you see new Amsterdam last night? OMG….I was crying at the end, as usual.

      Hi Adele,
I am trying not to watch anything that is sad. I start crying and I can’t stop. I do not know why we cry like that all the time. It doesn’t take much to get me started. I guess after we get done with all of mom’s stuff it may start to get better. At Least I hope so.
Is Samsung an android? I have never had one except for my tablet and all I do on that is play games. It is not connected to the internet. So I do not know much about it.
We have rain at night but it stops in the morning. So that is not too bad. We do not go out at night that much anymore. I know that it will not stay that way for long and then we will have rainy days.
We do not have her voice recorded anywhere. It is really sad. My youngest daughter was always going to talk to her and ask all types of questions about what it was like when she was young. I really wish she would have done that. She was going to make copies for all her cousins.
We did not do much today. I was really sick to my stomach but that will be gone by tomorrow. We are going to go and pick Aliza and she is going to stay at our house over night. It should be interesting. She is sleeping in a regular bed now so that will be nice. She will probably sleep better now.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.

      Hi Ladies,
I wrote a post last night & it vanished, pics & all. On top of that I had to sign back in!!! I was so mad I shut down till now.
I thought I was done running the heater, but no. We went from 90 on Sat. to mid 50s yesterday, & today. The rain has returned, thankfully. We’re supposed to get rain all week. Any little bit helps.
I have an iPhone & love it. I had an Android phone & I HATED it!!! I can’t remember why it’s been so long ago. I’m due for an upgrade which means a new phone. I’m not sure if I want a new one right now.

Isn’t that sad we lost 3 stars this week? Doris Day & Tim Conway I’m more familiar with. I’d laugh till my sides hurt at Tim on the Carol Burnett show. He was a comedic genius, it just came so natural to him. and it was good & clean comedy, no profanity, etc. His main goal was to crack up Harvey Korman, which he did every time!!
My fur less baby has been driving me nuts the past couple days. She’s on my chest right now between me & the computer. she’s been doing this most of the day, back & forth all afternoon. I put her down, she leaves then returns to start over.
Oh Colleen, Chris Pryme is the Lock & Lock lady. She’s back & was on ITKWD today.
Well, that’s about it for tonight. someone is demanding my attention. lol

      Hi Colleen
I hope your stomach is better today. Sometimes it is something we ate that does not agree with us, and sometimes we catch some virus. either way, I am hoping you are fine today. It will not be fun to be at Aliza’s when your belly does not feel right.
I will be waiting to see the stories you have from your overnight visit. I bet Aliza will have all kinds of plans for you and Ron. I hope you have a great time.
Of course you cry at any sad story right now. You are grieving for your Mom, and any sad story will trigger the tears. It is going to take a while. When I taught classes on loss, I told people it takes 2 full years for a healthy adult to resolve a loss and be able to move on. Many issues play into that time factor. You will find your self going in and out of the stages of loss, for a while….going between the denial/bargaining/anger/depression/acceptance stages, until you reach that point that you can talk about her without breaking down. The only thing time does is give us a place to put our sadness, it does not take the sadness away. it is very early in the process for you. Give yourself time…a lot of it. Buy something pretty for yourself. Sit outside and listen to the birds. Do anything your heart desires to give yourself a tiny bit of peace.
I wish I could make you feel better. Sometimes a brownie works, or a McFlurry from McDonalds.
Yes, Sansung is an android phone. I have never had an Iphone.
Amanda is on her way inside for a little visit before she goes to work, so I have to go for now. I hope you have the best time with the kids tonight, and that the sun shines for you.

Well Hello to All my dear friends. I haven’t even begun to read or try to catch up on all your news. I think I am going to have to get another computer. This one takes me at least 30 minutes to be able to even sign in on our site; but there is so much to tell you all. Joey just left about an hour ago driving to Ashville to help with the move in. Neal has been there for a few days; and Sarah, baby and Lisa will be driving there tomorrow. Sarah and baby have been with her family for a week. We had a wonderful time with all the family together. Our eldest son and his wife were here for 4 days after he helped Neal drive from Ca. here. I did lots of cooking, and honestly Jerry and I were both so exhausted each night. He hurt his back right away picking up the baby, and nothing could prevent it. Colin loved him so much He wanted to sit in Jerrys lap all the time; except when he was running. lol He only had two speeds, asleep or wide open running. lol He is the love of our life. I was in the store the day that Buddy and Neal were to arrive, and I turned around and there he was standing right by me. I just lost it. Everyone at the store was crying. Buddy is 47 but he started working as a sacker at this same store when he was 16; and some of the workers there remember working with him as a young boy. Everyone was crying and it was such a wonderful surprize. Neal had gone to pick up sarah and baby. So by the time we got home he was there too. It was so wonderful to have them all here. So now it is definitely too quite. But at least he is 7 hours away and not days away.
I so hope everyone is doing well. I have really missed everyone of you. We are dog sitting for the next 7 days while Joey and Lisa will be in Ashville. Ruby is a sweet dog. She is just so protective of us that we always have to walk her on a leash. It has been so hot here with lots of thunderstorms. But I think the next few days are to be sunny. Do you have special plans for the summer? We haven’t even had time to think of anything. I know it will take some time for the family to get settled in; so don’t want to just rush up there. Will be hard not to though. Sue, did it ever stop raining up your way? I don’t think you would want the lightning and thunder we have had. Take care everyone. Missed you all so much. Barb

      Hi DD!
I am having some trouble with my emails. I also lost a post, but, when I realized it was going nuts, I highlighted the post, and did “ctrl C”, then copied the post into word, and later pasted it back in here with “ctrl V”. I am not sure where you were in the process of losing the post, but if you see it acting weird, try to copy it before you lose it. Hope that helps. I had to do this again today, with an email I was writing to my cousin.

I love the Patriotic pics….I am all about the red, white and blue…..

I hope you got the well needed rain. I wish I can give you ours. We had sun today, and it was wonderful. It will rain again by tomorrow, I hear. Oh well…

This morning i had Nancy and Gerald visit for breakfast- take out breakfast. We had a lot of laughs and good conversation. After they left, i was reading posts, and then Amanda came by. She visited before she went to work. She will be working late tonight.

It seems almost everyone has an I phone. I am really on the fence. I have time to think about it, as i want to wait until they offer a free one, or one for very little money…..LOL

I bet Jewell is cold, with all the chilly weather you are getting. She wants to snuggle with you, until the weather gets warmer. this is such an unusual Spring, for all of us. Very strange. I am dying for the weather to break, so I can get the herbs to plant on the deck.

Hope your night goes well, and you get the rain you need for your area.

      Hey Barbara!
OMG….I have tears in my eyes from reading the story of your beautiful greeting in the store. It was like those touching moments when a service man comes home to meet his family and everyone is hugging and crying. I hope somebody got it on film for you. You must have been so happy. We all need your happy stories, so we can have our hearts full of joy for all of you. I bet everyone in the store was so excited he came to meet you there.
I am so glad the visit went well, and you got to hug the stuffing out of little Colin. I hope Jerry’s back is not too bad form all the lifting, and squeezing. how cute that Colin wanted to be in his lap all the time.
I think all our computers are acting weird. i have been told if a computer is older then 6 years old, it needs to go. Seriously? With all the money we lay out for them, they should last longer than that! The technology gets so much more advanced in a year, our devices cannot keep up.
I hope you are Jerry get some rest, and get ready for the trip to go vosot Colin some time soon.
      Have a great night.

For those of you wondering about the weather here. Today we finally had some sun & 72 degree temp. But have been very wet. The weatherman said we only had 2 days this month with no rain. We had a lot of rain last year but we are ahead of last years total. It is to be warmer but with showers & thunderstorms for the next 4 days. Would love to send you some rain DD because we are super soggy here..
Barbara so glad you had a nice time with your family. I am sorry Jerry hurt his back but I am sure he loved having Colin on his lap.

      Hey Sue!

We are in the same miserable rain pattern. It was so nice yesterday, and the old bones felt great. I call the rain and chilly weather today a ” bad arm day”. Gary wanted to go to Home Depot and get the herbs for the garden, and I told him not to bother. We may end up buying all the herbs at the supermarket at this rate.

I guess today is a hot chocolate day, instead of an ice tea day. We both need to pray for sun…..LOL

Hope you are not too sore form all this miserable weather.

      Sue,
I hope you will have a better summer this year so you can get some of those fresh veggies that you love. Yesterday on the news they were showing how much the rainfall has increased in many cities across the country. It’s scary to see all these climate changes. It makes you wonder what the future will be like for the next generations.

It sounds like Jewell is looking for some extra attention. She is such good company. I miss having a pet in the house.
I love the red, white and blue pictures. I have several of the Quacker patriotic shirts and I just love wearing them during the summer months.

      Barbara,
I am so happy that you had a glorious visit. I’m sorry Jerry hurt his back though.
Hopefully with them being seven hours away now you will get to see them more.
I know it would make a big difference if Brent were seven hours instead of 18. Plus where he lives it’s not even worth flying to as the nearest airport is still five hours away from where he lives-so even when we did fly in we had to rent a car at the airport anyway. We used to do the trip in two days but since I started having trouble with my legs from sitting too long in the car we have broken it up into three. But we could do a seven hour trip in a day. Maybe some day he will move back closer.
We will be dog sitting next month too when the kids go to Disney. Jenny’s new dog is so much younger and more energetic than we are now used to-plus he doesn’t like men very much so that should be interesting. If only he realized how much Greg wants to be his buddy. Maybe when we are the only show in town he will learn to trust him. It makes us wonder what happened in his previous home.

      Colleen,
That was nice of Mandy to take you out to lunch. I have never had chicken salad on raisin bread. I do like it on a croissant.
I don’t think Jenny’s feeling were hurt when the kids didn’t want to come to brunch. It actually gives her a chance to relax a bit more with just Piper along. Piper liked the dessert table which we were seated right next to. lol
I hope you had a lot of fun with Aliza-even though she probably wore you out. I know the kids wear me out. They are so active.
I have never read a Murder She Wrote mystery. My Mom always used to watch the TV program. I think they still show them somewhere on the Dish programming. It seems like I’ve run across them while channel surfing. Maybe the Hallmark mystery channel?

      Hi Adele,
Well the Big Bang Theory ended last night. I will miss that program. Did you hear that they cancelled The Kids Are All Right, Cool Kids and Life in Pieces. I liked all of those shows. The Kids Are All Right really grew on us. I loved the parents on that one. Sometimes I think they don’t give these shows enough time to gather an audience as some shows you have to watch a few times to appreciate them. I think Splitting Up Together was also cancelled which is a shame as I thought the two leads had great chemistry. I must admit I love Superstore but I don’t think it is as good since Amy became the boss. I liked it better when Glen was the boss. I hope they realize this and change the direction that they are going. I could so picture all those people working at our local WalMart. lol
Ever since I stopped having a flip phone I have had a Samsung. The i phones are so much more expensive! I don’t think Greg would ever spring for one. My tablet is also a Samsung and it’s perfectly fine. Greg does have an I Pad but I think it was a Christmas gift from me.
I must have missed something as Colleen mentioned something about liking the things you got for Mother’s Day-what did you get? Since hosting it wiped you out maybe next year you should have a barbecue with all sides purchased from the deli so you can relax. I know you like to cook for your family and that’s how you show love but I’m sure they don’t want you to be wiped out for two days afterward either. I’ve found that they don’t really care that much what we eat as long as we can spend some time together. So as much as I liked making the home made goodies I just got too tired doing it all.
We had a beautiful day Wednesday, then yesterday right when I was going to the dentist it got dark and stormy and now today it’s back into the 50’s.

      Hey Gailster…..
I can’t believe they cancelled those shows. I love all of them. My entire family watches Life in Pieces. I love that The Cool Kids has an old actor on every week. Last week it was one who played on MASH. I get the biggest kick out of The Kids Are Alright. the parents are hysterical.
I hate when they cancel show I enjoy. I stopped watching The big Bang a year ago. It was not as funny as it was in years past, so that one I can see cancelling. I also agree that I liked Glen much better as the boss, and hope they change it back.
The Galaxy 10 is the phone I have my eye on. I am waiting until it goes down to 10.00 a month…..LOL All the kids want me to get the I phone. Still on the fence on that one.
They all gave me gift certificates and money, so I can get what plantings I want for the yard. It is raining here again, so still no trip to the nursery or Home Depot. Just like in Sue’s area, the news just said we had only 2 days in May with no rain. Sue and I will be growing gills if this continues.
We are all getting older, and the cooking and baking is more difficult, especially with this dam shoulder. I have not cooked all week…..LOL We got sandwiches 2 nights, and one night I did the frozen chicken fingers. Tonight, it is hot dogs, as I have no desire to do anything time consuming. My neck is killing me today, form all the rain. Shortly, I will get into the shower, and that is my big activity for today. How funny is that?
Yesterday, the weather was so nice, and everything felt so good. I knew it was not going to last. Plus, I had company all day. Nancy and Gerald were here in the am, and Amanda stopped by before going to work. No company today. I think everyone is under their covers, in bed….LOL
Is there any news on Brent, and how he is doing in his new place? Or health news? I feel so bad for him. He just cannot catch a break, and he is so far away from all of you. I hope he decides to come closer to home some day, as I know you and Greg would love to see him. I bet his sister would too, and the kids.
You mentioned you legs in the post to Colleen. How have they been doing since the surgery? I am hoping they would be better.
My legs are about the same. They are more swollen on days i do not take the fluid pill. I just cannot take it every day, as it wipes me out. I do it every other day. I wonder if I ever lost weight, would the legs not swell as much in the afternoon…….not much hope for me losing. No matter what I do, or do not eat, the needle does not move much. I will lose 3 pounds, then a week later, they are back. I have finally come to this decision. i am going to concentrate on making better choices. When we order out, I get kabob salads, small sandwiches, with more veggies in them, and nothing fried. I eat my fruit every day, like a good girl. I got some interesting nuts for snacks too. I will see if I can gradually lose, without saying the word diet. That just freaks me out way too much. I told Gary to knock off the surgery talk, as it is not going to happen. I will live with what I have, do my ice treatments, and have him lift anything heavy. Next week, I will have to get back into doing dinners more, as Tillie also depends on me for food, and that is hard. I will use the crock pot more, and do simple dinners- baked chicken ( with the skin and bone- way easier to prepare) , meatloaf, roasted meats, etc. Plus, we now have the cool indoor smokeless bbq- that makes hamburgers, sausages and hot dogs easy to do. Our local Italian deli has broccoli rabi sausages, and spinach ones – they out the veggies in with the Italian sausage meat. They taste good. they also do cheese in some of them- not as healthy….LOL So, i will try, but,my way. Maybe I can gradually succeed at losing a modest 20 in a year. that is a goal i could probably reach.
How is everything in your neck of the woods? Have you been able to plant anything outside yet? I got a note form the Q saying I will nto be getting the Meyer Lemon tree…..oh well.

