I hope everyone is having a nice Easter. I was only able to get on here a little while ago. I had no internet connection all day so I don’t know what was wrong. At least Gail’s photo’s look like Spring. I think we are going to pass by Spring and go straight to summer one of these days. The sun did finally come out today but we are to get snow tonight into tomorrow morning. I sure hope not another foot.
I made ham loaf, mac & cheese and asparagus for Easter. Have leftovers if anyone is still hungry.

      Hello Everyone,
Hope you all had a nice Easter.
Sue, wouldn’t it be nice if we could all just go back and forth and drop in on each other to share a bite to eat and chat some.
Colleen, it’s good that everyone appreciated you catering to their dietary needs. It makes you feel good. Sorry you had to cook an extra Easter-at least it was scaled down as there was a less amount of people.
Adele, you are surely our Queen baker as you even have the cookies in their little paper wrappers. How cute is that. I hope everyone appreciated your hard work.
DD I hope you and Kay shared a nice meal. She probably appreciates the good home cooking after all that time away from home.
Barbara, I hope you and Jerry had a wonderful Easter and got some face time with Colin.
We had a good time. Brunch was in a different room this year. It actually was a little smaller and brighter and was not quite as rustic as the large banquet room. Very nice! Afterwards we went home and took a little snooze before the kids came over later in the day for an Easter egg hunt and our chip, fruit and sandwich dinner. I must say i now love this no stress, no muss, no fuss holiday. it’s getting to be my favorite. If only the weather had been a bit nicer. it was cold.
After everyone went home we watched Jesus Christ Superstar. I thought it was a very good production. I can’t believe I know every word to that musical but cannot remember where i left something yesterday. lol
Adam is starting to prepare the bedroom in their basement for Enya to move in. It is going to be like musical houses. Jenny’s inlaws,Dick and Gail are going to move from their house in town out to the farm, their son Nathan and his wife and daughter are going to move into Dick and Gail’s house in town, I think they are perhaps buying it from Dick and Gail. Gabby is going to move out to the farm with Dick and Gail and attend junior college. Enya is going to move in with Jenny and Adam until she graduates in December (she is doing early graduation)and then she wants to move out to Washington with Adam’s sister and I think go to pastry school. In the meantime Gabby and Enya’s Mom who still lives with Dick and Gail will have to find a place for her and her other child to live as there is not enough room at the farm. I think she may go live with her boyfriend. Anyway, it’s like musical houses. lol I think at this point Jenny and Adam are going to find that they are sorry that they didn’t add that extra bathroom when they fixed up the basement. Greg and I really wanted them to do that at the time but I think they didn’t want to spend the money to do it then. Oh well-they can always add one later if need be.
Brrrrr! It’s so chilly! I know it’s snowing again out east.

      Hey Sue
I love asparagus and mac and cheese. i have been in the mood for mac and cheese for a while. I bet it was delicious. I have no leftovers on the broccoli/cauliflower casserole I make. This time, I added some gruyere cheese, and they loved it even more. You could do it for yourself too, just cut down the amounts:
one head of cauliflower, and an equal bunch of broccoli- cute up and par boil for 5 minutes
Place into a baking dish- 9×12
Sprinkle with an 8 oz bag of shredded cheddar
sprinkle some shredded gruyere cheese- not as much as the cheddar, maybe 4 oz.
sprinkle a generous amount of Italian flavored breadcrumbs over entire top
melt one and a half sticks of butter, and gently pur over the breadcrumbs
bake at 375 for about 45 minutes, until the breadcrumbs are browned.
You would love it, I am sure. The new Balsamic Root Veggies in the Slow Cooker, was not a big hit. Only 2 people liked it. I will find another recipe to try in there.
Hope you did not get a lot of snow- we got about an inch- it did not stay on the roads- only on the grass.
I watched the play Jesus Christ Superstar, did you? I had never seen it. They did a great job.
Hope your day is going well!

Once again we got more snow than you. We had 5 or 6 inches this morning. It is melting but still some out there. We were to get sun but have not seen it. So the snow is still on roofs, grass but the roads are clear now. A tractor trailer truck overturned on one of the interstate highways so it must have been bad for a while.

      Wow, Sue!
The little we got is already off the trees. It warmed into the low 40’s. I heard it is supposed to be 60 tomorrow, but not too sure as I ahve not seen the news yet.
I bet we will have that accident on our news tonight.
Just saw a blip on the news- 60 will be on Wednesday.
Have you seen the show “Good Girls”? I get a kick out of that one. One of the husband’s used to be on Mike and Molly- he was Mike’s partner on the police department. That is the first time I have seen him on anything.
Hope you have a good night!

      Hi Ladies,
I hope all of you had a nice Easter, except for the snow. Seriously? Snow on Easter??!! We didn’t have snow but they’re saying the snow levels are coming back down again this week. We may see flakes mixed in with rain later this week. so you’re not the only ones having crazy weather!!! We had a couple nice days, but they didn’t last long. According to one of the weather apps I have they were calling for snow & rain mix today, but I didn’t see any.

I made a pork loin, mashed potatoes, gravy, & steamed asparagus for Easter dinner. I wasn’t sure how to cook a pork loin so I looked it up & I ended up putting some of the barbeque sauce I got from Corky’s on it & put it in the oven. I took a plate down to Kay, & another of our neighbors. Jay had come to my door asking for a cup of sugar last week. then the other evening he brought me a 4 lb bag of sugar. I asked him if he’d like some dinner I told him to go get his plate. So he came back with a big bowl as he broke the plate. Kay sure liked the barbeque sauce on the pork. I took a couple globs of the sauce & a glob of honey mustard, mixed it up then spread it over the meat.
Did you catch the 2 hr QF show today? Lots of pretty tops again. I’d love to get a pair or two of those shorts, but they didn’t have any easy pays on em.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
Have a grrrrrrrrrreat week. Stay safe & warm.

      Hi DD,
Glad that you had a nice Easter. Greg loves barbecue sauce on pork! But of course he is the same guy who puts ketchup on eggs, potatoes and everything else under the sun.
I did see the Quacker show. The shorts are very nice as they are long. On me, since I am short, they actually hit about mid knee. When we went to Disney world a couple of years back I lived in them in the hot Florida sun.
We may or may not get some snow today. It depends on hour far south the system hits. Greg was going to take the plow off the truck but he decided to wait a bit. I remember getting a snow storm in mid April several years ago so we are not out of the woods yet.

Got a short note from Barbara saying Jerry hurt his back. They were about to go to the hospital but then Joey came home and helped them-so I guess that means maybe they didn’t go to the hospital. She said he is doing a little better. So I think we all need to send some prayers their way.

      Hey DD!
I was too busy getting all my Easter decorations down. I missed the show. I’ll look it up online. I hate when I miss a show.
That sounded like a great dinner. BBQ sauce on pork is always yummy. If you gnat another idea for pork loin, here is mine:

Put pork and cut up potatoes(you can leave the skin on if you like) and surround the pork with the potatoes
Chop up about 6 cloves of garlic- small
Salt and pepper the meat and potatoes, then sprinkle the garlic over both meat and potatoes
Put about 2 tablespoons of butter in each corner of the pan
Bake at 20 minutes a pound, and baste the meat and potatoes at least twice during the baking process.

Hope this helps with another way to do pork.
We are getting a lot of rain between tonight, and tomorrow night. About an inch of rain, they say. Yuck.
So, while putting away the decorations, i see my wedding album. I decide to look at it, and then I am in tears. It is more of a Memorial album, than a wedding one. I can’t believe the people who are gone- about one per page. Then, I ate chocolate. Seriously? It is 19 years old. We lose a lot of people in 19 years.
Roseann is on tonight- yahoo- I need funny shows after that experience.

      Hi Gail,
That is funny that they are all switching houses. Just hope that when they go home they go to the right house. lol That is nice that they have enough houses to do that. It is probably good that Adam’s x moves out of his mom and dad’s home. That had to be a little uncomfortable for Adam and Jenny. I think that it is really nice that Adam’s daughter is going to move in with them for awhile. I am sure that they will be glad that she is there.
Did you have to hide the eggs in the house this year? We could not have hidden the eggs outside this year it was so cold and we did have some freezing rain. This was a weird Easter this year. It would have been interesting watching the kids go sliding all over the place trying to find the eggs. It would have been an Easter to remember.
The room in the basement will be really nice when they get it done. I guess they will have to put the bathroom in now that Enya is moving in. I hope that it all goes really smooth for them. Will Greg help Adam put the room in? I wonder if they thought that she might not move in so they just put doing off. You never know what kids are going to do.
Did you watch the Chew Monday? I could not believe it when I saw Angel sitting at the tasting table. She was in the camera the whole time that Micheal Symon was making his food. I cannot remember what they called it. It was this thing with ice cream on it with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce on a hot dog bun. She said that it was very good but she does not look good eating on tv. She said all of that on the show on the q.
Did you watch the Rosanne show. I am not sure what I think of it. It was not bad but they could change a few things. They are making Jackie too strange on this one. I guess will have to watch a couple of more and see if she changes any.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
What is wrong with Jerry? I did not see a post from Barbara so do not know what happened. I hope nothing serious. It seems like there is just too many strange things happening everywhere.
That was really nice that Bobby helped with the dinner. He really seems to be a good person and helps you with a lot. It would be hard without him there. What makes it nice is all you have to do is keep him in cookies. lol
I am glad that Tillie is using the pillow that you bought her. That should help her a lot when she is sitting. She will not be as sore and a lot more comfortable.
It was 73 here this afternoon then as it got closer to evening it dropped to 40. Now it is in the 30’s. Do you think that we have snow no we don’t. We had rain and that was it. Now they are saying that Saturday and Sunday we will get snow. So we will probably get more freezing rain. All we want is a little snow that would be so nice.
I am not sure what I think of the Rosanne show yet. It is funny and is a lot better the some of the other shows that are on tv now. I am tired of listening to the news. They never have anything good to say about anyone or anything. There has to be some good out there somewhere. Did you watch the Chew Monday? Angel was on there again. She was sitting at the tasting table. She was in the right spot. You could see her during the whole cooking segment.
You have some really good recipes on here tonight. I will have to write them down and try them. I am cooked out right now. It is someone elses turn to cook around here.lol I can just see Ron in the kitchen cooking away. He is good at reheating things though and he will do that.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
We did not get snow here we had freezing rain. It was a mess. I am glad that we were at home and did not go to my mom’s on Easter. Saturday was a much nicer day.
Your Easter dinner sounds really good. It seems like we have the same thing every year. We always have ham. You would think that it was a law. The only thing that changes is the sides.
I really liked the Bandanna top that they had on the show. All three colors were pretty.I liked the shorts also. They were so cute. I did not order anything though. I just ordered some of the dream jeans that they had on sale for $33. I really need new dj. Next time that I order I will get some tops. I bought the orchid pair and now am thinking that I made a mistake. I am not sure what color will go with them. I always have a problem with that.
Thank-you for posting all the cheery pictures. They always cheer me up. That little kitten is so cute. It is just really nice that you post them for us.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
      Colleen

      Hi Colleen,
Thanks a lot! We woke up this morning to a couple inches of snow! I am filling buckets right now and UPSing it to you! lol Plus there may be more coming on Thursday.
We don’t hide eggs outside since there is money and candy inside of them. Don’t want the raccoons or possums or squirrels running off with them. lol
You know Jessica has been in Adam’s parents house so long that Jenny and Adam are kind of used to it by now-even though it is very odd-but they don’t go over there as much as maybe they would if she hadn’t been living there.
The basement at Jenny’s is already fixed up with a bedroom and a family room/play room down there. Greg did help when they were building it. At the time they talked about putting a bathroom down there but decided against it(even though Greg and I thought they should). I doubt they will do the work now with Enya living down there. The basement wasn’t plumbed for adding a bathroom so it makes it a bit more complicated but it is doable although the kind of toilet that you have to put in under those circumstances is more expensive and you have to dig into the concrete. So I doubt they will do it now.
I did not see The Chew when Angel was on it. Was this a repeat of when she was on before or did she go twice?
I have watched Roseanne-some was funny some not-but sometimes it takes a few episodes until a show hits it’s stride so i will continue to watch and see what happens. It was always such a great cast as a whole.
We don’t really know what happened to Jerry. I just had a note from Barbara saying he hurt his back and they were just about to go to the hospital when Joey came by and helped them and that he was doing a bit better. She asked me to pass the info on. That’s all I really know so hopefully she will come on and fill us in on the details when she can.
Keep an eye out for your UPS snow delivery! lol

      Hi Adele,
I hope you had a great Easter and everyone ate dinner with no complaints after all the hard work that you put in. Plus i hope everyone liked their socks! lol How are Nancy and Tillie?
We had a couple inches of snow last night and maybe more tomorrow.
So yesterday I had been up in the middle of the night wide awake so after i went back to bed I slept until about ten til nine. So I got up went downstairs and just was sort of rummaging around went into the bathroom and the phone rings and as I’m sitting there I I hear my hair stylist on the answering machine. Come to find out I had an appointment that morning at nine thirty and it was now 9:35-so she asks me if I can still make it in other wise she can’t see me until my other appointments at the end of March. So I jump into my clothes and run over there and get my hair done. Crazy morning!

