      Hello Everyone,
Adele, You know Brent and Kim had pet snakes. Needless to say when he moved in here the pet snakes found new homes. His dogs were fine-his snakes not so much. lol I remember being in a museum one time with them and there was a children’s section and the next thing I knew I turned around and Kim was walking around with this snake they had in there. She didn’t mind them at all. Actually when I was a kid I had a pet garter snake but then I grew up and developed a fear of them. I remember when my brother got married he was in Austin Texas and it was an outdoor event at their house and it was mentioned that they had seen a rattle snake that morning out in the yard area where the reception would be. Well I spent that whole day walking around looking at the grass. I couldn’t tell you what anyone’s face looked like as I spent all my time looking where my feet were going. lol So about all I could tell you was what shoes people were wearing. Cowboy boots are not just a fashion statement out there!
I looked at the Ironworks website. It looks interesting and the fact that it is over 400 years old is amazing.
No my Mom was not buried with the jewelry as she was cremated. Now that i think of it I wonder if they cremate a person with their clothes on? Hmmmm…
We didn’t get the pool although Greg was already to go on it. I just wanted to wait since we will be helping with Jenny’s house and all. Maybe next year.
DD, I hope you are feeling better. I had a bad night last night because of the post nasal drip I get in the spring. It caught up with me and I couldn’t stop coughing last night when I was trying to sleep. I finally got up and took some Mucinex which seems to help. I see Quacker has a give away for a thousand dollar visa gift card going on now. I wish one of us could win something.
Your story of the zoo reminded me of something that I had forgotten. When I was in college there was a small zoo in Bloomington Illinois and my friend and i used to go out there and visit so often that we made friends with one of the zoo keepers. Well the black panther had cubs one time and he let us put on gloves and hold them. Talk about a thrill. Not many people ever get to hold a wild animal like that.
Colleen, I wonder if after many years the asparagus just get too old and you have to plant new ones.
It sounds like the cat should be brushed daily maybe to keep the hair loss down. I think the thing you were thinking of was a vacuum like thing-but I bet they would still keep shedding.
I think creamsicles and dreamsicles are the same thing. All I know is they are good! lol
We didn’t have storms the other day just some very hard rains. We were lucky.
Okay so here’s what happened on AGT. Each judge and the host (Tyra) have what they call a golden buzzer that they each get to use only once during the auditions. If one of them presses it for an act that act gets to go straight through to the live shows and gets to skip having to continue throughout the audition process. So that’s what happened. Tyra used her golden buzzer so they are through to the live rounds.
      Have a nice weekend everyone.
I hope Barbara will come on and tell us she had good news from the doctor. Prayers for her.

      Hey Gailster
I will re-post my pics here for you to see to.
Please read my post to DD and Colleen on the May site, as there is a lot on there….LOL
I hate snakes. they are just a gross animal. The only thing they are good for, is eating bugs, and rats. I cannto see the need to have them as pets. Slimy things. Yuck. Glad Brent gave them away before he came back . Yuck, yuck, yuck.
We are about to get some showers. that is ok, as I finished the window box plantings for now- need 3 more little herbs of some kind. The trees are going in tomorrow- I am so excited!!
Wow…getting to hold baby panthers is a huge thing. Too bad there were no cell phones back then, as you could have had a picture.
Hope you and Greg have something fun planned. Gary needs some rest this weekend, as he is pooped. he is outside playing with the pool again.
      Adele
PS…just talked to Tillie, and she hurt her arm turning over in bed last night. She will not go to the ER.

      Hi Gail,
Another pet that the kids have had that really gives me the creeps is a hamster or a guinea pig. They are too much like a mouse. I cannot stand mice. That is ironic the one thing I do not like is a snake but they are what gets rid of the other thing that I do not like mice. Just cannot win.lol
We really want to get a pool here. The kids need something to do and so do I. It is good exercise to get in the pool and it is not hard on your bones. I can do exercises in the pool and not have any pain. It is hard to talk Ron into anything.
We were pretty lucky here also. They were showing on tv a house that a tree fell on and the whole front of the house had fallen in. The poor man that lived in there had to crawl out underneath the tree. That would have been scary. That was in Illinois though. It was just across the river. These storms are coming too close together. We need rain but not storms.
I did not know that Tyra could press the golden button. They were good and did deserve it. Do large groups win AGT? I am not familiar with all of this. I am glad that you and Adele told me about it and I started watching it. There are a lot of good shows on right now.
That would have been fun to hold the panthers. You were lucky to get to hold them. I bet that they have sharp teeth and claws. That sounds like it was a lot of fun.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I started a post earlier, but had to go back & read the posts from May. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I hope the storms are over by now. It was a beautiful day here, sunny without a cloud in the sky. It was 80, but tomorrow will be weather whiplash, cloudy with a chance of sprinkles, 60s. We could really use the rain. Last month was the 2nd driest May on record. We barely got wet. There’s bare areas on Mt. Hood & it’s too early for that.
Adele, I sent the video of the new Magnum to Messenger. I checked & it was there. I put my 2 cents in in the comments. I don’t watch reboots. If I watched em back in the day, it ruins it for me. The originals are the best. No one can fill those shoes!!! lol.
I’ve never done needlepoint. I’ve done knitting & embroidery, but not needlepoint. Those pics are beautiful. I know your family enjoyed your homemade gifts. When my mom passed away, I made Christmas decorations like crazy!! I never had made anything like that, but it came out of nowhere. The ideas flowed like water out of the faucet. I gave some away, kept a lot. I still have some.
I’d be in a suit of armor to walk around in with those snakes in the area!!! They aren’t slimy, worms are, snakes not so much. And yes they are what nightmares are made of!!!
Did the grands think you’d be replacing the trees with 40′ trees out there? By the time they’re our age the trees will be 40′ tall. lol.
Colleen, the pet stores have a device called a Fur-nator that takes care of shedding cats. I haven’t used one yet. But the groomer thinks it’s time to stop shaving Jewell. At a certain age they stop doing it cuz of the saggy skin can get caught up in the clippers, causing major injury to the cat. He suggested using a brush, but she won’t let me. There’s a hand mitt that you wear while petting the cat. I’ve seen it on TV, & Critt gave me one.
I didn’t think contestants could push those buttons. Only the judges can hit those buttons. I started watching AGT & tuned into that gal that was performing some kind of magic, but was creeping everybody out. It was tooooo bizarre for me, so I tuned out.
Speaking of Critt, he’s in the hospital. I called him earlier this week & he didn’t answer. I talked to the asst. manager when I paid my rent & he said he was aware of Critt, which told me a lot. It doesn’t take much for me to figure things out.
Well, I better get off here before I lose this.
      Take care.
      dd
PS: The pics of my Christmas décor shows some of the things I made, the red sleigh with Santa, the ribbon trees, & the tinsel tree(s).

      Hi Adele,
It will take awhile for that tree to grow. It will be really pretty when it does though. That was nice that the neighbor came over and helped Gary put the steps up for the pool. You have such a nice pool. It would be nice if we could talk Ron into putting a pool in our yard. It would give all of us something to do during the summer.
It would be nice to have window boxes to grow herbs in. What herbs are you going to grow? We have mint and dill planted but do not know if Ron planted anything else. I would like to have them in planters on the table in the back so they are easier to pick. Then we could just go out back and pick what we needed.I love any fresh veggies and herbs that we need. It is nice to go outside and just pick it..
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi DD,
The sleigh and the trees that you made are really pretty. You are really good at that. Did you make the sleigh out of felt? It is just so pretty. I wish that I could do things like that. You and Adele are so good at making things.
I am sorry that Critt is in the hospital. I hope that you hear from him soon. Do you know what is wrong with him? It is a shame that they did not tell you what was wrong with him, They should realize that you and he are friends. You, Kay and Critt have meals together don’t you?
It was fun to see the Christmas decorations. They are always so bright and cheery. It reminds me that Christmas in July will be coming up pretty soon. I miss getting my QVC Insider. That was such a good magazine. It kept you up on what was happening.
The pictures of the water just make you feel like going to the lake or somewhere and just jump in the water. It looks so cool and refreshing. Sometimes I think that it would be nice to live by the water.
I will have to try and find that mitt. We need to do something. There is hair all over the place. I have never seen a cat shed as much as he does. maybe it is such a hot summer already and that is why he is shedding so much.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen
I try to put things where I can easily reach them…hence the window boxes with herbs on the deck. So far, i have basil, oregano, chives, rosemary, thyme and parsley. I just ordered mint, bay leaf, and asparagus “roots” to plant in the garden. My friend has asparagus, and it is the best I have ever tasted. So, i want to try to grow it in the garden.
I think you would all enjoy a pool, especially with all the kids there. It is really nice to be in there, and it does wonder for swollen feet and legs. i am really hoping these new stairs, that go right into the pool instead of a ladder, will make it so i can get back in there. I got a bathing suit last year in the hope it will happen.
I hope you are having a good weekend.

      Hello everyone
I got an email from Barbara. She slept a lot when she got back from the doctor, so she wrote last night. She loves this doctor, who is very empathetic, and was s gentle and caring with her, she calmed her fears.
She is to have an ultrasound, and then , I think, a biopsy. The ultrasound is scheduled for this week.
She is still bleeding, and the doctor could not do a pap smear due to the blood.
I told her we have all been praying as hard as we can, and we all hope she will have a simple solution to the problem.
      Love, Adele

      Hi DD
Those decorations are very pretty. Did you make the sleigh too? You are a very talented woman. Your mom inspired you, and I bet you felt closer to her when you did them. I am sorry she is gone.
Too bad you turned on AGT when the creepy girl was on. You would have liked the other acts.
ITKWD is on, he just started. I hope he has some good stuff today…LOL
I am not so good with the messenger thing. I looked in there, and did not see it. I will try again….LOL
I do think they thought the trees would be bigger….LOL I may be long gone, before they are up to the windows….LOL I will still enjoy watching it.
I am so sorry about Critt. I will add a prayer that he will be ok. I know you must be so worried.
I hope you have a good Sunday. I also hope you get some rain soon, so the fires do not start.

Thanks Adele, for filling everyone in. We are having trouble with internet again and I could see the email from Barbara but could not get in to read it until just now. Very frustrating.
If I drop out for a few days it’s because I am not feeling well. I think it’s another upper respiratory infection. I’m waiting for Greg to get back from the apartment to take me to Immediate Care. I can hardly talk (he likes that). lol Have fever of 102. probably need meds. Bad time for this to happen as i have so much to do this week.

Please take care of yourself. I will be praying for you too.
I pray for all of us on here every night in my prayers. Extra prayers are added for you and your family, Barbara, and her family, DD’d friends. I hope everyone is healed as fast as possible.
A lot of people up here have bronchitis. (nobody in the family) I wonder why this is, as it is summer. Go figure.
      Love ya, Gailster!!

Here is a pic of my new recipe mac salad. I made it up myself.
      Here is the recipe:

Two bags of spinach- pre-cook by sauteing in olive oil and garlic. Strain out as much liquid as you can, after cooking, with the use of a colander.
Cook 1 lb. of macaroni- I use the “bows”.
Add a package of grape tomatoes’
      Add some chopped walnuts
      Mix all together
Put as much Ken’s Steakhouse Italian Dressing with olive oil on your salad as you like- I go light, as people can add, but you cannot take away.
      Enjoy!

It passed the “Bobby test”. He thinks we should add some feta cheese.

      Hi Adele,
It would be nice if we could put the herbs on our deck but the dogs get up there and they get into everything. Did you see those boxes that they had on QVC that you can put on the banister on your deck. They looked really nice. The only thing that I wonder about is will they blow off if there is a strong wind. That would really ruin your herbs if they did. I have been thinking about ordering some just to see how they work. I will have to think about it though. We would have to think of a way to keep the dogs from getting into it.
That would be really nice if you can get in the pool. The steps should be a lot easier to get up and down on then the ladder. You are right about having a pool. He would be surprised how it will help him with his back and sore muscles. He gets really sore after working in the yard all day so he would enjoy it also. With all the kids wanting it he may give in and get one. His grand kids can talk him into a lot of different things.
Thank you for letting us know about Barbara. That poor woman she has really been having her problems. It is probably a good thing that she is sleeping a lot. It will probably do her a lot of good. She will be in my prayers also.
That spinach and macaroni salad looks really good. I think that I will try that this week. I have never made a salad with cooked spinach. You came up with a good idea. It just looks so good and will make a nice side for a summer meal.
Not a whole lot going on here. Have a good night.

      Hey Colleen
I got the idea form a mac salad Bobby bought. It had spinach and macaroni, and that was it. It lacked a lot of flavor, so i invented my own. Tillie loved it, and said she ate almost the entire lock n lock continent I gave her….LOL I guess I will send more downstairs, if she does not come up tonight.
Weel I got sucked out of money again today. i have a filling on the side of my front tooth- a very small filling. Had the dentist apt. today to fix it, as if I do not the tooth will crack more, and I will lose it. Price: 320.00. Seriously???
Here is the update form the insurance company on the med for the UTI I had. they said I won the appeal, and they will cover the medicine, and I will be reimbursed for the 47.00 i paid. I get the next letter that says, they dis-allowed 7.00, and my co-pay was 41.00, so no check back to me. I called again,a and filed a grievance. This is ridiculous.
I hope Gail is feeling better. I also hope Barbara gets some good news.
      I vote for the pool!!

      Hi Adele,
It really sounds good no matter where you got the idea. I bought the stuff to make that tomorrow. I like to make a lot of different salads in the summer. We do not eat heavy foods at all or we try not to. That is good that Tillie liked it and ate all of that. She must be feeling pretty good right now. I hope that she comes upstairs tomorrow and eats with all of you.
That was a lot of money for you teeth to be fixed. Especially since it was just the one tooth. It makes it hard to go back to get another tooth fixed. I need to go to the dentist and that makes me think that I do not want to go there. That is a lot of money.
It is crazy that they will not just pay for that medicine and quit playing around. I do not like insurance companies. They think that just because we are on medicare we do not need as much help. We worked hard all our lives and we paid for that Medicare. We should not have to pay for the supplemental insurance, I really get mad about all this stuff.
I have to remember that AGT is on tomorrow. I need to set the dvr so it will come on. I really do like that show. I liked the three siblings that were singing together, They were really good but the song that they sang was really sad. It will be fun to see what happens tomorrow,
Well that is about all from here. Mandy is nagging me to do something for her,lol
      Have a good night.

      Hi Ladies,
I was so mad last night I could’ve chewed nails!! I’d written a post & was signing off when, poof it was gone!!! I was so mad I just shut down & went to bed!!
I’ll see if I can remember what I wrote about last night. lol. That salad looked delish! Do you add the tomatoes to the spinach while it sautes? I use the tiny bowties for my mac & cheese instead of the elbow mac. I use it for tuna casserole, too. Is that Ken’s Steakhouse a local restaurant? I’ve never heard of it.
We have Outback here, but never heard of Ken’s. I wish I could get ahold of the steak seasonings they put on the steaks/burgers on the Q. I can’t afford to order the meat all the time.
I want to thank you for the compliments on my Christmas décor I made. I was afraid you might think I pushing Christmas too early, but I was showing off what I made. I still have most of what I made. I did give my sister a few of the trees & ornaments. I used Styrofoam forms you find at any arts & crafts stores. I used straight pins to hold the felt down on the sleigh. I used cotton balls around it for snow. I should replace it & glue it down this time. I have several things that are falling apart. I should glue em back together.
Gail, I hope you’re better now. It sounds like bronchitis. That’s what I had just before the catheterization in March. I tried sooooo hard not to get sick & I still did. You’ll probably get antibiotics for it.
Adele, my teeth will probably fall out before I get to a dentist. That’s OUTRAGEOUS!! I guess they think everybody has their own personal bank or we’ve won a lottery. I don’t know where they come up with their prices, & that goes for the veterinarian!! I won’t get started on the insurance debacle!

I spent some of my Sunday putting up my tropical pics on the living room wall. I have to do something cuz these walls are ugly!! I still have some to put up in the kitchen. I use old calendars to plaster my walls. We aren’t allowed to paint or wall paper, so it’s as close as I can to decorating.
Colleen, I have to agree that Ron would really BENEFIT from having a pool. The absolute best thing for back issues is water therapy!! You see older folks doing water exercises because it takes the pain out of it. Some Drs. prescribe water aerobics for back pain. It’s very relaxing to the body. All of you would benefit from it. Good luck.
We’re supposed to have a nice week, but come Friday night the clouds & rain returns, just in time for the annual Rose Parade on Saturday. They have to march 5 miles around Portland. But people still sit out there to watch it. It’s rare to have sunny weather for it..
Well, I think that’s all for tonight.
      Take care everyone.

I am looking forward to AGT too. There is so much variety, and a lot of laughs.
i hope you and Mandy had fun on her project last night.
It has been raining here all day. Good for the trees, I wold say.
I am so tired of the insurance company, and the ridiculous reasons they give. It is what it is, as I say.
I hope Barbara is ok. Also hope Gail is doing better.
I hope you have better luck at the dentist. I think we have higher prices u p here.

      Hey DD!
You are entirely welcome. You know, doing the repair work on your decorations is a nice project for a chilly or rainy day. It gives us such a nice feeling to complete a project. I know what you mean- the cotton balls get raggedy after many years. I have one thing Steph made, with cotton balls on the bottom, and I have thought of replacing them. But, then it is not hers. She made it for me when she was in 1st or 2ond grade.
I hope you can get to see the Rose parade. If you are like me and Gary, the nice comfy seat in your hose is the best viewing spot….LOL
I hope you decide to turn on AGt again tonight. I bet you will like most of the acts. I hope you do watch. Do you watch the dance show after? Love that one too.
I got more needlepoint done today. I am trying to do 2 more tiny ones, so I can finish the wall in my bedroom, and take advantage of the 50% off sale, whihc is over July 1. Who know- at least i can do one more for sure. I did not do the pillows yet, due to the sale news….LOL
I think our prices up here are more than everyone else’s. I bet dentists in your area will be more reasonable. At least, I hope they are. You should have seen my face when they said the price. I will never eat corn on the cob again, as that could risk cracking it again.
It was raining all day long, and now the sun came out. Gotta get going, as Gary is out of the shower, and I need to get the chicken fingers in the oven……easy peasy dinner tonight- heat and eat…..LOL
      Adele
PS…you do not cook the tomatoes.

      Hi everyone,
I’m feeling a bit better. But now I think I also have a cold on top of everything else as today i developed a runny nose. Does this never end? I felt better yesterday but today the fever came back and i slept all day again, probably since i was up all night coughing the previous night. I’m a mess.
Adele, your needlepoint is beautiful. Plus the salad looked quite yummy.
DD the Ken’s dressing is just a regular brand of salad dressing-we have it in WalMart.
The Kansas City steak website does show that they sell a shaker of their seasoning. Not sure if it’s the same one that comes with the steaks and burgers but might be worth a try. Personally, I don’t like their seasonings but I am weird-at least Greg says so as i don’t like strong seasoning on anything. I am a strictly Lawry’s seasoned salt and fresh ground pepper girl.
Will be thinking of Barbara during her ultrasound tomorrow.

      Hi DD,
wish you were here to help us convince him that it is healthy for all of us. You could go swimming with us also. It would just be nice if we all lived closer. We could have a pool party. We could have the fancy drinks with the umbrellas in them.lol
Hopefully the rain will hold off until after the parade. Rain always shows up when you do not want it. We are supposed to have rain again this Saturday. We do need the rain but not the storms. It would be nice to have a slow steady rain for a day.
Your Christmas decorations are so cute. You are good at making things. It all looks good. It is hard to keep things looking new. Even things that we buy are hard to keep looking new. The decorations that you made look just as good as what you can buy. Have you ever thought of doing that again?
We have Ken’s salad dressing here also. They make some good dressings. You can use any type of salad dressing in that salad I am sure. We tried it tonight and it was really good. We did not have Ken’s salad dressing either.
Well that is about all from here. That water in the pictures looks so good. All the fish too. They are all such pretty colors. I am going to sign off for now. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I made that salad that you made tonight. Everyone here really liked it also. We ate it two different ways. We had just the salad and then we added some chicken salad to it and it was so good. We ate all of it. So it is definitely a keeper. We are going to have it again next week. It was really good for my vegetarian grand. She really ate a lot of it. Thanks for posting it.
Our project was Mandy could not figure out how to work the answering machine. I do not know how many times that I showed her. And she would keep telling me she needed help. That girl I think that part of it was to aggravate me. Once a kid always a kid. They do things just to aggravate me.
What did you think of AGT tonight? I thought that guy that had the six kids deserved to get the golden buzzer. He had such a good story. I could not believe that guy with the knife or sword. I think that he could see or he could not have cut that pineapple on Howies head. I guess that I am a skeptic. Those two acrobats that the one fell were really good. I am surprised that they got thru. I figured that they would x them since they were afraid that the other people that did similar acts might get hurt. You never know how they will vote. They had a couple of really good singers on tonight.
I hope that those two are doing okay also. Gail just posted a couple of minutes ago and she is doing better. I wish that we would hear from Barbara.
That is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Gail,
I hope that you start feeling better tomorrow. Did they tell you what it was that you have when you went to the doctor? That is terrible to have a cold on top of what you already have. Just take care of yourself.
We tried that salad that Adele made and it is really good. We tried it with just the salad the way she fixed it and then we tried it with chicken salad mixed in with it and it was really good also. It will make a good meal for the summer. Everyone here ate it all. Even the vegetarian could eat it also. So it was a good salad.
I do not like Kansas City steak. Their steak is not all that good and their hamburgers are terrible. We tried them and they shrunk up to nothing. So we will never have them again they are too expensive. I would like to try the meat that the other company has that they have on their now. I think that it is Rastilli am not sure. I am afraid that we will have the trouble that we had with the others. I have not heard anyone that has tried their meat.
Barbara will be in our prayers here.
Take care of yourself and do not try and do too much.