      Hi Ladies,
OH GOD, where do I begin? To start off, I’ll be signing off for awhile. No, no issues with any of you. I don’t know where to begin, but here it goes.
It is with the HEAVIEST of hearts that I do this post. I may not get thru this so don’t be surprized. I just got home from the vet, where I had to leave someone near & dear to my heart. It started yesterday(Thurs.) when I took her in to the vet. They gave her some fluids & a shot to ease nausea. When we got home she seemed ok. She went to her water & food dishes, which was normal. She ate later in the day & was okay. Around 8pm I heard a weird noise. I thought it was coming from the hall outside. As I got close to the bedroom, it was coming from there. I looked in & she wasn’t sight. I looked around the bed & she was having a seizure. I grabbed her up & held onto her. I was in full panic mode, as the vets office were closed by that time.
I got ahold of my friends & they took me to Dove Lewis, a 24 hr a day vet hospital. The Dr. there talked about hyperthyroidism, congestive heart failure, & cancer, and all the diagnostics that would need to be done. Never mind it’d be thousands of $!!!
She wanted me to euthanize her last night & I wasn’t about to!! I brought her home & she slept with me on my arm. Then at 3 am she had another seizure.
I got her calmed down after awhile. We went back to sleep, & made it thru the rest of the night. I called Diane & during our conversation she went into another seizure. I said to myself that’s it!! I called her regular vet & made the appointment to do the deed. It was the hardest decision I’ve had to make since 1991, when I had to put Fluffy to bed due to cancer. But I was more prepared for her as I was told she had a few months to live & she’d let me know when it was time. But this came on so suddenly I wasn’t prepared.
It’s gonna be a looooooooooong night tonight & an even longer weekend. No more kitty climbing all over me, no more kitty waking me up at the crack of dawn, No more kitty period!!
Before we left, I let her roam around the apt as a way for her to say goodbye. I noticed she went looking in places she normally didn’t. Looking for a dark place I think.
Well I better get off here.
      You take all.
      Love
      dd & Jewell

      DD,
I am so sorry to hear about Jewell. It makes my heart heavy and brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. I am sending out cyber hugs to you. I will also be praying that you find comfort from your pain. For what it’s worth here is what I have learned. Even though it tears us apart to lose our pet eventually we come to realize that we would rather have gone through the pain of loss then the pain of never having had them in our lives at all.
They are so precious and are a part of our family and we love them so-just as they love us unconditionally.
If it would be of any comfort, I think there are some on line sites that you can go to and write a tribute to your pet. I think my sister did that at one time.
We are thinking about you and hope to hear from you again soon.
      Hugs,
      Gail

      Hi Adele,
The Big Bang Theory was not cancelled. They had decided at the beginning of the year not to go forward with it as Jim Parsons wanted to move on to other things. It had a nice ending and the Young Sheldon show after it showed all of the Big Bang cast as kids in kind of a little tribute to it.
I suppose there will be a whole slew of new sitcoms in the fall to wend our way through.
I was just looking at an add for the Galaxy 10 the other day in a Best Buy circular. They are pricey right now. I think we both have 7’s. Since the company pays for our phones we can’t go too cuckoo crazy as little Susie Graver would say. lol You should see Greg do his imitation of Susan Graver twirling around-he has her pretty down pat. lol
He has the garden all planted. The last two years we have had a bad cucumber crop so I hope it’s better this year as Piper is a cucumber fanatic.
Your idea of just setting little goals for weight is a good one. My big downfall is my sweet tooth. I do love my cookies and cakes.
Brent is doing okay with his break up. He is enjoying setting up his new place. I sent him some stuff like towels and sheets and cookware from the Q used their bill to ship to and he was very glad to get all that. If we lived closer there is more that I could give him but some things are too big to ship. I sent him one of those Ninja roasters and he can bake, slow cook and everything in there so he really liked that as he could start something in the morning and have it be done when he got home from work. His big problem right now has been his back so he is getting shots again. The heart and stomach issues have kind of been put on the back burner. With all his health issues I worry what he will be like when he is 50.
We don’t have any plans for the weekend. Greg is over at the apartment fixing something there-I forgot what. I look forward to the day when we sell that place and he doesn’t have to maintain it anymore.
You know a couple of weeks back Jenny had this back patio door that just shattered. No one did anything to it all of a sudden it just broke into a million pieces. We all thought that was really weird.
My legs are feeling pretty good. I’m still having a little problem but I may have to go back for some more procedures on them. They called to schedule another ultrasound a couple of months ago when it was so cold and snowy and we were all sick-so now that the weather is better I should call and reschedule that.

      My sweet DD

I am so terribly sorry for the loss of our Quacker Kitty Jewell. She was not just your beautiful Jewell, you made her a part of all of us. We will all miss her, her pictures, and your funny stories about her.
There are no words we can say to make you hurt any less. You made the right decision to let her go,and not watch her suffer. Even so, it is an awful decision to have to make, and it just plain hurts.
You are always in my prayers, and now, even more so. Please let us know how you are. We are all here to support you, and always will. I know I speak for everyone when I say we will be praying for you to heal, and wait to hear how you are. Please do not forget we are here to help, in any way we can.
I am so sorry I did not read this earlier. I was so excited about seeing the sun, I sat outside from morning to just now.
We all love you! Sending prayers and hugs your way…

      Hey Gailster

I feel so awful for our DD. Way back in the day, I had a total of 4 cats. The kids were little when I got the first kitty. the kids were just about splitting the cat in half, so I went back and got another one. So,we had 2 cats, Fluffy and Duckie, for a while. Next came Nermal. he was the most adorable cat you ever saw- the owner was going around the neighborhood, with a basket full of kittens. I fell in love, and took one. The last cat was Morris, and Heather found him on the ball field in a box. I couldn’t send him back outside, so in he came.
One by one, they had to be put to sleep. I was always the one going for the infamous ride, and held them until they were gone. I said I would never get another animal, until I knew it would outlive me. And here we are.

Dam. I am so sorry I missed the last episode. I can google it. I do like young Sheldon, and I will have to watch that one too.

That was a good idea to send things from the Q to Brent. The Q is so convenient for all our needs. I bet he was thrilled when his packages arrived. I know I always am….LOL You are a good mom.

What is up with Jenny’s door? You know, I have seen a door ( or glass window) take a big hit, and then shatter later. Or, does Jenny think someone tried to break in? Or a manufacturer defect? I hope all is OK,and fixed. I bet Greg already has a new one installed.

the Galaxy 10 is the one I want, but I can wait. Sooner or later, it will be down to 10.00, or free. I have patience when it comes to price, and I do not need it now. That is the only thing I have patience for.

I would also be worried for Brent. We know how bad things can get with us, and how our bones have stopped us from what we want to do every day. His having issues so young would make me worry too. We can hope by then they will have invented some new procedures to make life easier for the old folks, like us. I hope he has an excellent spine doctor. The shots do work, and I hope they will work for him, for a long time.

Did I tell you Bobby has arthritis, and gout? he had a recent yearly exam, and he has to lose some weight, (don’t we all) and has a plan for his arthritis- medication for the swelling, and he will be seeing an orthopedic doctor- he has an arthritic one. He just turned 49. With all he does in is job, I knew this day was coming for him. I am praying it will not get too bad. We both worry about our kids with arthritic issues.

I hope your legs will not get worst. I hope your doctor has something to help, that will be easy, and work. It seems we have to continue treatment for vein/arthritic issues, as they just continue to rear their ugly little heads as we age. On the other hand, what we are dealing with is less than a lot of other people. that is how I try to look at it. I try to think of the people who lost a limb, or have MS, or one of those other awful debilitating diseases. Not that it makes me feel any better, it just gives me perspective.

On the positive side, the sin has been shining all day. It was 83 on our deck. All my neighbors are out in their yards, getting ready for good weather. I ordered a lot of perennials , to add to my garden, as I have some bare spots, and I hate to weed! Actually, I can’t weed….LOL Gary is off to Home Depot with my list of needed herbs. Heather is coming tomorrow, with Aizen, to help put them in the window boxes. I sent a text to my Minnions, saying when all gets delivered, I will need some planting help. I even got a Lemon tree, as the Q sent me a letter saying they cant honor the waitlist…..LOL yeah…..I went a little planting nuts today.
Hope your day was good, and the sun was out for you too.

      Hi Ladies,
Yes I’m back. I want to thank all of you for your kind words of condolence at this time. I keep looking for her around the house. Expecting her to walk out to the living room, looking for her food dish, etc. I’ve been doing some housework & stuff to keep moving. I packed up the rest of her food & will give it to Hallie for her kitties. It’s just so hard right now. Diane & Hallie took pics of me holding her in her last moments yesterday. I’m glad they did cuz I couldn’t have. I lost a big part of my soul yesterday.

I’ve got to rearrange the bedroom somehow so that it doesn’t remind me every time I go in. Right now I look over to where she’d be curled up asleep next to my bed. I look at the bed for her little paw prints where she’d jump down to the floor. She’s alllllll over this apt.
I’ve been watching a marathon of Andy Griffith/Barney Fife so far today. I have a ballgame later tonight to watch. And I hope to find some Tim Conway shows to watch. Especially the Carol Burnett show skits. He was HYSTERICALLY FUNNY!! Harvey couldn’t keep a straight face ever!
It’s raining right now. we’ve been in the 60s the past few days. More normal than 80s or 90!!
Let me know if you want me to keep including pics of her. I guess I’ll go for now.
      Take care
      dd
PS: Thank you again for all the love, hugs, support & kindness you’ve shown me today. thank you so much.

DD we will be here for you. It will take a long time until you no longer look for her. When we lost Lady our black lab I really had trouble coming home from work expecting to see her at the door wagging her tail. I cried many days. She was my side kick she knew if I was not feeling well & would stay by my side & when Mom died & I was sad she would lay her head on my lap to comfort me. So pets are family members with fur & we morn them too.
As far as posting photos I would do what is comfortable for you. If it makes it harder for you than I would not but if it gives you comfort we love seeing her. So do whatever is best for you.

      Hi Everybody,
If you miss a day you really get behind on here. There is a lot going on lately.
We had a really good time with Aliza the other day.She now sleeps in a bed so we got the roll away bed out and she liked sleeping on it. At first she told me that wasn’t her bed but one she got in it she went right to sleep. She is such a little character. We went grocery shopping and we told her if she was good would let her pick out a toy. She did really well. She is potty training but she really doesn’t like it. Some days she is really good and others she does not do well at all. It is an adventure. It will be nice to have her to stay again. I just hope she does better after a little while.
DD, You should post pictures of Jewel. Especially if it makes you feel better. I agree with Adele we all love Jewel and are really sad to her of her passing. We like to hear about her and how you are feeling. I am gad that you had some one to give Jewels food too. It is always good to find a place where they would appreciate it. I really liked to watch Tim Conway and Harvey do skits together. The Carol Burnett show was so good an it was so funny. They did so many funny skits on there. I loved the one where she is wearing the curtains on their take off Gone With the Wind.
Gail and Adele, I cannot believe that they are cancelling all these shows. I hope that they come up with better ones are some that are just as good. It seems like they always take the good ones that everyone like off the air. I wish they would not do that. Give these shows time to be seen by more people. Adele how is Heather? Did she have her surgery yet? Gail I am glad to that Brent is adjusting being on his own. That is so nice that you sent Brent all of those things to help set up his new household. You are a good mom.
Barbara, You had me smiling fro ear to ear when you were talking about the visit with your family. I can just see you with Colin and all the hugs you received and all that you gave. I am just so happy for you and Jerry. It sounds like all of you enjoyed yourselves. It is nice that your kids are not that far away now. It will be nice to be able to go ans visit Colin and the rest of the family. Grand kids really bring a family closer.
Well that is about all from here. I hope you all have a great night.