      Hi Colleen
Gail got an email from Barbara. So, I do not know more than that. Gail did a small post about it. i hope Jerry is feeling better.
bobby is very fun when he is cooking with me. remember how I cut off a small section of my finger on Christmas? Well, I was using the knife to cut the plastic off the Gruyere cheese, and he grabbed the knife and cheese and said…”give me that before you cut yourself!” Gary laughed so hard, it was hysterical. Then Gary told Bobby he cannot leave me unsupervised with a knife.
Tillie’s psoriasis is getting better from the cream the doctor gave her. She also said using the pillow has helped. thank God, as I was getting pretty disgusted by the lack of any help for her. I told her this proves that you do need to go to a doctor, when something like this comes up.
Well, I ahve not really cooked since Sunday. Last night i did ham and eggs….LOL i don’t really consider that cooking. I will make a chicken soup tomorrow, as Tillie’s belly is bothering her, and we have all had a lot of very high fat content food….accept Gary who doe snot eat ricotta pies, Pizzaghiena, or the mini cheese cakes. He has only been having the Anise and Twisty cookies.
Gary goes to his doctor this afternoon. A check on his heart, etc.
Yesterday, Amanda stopped by, and then Marissa and Enzo stopped by last night. they all took more food/deserts with them…..LOL Amanda left Bobby a tiny piece of Pizzaghiena. It was so funny. There are only 4 Anise cookies left, and very little Twisty cookies too.
It is raining here again- supposed to be thunderstorms later, when the air changes to 60, or more. Then, snow Friday.
They are removing the 2 trees tomorrow. Pray for no further damage….LOL
Marissa went for an interview with a bank this morning. there are 2 positions, and she was there for 1 1/2 hours talking to the person who interviewed her. She said she has a lot of people to interview, and she would hear in about 2 weeks….please say a prayer for her to get it. Thanks!!

      Hi Adele,
Glad Tilly is doing better. That cortisone cream really helps a lot-the ones you get from the doc are so much better than the over the counter ones. I hope she realizes this trip to the doc was not so bad after all and will be more willing to go sooner next time.
So you need to wear kevlar gloves when working with kitchen knives? lol
It sounds like the grands pretty well took care of the left overs. It must make you feel good to know they like the food so much. You work so hard to put it on the table.
I hope Gary’s visit with the doctor went well and I hope Marissa gets the job. I will say a prayer for both.
At least you guys saw 60. We are cold and maybe expecting snow again tomorrow. Where is spring?

      Hey Gailster
That is really funny. Imagine if you were still in bed? Glad she was able to wait for you.
Well……guess who complained? He didn’t eat any corn, even though it was told to me several times not to forget the corn. He didn’t like the carrots in the crock pot,but neither did I, so we will not be making that again. so, with “the Gary face on”, he ate 2 huge helpings of mashed potato, some ham, no smoked turkey (even though everyone else LOVED the smoked turkey), and 4 rolls. I will not even mention how many cookies. His excuse for no corn….it was on the other side of the table. So was the ham. he was openly hostile when I asked about the corn, and said…# 4 roll??? That is when I started to lose it.
I was so mad, I barely spoke to him for 2 days, and quit cooking. Everyone was heating up the leftovers, so no complaints from them. The grands came and got more food to take home too. Also let him butter his own bagel, and told him he is 69, and it is time to grow up. He is on his way to his doctor even as we speak- to check heart progress.
So, it sounds like Jenny will have another child in the house soon? Any child is lucky to love there, as they have such a good time as a family. There will probably be a little period of adjustment, which I hope will be quick, for all of them.
Saw Roseann last night. What did you think? Not sure about the sink scene….was it funny, or not? On one hand it was,and on the other, it was not.
Hope you have a good night!

      Hey Gail
that is exactly how I feel about Tillie and the doctor. It did not need to get this bad. She has such an irrational fear of seeing a new doctor. It gets in the way of good care for her. At 91, there is not much I can do to affect any change, until it gets so bad, she agrees to go.
I am so stressed aorund here, I am losing my hair, at an incredible rate. there is so much hair in the tub drain, and when I comb out my hair, it is scary. I looked it up on line, and they say stress is a biggie. I hope it stops.
It is 54 degrees right now, and the sky is black. Wondering if a thunderstorm is ready to go.
The trees are departing tomorrow. Finally.
I think Bobby wants me banned from any sharp objects….LOL
Hope your day is going well.
      Adele
PS…Gary is still at the doctor’s.

      Hi Gail,
I am sorry that you are getting our snow. We want it but have given up on it. All we get is rain and freezing rain. It is really getting tiresome. So I have given up and am ready for spring. If I cannot have snow the flowers will be better. This weather is so cold here today and then it is supposed to be in the 60’s tomorrow. Then it is supposed to get cold again. This is crazy.
That is a shame that they cannot put a bathroom down in the basement. That would be a lot of work and expense to do it though. That would not be fun to have them dig up the concrete and put the toilet in. That would take a lot of time and the basement would be a mess. I hope that they have more then one bathroom. I do not know how we did it when the kids were all younger and at home.
This was the second time that she had been on there. She had a different top on. The only reason that I know that is it was a long sleeve denim top and she did not have that on last time. I think that the first time that she was there is was warmer. The thing that Micheal made was a Churro Sundae. So it was interesting. They all looked like they enjoyed it. I like the way Micheal cooks. He also has a new cook book out. It is about grilling and bbquing.
The play is this week-end and poor Brook has a cold. She has to do a lot of shouting in this play and she is afraid that she will lose her voice. They have to practice all week and they stay until 9p.m to do it. She should not make them stay that late with some of the cast having colds. They will all have to use sign language because they cannot talk. Or they will have to hold up q cards with their lines.
That was lucky that your beauty operator had time to do your hair. She sounds like a really nice lady. Why does that happen on a day when you sleep in late. Oh well it was nice to get to sleep in.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
That is funny about Bobby with the knife. They will never trust you with a knife again. Little do they know when you have been cooking as long as you have little accidents happen like that all the time. Cuts and burns. It would be nice if they just did all the cooking.
I am so glad that the cream and the pillow are working so well for Tillie. It was so good that you got her in earlier and got that taken care of . You really are good to her and take very good care of her. She is lucky to have you there to help her. I know that sometimes it is hard and you feel like pulling your hair out. Guess I should have used a different expression. That is good that you have not cooked for a few days. Seems like the last time you did this Gary did not complain for a few days. You need a break anyway you have to work so hard at cooking meals. Tomorrow is soup day here also. I have left over ham and I need to use it. We are having split pea and ham soup and ham and beans. Ron does not like the soup and he eats most of what I cook. This is another soup that I can use when he ticks me off.
My hair is coming out like yours is. It is really crazy when it does that. Women really get the worse of it. Our hair falls out and it grows on our chins. The least we could keep the hair on our heads and lose the hair on our face. That would be so nice but nothing about getting older is nice anymore. lol
I hope that things went well with Gary at the doctor. I will be saying a prayer for him. I will also pray that Marissa gets the job at the bank. That will be such a good job for her.
That was nice that the kids came by and picked up some food. You always cook a lot. Now you wont have to worry about a lot of left overs. That is funny that Amanda took most of the Pizzagheina. Bobby must really like that. I am surprised the way he likes cookies that there are any of them left. You really did make a good Easter dinner that is for sure.
I missed Rosanne last night. Mandy will have to pull it up on her tablet and we can watch it on there. I guess that she can get the new one. That is just the way I feel about the show. Some of it is funny and some I am not so sure of. I do not think that if I had small children that I would let them watch it. I am just no decided. Like Gail said though sometimes it takes a show a few weeks to get it together.
Angel was at the tasting table. She ate some Churro Sundae. I was surprised also she did not say anything about it on the shows until Monday. She did not say that much just that she was on there and she looked terrible when she eats.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen,
Angel was lucky to be on The Chew twice. Maybe she got on the tasting table both times because she knows Clinton from the Q. You know I don’t think any of us look that attractive while we are eating or crying so she shouldn’t worry about it. I like the way Michael cooks too but I must admit I haven’t seen The Chew much recently-I will have to get back in to watching it again.
My Mom always made split pea soup with the leftover ham and the ham bone. I miss that as I never make it since Greg doesn’t like it. It’s not a soup that you find out at a restaurant much either. Sometimes I get a taste for it and buy a can and eat it myself for lunch or something.
Yikes! I hope Brook’s cold gets better. Tea with some lemon is what she needs or maybe tea with honey and lemon. Tell her we said to “break a leg.” You’ll have to tell us all about it after you go to see her. It will be fun, I’m sure.

      Hi Adele,
I hope the trees get out without causing any further damage. That will be one less thing on your mind.
I know what you feel about the stress. Somehow we women take on the responsibility for everyone else’s happiness. It really should not be our job but somehow we evolve into it without even seeing it happen and then we become stressed out. sometimes we just have to force ourselves to step back for a moment and say ‘what will be will be.” It’s impossible to control everything but so so hard not to try to do it anyway.
How was Gary’s doctor visit? Good I hope. I was thinking maybe it would be easier on you if you just gave him a pass for holiday meals-maybe then you could relax and enjoy yourself and he can just eat whatever he wants for that one day. Then at least you wouldn’t be mad at him afterwards because you know gong in he’s probably not going to eat what you want him to anyway.
Yes, the sink scene on Roseanne Hmmmm. It was kind of like waterboarding-but by the same token it was probably something we’ve all wanted to do to our kids at one time or another but held ourselves back from doing. Roseanne was always one of those mothers who said some stuff to her kids we all kind of wished we could say sometimes but held ourselves back because we knew better. I think that was part of her draw. I just get the feeling she is not comfortable in this new ” role” yet. The one who plays Darlene though is really doing a good job I think. So far John Goodman is just sort of a punchline. I just get the feeling that no one is comfortable yet and that makes me feel uncomfortable watching. Now i can watch an old rerun and just slip right in without these feelings so I’m hoping that they are just working the kinks out. Time will tell although they have already been renewed for next year.
Now onto my favorite of last night. The Goldberg’s! When she made him that meat pie just how he likes it with just meat and crust without the peas and carrots it was like Gary was acting on that TV program I actually saw his face instead of the actors! Oh how I laughed-which I needed. And i loved how there was just knishes at the snack bar at the retirement community pool. Oh my goodness-my Mom moved to Florida after my Dad died and i could just picture her condo community in that show. lol
Who knows your grands may be making a TV show about you and Gary some day. Any aspiring filmmakers in the family? Maybe JJ?