      Hi Everyone,
Colleen, they diagnosed me with bronchitis but gave me the same antibiotic that they would give for pneumonia since last time I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection which then ended up going into pneumonia. I’m kind of surprised that they did not give me an inhaler as they did give me in office breathing treatment. I can’t believe I now have a runny/stuffy nose on top of all the rest. It’s hard to rest at night with all the coughing.
I watched AGT last night. Have not had a chance to watch World of Dance yet. One of my other dance favorites So You think You Can Dance started on Monday and you should all check out Master Chef. I think that’s on tonight on Fox. You would love all the home cooks.
I figure when you get a golden buzzer from Simon that’s a big deal as he does know his singing talent. The man did have a wonderful back story but even though it’s hard to separate the back story from the person people really need to do that when it comes down to voting. I thought it was interesting that the daughter kept picturing those three little boys.
I am thinking of Barbara and hoping we hear some good news.

      Hey Gail!
i loved that story n the man who got the golden buzzer. Cried all through it, of course.
I hope we hear more from Barbara soon. Still praying!
I hope you can sleep better tonight. I think you are 48 hours into the antibiotic, so it should kick in by tomorrow….I hope. So miserable to feel the way you do.
Hope Greg is waiting on you hand and foot. Did he make soup for you? Actually, can Greg cook? Gary can heat things in the microwave. LOL

DD, I am sorry. I forgot to answer your question on the salad dressing. Gail is correct- it is a brand- no steak house restaurant. They have a lot fo dressings, and every one is good.

Thanks, Gail for the compliments on the needlepoint. I am hurrying to do 2 more small ones, as there is a 50% off sale til end of month.

      Hi Colleen
i loved the ones you loved last night too. Cried through the whole golden buzzer one. When the first act came out, I told Gary that if Dd did watch, she woudl turn it off again…..LOL I laughed so hard in the beginning, I was crying and choking. Called Tillie, and I could not even get my words out, but that did not matter, as she was howling too. I hope DD watched longer, and saw the better acts. I get such a kick out of that show. the sword guy was really creepy!
Your daughter is so funny. She just needed your attention.
The sun came out here today-yahoo!
Gary is not feeling good again, so we are having the frozen chicken soup I previously made….defrosted, of course….LOL
I hope we hear from Barbara too.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Ladies,
I did see part of AGT last night. I think I tuned in when Howie had the pineapple
on his head & the creepy guy with the sword. If I’d been in Howie’s shoes, I would’ve passed out on the stage. I didn’t care for the so called comedian. He was weird for sure!! I cried during the judging of the last guy, the one with all the kids. He really did deserve the Golden buzzer. I don’t think that happens very often, esp from Simon. I used to watch the show for a long time, but as usual I got bored.
Gail, I thought you had bronchitis. I’ve had it so often I know the signs. I’m surprised the Dr. didn’t prescribe a cough syrup with codine in it to help you sleep at night. The meds should be kicking in by now. Hope you’re feeling better real soon.
Colleen, Rastelli’s meats are good. I got the burger TSV last yr & they were good. I enjoyed em. I’ve been tempted to get the sirloin steaks, but haven’t yet. Maybe one of these days.
Did anybody get in on today’s TSV baby back ribs from Corkey’s? They looked delish, but I could never eat that much barbeque.
I’ll be sitting here watching the Rose parade Sat. morn. Two local stations usually broadcast it, then repeat it later on in the evening.
Oh, I talked to Critt today. I called the VA hospital & was finally able to get thru to him. He said he had a heart attack. When he called for the ambulance he was having trouble breathing. By the time he got to the ER they told him he was white as a sheet, & almost gone. He’s been on life support up till last night. They took him off the respirator & he went into cardiac arrest again. He’ll be in the hospital a few more days, then he’ll be sent home to pack a bag, then head over to a rehab center for 3 weeks, he said. I told him to be sure to let me know when he comes back so I can find out where he’ll be going. I guess the Dr is trying to get him to go into assisted living, but he’s balking. He said something about he doesn’t have his cats yet. Not sure what he meant by that. He took my phone # & said he’d be in touch.
I’ll keep ya posted on his outcome. He really should be in a care facility, so he can be monitored. He has a lot of medical issues & he doesn’t take care of himself.
I better get off here before I lose it again.

      Hi Gail,
I watch AGT with the grands and we tried to watch the show World of Dance. They did not like it and said that they do not like to watch people dance. They will watch dwts for a little while but not the whole show. So we will have to find something else to watch. They want to watch some ninja warrior show. They do all this stuff like climbing and all that. As you can tell I am not impressed with that show at all.
I hope that this medicine helps you and you do not get as sick as last time. It seems like when you get sick with this it really hits you hard. It is a shame that the medicine that they gave you does not make you sleepy at night. It would be nice if it would help with the cough.
It was fun to watch the guys family while he was singing and when he got the golden buzzer. They all looked so excited. It would be nice if he wins it all but I thought the same thing about the group that Tyra gave the golden buzzer. This would be another show that would be hard to judge. You hear so many sad stories and you want all of them to win.
Well that is about all from here. Take care of yourself and get all the rest that you can.

      Hi Adele,
We missed the first act last night. So I do not know what they did. Just heard the judges say that they were not good and good bye. The one woman that I was glad that she made it thru is the heavy set woman that was told that she was too big to be on the show. She had such a good voice and she did not deserve to be treated like that. I was glad that last night they treated her the way she should have been. That is so good that Tillie got such a big laugh watching the show.
I am sorry to hear that Gary is feeling bad again. I hope that the chicken soup will help him to feel better. Is it stomach trouble again? That poor guy has had more problems then he deserves. Hope that he get over this soon.
We has sun here today also. It was really hot too. You could not stand to be outside for very long at all. We need a pool to go swimming and not feel so hot. Hope you are not as hot there as we are. It was in the 90’s.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
      Colleen
p.s. Will say a prayer for Gary and that he is over this soon.

      Hi DD,
I will have to check out Rastellis meat and see what we think of it. I am sure that we will like it if you did. I did not get the bbq ribs either. It is a lot more fun grilling them and bbqing them ourselves. I am not sure of the bbq sauce that other places use and do not want to take a chance that it is too hot.
I am glad that you got to speak to Critt. It is a shame that he will not go to assistant living but I understand why he won’t. It is so much nicer to be able to stay in your own place and not have to worry about living somewhere else. They tell you what to do and when to go to bed and when to get up. He does not sound like he is ready for that.
That guy singer last night did deserve to get the gold buzzer. I never knew that Simon could be so nice to people like he was. He even talked to the mans children. They seemed to be a nice couple to have taken all those kids in. You could tell that they all are very close and hope that they stay that way. They seemed to all watch out for the boy in the wheel chair. Loving family.
Thank you for posting the pretty pictures. They are so bright and cheerful and that water is so clear and blue.
      Have a great night.

I am so sorry about Critt. I know if he leaves, you will miss him. This getting older is not what we all expected. Does he have a cat? I wonder what that was about too.

yu always post such pretty pictures to keep our spirits up.

      Hey colleen
Tillie gets a huge kick out of the crazy acts on there. I like seeing her laugh. She watched the Bachelorette too. I just cannot watch that show, as it is so crazy to think you pick a husband on TV.
It was Gray’s belly again. today he seems fine, as I pulled out seem frozen chicken soup. That is always good when you don to feel good. It is awful, as he nerve knows when it will start. The doctor did say it was temporary and will go away in time.
I have to tell you something that bothers me. JJ always goes to Maine right after school ends, with his best friend’s family. Well, this year they are leaving 2 days before the play. Well, Steph said he wants to go to Maine, and they (Jhonny and Steph)don’t gnat to take him up there after the play because it is a 5 hour drive, back and forth. His friend’s mother tired to change the date, for their trip, but she could not. So, after all these practices, he will not be in the play. Steph says he is fine with it, as he really woudl rather be in Maine for a week, and not do the play. I am the one who is disappointed. I love seeing him on stage. I guess I have to let it go, and not let him know how disappointed I am. This is the only chance he has of a time on a lake, as his parents do not go anywhere like that. Jhonny is always working, and Steph does not like bugs, etc. the kid deserves a good time, so that is ok. I just hope the director at the play is not mad- Steph did tell them last week. He did not go to practice this week. On the other hand, I also wish the directors woudl announce the day of the play a little earlier, so things like this would not happen. they just found out about 2 weeks ago when the date for the play would be. Oh well, as I say, it is what it is…..Gary said we cannot drive him for 5 hours, as I tried that too….LOL
We cannot control everything, and have to adjust as we go.
Hope you are having a good day.

      Hi Adele,
I cannot stand to watch any of those shows that are about finding a husband or wife on tv. They do not last or they break up before they ever get married. That is just dumb if you ask me. What can you learn about a guy in that short a time. Especially when you are in front of cameras and all these people are watching you.
That was good that you had the chicken soup in the freezer. That is really good when you are sick and it can really help with some ones stomach. I just hope that he does not have this problem for very long.
I can understand why that would bother you. They will have to find someone else to do both parts and that will be hard to do.I wonder if this will make a difference next year when he wants to be in one of the plays. I sure hope not. The director should have let them know a lot sooner then they could have planned around it. If JJ does not want to be in the play and would rather go to Maine then there is not much that you can do. You should not try to make that 5 hour trip. That would really be hard on you and Gary. That is up to his parents to do this and to make the decision. It is hard though,
I am finding out that we have no control over our grands more and more every day. There are times when I think that my daughter is being too hard on them but it is not for me to say. So I have to keep my mouth shut and just watch.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

If any of you care to please say a prayer that I can get the strength back in my legs. I have been working very hard with the therapist but so far no change. He is not ready to give up yet but if I keep working & still do not improve he said then it is because the stenosis in my back is blocking the signal from my brain telling me to get up and he cannot fix that. I want so bad to regain my strength. Also go next week to have my hearing checked & see what can be done there. That one worries me as I know insurance does not cover hearing tests. I have a Medicare advantage plan from Highmark & it covers things well. Did you check everything out or just take a supplement because someone told you too. I went to seminars & checked everything & decided this was best for me. I know Highmark is all over the country as I can get coverage anywhere I would go even out of the country. I do have co pays and pay $73 a month for this but it covers most everything. My blood pressure meds by mail cost me nothing & that is all I take.
I hope all the sick are doing better.
I wish the weather would set to summer. It has been cold here some mornings in the 40’s the rest in the 50’s it has been a chore not to turn the heat back on so I just wear sweatshirts. Some day time highs have only been in the low 60’s. We also get rain every day or two. That is why it stays cold no sun to warm it up.

      Hey Colleen
you are so right. We have no control over our grands, or what they do. I am also worried about what will happen the next time he wants to be in one of the plays. It seems I am the only one who is worried about that. His mother is not.
So, did I tell you Amanda the Panda was sick? her cute little face was all swollen, and she is coughing like crazy. Of course she insisted yesterday that she did not need to go to urgent care. She has no GP right now, as her insurance changed. She calls me on her way to work, crying, saying her ear is bleeding. So, I say she needs to to to the ER, and I will go with her. She went to work, explained, and they let her off her shift. (of course, as who wants a sick server?) Off to the ER. She has a severe sinus infection, and a perforated ear drum. They put her Augmentin. She went home to sleep.
Barbara sent me a quick email. She got through the testing, and is waiting for the results. She is hoping she will only need a d&c. She is still (of course) very upset by all of this, and hopes the bleeding will just stop on it’s own. Pressers continue to be needed. i feel awful for her. I wish we could hug the stuffing out of her.
I hope you are having a good day. At least when I got back, I sat on the deck with Gary for the rest of the afternoon.

      Hi Sue
Omg- of course we will say extra prayers for you. Are you able to get aorund in your apartment, and take care of yourself? I feel awful about this, as it would mean a spine surgery for you. I believe the neck area controls the legs, as that is what happened to Gary a long time ago-when he ended up in a wheelchair. the good part is after the surgery, he was fine after some PT to get the strength back in the leg muscles. Gary waited way too long for the surgery, and that is why he was in a wheelchair. Had he done the surgery months prior, it would have never happened.
I also want you to know that to recover form a neck surgery is easier than a lower back one. I hope this helps you decide what to do.
Pleas let me know how yo are and how you feel. You are always in my prayers, as are the other Quackers. I will add this medical need to my prayers for you.
We love you, Sue! I wish we could all hug the stuffing out of you too!

I will be praying that you get better soon. I know that you can do this. You are a strong willed person and can work thru this no matter what you have to do. Just hang in there and keep working. Therapy will do a lot for you and if you have to have the surgery that will help also.
You will be in our prayers.

      Hi Adele,
Poor Amanda. I hope that she gets better soon. I can imagine that they did not want her working if her face was swollen and her ear was bleeding. I hope that she will stay home for a few days and get better. She should be better soon. It is a shame that she decided to go work and did not just go to the er and get some help. She is such a good worker and would rather go to work then take care of herself.
I hope that they give Barbara the results quickly. She really needs to find out and quit worrying. It is hard to keep waiting for something to happen. If she has to have a dnc and that is not bad. She will be fine after it is over.
The thing with the play will work out fine. JJ is a good actor and he loves doing the plays so she will have him in the play again. She may have others that have to leave the play for the same reason. Maybe next time she will know better then to wait so long to let people know when the play is going to take place.
That was nice that you could sit on the deck and rest for awhile. It has been too hot here to sit outside here right now. It will be nice to get out and just sit on the deck and talk. It would be nice to sit outside with just Ron. We have not done that in awhile. I love having the kids here we enjoy being around them.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen
I hope our Sue and our Barbara will be ok. They are getting a lot of Quacker prayers!
My laptop was ding up-dates all day long.
Amanda was out of work for 2 days, and went back today. She came by yesterday and she and Marissa helped Gary finish getting the new set of stairs into the pool. Well……Luna, Marissa’s puppy, had more fun in the pool than anyone else. I have a pic attached. It was so funny. Heather had the boys for the day, so she was here too. Yesterday was a very busy noisy day…..LOL The puppy was so wiped out, that Marissa had to carry her back home when she walked her this morning. She swam her furry heart out.
JJ and Aizen had fun with the puppy too. Aizen gave me a big hug, and told me he missed me. Sooooo, I hugged the stuffing out of him cute little self. hugged The JJ too, of course.
Hope you are all good. We do not need any more Quackers to be sick right now.
      Love ya!

      Hi Adele,
It looks like everyone is having a ball in the pool I hope that you can get in the pool also. Then you can have fun with all the kids. That pool looks so relaxing and like a lot of fun.
It is great that Amanda took off work for two days and got better and did not try to work like she was. I guess that we are all like that when we were young. Worked no matter how we felt. That really did no good for anyone.
That was nice that the girls helped finish up with the steps. They are such good kids. You are lucky to have such a good family. How cute that AIzen squeezed the stuffing out of you. That is so nice when the kids miss you when you have not seen them in awhile. Our grands give us such joy. I do not know what we would do without them.
We are doing fine here and hope that Gary is feeling better again. I hope that Sue and Barbara get well soon and are up and running around again.
Who is Jackson Odell? What part did he play on the Goldbergs? I hope that he was not a really young person. It is so sad when a young person dies lke that. I think that it is bad luck for me to start watching all of these tv shows.

      Hello Everyone,
Well it’s been a rainy weekend here.
Adele, yes Greg can cook. He’s a great short order cook and sometimes he will cook just for the heck of it. He likes cooking. Probably because he hasn’t done it every day for 45 years. lol
I’m glad that Amanda is getting over the sinus infection. Was the perforated ear drum related. She sounded so calm when she said she was bleeding from her ear. I would have been freaking out. Will her hearing be negatively affected in the future?
You know even though it looks good I guess I won’t be making that mac salad as I’m sure it’s not low carb.
You know if Tillie likes the silly acts she will love The Gong Show. I think it starts next week. Talk about silly acts! And of course the host is Tommy Maitland (aka Mike Myers) and I love him as he makes little aside jokes that are quite funny but you really have to listen for them. I’m with you and Colleen though and think the Bachelor and Bachlerette are goofy. How can you find love on a TV program. But I imagine most of them are just doing it for the publicity and just to get on TV. What a goofy world we live in when people will now do just about anything just to get on TV.
I totally understand your misgivings about JJ and the lake vs. the play. I like to show the children when they start something they need to follow through so this is giving a mixed message that if you start something and something that you think is better comes along you can drop the first thing. I understand that this is a message that probably conflicts with your upbringing. I too would worry about future plays. If it were me I would have driven him up after the play but I guess that is not possible since Steph doesn’t drive. Another good reason for her to take that test! lol
DD, I hope that you get some good news back from Critt. You know last time I had this they did give me codeine cough medicine basically for the purpose of sleeping at night. I guess the different doctors prescribe things differently. Plus everyone is trying to stay away from the opiods and all the addictive drugs. So maybe that had something to do with it.
I have never tried Rastellis but I did one time buy some Mama Mancini’s individual meat loaves and Greg really liked those. We used to buy Corky’s sometimes years ago. They are good but Greg likes to barbecue the ribs himself and you can buy Corkey’s sauce in the store so i don’t buy them anymore.
Sue, I will definitely say prayers for you. I didn’t realize you were having a problem with your legs losing strength. Greg has that stenosis too and says like he feels it makes his legs week. Have you had any cortisone shots in your back? Are you finding that you have hearing loss too? Greg has hearing aides but never wears them which i find to be the case with so many people. Sometimes I get so tired of having to say everything twice. I know he can’t help it but it’s hard on both people involved. The hearer and the talker.
Boy you have really been having some bad weather. Although I know you don’t like the heat so if it would just get a little warmer it would probably be perfect for you. You know I watch The Goldbergs but I just can’t place that guy. He must not be a regular. So young-so sad.
Colleen, I’m surprised that the young girls did not like the dance show. Hmmm. I know the show they like-American Ninja Warrior. I think my grands like that too. I’m not much into that one.
We had a busy weekend. All the Choirboys were in town for a recording session. So they came out here Friday morning and they brought my friend Nan-one of the other members wife out with them. So Nan and I went out to lunch, went shopping-I found a cool picture of Wrigley Field for Brent with the marque saying World Series Champs on it. It was a print from an original painting. Then we went over to the movie theater and saw Ocean’s Eight. It was a fun movie. We had a good time. It’s funny when Nan was heavier she was always hot like me but now after having the surgery to remove her stomach and losing all that weight she is now always cold. I still am not used to seeing her like she is now-in my mind she is still how she used to look and i am surprised every time I see her. After the guys got done recording for the day we all went out for a fish dinner since it was Friday.
Larry-the member from Idaho stayed with us that night and Bill, Tim and Nan went back into the city. Saturday was the graduation party for Adam’s oldest daughter Gabby. So we went out there for awhile since Adam’s brother Nathan wanted to see the guitar that Greg had made. I talked to Adam’s Mom and apologized for what was happening between Jenny and Adam and she gave me a big old hug and almost had me in tears (again) lol. But she said that everyone’s priorities where for helping the grands to get through this and reassured me that it was okay. We are lucky that all of Adam’s family have been so good to us through all this. Piper comes out of the house and is looking at me weird and she finally comes over and says where’s Grandpa? I guess she only thinks of us as a twofer. lol So I said he’s over showing Uncle Nathan his guitar-so she says will you take me over there and then Lachlan and Finn and Isla all want to come too. So they all checked him out to make sure that he was there and went on their merry way. Then Piper had to tell me that she was having a sleep over at Grandma’s with Isla that night. They were all excited. We had to leave after an hour so Larry and Greg could get back into the recording studio.
Sunday, morning Bill and Tim came back to do more recording. By this time I was tired from being so busy after being sick so I layed in bed and watched a movie and took a little nap and got up and read my book until the guys came upstairs about six. Then they all headed back into Chicago and Bill will fly back to New York today and Larry will take a train back to Idaho in a few days after spending some time with his brother.
It was a good weekend. We crowned a new Triple Crown winner.(Adele, Gronk’s horse came in second.) The Tony Awards were on last night hosted by my favorite Josh Groban (one of his songs is the ringtone on my cell) and Sara Barielles. Horse racing and musicals all in one weekend! Paradise!

      Hi Sue!
nobody has been in the pool since Saturday, as it got real chilly here. Marissa wants to come tomorrow, as she is off, and it is supposed to be in the low 80’s, then it will get really gross- humidity-yuck!
I saw that on the internet. that is just awful. So terribly sad this young man could not kick the drug habit. He could have had such a great future. I hate that people cannot get the help they need, and the drugs take over their lives. I also know every day is a struggle, when they get sober, as the urge to use will never leave them.
I don’t know if I ever said that Heather is a recovering addict. She has been clean for over 3 years from drugs. She overdosed, and was so very lucky as to how it happened, as she would not be alive today, had she been home alone. She had decided to stop using, and could not do it, and bought some heroin, and used it. She snorted it, and did not inject. She was in heavy traffic, coming onto a main street. She rear ended a doctor, in a Jaguar- no damage to his vehicle, becasue they were hardly moving. police and EMT’s were there in seconds. All she remembers is the police officer screaming in her face, when she was revived. Who rear ends a doctor, in dead stopped traffic, with no damage? I know the Angels were watching over her.
We were all devastated. It took a long, long time for the girls to speak to her again. We fired her, as we couldn’t take a chance with her on the road. I was so pissed at myself for missing it. There were no usual signs- no stealing, no things missing. She didn’t miss work. The only clue was she always saying she did not feel good, her back hurt, she had cramps, etc. She used at night, and on the weekend, so she didn’t feel good in the day, as she had no heroine in her. The reason she overdoes that time, was when she had stopped using she was not used to the dosage she used to take, and when she snorted it, out she went. They revived her twice, on the cold pavement in the street. I was both in shock, and so mad you cannot believe it, as she drove when high. I felt if you want to kill yourself, do not take anyone else with you.
After she got clean, she went to the police station and thanked the officer who saved her life. He could not believe she was alive, as he told her he expected her to die at the hospital. he also told her she did not fit the profile for a heroine user. (I say there is no profile, as there but for the grace of God go you and I) She was in bad shape. When I first saw her after the overdose, she was an awful grey color. She actually looked like she was already dead to me. It was an awful time for this entire family. It took a lot to get clean, and now to keep clean is a daily challenge. She goes to meetings a few times a week, and is very close with her sponsor.
I decided to say something now, as having an addict in your family is nothing to be ashamed about. We need to bring it out of the shadows, and into the light, so people will seek the help they need, and realize they are not alone. It could happen to anyone.
Here is another sad thing. A few months later, at a meeting, in comes the police officer who saved her. she became a support to him in his quest to remain clean. She has not seen him in a while, as she goes to a different meeting now.
I check the obituaries in the Sunday paper, and every time I see a young person, or any person, and it says “died suddenly”, I know there but for the grace of God, go I. I then say a prayer for their family, as they lost the battle with the Devil. We can’t let the Devil win. We have to support our friends and family who have issues, and pray they never turn to drugs.
Heather says she began using to make the pain go away. She suffers from clinical depression. Self medicating is one of the most common reasons they start. It is very, very sad, and kills families. Please keep her and everyone who quietly suffers from addiction in your prayers. People need to speak out, and get help and support for their pain. We have a pretty strong family, with a retired social worker at the helm, and it nearly killed us.
thanks for listening. A prayer to everyone who has problems and issues they are ashamed of. Nobody should be ashamed of a problem, as we are all human. No human goes unscathed.
      Love, Adele

      Hi Colleen
I think I tuckered myself out with my post to Sue. Please read it.
He was one of the kids at the high school- not sure if he was one of the “JTP Posse”, as he looks different in the posted on line photo. Such an awful awful shame. Breaks my heart.
Too cold to be in the pool. Tomorrow Marissa is coming with one of her friends, and my puppy, as it is “supposed” to be a lot warmer….LOL
Gary is ok right now…I am afraid to say that, for fear something will happen….LOL
My friend Winnie had surgery today- hip replacement. She had that new procedure, where they go in with a small incision, and don’t cut any muscles. the recovery is supposed to be very fast.
I will make muffins for everyone tomorrow, as i am afraid my blueberries will go bad…LOL
I hope you are all ok!