      Sweetest DD….
You post whatever pictures make you smile, or cry. We are here for you. We will love what ever you choose to post, as we always do.
I am like you. When I lose a loved one, I want everything different, to stop the hurt. It does not work. But, it keeps us busy, and that is the best to stop hurting. I think it is very gracious to give all your kitty supplies to your friend. But, before you do……will you get another kitty? Somehow i still feel it would be sad to see another new kitty to drink out of our Jewell’s bowl.
After my cat was gone, I swear that sometimes, out of the corner of my eye, I saw her walk under the table in the dining room. It is funny how our minds work to protect us.
I am glad you came back to post. I had this awful vision of you, all alone, so terribly sad. You need your supports when you are sad.
ITKWD is on. I will make you laugh (I hope) So, when he first came on, I changed the channel, and the TV told me they were having issues to try later. next, I talked into the remote- same message. Then, I changed the channel to one above, and manually changed to the Q- still same message. So, I say to Gary….did you call cable and eliminate the Q? No, he says. Then, Bobby yells from downstairs that he used the “parental controls” so I would stop all the boxes from coming to the house. LOL….it finally was available a little while ago. Thank God!
I forgot to tell you that I did love that cake from Davids cookies. Everyone loved it, so I ordered one for Memorial Day. Not good for a diet, I would say….LOL
I hope I made you chuckle. We all love you!!

      Sweetest Sue…
I am sorry you lost your beautiful black lab. I now know how wonderful a pet a black lab is because Marissa has Luna. the whole family loves her. They are a sweet dog, and have such good personalities.
You said some very nice things to DD, and I know she appreciates all the words we all say.
We are all lucky to have each other to talk to, for questions, support, and to be happy together. Although we have never seen each other, we are all good friends.
      Love you!

      Sweetest Colleen…..
We all ache for our DD, and her pretty Jewell. These endings are so sad. You know, as you just lost your dear Mom. I hope nothing bad happens to anyone else. Your words were very kind, and always are.
Heather goes for her surgery on Wednesday. She will spend the night here on Wednesday. I will make her chicken soup. I guess I think chicken soup solves everything.
Heather and Aizen were here today, and stayed for dinner. they were here to plant the herbs, but it had poured and everything was muddy. I will try to get them in tomorrow. As they are waist level, I should be ok. I will take my time.
Al came for dinner today too. He looks ok. He was a little pale, but has lost some weight, which is good for him. I think he got a kick out of Aizen, who cannot stay still, or stop talking for one second. He goes for dialysis every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
What a cute story about little Aliza. She must have been real tired. You and Ron pooped her out….LOL LOL I bet you all had a ball with her. I love spending time with the little ones. I am glad you had the tine with her. A small child heals our spirit.
the sun finally came out today- at the end of the day. OH well. there is always tomorrow…..I hope.
Hope you have a good night. Ill be watching the Red Line, and The Good Girls, all after 60 Minutes. I hate when they cancel shows we like.

      Hi Ladies,
It’s been a long day for me. I can’t muster up the energy to do much of anything today. I had a big crying jag earlier, not just tears, bellowing, almost
screaming. I used a towel to muffle it. I have a big hole in my chest right now.
thank you for all your kind words, support & above all your love. I’ll post pics of her, not all the time, but occasionally. I’ll try anyway.
I went over to Critt’s this afternoon & that helped a little. I sat & rattled off some of the things she’d do. Like if she got out in the hallway she’d head down to where Kay used to live. Both Critt, & Kay would take care of her when I got sprayed for bugs. Is funny I couldn’t think of why till just as I’m writing this. It had to be a reason we both couldn’t be in the apt. Memory’s going, lol.
I still haven’t rearranged the bedroom. Maybe tomorrow.

I’m sorry for anyone who has lost a beloved pet, or loved one! It’s so hard to accept they’re gone & never coming back. I don’t know how people cope with losing a child.
I can’t imagine it. I lost my mother in ’86 & it took me yrs to get to where I wasn’t grieving. It was actual physical pain for quite awhile. But I was 30 + yrs younger too.

Colleen, the skit you were thinking of Carol Burnett is wearing a green velvet dress with the curtain rods still in the curtains. Bob Mackie designed it.
I’ll post a pic from the show. It’s hilarious!
I better get off here, the computer is acting up
      Have a great week.

      Hi Adele,
Chicken soup does heal everything especially if it is made by your mom. That is how that it has always been. I am glad that Heather is going to stay with you after the surgery. She will need to be with her mom. I am glad to that you can be there for her.
Aliza is always an experience and fun. She is so stubborn and does not like to do things that she is supposed to. She wants things her way and most of the time when she is with us. It is probably the reason she is like that.
The sun has been shining here all day today. We are hoping that it will keep shining for the week. I am sick of rain. It does not have anywhere to go anymore. It is keeping us from getting our garden all planted. We needed to get our zucchini planted and I want to plant some green beans. Ron does not like to plant them but they are so good when they are fresh.
It will take DD time to get over her loss of Jewel. I am glad that she decided to stay on the site and go thru this alone. At least she has Critt around to help her also.
I will be saying an extra prayer for Heather on Wednesday. I hope things goes well for her. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
That was the seen that I was talking about. Thanks for posting the picture. That was just so funny. I really miss shows like that they were so funny and they did not use foul language. It was just fun to watch.
It is hard to get over the loss of a pet. They are like our kids. Jewel will be in heaven with our lost pets. Hope that they are all running and playing together. I always believe that is where my pets are and they are happy.
I am wondering if it is our computers that are acting up or this site. I have trouble on this site more the any other site I go on. I do not understand why it is such a problem on here.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I’m glad that you came back to post. I feel like everyone else. You should post whatever pictures that you feel comfortable posting.
The house does seem empty after we lose a pet. Even our friends thought it felt weird after there were no dogs in our house anymore.
That was a beautiful Americana quilt that you posted. I wonder why I am so attracted to quilts as I don’t remember having them growing up. I guess I appreciate the sewing talent so much. There is a woman on the q boards who makes one every winter and she posts the pictures. They are so beautiful. I can’t believe the work that she does. The same woman also posts pictures of her beautiful gardens. She is really talented.

      Hi Colleen,
It sounds like you had fun with Aliza. I like the way that she told you that the roll away bed was not her bed. Like you could just bring her bed from home over to your house. lol Little kids just don’t think about details like that. lol
It’s funny that you said she is potty training but doesn’t like it. Some kids just don’t like to take the time and stop what they’re doing to go.
      She sounds just so cute.
Kendall did her Girls on the Run 5K yesterday. That is such an accomplishment for those young girls to do that. I had been going over on Thursday to stay with Lachlan and Piper while they trained so that is now done for the year. I cannot believe it will already be Memorial Day weekend and we have not yet turned the heat off-although they are predicting 80 midweek so I will be putting the air on then. It has definitely been a cool spring. I see Saint Louis is to be 90 by midweek. So be prepared.
We do have the whole garden in but it’s much smaller than it used to be. That’s okay. As long as we have cukes, tomatoes and peppers and I can buy corn right down the road I am happy.

      Hi Adele,
I don’t think anyone tried to break into Jenny’s house as they were all home at the time so all they would have had to do would be to open the door and walk in. lol I don’t think we’ll ever know what caused it. The door is too big for Greg to fix but we did tell them who to call to take care of it.
Brent has gout too-and arthritis in his back which causes his problems among other things.
I am like you and am happy that I can deal with my issues. I am lucky that my RA is controlled pretty well with medication. I know other people who have it much worse than I do and are on tons of medication and shots or infusions-so I consider myself lucky. I think of my poor Dad who didn’t have access to some of the more modern RA medicines. I believe if he had he wouldn’t have died at 62.
I will be praying for Heather this week. It’s funny that you think chicken soup cures everything. lol I’m sure she is glad that you are there to pamper her a little.
Do you have any plans for Memorial Day? As far as I know we don’t have any.

      Hi DD
I am so glad you have Critt to talk to. A good friend is very helpful when you lost a loved one. I know he will miss Jewell too. All your friends loved her, and she was such a pretty, good natured kitty.

I know what cry you speak of. I have done those, usually in the shower. That is my cry place when things get real bad. It is good for the soul. A cleansing cry, I call that. A deep in your soul cry. One that you can move forward from, in time.

I remember that skit on Carol Burnett. i think it was a Gone With the Wind one?? It was hysterical.

I am saying a prayer for you every night, and hope a day comes soon when you can think of Jewell, and smile.
      Love you to pieces!

Hello. I have missed SO much of your news, health, family, life. So that makes me want to read everything ,but I know I just can’t right now. We are good. Joey, Lisa, and now Sarah and COlin are in NC with Neal. Today is his 34th birthday. Their furniture should be delivered today; and thats why Joey and Lisa are there to help with the set up. The move was so expensive from coast the coast; and they had to pay $$$ lots of their savings to taxes this year. We didn’t get to see the baby at all after Neal left for NC. Sarah is still Sarah, but that is all I will say for today. I have so many precious memories from the short time we were all together and can’t wait to see them again.
Sorry about your surgery Adele. SO many things have changed from our healthcare. Think the insurance companies have a lot more influence over our health than our doctorsOur doctor told us that he had to get permission to do any test before he can order it. I am so afraid that the older we get the less they will care about us; since we don’t have all the insurance coverage we used to have. BUt that is just how I feel, and I pray I am wrong..
We are doggie sitting while Joey and Lisa are gone. So we have to put Ruby on a least and walk her several times a day. She is sweet and loving but so very protective of us, and I don’t want anyone to walk up unexpectedly on us and have her bite them. I am so scared she will hurt us by pulling us down because she is srong, but it would be just a quick reaction from her that she won’t do unless someone comes up.
I will close and try to catch up some. Please know that you are all on my mind and I have lots to share. Hope to write more later today. Hugs, Barb

      Hi Gail,
We are not doing much for Memorial Day either. I think that we are going to grill for just us and then sit around and relax. It will be nice to have a week-end where we have nothing to do.
That would be interesting if we brought Aliza’s bed here with us all the time. We would have to have a truck to bring her to the house. Could you imagine having to do that. We would never have her over to spend the night with us.
That is so great that Kendall did the walk. Did she do the whole 5k. She is really getting to be a young lady. It is interesting to watch them grow and see all the changes. My oldest grand turned 20 this month. It seems like it was just the other day when they were bringing her home from the hospital. I am feeling old today. All my grands are getting so much older. They need to slow down.
Ron finished putting all of the garden in that he is going to do. Ours is going to be so much smaller this year like yours. I am going to plant some green beans in a tub so I do not have to bend down to pick the beans. How did your asparagus do this year? we did not get hardly get any at all. It was aggravating Maybe next year it will be better.
That was weird the glass on her door just shattered like that. It is just lucky that no one got hurt. That could have been a mess. Some times I think there are Angels watching over us all the time.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I would imagine that Kylie and Brook are busy all the time at their ages. When they moved is their new house very far away?
Adam’s older daughter Gabby has been living out in Washington state with his sister and the other daughter Enya lives with him part time and his parents part time. She will graduate this year and am not sure what she will do next. I know she is not interested in college but maybe something like culinary school as she is interested in baking. Of course now she has a boyfriend so I’m sure he figures into her plans too.
Actually, Kendall runs the 5k-I believe Adam runs it with her. Jenny can’t do it since she is the coach for this.
When the window broke it was a thermo pane door so just the outside glass broke since those windows are two pieces of glass with the air in the middle. I’m glad it was the outside piece as that made it easier to clean up. I think the boyfriend cleaned it up for her which was nice. All those little pieces of glass!
      Yikes!
Our asparagus has been pretty good. We haven’t even eaten any yet but I saw Greg took a box into work the other day. It all froze the weekend that we had the snow this spring but it seems to have come back okay.
I think Adele put in a few plants. she should have some to eat by next spring. it does take a few years for the plants to take off.

      Hi Barbara,
Tell Neal Happy Birthday. I hope he gets some time to settle in before he starts his new job.
I wish Sarah could put herself in your shoes and realized how much you missed Collin and given you some extra time with him after Neal left. It sounds like she won’t change though.
I do agree with you and often feel that the insurance companies now run the doctors. In fact it’s one of my pet peeves and a topic likely to get me up on a soapbox. (I wonder where that term comes from-now I will have to Google it.) The only thing is-if they deny us care and then we die they won’t get their insurance premiums from us so it is in their best interest to keep us alive and paying. How’s that for cynical? lol
I hope you are not getting that rough weather. There have been some bad storms throughout the south recently.

      Hey Colleen
Oh yes, they even made books about that…”Chicken Soup for the Soul.” LOL
Thank you for your prayers. Heather said she is going to sleep here tonight too, so she will not be late. She is awful in the morning, and she has to be there at 8:00.
The little ones are so funny. With that said, we are getting a new Itty Bitty. Marissa is pregnant. Everyone is thrilled, and Marissa is acting like a beast. She has an attitude to beat the band, so I am predicting a girl….LOL LOL Enzo is beyond thrilled, and cannot leave her side for more than a minute. How funny is that??
I got the 7 window boxes on the deck planted yesterday. It was 100 on the deck, and between the sun and the arm, I was feeling awful. I do not think I drank enough out there- I was out there for 3 hours. I had 3 glasses of water, but I did not have to pee for 5 hours, and that is not me. So, I had a banana, and then some potato chips ( they are low salt and have potassium, I thought). I knew I was not feeling good- nauseous, could not walk right, and definitely could not eat. I decided to have some Ginger Ale, after 2 more glasses of water, and then finally started to feel a little better. I got in the shower around 5, and was able to eat at 7- had a bowl of cereal, with nice cold milk. I am better today, accept for the soreness from the neck to my elbow. I guess even though I took my time, it was a little too much….and, I had the awning out all the way to sit under between plantings, with a glass of water! I think the heat played a huge part in how I felt.
So, I decided the Minnions will have to do the plantings in the pots on the patio. I have not done them in years, and wanted to get them looking pretty again.
When do you get Aliza again? I hope soon, as she is a lot of fun.
Also hoping you were not in the tornado areas of yesterday.
Hope your sun is shining. It is shining here, and a lot cooler. I have the windows open- so nice to smell the fresh air.