Well girls I had no power yesterday afternoon. There were 12K affected in my county. It was due to the strong winds & the workers could not work on it in winds over 40 mph to dangerous. So without electric you can’t do much of anything & it was cold as the furnace needs electric for the blower to work. It is very cold here 20’s at night and 30’s during the day. I think tomorrow is to be a bit warmer but they are calling for snow & snow on Sat and next week. Whoever is praying for snow stop it. I have had enough and am ready for warm weather & flowers.

      Sue,
It’s not me. I want spring! it does get cold without that furnace. We are like you and have February temperatures right now.
We may or may not get more snow this afternoon and sometime next week.
I hope the winds die down and the electric stays on.

      Hi Colleen
‘Well, we got a call the trees were being removed today, so no cooking today as i ahve no idea what will happen. They were supposed to be here between 11 and 12, and nobody is here yet. So, I am glad I did not take the chicken out of the freezer. I can always do it tomorrow.
I am so glad the kids took a lot of food, as it is such a shame for it to be thrown away. Still have a good amount of ham left, and I am going to google quiches with ham today. After the trees are gone….I hope…..I could do a quiche. I saved some of the crust I made from the baking, to do one.
I do feel like pulling my hair out…….maybe I am doing it in my sleep. It is weird. Have you noticed your eyebrows are disappearing too? I have no hair on my legs, either. very weird.
I didn’t see Angel on the Chew. Sometimes I am listening to it, and not watching as I do something else.
Gary’s visit went well- the doctor is pleased with him. he lost another 3 lbs. I probably gained 6. his EKG was good too.
I am sitting here waiting for the tree guys……
Hope your day is better than mine.

      Hey Gailster
You are spot on on the Roseann show. Very well said.
Oh yes, the Goldberg’s. If Gary had not fallen asleep, he would have added that it was a great pot pie, for sure. I was dying! I think JJ has a lot of material for either a book, or a show. We may be making him rich some day….LOL
You know, that is a good idea for holidays, and woudl save me a lot of crazy. I am goign to institute that new Gail Holiday Rule.
Speaking of JJ….I have not heard if he knows what part he will be playing. Have to call Steph, as she did no call last night after practice.
Gary did well at the doctor- no issues with the heart so far. I love good news.
The trees are still here, and I am dressed on my Quacker finery to celebrate their leaving. Hope I am not dressed for nothing. Gary is afraid they will not come, due to the wind out there.
I have my Patriotic Annalee dolls out….LOL Waiting for Patriot’s Day, and warmer weather. It is freezing out there today, and snow for tonight, but, not much. I hope we get nothing, as the fabulous repair man who did the deck, is coming to fix the fence and retaining wall. Of course, the trees ahve to be gone for that to happen.
Can you list the ingredients for the ham and pea soup? I think I have enough left for that too.
Hope your day is bright and sunny.

we got the winds last night. My friend Nancy had the cellar window blow out during one of the huge gusts.
I am glad you have your electric back!
Gary thinks that is why I am still waiting for the tree guys, the wind. I am still hoping they will come, as it seems to have lessened quite a bit.
We are getting snow tonight, either a trace, or 3 inches. Yuck.
Hope you do not get the snow on Saturday,

Unfortunately I never made the split pea soup, my Mom did, and it’s one of those things I never learned how to make from her and I’m sure she just “winged” it with nothing written down. Sorry. It was good though. wish i had learned how to make it from her.

      Hey Gailster!
Well the tree saga continues. They were supposed to be here between 11 and 12. At 1, a wood chipper company was across the street at my neighbors, and took a tree out of her back yard. So at 2, i called my landscaper, who thought they were done here. i say, no, but there was a truck at Peg’s house. He gets angry, (not at me) and says he will be right over, and they will be right back.
So, the birch is gone, and the pine is half gone. They ask if they can finish tomorrow, and I say as long as they are out of here by 10:30, when the fence repair man is here. LOL
This is my life. Always crazy.
The side of the house looks so empty.

      Hi Ladies,
Weird things are happening out here with my computer. First of all when I tried to get on the internet this morning nothing happened. Usually that means they’ve shut me off cable or phone when I don’t pay on time. But I wasn’t overdue. I end up calling Comcast & come to find out it was them that was having issues. Not sure what was going on but the recording said the crews were working to get it back on. I asked for a call back when it was fixed & they did. so when I came on here I had to sign in all over again from the beginning. Good ole Comcast/Xfinity!!!! Sooooo maddening!!!
Adele, I hope you got the trees taken out today, with no more damage. Good to hear Gary’s doing well. He should be proud of himself for losing weight, no matter how much. Whew, for just a second I thought I lost this post.
I haven’t heard anything from the cardio rehab yet. I called the Dr. office & they’re supposed to call the rehab place & they’ll call me.
I’m leaving my decorations up till I see signs of spring!!!! I’m willing it to show up!! Like you guys we’re in for a nasty weekend, into next week!! I was going to have Jewell groomed next week, but if it’s gonna be as cold as it sounds, I’ll postpone it till later. I don’t want her shaved off till it gets warmer.
Have any of you ever bought a Harry Slatkin candles? He has a TSV today & they look so realistic.
      That’s all for now.
      Take care & stay warm.

      Hi DD
      Love the teacup kitten.
I have never bought one of those candles. Maybe one of the girls have, and they can let you know what they think.
The trees are not done. They have to come back and finish the big pine tree. They’ll be here at 8 or so tomorrow. Then at 10:30, the fence repair man comes. He is the one who repaired my deck last summer, and he is very good, and reasonable.
We have Comcast/Xfinity too. I was always having issues with the security cameras, but, then they replaced two, and the screen, and so far, all has been ok.
It is cold here, but, the wind finally died down. There is snow reported for tomorrow, in the afternoon. They feel it may change to rain, as it will get into the 40’s. Still very chilly for April. I would wait on having Jewell trimmed too, as it is too cold. You are such a good Kitty Mummy.
      Hope your night is good.

      Hi Gail,
I wonder what is happening with Mario. It is a shame that he messed his life up like he did. I wonder what his boys think about all of this. They all seemed to be so close.
Did you hear that Trading Spaces is coming back on? They had Page on the Chew today and she was really excited about it. She said that the all of the old cast is coming back but they will have a few new designers. Clinton Kelly is going to be one of them. He does one show and he said that it is a lot of work. They really do make them stick to a budget and get things done. It will be interesting to see if they are as popular as they use to be. I like to see the weird designs that they come up with.
I think that you either really like split soup or you hate it. Kylie and I both really liked it but the others did not. Brook would not eat it because of the ham. I do not make it very often though. It makes a lot and I am the only one that eats it. My girls do not like it either.
Brook has been drinking tea with honey and lemon and taking cough medicine. We are hoping to get her well soon. That poor kid she has to do a lot of yelling in this play.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
We used the rest of the ham in our ham and beans and split pea soup. Split pea soup is not hard to make. You just get the dried split peas and you put them in about six cups of boiling water. I put onions in my soup also. Then I just put the ham in and let it cook in for while and then let it simmer until the peas get tender and eat. It does get a little thick so if you do not like it that way then just add a little water. The only spices that I use is salt and pepper but you could add others if you wanted to. Sometimes if I have carrots I will grate a little of that in the soup.
I am so happy for you and Gary that his doctor visit went well. He can thank you for that. You are the one doing the special diet for him and really helping him and trying to make him eat the right foods and it is paying off. You have hit a home run with Tillie and Gary. They both seem to be doing better. You sure could use a vacation. Maybe just get away and do some shopping or go some place with friends that you have not gone to for a long time. You deserve it.
That is terrible that JJ does not know what part he has. Well maybe they just have not told you yet. They should not leave you in suspense like that. He will have a good time Doing the play. He is such a cute little guy. He sounds like he is good at acting.
That is terrible that the tree guys did not finish today. They better show up in the morning and not be late. That will really mess up the fence guy. It will be so nice for you when all of that is done and you do not have to worry about it anymore. One less thing to stress over. I think that Gail is right we are the ones that stress over everything. The men go off to work or do their own thing and we are the ones that take care of things.
I did not mind not having anymore hair on my legs. That is one thing that I hated to do is shave my legs. My eye brows are the same they are really getting thin. All that hair that we had has moved up to our faces and down. It would be nice if it just moved on.
Well that is about all from here. Hope you have a good night.

      Hi DD,
I have not bought any of the Slatkin candles either. They always are so cute and the host seem to like them. Will have to try one and see if they are as good as they say.
I would wait to have Jewel get a hair cut also. This weather is so crazy that you do not know what is going to happen. How often do they come around to groom the pets there? That is nice that they do that.
I hope that you hear from the cardio place soon. If you have to do exercises you need to go there and find out what they want you to do. They never seem to be in a hurry.
That is a pain when the computer is down. What is really aggravating they always seem to go ahead and charge you for the time that they are not working. They are quick to shut things down if you are having trouble getting the bill in on time. They should figure out a fair way to do this. So you do not have to pay when they are not working. That really does aggravate me.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

I don’t know what Mario is doing. Hopefully he is doing some soul searching and trying to make amends and trying to be a better person. Personally, I am glad all these men are getting called out for their behavior. Hopefully it will make the world a better, safer place for our daughters and granddaughters.
I heard that Trading Spaces is coming back. I’m trying to decide whether i will watch. I never really saw it too much the first time around but I know Jenny used to watch and tell me about it. I will probably DVR and see what I think.

      Hi Adele,
It sure does look empty when they take out a big tree like that. I hope the tree gets out at the right time so the fence gets fixed. It will feel good to get all that done. Except I feel sad that all your birds that lived in that tree will have to find new homes. I wonder what the tree removal companies do with all that chipped wood. Sell it for mulch? If so the tree owners should get a share.
I hope JJ gets a part. I already forgot what the play is. duh!
I’m glad Gary’s doctor’s visit was good. You should get the credit for that.

      Hi colleen
Well, JJ has his part. he is Noodle- a pirate. He was a little upset he did not get a lead, but, he NEVER says he wants one. He really needs to say he wants to be the male lead, so they will consider, and possibly, give him that part. I will tell him he will be fabulous, no matter what he is.
The tree guys came at 8am, and got Gary out of bed….LOL They were only here for an hour. Seriously? They really could have finished yesterday, as they left around 3:30, I think.
Alan, our fence repair person is here. he had to go to Home Depot for some supplies.
Thanks for the pea soup recipe. It sounds simple enough. I just need the peas.
You are right- we are the worriers, and the fixers. We do get tired every once in a while.
So, Alan just called- his truck just broke down. He will get it to the dealer, and call us form there, so the repairs may be a little stalled for today. This tree mess has become a non ending headache. Nothing you can do. Still glad nobody got hurt, and no property wad damaged.
Hope your day is going well, and more productive than mine….LOL

Well, read my post to Colleen for the fence up-date.
It is now snowing, so I am betting Alan will not be able to do any more work, when they fix his truck today. It is what it is, as they say.
the play is Peter Pan, and JJ is Noodle, a pirate. JJ really needs to say that he wants a lead part, as he was a little disappointed he is not Captain Hook.
I already miss the tree. I bet the birds do too. the cardinal loved that tree.
Hope your day is going well…..