      Hey Gailster!
I totally agree with you. I am not happy about the play, but, if I want to keep the peace, I ahve to be quiet. So, quiet I will be. I was so looking forward to the play, and seeing him up on the stage again. I hope live long enough to see him in another one.
You had a fun filled weekend. Did you sleep all day today??? You must have been all pooped out.
I am so glad you and Greg had a good time with the Choirboys, and at the graduation. that was very sweet of Adam’s mother to hug you, and say those comforting words. She sounds like a very nice lady. the kids are blessed to have her as a grandmother.
The ear was caused by the allergies, that went into an infection, which did not get prompt treatment. I hope Amanda realizes she has to go to the doctor when things start to tank. the problem is, she has a very high tolerance for pain. She was not in pain, even at the ER. All she said was “there was pressure”. She did say on Saturday that the pressure was gone. thank God!
That is great that Greg can cook. we woudl starve over here….LOL
Please read the novel I wrote to Sue. So awful that the young man killed himself. The Devil took another soul. My heart goes out to his family. I pray they can find peace.
      Love, Adele
PS….hope Sue and Barbara and Critt are doing better.

      Hi Gail,
Sounds like you had a really good week-end. It was nice that you and Nan could go out to lunch and shopping like you use to do. You seem to find all kinds of neat things when you are out with Nan. That picture sounds really cool and Brent will really like having it. It is nice that you could get out for awhile after being sick for so long.
Adam’s parents sound like they are very understanding. I am glad that they are not upset with you and Greg as you did not have anything to do with that. It was nice that you went to Gabby’s graduation. Poor Piper she did not see papa and that upset her. DO the kids know what is going on now? The kids are lucky to have two sets of grandparents that are worried about them and are going to make sure that they have a good life. They have a good set of grandparents. Just hang in there Gail. I know that it is hard and there is nothing that you can do but help the kids thru this. That is a big job in itself. I am still praying for all of you.
Do you have any plans for Greg for Father’s Day? We are taking Ron out to dinner on Saturday with Danyielle and then we are going to fix a meal here for him on Sunday. Mandy has to work so this is the only way that he can be with both girls for Father’s day. It will be a lot of fun though.
Ron is like Greg. He can cook but does not do so unless he has to. He has some dishes that he can cook a lot better then I do. He makes that cajun shrimp salad and will not let anyone else make it put him. He knows what he likes to cook and that is one thing that he will always cook. That is why we do not have it very often.
You will be getting a lot of rest for the next few days. You will be tired from all the things that you did this week-end. Just glad that you had a good time.
      Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
We have been there also. So we know what you are talking about. We are still going thru that with the older grands father. He was in rehab and they sent him home. He is no better then he was when he went in. It is hard on the kids they do not know what to do. They are not sure whose side they should be on. You are lucky that your grands are old enough to know how they want to handle it. They love their mom but do not want to see her harm herself. Your daughter knows that she has you and Gary behind her and will help her all that you can. That is good right there. We have found like you have it is better to just tell them what you think. They need that more then anything. You will be there for them but will not support their habit and will never say that it is okay.
You need some warm weather so you can get in the pool. Do not need the humidity. That is awful. We were talking to Ron today and telling him how we need a pool so we can cool off. He just ignored us. So I may have to just go and get one and put it up and then tell him I have a surprise for him. That would be interesting. I wish we did not have all these repairs we need to get done right now. We are still waiting for the electrician. We cannot find one that is not busy right now.It is aggravating.
That is sad that the police officer that saved Heather was at the meeting. I hope that he has stayed off the stuff and did not do any harm to himself. I guess with the job that he has it is easy to give in to things like that. They have to see a lot of things that would really tempt you. This is just a sad world.
Well this was depressing. Tomorrow I will think of nothing but happy things to talk about. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen
Well, Amanda, Marissa, the puppy, and Marissa’s friend are here. The puppy was already in the pool. I think Luna (puppy) will get more use out of the pool than anyone else. the water is too chilly for me to try to get in yet. I ahve to find the suit I bought last year….hope I did no throw it out in my big purge….LOL
We have no clear plans yet for Fathers Day. Just not sure what we will do. Have to watch for the weather too.
It is depressing. I labored over whether or not to mention it. then, after the recent news of another young actor, i decided to lay it all out there. I figured if one person reads it, and has comfort knowing it can be anyone, from any family, and it is no your fault, than that is a good thing. Maybe it can save a life, and that would be worth it all.
The weather is warm here, with low humidity today. tomorrow, it will be gross….yuck!
I got an email from Barbara over the weekend. She is hoping to post soon. No news on the results yet.
I pray every night for all my Quacker friends, and their friends and families. All of us have at least one person we are worried about, and I hope all works out as well as can be expected.
Hope your day is good, and you get that pool.

Well it seems the PT is not working so after Fridays session I am done. He said continue to do the exercises at home so I do not lose ground & who knows maybe one day it will improve. He said my strength has improved but the signal is just not getting through from my brain probably the stenosis. I have had this problem a long time but thought it would get better after the knee replacement but it has not. No one seems to believe how bad it is but it is a problem for me. Guess I will remain stuck at home unless I take my walker to sit on. I am glad I do not have to go in anymore as co payments add up.
Today turned out nice. It was chilly 52 this morning but currently 74. I washed my windows and took my garbage down after therapy.

      Hi Ladies,
Where to begin. My life has been turned upside down again. I found bed bugs in my bedroom over the weekend. This time it’s for real, unlike last yr. I reported it, so I’m hoping they’ll get on it right away. They’ll have to find someone to come in & pack my stuff up again. There’s only so much I can do on my own. But,this time the “bug lady” isn’t in charge. Thank goodness!!! She’s looooong gooooone!! They had soooo many complaints that they moved her somewhere else. Now they have a professional pest control coming in. So hopefully it won’t be all summer long ordeal. They use professional strength chemicals & that does it. I was told it might take 2 sprays, but they’ll be within a couple weeks, not having to wait 3-4 weeks for 4 months.
I know it sounds silly, but when you have to pack up all your belongings in order for them to come in & spray it just tires me out just thinking about it.

We had a cold & wet weekend. Just in time for the Rose parade Sat. morning. But it didn’t rain for the whole parade. Just a shower, then the sun came out briefly. But Sunday it was more like March than June. They had SNOW up on the mountain, but it was gone by Monday. IT’s gonna warm up this week. By Father’s day we’ll be in the high 80s, maybe 90. Adele, your pool looks inviting on hot days!!! I’ll be right out!! LOL Dogs love water!! I was raised with Black Labs & they LOVED getting into the water. My dad had them for duck hunting. My brother had one, Thea, & he’d take her down to the river & she didn’t want to get out! There’s a funny story about Thea & me I’ll tell it another time.

I got my shipment of Philosophy that was on the waitlist. It’s the coconut splash. It’s a lovely scent. I’ve already put the cream on all over.
Critt is still in the hospital. I’m not sure he’ll be coming home anytime soon, if ever. They haven’t put him into rehab as yet. It doesn’t sound good for him. Personally, I think he needs to be in assisted living. He doesn’t take care of himself. He’s a walking pharmacy.
      I’ll keep ya posted.
I guess I’ve bored you all enough for today.

      Hi Sue
I am glad you finished the PT, and sorry you were not able to get good results. I am praying you never get as bad as Gary did. Maybe if the stenosis holds at this level, and does not get worst, you can “adjust your sails”, as I say. (I have a sign that says we cannot control the wind, we can adjust the sails) Not the best, but not the worst. Does your neck cause you any pain? I hope not.
We had the same kind of weather. It was very chilly last night- in the low 50’s, and by mid afternoon, I had to put the air back on. It is to get very humid by tomorrow, and in the 90’s over the weekend.
I am supposed to meet Nancy for lunch on Thursday, and Friday, hopefully get to breakfast with Gary, both of us get our hair cut, and then pick up my new glasses. I will need them as I will be doing non stop needlepoint in the gross humid weather….LOL
AGt is on tonight, and then the dance show. I really love those shows. So nice to see positive things, and the acts on AGT can be hysterical.
Hope you had a good day- you did get a lot done, and that is very good. Hope you are not too sore!

      DD, DD, DD!!
You are not boring us. We are all very interested in your life, and well being.
Here are a few hints form Bobby…….all clothing, and anything made of material, has to be washed, dried, and sealed in plastic bags. That’s the worst. You have to stay out of the apartment for at least 4 hours, with your pretty kitty.
I am so sorry you have to go through this again. My heart goes out to yo, as it is so much work to pack everything up, after it is washed, and seal it. I would cry.
I am so sorry about Critt. how has Kay been? It is awful that your good frineds are not well. I say a prayer for them all the time too.
I owuld love to hear the story about you and the puppy. Luna had a ball here again. She was in the pool a few times.
I got a notice form the Q that he Temptations round muffin pans will not be in. I hate when that happens too.
Don’t forget to watch AGT and the dance show….fun, fun, fun…..LOL

      Hi DD,
That is terrible that you are going to have to go thru this again. That first woman did not do her job and just caused you a lot of problems That is good that she is not there anymore and they will have a professional there to do it this time. I hope that they find someone to come and help you with the packing I can understand how that can be tiring. Even just thinking about it would make you want to take a nap.
Sounds like they at least got the parade in. That is crazy that you have rain on one day and the next there is snow. this weather is really crazy now days. It is just hot and humid here and it is going to stay like that until fall.
You are not boring us at all. We are glad to hear from you. That is just the way things are for all of us right now. It is nice that we can talk to each other and about it and not let it drive us crazy.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
You sound just like me. I put things away and forget where I put it. This is how bad that I am. I went to a sale one year and bought sweat shirts for my grands. Well I put them away so I could find them really easily and give them to the kids for Christmas. Well I forgot about them and by the time that I found them again the younger grands fit in them instead of the ones that I bought them for. It is really sad. I hope that you find your suit and can go swimming and have fun with the kids.
That is funny that Luna goes right into the pool and jumps in. It is nice that Marissa and Amanda came over to go swimming also. It is nice that they come over to swim and you get to see more of them. They are good about helping you with things that you need done also. It would be nice if we had a pool so the kids could come here and go swimming. We really need to have one.
Sometimes it is good to get that stuff off your chest. It is hard to go thru that and we all have gone thru something similar. Maybe not the exact thing but we all have had our ups and downs. I know that my kids do not have halo’s over their heads. So you should just share when you feel like it.
It is just hot here and humid. we did not get the rain that we were supposed to get and that was aggravating. We need the rain but not the storms. We did get our first tomato out of the garden yesterday. It is a chocolate tomato. The color is chocolate but it tastes like a cherry tomato. THey do not get any bigger then a cherry tomato gets. It is really interesting.I wonder if anyone else has tried them.
I really hope that Barbara gets the results soon. I know that it has to be bugging her not knowing. Doctors are just too slow with the results. wish that there was a way to speed them up. I pray for all the Quackers also. We all need all the prayers that can be said for us.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

You do not bore us. I’m so sorry that this is happening again. Just thinking of packing everything up is exhausting. I hope that you can get some help.
I liked the coconut splash better than the hula girl. But I think my favorite is still fresh cream. When I wear it i feel like I am in a bowl of fresh whipped cream. lol
I hope that the spraying gets over quickly and you and Jewell can get back to normal and enjoy the summer.

      Hi Sue,
I’m sorry to hear about you not being able to regain the strength in your legs. I know Greg has the same complaint and his is from the stenosis also. His feet and lower part of his legs are numb too. The last shot in the back at least gave him enough relief to feel better for awhile. Have you had anything like that? Do you have hearing loss too? Getting older sure is not for the faint of heart. Every day seems to bring a new challenge. We all learn to cope as best we can but it is sad that we cannot do the things that we used to do.

      Colleen,
The kids do not know what is going on yet as Adam is still living in the house-just in the basement bedroom. Gabby and Enya know as they are older and even though they don’t live with them they are too old to hide something like that from them. I don’t know exactly when they plan to tell them. I suppose when Adam is ready to move out.
We don’t really have plans for Father’s Day. I think we had those chocolate cherry tomatoes last year. I think we had purple ones too. To me it was hard to tell when they were ripe. But I’ll take any garden tomatoes that I can get.

      Hi Adele,
I will try this again. I was posting to you and all of a sudden it disappeared and the post I had made to Sue took it’s place. What!
So i will try again if I can remember what i was saying.
I was saying perscription meds can be dangerous too. Look at Brent’s wife who accidentally overdosed on her headache medicines. How sad. It still chills me when I think of him waking up next to her and finding her gone. So people need to be really really careful with their pain meds too.
On a lighter note-I’m so glad Luna is enjoying the pool. She looks to maybe be part lab and lots of times hunting dogs love water. Except out Abby who was part springer and part golden but didn’t really like to swim. Belle the little peekapoo loved the water. Go figure! You know Greg never wanted an above ground pool but I took him to The Great Escape and showed him that we can get one that is partially buried and he was finally all ready to pull the trigger on it. However, I thought we should wait to see how things play out with Jenny as we may need to help her to buy the house to avoid having to move the kids away from the neighborhood that they love. So I’m shooting for next spring and getting an early start on it so we can have it in by the hot weather. Fingers crossed that all will work out and nothing else will intervene.
I did have to have a nice long nap on Monday after the busy weekend. Yesterday I was out and about because I had to take my car in for a recall and the dealership is a ways away. One thing nice about the Mercedes dealership is they wash the car for you after you have it serviced. I love those nice little touches. I have weathertech mats and they even took those out and washed them.
Last night Lachlan had a baseball game so we went to that. it’s so slow moving in this first year of pitch ball. Haven’t been to one of Pip’s games yet as I was sick last week. Still have a little cough and runny nose but i am out and about at least.
I need to take in one of my glasses too as a lens feel out the other week. good thing I have a spare pair. Anymore i rarely wear my contacts at home. I use them mostly for going out.

Hello dear friends, I am finally back. As far as I know I am okay. I still do not have the results of the ultrasound back, was called by the dr. office yesterday and said they dr. wants to go over the results of the test, but the first opening they have is late next week. Well, this to me is good; since I believe if it was something bad she would insist on seeing me sooner, and my “problem” went away after I changed from one medicine to another to keep my blood from being too thick. I have been just a nervous wreck; and all this running back and forth to doctors has been so hard on us. And I know that you all have lots of things going on in your lives too, and I have just been so self centered that I haven’t been able to even think straight. I am sorry because your prayers have been so important and have meant so much. SO I will go back next week, and between now and then I don’t plan to think about being sick or scared. I will continue to pray for all of you each day, and your trials that you are facing.
Sue, please keep on with your work on your knee. Sorry for the discouraging report, but hang in there. I know you are disappointed. And DD, so sorry to hear of your “bug” problems. THis is just terrible. I know you feel like throwing up your hands. It just looks like your complex would have to be responsible for paying for someone to come in and do all of this for you; since this is bound to be an infestation from within the building. Please don’t hurt yourself doing too much. Loved your kitty peeking over the cooler picture. Is that Jewell? She is beautiful. I know I have seen her photo but with a haircut. Colleen, sorry for your family troubles. Boy, am I the last person in the world to offer any advice on the matters of the heart. Our Joey is 3 weeks away from marrying someone I know in my heart he doesn’t love much. Lisa just yells and since he didn’t go to a baby shower thing with her the other night (he said he would but when he was getting ready she was mad, and said “you don’t really want to go”, and he said thats true, those friends of yours like you not me) so she left him at home. Now she isn’t speaking to him, I think. People just wouldn’t believe some of this. Jerry said to me one night that we sound like we just fell off a wagon, but we are smart, educated people and are being treated like a couple of bafoons. Think he pretty well summed it up. Sorry Colleen, didn’t mean to go off in left field. All that I have been able to think about here recently is that 4 years ago I was about to have a massive stroke, and how I want to live. So forgive me.
Gail, I hope you are better. Poor Brent has and you all have faced such loss, and you seem to look at life with such grace. You are such a strong woman, and it shows even when you are in pain.
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. I am so proud to have all of you as my dear dear friends. I love you all and wish so much we could find Pablo so he could pick us out a beautiful peaceful spot for us to relax and sit, chat, and sip. Hugs to you all, Barbara

      Hi Gail,
Maybe if Adam is still in the house there is a chance that this will all work out. We are still praying that things will turn out good for everyone. If they get back together or not just everyone will be happy.
We had the purple tomatoes also. I really like those but Ron didn’t. I do not know what they are really called but around here they call them Amish tomatoes. We have has some Amish people move in around here. THey have a store and they always have really good products in there and a lot of fresh baked bread. The only thing that they do not have is the Amish peanut butter. It has marshmallow in it and it is really sweet. The kids all really liked it.
I wish that Ron would say that he wanted a pool. I would go out and get one right away. They have one at K Mart that I would love to have. I may have to just get it and not tell Ron until it is delivered. Then what can he say.
We finally found an electrician that will come over and look at our electrical problem. I am so happy to finally to get this taken care of. It will be nice to have electric in every room.
That is nice that you are out and about again. I hope that you are feeling really good and do not have a relapse. Just take care of yourself and do not over do it. I am really getting to be a gloom and doom type of person here lately. I really need to get over this.
My niece that had cancer a few years ago was told the other day that her cancer is back. She has it in both lungs and the top of her pelvis. So could use some prayers for her. They think that they caught it right away so we are praying that they can get all of this and she will be okay.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara.
At least things sound like they are better for you. I hope that this will be an easy fix. There are so many things that they can do to fix this problem. I hope that the hysterectomy is not something that you will have to have. I still have all my female parts also. I do not think that I would want to go thru that again.
You have good advice. We all have family troubles and we can all help each other thru this. It is good to be able to talk to each other. It is a help to know that others have problems also. So any advice is good advice. You have been thru it.
You would have to be smart. You could never have become an RN. Jerry had to be smart also he married you. So do not think that anyone thinks that you just fell off the wagon. I go off like that at times also. Just different things come up and we just have to get it out there and then not worry about it again.
We have a lightening bug in the house. I saw this green light blinking on and off and it was that dumb thing. I could not figure out what light would be flashing on and off like that in here. It is a really small light at that.
Will be praying for Joey and Lisa. Hope that they are going the right thing and it will all work out in the end. I know that it worries you and not without reason. Just hang in there my friend. We cannot tell our kids what to do anymore and that is that is the hardest thing to deal with.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Barbara,
I’m so glad that your mind is feeling more at ease. I will continue to pray that your problem is quickly and easily resolved.
I know what you and Jerry feel about people not thinking that you have any wise advice to give. Greg and I have felt the same way with Jenny going through this divorce. The only reason we know anything is because Adam talks to us. Jenny would rather just talk to her girlfriends about what is going on. I guess all our wisdom of life doesn’t count when it is our own adult kids. it seems like they would rather us not know what is going on in their lives-unless they need something from us.
Oh, well. It is what it is and I’m not going to shed any more tears over something that i cannot change. As Colleen says, we can no longer tell our adult kids what to do-we just have to sit back and watch them make their own mistakes. I just sort of resent having to pick up the broken pieces. Life goes on whether I like what is happening or not. Enough of that.
I’m just glad that you have joined us again. I’m ready for some beach time and a cool beverage too.

      Hi Colleen,
I agree with you and you had some good words of wisdom for Barbara. Sometimes adult children are harder than little kids!
There’s no chance of them getting back together. Jenny has already filed for divorce. She wants Adam out but he has no place to live yet. The place where he wants to get an apartment doesn’t have an opening until August i think. Besides, Adam watches the kids during the day when she is at work so even if he didn’t live there he would have to go over every day to watch the kids anyway-so it’s just as easy this way. I don’t know why she is in such a hurry unless she plans on moving the boyfriend right in. We have no idea what is going on other than through Adam as she doesn’t talk to us about any of this. We have no idea what she is thinking or feeling or planning-which is heartbreaking for me especially as i always thought we were close-but evidently we aren’t as she talks to her girlfriends about this stuff but won’t say a word to us. We are just good for financial help and picking up the pieces. Do I sound resentful-well I am. I especially feel sorry for Greg as he is having such a hard time reconciling himself to this. I thought it would help when he found out another of the Choirboy’s daughter is getting divorced too but it hasn’t. I think both of us are having the hardest time with the affair and the way she is treating Adam so badly. We could understand falling out of love and feeling mismatched but you can break up a marriage in a more kindly manner than she seems to be doing-especially since she is the one at fault. it’s like we don’t recognize this person. I at least have accepted that it’s going to happen and am trying to make the best of a bad situation but Greg just is having the hardest time with acceptance and i feel so bad for him. I have tried to tell him he has to think of himself and it’s no reason to make himself sick over something that is going to happen anyway. Logically he knows that but emotionally he is still struggling. Enough of this!
The Amish store sounds so good. Do you ever buy any of the jams or jellies?
You should surprise Ron with the pool for Father’s Day. lol It would really be a surprise.
I’m glad that you are getting your electricity fixed. We are still having trouble with the internet-they must have done something for us to go from regular service to no signal most of the time and having to use our phones for a mobile hot spot. The last time the guy closed our file without doing anything. Their customer service sucks! Plus now we have a terrible buzz in our landline so someone is supposed to come and fix that too. Between the phone and internet and cell service i feel like I can’t communicate with anyone. lol Plus it’s hard to shop online when the service can disappear any second.
Hope everyone got to see the Quacker shows that were on. I couldn’t pass up the tie dye shirt. Reminds me of my youth.
I will keep your niece in my prayers. She has been through a lot.