      Hey Gailster!
No real plans yet for Memorial Day, accept eat cake. LOL I am not sure who is working, and who is not. I suppose we will BBQ.
Read the post to Colleen for all info. I did a number on myself yesterday- even had sun burned arms and face. I would say that yesterday was definitely not ” learning to live with my arm limitations”. It was more like….I can do this…just watch me…..LOL
It was so bad yesterday, and today, I made an appointment with my back doctor. I want to see if some of this pain that goes from behind the ear, tot he elbow,is form my neck. I guess I am hoping the ear to the collar bone, is the neck, and we can do something about it. That area hurts more today than from the shoulder to the elbow. We will see.
I also think the making of chicken soup keeps me busy when I am worried about someone, so that is a piece of it too. Tillie always made soup, every time someone was sick. All the time…must be a German thing.
I finally took out the 2 bunnies with lanterns to put outside. they are on the table, as I have to put them on at 6:00 pm, as they are timed.
Poor Brent. Not only his heart, but the arthritis too. That kid just cannot catch a break. I guess our kids are getting old enough to deal with these dam issues.
Marissa is pregnant!!!! Everyone is thrilled. The news is official today, on my Dad’s birthday. I thought that was a sign from Heaven today.
Hope the sun is shining for you- also hope you were spared form the tornado warnings. Just awful.

      Hey Barbara!
What kind of dog are you caring for? I would assume a large one, from what you are saying.
With that said, I wonder what Luna will do when Marissa’s baby is born. Luna is so protective of Marissa. It will be finny to watch. I am thinking Luna will be as protective of the baby. But,I never had a dog, so I am just assuming.
I can’t wait to hear the stories about Colin. How old is he now? do you think you can go to their house to visit for his birthday this year, and Christmas? That would be so nice for all of you. Or, maybe they will come your way for a few days around the holidays. even better!
I am hoping you did not get any of those awful storms. We got a couple of thunderstorms, but, nothing bad.
Please read my post to Colleen for all the news of the day.

Gailster…. just read the post to Colleen about the door.
I did not realize it was an exterior door. I thought it was the screen door. A few years ago, on a very cold night, I had a window crack that has the gas in between. It did that in the middle of the night, for no reason, as it was snowy and there were no footprints outside to indicate someone threw something on the window. Was it a cold night? just wondering.

      Hi Adele,
I will be praying for Heather today. It’s amazing that what once would have been a few day hospital stay is now out patient surgery basically.
Congrats to Marissa and Enzo. To stick in my two sense-how is Luna around Aizen and JJ? If she is good around the other kids she will probably be fine around the baby and may even be his or her little protector.
I think you probably gave yourself something like heat stroke or heat (there’s another name for it but can’t think of it right now) When you are drinking a lot but don’t pee it’s because your body is hanging onto those liquids in case it needs to cool you down with perspiration-and then when you get really overheated you even stop perspiring. I did something similar to myself several years ago and it scared the heck out of me-so now I always have water with me in the summer and just don’t stay out side in the heat for too long. It may have helped you to take a cool shower to try and get your body cooled down or at least put a lot of cool water on your head. You definitely over did it out in the heat.
I’m glad you are better now.
Those colorful cakes are nice. We had the one for Easter and even though the red white and blue one is pretty we are not having any people around this weekend to help us eat it so it would go to waste. I think the kids will be with Adam this weekend. He took this week off. I told Jenny (I don’t want to micromanage things-lol) but wouldn’t it have made more sense for him to wait until the kids were out of school for the summer. Then he could have them all day and also solve a week of child care issues all in the same shot.
The door broke in the day time and it was not cold at all. It’s just one of those weird things and we’ll never know why.
We have been lucky as the bad storms and tornadoes have been to the south.
We really have no plans for the weekend but I have to think of something otherwise Greg will just spend all weekend working out doors. Since we are not getting our normal June trip to KC I will have to find other things to do as he just doesn’t take a lot of time out for fun.
Next weekend is Milk Days and I think on that Friday Greg has the ONP golf outing. The weekend after that one of his friends is having a big house warming party at the place they moved into after they down sized. Actually, they sold the big house, got a camper, traveled around for several months and then came back home and got a smaller house.
Yesterday it was in the fifties and today it’s supposed to be eighty. Go figure.

      Hi Gail,
It is odd not having the girls around to talk to. Kylie got a job cooking at a restaurant. It should be interesting to see how she does. She never was much of a cook. She works at a Huddle House. I do not know if they have those restaurants in your area or not.
Is Enya the one that won at the fair for the cake she baked? She will probably do really well if she goes to culinary school. It would be nice if she became a chef or a baker. Bake goods are always a good seller. It is interesting to see what they will do with their lives. They have their whole lives in front of them.
That was nice that Jenny’s boyfriend cleaned up the glass. At least there is more glass there so it is not cold in the house. I really do not like the double pain windows doors or windows. They are hard to clean the dirt gets in between the glass and there is no way you can clean them. I do not think that mine ever look clean. We only have the one and it is our picture window.
I wish that our asparagus would grow more but we have had too much rain and it stopped them from growing. We may have to plant some new plants and that will take a while for it to grow.
That was cool that Kendall and her dad ran together. That has to be a special day for both of them. It is so nice that Adam would do that with her.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
The books are nice but it is not like a bowl of mom’s chicken soup. I hope that everything went well for Heather today. She is at your house by now and resting. She will rest really good because she is with her mom.
That is so cute that Enzo is staying so close to Marissa. It is really nice that he is just excited about the baby as she is. It will be nice to find out what it is going to be. How far along do they have to be before they can tell you if it is a girl or a boy. Is she going to try and find out? We always had to be surprised when my first two were born but when my youngest was born they were doing the test.
You have to be really careful when you are out in the sun. I have to wear a hat now because i got sick from being out in the sun. The doctor said that I came close to having a heat stroke. S I wear a hat and take water with me. You probably need to do the same. You were out in the sun for a long time. You have to be careful and to be in pain like that is hard also. You just need to be careful and take care of yourself.
We were not in the path of the tornadoes. We are supposed to have more storms this week. I am really hoping that they are wrong If we have to have rain hopefully that is all it will be. We have all the veggies in the ground that we are going to plant this year. It will be nice when we can start picking the veggies.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I’m back. It’s been a very rough week for me!!! It started on Monday & got worse. The crematorium was supposed to call me about Jewell, but no call came. So I got the # from the vet & they confirmed that they were gonna call me. In the meantime I got on Google & looked up the place. I now wish I hadn’t done that. On the website it states they’ll cut off some of the fur so you can have it as remembrance. Also get a paw print & other things that I couldn’t afford. Well, Monday came & went, no call. So Tues. morning I call them & to my horror they had already cremated her on Monday!!! Without notifying me first. When he said that I screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Oh God, noooooooooooo!!!!!! It felt like someone shot me in the chest!!! When I confronted him about calling me he said he did call on May 18th, Sat., but no calls came in on Sat. I went back & checked all the calls & there was no calls for Sat.!!! Either, they dialed a one digit wrong or they’re covering up their mistake. I called back & told them I didn’t have a record of any phone calls for that day. All they could say is “We’re so sorry.” But there is a little light(?). They’ll transport her back to her vet. They put her in an urn so I have that.
I’m still looking for her to come around the corner from the bedroom, looking for food. Or looking for her on the bed. She’d sit there waiting for me to call her out here. I’d tell her “come on.” & I’d pat my thigh & that was our signals. Or I’d pat the bed or the sofa for her to come on up. Sometimes she’d come right away or she’d sit in front of me & come when she got good & ready!! Typical cat!!! I’m miss her soooooooooooo much!!! The place is soooooo empty!!
I called my Dr. Monday, to see if I could get in to see him, but he was leaving town so the advice nurse took my info. She said she’d get back to me but didn’t. Later on the pharmacy called me saying 2 scripts were ready for pickup.
Then today I got a call from the Dr. office from a psychologist, who my Dr. referred me to him. I have an appointment to see him tomorrow afternoon. He’s supposed to help me with coping with the grief. We’ll see what he has to say.

By the way, I;m SICK of turning on the heat myself. It’s been down right cold for this time of yr. We had that heatwave awhile back then went back to what felt like late winter. I’d already taken off my heavy blanket & packed it away. I remember before the construction here we had steam heat & it’d be turned off late April or early May. and they wouldn’t turn it back on till fall. But they’re saying we’re warming up & could see 80 on Sunday & upper 70s for Memorial Day. Kinda unusual, but we’ll take it. One yr we had such a bad weekend it almost snowed in the mts!!! I watched as the water swirled down the street cuz it was coming down so hard. There was debris in the street the next morning from the trees & the swirling water. So much for the beginning of summer, the unofficial start of summer.
Well, I’m all talked out. If you hear a LOUD scream or bellow, it’s just me when I go get the urn. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.
      Have a great holiday weekend.

      Hi Colleen,
I think maybe Enya won a ribbon for cake decorating. Kendall has too. I’m not sure what she is doing for the fair this year. Somehow it seems that there was talk of showing an animal. I’ll have to ask Jenny.
We do not have Huddle Houses around here. I have seen them when we have traveled though.
Missouri got hit by a bad tornado again. I’m trying to picture where Jefferson City is-it seems like we may have passed through there going somewhere. I will have to look on the map. I hope we will all be safe from storms this weekend-as they are predicted for the next several days.
Last night there was a frog or toad or something croaking right outside our back deck door. It sounded like it was inside the house. I went over and turned on the light and banged on the door and it still wouldn’t stop. Finally I opened the door and it either stopped or went away. I couldn’t see anything on the deck so it must have been under the deck right up next to the house. Normally the sound doesn’t bother me coming in from the pond but this was so close and so loud. I was just praying that it wouldn’t hop inside somehow when I opened the door, even though I couldn’t actually see it anywhere. lol
How are you guys coming with cleaning out your Mom’s house. Are you still working on it or taking a break so it does not become overwhelming.

      DD,
I hope the psychologist will be able to help you in coping with your loss. It does take awhile before we stop seeing our pets around every corner.
I actually felt comforted receiving our pet’s ashes. Of course it makes you cry a bit at first but then it is just nice knowing they are there.
Abby was the first pet we had cremated and I had every intention of burying her ashes out in our little pet cemetery with the other deceased pets. However, I found that I wasn’t quite willing to part with them so I kept them on a shelf-now I have Rocky,Abby and Belle all on a shelf on the living room entertainment center. No one even knows they are there as there are photographs in front of them. I also have a little box up there that contains each of their hair clippings. They never made a print of Abby’s paw but they did for the other two so I have them in my secretary curio on little plate stands. I also have their collars and tags on this sculpture that I have of a woman sitting reading a book with a dog at her feet which was how Abby and I often sat. I am not sentimental much-am I?
In any case, you know we are all here to listen and to talk to any time that you feel like it.
Our weather has warmed up but there is the possibility of rain for most of the weekend.

      Hi Gail,
I think that Jefferson city is out Branson way. So you may have seen it or signs when you went there if you drove. I hope that I did not get it mixed up. I am not good with directions.
That is one thing that I like about winter we do not have all the bad thunderstorms.I would much rather put up with the snow. The storms are going to be around here part of the week-end here also.
We have had frogs get in the house here when the kids are here. They either leave the door open or they bring them in to play with. Just like the lizards. I am so glad that they are all over that stage I do not think that Aliza will chase them she is not that interested. She really likes to play with the dogs. That makes it nice they won’t come in the house so that is never a problem.
We are getting close to being done. We have the living room, the rest of the kitchen and the rest of the basement. Then we have to have the carpets cleaned and paint the house. My brother knows some one to paint so we will not have to. I am all for that.
I think that I read that your cardinal is gone. I hope so. Now the frog is going to take it’s place. At least it is not jumping into the windows and the door. lol
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I can understand why you would be upset with the place that creamated Jewel. It is not right that they did that. It is nice that at least they are going to put her ashes in an urn and getting them to you. It is good that you are going to go and get grief therapy. It will help you a lot. It is hard to lose a pet that has been with you for so long. So many people go thru this.
This weather has really been weird. It was like that here for awhile but I think that it is done cooling down enough to put the heat on. At least we are hoping so. You never know how to dress.
I hope that you come on here and vent whenever you feel like screaming. We all have times like that and it is good to know that we have friends here that understand and will listen. I would have screamed if they would have done that to one of my pets.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I hope the frog hasn’t replaced the cardinal. lol We have lots of frogs and toads around the pond. They do get pretty noisy at night but it normally doesn’t bother me but this one must have been right up against the house.
I remember when my Mom lived in Florida and there were those little chameleons all over the place. Sometimes one would get into the house. the kids loved those little things.
Did you ever get a bird in your house. I always used to have wreaths on both the inside and outside of the doors for all the different seasons. Well one time a bird was living in the outdoor wreath on the upstairs porch and when someone opened the door the bird got in the house. It took us the longest time to get it back out-we were chasing it all over the place and every time it would take off from it’s perch I would scream and duck as the flapping wings kind of freak me out. So then Greg was getting ticked at me as I was trying to help but not being very helpful. We should have had movies as it would have been like a slapstick comedy. lol We did finally get it out after I don’t know how long. Later when I was telling Kim about it she said we could have thrown like a towel or a blanket over it and it probably would not move and we could have picked the whole towel up and taken it back outdoors that way. Well Duh! Didn’t we feel stupid. She had birds as pets so she knew what to do. I wish I would have thought to call her as it would have saved us a lot of aggravation.
Yes at our ages it’s good to hire someone to do the painting. We wouldn’t attempt to do that stuff anymore.
I hope everyone will be safe from the storms this weekend.