Hello to everyone. Thankfully, we are doing better. This has been a rough couple of weeks. Jerry hurt his back. I don’t know how for sure; because you can never tell if what he is telling me is the way something happened or if he is leaving something out. But I honestly think since I was in the room with him and he was lying right next to me and woke me up and said Barbara I don’t know what I have done to myself but I am hurting so bad that I can’t stand it. Help me. He was writhing in pain. I was just panicing he scared me so badly. I haven’t seen him in that kind of pain in years. I quickly gave him his pain medicine and managed to slide a heating pad under him with a lot of difficulty since he was moving over and over so much. I kept saying that I was calling for an ambulance, and he said do it do it; and that really scared me more. I couldn’t get him to listen to me. God must have known to send Joey just at that minute; he had just gotten off work and stopped by just to see if we had some extra ketchup in the pantry since he forgot to stop by the store on his way home from work. He started working with Jerry, and told me Mama sit down and let me see what we need to do, and he got Jerry in a position that with his pain medicine and the way he had him propped up was easing his pain. THen Jerry was saying don’t call don;t call, and Joey said for me to give it just a little while and see, and he would get us an ambulance if we need to go. So he spent a couple of hours with us, and Jerry was completely settled down before he left. He had to work that night too. He said he would leave his phone right by his bed if we needed him. Long story short, Jerry went to our doctor the next day, and he gave him some muscle relaxers and they helped him but just knocked him out so he slept a LOT for several days, but in all honesty he needed the rest and SO did I. THe doctor could not give us any explanation as to why this happened except to say that the sacral area of his back which they never fused; he thinks the nerves around there “made contact” with each other or bones and caused all the pain. He talked to Jerry about putting some kind of pain pump in there but Jerry said absolutely not; since they can’t say if it would help or not. So this has been our life. I surely hope you all are doing good, and that Ms. Tillie is doing better. It sounded like she might need some kind of cortisone cream for the scalyness, if she has that on her.
We have had storms, and now it is in the 30’s again. I don’t know what in the world our weather is doing, and it seems from what I see on the TV that you all are having strange weather too. Hope Spring really will come soon. We got in the 70’s and then it dropped thirty degrees and we got all the storms, and this just keeps happening.
My prayers are for everyone to be doing good. If anyone is ready to go scream into a pillow; I will join you. I actually had to leave one day and just stay gone for about 3 hours. I sat in the parking lot of Walmart for a solid hour just watching people. I thought if I didn’t get out of the house and away from the madness I would have a nervous breakdown. I am not sure who made up the word retire; I think it should have been betired. Will write more later. Take care, hugs, Barbara

      Hi Barbara,
That would have been really scary to hear Jerry in that much pain. God must have sent Joey to your house to help to take care of Jerry. It was good that he told you to just sit down and let him take care of it. You are so lucky to have him so close to you. We have been praying for Jerry since we heard about him being in so much pain. It was nice that he got into see the doctor right away. That is good that the muscle relaxers worked and Jerry is doing a little better. It is so easy to pull your back. He could have turned wrong in be and caused him pain.
It is good to go scream in your pillow. Sure does relieve stress. Sometime just going out side and yelling helps too. No one around here would hear or really care.
That is good that you got away for a few hours. Sometimes that is all that you can do. If you just sit around the house you will get so depressed. It will be nice when it gets warm and you can go sit in the park. That is always such a calming place. Go to one where they have a water fall and just sit and watch it. That is always a good thing to watch.
Well that is about all from here. We will be praying for Jerry and you. Just take care of yourself.

      Hi Gail,
We watched some of the old Trading spaces tonight and they were kind of good. They one house that the people were not really that happy with the room that they did. The couple that did it asked her not to be upset with them and she told them that she knew that it was not their design. Then they had another one on that they did the room like a circus tent. That one was weird also. Those people said that they liked it but I am to sure that they did.
Brook sounded better today so she did okay tonight in the play. We are going tomorrow night to see her. We are dividing the days so she will have someone there for every performance. They use to have it for three days but cut that back to two. I guess that made it easier on the kids.
It does not seem like we should be thinking about Memorial day already. As cold as it it it seems like it should be Christmas. Do you think that we will ever have spring this year?
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
That is so cool that JJ is going to be a pirate. He will have fun with that part. It is a shame that he did not get to be captain hook but maybe the next play he will get the lead. Every part is an important and if he was not there to be that person it would not be as good.
That would be so aggravating that the guys just stayed for an hour. They should have finished yesterday and got it over with. At least the fence guy showed up and attempted to fix the fence. That is rough when you have car or truck trouble. I hope that he got it fixed and could come over and fix the fence and get that done.
That soup is really easy to fix. It makes a lot also. I hope that you like it. Hope that Gary likes it also. I am not sure if that is a heart healthy soup or not. It seems like it should be though.
It is really cold here tonight. It was nice during the day and then it started to turn cold. Everyone around us is getting snow but not us.So I give up and am not wanting any now. Maybe it I have that attitude we will get some snow. lol
Our Easter lilies are still blooming. I thought that they would be done by now but I guess this strange weather we are having do not effect them. That is good though. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the flowers do this year. I am hoping that they all come back up again.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Barbara
I am so glad you posted, as we were all concerned, and praying. A back can do a lot of bad things to us, which I, unfortunately do know.
I have done a lot of damage in my sleep, in between the first and second back surgery I had. I think you move into a position, while sleeping, and wham. You are all done. I am a very restless sleeper. Is Jerry a restless sleeper?
When it happens to me, ice is the only thing that stops the pain, as it reduces the swelling of whatever I got myself into. I have never done heat. they always say that over time, the back will usually heal itself, and stop. But, even one day in pain like that is an eternity. i am so sorry for Jerry and you, as the caretaker feels helpless.
Has Jerry ever done that during the night before? i am sure God sent joey at just the right time. Thank God you had him there, until Jerry got more comfortable. You were really lucky he got him in a better position, so he did not have to go to the ER. Everyone hates the ER, but, it is there when we need it.
All is ok here. Tillie got a cream for psoriasis- that is what the derm doctor said the rash was that is all over her body. He gave her an antibiotic cream for her bum, where she sits. he also suggested this ” air pillow for compression wounds”- found one on Amazon. She first said it was not helping, and now she uses it all the time. It will take a long time to clear up all the spots, but, they do look better.
Gary got good news from his doctor- ekg looks good, and so does his blood pressure.
If anyone takes my blood pressure, I will be on the way to the ER….LOL My dam hair is falling out in droves. I have no idea what is wrong. I hope I do not get bald, like Tillie. I don’t have her hair, I have my Dad’s curly thick hair (or, at least I did). Oh well. Worst things can happen.
You two are always in my prayers. i am so happy Jerry is getting better.
I totally get that you just sat in the car by yourself. O bet you were too tore to even go into Walmart, for some shopping therapy. You just do what will keep you sane. Take your ride, and just sit there, and have a good cry, all by yourself. then, get back and post us, we will make you laugh.
Speaking of laughing we watched The Middle last night, and there was a scene between the parents that had us in hysterics. Even Gary, the one who never laughs out loud, laughed. I hope you have a drv system, so you can see this week’s episode. It will be good for both of you! Nothing real funny has happened here, so I ahve nothing right now. That is becasue I was on strike from cooking this week. Tonight I will make oatmeal, as that’s simple enough for a Saturday night….LOL I will cook again next week……should you feel like driving up here on one of your jaunts out….Monday is chicken soup, Tuesday is meatloaf, Wednesday is left over soup, as Tillie goes for another shot in her eye, and Thursday is linguine with marinara sauce…..LOL
Hoping today is good weather, so nobody is sore down there, and that you are both free of any pain.
      Love, Adele

      Hey Colleen
we are cold too. You had to see it snowing after the repair man left. He would have had to stop, even if he was able to come back. Later the sun came out, and all the snow disappeared. Tonight into tomorrow, we are having either rain or sleet. Enough is enough, aorund here.
How is everyone at your place? Are they all healthy? there are so many colds, etc going aorund up here.
Well, the very few tulips that I have, have refused to show their heads. They are protesting the weird weather. even my neighbor across the street, who has a lot, has nothing coming up.
Did you see Blue Bloods and Hawaii 5-0 last night? We did. We also watched The Middle, whihc we had recorded. We were dying laughing. Did you see it this week? Tonight we have a couple more recorded shows to see, and then, of course, the new Hallmark movie.
I hope your weather is good, and all are ok, and had a good week.

      Hi Ladies,
We’re in for a wild weekend weather wise. There’s a big wind storm on the horizon & we’re under high wind weather advisory from the national weather service. Could get lots of rain too. It was a yr ago we had a really bad wind storm. There was a lot of damage along the coast. Time to hibernate & stay cozy. It was 70 & lovely yesterday, the calm before the storm. Also the first day we’ve seen 70 this year.

It was good to hear from you Barbara. I’m sorry to hear about Jerry’s back. I know all too well how painful back pain is. I hurt my lower back yrs ago & I have to be careful I don’t reinjure it. Muscle relaxers do knock you out so the muscles can relax. I wonder if he laid on his side with his knees bent, like in a fetal position would help ease the pain. I hope he’s feeling better. Oh, it doesn’t take much to hurt your back. my back was killing me just this week, & I have no idea what I did. I took some Tylenol & it helped.
I’ll probably start taking the Easter decorations down pretty soon. It seemed tooo early this yr.
Oh, I heard from the cardio rehab yesterday. I’ll start with an orientation, then I’ll be evaluated for exercise program, have a one on one with a nutritionist, etc. Maybe they can help me lose some weight.
      Well, that’s all for now.
      Have a good weekend.
      dd
PS: I’m sending a before & after of Jewell. She looks like two different cats. that’s why I postponed her grooming.