      Hi Colleen
Thank you for the kind words. It is hard when your child does something against everything you stand for.
I was on a cooking craze yesterday, so I did not get on here. I made the mac salad, then later baked chicken with potatoes, and green beans. The salad came out even better this time. Funny how one batch never comes out the same way time after time.
It has been very sticky up here, and supposed to get less humid later today. Now it is very cloudy, and I keep getting coastal flood alerts on the laptop. No rain yet.
I was supposed to go out with Nancy today, and I woke up with an awful headache, and I am very dizzy when I walk, so I didn’t dare drive today, nor go out in the humidity. I will see her on Monday, as an old friend is in town, and will meet a lot of us for dinner. So, I am just doing needlepoint today.
the needlepoint Halloween ornaments came yesterday, they are adorable. I have to hurry and finish my last of the 4 small ones, so I can get them framed. I am about a third done with the last one….LOL
There are no sprouts from the asparagus yet. have you grown asparagus? How long will it take to see some stems?
Hope your day is good….tyring to rush to read all the posts…

      Hey Gailster!
It is awful when our plans have to change because of our kids. On the other hand, it is good we can help them when things happen. I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you to get the pool next year. I hope Colleen gets one too.
I am waiting to have a hot day, when Bobby is nearby, to try to get in and out of the pool, with the new stairs. I would hate to have to dial 911…whale in pool and can’t get out…..LOL
I had a Quacker meltdown yesterday….ordered the new fringe crop, with the jacket and the flamingo shirt. I really did not need another jacket, but, I loved the fringe and the orange color. I just wish they had pants to match it.
My birds have been eating the food so fats, that I had to order more from Walmart. Gary thinks the squirrel is the real culprit. I swear, I ahve the biggest squirrel anyone has ever seen. yesterday, he was having a tubby in the bird bath….LOL Bobby has seen him dive bomb to the feeder from the rock wall.
I know you are not looking forward to the little ones finding out their Dad is leaving. The wait for the other shoe to drop is very nerve wracking. How has Jenny been doing?
I hope you feel all better, so you can make the games. I hate missing anything for the kids.
hope your day is going well.

I seemed to have missed something. What happened to Colleen’s niece?
I hope Greg will soon be able to deal with Jenny’s divorce. It must be so difficult for him, and you. everyone’s lives are goign to be disrupted. One can only hope Jenny is not very, very sorry later. It is not easy to be a single mother, and she will learn that as she goes along. I am still pryaing for Jenny and the kids, as well as you and Greg. It feels like prayer is all we have on some days.

How have your legs been feeling? I know we have humidity here, and it makes us feel worst. I hope the humidity is gone for your area. everyone is right. Please do not give up. Sometimes it takes a lot longer than we think. It is discouraging, for sure.
      Hope you are ok.

      DD’
How is the prep going? I hope they sent you a team to help, as this is not your fault at all. you do not go anywhere to get those bugs in your house. there is nothing worst than having to pack up your whole house, like you are moving. Plus, your poor kitty must be as stressed out as you are. I hope this ordeal is over soon. Also hope you are feeling ok.

      Barbara
I feel the same way as you. If it were something bad, you would get an appointment that very day. I pray that it was the medication that did it. that woudl be the best answer of all. Also so happy that it stopped.
Regarding Joey and Lisa. What man loves to go to a shower? They would rather stick a needle in their eye! Seriously?
You do not sound like you just fell off the turnip truck. You sound like parents who are hurt and concerned. We can only pray that your feelings are wrong, and that they will be a happy couple. But, if they are not happy now, how can a license make a difference? We can still hope, no matter what.
I hope you and Jerry will get to do something nice this weekend. We still have not decided.
Oh….I have some good news. At the edges of my hair, above my forehead, I am getting “peach fuzz”. I am hoping the hair will start to grow on the crown of my head too….LOL

Don’t worry ladies I will keep trying but it just gets a bit frustrating when you work very hard & do not show improvement. I have my last day with the therapist tomorrow. I baked them some brownie mallow bars to take them tomorrow. I miss having people to cook & bake for as I used to make things & take to work.
Today was beautiful but I could have done without the wind. It rained yesterday but today was sunny & nice 80 degrees but the humidity was low but it will be back.
I went & had my hearing checked today. He said I have some nerve damage but the stapedectomy is still working. He cleared some hard wax out of my ears. The next thing will be hearing aids. I am going to hold off a while as they are so expensive. After I was done there I picked up a few things at the grocery store. Then I went & bought some fresh strawberries. I usually get tomatoes there too but they are not ready yet. Then I went to OIP and got a salad for my dinner. Then I came home ate that & made the brownies. So now I am a bit tired so will take it easy the rest of the night.

      Hi Gail,
I hope that this all works out and the kids can handle it okay. I just wonder if Piper has sensed that something is wrong. They do not go places as a family anymore and little ones have a way of sensing things. I just wondered when she wanted to know where Greg was and had to go find him.
I wonder if deep down Jenny knows that she is not doing the right thing. She could have handled it different and she should have told you before Adam did. It is just a sad thing to watch and go thru. I just hope that she talks to you. I do not think that she is not as close to you it is she is doing something that she should not be doing. There is was a better way to do that and she knows that. I just hope that Greg can stop worrying about this. It is not his fault or yours, You just have to go on and take care of those grands.
i have bought their jellies and jams and there sugar free pies. They make the best pies and cakes that are sugar free. It is just hard to get to their store all the time. They are off on some back roads. They are like the other Amish stores all over the place.
I have not watched the Quacker shows yet. I have them taped though. So will watch them tonight and see what they have. Tie dye does go back away. I can remember all of us wearing those shirts.
You have Verizon like we do. They are not the best in the world. If we could find someone else we would. They are getting more companies that are coming out this way but not out to our place yet.
I know that what you are going thru is really hard. Just hang in there it will all work out and Jenny will talk to you one day about all of this. Then you know why it took her so long to tell you. Our kids can be a pain sometimes.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
We had that mac salad the other day also. We added black olives and the chicken salad again. It was really good and we ate all of it again. I am so glad that you shared your recipe with us. We have really been enjoying it.
It is like that here. I wish that we would get more rain and less humidity. We got some rain tonight but not enough to make a difference. If we do not get more we will have to start watering our garden. We did have a fresh tomato out of the garden today though. It was really good so much better then the ones that we get in the store. I hope that I have enough to make my spaghetti sauce. Everybody likes it and wants me to freeze some again this summer. They like to have it for the summer.
I hope that you feel better tomorrow. It is always disappointing when you have to miss going out with a friend. You were smart not to drive. Old age is really a pain. How did we get like this.
If you just planted the asparagus it will not come up this year. When we planted ours it took two to three years for us to get a good crop. You can ask Gail she has grown asparagus also. It takes awhile but once it starts it will be really good.
My niece that had the breast cancer has cancer again. She has it in both lungs and the top of her pelvis. It is just so sad and we are hoping that they can get it all and this time that will be all of it. It is good that all of her kids are grown and she just has two in college. They both got scholarships so she does not have to worry about that. They have her on an experimental drug right now and trying to see if it will help. So we are just praying that she comes thru this okay.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

You had a busy day. I hope your brownies were delicious. Did you eat one with ice cream on top? Yum, yum. I love brownies. I ahve been wanting to make a batch for a week. I think you are inspiring me to do some.
I am glad you are not giving up. You are a strong lady. Go Sue!
Guess what! I finally got to breakfast this morning with Gary, and when we were leaving, a bunch of ladies waiting for a table quacked at me….quack quack!
I hope your hearing lasts for many, many years. Hearing aids are very expensive.
Hope your day is going well.

that is just awful about your niece. I will pray for her too.
I am so happy you like the mac salad. I think everyone will add their favorites. Amanda and her friend Jeffrey stopped by yesterday, and they loved the salad too.
Holy crap! I was dying for the asparagus to come up. good to know, as I would have disposed of the roots….LOL Dam. They should have that notice in the packaging materials for asparagus, so people are aware of it’s peculiarities.
I did feel better. Went out with Gary today- to breakfast, got my glasses, and got my hair cut. She cut a lot of the hair off, and did more layers, so it would look fuller while it grows back. She said she saw some new growth on top of my head, which is good too. Maybe I will be lucky, and it will all grow back.
We have had dark, gloomy sky, and a few sprinkles of rain. We need a good rain shower too. But, I know we have had a lot more rain than you have.
Still not sure what to do on Sunday. It will be 090 and humid. I would hate for Bobby to cook out there in that heat. I am so undecided.
I hope you r day is goign well.
      Adele

      Hi Adele,
You should put that recipe on a cooking site. They may want to make it also. Everyone that eats it really likes it. I may fix it at one of the family meals and everyone can try it here also.
We felt the same way when we first planted ours. It is worth the wait though and it will taste so much better then what you buy at the store. There are so many different ways to fix it. We have had it on the grill before also.
That is so great that your hair is growing back. Sounds like you had a really nice day today. That is nice that you and Gary went to breakfast. I bet that you really enjoyed going out.
We have a heat warning here until Monday. So we will not be doing much. It was so hot today and no one wanted to go outside. We did not even go out and check our mail. Will check it in the morning. Just have to keep calling my mom and making sure that she is okay. The air went out on our jeep so we do not go many places in this heat. We had a guy put some Freon in it but he said that he does not know how long that it will last. So we will have some air when we go to meet Danyielle for lunch. Just hope that it will last until we can get the other car running. We now have a Malibu. Ron’s sister gave it to him. It needs some work but it is a really nice car. Her husband is too ill to try and fix it and they bought a new car. It will just be nice to have a car that gets good mileage and has air conditioning in it.
That is so cool that you got quacked at. I still am waiting to see if someone will quack at me. It has not happened yet. It will though I am sure of that.
We will fix something inside this year. It is going to be too hot here also. I am not sure what it will be. We may all be cooking inside this year. We will not go out to eat twice. Since we are going out tomorrow do not think that we will want to go out again.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Today must be my lucky day. First off I got notification that I had won 2 free books. Then in the mail was coupons for a free 6″ hoagie & a free Gatorade from our local Minute mart. So that will be my dinner. Maybe I should play the lottery. Oh I forgot the grocery stores gives points for cents off gas so I had enough to get 50 cents a gallon off & that is handy now that gas is over 3.00 a gallon. I also wanted to use them before some of them expired.

I also buy the Dole chopped salad kits. My favorite is the sunflower crunch. It has the following in it cabbage, romaine lettuce, kale, red cabbage, green onions carrots. Then included is a small packet of sunflower seeds & a small packet of bacon bits & then sweet onion & citrus dressing. I really love this dressing but you could use any dressing you prefer. Today I added some cherry tomatoes & cucumbers. So you can add more things to your liking. The other kits are good too but this one is my favorite.
Anyway just some ideas for summer cooking.

      Sue,
Thanks for the salad recipes. Greg is not a broccoli fan but the other two sound delicious. All these different salads are good summer time eating and the ones with greens are good for Greg’s paleo diet. I’ll keep my eye out for those Dole salad kits. Those sound delicious. I am making a new salad recipe for tomorrow’s dinner. I will post the recipe later if i get the time.
Congrats on the two book win! Isn’t it fun? In May I won two regular books and two kindle books. And in April another from Bookreporter .com. I entered that contest for the book about the five people you invite to dinner. When you read it let me know how you liked it. I like that Goodreads reminds you if there’s a giveaway for a book on your TBR list.

      Hi Colleen,
This damn site did the disappearing post on me again. GRRRR!
Anyway, I was saying thank you for the kind words-they helped me a lot.
Piper did ask Adam why they weren’t doing things as a family anymore. So even the little ones are noticing.
You’re probably right. Jenny doesn’t want to talk about what is going on because she is ashamed of her behavior. Plus if she opened up a dialogue she might hear some things from us that she doesn’t want to accept-so it’s easier to keep us at arm’s length. It’s just so hard when we see her now as there are so many things being left unsaid. it’s uncomfortable.
We got a nice note form Gabby thanking us for her graduation gift and saying in spite of what is going on she will always think of us as family. it was very heartwarming and a mature thought for a young girl.
Yes we have Verizon too and it’s been stinking lately. Someone’s supposed to come out Tuesday. We had a guy from AT and T fixing our landline and Greg was talking to him and he said we can get internet from them now so I think Greg is looking into it. It would be a mess though because our phones and internet are on the same program as our business partner and it is all charged to the business so that would be a lot of messing around to change it all.
Hope you are having a good Father’s Day-plus didn’t you go out for your anniversary too? How was all that?

      Hi Adele,
That’s good news on the hair front. I’m glad it is growing back. It’s bad enough all the other things that we suffer as we grow older-at least the fates could let us keep our hair.
I would bet it is the squirrels who are getting at the feeders. You should have seen all the different feeders we went through trying to find something that was squirrel proof. lol Of course the birds can eat the food pretty fast on their own.
Yes, you won’t have asparagus for another two to three years but it is worth the wait. Also, you can’t pick it all summer. You can start pretty early in the spring and then about half way through June we stop picking and let it go to seed so there is a crop the next year. We are just about done picking for the year about now.
Greg is barbecuing ribs for dinner tonight since that is one of his favorites. I eat two or three and then I am done but he can use the leftovers for lunch this week and it will go with his paleo diet. Can you believe he now eats eggs every morning-honestly, I just couldn’t do that. I would be so sick of eggs. Personally, I like my English muffin bread toast. We’ll have veggies and dip and corn on the cob too-or probably I’ll have corn on the cob. lol
We went out last night for Chinese food. We hadn’t had that for awhile. When we were leaving the people that run the place said come back soon-you haven’t been in for quite awhile and we missed you. That was weird that they remembered us as we go there but not real frequently. Maybe they all have photographic memories as it is family run and the waitress never writes orders down-even if it is a big table and she always gets things right.
So we go to Piper’s game Thursday night and she wants Jenny to stand next to her the whole time-on the field-when she bats etc. I don’t know if this extra clinginess is caused by the divorce or what. Of course last year when Jenny and Kelly were coaches Piper and Isla always wanted their mother’s to hold them. It’s just so weird as she is usually so independent. I told her she had to go out on the field and play though because I came it watch her and I wasn’t going to come if she wasn’t playing. She said-but I want you to come-so I said then you have to play-you’re a good runner and hitter and you have to get out there and help your team. So we’ll see how this coming week goes. I feel sorry for Jenny as it’s kind of embarrassing. I’ve been doing so good but the last couple of days I find myself getting teary eyed. Maybe because it’s Father’s Day and I’m feeling for both Adam and the kids.
So get this-Greg and his buddies go golfing this morning-he said the course was busy-what a shock! It’s Father’s Day! Anyway, he comes home and I’m sitting at the kitchen table writing a grocery list. Five minutes later i feel something on my calf and I go to brush it off and I can’t because whatever it is is clinging to my leg. So I jump up and scream what’s on my leg-I think it’s a tick! So he looks and grabs it off-it hadn’t embedded yet but it was getting ready to and takes it outside and kills it. so I am the only person who can get a tick on themselves sitting at their kitchen table. I hadn’t been outdoors at all-in fact I was still in my pajamas. So he must have brought it in from golfing and it crawled onto me somehow. I swear-you’ve heard of a chick magnet-I’m a tick magnet. I got one another time just walking to the mailbox and back-how does that happen? Don’t ask me.
Well now that I’ve grossed you all out haha-
Happy Father’s Day to all father’s and husbands and pet fathers and step fathers and foster fathers!

      Hi Ladies,
Sorry I’ve been off the grid lately. It’s getting hot out here. It was supposed to be hot yesterday, but we had thunderstorms & showers instead.
Be careful of those ticks. I hear they can carry all sorts of diseases. I haven’t seen any out here, but that’s not to say we don’t have them.
The prep isn’t going. I look at what I need to do & I want to light a match to it sometimes. LOL
I just wanted to let you know I’m still around. I’m having issues with Comcast. So what else is new!!!
      Take care everyone.

      Hi Sue,
You really are on a roll. All the luck that you had yesterday and now finding the recipes for salad. They look really good thanks for posting. I will try both of them. We also buy those Dole salads. It is nice not to have to chop up all those veggies and can just add if you want to.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Gail,
You may have to open the conversation with Jenny. Just tell her you miss her and that you want to talk for awhile. Then just let the conversation go where it will. It will make it hard for the kids if you two do not get this fixed. Just let her know that you want to see your grands and her and be able to have a nice time. That is sad about Piper and the game. You did the right thing telling her if you go to the game you want to see her play. It would make things easier if they would just tell the kids and not let them figure it out on there own.
That was so sweet that Gabby sent you that nice note. At least you will hear from them and know what is going on in their lives. They really are nice girls.
I wish that we could find another company to get our phone and internet thru. Hopefully one will come down our way. They have att at the beginning of the road but it stops half way down. They are also trying to get cable out this way. That will give us another option. It does not make sense that they do not come our way.
We did go out on our anniversary. We went to Cracker Barrel and had a nice lunch. Then yesterday we went to Kat fish Kettle for lunch with Danyielle and Aliza. We had a really nice dinner, Then they came back to the house to visit for awhile. The cat hid from Aliza the whole day. So that was nice we did not have to worry about him biting her. The minute she saw Ron she went running to him yelling grandpa. There is just something between those two. She wants to be with him all the time. When we first went in the restaurant she sat in his lap until the food came. She also had to have her chair close to him. I do not know what the big thing is with her and Ron but she really is crazy about him.
You must have made a good impression on the people at the restaurant. That is nice that they said all that. It makes you want to go there more often. It sounds like a really nice place.
We have tics around her also. They are really a pain when they get on you. Ron brings them in the house with him after being outside. Then he passes them on to me. He is so sharing. So that is probably where you got your tic from Greg. I hate those little things.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
It is good to hear from you. Was starting to wonder if you are okay. These internet companies are really a pain. They do not have to worry about losing people as customers where else are you going to go.
That makes it hard when you have to pack all those things up again in your apartment. You really must be tired of that. That is just terrible that you have to go thru this again. Hope that they send someone to help you with all the packing soon,. I hope that you have a place to go to while they do the spraying.
This company should do a much better job then that woman did.
Take care also and have a good night.

      Hi DD,
The tick didn’t attach before I found it so I am okay. Plus I made Greg
wipe down the whole back of my leg with hydrogen peroxide after that. lol
I wish we could all come out and help you with your prep. That would make short work of it.
I hope they finally get it done right this time.
I guess this must be the time for problems with internet providers as Verizon has been making us crazy.
What a cute picture of Jewell peeking out from her bed or perch. Not sure what that is.

      Hi Colleen,
I’m glad that the cat hid from Aliza. It made for a more peaceful day. I think that is sweet that she is so attached to Ron. It must make him so happy too. They will always have a special bond.
Greg was so happy barbecuing his ribs yesterday. He said all the guys he golfed with were barbecuing different things yesterday. I said the wives are smart-they know the guys love to barbecue so they get them something to cook and they make their own meal on Father’s Day. lol
We have been having a heat wave. it’s finally supposed to cool off tomorrow. The AC can finally get a break.
I saw that Saint Louis is going to be really hot today-so you must get similar weather.
I do love summer-even the hot as long as I can be indoors in the AC. I love all the hours of daylight. The older I get the more I am affected by the darkness of winter.
Piper has a game tonight. I hope that she will play.

      Hi Colleen
Sorry I have not been on. I did not even out the computer on yesterday. I have been trying to get The needlepoint done so I can take advantage of the 50 off sale.
Bobby did a bbq yesterday. It was only the 4 of us, and Heather. The girls were working, and Jhonny, Steph and the kids went to an amusement park, which was so nice for the boys. Everyone called to talk to Gary, and he was kind of pleased with a quiet day….LOL
Carissa and Enzo are here- they are in the pool with Luna. Enzo has the day off.
We are under a heat advisory, with thunderstorms later. I am meeting Nancy and a few others for dinner tonight, as one of our old friends is in Mass. for the week. I hate goign out in this weather- yuck! Hope the restaurant is nice and cool.
Our old Jeep had quite a few compressors replaced, as they were always broken. I think the 2005’s had problems with the air.
I love the summer salads. Fruit salad is so yummy and refreshing too.
Hope Ron’s Fathers Day was good!

      Hey Gail
Of course you are getting teary eyed. I would say you cry at anything and everything right now. how could you not? I also get how you are embarrassed for Jenny. When the news gets out to everyone, it is going to be harder than she realizes. I bet yesterday was very hard on Adam, and the whole family.
I hope Piper was able to play for her team this week. Even though they have not been told, they would know something is up by now. I hope Greg has been able to get some sleep. Was he very sad yesterday? i was thinking about all of you yesterday, and hoping you could all still enjoy the day.
It sounds like the owners of the Chinese restaurant like you and Greg a lot. How could they not? I wonder if they had bets on hos sparkly you would be each time you went in to eat.
I so wish there were some magic words to say to make you and Greg feel better. We are so powerless in these situations. We know what is coming, and try to advise them to head off the future pain, and the kids just cannot see the forest for the trees. i think that is the hardest of all. To realize they are making a terrible mistake, and have no way of intervening to stop them. All we can do is pray, and there are days that just does not seem like enough.
Speaking of praying…….I called all my legislators to give my outrage at what is happening with those children at the border. So, this morning I called our Governor, and said this…..”we send EMT’s Firemen, Police and the National Guard to other states when tragedy strikes. Why can’t we mobilize the retired social workers and teachers, and send them to volunteer in Texas so these babies can be held, and have their diapers changed? This is a human emotional tragedy, and we need to help.” I also said I can no longer watch this, without doing something. they were very nice, and said they will pass that along to our Governor. He is a good man, and I know he will consider the options to extend a hand. At least I hope he will.
I can’t believe you got a tick in your kitchen! Dam, girlfriend. You need “Bobby Bugs”to come down there, and exterminate the whole property. That is what his friends call him….LOL It is not funny that you keep getting ticks on you. You do not even have a dog! What is up with that? Do you need to wear one of those tick repellent dog collars?
Hey- how has Brent been doing?
Hope Greg had a good day yesterday.
Read my other posts for the other news of the day….LOL

I am glad you are ok. I am sorry you have to go through all this awful prep, and stress. I hope you get a really good crew to help you. I am sure you are getting a little depressed by all of this. You are in my thought every day.
Comcast is miserable when things go wrong. I wonder if the wires in your building are too old. The older wiring cannot keep up with the improvements in technology they have made over the years.
We are getting the awful heat today.
It is so nice of you to post the pretty pictures, even when you do not feel so great right now. I hope you find something each day to smile at. everyone deserves a smile.