I would much rather have a bird in the house than a bat. We had both when I was growing up. The bat freaked me out. I remember Mom & Grandma saying to cover your head & she was trying to use a broom to guide it back outside. That would have been funny looking back but not at the time.
I think I would have liked your frog better than the hail we had last evening during a bad thunderstorm. It was so loud hitting the house. At first I was wondering what it was but then I knew it was hail. I did not want to open the door & look out or I would have been pelted with it. I did look out after and the ground was white with it.

Ah yes-I forgot about the bats. I remember my Dad chasing a bat with a tennis racket up in northern Minnesota.
I also remember when Greg used to go to summer camp for the army reserves up by LaCrosse Wisconsin. I would drive up if he had a weekend off and we would stay down town. Well at that time there was a mayfly hatch and they are all over the place on the streets and sidewalks-everywhere-and then if you go out at night the bats come out to eat the mayflies and they are flying all around all over the place. It was interesting.
I hope no one’s cars got dented from the hail. There is some wild weather coming through for the rest of the weekend. So far this morning we have had rain-sun and now it’s going to rain again.

Heather was here the past few days and went home today. She always sleeps better here, so she got a lot of rest, and that is good. I will miss her….LOL
She goes back to the doctor Friday of next week, to see if he o got all the cells, and get the results of the pathology testing.
I hope you can get Greg inside for some holiday fun this weekend. Too bad the kids are with their Dad, or you would have done a bbq, I bet. Will just the two of you do a bbq? I cant imagine a memorial Day without one….LOL
I know you love the ONP event. I hope Greg does well in his golf with them! Also hope you all have a great time at Milk Days. Will any of the kids be in it this year? Didn’t one of them have the Princess role last year?? They are so adorable, they should be in it every year.
It has been sunny and cloudy the past 2 days. We had thunderstorms last night, but nothing too severe. It has been overcast all afternoon, and I think we will have rain tonight. All the plants have been delivered for the garden. I hope Amanda will be by this weekend. She will be working most of it, so not sure. if not, there is always next week!
Gary put the furniture out, and the bird bath has a crack in it’s base. It fell over shortly after he put it out. I just got that one 2 years ago. Dam. I have to find one that will not crack……LOL
hope your day is going well.

I am trying to catch up on posts. i got behind while Heather was here.
I am so glad you did not get any tornadoes.
Did you see Mario Batalli was in Boston being charged with sexually assaulting a woman?? I am so upset about him. I liked him, and The Chew, and now they are gone forever, all due to his gross behavior. Seriously?? I wish they would bring back the show, with another chef.
My plants are in a wheelbarrow, waiting for Minnions….LOL even a Meyer Lemon tree.
It is going to be very cool tonight. better tomorrow, I hope. Rain tonight too.
      hope your day went well.

      Hey DD!
I am so sorry for what happened at the crematory. That is just not acceptable. I wish I could give you a hug. You need a hug. I wish I had something to say, to make you smile. Unfortunately, everything in your home will remind you of your pretty kitty.
I think it is a good idea to talk to someone about your grief. Grief can do a number on people. I do not want to see you slip into a depression. That is what I am afraid of for my friend Winnie’s sister, Joanne. She is having a real hard time.
I will attach a pic of my Wisteria bush. Gary hates it, and he has tried to kill it for years- it just keeps getting bigger. I hope that will make you chuckle.
We have had the heat on too. The last 2 days, Tillie had it on downstairs, but we did not up here. that may change tonight, as it is supposed to be very chilly tonight.
I hope you get some nice sun, and get a chance to sit outside. Is your complex having any memorial day celebrations? If not, will you spend some time with Critt, I hope? I hate to think of you alone, and missing your kitty. It breaks my heart. You are in my prayers every night.
      Love you!

      Hi Ladies,
I’ve been trying to send you guys a pic of a kitty that came up on Instagram this morning. She’s a calico, 7 yrs old & is looking for a home without other cats, & is an indoor only cat. She looks nothing like Jewell but her bio resembles J. Maybe it’s too soon for me to think about getting another kitty, but I can’t stand the emptiness in my heart & apt without Jewell. It was a week ago today that part of my soul left me with her. I don’t know where people come up with names for their pets, but her name is Leeloo. I’d call her Lulu. Is it too soon to bring a new kitty here? I know friends are concerned for me right now, being all alone. I can’t talk about her without breaking down & dissolving into tears.
I got a chuckle from the frog. Growing up we had a frog under the house & we could hear him croaking. I think he was right my bedroom floor. I never did see him. We named him George. At least he can’t fly into your windows. To be honest I miss hearing the sounds of nature. All I hear are sirens, cars, motorcycles racing on the freeway. Once in awhile I hear birds, but not as much anymore.
I’m still turning on the heat in the AM. We’re in the 50s today. Downright chilly or cold!! I can’t believe some places are still getting SNOW this late!!
And those poor people whose homes were shredded to toothpicks!! So terrible.
Well, I can’t think of anymore to say. Have a great weekend!

Hello friends. Hot and very muggy here. Adele, please don’t do the “I know I can do this and I will do this” thing again. We all must be really careful in the heat. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke come on quickly and keeping cool and hydrated with water is so important in the hot weather; even when you are not doing anything physical. Sometimes, in fact, most of the time, I find myself getting so frustrated that what used to be so simple is now like climbing a mountain. I get embarassed that I can’t do most things, but if I push myself then I pay for it. And Jerry is even worse. Guess it’s the man thing. But I guess mine is just not wanting to have to admit to myself or others that I am 70, and that even other 70 year old women are able to do what I am trying to do, I just can’t. We had our doctor visit yesterday, and when Jerry was talking to him about medical marijuana, and how he felt of it; he gave us his what I really think, honest opinion. He said, “I don’t have enough research information of long term use to feel safe in prescribing it right now; but I will definitely keep watching what is being said, and write you a prescription if I am more convinced it will be safe for you”. He said he is 60, and he is having a really hard time admitting to himself that he has to pace himself now, and how his life is changing. He held my hand, touched Jerry on the shoulder, and we both left feeling like he would do the best he could for us. Jerry told him adamantly that he did not want to go to any stronger meds than he is on. I think he respects Jerry for this. I am so sorry your shoulder is hurting you so badly Adelle. Please take care. I am glad that Heather is doing well. But she had a great nurse. Try to encourage her to please take things slowly. So proud of the happy baby news. I bet that Aizen and Enzo will be such good help with the baby. Mabey Aizen will be the big brother whose job is to run get the diaper/cream etc. or rinses off the baby at bath time. We gave Joey little jobs like that to help him get used to a wee one. Luna will probably be just as protective of the baby as she is of it’s Mommy. Such wonderful exciting times for you all.
Gail, Joeys dog Ruby is mostly pit bull some bulldog, and loves us and is so sweet. She was one day away from being euthanized at the shelter because of her breed no one would adopt her, but Lisa picked her out and home she came. She is such a devoted dog, and we love her and she is really not a hard puppy dog to care for. We just have to always have a halter type leash on her when we take her out during the day in case some one just drives up and we are not expecting it. We think all she would do is bark, but can’t take a chance. She lays between Jerry and I at night (Joey calls her their touch police). lol She plays with Auto Kitty, and has not ever tried to hurt him. In fact; Auto Kitty trys to get her to chase him so Ruby gets fussed at by Joey. Joey loves him so much too; and Auto has a devilish side to him lol They are great friends though. Can you imagine, a pit bull and a kitty sleeping right next to one another? We have a menagerie of furry friends here.
DD, I am so sorry about the communication mixup with Jewell. I think if the kitty you saw touched your heart then you will know what to do. It is so very hard to move forward when you are hurting, but so many many little animals need a loving home, and your little Jewell would be happy for you to find some peace and love with another fur baby. So hope you are able to make the decision that helps you and them. Will you be spending time with your friend Critt this Memorial Day? We don’t have special plans. We sort of are taking each day as it comes here lately.
Little Colin will be 3 in August. He is just the most wonderful little man. Poor Neal had only 4 days from the day he moved to Ashville until he began his new job. He will be in class for two weeks, and then he will begin his job working at the tower soon. To be honest, I really don’t understand so much of it. I know that Joey and Lisa was there while he was at work to help the movers bring in the furniture, boxes, etc. and set up their TV and things that men know about in all those electronic devices the young people have. Poor Joey and Lisa were so exhausted when they drove in late yesterday. They watched Colin for two of the days they spent there so Sarah could go doing interviews at several hospitals. To say the least; they did so much to help. We have left J and L alone today. I know they need rest. So we will plan something tomorrow.
It is pizza night for us tonight. Too hot to cook anything. Colleen, those storms have been so terrible. I hope you do have a quiet peaceful weekend. It seems that sometimes we just go and go and just need a good rest. I pray for all those affected/so happy it didn’t hurt you or your family. Take care.
So sorry Brent is having problems, physical and girlfriend. Bless his heart, he needs a break. I know you and husband worry. Our children don’t ever get to old for us not to. I pray for him to get better soon. Wish he would find someone wonderful to feel that emply spot in his heart. Brent needs someone to help him, and a good woman I think would. Just me thinking.
Sue, what is any plans do you have for the weekend? Are you getting together with friends? Hope you have some good plans. Did your rain finally stop?
Take care everyone. Thank God for all the military and their families and for those who gave their life for our freedom. Have a wonderful weekend to you all. Barbara

      Hi Ladies,
I’m back. I went back & read some of the posts I overlooked. Adele, doesn’t your husband realize that cutting on the Wisteria, that it makes it GROW??!! Whenever you cut something back, it promotes growth. Stimulates, I should say. Besides, Wisteria is hard to kill from what I’ve heard. I’ve never had it but I knew people who did. It’s beautiful tho.
Did I tell ya what I think happened with the miscommunication? I think they called the wrong #. I called the vet to find out if they had Jewell yesterday. She said she’d check & call me back. Well, I waited & waited but no call came. I called back & the first think she said, “Didn’t you get my voicemail?” I said no call came thru,& no voicemail. So, we checked to make sure they had the right #. My # ends in numbers close together & I think they hit or reverse 2 #s. Meaning I don’t get the calls. That’s the only thing I can think of. You know how fast kids type on the phones & I’ll bet anything the last #s were wrong. The # they had was correct at both the vet & crematorium.
I’m so glad I was able to have Jewell with me that night she slept with me. I held her all the next day, too and at the vet. I talked to her, petted her, kissed her head. So the last one she heard was my voice. and I was the one she could smell as I held her. That’s a comfort to me. I had another crying jag this afternoon. It hits me when I least expect it.
I’m gonna try & put up my tropical pics on the walls this weekend. I have some out but not all of it.
      I’ll close for now.
      Talk to ya later.

      Hi Gail
We have a bird in the house. We shut all the doors in the house and kept it trapped in one room. So it was easier to get it to go outside. I never thought about throwing a towel over it and getting it out. We have never had a bat in the house. Thank God for that I do not like those things.
Chameleons are just like a lizard if I remember what they look like. They also change colors don’t they? I would like them in the house either. All these creepy things get in the house.
That is so funny about you and Greg chasing the bird and you screaming everytime it got close. I would do the same. Just the thought of them getting too close.
Yesterday was not a good day. Our nephew and his wife’s house burnt. Our nephew is in the hospital with respitory problems. They have a breathing down his throat. We will have to see how he does. His wife was not home when the fire started and he was sleeping. He smelled the smoke and he got out but then ha kept going back in. I guess that he was trying to save some of their things. He should never have done that. So please say a prayer for him.

      Hey Barbara!
Aizen and JJ are brothers- Steph and Jhonny the parents. Enzo and Marissa are the parents of the new Itty Bitty…..LOL We have way too many names to remember everyone.
So, it is pizza night here too. Gary is having chicken fingers with fries, of course. I wanted to have the leftover soup, but he did not want it. So, take out it is.
We are not sure what we are having the next 2 days, as Bobby says he will BBQ. I do not think anyone is coming over accept Heather. Amanda is working, and the rest have plans with younger people. I know we are having corn, and roasted zucchini with whatever meat Bobby decides. We will probably do the “potato packets” on the grill too. Keeping ti simple. For dessert, it is the patriotic cake…..got another one from the Q, as the rainbow cake was so delicious.
I know what you mean. I cannot even stand to be in the sun. It makes me sick to my stomach. Amanda was here planting, and she did all the plants that came so far. (I stayed on the deck in the shade, and answered the questions she had on what to put where) She said we need a few more- and I agree. So, I ordered 4 more perennials- small ones to fill int he spaces, so nobody has to weed. One plant she loved, sow e ordered another of that one too. the small ones for the containers on the deck have not arrived- they are those hard leaf ones- Jade, Hens and Chicks, etc. I am hoping they will make it through the winter, so they will not have to be replaced.
The should er is ok again. It has it’s moments. I am going to see my back doctor, as I am still thinking all this neck pain is the spine, not the shoulder. That is next week.
I am so glad your Itty Bitty is closer to you. You raised good men. they help each other, and are close. That’s a wonderful thing.
We got an East wind off the ocean, and i have to close some windows as the breeze is really chilly. It is feeling more like soup weather right now….LOL
Have a good night. I hope Jerry’s back is feeling better. there are a lot fo people who swear by the CBD oil- they ran a show on it up here a few nights ago.