      Hey DD
OMG, Jewell looks so cute with her hair cut. She looks like a Siamese cat! How cute is she!
Sorry you are getting scary weather. Are you on the top floor? I hope not, in case they lose some roof tiles, so you will not get any water inside your place. Rain does more damage than snow, especially with the high winds.
What are you cooking during the storm? Not sure what we are making tomorrow. I know what I plan to do during the week, not tomorrow- how funny is that.
I am not telling Gary about the one on one with a nutritionist. No way, Jose, as they say. He would not go, for sure. you will have to let me know how you like it. I bet you will get a lot out of it. Not sure you-know-who will.
We just had oatmeal for supper. I wanted something simple, that was still good for Gary, with no salt. We had Chinese last night, and I have to make sure there is no salt today, to minimize the damage. he loves Chinese (we all do), so it gets limited to once every 2 weeks, once a week is now more rare. The place we get the food from has a choice of brown rice instead of white or fried. I like the brown, as it has more flavor than the plain white, and not fried. I do not like fried rice. I had Gary try it, and, of course, he did not like it.
Hope you have a good night. We have one more show to catch up on….Chicago Med, then we will watch the Hallmark movie.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. It is very cold here today; nothing like what I know you all are enduring; but we just don’t know what to think about our weather anymore either. I just can’t imagine what you all must be feeling like by now. So I hope you all are seeing some relief very soon. I am so proud of all the stars in our young ones in the family. Actors and actresses no less. Tell JJ there is no such thing as a small part. They call Peter Pan the main role since the play and all the other actors have the important role of helping his character by holding the story together. One actor can’t do it all my themselves. But now that I;m thinking, our little Aliza or Piper might be able too ha ha. Speaking of talking; our itty bitty is in Las Vegas visiting our oldest son and his wife. He counts one, two, three and then throws a ball to Neal. Buddy had gotten the baby a little swimming pool with a little lawn chair his size that is sitting in the pool. So I know he had been “swimming” while they all sat there with him and visited. I am so glad than Neal and Buddy are getting this chance to spend some time together.
DD, your little kitty looks so cute. Does Jewell have to have an extra blanket when she gets a haircut? I know that our kitty is so cold natured, and will actually crawl up under our covers all by himself when he gets chilly. He has been staying right in front of the heater these last few days since our weather has turned so cold. I heard that you are getting some hard winds. Our son was saying they are getting a lot of rain in the Sacramento area too, and they are talking about mud slides now. Something about a storm coming in from Hawaii I believe. Is that what is affecting your weather too?
Jerrys back is doing some better. I know he is still hurting, but he scared me. It makes it so hard when the doctor can’t give you any answers; just speculation. It is so hard to hear them say “well, Mr. Smith, you know this is only going to get worse as time goes by, and the arthritis will hurt worse when the weather changes, or you stay in the same spot or blah, blah” I know they mean well, but you just want to have someone say, this is what has to be done to fix this. But, after the other day, I am just so grateful for him doing better. Guess I just want a miracle. I pray for one. So glad that Gary is doing good Adele. And you too DD. You all are definite living proof of medical miracles. Thank God. And I am proud of both of you for your rehab work. You work so hard with them, DD and poor Adele works so hard to help our Gary.
You are right, Colleen, no one would hear me if I went outdoors here and let out a whoop. I might get the old hound dog to howl right along with me. I lie awake at night sometimes and listen to an owl making his hooting from far off in the woods. One has been doing that since our boys were little. They used to go out and talk to him at night. Sweet memories.
Adele, I will start watching the show The Middle. I hadn’t heard of it until you ladies started talking about it. Jerry and I love a good comedy. He watches a lot of action movies like say Jason Bourne. I know that is not the name but it is all I can think of. But is does make you feel better to laugh. One day I was just reading us some jokes from the Readers Digest. He and I were both just laughing. Take care everyone. Thank you again for all your prayers. It means so much to me. Will continue praying for you all and your loved ones too. It comforts me more than you know, love Barbara

      Hi Ladies,
Yeah , I’m on the top floor, but they don’t have shingles up on the roof. I think they have tar up there. The bldg. is solid concrete, I feel safe & secure. I think they’re afraid of mudslides in the Gorge where the fire was. Trees will be uprooted all over, as well as power outages around the area. I’ve been verrrry lucky so far.
Yes Jewell gets a blanket when she gets her hair cut unless it’s June or July. She’s not spoiled or anything!!! LOL
Say, I’ve been meaning to ask if any of you play games on your devices? I found mahjong awhile back & it’s fun for passing time. I realize all of you have families, but I find it relaxing.
Did you hear the storm washed up a body along the Ca. coast where that van went over. I wonder if it’ll wash up the others.
      Well that’s all for tonight.

      Hi Barbara
Glad you could post again. i was watching ITKWD. he is not on today, and the show just is not the same without him. So, I got the hand held little vacuums that are cordless for me, Steph and Heather for Mothers Day. It takes us very little space, and the filter can be washed in the dishwasher. I think it is a great addition to any kitchen. Could have used it yesterday. i spilled sugar twice, and then Bobby spilled bread crumbs….LOL

I tell JJ I am thrilled if he even holds a curtain on the sidelines, as nobody could hold a curtain better than he would. I think he is on to me. He knows there is nothing he could do that would not get praise as if he gave the Presidential Address on Inauguration day….LOL

So, today I ordered my Mothers Day gifts. I needed something for that dam stump left by the birch tree. It looks so empty out there. I fond an Angel on Ebay that was 15 inches tall- just right for a stump I would say. I also got a set of 4 wood bird houses, as mine are getting very raggedy, and nobody has cleaned them out in years….nobody wants to clean them. two feel down over the winter, and are in worst shape. So, the little birdies will have 4 new homes. I have to say, the price I paid for all 4, was about the price I pay for one from this cool nursery I go to when I need a birdhouse. it was about 50.00, for all 4. The ones at the nursery are touted as “handmade by local artisans”. Hate to say it, they look exactly the same. how funny is that?

That is so wonderful that your Itty Bitty counts, and has been swimming. It is so good that the brothers got to spend some time together, and they both got to enjoy Colin. That must have made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Did they face time you while they were together? I hope they did. At least send you some pics, I hope?? I sometimes look at the pics on the laptop or my phone when I miss the boys, and they are only 5 minutes away. Since Jj s getting older, and having more of a schedule, they do not come as much as they used to. I see them sometimes every week, and sodomites less than that. Now….if Miss Steph just got her license…..a sore topic over here. We see JJ every Wednesday night, unless Heather takes him to his practice. Heather took him this week, as Gary had his doctor appointment an hour before practice.

Speaking of Mr Gary. he is thrilled today. Bobby is making chicken cutlets. His favorite. We may try to do spinach sauted with olive oil and garlic. Any bets on Gary eating any? LOL that would not disguise the spinach enough for his eyes.

So happy Jerry is a little better. that was scary. Are they talking about a spine fusion? I had 2 already, and pray that is my last. They did help a lot. Now, i only get into trouble when I do something I should not have done. I honestly do not remember what I di this past holiday season that put meon the prednisone. Isn’t that funny, that I do not remember what I did? My brain is protecting me.

Hope you are having a good day. Sun is shining up here, with some snow later tonight, or early tomorrow. Nothing major. It will get warmer at the end of this week…yahoo!!

      Hi Dd
I love Jewell’s blanket. Very pretty. does she hide when you have a storm? My kitty’s did.
That is good that the roof is tar and not shingles. Heather is on the top floor of their apartment building, and she gets a lot of noise when there is a lot of wind. she is on the 3rd floor, and the trees create some spooky noises. She hates it when there is a lot of wind at night.
did you watch the Hallmark movie last night? they are all so nice to watch. We all know how they will end- happy.
I do not know how to play mahjong. My SIL plays it, and does in on line too. I used to lay solitaire. I may have deleted my games by mistake, as one day I was looking for the card games, and could not find them.
I hope the sun is shining at your place. that’s awful that a body washed up with the storm. That whole situation was disgusting. Can you imagine how those poor kids felt as they went over? It makes me sick to my stomach. People do such awful things to each other. just awful.
Hope your day is sparkly….did you watch ITKWD?

      Hi Adele,
I’m on the 12th floor so I’m waaay above the trees. I do hear the wind howling around the bldg. from time to time. No Jewell doesn’t hide during storms. We don’t get the awful storms you guys do. We got lots of rain yesterday, over an inch in most places. But luckily the storm blew thru overnight. It was cloudy all day today, but the sun did manage to pop out late in the day. It’s supposed to be 70 degrees on Monday, then it’s back to rain the rest of the week. Most likely showers.
Mahjong isn’t that hard to learn. All you have to do is Google it, it’ll take you to several sites of games. I go to 247 & it has several different games. All you do is click on matching tiles, till you eliminate all of the tiles. If I can learn it, anybody can. It isn’t all that hard.
I heard they authorities in Ca. will search again weather pending. My opinion is if you’re gonna commit suicide, fine, have at it. Just leave kids OUT of it!!!!Leave them some where safe & do what you’re gonna do.
I did watch ITKWD, with Mary. I missed some of it. I love the new dinnerware set by BlueJean chef. Beautiful colors!! Esp love the yellow. I was so disappointed when Tara discontinued her yellow bakeware, etc.
Did you hear David will be back Wed. with a 3 hr show, & next Sun. for a 5 hr show!!! As David would say, Buckle up kids it’s gonna be a wild ride. I love him & MCM together. Talk about a natural comedy team.
I guess I’ll be taking down my Easter décor this week. Last week just didn’t seem like Easter to me. This weekend seemed more like it for some reason.
There’s a QF 2 hr show tomorrow, Mon, at 10 AM your time. Enjoy.
Well, I guess that’s all my news for tonight.
      Have a great week

      Hi Adele,
We went to the play last night and it was really good. All of the kids did a good job. There was only one person that forgot her lines and they smoothed that over. We gave Brook flowers and so did a few other people. Two of whom were boys. She did tell me who they were but I forgot now. They are not boys that she really likes though she said. The one boy that gave her flowers also gave her an armadillo awhile back. I thought it was a weird thing to give a girl that you like but maybe that was all that he could find. She thinks that he is weird.
Well we had some snow today. It was supposed to stick and we were going to get one inch. Well we did not get near that much and it did not stick. It was melting as soon as it hit the ground. We watched it snow for a little while and then just quit. I was so disappointed that it did not stick to the ground.I was going to take a picture of it but nothing works out the way we want it to. lol
I did watch Blue Bloods last night. That mayor was really a strange lady. I guess that she will be leaving the show soon. I thought that partner of that young brother was going to die. It was a strange thing to happen. What weird thing that kid did to get into a gang. He killed that cop just to get into a gang. Well he did not get into the gang he got to go to jail. I did not see Hawaii 5-O. We very seldom watch that one. Ron watches a lot of news shows and stuff that no one else wants to watch. lol
Not much going on here today. Mandy had to work and we just kind of vegged out. It was cold and we were all kind of tired from last night. Even the girls slept in late this morning. I know that Brook had to be tired, They had practice after school until 9pm every day last week. She will not know what to do with herself after school now. She really wants to look for a job. Hope that she gets one.
Now it is JJ’s turn to get ready for his play. Barbara is right there are not bad parts in a play. Everyone is important. If they did not do their part the play would not be the same.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Barbara,
That is great that Jerry’s back is doing better. I know that it has to be a relief to you also. Doctors do not think before they speak. They should be looking for away to keep this from happening and not just saying that it how it is and there is nothing they can do. Jerry just needs to fool them all and not have anymore trouble with his back. Muscles relaxers are really good to have a round though. I am a little confused. If he gave him a muscle relaxer it must have been a muscle that gave him the trouble and not the back problem. So if he gets the muscle relaxers when this happens would that not take care of it? If it was from the surgery that he had you would think that he would have given him a different pain pill to take care of it. Maybe I just do not understand the injury to his back.
How cute that Colin is starting to count. It was nice that he went to see his Neal went to see his brother. I bet Colin had a ball in that pool. What a cute gift to give him. Did Sarah go with them or did they go alone? She came back home to see her mom without Neal so thought maybe he went to visit his brother without her. Just wondering. It was nice that he skyped you from there and you go to see Colin again.
It is fun to listen to the birds at night. We have a mocking bird that comes out in the night during the summer and hollers all night. As loud as they are they are really small birds. They must have a great set of lungs. We have owls around here once in awhile but not one that has moved in. It would be nice if they did they get rid of all the mice. We get turkey buzzards around here once in awhile. They sometimes chase out guineas and Ron goes out and shoots a gun up in the air and they fly off. They have not been around in awhile and we are hoping that they do not come around again. Those things are nasty looking and acting.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
Jewel looks so cute. I like her new blanket also. She looks so different with her short hair. She is such a pretty cat.
I hope that the storms are all over with and that there was no damage to your building. I would not want to live on the 12th floor. That is really high up there. That is good that you do not hear a lot of wind from the storms. That would be scary in itself when it gets real windy. You are lucky that you do not get the storms that we get around here. That would be really scary.
I like to play Mahjong. I have not played in along time though. We use to have it on our other computer but when the thing fried I lost all of that and also lost the disk to load it with. It is a fun game and keeps your brain working. The one game that I played some of the tiles looked a lot alike. I have a tablet that I play games on now and it does not have the games that I use to have. We lost the disk that we copied the games off of to load on this computer.
That is a shame that they now have to worry about mud slides in that gorge. That will wipe out a lot of trees and that will not be good. They lost enough in the fire. We need all the trees and I hate to see them pulled up out of the ground in a mud slide. There is not much that can be done though. The mud slides are really dangerous.
That is just so sad that happened in CA. I cannot understand why anyone would want to kill their children when they want to commit suicide. Didn’t one of the kids survive? I think that I heard that or maybe that was a different accident. What is this world coming to?
Thanks for posting all the cheerful pictures. We need to see cheerful right now with all that is happening.