      Hey Gailster
I agree with the kind words of Colleen. You need to try to open the dialogue between you and Jenny. It will be good for all of you. But, it is much easier said than done. I know the right words will come out of your mouth, as they are in there. You always speak so eloquently when one of us has a family problem. My Nonna always said, when God closes one door, he opens another. I recently heard someone add this to that phrase….we just have to be open enough to walk through it.
I think you could use one of my inspirational signs, the one I read almost every day….”Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass. It is about learning to dance in the rain”. Dance Gailster, dance your little heart out. Preferably to one of Greg’s songs, with him as your loving partner.
I would have been right over for Greg’s bbq ribs. I love those, and nobody ever makes them over here. Maybe because I look like a little piggy when I eat them??? LOL
      Love, Adele

      Hi Gail,
It was nice that the cat hid all day. He usually tries to bite her and chases her out of the room. I guess it is he chasing her but you can never tell. They neither one like each other. At least there was not any hissing. The dogs will come to her though.
That really does work out good when the husbands do the cooking on fathers day.It is good that they all like to bbq. The bbq ribs sound really good. Did you have to do any cooking or did you put everything on the grill? I like the veggies grilled also. They have such a good taste. We got some of those gold sheets that you can lay on the grill and cook the veggies on it. They really are a big help. I cannot remember what they call them, They use to sell them on the q. I am not sure if they do anymore or not.
We are having a lot of heat here also. They have had heat warnings out for the last few days. It is supposed to end by tomorrow. I really hope that they are right. Sounds like yours is coming to an end also. This weather is crazy.
Hope that Piper does better tonight playing in the game. Maybe she will go out on the field and not have any problems.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
That is fine that you were not on here. You had a lot of important things to do. I hope that you are all done now and can order more before the sale ends. Just enjoy doing you needle point.
we must have been the only people in the states that did not bbq yesterday. We had corn medely for dinner that is Ron’s favorite meal. It is just corn, bacon, garlic and zucchini mixed in a skillet. I found that recipe a long time ago and Ron has been eating it ever since. He likes it right after we start getting zucchini. We have gotten some of it out of the garden already.
The restaurant will probably be nice and cool. They usually keep them so cold. I hope that all of you have a great time. Hope that you get something new and exciting to eat.
I am going to try one of Sue’s salads that she posted. I will try both of them one a week. I am trying the sweet potato salad this week and the other one next week. We eat a lot of summer salads. It is too hot to eat much else. That salad can be made in the morning before it gets really hot and kept in the fridge.
I just want to get rid of the Jeep. I am tired of the air going out and then all those stupid lights going on. It takes forever for them to figure out what is wrong with it and then it takes a while for the lights to go out.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I did have to make the sides for the meal but it was raw veggies and dip and corn on the cob. The corn was not good at all so we barely ate that. It will be another month before the local corn comes in but i thought I would take a chance. That’s okay-the ribs and fresh veggies were plenty.
Greg has some kind of sheets that he uses on the grill to cook veggies on too. I’m sure they are similar to the ones that you have.
It’s definitely cooler today. Plus it rained like crazy yesterday evening and night-so needless to say there was no softball game for Pip.
Some guy from Verizon was supposed to come out today. I’m waiting to see if that is actually going to happen. I’l believe it when I see it.

      Hi Adele,
I hope you had a fun dinner with Nancy and friends.
Things have been different here since Easter. We would usually get together with Jenny and family for Mother’s and Father’s Day, Greg’s birthday, Milk Day and all of that has been different this year. It’s a good thing that Greg and i are close and it’s always been sort of him and me against the world. So it’s been an adjustment but nothing that we can’t handle. Although i am a little apprehensive as he just went off of Zoloft after taking it for many years. I wonder if this was the best time. I am keeping a sharp eye on him to feel if I see any signs of depression. On the other hand if he doesn’t need it any more it’s good not to have to take it. I just wish i could get him to be more accepting of Jenny’s decision. I keep trying to tell him there is no use in making yourself sick over something he has no control over. I wish I could convince him. You know there has never been a divorce in his family and his parents were so loving and never fought and he’s just coming from a different place. Both my siblings are divorced and my parents sometimes had a very volatile marriage so maybe this is just easier for me. I also think woman are generally more flexible than men.
You are right. What is happening at the border is atrocious. Crying children separated from their parents in a strange world. There has to be a better way to handle this.
I did tell Greg that i was going to have to send him to the golf course with a flea and tick collar. lol
Brent called Sunday and he is still struggling. Now they are focused on the heart problem. He is scheduled for an angiogram in a couple weeks. It just seems like answers are taking forever to come. Plus they still haven’t found the right medicine for the ulcerative colitis.
You can come over any time we have ribs. Tell Bobby he needs to barbecue you some. These were baby back ribs from Costco and they were very meaty and messy! lol
You know Adele I live by the serenity prayer and that helps me. And I do hope that this time next year everyone will be happy and thriving. right now I think i worry more about Greg’s reaction-he can’t seem to see beyond this. I wonder if being a boss and being in charge and control at work for so many years has something to do with it. This is literally something that he cannot shape to his will and he is frustrated by that.
Enough of this. I am looking forward to some cooler weather and whatever adventures this summer has in store for us. And looking forward to next summer and my new pool. lol

      Hi Gail,
That was nice that you did not have to cook. The fresh raw veggies sound really good. I am getting where I do not like to cook at all and just want to eat out or someones else s cooking. I am getting old.
Well they say that troubles come in threes. I went to do a load of laundry today and there was not water. I just thought the washer was clogged and needed to be cleaned out. Well Ron tried to get some water out of the faucet in the kitchen and no water. So we had to call the guy that put the original water pump in to come out and check it. So he is coming tomorrow. He said that he thinks that it probably got struck by lightening. He will check it and see if that is it. I just hope that he can replace it tomorrow and not have to wait for a long time. It is so funny that the same guy is coming. Unless when he gets here it turns out to be his son. Never realize how much water you use until it does not work anymore.
You realize how much we mean to our husbands and they find out how much they mean to us at this time in our lives. It seems like when our kids get older they do some really dumb things and we have to put up with it. We cannot do anything to change them. We never realized how bad it was with our sil and my daughter until she moved in with us and the kids started to talk about it. It is just sad. Maybe all girls are afraid that they will disappoint us and do not want to.
Well that is about all from here. Hope that you and Greg go on some really good adventures this summer.

      Hi Colleen
I am attaching a pic of the little pics that are all done and stretched back into shape. yahoo!!
      Also attaching crazy diving Luna….LOL
The skillet dinner sounds yummy. We all do such interesting things. It is good that we share our ideas and recipes.
The girls do share when they feel safe, and your home is a safe place for everyone in your family and neighborhood. That is always a good thing, and you should be proud.
I hope your well got fixed. That happened to us in NH once. The lightning shorted out the well pump, and it needed a new pump, and electrical system. When you have no water, you realize how very important it is.
I hope it is cooler for you today. It did get better here- in the 80’s.
I hope everyone there is good today.
We had a nice time at dinner. We were in the restaurant while a huge storm was outside, with tornado warnings, in the middle part of the state. I could not believe my crazy family did not try to reach me by phone. I gave them “the what for”, and told them I would have blown up their phones if they were out in a storm….LOL
I hope all our friends are ok from all the storms that went over.

      My dear buddy the Gailster
There can’t be enough of the talk about Jenny, until you are all at peace with this. My fear is, that will not happen for a long time. The dust cannot settle, until the actual break-up occurs. and it seems like that is a way off. the kids have not even been told yet. So, how can Greg come to terms with all of this? I will venture to say, he is still hoping and praying a divine intervention can happen, and restore the entire family to what it was before.
Even your weekly schedule, and holidays, and even Milk Days are now different. That is a lot to accept. You are not only losing a SIL, but, a way of life. This was not of yours and Greg’s choosing, so even harder to accept and move on. The “living in limbo” thing that is occurring has it’s own stressors. You are all waiting to know, and hear, how the kids will take it. just that anticipation will put Greg over the edge. he is a man, and the men of that age feel they are the providers, and need to fix/provide for everything. He just can’t fix this. Then add that both of you know what is coming. Waiting for the end is awful. Just awful. My heart goes out to all of you.
You are also right that Greg is used to being the go to man, even at work. Taking a back seat to watch a tragedy unfold is just not his style. nor is it yours, even though you have seen what divorce can do.
I also feel so bad for Brent. When I hear these stories of medical care in the rest of this country, I am horrified. We are very lucky here in Mass. I wish Brent could run into a doctor like the ones we have. I pray for that.
I think the Serenity Prayer is a wonderful thing to live by. It is very comforting. Heather lives by it every single day. They even have some spiritual meetings in AA that focus on the word of God, and scriptures they follow- they call it The Big Book Meetings…..I think. Lots of people live by that. I would say we all recite some and all of that every once in a while.
I hope you get some cooler weather.
We got severe so storms the night we were all out, but none of us knew….LOL there are no windows in the restaurant we went to. Thank God, as I would have freaked when I heard about the tornado issue. i am a huge baby about that. Huge is not a big enough word.
I think every person would love to have as strong a marriage as you and greg. It is a real blessing, and speaks to your good soul.
      Love ya, Gailster!

      Hi Adele,
I think that you have a star there. Luna the diving dog. He looks like he is having a good time. Next we want to see a picture of you in the pool having a good time. I do not expect that we will see you diving like Luna but at least in there swimming. You would have a good time with the grands in there. I am not sure about Luna she is a little too active.
Those pictures are so pretty. You are really good at that. Do you frame them or just hang them like that. They would be pretty any way that you do it. It is good that you enjoy doing them that much. What are you going to do next? I hope that you have fun doing them not matter what you do.
We got our pump fixed today. Luckily we did not need a new one. There is a fuse box on the top of the pump and lightening hit it and burned it up. So all Ron had to do is go and buy a new one and replace the old one. So we have water again. Today it was like a rush to get in the shower. It is so hot here and we all needed a shower. So it was nice that it was fixed and we could. If not we would have all had clothes pins on our noses to keep from smelling each other.lol
I am so glad that you had a nice time at dinner. That is good that you did not know that there were storms outside that would have ruined everything. I hope that they storms did not do any damage or anyone got hurt. We are supposed to have storms here tonight but so far nothing. We really need the rain but not lightening. We just got everything fixed from the last storm.
Sounds like you got home okay and the storms were over with by the time that you left. You are better staying where you are when there is a storm. At least there were no windows and you could not see anything. I am okay if I cannot see what is going on.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I’m with you. I just don’t like to cook that much anymore either. And with Greg eating no carbs it’s even been more of a pain because you just can’t even serve a sandwich anymore. The other day I was saying I wished you could just take a pill instead of eating and it would just give you what you needed for the day in terms of what you need to survive. I would miss going out to eat but not the daily cooking and planning of meals. Sometimes the planning is harder than the making as after 45 years one just sort of runs out of ideas. I used to like to read cookbooks but I don’t do that as much anymore either. Cooking used to be a creative outlet for me but now walking around the kitchen hurts my back and hips so that also has contributed to my disinterest. I would imagine many of us feel this way after cooking for all these years. I think if I was on my own i would probably just eat junk all the time so it’s probably good that i have to try and think of nutritious meals. lol
I’m glad that you got your water issue solved quickly. Every time we lose power I realize how many times a day we flush a toilet or turn on the tap. It’s a lot!
I’m glad the girls are talking to you about what went on in their house with their Dad. It’s probably very healing for them to share that with you. I’m glad Amanda and the girls are doing so well with the love and support of you and Ron. We never can stop being a parent-even when our children are grown.

      Hi Adele,
Thank you for the words of wisdom and support. They are greatly appreciated.
You’re needlepoint pictures are so beautiful! Guess which one I’m partial to? lol You know Quacker has had very little on the butterfly scene this year. I do like some of the different things they are doing though since i have been buying from the beginning some of the motifs were getting dated.
Oh my goodness! I love the picture of Luna diving into the pool! She is definitely a water dog! That is so much fun!
I have to remind you to watch The Gong Show tonight especially since Tillie likes the silly acts. I know it is on at the same time as Little Big Shots which I know that you watch, but maybe you could watch one and copy the other for later.
Hopefully they are now addressing the issues at the border and people will no longer be separated from their children. We’ll have to watch and see what happens.
I’m glad that you got home safely from dinner even though your family was not concerned. lol Somehow I think they leave all the worrying to you since they know that you are so good at it. lol It’s a good thing that there were no windows in the restaurant as that way you could enjoy yourself.
I just realized that our anniversary is this Saturday. 45 years.
We are expecting more rain today and tomorrow so I imagine Piper’s game will end up being cancelled again today. God knows if Jenny will be able to get her on the field after all these cancellations.

      Hey Colleen
I can’t tell you how happy I was not to know what was happening outside at dinner the other night. It was pretty funny. When we left the air was so full of humidity, it felt like a sauna. Totally gross.
Well, I went out to the framing store today, as they have the 50% off sale. I got all 5 framed, and they should be ready in 2 weeks. As soon as I put them up, I will take a pic of them. the big one goes in my back room to replace the one that is in the middle of 4 smaller ones now. It is an old one I did for Heather when she was little. I think Steph wants to take that one. It is a pretty clown, reaching for stars. the 4 little ones will go aorund the big pic I have in our bedroom, over the bed. They will replace a swag that is a dust collector.
I had such a funny time with the girl at the framing store. We were laughing, and having such fun. you have to keep trying different colors of mats, until you are happy with the look. A lot of times what you think will work, will not, and what you do not think will work, does. What a mess was left on the table- we had tons of mats out to find the right ones for the 5 pics. That is what made us laugh so hard. The big one ended up with a brown mat and a cream one for the mat under it, that shows a little on the edge of the pic. Who would have thought a brown mat would be the best to pick up the color sin the pic? And, one of the butterfly ones ended up with an orange/black combo…..LOL
I am so glad you got the water back! It is awful when there is no water to shower, or for the toilet.
Hey…maybe I can enter AGT with Luna next year…..LOL LOL
I have not had the guts to try to get in the pool yet. Plus, I am embarrassed at how swollen and awful my legs look. At the end of the day, they have lines on them from the swelling. I know it sounds awful for me to feel like thta, but what if I get stuck, and have to call the EMT’s? LOL LOL
Hope you are having a good day!

      Hey Gail
      read the [post t Colleen.
I know what you mean about the hurt when you walk and stand. I have chairs on rollers in the kitchen, and would not be able to cook without them. if I forget a measuring spoon, or anything else, I roll to the drawer. I put all my stuff on the table to work, and even sit in the chair in front of the stove, to stir things. Of course, I had to get chairs rated to hold my and everyone else’s chubby bits….LOL LOL
It is hard to do a no crab dinner. Eggs and bacon comes to mind.
Tillie and I love to make zucchini and eggs- we eat it in a sandwich, but it is just as yummy alone. you saute the zucchini in butter, then get rid of some of the fluid, if a lot accumulates in the fry pan. then add eggs and cook until they are done- add just salt and pepper, and eat away!
You can do the same thing with red or yellow peppers and eggs. It cooks fast, and you can have it with bread.

      Hey Gailster
You are entirely welcome. My only hope is that I provided some comfort to you yesterday. That is the only thing we can do for you right now….and pray.
Please read my post to Colleen for all the info of the day. All are at the framers right now.
Luna is a scream. I love that dog. I want to keep her when they go to Italy, but they will not let me. Gary said I woudl not puck up the poop….that is what I ahve him for. (luna poops 3 times a day) Marissa is afraid a coyote will get her in my back yard. So, no Luna babysitting for me.
OMG. I hope our cutie Piper will get back out on the field when the games start again. You are getting the rain, and we are not. the only rian we had was the storm that was the night I went out.
I will watch it tonight, and tell Tillie too. I can record the other show. That English guy who is the host seems so strange.
Happy Anniversary!! I hope you go out for a nice romantic dinner. Then go skinny dipping in the Koi pond….LOL LOL
Isn’t it amazing how fast the years are going by? It seems like yesterday that I married Crazy Gary.
Hope you are having a good day, and it is not so hot out there.

The English guy Freddy Maitland who hosts The Gong Show is actually Mike Myers in a disguise. lol That’s probably why he seems strange-he is supposed to be. He is the best part of the show as he is always making funny smart remarks to the contestants.

      Hi Ladies,
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!! How’s everybody? Good I hope. What’s with all these storms? We were 90 degrees yesterday, then during the night thunderstorms blew in & did a lot of damage around the area. Lightning struck several trees, destroying them. Then lightning started a small fire in the Gorge, but was quickly put out. That’s all we need is another fire in the Gorge. Yesterday was like summer, today it was more like spring, with the storm & all. I slept thru the storm, unless it didn’t make it here. Most of the damage was down south & west of where I’m at.
I was a naughty girl the other day, & ordered Jimmy the baker’s cinnamon rolls & the strawberries & cream rolls. They looked soooooo delish I couldn’t resist!! I’ll let ya know how I like them.
I got a call from the people who will help me with the packing. They’ll send out the guy to assess the situation & we’ll go from there. Hopefully I won’t lose my whole summer like I did last yr. I’ve squacked about it so much they’re probably sick of hearing about it. Maybe it’ll help get the job done right this time!!!
Is it me or do I detect a dictator in the White House?? It looks like the beginning of the Nazi Germany. (I didn’t capitalize, the spell check did.) When the big summit took place all I saw was 2 dictators shaking hands in Singapore. Enough on that.
What breed of dog is Luna? She looks like she could take care of herself. Is she real small? It’s hard to tell in the pics.
I’ll tell ya about my brother’s dog, Thea. She was a black lab & was the darling of the household. One day, I went out to “the farm”, & I hadn’t been out there for quite some time. I went in thru the garage like always. Thea was loose running around the place. she heard me pull up & get out of the car. I was approaching the kitchen door when she came barreling around the corner of the garage running full bore!! Mom was screaming at her to stop, but it didn’t work. I turned & screamed Thea. Sit. at the top of my lungs. She immediately sat where she was & proceeded to scoot across the garage right up to me. Her momentum caused her to scoot on the garage floor, she couldn’t stop. But she sat when given the command. When she got up to me she went ahead & did what dogs do best, smell me, & realized it was me. That’s my story about the dog.
      Well, I better get going.
      take care.

      Hey DD!
I love the porch picture the best. I love the farmers porches, and would love to have one. Think of all the pretty decorations i could do with that….LOL
I love the dog story. That is hysterical. I can see your Mom’s horrified face, and I do not even know what she looks like….LOL
Luna is a black lab, with a few other mixes in there. Marissa did a DNA test on her. Isn’t that funny? She wanted to know what was in her blood line. She is the quietest dog. You never hear her bark. even when the big dog next door goes nuts when he sees her, she just looks over the fence, and her ears twitch. the only time she barks, is when the water splashes on her face, or when sirens go by. She doe snot like sirens. She howls at them, like she is howling at the moon. She does not jump on anyone accept Marissa, and Enzo, when they come home from work, or when she sees Amanda. She is kind of average size for a lab, or maybe a little smaller. Ill attach a pic of her with Marissa, so you can see how tall she is.
I am glad you got a good night’s sleep, and did not get disturbed by the storms. We are supposed to get rain this weekend. Unfortunately, we have the “unveiling” at my BIL’s grave on Sunday. I hope it does not rain.

      Hi DD,
I hope that you get all the help that you need with the packing up. and then they come in right away and get the spraying done and get it over with so you can enjoy your summer.
We are getting a lot of rain here.
I can just picture the dog coming to a screeching halt and skidding across the floor on her butt. At least she was well behaved as she responded immediately to the command of sit.
Jenny used to have an old fashioned porch like that at her old house-it was a Craftsman-it also had a bomb shelter in the basement added in the 1950’s.

Okay, Adele, I am doing this for the third time now! The last two emails just disappeared into thin air. Don’t know if it’s the site or me.
      Dam it!!!!!!
      Okay now I feel better.
That’s cool that Marissa did the DNA test on Luna. I wonder what else it showed besides Lab. She is a bit smaller than a full blood lab, I think. I’m glad she is such a good dog. Do they do any obedience training with her? I took all our larger dogs to obedience classes. To brag a little bit every dog I took to classes had the highest score on the test that they do at the end of the classes. I liked obedience training-it was fun.
Don’t worry about your legs. Get in the pool with your family and have fun! That’s why we have a private pool-so no one needs to see us except those that we want to do so. Forget about EMT’s-you will do fine! Get in there and splash with Luna.
I’m jealous of Marissa going to Italy. I wish we had the money and time to travel when we were young. Now that we have those things I would never be able to do the walking required to see the things that I want to see. So i have to see the sites vicariously through others and by reading books. I hope they have a wonderful trip.
I did make a dish the other night where you use shredded zucchini, eggs and cheese for the crust and it was like a pizza type dish. It actually turned out pretty well and it made the serve again list. It was low carb and probably glutin free too.
I got an e-mail from Jenny saying they probably won’t be home for dinner tonight. Adam is on vacation for three weeks so I don’t know what’s going on there. That must be awkward since normally during the week she works days and he works nights so they don’t see each other much anyway. So I don’t know how much we will get to see the kids the next few weeks.
I doubt that Greg and I will be skinny dipping in the koi pond as i don’t want leeches on me. Hopefully we’ll go out for some nice dinners.
That’s funny that neither of you realized that Tommy Maitland was not a real person. Once you know it’s Mike Myers now you will probably think that he is funny.