      Hey DD
I love the beautiful serene pictures you posted. I am sorry you are so sad. With your beautiful kitty gone, how could you be anything else, but sad? I am praying that every day gets a tiny bit better for you. I am sending a big hug your way!
Oh yes, I told Gary that several times. The more you cut, the bigger it will get. he did not listen. he was convinced he was killing it. Funny thing is, there is a new piece that is growing on the other side of the fence too- hoe funny is that? we will end up with 2 of those bushes.
I am hoping with all the errors in communication with you about Jewell, that they will refund some of your money. Not that it would make you feel any better. It would least acknowledge their error, and your grief.
Will you be spending any time with Critt, or with your other friends this weekend? I hope you will not be alone all weekend, so you will not feel so sad. Hallmark is having a movie marathon. if you are like us, you probably saw all of them. Even so, they are always nice movies, with happy endings.
I know you did your best to make Jewell comfortable, right to the end. You are such a good Pet Mother. Jewell was lucky to have you.
I hope you have a good night.

      Hi Colleen
That is awful about your nephew. Thank God he is alive. I hope he will have a full recovery from the smoke inhalation. Smoke from a fire is so bad for everyone. All the chemicals in furniture make it such a hazard. I am so sorry for them. Is the house completely gone? Would they be bale to take things from your Mom’s house ? I can’t imagine what anyone would do after such a horrific event. I will add a prayer for them. Keep us in the loop on their progress. How is your nephew today?
Did you know the Italians feel a bird coming into a house is bad luck? Don’t worry, as the bad luck already happened to your nephew.
did you hear about the woman who was lost in the woods in Hawaii was found after 2 weeks- alive? That’s a miracle. Her family must be thrilled. A nice story for today.
I hope you and Ron have a good night. Also hope your nephew is better. That is just horrible.

I had a nice surprise today. I had to run to the dollar store for some things & I ran in to my neighbor. She ask me if I liked pasta salad & I said I did. She said she made a big bowl so she brought me some. I had to taste it & it is very good. I will have some tomorrow & some Monday with my burger.
They are calling for storms tonight & tomorrow night but Monday is to be nice & dry.

      Hi Adele,
It was really sad to hear about my nephew. We have not heard anything from them today. We have not been there because they do not want him to get to excited. When he notices that some one is in the room he tries to pull the breathing tube out.So we did not go up there today do not want to cause problems. There are so many people there right now because he comes from a big family. They have a lot of aunts ,uncles and cousins. So they all will be running in and out.
We are coming to the end of it now and there is not that much left. Most of the things that are still in the house are spoken for. I am sure that they will have a fund raiser for them and they will get a lott of things that they need.
Your chicken soup looks really good. Heather probably wanted to stay so she could eat the soup. lol How is she feeling now? After they put you out like that it takes awhile to get back to normal. It just makes you feel tired.
I cannot believe that Mario is still sexually harassing women. I wonder about his poor family. I have not heard too much about them and I just hope they are okay. You would think that he would behave himself and stay out of the lime light. It must be a sickness for him he needs to get helped. Drinking is never an excuse for acting that way. I really miss the Chew also. That was such a good show.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I agree with Adele. If you want to get another you should go for it. No one can tell you if you are ready for one or not. Just do what you feel is right for you to do.
That was really special that you held Jewel all that time. She knew you were there with her and that was good. We had to have a dog put to sleep a long time ago and I could not stay with him and I have never forgiven myself. So that was a smart thing to do.
You still find the most relaxing pictures to post on here. They are always so pretty. It is nice of to post them to cheer us up.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
I cannot believe that Colin will be three in August. Aliza turned 3 in January so they are really close to the same age. I had not realized that before. They are 8 months apart. You are really going to have a good time with him. He is getting old enough to be a lot of fun and do more things with you and Jerry. You have a lot of fun ahead of you.
It is really nice that Joey and Lisa got to help Neal and Sarah. I hope she finds a job soon and one that she likes as much as the one in California. It will start to get better with your daughter-in-law. She will see that it is not right to treat you and Jerry like that. Neal might end up having a talk with her or the two of you may need to talk. Maybe take her to lunch just the two of you.
It is really cute the way all your animals get along with each other. It makes nice that they do not fight. Our dogs are too jealous of other animals if they come here so it would not work for us.
Well there is not a whole lot going on here. I wrote most of the news to Adele. So you can read it there. Have a great night.

      Hi Sue
That was a very nice surprise. So, what does she put in her macaroni salad? I am amazed at what people use in theirs. Every one is so different from the other. I bet it was delicious. I love macaroni salad. Hope you enjoyed it.
Did you see the re-do of All in The Family and the Jefferson’s last night? I thought it was good. I enjoyed the clips form the original shows too.
We had thunderstorms late last night, but, they were not bad. Tonight’s are supposed to be worst. It is warm, but not gross, so that is good.
We are having a quiet weekend, as the kids are everywhere this weekend. Heather is coming over tomorrow again.
I am attaching a pic of those adorable bunnies that are solar lights- they are so cute. I love them.
Hope your day is going well.

      Hi Colleen
That is awful about your nephew. How long will that tube be in? It must be so very uncomfortable. I am saying an extra prayer for him. Did the doctors say he would have a full recovery? I pray that he does.
I am glad you are almost done with the house. At least you can finally begin to put it behind you. Another chapter will be closed. Your Mom is happy everyone is enjoying her lovely things.
So, Marissa is sick too. Both her and Heather have some respiratory thing. I thought it was allergies, but it is not. I left Rissy a message saying I had plenty of soup. Heather is coming back tomorrow, and she will finish it of…LOL
I am so disappointed in Mario. He is such a family man (or pretended to be), and I just could not believe he did that. he really let down all his fans. I can’t imagine what his wife thinks. He talked of her so much, and it looked like they had a great marriage. You just never know what goes on behind closed doors.
Hope you are having a good day, and that your nephew improves a bit every day.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is safe & enjoying the weekend. I’m not sure what happened to our 80 degree weekend, but it went elsewhere. It’s been in the 50s for the most part. It rained most of the day yesterday. It started out cloudy this morning but the sun finally made it out this afternoon. It’s supposed to warm up the rest of the week to the 70s. I’ll believe it when I see it!! I put up some of my tropical pics today. It’s looking like a tropical paradise in here now. I could wallpaper the whole place, I have so many pics,(calendars).

Well, reality has really set in. I went & picked up Jewell’s ashes today. Of course, I fell apart when the girl came around the corner with the urn. I’m still doing the deep gut wrenching bawling. A friend of mine sent me a post about dealing with the loss of a loved one. Everything it said I’m experiencing. Still seeing her coming around the corner, talking to her, etc. And FB puts out a “memory”, which is a pic of Jewell most of the time. I miss her soooooooo much!!! I lost a big part of my soul when she died. she left some really big paw prints on my heart.

The shelter I found LULU in is closed for the holiday weekend, so I won’t get a visit with her till this week.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Thanks to all the veterans who gave their all for all of us.

      Hi DD!
Is LULU the name of the cat you want to adopt? I don’t remember you saying her name.
It will be a while until you stop crying. It has not been long that Jewell is gone. There are 5 stages of grief: denial, bargaining, anger, depression, and acceptance. You can go back and forth between the stages, until you finally accept the loss and can move on. It takes 2 years for a healthy adult to get through the stages. You are a healthy adult, and can’t expect more of yourself. I think talking to someone about your grief is a very good idea. the more supports you have in place, the better it is for you.
i am sending a hug your way!! A huge hug!!
It has been warm here. We had to get the air on, due to the humidity yesterday. It s supposed to be better today- less humidity. At least it is not raining. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, so that is ok.
Have you been watching the hockey play-offs? Our team is one of them this year- the Bruins. Everyone here will be watching.
There was nothing interesting on ITKWD yesterday. I was disappointed.
I hope you feel a little better today. I wish I could make you smile.
      Love you!

      Hi Everyone,
Colleen, I will be praying for your nephew. A fire is an awful thing. I hope that he is making progress.
I’m glad you are getting towards the end of cleaning your Mom’s house. It will be a relief to get it done-but bittersweet too. I hope a nice family will move into the house and learn to love it the way you all did.
Sue, that was nice to get the pasta salad. I love it but don’t make it much anymore as it is hard to make a little bit and it is not Greg’s favorite-which is kind of funny as individually he likes the ingredients.
We will be doing hamburgers, corn and cole slaw for just the two of us later. Hopefully we won’t get the storms that they are predicting although it is raining right now.
Barbara, I can’t do many things anymore either. And the things i can do take twice as long as they used to. I guess it’s just a function of growing older. Greg thinks he should be able to do things now the same way he did when he was 35-he’s having a hard time with all that.
I’m glad Neal is settling in and they had lots of help. Three is such a cute age as everything in the world is so new and they can now tell you all about it. I love the conversations with the little ones.
DD, I hope that you do get a new cat. It seems like taking care of someone or something else helps to ease the pain as we are not thinking about it so much when we are caring for someone else. It is not like replacing Jewell-it is a continuation of the love that you had for her. I feel taking care of another cat could help with the healing.
I remember visiting my sister’s old house in Indy and all you heard all night it seemed were sirens. Now she is in a quieter neighborhood. All that city activity is hard on us country folk who normally hear frogs and birds. lol
Adele, I hope you got everything planted that you wanted. You have good minions. Those bunny lights are so very cute! They must be from the Q.
It’s funny that you said that about us being batty. My sister actually has a group of girl friends and they actually call themselves the “old bats” and it seems like I have seen bat costumes for Halloween.
Has anyone seen the pictures of the back up traffic jam on Mount Everest? It looks so odd seeing people actually waiting in line to reach the summit. They say the delays have been responsible for some climbers deaths. Mandy Moore is making the trek right now-to the base camp-I don’t know what the difference is between that and where all the others are going. I can honestly say I have never given any serious thought to climbing mountains. Heck i don’t even like to drive through mountains. It must be some very determined adventurous people that want to make that trek.
This is very weird-mostly we don’t have anything to do on the weekends and two weekends from now we have two parties to attend. One is a house warming for a golfing buddy of Greg’s and the other is a graduation party for Enya. We will probably just go to Enya’s for a short while to drop off a card and gift and then go on to the other. I was kind of hoping Enya wouldn’t have a party as it is not the most comfortable thing for us but we can’t really ignore it either.
So I have spent most of the weekend being sick. I finally feel better today. it was so weird. Friday night I had talked to Jenny and the kids were going over to Adam’s early so we weren’t going over there. So we hadn’t been anywhere in a long time and i wanted to go out and do something so we decided to go to the open mike night a town over. It’s every other Friday and we used to go it lot before we started going to Jenny’s every Friday. I was looking forward to just being out and about. We know most of the people that sing there and were just looking forward to listening to some music and having a glass of wine. So i am all showered, have makeup on, curled my hair and i start feeling really tired and really thirsty-I had a little scratchy throat but didn’t pay it much mind. So finally i think I should take my temperature and it’s not high but is 100.5-so I knew i was getting something. So we ended up staying home that night and the rest of the weekend. I’m thinking it was the post nasal drip that was starting to make me sick-so I have been using the rhinocort nasal spray and taking mucinex. I had bad swollen glands in my neck for a couple of days but that is better today too-just in time for the end of the weekend. So basically I have been in my PJ’s all weekend. No cute patriotic Quacker top. No patriotic jewelry. Usually this happens when the weather goes up and down like in the spring or fall so it was not a total surprise but i am bummed we never got to do anything.
Greg worked on the boat and got it all cleaned up and ready to sell on Craig’s List so i hope we will get some calls and are able to sell it quickly.

I want to take a moment today to remember all of our soldiers who have fallen in battle. I want to thank their families for allowing them to fight for our country. I want to grieve with the families as they remember and pay tribute to their loved ones. We are a great country and we owe our soldiers our support for their many sacrifices. I want to thank all the soldiers who struggle every day with wounds both mental and physical that they sustained in battle. I love our country. God bless America. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

This Memorial Day has really reminded me of what the day means. I have always known but just had the reminders this year. Did anyone watch the program from the Capitol last night? There was a young woman telling about her husbands death leaving her & their young daughter. It really hit me and I was crying. That was 2008 & she has since remarried.
This morning I was watching our parade & the flatbed went past, that the older Veterans sit on as it is to far for them to walk. and it use to be full & today there were only a few on it. So many have passed away.

I am really enjoying the pasta salad. Yes it makes a lot & that is why she shared with me. I like it too but would make too much for just me so I am grateful she gave me some. Adele it is not a macaroni salad with mayonnaise it is an Italian past salad. It has penne pasta, small squares of salami & cheese, onions, olives & small pieces of broccoli it has an olive oil & balsamic vinegar dressing. Don’t know if I missed anything but it is very good. I am glad it had time to sit a bit for the flavors to go through. I think you would love it.