      Hello Everyone,
Woke up this morning to snow on the ground again! I imagine it will melt off soon-I hope.
DD, you find the prettiest pictures of butterflies and flowers and kitties! They always make me smile.
Jewell is so pretty and so different before and after the haircut. I have forgotten what type of cat she is. Can you refresh my memory? When Rocky got older he had trouble regulating his body temperature right after a haircut and I would have to cover him sometimes as he would not wear his sweater. It’s funny-when I would put his sweater on he would stand there and just not even move. I thought he wouldn’t mind at all because he was so easy going and laid back. Now Belle who was kind of hyper and jumpy I thought would never tolerate the sweater and she loved it. Go figure. She would wear the sweater for days in the house and out if it was really cold out. I play games on my tablet all the time. Probably waste more time doing that than I actually should but it is relaxing and just allows me to sort of veg out and clear my mind which I need sometimes more than others.
Barbara, Joey was like an angel arriving in the nick of time to help you and Jerry. I’m so glad that he is feeling better and will pray that someone will discover something in the future that will ease his pain. It’s so hard to be dismissed with the words this is how it is and there’s nothing that we can do. It really makes you feel like the medical field has abandoned you and only want to work with something that can be easily fixed.
I know what you mean by having to get away before you break yourself. I’ll bet we have all felt that at one time or another. That’s when it helps to think of that little Colin. I can just picture him sitting on his little chair in the pool with his sunglasses on! lol What a cute picture that makes in my mind. That thought should make you smile.
Colleen, I’m glad that you finally got a little snow. Now just make it all go away!
So glad that Brook did well in the play. Hmmmm! An armadillo from an admirer. Now that is a unique gift! lol
Those turkey buzzards are pretty ugly looking and kind of weird too. Definitely not a cute little birdy or a majestic eagle.
I copied the new Trading Spaces but have not watched it yet.
Unfortunately this is the last season of The Middle so it will be ending this spring. However, I know you have Dish so they have been showing reruns during the week on Freeform or Family (or whatever it’s called) channel 180 from 1:30 or 2 until either 4 or 5.I put them on all the time.
Adele, I think Noodle the pirate sounds like an excellent part. I like the name. I’m just curious since the part of Peter Pan is traditionally played by a woman does a girl play it in a children’s production? You are right-next time he wants to try out for a certain part he has to tell them that going into the audition. Anyway, I know he will be the best pirate of the whole group. Johnny Depp will have a run for his money! lol
I must be losing my mind as I know i watched The Middle last week but i can’t remember what it was about for the life of me. Can you refresh me? Of course Greg loves The Goldberg’s and I like after the show when they show pictures of the real people that the stories are based on. I must say Superstore has also moved toward the top of my list as i can just picture those characters working at my local Walmart. lol Greg doesn’t like that Glenn is such a dumb boss ( maybe that’s a real bosses reaction to being portrayed as dumb- someone’s being too sensitive and taking things too personal) lol Plus I think the chemistry between Amy and Jonah is so good.
I would love to send a bug in with Gary when he talks to the nutritionist-that conversation would be worth hearing. I’m sure all those people have heard every story and every excuse in the book.
The other week on TV I saw a new thing that they are experimenting with now where they freeze the vagus nerve so that you don’t feel hungry so you don’t eat as much. If that ever became generally accepted as a weight loss thing I think I would consider it as it is more like teaching yourself a new way to eat and it is not as drastic as surgery. It’s just starting out though but I thought it was an interesting concept.
Yesterday Greg and I went over to the Casino and actually came away with a little more money than we went in with. That is always a good day! Then we stopped off for dinner on the way home and still had money left over after paying for dinner. so it was a pretty good day. Now if only it will stop being in the 20’s at night-it gets so chilly it’s hard to believe we are still wearing winter clothes and coats. I’m ready for sandals!

      Hi DD
I just read your post, so I missed the Quacker show this morning. So did Tillie. But, I saw this fabulous old style Quacker Factory vest on Ebay, new with tags, and I got it- delivered today. It has all over sequins, with a ghost, pumpkin, cat and a few stars on it. I have a couple of those beautiful vests I got before- one is snowmen, and one is Patriotic, and a fall/Halloween one. But,this one is so pretty i could not resist another Halloween one….LOL
Ebay has a lot of the old Quacker style that have the beautiful sequin work, that they just do not make anymore. I really wish they would have a few pieces of the older, more detailed styles.
No wonder you have such a gorgeous view from your place. That is pretty high up there.
Speaking of trees, i researched fast growing smaller trees, and found a {ink Dogwood that woudl work very well where the birch was. It will not go over in a storm, as it will never get that tall. In the Spring it gets beautiful pink flowers, and in the Fall, bright red leaves. that is the one I want for the side of the house. I spoke to the nursery, and got their opinion on growth, and hardiness, so I think i am good….LOL
I have chicken soup on the stove, and making the escarole separately to add later, so it will not make the broth sour. It is cold here today. But,it is sunny.
Hope your day is goign well. Have you seen that new show about the humans showing up on the sea shore from years ahead of us? kind of time travelers? I liked it.

      Hi colleen
Please tell Brook we are all so proud of her for her acting, and wonderful talent. I can hear how much fun you had from your post. Seeing them in their plays is such a treat for us. We are blessed.
So, now JJ is doing an science experiment for school next month. he wants to get dwarf sunflowers, and have them grow in different ways…one with sun, one not, one with fertilizer, one not, ect. I hope he can find what he wants at Home Depot,a s the nurseries do not have a lot of stock yet. Too cold up here.
Tillie goes for a shot in her eye Wednesday- same day Gary goes for the cardio rehab. One is early and one later in the afternoon. So Wednesday will be a busy day. I think Steph will be visiting some day this week too.
I do not like the Mayor in Blue Bloods. I will be glad if they replace her. I liked the old Mayor a lot better.
Did you watch that new show last week, where the people time traveled to this time? I liked it. I think it is on tonight again.
Read my post to DD for the rest of the info of the day….LOL Too lazy to type it all again.
Too bad you did not get to enjoy some snow. I will be thrilled if we don’t have any more up here. I want the new bird houses I ordered to get here, so I can get them up before the birds make their nests. I hope I will not be too late.
Hope your day is goign well…cold here too, but, sunny.

      Hey Gailster
read my posts to the girls for all the up-dates.
I love all those shows. I love comedies.
On the Middle, Sue decided to give the globe back to the neighborhood kid she loves ( and he loves her). She went through this big thing, where she and her friend were practicing her being more mature, becasue she saw him with a very mature blond on school grounds. Well, she gets there, and he is all excited saying he is goign to Africa for a few months, suggested by his married friend (the mature blond) whose husband went there and it made him a better doctor. So, she (again) did not give him the water globe.
Then, brick and his girlfriend broke up, and she confronted the Dad as he supported Brick in doing what he felt he needed to do. She also laid not him for being an old married man who never even kisses his wife, and has no idea how the young and in love kids feel. Brick went back with the girlfriend, and then the Dad sneaked up on Frankie to kiss her, and she belted him….LOL So, she tells him he used to give her some hint of “expectations of the love kind”, and then she would “go and shave things”. So the last scene, Frankie comes in the house, and there are candles and flowers. She books it into the kitchen saying,”ill be right there”, and proceeds to shave her legs in the kitchen sink. Gary and I nearly bust a gut laughing. Which led to a talk about “the good old days” when we were young and smitten with each other….LOL
I love the boss in Superstore. he tries so hard to be good to everyone, and is so naive. I love all the characters on that show. They are hysterical. remember the one a while ago, when all the girls int he store went out drinking? It was priceless.
Hope your day is going well, and you two have not gambled away the retirement savings….LOL
I can’t even think of sandals without shivering up here!

      Hi Adele,
I do love those ornamental trees that have the beautiful blooms in the spring and then the colorful leaves in the fall. They do not seem to get too big. We have some I think they might be Japanese maples that are very pretty and smaller type trees. You should have a lot to chose from. Are you going to plant a new pine tree too?
Thanks for reminding me-my mind was literally a blank when i tried to remember the show. I do remember laughing out loud when she went to shave her legs in the sink. I really think that show has been underappreciated all these years. i will miss it. What do you think of the new sitcoms that they are trying out? I liked the one with Zach Braff, the ones with the guys at the gym and the little kid I’m not sure about-the young boy kid is great but the stories about the gym don’t do much for me. AP Bio is kind of quirky and i think it might grow on me. The one about the split up couple living together-the jury is still out for me. So that’s my early assessment for what it’s worth.
I sure hope that Sue and Sean end up together at the end of The Middle. She tries so hard!
I did see the Superstore where the girls went out and then they stole the riding carts and all went over to Jonah’s. And then they were trying to get away and the batteries ran out. lol Isn’t it weird that Dina is being a surrogate for Glen and his wife. lol She seems like such an unlikely candidate which of course is what makes it funny.
I do miss the sitcoms in the summer when everyone is on hiatus. I finally decided last week that i was never going to go back a year and a half and catch up on all my DVR’d Blacklists so i deleted them and I guess i will just drop the show. I still love James Spader though.
So Greg is leaving straight from work today to drive up to Madison Wisconsin for a visitation so he comes down in a suit this morning. He’s standing in the kitchen with his hands in his pockets flapping the pants around saying that the suit fits funny. So I look at him and I go is your fly opened? No wonder the pants don’t fit right and sure enough it was. I go maybe check before you walk into the funeral home to make sure your pants are zipped. I swear that man would forget or misplace his head if it wasn’t attached. The funeral is for the mother of the guy that he training to be able to run the business. I would go with just to keep him company but he is leaving right from work and he can jump right on the interstate from there whereas if he came home to pick me up he has to go way out of his way and it would take more time so he decided to go by himself.
Well at least the snow from yesterday has melted and the sun is shining today but it still is dropping into the twenties at night. Chilly!