      Hi Gail,
Does Greg eat lettuce? You could put the lettuce on the table and let him put his meat on that and you can eat the bread. It is hard to think of things to fix when you are use to eating carbs. I do not think that I could do that either,. I like my bread and rolls and pasta.
I went to lunch today with the kids and they were talking about fried butter. They fry a stick of butter and it does not melt. I have no idea how they do that but I guess that it is possible because they fry ice cream. I guess that they fry just about everything now days. I have had fried pickles and they are pretty good. I do not think that there is anything that they will not fry.
Have you been watching the Chew? It is just so sad to think that they will not be on the air much longer. I watched their farewell show and that was really sad. It made me cry. I am sure that Micheal Symon and Carla will be on other shows. I am not sure what shows that Clinton Kelly will be on. I am sure that he will be on more fashion shows. They really said a lot of good things about their staff and each other. They must have been as close as they seemed on the air.
I wonder if having the kids home made us feel a lot more creative and want to cook. It just seems like when there is just the two of us there is not fun in cooking. I wish that I still had Adele’s love for cooking and baking.
They say that our parenting stops when they get married and move out. I have learned that is not true. We are never done with parenting no matter how old they are. We are lucky that the kids did open up to us and feel comfortable living here. The only thing is they use my cell phone and their friends text them at 1or 2 am. I did put a stop to that. I told them that the next time that one of their friends text that late I am going to answer and they will never text again. So they have talked to their friends and told them they cannot get texts after 11pm.
That is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I hate it when it get so humid outside. Did you have storms after you went home? We have been having small showers here but in other places they are getting a lot of rain. I am just hoping that if we have rain we do not have lightening. There is no telling what it will hit next. We cannot afford to have anything else go out right now.
The kids leave for their vacation next Wednesday. It will be so quite here while they are gone. I just hope that they all have a really good time. It will be fun staying in a cabin for a few days. The all have to work and they need to get away.
I am glad that you had so much fun at the store framing place. It is hard to tell until you see the mat behind the picture to know if it will work right or not. I would really like to see the pictures after they are framed. That is nice that you are going to have them framed. That is so nice that Steph wants the picture that use to be her mom’s. Maybe the boys will take it after they move out and their kids will enjoy it. That is nice to something to pass on to the grands.
Yesterday I had a migraine and it was bad. It was the first one that I ever had. My kids all got them so I know what to look for when they happen. I am hoping that this will be my first and my last. I have no idea what brought it on. That is one thing that I never understood.
Now that is a plan. I can just see them putting a pool on the stage and Luna diving in. That would be fun. I would call in and vote for Luna. You would have all the quackers calling to make sure that you win. I guess they have the public call in to give their opinion.
No body will notice how swollen you are once you get in the pool. EMT’s will not care they will think that it was good that you got into the pool so the swelling would go down in you legs.
Did I miss Gail’s anniversary? I hope not. I hate when I miss things like that. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I have never tried Jimmy the bakers cinnamon rolls. The strawberry and cream sound really good also. That would be nice to have when you have someone over for breakfast.
That is nice they finally got a hold of you to pack the things for you. I hope that they get this done quickly so you do not have to wait as long as you did last tine. If they are a professional company they will be a lot quicker because they have to worry about their reputation. I hope they get this taken care of this time and you do not have to go thru this again.
Your pictures are all so pretty. The picture of the watermelon really made me hungry for one. They are not ripe enough yet so will have to wait awhile. It also made me think of when we were kids and we would all sit at the table and eat our watermelon. Those days were so carefree. We never had to worry about anything.
That was a funny story about your mom’s dog. I can just see the dog scooting across the floor after you told him to stop. He really did obey really well.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It started out cloudy this morning, but the sun has broke thru so it should be a lovely day. We do have some fires out in central Oregon that were started by lightning this week.
I got the cinnamon rolls yesterday, & they are good!! Probably not as good as Adele’s however. They’re huge, & soft. I’ve had cinnamon rolls that weren’t as soft. I can’t wait to get the ones with berries & cream. Yuummmmmy!
Glad everyone enjoyed the story about Thea. I find that interesting about having Luna’s DNA done. It’s amazing what they can do nowadays. If she’s the normal size for a black lab I wouldn’t worry about a coyote. Wolf yes, coyote, not so much. They go after smaller prey, cats, really small dogs, etc. The coyotes I’ve seen around here look pretty small. One ran out in front of me when I was driving to the coast yrs ago. It looked pretty scraggly & smaller than I imagined.
Have lots of fun with Luna. She takes to the water like a duck does. They’re good for training. Very smart dogs. My dad trained his for retrieving ducks when they’d go duck hunting. Those days are long gone.
Adele, I think getting into the cool water would help the swelling go down. It’s good exercise too. Getting into the water is relaxing for the body. Takes the pressure off the back & legs. get in & enjoy it!!! I wish I had a pool to get into.
Well, I guess that;s all for today.
      Have a great weekend.

Hello my dear sweet friends, I have missed all of you so much. It seems when we don’t talk for a few days we are so out of the loop on everyones lives, and I just don’t like that. First, the dr. office called me day before yesterday and changed my appt. due to something she had (my guess a new life coming into this world), so that leaves us still in “limbo” but things are doing much better with my physical “signs” of a problem. So I pray everyday that we are okay, and I know we are all in Gods hands and I am praying all will turn out fine. So I will definitely keep you posted. Thank you so much for your concern and prayers.
I read enough of your notes to see you all have been really busy and have had many things going on in your lives. Gail, happy late anniversary. I so hope you and hubby were able to leave behind your worries for a while, and just reflect on how much you all love each other and celebrate all the wonderful things these years together have been for you all. Jerry said somethings just the other day; a question actually to me. He asked had I ever just stopped and thought of how our life through all these years is just sort of a repeat of our parents lives, and their parents lives and so on; just different times and different circumstances, but so similar in so many ways. I sat and thought about that and even though mabey we didn’t go though say the depression, or WW1 or 2, we went through our own “times” so to speak that were so similar. Probably not making any sense, but I think he had his finger on something there. Hope you had a wonderful day together. And I wish I was as good as Adele in her words of comfort to you, but since I know what a beast stress can be, you are so smart, kind, and loving and I know Gregg must be too to have shared his talents for so many to enjoy, that mabey one of my favorite sayings “This too shall pass” will somehow help you all right now.
We have had some very severe storms these last few weeks. We have been without power several times, once overnight, many 6-12 hours at a time. Jerry has really had a hard time dealing with the heat, and he loses his temper the hotter he gets. I asked him to lets just go to a hotel, and he is so frugal with money he just refused. I think part of it was just pure stubborn. This latest “scare” has brought out some not so nice impatience in him, and it has been trying to say the least at times. I don’t know why but we just don’t handle “being scared” in the same way. But I guess we all have to deal with things the best we can. We saw the clouds begin to whirl the other afternoon, and a cloud start to make a tail out of the bigger cloud, and I was just terrified. Even Jerry got concerned. We were standing on our back patio, which is covered, and he told me to get in the laundry room. That was one of the times the power stayed out a long time. Many trees and poles were broken that day. Scary stuff. Colleen, have you all been getting much storms?
DD, I am so happy you are gettting your apt. fixed. You and your kitty need a nice quiet place not all this confusion. I don’t know about your kitty, but ours just gets so upset over any change. Auto would be really upset and it makes him get sick if he doesn’t get his rest.
Adele, swim to your hearts content. I love the song, “I hope you dance”. I can’t remember who sings it, but it is so true. We are us, and people either love us for what we are or don’t, and how we look physically has nothing to do with the real person we are inside of us and in our heart. So please enjoy yourself.
Love you guys, hope you are doing okay Sue, and are feeling better. Please take care everyone, I am thinking of you all all the time. Love, Barbara

      Hi Barbara,
It is so good to hear from you. Just wish that they had given you the results of the test so you did not have to worry about them. There must not have been anything to worry about or she would have had you come right in and talk to you.
Ron gets crabby this time of the year also. I wonder if all men get like that. They want to be outside and it is too hot to go out there and stay for a long time. Ron will go out there but I will have to go out and bring him water and tell him it is time to come in the house. They are just stubborn and want things their way.
Jerry was right about us going thru the same things that our parents did just different circumstances. We are just living out our times and dealing with the things that is going on now. They went thru the same problems with their kids as we do. We just have to remember that they lived thru it and we can too.
we had storms awhile back but not now. It is really hot and no rain at all. We really need the rain but no more storms. We have lightening hit our electic and our pump. It just brunt up the breaker box on the pump so Ron could replace it but we had an electrician to fix the electric problems that we had so now we have all of that fixed. I do not like to see lightening now. We have been with out water for a day and a half and that is a mess. You never realize how much water you use until you do not have any. I was happy that Ron could fix it and we did not have to wait awhile before we got it back on. I just pray that it never happens again.
I know what song that you are talking about. I hope that you can dance is so inspiring. I really like to hear it. I keep thinking that it is by that girl that married Garth Brooks. I cannot remember her name though.
I hope that you have a great night and it was great to hear from you.

You had to see Gary when I told him about mike Myers. He did not believe me. I had to google it….LOL
Dam….there are leeches in your koi pond? Who put them in there, and, for God’s sake…why? Yuck.
From time to time, I have to sign on again, and that is aggravating. I have had my post disappear, and that sucks, big time. When it does not immediately post when I hit the button, I do the control c, and then control v to copy into a document. Then, I copy it back into another post. Since I started to do that, I have not lost any in a bit.
That stinks about not being able to see the kids for a couple of weeks. I believe you are right- it will be real strange at Jenny’s with Adam on vacation. Do you think they will finally tell the kids? The kids need some time to adjust. No matter when they are told, it is going to e heartbreaking for all of them.
I have not been feeling well since Friday. My blood pressure has been up, and my sugar level has been 124 to 129 in the am. As I was very dizzy, and not feeling good, we checked my sugar and pressure. This am my blood pressure was 179/89. So, I did not go to the Unveiling. Gary went alone.
I have a doctor appointment with my gp on Wednesday. I may try to see if I can go earlier.
I do not feel bad enough to go to the ER. If I get any concerning pains, I will, of course.
Marissa is going with Enzo’s entire family. they will stay with his grandmother. His Nonna wants to meet Carissa. How cute is that? Enzo is saying he wants to stay at a local hotel, as his grandmother has no air conditioning. that is still up for discussion, as Marissa wants to stay with her, and get to know her more.
Hope your weather is good. Ours is very humid today, with chances of thunderstorms.

      Hey Colleen…..
You are right. To cook for only 2 people is just not much fun at all. I ahve been bad the last 2 weeks, and made only quick easy dinners….LOL I did just copy 2 veggie pies from the Betty Crocker site. they send me emails a lot. I copied a veggie one, and a spinach/cheese one.
Please read my post to Gail for more news, as I do nto feel well. I may only answer one more post for now, and come back on later, as it is making me dizzy. well….I am a “dizzy broad” anyway…..LOL
You are goign to be real lonely without the crew. I hope they have a good time, as they certainly deserve one. They all work hard, and need a break with all they have been through. they are so lucky to have you and Ron, or it would have been so much worst for all of them. I bet they never want to leave the two of you, as you make a nice, comfy, happy home for them to live in. I am afraid that may happen to Gail and Greg too, if the break up goes sideways for Jenny and the kids.
You arr right in what you said to Gail. We are parents forever, and it is very hard to parent an adult child.
Hope your Sunday is going well. I am going to try to get into he shower shortly.

      Hi DD!
I love the patriotic pics, and waterfall. Waterfalls are so beautiful. Nature gives us present every day.
That reminds me. Did I tell you when I was coming back from getting the pics framed, that as I pulled off the highway (which was very busy), right at the corner of the street was a beautiful deer. She was looking all around, and seemed to want to cross the street. I hoped she went back into the wooded area, as if she tried, she would have definitely been hit. I tried to slow down, but there was a car on my rear, so I could not stay and enjoy the beautiful animal. It felt like God had given me a gift.
It is very overcast, ans humid here today. They say we will get thunderstorms this afternoon/evening. I hope Gary gets home before that starts.
Gary called while I was finishing my shower. He said it was very sad. My BIL’s 2 daughters were going to speak, and they could not. His youngest granddaughter cried so hard, she went back into the car. Gary said a few words about how important his brother was to him.
I honestly felt that this week would be too hard for all of them to do the Unveiling. It was Father’s Day, and a couple of days ago, it was Don’s birthday. It was a lot of loss packed into today’s Unveiling. I knwo she had the best intentions about doing it, when it was meaningful. Sometimes meaningful can change into misery. I feel so terribly awful for all of them. As we know, it is hard to loose a Dad. I guess when you think about it there is no good time at all.
I will try to get into the pool, when nobody is around…..LOL
I hope your day is going well. How is Kay and Critt? i hope you have some good news on their progress.

      Hey Barbara!
So glad you gave us an up-date. Also thrilled you are feeling better, and hoping the results will be even better than that.
That is the song my friend Nancy says she wants to be sung at her funeral. It is a good song to live by.
Hey you…….you have wonderful and kind words of comfort for all of us! I still have the prayer you made for me, when Steph and Jhonny had issues last year. I still recite it, every once in a while.
I get it about Jerry. he is probably feeling the DIL’s need to be a lot kinder right now, and that is getting him very angry. he does not want you to even have one ounce of stress. He is protecting his Queen.
Did I tell you I am working on these adorable Halloween ornaments? i got some for me- for the knob on the kitchen cabinets, and 2 for Heather and Steph (for their birthdays), and a couple for tillie too. I am working on the 3rd one right now. I got a few for Christmas too, and they even had one with Jewish star, so I got 3 of those to make for my SIL, and her 2 daughters. I figured that was something they would all like, especially since I made them. I hope…..LOL
The storms you are having would scare the be Jesus out of me. We have nowhere to go in this house, as it is a raised ranch. We woudl be so screwed. These storms all over, and getting more intense every season. I woudl like to smack anyone who feels global warming is a joke.
I also hope we hear from Sue soon. She has had some awful storms too.
      Have a good Sunday!

      Hi Gail,
Happy Anniversary. I hope that you had lot of fun going out. Leeches in the koi pond. That would not be fun taking a dip in it. Do the fish eat the leeches? I sure hope that they do.
Thanks for telling us who is the person that sang that song. It was driving me crazy.
      Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I have not watched the Gong show yet. I can imagine how Mike Meyers will be acting. He is funny anyway. If he is being someone else he will have a good time.
I wonder what is bringing your sugar up like that. It is not really dangerous until it is above 150 at least that is what the doctors tell me. I am not sure what the numbers are when you are not diabetic. Just be careful that it does not get much higher.
If it is really hot Marissa may want to stay in the hotel and not at his grandmas. It can get really hot in a house without air when you are use to having air in the house. That is nice that she want to meet her and spend time with her. I hope that they have a good time.
It is hard to get on here when you feel dizzy. Just try to take it easy an not do too much. That is a shame that you could not go with Gary to the unveiling. That is sad that the family took it so hard. I guess that it is hard to go thru that when it is so close to his birthday and Fathers day. It is good that Gary went and was able to give a little talk.
Those pies that you are making sound good. I am going to make more salads now that everyone is going to be gone. We usually do not eat heavy meals when we are here alone in the summer. So now we can go back to eating like we usually do. I do not like to fix a lot of meat and potatoes and things like that. I do not need to eat heavy meals like that right now. My stomach is feeling a little bad.
I am worried for Gail and Greg. They are going thru too much right now. Jenny needs to let the kids go and see her and Greg. That is not right. They will need them a lot when they find out what is going on. I am not sure that they do not know already. Especially Kendal she is a smart girl and she needs Jenny to talk to her. If they go on vacation with Adam and Jenny does not go with them they are really going to know something is wrong. I just keep praying for all of them.
I hope that things went okay with you in the shower. Hope that you waited for Gary to come home first and then take a shower. That way if you get dizzy he will be there to help you.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night and take care of yourself.
      Colleen

      Hi Gail and Adele,
When you were talking about scooting around the kitchen if chairs I thought of my doctor. I hope that you are not rolling more then 2 or 3 inches at a time. Just like when you vacuum. I could not stop thinking about that. He was so funny.
      Have a good night.

      Hey Colleen
I feel less dizzy today, but still not totally myself. The sugar fasting was between 124 and 129. This morning it hit 133. That was my fault, as for dinner last night I ate the leftover chicken and rice noodles. the amount was half of one of those take out Chinese boxes. I also had one Peking Ravioli, and one boneless rib. that was it. I thought rice noodles had less carbs than regular noddles, and I guess I was wrong.
I have been doing a lot of needlepoint to be calm and quiet. I like doing it, so that is ok. Sometimes I ahve the TV on, and some times I do not.
It is Amanda’s birthday tomorrow, and she wants the Linguine with Pesto sauce. The Pesto has no carbs- protein and veggie, and oil. The linguine does….LOL
Amanda had a medical incident, and she waited to tell me when she saw me today. She was in the bathroom, and passed out at her boyfriends house. He called 911. the hospital (I do not like that one) told her that it was a nerve when you pee, that sometimes makes people pass out. Seriously?? They did blood work, and found nothing. She is scared, as she said she has not been feeling well. She has a kidney problem- has one kidney that functions at only 40%. She had kidney reflux when she was born, and it took a long time to diagnose, hence she lost most of the one kidney. She had surgery at Children’s Hospital that fixed the valve, and has been fine since. So, I called our kidney doctor to see if she would get her in there fast, and the office is having her call me personally, to see what she can do. The hook is, Amanda has not seen a doctor in years, and has no GP. I could smack her.
Then Gary finds out the delivery vehicle is no good. It is at the mechanic, and they said not to bother as it is not worth the repair. So, now we have to search for a reasonable delivery vehicle, as this one is not safe to drive. Our delivery guy is on vacation this week. I hope we can come up with something before Monday when he gets back. Gary is calling his customers to see if anyone has a mini van.
I hope your day is going better than mine!
      ]Adele
PS…..I am amso scared for Gail and Greg. Way to much sadness and stress for the two of them.
No wonder I have high blood pressure….LOL

      Hi Everybody,
DD, what beautiful pictures! I think I would like those berries and cream rolls too. Maybe i will have to order them sometimes.
Barbara, glad to hear from you. I hope next time it is with news of an “all clear.”So you can get on with your life.
I do understand what Jerry was saying about the similarities of our lives to the previous generations. I think maybe it proves that most people want a home and a family-someplace to stay and somebody to love.
Joey’s wedding is getting closer-for some reason I thought it was over 4th of July. it sure would be nice to see a picture of the bride and groom. I hope you have been able to continue your plans for the back home celebration.
The prayers continue to be sent your way.
Colleen, now i’m picturing Adele rolling around her kitchen like a maniac. The movie in my mind makes me laugh. She may need some brakes on that chair.
I know some fish eat leeches as I know Greg sometimes uses them for fishing. I have had containers of leeches in my fridge before. lol Now that I’ve grossed everyone out! Now that we are fancy and have two fridges i make him keep them in the fridge in the basement. lol
We didn’t get to see the kids Friday night as Jenny said they wouldn’t be around. I found out later that she was the one who wouldn’t be around as she was out with her “man.” You know just the way she’s acting it’s making us hate him without even knowing him. I just don’t even recognize her as a person amymore-with some of the things that she is doing. Anyway, if she had just said she was going out but Adam was home with the kids we would have gone over there anyway. I’m afraid this whole thing is going to get messy.
Anyway, we went out for fish on Friday to a local place that we hadn’t been to for awhile-it sure was busy with all the summer people. Then Saturday night we went to the movies to see Jurassic World ( I always like the dinosaur movies) and then we went out to dinner afterwards. That’s twice to the movies in three weeks. I am going to set a record because we hardly ever go-but I think we may do it more often now.
Sunday was the girl’s league picnic where all the girls teams play a game and they have a big barbecue as a fund raiser. Piper was a little better but it was hot and then she didn’t want to play because it was hot. Jenny was helping out the coaches on the team so all the kids were hanging around Adam. Since Piper quit playing after her last at bat I said to Greg I know the kids are hungry and hot why don’t we go and buy them all their lunch to kind of get them out of their whininess and trying to help out. Well then after they were done and Piper got her treat from the coaches they came to the table and Jenny barely spoke to us and just took off with the kids without saying goodbye and left me,Greg and Adam just sitting there. What a mess this all is. Greg and I are at the point where if it wasn’t for the kids we would tell her just to go out and lead her own life we wash our hands of you.
Okay, enough. I’m sorry for bringing our troubles down on everyone. Some days I want to knock her up side the head and talk some sense into her.

Adele, I hope that you feel better. Glad you have a visit with the doctor.
I hope Amanda gets in soon too. That sounds like nothing to fool around with. Don’t be mad because she hasn’t seen a doc in years. heck-when we were young we never went either. it’s just when we get older we see the doctor more often-too often. lol
I don’t know how the leeches get in the pond. I guess God puts them there-but any pond or the streams around here has them. I mean they wouldn’t be evident unless you were walking around in there.
I hope you post the ornaments when they are done. I’m getting my crafting done vicariously through you. lol I really should take up my cross stitch or my knitting again but I haven’t felt the urge in a while.
I’m sorry that everyone was so overcome for the unveiling of Gary’s brother’s headstone. I’m sure it just brings all the sadness back strongly. It will be all right though-at least they tried to go through with it in the best way that they could. He would understand.
You know Jenny and Adam have not told the kids yet. He wants to but she just wants to put her head in the sand about dealing with all the emotional fall out. She thinks once she gets Adam out of the house and this guy can come over whenever he wants everything will be all hunky dory. She is living in some fantasy world and won’t face up to the hard realities. They have a court date some time in August-I have no idea what that entails. However, I think they should have told them at the beginning of summer to get them used to the idea. Now I’m afraid they will be told closer to going back to school time and that will create more chaos. Jenny just doesn’t seem to be thinking right-it’s like she thinks that she can slide this guy right into Adam’s empty spot and everything will be all hunky dory. Adam says she has deleted her Facebook account and she says no one needs to know what is going on. Well I’ve got news for her-this is a town where everyone knows everyone’s business so they know what is going on and if they don’t know they are making it up-so she may as well just come right out with the truth and live with the consequences. All this turmoil over some man-I sure hope that he is worth it. (sarcasm) Love can be good but love can be crazy too.
So did you ever watch Everybody loves Raymond? I’m picturing Marrissa’s trip to Italy being like when the Barone’s went to Italy. They stayed with relatives too and the house did not have the modern conveniences that we are used to so I’m thinking Enzo may have a good idea. That was a good program-I still watch the reruns. Marie Barone was the classic meddling MIL. Funny stuff!