We are having a beautiful day for a change. It is sunny & warm low humidity. But storms are to return tomorrow. So I will enjoy this weather while we have it.

      Dear Lord, Gailster!
You were all dressed, and ready to go, and then WHAM! That was not a good ending to a night. That being said, I know I have said this before, but…… I always feel in situations like that, had you gone, something awful may have happened. When the universe does so much to keep you home, there was a reason.
It was pretty quiet here too. Marissa, Enzo and Heather came to take the pool cover off with everyone. So, the cover is off, and it will take a few days to get the water clear and clean. Already, there is an issue with the electricity out there- it kept shorting out. Also, the filter is not working right. However, Gary thinks that is because it is already clogged with debris. After he gets home from the Wound Clinic tomorrow, he will take it apart and clean it. If that does not work, we are getting a new one, as I am done with him paying with it again all year. Last year it drove him nuts too. Not going to do it this year- just bite the bullet. Life is too short to have him go up and down the stairs all day long, and risk another heart attack. No way.
I hope you are well, and all set for the 2 parties next weekend. Yes, it is funny we all have batty stories. I still have to take time to write mine- it is a long novella….LOL
Hope you have a good night too.

Your words of comfort and Patriotism were also well said, and eloquent. We have some real good, All American Women on this page. God bless our troops, all who serve, and all our Quackers.

I would love that mac salad. So,is she Italian??? LOL! that sounds like an Italian salad to me.

      Hi Ladies,
I don’t know what happened, but my post was sent before I was ready. Anyway, I’m sorry for being so self absorbed, & neglecting you guys.
Gail, all dressed up & no where to go, as they used to say. I’m sorry you were sick over the weekend. That’s the pits. I hope you’re feeling better now. There seems to be a lot of crud going around. More cases of the measles have popped up across the country. This makes the most cases recorded in 25 yrs.
Colleen, I hope your nephew is doing a lot better now. Do they live nearby? Could they move into your mom’s home? Have they made any kind of living arrangements? Did the Red Cross help out in any way? They help people out find shelter, & other needs when people are displaced by a fire.
any news on the cause of the fire?
Thank you for those lovely words for the fallen soldiers. I have at least 2 neighbors who are Vietnam vets. Critt was in the Airforce. He has a lot of combat issues from that time. I did go over tonight & visited with him.
Barbara, I so enjoy the stories of you & itty bitty & how happy you are. I hope you’ll get to see him more often.

Sue, that was a wonderful surprise. So glad you ran into your friend. The salad sounds great. Could you make half the recipe? Or a quarter of it? That way you wouldn’t have so much. I have the same problem. They write recipes for families & it makes waaaaay tooo much for us singles. If I make too much I can eat the leftovers for a couple days. Leftovers taste a lot better after they’ve sat overnight in the fridge.
      Well that’s all for tonight.
      Have a great week.

      DD,
I posted to you and it didn’t go through and it also signed me out at the same time. Plus the posts from Adele weren’t there and now they are. what’s up with that?
I love the picture of the cows in the tree. It seems like there should be a story in there somewhere.
I am feeling better, thank you. It’s more an allergic thing than an illness but if i don’t catch it right away it will turn into a respiratory infection or tonsillitis.
You have no need to apologize. You suffered a traumatic event in your life and you need to concentrate on yourself. We all have things that happen in our lives that are overwhelming and we have to devote all our attention to that. We have all been around long enough that we realize that. We are just happy to be here to offer support to each other when needed. No harm-no foul.
We had a strange weekend. The days would go from sun to rain and back to sun again so it wasn’t a complete wash out. Plus it is not warm enough out yet that the rain made it more humid.
Greg brought in some lily of the valley and those few stalks are scenting the whole kitchen. That is one smell that they just can’t duplicate artificially. I love the smell and I love the look of those flowers. They are so whimsical looking I always picture fairies perching on those tiny bell shapes or flitting in and out of the flower patch of the lily of the valley.
The peonies will bloom late this spring because of the cool weather. They are another favorite. Once they bloom I always hope it is dry for the next week as the rain flattens the bushes and ruins the flowers. The only bad things about the peonies is you need to wash them off so as not to have the ants that help them bloom come in the house. But the smell is heavenly!

I know what you mean about seeing fewer of the older vets in the parade.
My father always marched in our home town parade when I was young. Every year it was the running joke to see if he would be able to get back in his uniform. Watching him march in the parade and going to the picnic in the park afterwards are some of my fondest childhood memories. It’s small town America at it’s best.

      Hi Adele,
Seeing these patriotic pictures reminds me that Greg said he saw two bald eagles coming home from work last week. I have heard people say they have seen them around here but they didn’t used to be here when I was growing up.
Brent called yesterday and said that he was going to get that thing done where they burn some nerves in his back. he said he had it done before when he lived here and it lasted him for two years so hopefully this will work as long if not longer. I can’t remember the name of it. He also said the heart doctor is planning on doing the ablation. However, he needs to wait to have that done as he has used up all his sick and vacation days-so one step at a time. it least there is finally a plan of action and eventually he will have to address the Ulcerative colitis.
So Greg spent all weekend getting the boat ready to sell and he thought he was done and then he tested the bilge pump and he doesn’t think that is working now. So we need to get that fixed before we can sell the boat now. It’s always something!
I am feeling better and seemed to have caught this thing before it turned into a problem. I just have to remember in future to start the nasal spray if i feel this stuff coming on.
I put a little different stuff in my pasta salad. I like to use rotini pasta because it holds the dressing well. Mine has chunks of tomato, cucumber, and green pepper cut up. sometimes I add black olives and chucks of mozzarella cheese. I just use bottled zesty Italian dressing for mine and also add salt and pepper and a touch of sugar. (we Polish add a touch of sugar to everything-lol) You can really add extra spices if you like-sometimes I will use an Italian blend of spices. You can really make it to your own taste and add or subtract things depending on what you like. I add the black olives for me as no one else in the family likes them so I get them all to myself. lol I can’t believe no one else likes olives and neither of my kids like sweet potatoes. it’s down right unAmerican!

      Hey Gailster
I love to hear what people put in their mac salads. One time, many years ago, I had one that had relish in it. I can’t remember one other ingredient, but it was real good. I tried to duplicate it, to no avail. I have yet to taste one I do not like.
So, saw AGT last night- loved that kid who got the golden buzzer!!
Marissa is starting to get morning, afternoon, and evening sickness. The doctor is giving her something for the nausea. They did another blood test, and her levels are going up, so that is good. the doctor will call her back later today, to give her all the results form the blood test. It is amazing what they can see just from the blood today.
I have never heard of the nerve block things on a spine before. Are these new? I hope they work for him, and he feels better. I feel so bad for all Brent is going through. he is way too young for that many doctor appointments. How long does he have to stay out of work for the heart ablation? I hope he will be free from appointments, and pain for a while after both these procedures are complete.
How is your weather???? The news has awful scenes on in the Midwest. I hope Colleen is ok too.
Did Greg get the boat all fixed? Hope it will sell quickly.
Good that you got the cold/illness handled right away. You have been sick way too much lately, and need a break. You had a tough winter, and it feels like winter is not over. Tillie has the heat on downstairs.
Heather goes to the doctor at the end of today. I hope all comes out ok.
It is about 50 degrees up here…seriously???? I am ready for a hot chocolate. I hope Sue is warmer than we are!!
      Have a good night.

      Hi Ladies,
I started a post & it disappeared. This site drives me nuts!! I hope this finds everyone safe & sound. I keep hearing about those horrible storms out there. I’ll keep ya in my prayers. By the way, I want to thank all of you for your prayers, support, & love during this difficult time for me. It’s sooooo lonesome around here now.
Adele, did you see Tara has Boo-fetti out already? She had a set of 3 glass containers & it was one of the patterns, along with harvest. Seems early to me. Summer hasn’t even arrived yet.
Gail, I got a chuckle from the cows in the trees. Somehow I don’t think the trees could hold up cows. lol. I think that pic was taken in Africa. Not sure tho. Could be Arizona or New Mexico for all I know.
We finally got above the 50s & 60s today. We actually hit 70. I know the feeling about wanting some hot cocoa, hot soup. It’s been that way here too. We just haven’t had the storms. I baked a batch of brownies & added Nutella to the batter. It made em moist.

Adele, I’ve seen boiled egg, cooked green peas, cheese, diced ham, diced pickle, in macaroni salad. I think it’s one of those ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ thrown in dishes.

Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
      Big hugs to everyone.
      Stay safe.

      Hi Everybody,
I have missed out on a lot. I have been sick and have not been posting. I got a really bad cough and it almost takes my breath away. The doctor put me on an inhaler and some pills. I will be glad when it is gone.
That was funny cows in trees. I could just see that they would bend the branch all the way to the ground. I can imagine what they would do to the tree. Some things are just funny. I agree with everybody you have no reason to apologize. You have had a loss and it is hard not to think about it. Jewel was your friend and family it is hard to lose her. It will take awhile to adjust to the lost so you just talk about it all you need to. My nephew is doing better. He is out of the hospital and staying with his son’s family. It was lucky that his wife was not in the house at the time.
I am sorry that Marissa is sick Adele. That must really be going around. I have something like that here. I feel bad about complaining at least I can take the medicine for it. I hope Marissa gets over it soon. I think that Mario did love his family as much as he could. I think that he just thought more of himself and thought he was a ladies man. Those boys will really have a hard time going thru this.
Gail that is terrible that you got all dressed up and got sick and had to stay home. I hope that you are feeling better now. It seems like there are a lot of people are sick right now. I will be glad when this year is over. It just seems like the older we get the less we have to do. When we were younger we had something to do every week-end and never sat around much. Now we are older we move slower and stay home more. I can remember when I was younger I always that I was never going to get that old that I would sit around. I guess we plan and God laughs. I heard that somewhere.
Well that is about all from here. I hope all of you have a great day.

      Hi Ladies,
This will be short. Did you know Jill Bauer is leaving the Q? I got a post on FB this morning about David interviewing her on her website & they were going to stream it live. I didn’t see myself, but it’ll be interesting to hear why she’s leaving.

I made a tribute to Jewell, but I’m not sure if I can post it on here or not. I may have to find another way, that is if you don’t mind me sending it to ya.

      I’ll talk more later.
      take care.

I will try to post quickly before the storms hit again. I am okay but we have been having severe storms with heavy rain, wind, hail & tornados in places.
I have been without electricity the past 2 nights. It is very dark so I think tonights storms are on the way. I hope the electric stays on. So I just wanted you to know I am okay if you heard about the storms. We are still better off than Ohio where they had a lot of destructive tornados. A Quacker friend there is okay & everyone is helping the people that lost everything.

      Hey DD!
I love that blue bird. I remember when you took that pic of your kitty on you,and posted it. I am glad you have all those pics of her.
What I really love in the mac salad is those edamame’s- not sure if I spelled it right. They are like peas, but hold together more. I will have to make one soon, as I am getting in the mood for one….LOL
When, I have to tell you, my computer nearly popped….as soon as I read there was boofetti, I clicked out of your post ( not that YOU are the most important thing in the world to me!!) and into the Q site to view the boofetti. I have no idea where int he hell I will put one more bowl, nesting or not, but, I got them. I am all about the boofetti.
Speaking of scary….did you see that new show last night, “In Between”? I loved it. I like a lot of the actors in it, and have seen them in other shows Very good show.
I have the news on Heather. The doctor said she has Stage 1 Cervical Cancer. I don’t like that word. I liked the pre-cancerous cells better. So, she has to go to the gynecologist every 3 months for a pap smear. They will be watching her closely. I hope he got all the bad cells out, and that they do not reappear. Prayers is all that helps, and I hope God is not tired of listening to me.
So, I could not sleep last night. First was the arm pain, and then on to the bathroom issues in the middle of the night. I was so exhausted, I didn’t get up until 10:00. Have not showered yet, either. Even when we try our hardest not to show we are upset, or worried, our bodies will make it clear to us, one way or another.
On the positive side, at least we heard good news on Gail’s Brent. He now has a treatment plan, and I am praying it will work for him, as he has been through enough.
Hope the sun is shining for you. It was shining here, but chilly, and now it is getting overcast. Rain tonight.

      Hi Colleen,
I’m glad to hear that your nephew is out of the hospital.
I’m sorry that you are sick. It sounds like maybe an upper respiratory infection. I hope the pills work soon and that you are better quickly.
My stuff was more allergy related but if i don’t take care of it right away it will turn into something worse.
It did seem like we had much more stuff to do when we were younger. But sometimes staying home just gets me antsy and i have to find somewhere to go or something to do. Greg would probably stay home all the time if it wasn’t for me. I am his social director. I make the plans and just tell him where and when we are going and he just shows up. lol

It annoys me that this site doesn’t let you cut and paste pictures. The old site let us do that and post videos too.
I did read on the Q boards a couple of weeks ago that Jill was leaving. She said it was to spend more time with her family, but it seems like that’s what they all say. I like her and think she’s a good host. I hope she enjoys her retirement.
Thanks for mentioning that about those bowls. I missed the boofetti set last year but I did get the ones with the leaves-so now I have the boofetti coming my way. it’s a very nice bowl set.