      Hey Gailster
A lot of the decorative trees will not live up here. I loved the Royal Empress tree- no go in New England. I am not considering a pine anymore, as they are the ones that tend to go over in a storm. I had planted 3, and all 3 are still standing. the one that went, was already here when we bought the house. the birch was here too, but a lot smaller, of course.
Gary does not think I can get a tree in behind the pool (where the pine was) because there is a huge root base left, and does not think it will work. I have a call into the landscaper to ask his opinion. I just hate the look of nothing there.
Sooooooo, I already own the vest that came yesterday. Do you believe it??? I will sell it on Ebay, I guess. that is just too funny. Found that out when I hung it in the closet. I thought they made 2 Halloween ones. I ahve the Christmas one, and the Patriotic one too- one each of those….LOL
The segments leading up to Dina being the surrogate were hysterical. I can tell you the big stores are pretty similar in what happens behind the scenes. I did a second job for years in retail to build up my social security, and help with tuition costs for my degrees. I was at Lechmere, which is very similar to the newer Best Buy. I was in customer service. It was hysterical. We were always having fun with the guys in package pick up, and security. They would pop by when it was slow, and the “office romances” were even more amusing.
The new show of the men in the gym, with that boy is funny. the boy carries the whole show. I love watching the faces he makes. I wish they had more Mindy Calin (not sure of spelling) in them, and less of the goofy Dad. I like the Uncle better in that one.
I do like the divorced couple one- that will definitely make it. The Ap Bio is funny one week, and not so funny the next week. Not sure about that one.
We watch the Blacklist, and dvr it most weeks. We catch up on those shows on Saturday afternoons, sometimes. Friday’s Gary is real tired, and we watch some on Friday afternoons too, as the weather has not been good to get out lately.
How do you feel about being alone for the wake, when Greg goes today? Did you get an alarm system yet? Any news on the theft from the police? I hope they catch the person, so all of you can feel safe again in your neighborhood.
So, Tillie says her legs fell out from under her again last night, when we were all sleeping. She was near a chair, and able to catch herself. I told her we need to get a Life Line. She is not big on the idea. She is feeling miserable that so many little things are happening to her. Being almost 92 is not such a great thing, I guess. I have such mixed feeling about her life. On the one hand, we are all lucky and happy she is still with us. On the other hand, I hate to see her miserable with her eyes, not hearing, the rash, not being able to tolerate the things she likes to eat, and now her legs giving way. I do not want to see her miserable, and uncomfortable. I also do not want to lose her. not that it is my choice. Getting very old has it’s limitations. sucks.
Hope you are having a good day, and the sun is shining. We just had some snow flurries. It is supposed to rain later.
I am making meatloaf, with spinach. I am thinking of making the spinach, and then mixing it into the meatloaf. This ought to be good….film at 11:00 as they say….LOL

      Hi Adele,
JJ is really getting into a lot of different things. That will be interesting to see how his experiment works. He picked a good flower though. Sun flowers seem to be easy to grow if you have the right environment. You will have to tell us all about it when he is done and which way the flower grew the best.
I hope that the shot goes well for Tillie this time. She does not need to have any pain with her eye. Hope things go well for Gary also. It will be nice if he listens to what they tell him to do. Maybe they will help to get him on the right track for his diet. It would be so nice if he would eat the right foods and thank you for cooking for him.
I had not seen that show. We may watch it this week or next. We watched Rosanne tonight but it was depressing I thought. We also watched the Middle and it was really funny. That dentist was so funny and really upset about his peanut brittle. With all that going on and that girl still was doing that interview was really funny. We watched some of Rise but that one was a little too much. So we watched Chicago Med and that was okay but not what we wanted to see tonight. We missed Blackish and I guess we should have watched it. It might have been the better show. Brook and I were just picking out shows that we want to watch at night. We will have to watch the Goldbergs tomorrow night I think is when it is on. I hope that we pick a good night and not a night when they have a show like the last time I watched it.
That is so nice that you will be able to put up some new bird houses. The decorative trees you want to get sound really pretty. Sounds like you have figured out a few ways to make it pretty outside when you look out and you will not miss that tree.
Well that is about all from here. You will have to give me some ideas on shows that Brook and I can watch in the evenings. I really do not know what is on anymore. Ron goes in the bedroom and watches the ball game so we have the tv to ourselves now.
      Have a great nigth.

      Hi Gail,
I thought that it was funny that he gave her an armadillo.I think that maybe someone told him that flowers are better so he gave her flowers the night of the play. Either this boy is just a little strange or boys find different things romantic. You know nothing says I love you like an Armadillo. lol
Brook and I watched Rosanne and the Middle tonight. They are both funny shows most of the time. I thought that Rosanne was a little depressing tonight. guess they cannot be funny every week. Have you ever watched Rise? That show was a little weird. Brook changed the channel it was that bad. I guess that we should have watched Blackish. I had watched the Middle a long time ago and did not realize that was the name of the show. They were scared of one of their neighbors and no one would do or say anything to them because they were so mean. Finally the mom went over there and fix things but I do not remember how it ended up. I do not think that it worked but not sure.
That would be so nice if they could freeze that vein and we would not want to eat. They will never get that okayed in our life time though. They never get those things approved in time for the ones who really want to try it. It will be nice for the younger people that need it though. The diet plan companies will not like it though. Can you imagine how much money those places make. Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and Nutra System are just three that I can think of right off the top of my head. They really make the money.
You had a good night at the casino. Not very often someone can say that they came out ahead of those places. They are a lot of fun to go to though. They do have the best restaurants in those places also.
One funny thing about Brook’s play was the groom. He was so tall and Brook is so short and she had to stand on her toes to hug him and he still had to bend over a little. It just looked so funny. I do not think that there was a boy in the play that would not have had to bend over to hug her. They had her wear these flats during the whole play. They should have let her wear a shoe with a little heal on it. It would have helped the poor guy that played the groom.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I actually have Rise DVR’d but have not watched any of the episodes yet. I like the lead character and I figured I would like the story of the making of a musical. It looks like it’s filmed kind of dark though-I guess for the atmosphere.
Oh yes, you must have watched an episode of The Middle with The Glostners. They have an episode about that family every once in awhile. Brook Shields does a great job of playing Rita Glostner-you would barely recognize her. I hope you got to watch The Goldbergs last night. I love when they show the real people that the characters are based on at the end of the show. It was funny when they showed the movies that Adam and his friend made when they were kids. Somewhere around here we have tapes of movies that Jenny and the neighbor kids made. I’ll bet they would be funny to watch if I ever figured out where they are.
It seems like most of those casinos have the same formula for restaurants. A steakhouse, a buffet and a place where you can get sandwiches and pizza. Some have a few more but they all seem to have those same three basics.
Yes nothing does say I love you like an armadillo. lol Hopefully Greg and Ron don’t get that memo. lol

      Hi Adele,
I hope Tillie’s shot and Gary’s visit to cardio rehab went well. His visit might well make a good episode of The Goldbergs. lol
Hopefully you can talk Tillie into the lifeline. I can see only pluses and no minuses to her having one. I would think it would make her feel safer and that’s a good thing. I know it’s hard to accept the little things we lose bit by bit as we get older-I already feel some of these things. However, you are still so lucky that Tillie is with you and she needs to know how happy that makes you. Also, I would bet that even though she is having some of these issues that she is still happy most of the time. But I also know it is hard not to worry about the well being of those we love. My Mom is gone almost 25 years now and my Dad almost 36. It’s hard to believe it’s been so long. Brent and Jenny were just babies when my Dad died. He saw Brent three times and Jenny only once. Sad.
Greg was home from the funeral by seven so it was not bad. I have been alone at night since the robbery and it hasn’t really bothered me. I have to get the security people out here when he is home sometime as I can never remember everything someone tells me about this kind of stuff so it’s better that he is here and we both can hear it at the same time. As we get older two memories are better than one. lol We have had no news on the theft. I don’t imagine we’ll hear anything ever again. I know two guys were caught not far away from here in Wisconsin that had been burglarizing places but don’t know if there’s a connection. Plus since they were caught in Wisconsin i have no idea if there is any exchanging of info between the two states on these kinds of crimes. Plus if they happen to be minors they will probably get a slap on the wrist. So most indications are against us ever finding out who did this. But it sure would be nice to at least know.
Greg has rehearsal tonight so it’s a no cook night for me! Hooray!

      Hi Colleen
Well, no shot for Tillie. The doctor said there will not be any more gains with another shot, so this is it for her. They will watch her eyes, and hope nothing gets worst. I was not thrilled with that news. I was hoping she would get more sight back.
Ut was an exhausting day, as it is hard to get her in and out. Gary went with me, and I handles all the back and forth at the eye doctors- she was in 3 different rooms for exams, scans, and the eye specialist. Oh well. Nothing I can do to make anything better.
I am glad you liked the comedies we all watch. They are funny. I laughed out loud at the Goldberg’s last night. Hope you did too.
Guy is coming to see the oil tank, and decide when it can be replaced. Yuck.
Gary was exhausted after the Cardiac rehab. It was a lot of walking around the hospital. they gave him a better entrance to use for next week, so that should help. We are all convinced this will not last long. they want him there twice a week, for about 2 hours a session. LOL
Hope your day is going well, and you have your list of good shows to watch tonight…….Grays Anatomy, Scandals, and The show after that one- can’t remember the name of it as it is new.
It is overcast here today, but warmer.

      Hey Gailster
Glad you have The Rise dvr’d. You will love it.
Read the post to colleen for the Tillie/gary info.
I know how you feel as my Dad has been gone since 1988. I am not sure I would ever describe Tillie as a happy person. no matter what year, or how old she is/was, she is never happy. She would pick out any tiny wrinkle, and be disgusted with it, or her hair is not thick like “all the Italians”. She would always tell you how beautiful she was years back, and thus miss all the beauty of today. She is a “glass 1/8th full” woman. If we see an old picture, instead of focusing on the happy event, she will focus on….OMG, look at that “whatever” she sees on herself. It can get exhausting.
Did you see the Goldberg’s last night? I was hysterical, even as tired as I was. Ph yes, the Goldberg’s could make several shows from Gary in his cardiac rehab.
Speaking of that, I wonder how DD is. Also hope Sue is ok, as well as Barbara today. The weather has been so weird all over, you just hope nobody got any damage at their homes.
I really hope those 2 guys they caught were the only ones robbing people in your area. I bet your police know something. I would hope they do.
I think it is always good to have 2 people hear something new, as we all miss something.
I am catching up on the last 2 days of The Chew. I love that show.
Hope your day is sunny and bright.

      Hi Gail,
I will not tell you about the episode that I watched since you have not watched it yet. It was just a little depressing for me so we watched something happy. We watched the Big Bang Theory tonight and it was pretty good. One thing I have to say is they are a strange bunch of people. You have to laugh at them and all the crazy things that they do. Have you ever watched it? we mainly watched it because Brook likes it. I fell asleep before they came on and slept until they were over with. Brook did not say anything to me or I would have woken up and we would have watched. it.
I had forgotten about Brook Sheilds playing on that show. She does play a good part and does not look like herself. She has never played a part like that I can remember. I bet she has a good time playing it. She sure had some mean kids. that is for sure.
I can just see one our guys bringing us an Armadillo. It would be so funny and they would get their feeling hurt from us laughing so hard. Times sure have changed.
I hope that those guys that they caught in Wisconsin are the same that broke into your barn. I think that you are right you will never get those things back. It is not right but that is usually how it goes. For punishment they should make those kids mow your grass with a push mower and not one with a motor. It should be the old kind with just the blade and you really had to push hard to get it to cut the grass.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I am so sorry to hear that they will not do any more shots in Tillie’s eye. If he feels that they will not do anymore good there is no sense going thru all of that. How did Tillie take it? I hope that she was able to accept it and not be too upset. I know that must have been really hard for you and Tillie to hear. I will be saying a prayer that they are wrong and she gets more of her site back without the shot.
Maybe since they gave him an easier way to get to where he needs to be it will not be so bad for him. I am surprised that they did not do that in the first place. guess they just did not think about it. I hope that it gets better for him and he will keep going back. He may start to feel so much better that he will want to go back. I will be praying for Gary also.
I fell asleep when the Goldbergs were supposed to come on. Brook did not wake me up so we missed it. We will watch it next week that is for sure. We are watching different shows every night. We watched the big bang theory tonight and it was pretty good. That was about all that we watched. They will not be here tomorrow night so do not know what I will watch.
I bet that JJ was so excited to get his dwarf sunflowers. He really came up with a good idea for his science project. I hope that it goes well for him. It sounds really interesting.
It is warm here also. It is just a little too warm. It is 11 p.m. and it is still 66 outside. That is too warm for a spring day. I think that we are going right into summer weather after all this cold. I wish that we would have a good spring.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. Not much going on here. Lots of rain, & chilly temps. Lots of snow in the mts, which is a good thing for the summer runoff. I’m okay. I came thisclose to ordering the NutriSystem TSV yesterday, but I didn’t have the $$. It’s so expensive!!! I’m hoping with the cardio rehab, I can lose some weight. Maybe it’ll help with the shortness of breath. I gotta lose some weight, & this is the first time I’ve ever set my mind to doing it. I’d like to lose 50 lbs, but I maybe setting myself up for failure if I set my goals too high. Maybe I should try for 20 lbs instead, & go from there.
More & more stuff is coming out about the Hart family (the ones who drove off the cliff in Ca.). Have you heard anything out there?
I took down the Easter décor yesterday & today. The apt looks kinda bare again. Not as bare as when I take down the Christmas décor tho. lol
      That’s all for tonight.