      Hey Gailster
The leeches stories are gross….LOL Good idea to ban them from the main fridge.
Of course I will take a pic of them. I am waiting to have the 5 for gifts done, iron them, and sew them together before I take one. The instructions said to iron them on wool setting, and they will go back into shape. I hope so….LOL
I think you should do a cross stitch picture, pillow, or ornaments. Or, do your knitting again. It is good therapy.
Thank you for the prayer for Amanda. i am worried about her. She will be here again tomorrow, as it is her birthday- she will be 23.
Speaking of Amanda- any news on Brent?
I think Jenny is acting like that becasue she knows you still talk to Adam. She wants you to be on her side. With what has happened, how can you? It is a good thing to have a positive relationship with Adam, but she cannot see that right now.
I fear the same ending you do. Not telling the kids will blow up in her face, and her new boyfriend’s. It is a recipe for disaster. The kids need time to process this. To have tier Dad in the home while they do, would have been a good thing. It is a recipe for disaster. I am so sorry for all of you. I am also worried about you and Greg. The disappointment, and stress is a lot to deal with. The “waiting for the shoe to drop” is very stressful. I think it is great that the two of you are goign out and trying to think of something else. It speaks to how much the two of you love each other, and how strong you both are for each other.
You are in my prayers every day, as well as Jenny and her family.
      Love you, Gailster!

      Hi Adele,
I am glad that you are feeling a little better. If you are worrying about your blood sugar that could make it rise also. If you worry or you have been sick it could all have something to do with your sugar rising. So I would not worry about it and the doctor will tell you what he thinks. I do not think that rice has as many carbs as pasta but it still has a lot. I eat a lot of rice but I also take medicine for my diabetes. That would make the difference.
That was good that you called your doctor and he will work her in. I agree with Gail when we were young we did not got to the doctor much either. I really did not go until they found that I had diabetes when I was pregnant with one of the kids. Then you are stuck going to the doctor a lot. You cannot help worrying about her with the problems that she has. She probably will be okay and she will be better after she sees your doctor.
They say that troubles come in threes. I have to agree with them because we have been having problems and they came in threes. I just hope that because we had a fourth problem does that mean that two more are on the way. I really hope not. lol
My day has not been too bad. We got the house cleaned and that was about it. I just fixed a salad for dinner and put some crab in it. I know that does not sound good to you. You could not eat that. We just about ate the whole salad so I guess that everyone really liked it.
The dinner that you are going to make for Amanda sounds really good. She will have a good birthday. Tell her that I said Happy Birthday.. It is funny that your grands come to your for help when they are sick. You are a good grandma to them.
You are right about Gail and Greg. They have a lot on their shoulders right now. I wish that Jenny would talk to them and quit acting like she is. That is not right.
Well that is about all from here. Take care of yourself

      Hi Gail,
Maybe Adele needs to get one of those hoover rounds. Then she could fly all over the place. She would not have to put on a break just let up on the go button. She is so funny.
I would not want to touch a leech not even to put on a fish hook. Those things latch on too quickly. I cannot believe that anything would want to eat one of those things. I did not realize that they would just show up in ponds like that.
Gail you may just have to have a talk with her. It cannot hurt. You know that Adam will always let you see the kids anytime that you want to see him. Jenny really needs to talk to you and Greg and I would go to her. I have a big mouth and would not stay quite. She should not treat you and Greg that way and if you want to talk to Adam that is your business. It will do not good for you and Greg to be mean to him he is the kids dad and that will never change. She needs to know that it will be that way all of their lives and she cannot change that. I think that they need to talk to the kids soon this is going too far. That is really going to not help them. I will shut up now and quit running my big mouth.
That is nice that you and Greg are going out and doing things. Maybe one day you should just say that you want to take the kids out to eat or do something with them. Tell Jenny that she does not have to come with you. You can handle it by yourself. You may have fun with just the kids. Just tell Jenny that she can come also but if she does not want to that is fine also. You do not deserve this and neither do the kids. Gail you should be able to talk to us about any of this. We all talk about our problems on here with the kids and anything that we have trouble. It is better to talk on here and not keep ti bottled up inside.
I cannot wait until the kids are gone for a few days. It will be so quite. We got the house cleaned today and it will stay that way until they get back. Then we will have Ethan and Kaylee also. That will be a mess. I do not know where we are going to put all of them but it will be okay. I just hope that we can talk Ron into getting a pool so they will do a lot of swimming and not be under foot all the time.lol
Well that is about all from here. Just hang in there my friend. God is watching over all of this and he will help all of you. We are all praying for you on here.

      Hi Adele,
      Tell Amanda Happy Birthday.
It’s good to know that you are feeling better.
I hope that Gary finds a new van quickly and easily.
Brent has a birthday coming up on Sunday. He is still undergoing tests. I have never seen anything so dragged out in my life. We are thinking of planning a trip later this summer or fall to meet up with him and Wendy in Branson. We’ll see how that all falls out.
Thank you for the prayers. I think I am dealing with things better than Greg. I guess the one good thing all this has given us is a greater appreciation for each other. I am a glass half full girl so i have to find something good amidst the carnage. lol
We showed up for Piper’s game tonight and her team wasn’t there so I called Jenny and she forgot to tell me that the game was changed to a different night. Ooooops! So then we just went out and had some dinner.
Greg and I usually bring lawn chairs to the games as the bleachers are hard on the butt and back. So when we went to get our lunches on Sunday we just left our chairs by the bleachers and sat and ate at the picnic tables. So when we went back to get the chairs one of them was gone. It was funny too because when we were eating I saw this guy walking through the eating shelter carrying a chair that looked like ours but since there are so many chairs like that i didn’t think too much about it. I imagine some guy came home with it and his wife asked where did you get that chair it isn’t ours. lol In future maybe we should take a marker and write our names on them. Maybe we should write a mystery story-Robbery at the girls league Picnic. lol

      Hi Colleen,
Well Jenny doesn’t want to talk about any of her personal business and at this point I guess we will not rock the boat. So we will just zip our lips. I’ve found if they don’t want to talk and you approach them on it they will just lock you out completely which i don’t want to happen. You can’t make people share their feelings with you if they don’t want to. I do appreciate being able to come here and talk and everyone listening and giving thoughts and advice. It makes me feel so much better. No one guaranteed that life would be easy and I just have my eyes on the future when “this too shall pass.” I am the eternal optimist so I have hopes for a happy future for everyone and I just keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason-even if I can’t see or understand that reason at present. That’s what I tell myself to keep putting one foot ahead of the other.
Where did the kids go for vacation. Your house will be so peaceful and quiet. And then you will see Ethan and Kaylee-that will be great as I’m sure you have missed them a lot. They will have a lot to tell you about their new home and friends. I’m assuming both Stephen and Melissa will be there too. He must have some leave.
I was just thinking both you and Adele have Amandas, you have Melissa and she has Marissa, and you have Kaylee and Kylie-no wonder we can’t keep them all straight! lol It’s like a tongue twister. A couple glasses of wine and the names would start to all blur together. lol
Thank goodness we are not fish and don’t like to eat worms and leaches and bugs. lol Actually the koi eat food kind of like little nuggets of dried dog food. We keep it out by the pond but we have to keep the bottle of it in a cooler otherwise a raccoon would come along and steal it and eat it. We have had a deer and two fawns coming to the yard recently. The fawns are so precious! I just want to go squeeze them and play with them. lol
One good thing-the crazy cardinal has not been back this spring so I’m thinking he must have went to the big bird sanctuary in the sky. We have a couple other cardinal pairs out there but no more head bangers. That little guy was certainly obsessed.
Enjoy your peace and quiet and then all your activity when all the kids come there. I hope you can talk Ron into that pool to keep all the kids occupied. I know they would love it. Kids and water just sort of go together. I remember when I was a kid I could swim all day.

First, can I please say I feel so bad after finally getting a chance to read you all’s posts, and seeing all that you are going through. I am so so sorry that I have been so selfish and worried about my own troubles that I forgot how life stops for non of us, and you all are going through things too. I really feel bad. You have all been so kind and loving to me with your encouragement and your prayers. Every bit of this is coming right back in each of your directions that the good Lord will help you in your own personal needs.
Adele, I kind of got from your note that you have a scooter now. If so, yoo hoo for you. Anything that will help you to get around easier is great. I have tried so hard to get Jerry to get one, but so far he won’t but I just know it will help him. Please do keep a good watch on the blood sugar and blood pressure things. BOTH (old nurse here) can be really affected by STRESS, and I know Colleen has probably already told you this. Do you by any chance have one of those wrist BP monitors that they sell on the Q or at Walmart of Walgreens? I use one on Jerry everyday at the same time and it keeps a record of the readings so I can just take it with us to the dr. and he can see a full 30 days of readings. Jerrys tends to go up when he is hurting worse or even just by being in the drs office. His impatience is one of the things that really affects his. You mights want to think of getting one. Since you have already had the 24 hr. urine test, that tells a lot of info as well as the fasting blood sugar blood draw. Prayers coming your way. One idea is taking good deep slow breaths, kind of a yoga thing without exercise lol, but it relaxes your body and mind. I know you are worried about Amanda. I am praying for her too, and poor Gary, after his hard year, now he has the worry of a van for his deliveries. As they say, when it rains it pours, doesn’t it?
Gail, heaven only knows I am the absolute LAST person on earth to give you any advice on matters of the heart, having Jenny understand that you are only there to love and help her and the children. I think that I am an example of what every mother, MIL, grandmother should NOT say or do. I feel so helpless, worthless, and useless, and you are always the most optimistic person I can think of. As far as Joeys wedding, dumb and dumber jerry and I thought they were getting married on July 7th, until last night when we saw Joey for the whole of 15 minutes or so, and he said it is the 21st of July and they will be leaving on the 17th. I KNOW it was originally the 7th, because I checked my I pad last night with Jerry and it was down on the 7th. But, we just took it and told him how much we love him, and miss him, and to come and see us whenever he can. Our life has been in such turmoil for so long that I told Jerry yesterday that if my tests will just come out okay, that he and I MUST go somewhere when it gets cooler and stay gone until we feel the pull to come back, whenever that might be. It has been almost 4 years now since we have done anything like this, and I am turning 70 in Sept. and I just must, must celebrate these 70 years. I have cried so much for so long, and worried and worried, and it has changed absolutely n o t h i n g. Now you can see how I fail you, Gail, when I would give anything to be able to help you. I gave up on having a party. Joey told me that he loved us so much for wanting to do this for them, but he feels he has been married for over 15 years, and that he would feel kind of embarassed tp act like a “newlywed”. So hope you and Gregg are able to push through these hard times, and she will come to her senses. Hugs coming to you with thanks for all you have done to help me.
DD, and Sue, hope you all are doing well. I know our son in CA. told us today the fires are up in the hills; so hope you are okay, and hope your knee is doing better Sue. You both live in such beautiful areas of the country, but I know you would disagree when the fires, flood, and snow and ice are reeking havoc. Sure hope you bug problem is better too DD. Sue, do you have someone to deliver your groceries, meds and such if you are not able to drive? I know how hard that was for me when I wasn’t able to drive. The storms have been so bad here, so I hope you all are not being affected by them.
Take care everyone. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love and a big hug, Barbara

      Hey Colleen
well. Amanda could not get approval form the insurance company to go to the urologist. She has to get a GP. I tried, with her to find one, and we had no luck. So, she has to go with the list from the insurance company.
My appointment went well. Blood pressure was 152/105. Not good, so he increased my blood pressure meds. I have to go back in a month. he also said my sugar level is fine, even though it was 127 at one point. he said we worry when it is 200 and over. But, I do not feel good when it is that high, so I will continue to work on it.
When I got back, Marissa came over, and planted the 4 things I got for the garden. She also fed all my trees, as they needed some fertilizer. I like the one that is the little ball beads, as it is easy to use, and lasts all summer. the crazy Luna went in the pool twice while they were here. she goes right to the backyard, and goes right into the pool. She is the funniest dog I ahve ever seen. Then, she runs all over the yard, in circles, until she poops herself out.
She also smells all over the yard. I think she smells the bunnies, chipmunks, and squirrels. i get such a kick out of her.
I hope Amanda is still coming tomorrow night for the Pesto. Everyone is looking forward to it.
Thank you for the birthday wishes for the Panda.
Have the girls come home yet? I bet you miss them awful!
your salad sounds real good, as I used to love crab, lobster and shrimp.
      Hope your day went well.

      Hey Gail
We are supposed to get thunderstorms tonight, and all tomorrow. It is getting real dark out there. no noise yet….
Thank you for the Panda birthday wishes.
Tell Brent Happy birthday too. I hope you are able to go down to see him. I know he would love that.
Dam. You do need to put your names on your chairs. Do you have another one you can use there? That was too bad that Piper’s game got moved. I hope you can get t the next one, as she loves you and Greg there to support her. I wonder what she will wear to the next one….LOL
Did you see AGT last night? I do not think any one act last night was that great. A few were good, but nothing out of this world, that I can remember. Maybe you can spark my memory????
We are still searching for a reasonable van. Hope tomorrow brings better luck.
Please read the post to Colleen for the rest of the news….LOL

      Hey Barbara
LOL….I do not have a scooter. I have no idea what I said to make you think that- it is real funny, and it gave me a good laugh. I should get one!
I do have a wrist blood pressure thingie, and have been using it all week. I love it, as it is so easy to use.
The doctor doubled my blood pressure meds today. I have to go back in a few weeks for a re-check. He also said the sugar level is fine- I have been going between 105 and 129 for a fasting one. he did all kinds of blood and urine today, so I will know more in 2 days.
I seriously think it is all the stress that has been making my body go wacky. Not that I was not wacky to begin with….LOL
You are not selfish at all. We are all worried about you!! You have been going through way more than us, accept for Gail. We are all very worried about her and Greg too.
I mess dates up too, and have to wrote them all done, so I do not forget. We all have so much going on, how can we keep everything straight?
I hope you and Jerry can make the travel plans you want for your birthday. that is something you both deserve, and need to do. you only turn 70 once, you know.
I hope your day went well. Please read my post to Colleen for all the news of the day.
      Love you!

      Hi Adele,
I hate this Obama care that we still have. We never had trouble going to the doctor that we needed to go to until now. It really aggravates me. I hope that Amanda finds a GP soon so she can get that problem taken care of. That will be expensive to go to the emergency room but a lot of people are doing that to keep from having to pay so many different doctors when they just to see the one. I wish that they would come up with something better.
I am glad that they increased your bp meds. I did not think that you had to worry about your blood sugar. Now your doctor goes a lot higher then mine but that could be because I am on the medicine and you are not. You just have to watch and keep it where you feel comfortable. My sugar drops a lot and that is aggravating. It is what it though.
I ordered a cheesecake from Juniors off of qvc the other day and we got it today. It was terrible and I was really disappointed. They shipped it in a regular box without any ice in it and it was completely thawed. When we took it out it was runny from getting so hot and it was flat as a pancake. It had blueberries on the bottom and it was supposed to be so good. I got it for Ron’s birthday and it was a flop. QVC said that they did not ship it out it came from Juniors. So I am going to try to contact them and let them know how disappointed I am. I just wanted to let them know and maybe they will make sure that nothing is shipped out of their company like that again. I could not believe they did that.
Luna is so funny. She knows where to go to cool off and be happy. It is also nice that she runs circles in the yard that probably dries her off and you do not get water all over the house. Dogs are smart. He would have a good time sniffing around here we have all kinds of animals that are around here. I think that our dogs are getting use to it and they do not go after the animals like they use to.
Amanda will come for her favorite dinner. She loves what you are cooking and so they will all come over. You always have your family at your house. You are lucky that you have them with you as much as you do.
The kids just left yesterday. I really do miss them. They won’t be back until Sunday or Monday. Then we will have to two grands from Tennessee here also. Then one day we are supposed to have all the kids here for the day. It will be fun to have them all here.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.

      Hi Gail,
Did you get the storms on Monday. We got those and it was really a mess. At least we did not get another lightening strike. So everything is working just fine.
Jenny is just a mess and she needs to get over herself. I guess that I should not say this but she needs to start thinking about everyone in the family. This does not just effect her life but all of your lives. I guess that is how I talk to my daughters and if they get mad they get mad. I hope that she is not like that with the kids. I am going to quit now I am going too far. This will get better. I have been thru a lot of crazy things with my daughters and it just works out. You just have to let them know that you are there and sometimes you do not need to talk about how they feel. Just let them know that you want to be able to talk to them and they do not have to talk about what is going on. Just talk about the kids and if she is going to stay in the house or what is she going to do. That way she is talking about things that she does not feel threatened about. It is about her.
It will just be the kids coming back. Melissa and Stephen have to work. He saves his leave for Christmas so they can come home then. We really like that better. Then we can have them here for the holidays The kids are going to stay here for a week and then they are going to their other grandmas and stay there for a week and she will meet Melissa and Stephen and give them back. So it will be nice.
The kids are all in Tennessee staying in a cabin in the mountains. It looks like a really nice place. They sent a picture of the scenery off the balcony at the cabin. It is kind of high up so I probably would never go out on it but it was pretty.
That is so sad that you are missing the cardinal. Now you will have to find a bird to come crash into your window. lol My mom’s bird has left but she thinks that she found a mate. I hope that she is right and we do not find it on the ground under the window. We will not tell her if we do. She seems happy to know that it found a mate and flew away.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Colleen what I am about to say will probably make you mad but Obama care has nothing to do with your insurance. You are no longer eligible for Obama Care when you go on Medicare. You need to research the plans available to you every year to see if your doctors & medicine are covered & switch to one that does. I have Highmark Blue Shield with Medicare & I have never run in to a doctor that does not take it. They even called to let me know a medicine I took was no longer covered but I did not take it anymore anyway as it was just for when I had the knee replacement. I am covered across the country & worldwide. It includes the prescriptions & has limited dental & vision. I know every year I get letters from other companies that want me to buy theirs but so far I have been happy with what I have. So you have to research & see what is available & best for your needs. None are perfect but some are better than others.
Also if you read the reviews this has been a common problem with Junior’s in the summer. QVC will refund your money.

      Hi Sue
So glad to hear from you, and know you are ok.
I wish I could choose form any insurance plan, but, I cannot the supplement plan for Medicare comes from my former employment. they give us about 3 or 3 plans to choose from, and that one is not on the list.
I just found out the results of the blood/urine work. I ahve very low vitamin D, whihc the doctor is calling in a prescription for, and the liver numbers are elevated. So, I will have an ultrasound on the liver, when the hospital calls to schedule it, and re-check the blood work to see if the numbers are the same. My liver numbers are sometimes elevated, and sometimes not, every time I have blood work done.
      Hope you are good!
I am attaching a pic of my first basil and parsley harvest.
It is pouring up here. I had to wait until it stopped atone point, to go out and cut the basil. Amanda is coming tonight for the Linguini and Pesto .
Hope your weather is better than ours.

      Hey Colleen
Wow- you will have a house full of kids. you better rest up while the girls are gone….LOL I bet you will all have a blast, but be real tired at the end of each day. That is a good tired, when you have fun.
The doctor was not concerned about my numbers of sugar at all. eh blood work came back- all normal accept the level of vitamin D was 13, and it is supposed to be more than 30. So, they are calling in a med for that. Also, the liver numbers were elevated. he wants to repeat the blood work next week, and have the hospital do an ultrasound on the liver, just in case. Good thing I do not drink….LOL
It is very aggravating when the insurance company does not pay for things. I hope mine will cover the vitamin D med, as you can get those over the counter.
Amanda is coming here for dinner tonight- see the post to Sue for details…..
Call the Q on the cheesecake. I am sure they will refund your money. That was awful. You were waiting for the nice cake, and you got a mess. I am so sorry that happened. that company will lose a lot of money of they did that to everyone. Who sends a cheesecake in the summer like that? Seriously?
Hope you are all good over there, as they are saying there are awful storms everywhere.

Adele It is different if your employer pays for your supplement. But most employers do not pay for your insurance at least not here. I was going to say you can get Vitamin D over the counter so I see you know. It may be different for you but my insurance does not pay for over the counter drugs. My doctor did write a prescription but they just walked out & got it off the counter. I just checked I got a bottle of 350 and it was not all that much. The price is not on the bottle & I don’t remember exactly the cost.
A lot of people are reporting in the reviews that their cheesecake was melted & not shipped in dry ice. That is why I check the reviews. QVC does refund the money & tells you to pitch it.
Did you hear there was another shooting at a Maryland newspaper? Some dead. Shooter in custody.

Sue you did not make me mad. We were not talking about people that have medicare unless Adele’s grand daughter is a lot older then I thought that she was. I do have family that have the Obama care and it is not worth the money they pay for it. I guess that we all have a right to our opinion.
I have ordered Juniors before in the summer and the winter and have never had this problem. They usually send it in the Styrofoam boxes. I do not know why they sent it this way this time. I was just letting off steam and qvc did take care of it. I am sorry that it made you upset that I said something.
Vitamin D is sold over the counter but sometimes if you need more the doctor will give you a prescription and it will work better then the over the counter. It is what the doctor thinks will work best for you.