Please read the post to DD for all the info of the day……
Marissa is feeling better. Now, she is getting morning sickness. So, the pregnancy is progressing. The doctor wants her to take Mylanta. Enzo was so upset she does not feel good, he dropped off 2 big bottles of Mylanta at her work. how cute is that!
I am glad your nephew is feeling a little better. I am still keeping them all in my prayers. That was awful, but so good nobody lost their life. i can’t imagine a fire. It is devastating. You lose all your memories.
I hope you are feeling better. Everyone has or is having that awful Spring cold.
It is about to rain any minute again. I swear the plants will never grow at this rate.

      Hi Adele,
I will be praying that all Heather’s future visits to the doctor show no sign of the cancer returning. I am glad that they are watching it very closely.
I’m sorry Marissa is feeling sick. Hopefully this stage will pass quickly. Are they going to find out the sex of the baby before hand?
Everything is so elaborate now a days. People have big announcement parties for the sex of the baby and have fancy staged proposals. Everything now is a photo op to post on Instagram or somewhere.
I don’t remember even having a proposal-we just decided to get married and i didn’t have an engagement ring or anything. I guess all that stuff doesn’t really matter as we are coming up on 46 years and I’ll bet some of those marriages with the fancy proposals don’t last ten years. Especially if it’s a Hollywood marriage. I guess I’m just a grouch in my old age.
We have had a lot of rain but fortunately not big storms. I hope it stays dry for the parade Saturday as so many people spend so much time organizing the festival.
Greg has to take the boat into the marina Saturday morning for a new bilge pump. A guy is coming over to look at it that morning too. I hope someone buys it as now is the perfect time to have it up for sale. Right at the beginning of the boating season when people are looking.
The thing that Brent is having done to his back is RFA radio frequency ablation where they burn the nerves in the back. I hope it works for a long time. Then he will have the heart ablation too after that.
So you and I both have the boofetti bowls coming our way. That’s funny. DD should get a commission. lol

      Hey Gailster
I hope Greg gets an offer while the boat is being repaired. that would be the best ever. He wouldn’t even have to take it home!
That ablation sounds scary. I think you said he had that before? How long does it last? I could use some nerves killed up here….LOL
I do not even know where I am going to put the Boofetti bowls. How amusing is that? I use the Boofetti baking bowls all year.
Of course Marissa is going to find out. She can’t even wait for the ultrasound. she got this “gender reveal” kit from amazon. It even had a warning on it saying it was only for amusement. She is so much like me. She can’t wait for anything.
Heather had morning sickness for a couple of months. I hope she has it a lot less, as she looks so pitiful when she does not feel good. She has such a cute “boo boo” face.Poor Enzo is beside himself that she does not feel good. He is going to be a good Dad. he is also very protective. So…..one of the twins is dating a son of a prominent Town person ( you never know who reads these, hence the mystery). She has come home with a couple of hickies. Big brother Enzo has threatened to eat the crap out of the boy, if he sees one more hickie. He was so animated when he was talking about this, I was laughing my butt off. He is extremely protective of all his girls- sisters, mother and Marissa. I am feeling this baby is going to be a girl. god help all of them….LOL Also afraid it could be twins. Twins are on both sides of the family- Enzo’s and Marissa’s Dad. This should be interesting.
Hope your weather is good for the weekend, and the sun will shine.
I also hope Sue has good weather, as it has been scary down there too.

      Hi Ladies,
OMG!!! I hope those storms stop soon!!! I’ve been praying for God to stop em. It looks like the thunderstorms they’ve been having on the East side of the state are making their way West. So we could have some thunder & lightning overnight. It’s NOTHING like what you’re getting back there.

You girls should keep an eye out for Boofetti on ITKWD as she has more coming up on the show. She didn’t elaborate on what she has, but just gave a teaser.

I;m so sorry about all the sickness & medical issues all of you & your families are going thru. I haven’t heard of some of the tests/procedures. I hope everything turns out okay. I’ll keep ya in my prayers.

I sent the tribute to Messenger. It’s a collection of all or almost all the pics I took from the time I got her to the end. I haven’t been able to put anything down on paper just yet. I started to for the psychologist, but couldn’t continue it. Eventually maybe.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Adele, were you thinking of chickpeas? Isn’t that what they make hummus from? That isn’t the same as grits is it? I’ve never had grits.
      Don’t tell David that, lol.

      Hi Adele,
It sounds like Heather’s doctors are really going to take care of her. I hope you. It does sound encouraging that they can take care of it and it will not get any worse. She is in my prayers. I hope that she will be okay.
I was hoping that Marissa would not get morning sickness. That is a miserable time during your pregnancy. I hope it does not last long. It is fun to find out the sex of the baby. You can really start planning for the baby. It is fun to fix up the nursery for them. She has a lot of happiness coming her way.
We are already having to replant the cucumbers because of all the rain. Our zucchini are starting to come up so that is good. I am ready for the veggies to come in. They will taste so good.

      Hey DD
I don’t go into Facebook that much- only when I get an email on a birthday, or post. I will try to remember to go in today.
No, it is not chick peas. Edamame comes in a bag- maybe in the freezer section??? They are real good. Sweeter than chick peas, more like peas with a denser pea??? Hard to describe.
I hope Sue is ok, as well as Colleen and Gail. Barbara could have been in that line of danger last night too. I have not seen the news yet today. I am hoping to catch it at noon, and see what the weather people say. these storms are awful. I have not heard back from my email to my cousins in Ohio yet either.
I better watch ITKWD for the entire segment this Sunday. Did she say what would be in Boofetti? I love that pattern.
I hope you are feeling a little better today. Doing the tribute would be a healing process for you. I bet it is very pretty, and well done. You are such a good person, and a sweet and dear friend.
Hope the sun is shining for you today!

DD hummus is made from chickpeas. Edamame are soybeans. Grits are something else entirely.

I saw the photos tribute to Jewell. You will have a lot of photos to bring back good memories of her. I loved where she was peeking out from under the Christmas tree.

My cousin called last night & they have had the storms too. A tree came down so they had no power either until I think she said 1AM. Her daughter is getting ready to sell her house & the had cut the grass, put down mulch & power washed the house. She was just sick when she came home as the storm blew the mulch all around. So they got some of it out of the grass & filled in holes & the house needs to be pressure washed again. I guess that is a little thing compared to what some people have lost. But to do all that work & then have to do it all again is frustrating

      Hi Colleen
Well, she is already having her mother look into places to hold a shower. She gave her a list….LOL Only thing is, I think you have to be a member of these clubs to host a party there…..Italian/American club, Lions, etc. I think one of my neighbors is a member at the Lions. She is too funny. She likes to micro manage, just like me. That’s why they call her “Little Adele”, when she ticks them off….LOL
So the sun was shining up here. Now it got overcast. Still not raining, so that is good.
My herbs are so small on the deck. We are getting way too much rain. I am not complaining, as the rest of the country is way worst than us. It would just be ice to see the sun, all day long. It will eventually show up.
      Hope your veggies get stronger.
Hope our day is going well, and storm free.

      Hey Sue
Glad you are ok, and did not get the storms yesterday.
Thanks for looking up the edamame. I did not know they were from soy beans. Go figure! Do you like them?
That is still awful about your cousin’s house. I feel bad for her daughter. It takes so much work to get a house ready to sell, and now she has a mess on her hands. On the other hand, I am glad neither of them had their houses damaged. A tree down is not too bad, considering what could have happened. It will still be pricey for her to have removed. I was shocked at how much it all cost us when the 2 trees went down. I hope her insurance will help her out.
I hope the sun is shining for you today. It is up here, but it is overcast.

I did go in to Facebook, and saw the lovely tribute to Jewell. Like Sue said, the peeking out under the tree ones were adorable. I also like her sitting on her cat tree and checking out the world from her perch. You have a lovely home, and you decorate so nicely.

      Hi DD,
I am glad you are getting to see a psychologist. I hope it helps you get through your grief.
I was wondering-do you like hummus? Do the rest of you ladies like hummus?
I’m not too crazy about it myself.
You will have to try grits sometime. Some restaurants will make an excellent shrimp and grits although you will find it served mostly in the south. Grits are made from cornmeal-the closest thing I can think of to it is polenta.
I wonder if Barbara ever makes grits? My parents lived in Louisiana so I have sampled a lot of southern cuisine. Down there red beans and rice was very popular and of course craw fish and gumbo and jambalaya.
For some reason all the kids and grand kids love biscuits and gravy too. We raised a bunch of northern southerners. lol
I wonder if they still do this-years ago when we used to travel down south when you would stop to eat somewhere they would automatically put sweet tea on the table. I wonder if that is still customary?
I hope you have a sunny and dry weekend.

      Hi Adele,
I’m laughing that Marissa is orchestrating her own shower. lol
I’m trying to remember about Jenny’s showers. I think people from work gave her one and then her girlfriend gave her one but she asked if she could have it at our house since we had more space. Conveniently my SIL who is also Jenny’s godmother was out that week so she and I made a lot of the food.
You know when I was pregnant there weren’t ultrasounds. I think they may have started using them shortly after that-or maybe they didn’t have the technology out here in the sticks yet. In any case, given the chance I think I would have chosen to wait and not find out the baby’s sex. I figure there are so few surprises any more. I know some people like to plan for specifically boy or girl stuff or room decor but I was okay with unisex decor and clothing.
Jenny had pretty bad morning sickness for the first few months too. I felt sorry for her as I barely had any.
That is nice that Enzo is so involved. He sounds like he will be a good Dad.
I wonder if they thought about the whole twin thing before they started on this venture? lol
My paternal grandmother was a twin but so far no other twins that would have been related to her have shown up. Unfortunately her twin died in infancy. Now that I think of it-Greg’s Dad also had a brother and sister who were twins but the little girl died when she was a bout three. I had forgotten about that.
Brent said when he had the RFA before it lasted him for two years-so that would be good if it lasted that long again.
I use the set of three harvest bowls for things like cole slaw, potato salad, fruit salad etc. as they have the nice tops. I’m sure you will find a use for them.
I hope your weekend is sunny and dry.

The landscapers finally came to do the Spring clean. They puled up the one planting that had 2 together, and Amanda had me order 2 more, as she loves them. So, I called the owner, and have never done that before. He will get me 2 more. I felt a little bad, but, they do charge a lot for their service, and why should I have to buy more? I told him I have never complained, and only reason is, should I order these again, I would end up paying delivery for just 2 perennials. they were special orders from Home Depot.
Poor Heather has left messages for the local places. I think they want to cook, and I feel it is a mistake. Carting stuff in winter can be a challenge. I am suggesting to do it the first week on November, as the holidays can get very busy for everyone, and you want to be considerate of people’s schedules.
I am glad Brent had good luck with that procedure before, and I will be praying he gets as much relief as he did before, and it lasts as long.
Funny you should say you like mono sex colors. Marissa wants gray. The only gray things I have seen, have elephants on them…..LOL Too funny, these new kids, and their new ways.
I am dying to know the sex for certain too. I can never wait for surprises.
I hope your weather is good this weekend. The boys ate coming with Heather to plant tomorrow. I am looking forward to that.

      Hi DD,
I did get the tribute to Jewel in my e-mail box. That was really beautiful. I loved the part at the end saying that the person you want to talk is the person that is gone. That really hit home. The pictures were all so cute. I can see how she brought you so much joy. Thank you for sending it to me.
We had sunshine all day today. It has been really nice. They are talking storms tomorrow late but they are not sure if the severe ones will hit in our area. I am hoping that they are right and they will not be in our area. We are far enough out of St.Louis that the storms that they have there do not hit out where we are.
Well that is about all from here. The pictures of Jewel are so cute that you posted. It is hard not to count the days since we lose someone close. You will stop after awhile and it will start to get easier.
      Have a great night

      Hi Gail,
I know that I posted to you the other day but do not know what happened to it. It must have disappeared like the one that I wrote to DD. Either that or I sent it to the wrong person.
That is good news about Brent. It is time for them to come up with a plan. I bet that he is feeling a lot better now that they have said that they have a plan. It is a shame that they did not come up with it sooner so he could take time off work.
I guess that there are not as many things to do around here. They do not have things like you have around where you live. We would always have to drive into St. Louis or out a little farther.
How is Greg’s elbow? I hope that the swelling has gone down and it is not sore. It is not fun getting old. It seems like something goes wrong every time you turn around.
You know it is not fun when the parents get divorced. We do not get to see the grands as much as we did. Owen is hardly ever around anymore he is always with his dad. It is really kind of sad. We use to do so much with Owen and now hardly anything. It is the hardest thing to get use to.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
Marissa is smart. She is going to make sure that her shower goes the way she wants. She may have to change her mind about the place that she wants to have it at though. It may be hard to rent those places if you have to be a member. It will probably all work out.
You would not think that rain could hurt plants like it does. It hurts the flowers also. We have a snow ball bush and it rained and knocked all the snow balls fell off. So that is all for this year.
How is Tillie doing? I bet that she is all excited about the new grand baby coming. Sounds like she has really improved since the last time that she was in the hospital. They really did her some good. Really helped with the problems that she was having and must have had the right nurses and people that talked to her.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Gailster
      What happened to Greg’s elbow?

      Colleen
Sorry you do not see the kids as much. that always happens when they get to be teens, then they come back when they are older.
Tillie has her good and bad days. Some day she says she us “going down”. Her legs are wobbly some days.
I bet all produce is going to go through the roof with all the rain. We desperately need the sun, all across this land.
Heather has not heard back from any place yet. I think the people in the office do not work all the time, so she may have to wait a while.
The kids are supposed to come to plant today. It ought to be funny.
I hope you have a good day.
      Adele
see you on the June page….