      Hi Adele,
It will be fun to see all the kids together. They have not seen each other for a long time and being here will be fun for them. Just wish that we had a pool for them to swim in to give them something to do. I just keep trying but Ron will not listen. He is so stubborn. I think that one day I will just take off by myself and leave him with the kids and he can think of something for them all to do. That would be interesting.
They have called in vitamins for me before when they are so low. You may have to take them until it comes up and then they will have you get them over the counter. I have never had trouble with the insurance over them. I hope that it goes okay for you.
That is so nice that Amanda is coming for dinner. Your basil looks really good. You have been having a lot of good luck growing it. How many were there for dinner? I bet that you had a few and it was a good meal and a lot of fun.
I did call the q and they did refund my money. I was just letting off steam I was so upset. I have bought cakes from Juniors for a lot of years. They have always been delivered still frozen and no problems. I am going to call the company and talk to them and tell them that they should not ship in those boxes unless it is going somewhere close to where they are. I do not want them to give me anything I just want them to be aware of what is happening. I was told that they ship them directly from Juniors. So that may be the problem.
We had another storm here tonight. They had not predicted it so it was a surprise. There was a lot of lightening and that was scary. It did not strike anywhere so that was good.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

I thought you were talking about your insurance with Medicare. I agree Obama care is horrible for others. It got worse when Trump quit funding it. When he cut funding people must chose something cheaper (none are cheap) & then it is very limited as to what it pays.
That is what I was saying about Vitamin D when my doctor wrote a prescription the pharmacist went out & grabbed a bottle off the counter for me it is the same.
About Junior’s there have been a lot of complaints recently. They are trying to save money because it is expensive to ship in dry ice. Maybe they will see they are not saving money when the customer get a refund. They are not the only company doing it. There have been complaints about Jimmy the Baker too. DD must have got a good one as people are saying the icing is running all over the place. They are not shipping in dry ice either. That is why I did not order as it is to hot right now. We are to have 7 days of over 90 with humidity making it feel well into the 100’s. We had been cool in fact 50’s some mornings earlier this week as we had a cold front coming from Canada. But now the heat is coming for most of us. He did put my AC in Thursday night but have not used it much yet.
If I can say something else. Maybe Ron is thinking of the kids safety as so many children fall in the pool & drown. So unless you have a fence around & they cannot get in without an adult being there I would be worried. There had been a pool here where I live but they took it out & filled it in with dirt. Not many around here have pools because of the danger. We had a drowning several years ago. I knew the childs grandma. you just never know when a child will wonder off when you are not looking.

      Hi Ladies,
Sorry I’ve been offline for a few days. Well, I’ve done it again! I was dreaming/having a nightmare, & I escaped by falling on the floor, AGAIN!! And yes I hurt myself again! It was a repeat of last summer. But this time I have a couple cracked ribs, to go along with the pain of the fall. I need to get a bed that I can strap myself in. I guess the twin bed wasn’t such a great idea after all. I’m okay as long as I’m up & about, but getting into & out of bed is agonizing!!!
I still haven’t had the bug treatment yet. The packers are supposed to come this week just in time for the holiday.
CIJ is starting tonight. It seems like it’s too early for it. Summer’s barely got started. I hear the country East of the Rockies is under a heat alert. Compared to that we’re chilly, but I’ll take chilly. Our summer doesn’t start till July 5th anyway. It’s gonna be nice they say. 80 is fine with me.
There’s more I want to talk about but I’m tired so I’ll close for now.
      take care.

      Hi Sue,
It is really hot here also. I wish that we could be looking forward to cooler weather but that will not happen Any time soon. I hope that you are doing better with your legs and not feeling so weak. Just keep doing the exercises that will help.
One good thing about what President Trump did with insurance is drop the penalty for not having insurance. My daughter cannot afford insurance so she did not have to pay a penalty. She is on her own and cannot afford the insurance and the job she has right now does not offer it.
I guess that DD had the luck that I use to have with Juniors. My things have never been shipped like that. I will probably never order from them again do not want to be disappointed like that again.
Sue you can say anything that you want. Ron does think about that he also does not want to do all the work that comes with putting an above ground pool in. He says that he has too much to do. I hope that he can find a lot ot things for the kids to do because I am leaving it up to him.
I am glad that you got our AC in and will not be burning up. Have a good day.

      Hi DD,
You may have to put those bars on your bed like they do for kids. Where we live you can get them at second hand stores or at baby stores. That sure be better then falling out of bed and hurting yourself. They must be some really bad nightmares. Do you know what causes them? I will be praying for you and that you will not fall our to bed again. You may be able to just put pillows by your bed so at least if you fall out it will be on something soft. Just be careful.
They are really taking their time getting there to pack your stuff and spraying. I hope that they get that done quick so you can get on with things. I do not like waiting for people to do things like that.
Did you see Davids Big Christmas? I thought a lot of the things that he had on his show was really expensive. I did not buy anything but really would have liked to have that truck with Santa in it. They sold out of a lot of things and that really surprised me. I guess it is because it is in July and people have the extra money right now and it was on easy pay.
Please take care of yourself and take it easy with those cracked ribs. I hope that they gave you something for the pain.

      Hi Ladies,
I hear it’s really hot out there. We must be the only part of the country that isn’t under that heat. It’s in the low 70s with puffy clouds around. Perfect. I’ll try to send it out there. The fires are out as far as I know. But it’s still very dry & with fireworks in the future it doesn’t look good. Fireworks have pretty much banned around here. There are a few stands, but nothing like it used to be. They started cracking down on em yrs ago, but not enough to stop that kid from throwing one down into the canyon last summer.
Colleen, I’m sorry to hear about the cheesecake. Something sounds fishy to me. I always get mine in a Styrofoam container shrink wrapped in plastic, with the box inside it, along with the dry ice. But I do have to say I usually get the minis in the winter so they wouldn’t be melted. But I’ve gotten steaks, burgers in the warmer months & they were packed in the Styrofoam as well. I wonder if someone broke into the pkg enroute, & found a cheesecake instead of steaks or something like that.. I can’t imagine Junior’s doing something like that on purpose. Makes for bad business.
Is anyone watching CIJ today? Lots of cute things for the home. Also expensive things. I did preorder the 4 side dishes, the mini cheese cakes. If they come out with a smaller pack up I’ll get it instead. I made a comment on David’s FB page, saying 32 is way too much for one person. Someone volunteered to help eat them, lol.
I’m walking around in a fog today cuz I didn’t sleep much last night due to the pain. I took the pain killers but it wasn’t helping. I’m okay once I get up, but moving around to get in or out of bed is horrific. I have an apt with my Dr. tomorrow, so maybe he’ll prescribe a more potent dosage. I HOPE!!!!
Barbara, you’re not being selfish or self centered. We all need someone to talk to & that’s what we’re here for.. Not to worry.
I’ll be so happy when they get this bug thing taken care of. I was talking with Kay the other day & we both agreed that bagging everything up would defeat the purpose. By bagging everything you could be packing up the bugs, & re releasing em back out when you unpack. Seems to me everything should be sprayed. Neither one of us remembers packing up everything before. They’d send in the exterminators & they’d spray everything down, & spray outside the apt, across the hall & up & down the hallway.
I think the q will be having summer clearance this week, due to the holiday. QF is on one day, Monday or Tues. I think.
I guess that’s about it from here.
Have a wonderful 4th of July.

Hello everyone. It is SO hot here today that the only thing we have done is to run into town to pick up our prescriptions, and stop by the sandwich making shop for sandwiches for our dinner. I got chicken salad on wheat and Jerry went for some kind of cold cuts with lots of spinich and other condiments. I added tomato to mine, and lettuce and cucumbers. We are having this really bad heat advisory thing here, and it is so bad on people with respiratory problems and the elderly. It is to last for quite a while, we are also getting lots of storms too. Hope your weather stays good for your visit with the grands, Colleen. It is hard for little ones to be stuck inside. I know you all will make lots of good memories. You and Ron better be getting your rest before all the excitement. It will be a sweet time for everyone.
DD, I am so sorry you had your accident. Falling of any kind is dangerous, and cracking your ribs is very painful. Did they wrap your ribs or give you something for pain? I hope so. I wanted to let you know that I ordered from Amazon a bed rail thing that helps me get out of bed. It is only about 2 feet long, and it slides up under our mattress while the part I grab on to comes up from the part that is under the mattress and that is the rail part I use. The doctor suggested one when I first had my stroke, and I still use it. I cannot remember how much I paid for it, but it wasn’t terrible. It helped me so much to turn too and to get in and out of the bed. You may want to look in to one. Hope you are doing better, but I know it will take a while.
Colleen, I have been very lucky in ordering frozen food from the Q. I got the mini cheesecake from Juniors, and they were shipped with the dry ice. I also ordered the I think it is called Jimmy the baker cinammon rolls and they came in good shape too. But I should say it was like May when I ordered them both, and one time I did order some of the nuts with chocolate pieces from Germack? I think it was and they were melted but seems it was later. I did get a refund though, but was still charged the shipping for some reason.
It is a shame Adele, that Amanda has to have a GP dr. before they will let her see a urologist but that is how they did me too about my problem. There was not one single thing my GP could do for me but call the gyn. dr; which I was perfectly capable of doing myself, but you just have to follow the rules. It is getting kind of scary. So happy your blood sugar is good. Please keep up with your BP. Glad to know you have a monitor. I really like the one we use. Hope Gary can find his van he needs. Is it a special kind of van?
Sue, we don’t have the Highmark supplemental here. I guess different plans are offered in different areas? Yours sounds good. I am so glad you have a good one. It makes all the difference in the world doesn’t it?
well, better go for now. Take care everyone. Hope things are looking up for you all Gail. Sometimes family matters just break our hearts; especially when we can’t seem to say or do the “right” thing. Boy, do I ever relate to that feeling. Hang in there as best you can. Hugs to you all, Barbara

      Hi Barbara,
My girls and their families just got back from Tennessee. I am not sure it was as hot in the mountains as it was when they went into town. They all really had a good time and said that it was really pretty in Tennessee. They went in to town one night and ate at Paula Deans. They said that they had an our and a half wait. They waited though because they wanted to taste the food. They said that it was really good. My two grand kids that live in Tennessee did not get to come back with them. I do not want to get into it right now it makes me want to cry.
We have been eating out while the kids were gone. We got some things done around the house that we needed to do so that is all done for now. I wanted to get new curtains for the living room but did not get to do that because of the car trouble that we are having. We could go into town but there are not stores that sell drapes like we want. The only big store that we have is JC Penny and it is about as big as Dollar Store.
I am glad that you could tell DD where to find those bar things to put on a bed. They will really help her to not fall out of bed. It will at least let her know that she is rolling into them.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night. Still praying that you get really good news from the doc.

      Hi DD,
I wonder if they are going with a professional company if they will do all of that. If they do not get rid of the bed bugs they will get a bad reputation. They really do not want to do that. I just hope that this time they get rid of them.
I watched some of it and it was kind of expensive. Especially the Davids big Christmas. I could not afford anything hardly on that show. It was more for young singles that have a lot more money then I have. I would love to have the Santa in the truck but $200.00 Is a little more then I would want to spend on it. We have the room for it just not the money.
Do you have a recliner that you could sleep in. It would make it easier to get up and down. I am not sure if you have one that is hard to get to go up and down but if it is easy then I would try that. Just til your ribs are not hurting as much. I would try anything to get a good nights sleep. I think that we feel pain at night worse then any other part of the day.
I heard that qvc was having the fashion clearance also. I know that they only have one Quacker show that I saw. Maybe she will have clothes in other shows like Kates closet of someone like that I am not sure if I will buy anything or not. Will have to see what they have.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Adele,
I get 5000IU vitamin D at Costco. During the winter months I double up on it every day. It’s not that expensive really. I doubt the insurance will pay for it. Unless the Dr. writes a script for a larger dose. I took care of a lady who took a high dose from the Dr. But she took it only once a month. I’d just get a bottle of vitamin D from your local pharmacy.
When I went to the ER the other day the Dr. gave me a script for Lidocain pads but the insurance wouldn’t pay for it since it’s sold over the counter.

Ladies, can I ask a dumb question? When you were raising your children would you allow them to play in what you might consider a dangerous place? I saw a post on my FB page from Shawn of her baby Jagger. They were on their back patio made of bricks,& with dangerous sharp edges. Jagger is barely learning to walk & get around. She was teetering to keep her balance & nearly fell forward onto a sharp brick step coming out of the house. I was holding my breath watching her. I can’t say I raised any kids, but I sure wouldn’t let my baby play in a place like that. Maybe it’s just me. We played out in the back yard with grass that was softer than bricks.
Well, I better close for now.

      Hi Sue
I did hear about the shooting. It made me sick. When are they going to realize we need stricter gun laws. You always find out later the police were aware of the shooter, and had issues with them. It is a hard call, as if they do not commit a jailable offense, what can they do?
The pill he gave me is a prescription. It is a once a week pill. After I am done with it, he said to get the over the counter ones. Did your doctor do the once a week pill in the beginning too?
It is gross up here. I bet your place is bad too.
We went to see my friend Winnie in the nursing home yesterday, and I was pooped when we got back. hope you are ok, and staying cool.

      Hi colleen
This pill is once a week for the first 12 weeks, then I go to over the counter. the insurance did cover this one, so that was good. You would think a once a week pill was less strong than one daily. Weird.
It will be nice for all your grands to be together. I hope Ron gets a pool before they get there. the heat has been just awful. Our pool water is so warm, it could not be counted as refreshing….LOL
We will be in the 90’s with high humidity all week.
the wall repair guys are here. i feel so bad for them out there in this heat. i honesty thought they would cancel, due to the weather.
I am writing quick responses, as I ahve so many to read….LOL

      Hey Sue
Where is that Blue jean chef? On line or on TV? Thanks for the comment on my herbs. they are doing really well this year. the asparagus is starting to come up too- but, the stalks are very thin.

      Colleen and Sue
It is awful when a child drowns. Every summer we hear of quite a few, in pools, in lakes, and the ocean. It breaks your heart. We hear of adult drownings too- a lot in boats, etc. An awful way to die, when you are trying to have fun.

I am so sorry you hurt yourself. broken ribs are awful, as it hurts with each breathe. Did you go to the ER? Can you put the bed against the wall on one side, and then get a rial for the other side? Gary has a rail on his side of the bed- got it from Ebay.
Our weather is beyond gross out there, and the wall repair guys are here. I feel so bad for them out there in the heat. They said they are ok- we checked twice so far, to see if they need anything.
I did some serious damage with CIJ. I got gifts for everyone, and that TSV Santa….LOL

      Hi DD
The idea of bagging everything up, as is, will not work. You are quite right. They are supposed to wash everything that is material, and dry it on high heat, then bag it up. Any other way is useless. Do you know if they will wash all your things before bagging them up? It is just awful to prep for bed bugs. My heart goes out to you, and I hope this will be the last time. If the people they send will not do it right, can you call the elderly assistance line the cities have for help? Just an idea, as I ahve no idea if they do, or do not.
How is Kay? This is the first time you mentioned her in a bit. Any news on Critt?
My friend Winnie is still in the nursing home. She got an infection in the incision, besides not being able to raise that leg, she now has this to deal with too. I wish I could wave a magic wand, and have everyone be ok.
I hope your doctor will at least wrap your ribs, so the pain is lessened. I ahve heard of them doing that, but not sure if they still do.
Colleen mentioned a Santa in a truck on CIJ. i did not see that one!
hope you are a little better.

      Hi Barbara
Amanda still has no appointment, as she has been working doubles since she went back to work, to make up for the money she lost. I hope she gets to it this week.
We are having the same weather as you. When we visited Winnie yesterday, she was on the 6th floor, and all you saw was the haze over Boston- she has a view of the sky line from her room. yuck.
I was happy the vitamin was covered. My blood pressure is not going down by much at all. It is still in the high range, but, not as high as before.
It is too hot to cook. We are having either cereal, or sandwiches tonight. I am doing an ice box pie for Wednesday, and ice cream. I got that electric ice cream maker. I am going to try it out tonight…..Ill let you all know. It was on sale.
hope you are cooler than we are!

that is so cool that you have a Paula Dean restaurant in your area. I bet the food is delicious.

I would have held my breathe too, as i am way too overprotective of babies. I go to the extreme, and drive them all nuts over here. I freak out when they go somewhere there is a crowd of people. I get so scared something will happen.

I hope everyone is cool today!! It sound slike I missed a lot of stuff on the Q yesterday, when we went out to see Winnie…..LOL

      Hi Ladies,
I’m back. I went to the Dr. today & he told me what I have is called a “buckle” fracture in the 3rd & 4th ribs. Kinda like a hairline fracture. It isn’t broke all the way thru. They happen most often in kids since their bones are softer. Actually it doesn’t hurt to breathe. I took deep breaths at the Dr’s & didn’t feel any pain. Everything will heal on its own, just a matter of time. I was able to cook some chicken for dinner last night. And I took a couple aspirin before going to bed & I was able to sleep thru the night except for going to the bathroom just before dawn. and I was able to get out of bed without as much pain.
Apparently the aspirin worked better than the pain killer they prescribed. I think the muscles are bruised & that will take time. Sigh.
Thanks to everyone for your concerns & ideas for the rails to put on the bed. I’ll check it out.
I know about washing all your bedding, clothes, towels & bagging them up, but what I’m talking about DVDs, knick knacks, décor, etc. It just seems like they could hide & then be re released after unpacking. That’s why I think it defeats the purpose.
You guys would LOVE the weather out here. We’re the only spot in the country that isn’t under the heat advisory. I gotta get you guys to move out here so you can see what I mean. You’d be wearing a sweater out here today. I know I complain a lot about our weather, but I wouldn’t trade it for all that heat & humidity for anything.
I guess you did miss a lot on the q yesterday. The TSV was cute but not worth $125. They had metal Christmas characters, Santa, MR. Snowman & a Nutcracker, in red/green, or gold/silver. They stood 52″ high, so they weren’t small. They had a lot of nice things, but all I pre-ordered were the 4 side dishes, & Junior’s mini cheesecakes.
I’m gonna try & go grocery shopping tomorrow. Operative word is try!!! I’ll let ya know how it goes.
Oh, I haven’t heard anything from Critt. All I know is he’s in the VA hospital. Kay’s health is declining.
Well, I better go get something to eat.
      talk to ya later.

      Hi Ladies,
Well I had a pretty big day today. First I walked over to the store for some last minute grocery shopping for tomorrow. I no sooner got home than the packers/movers came. I had already done some of it. So now I’m sitting here with tubs, & black bags surrounding me. Now here comes the punch. The exterminator won’t be coming till next Tues. One good thing is that it’ll give me some time to clean up the dust bunnies that have been hiding behind the furniture. Oh well.
Oh, I gotta tell ya something. One of the guys was smitten with Jewell & her big blue eyes. Actually all three were smitten with her, but this one guy had to pet her & scratch her ears before leaving. I’m just surprised she let him. I thought for sure she’d be under or behind something. She was up on the bed supervising everything going on. lol

It looks like we’ll be up in the 80s the next couple of days. Was it me or did it feel like Friday today. I guess cuz the holiday is in the middle of the week. I hate that.
Well, have a wonderful holiday & stay cool!!!

      Hi Adele,
I had to take a pill like that for my iron and for my B12 it just depends on how bad it is. I think that the ones that they give you a script for is stronger and may have some other things in it to help take care of things faster. Then you can go to a lesser dosage.
My oldest daughter would not bring the two grands that live in Tennessee home with her. She decided that there was no room in the van. They had room when they rented it but all of a sudden there was no room. So my oldest and I will be having words soon. She has not called me since she got back. I think that she feels really guilty. She should.
I do not see how they are working outside in this heat. It is really hot here also. We will never get a pool. He is just too honery to let us get one. I do not know what it will take for him to do tins. We do not have any kids that live anywhere close to us right now. It will just be family that would get into it. We will have a fence around it so none of the kids can get in until we want them to. I just wish that Ron would stop being so stubborn.
The Paula Dean restaurant is not in our area. It is in Tennessee where they went on vacation. They said that they have really good food. They said that they serve it all family style. They really had a good meal and enjoyed it. The only trouble is it is a long wait to get in. They waited for an hour and a half to get in. I would have given up and left but they really wanted to eat there.
Not much else going on here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
That is nice that they came and got things packed right now. It is a shame that they are not coming to spray until next week I wish that they would have washed everything before they packed it up. I would ask the guy that sprays about them just packing that stuff up. They may be able to tell you what to do.
That is really cute that they were smitten with Jewel. You may have to watch they may kidnap her. lol You do not find many people that like cats like that. They do not like dogs either.
That is good that you could get some shopping done. Are you fixing a meal for you and Kay for the 4th? That would be nice if you can eat together. I am sorry that you have not heard anymore from Crit. I hope that you hear something soon.
the 80’s sounds really cool to me. We are under a heat warning tonight until later this week. We will not be sure if it will be over with by then. They never know what is going to happen. We can go outside and check the weather and be just as accurate as the weathermen. This is a mess.
Thank you for posting the pictures. They are really nice and so cool looking. Have a great night.

      Hi DD
I am so glad your ribs are getting better. Aspirin always works better, as it reduces the swelling. At least, that is what I ahve found over the years with my ortho issues.
I am sorry you have not heard about Critt, and that Kay is getting worst. It is so terribly sad when we come closer to losing our friends.
my friend Winnie is now having IV antibiotics, as the infection in her incision is not getting better. She is hoping after the IV is done in 10 days, she will be out of there. She is getting disgusted. can;t blame her.
Well, it is really gross out here. I went out on the deck to clean up the dirt mess an animal made, and you can;’t breathe out there, and it was 9:00am.
I am so bewildered that you live on the coast, and do not get the gross humidity we get. Very strange, but, so good for you….LOL
Making the Pesto tonight again…. too hot to even cook macaroni….OOL

      Hey DD
Glad you got some food shopping done, with no pain.
Sorry they have the exterminator coming so far after the packing. That stinks. I hope this is the last time. I am praying for you.
Jewell must have liked that man. Animals recognize when a person is a good person.
It is gross here again. Tomorrow we will have storms and the humidity will finally drop.
I had an animal come on the deck, and get into one of the basil window boxes. He dug , and made quite a mess. did not eta the basil. Very odd.
Hope your day is better then ours out here. We all need to move out there! Or, go to Canada.

      Hi Colleen
That is so sad Ron will not get a pool. What is his objection? Once it is up and running, it takes care of itself. You just add the chemicals eveyr couple of days, and put in the automatic robot vacuum- that goes by itself too.
It has been so hot and humid here. really gross. We had thunderstorms today, and the humidity is supposed to drop tonight.
Steph came over with the boys yesterday. She finally called me. I am still a little annoyed, but, it was good to see all of them, and life is too short to hold grudges. Besides, she holds enough for the entire family….LOL
I am attaching a pic of some of the ornaments I finished- yahoo!!
That is so sad your daughter did not take the kids back to see you. I would feel the same way as you.
I hope your day is going well, and it is not as hot as it is here.