      hey Colleen
Tillie has been very depressed lately. She feels she has so many things wrong she is dealing with, and getting very disgusted. She cannot hear, cannot see out of the one eye, the rashes, and her toe is killing her. Of course, she refuses to go to the podiatrist, so that has no solution. She refuses to get a hearing aid, so that is a no go issue. I am more of a solution person. If there is an issue, I want to solve the problem. She thinks it will go away on it’s own, and that will not work. I could not live like that. I would have had a hearing aid years ago. Can you imagine watching TV, not being able to hear it, and now not being able to see it well? We even got her a set of headphones to hear the TV- she doe snot use them.
JJ is thrilled about his science project. Only thing is, if he does not win, he gets mad….LOL he always has to be the winner, or get the highest grade. he puts way too much pressure on himself to succeed.
it isn’t warm here. It was supposed to be near 70, but it clouded up, and it got cooler already. Then, it is supposed to get colder again this weekend.
Too bad you fell asleep during the Goldberg’s. You would have loved it. They did a segment on the movie Flashdance.
So, today I will be dong a simple marinara sauce, with linguine. I was supposed to do it yesterday, and never got to it. I was waiting for the man to come who is replacing the oil tank. he finally came after 5.
Today is a quiet day, unless I get company. You can never predict when anyone will show up over here.
      Hope your day is good!

      Hi DD
We have not heard a word about the family who drove off the cliff. That is so depressing. just thinking of how those kids felt as they went over, is too much to process. Such a horrific thing to do.
It has been chilly here all week. the heat is still on. I do hear some birds, though. that’s encouraging.
Love your spring pictures. You always brighten our dreary days. Thank you for that.
If you want to get those dinners, you have to check the salt contents. Salt is on the list of bad things for you.
      Blue Bloods is on tonight….yahoo!!!
Hope you are having a good day. I hope you like the cardio rehab. GAyr is already saying he will nto last….LOL

      Hi Adele,
I’m sorry to hear about Tilly. I guess when you get up into your 80s or 90s you figure why bother. It’s a shame. It’s makes it hard on the family. How is the rash coming along. I hope it’s getting better. I have eczema & am having a hard time finding something to get rid of it. The Dr. prescribed an ointment, but the eczema doesn’t seem to be going away. I’ll have to see if he has something else he can prescribe for it.
More terrible news is coming out about that family. The driver was drunk, the wife & kids were drugged & probably asleep when it went over the cliff. Maybe that’s a good thing. If you can call it that. Every day they find out more bad stuff. the bio mother just found out about it this week. Turns out the aunt of the kids tried to adopt the kids & keep them with the bio family but a judge over ruled it.

Looks like we’re in for a rainy weekend. But there is sunshine at the end of the tunnel. Mid week next week it’s supposed to clear out & we’ll have sunshine starting Wed. We may actually see 60 again!! I know we had a 70 day last week but it’s seems so long ago.
Well, I guess I better go get dinner.
      Have a great weekend.
I’m glad you enjoy the pics I post.

Hello Girls, we are right in the path of some really threatening storms from now until about 3 am; so I am on pins and needles. I am hoping that Colleen is okay since she and I usually get the same weather. I am praying for everyone in this storms path, and all the little animals who are out there. It has been hot here, in the high 70s and after the storms it is supposed to go down in the 40s. It is something to change like this.
I am so sorry that Ms.Tillie is having such a hard time, Adele. Mind really is so important in your well being, and sometimes you just lose the will to work or endure the aches and pains that you are going through. It is hard on her, and just as hard on you; since you love her so much. Will pray for you all.
I can only make this really short tonight; since I am scared of this weather. Prayers for everyone, and will write more when this is over. Take care everyone. Hugs, Barbara

      OMG, DD
In Mass. we try to keep the kids with family members. That is awful. I know the social worker on the case must e be heartbroken. I know I would have been. The judge has the ultimate say. I wonder if the social worker was advocating for the family, or the couple who did adopt them. See if they say, as I am very curious about that fact.
I guess it is good that they were all drugged, as the horror of going over is just too much to think about. What possesses people? Pure evil. No other explanation for me on that.
It is getting colder here all ya and then we are getting an ice storm tonight. Seriously???? All the bird houses I got are here, and we cannot get out there to put them up. Well….we could , but it is too chilly to stand out there to remove the old ones and out these up….LOL
You will get a kick out of this…….so, it was a special price to buy 2 bird houses, so I did. I just did not realize it was ” 2 sets of 2″ bird houses. Now, instead of 4, I have 6. I got the 2 sets twice, and then a different 2 from another vendor. Gary thinks I can no longer read, and need new glasses.
Thank God our Tom was on a little later, after the bombing news. We all needed to see his face, after that scary news. I hope they got all the chemicals. But, we all know they can get more, and start again. Such a scary world we live in. Those poor kids over there having to hear the bombs, and be so scared every day. Families should not have to live that way. Very depressing.
hope I have not depressed you too much.
      How is Kate???
forgot to say….do you think your rash is psoriasis? there is a different, special cream for that, whihc Tillie now has.
Hope you are having a good day.

      Hey Barbara
I was hoping when I saw those on the news last night, that all my Quacker buddies will be spared any damage. I said a prayer last night and hope it worked.
Please post if you can, as I know you may be out of electricity. Hoping for the best!

Also hope Colleen and Gail are all safe and sound. I think Sue is too far north , whihc I hope she is, tobe out of harm’s way.

      Praying for all my Quackers!!!

      Hi Adele,
No you didn’t depress me talking about Syria. I just don’t understand why they don’t take out that monster. I hope I didn’t upset you with the news from out here. You’re right about keeping the kids with family. The attorney who was overseeing the case for the family gave an interview to HLN or some news organization last week. She said she felt so bad when she got the horrible news. and like I said the mother of the kids just found out about it this week. The family says the kids were handed over to a pair of monsters. Makes my heart ache for them. I wonder if the judge was prejudiced against them as they are African American & so is the attorney for the family. It all happened in Texas. Just a thought. I have to wonder about some of the judges out there. giving lenient sentences to drunk drivers who kill families, etc. Infuriates me no end!! I’ll get off my soap box now.
You’re getting ANOTHER ice storm??? It’s mid APRIL!!!! what is going on?? We’re supposed to have a soggy weekend, but it hasn’t showed up yet. It’s cloudy, but the sun is peeking thru right now.
Maybe you need to get a pair of those readers they sell at drug stores or where ever. Couldn’t hurt to check em out. You wouldn’t have to go to the expense of an eye exam & expensive prescription lenses.
Psoriasis. I never thought of that. Thanks I’ll check it out.
I hope everyone is safe today. I haven’t heard anything today.
Kay is doing just fine, she’s so much better than she was!! She needs to gain some weight tho. I’d be more than happy to give her some of mine.
ITKWD is 5 hrs tomorrow. They have a barbeque grill for the TSV.
      Well, that’s all for now.
      Take care & stay warm!!

      Hey Dd
My eyes are pretty bad, and I wear glasses 24/7. So, glasses over the glasses won’t work….LOL I am overdue for an exam- I usually go every 2 years. But, with all the appointments for everyone else around here, I just got around to making one for me.
I love the old pics of our TV sweetheart….LOL
No,you did not depress me. It reminds me of why I retired. Enough was enough. We recommended to the courts, and the courts made decisions we all had to live with. problem is, the courts decide on matters of law, and social workers more on emotion, and what is in the best interest of the child. The best interests, and law do not always match up. When it blows up, the worker will always be blamed.
I owuld bet there were some crazy decisions on that case, that could have been affected by prejudices. Texas does not have a great reputation for being kind to anyone who is not white. But, how knows, those old reputations may be a thing of the past. At least, one would hope they are, especially in today’s culture.
The ice storm is tonight, into tomorrow morning. It got cold again. They say we will break records tomorrow. Funny thing is, they are playing baseball tomorrow too. Imagine the poor fans? They will be bundled up as if they are going to a football game.
We will be watching shows we have recorded, as there is not even a new movie on Hallmark tonight.

      Hi Adele,
We have been having a couple of rough days. Mom had a stroke and is in the hospital. They say that she is not going to have any permanent damage form it but it was really scary. They cannot get her blood pressure under control so that is really the main worry right now. They do not want her to go home until they have that under control again. I just hope that she does not have another stroke while they are trying regulate her pressure.
I am sorry that Tillie is so depressed. It is hard to get older. I cannot imagine what it is like to live to their age. It is so hard to know what to do or say to get them out of their depression. Just hope that she starts to come out of it on her own. Maybe her doctor will give her something for it. Just to make her feel better.
JJ is so cute. I hope that he wins and his experiment goes well for him. Do they all win some type of ribbon or do they just have first, second and third place? I would think at his age they would still have a ribbon for everyone. If he is successful he should win.
Mandy fixed pizza for dinner tonight. I was too tired when we got home from the hospital. We are lucky that she is living here with us right now. The first week that mom is home we will have to go and stay with her. My sisters and i will take turns staying with her for the week. Then the next week home health will take over. The doctor said that she will be able to go back to her regular activities after she goes home. We will just have to watch her meals and how thin that her blood gets. I hate that she has to take that cumadin. I cannot even spell it right.
We did not have any damage around here from the storms last night. They were more in St. Louis and in that area then where we are. We did have a lot of rain though and the low water bridges were covered. We just had to watch out for that. We are lucky though we have another way we can get out .
I am glad that we heard from Barbara now we just need to hear from Gail and make sure that she is okay.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
The storms did not get as bad here. They were worse in St. Louis and around that area. We were lucky. Did it get really bad where you are?
My mom had a stroke so we have been running back and forth with her. I wrote all about it to Adele. You can read about it there I cannot write it all again.
It makes me want to cry if I think about it too much.
I will be praying that you are safe and still have electric. heard for my daughter today so know that she is okay. I am not sure if the storms hit where she lives in Tennessee.
Well that is all for tonight. Have a great night.

Thank you for sending all the cheerful pictures. Especially the ones of Tom Selleck. We were watching Blue bloods last night and they cut the ending off for the storm warnings. So we do not know how it ended. If you watched it I would appreciate it if you would let me know how it ended.
I do not like to listen to the news anymore. There is just bad news out there all the time. now. Any time that there is something going on that involves the military it really worries me. Our son-in – law is in the Army so they can call him to go over seas at anytime.
Well that is all from here. I wrote all of my news to the post to Adele. I f you are interested you can see it there. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
So sorry to hear about your Mom. Even though they don’t know me your Mom and Tillie are like substitute Moms to me and I love to hear the stories about them. There’s nothing like that relationship-especially Moms and daughters. I will be sending lots of prayers your way.
We had high winds Friday and part of Saturday. A little bit of snow but mostly ice. This morning the tree branches are icy. I thought we might lose power as the lights were blinking last night but so far so good. Knock wood. (I’m knocking on my head)
I’m not even sure if this will send as I am using my phone for a mobile hotspot right now. No regular internet connection.
I will be praying for you and your Mom.
      Hugs,

      Hi Colleen
I am so terribly sorry your Mom had a stroke. How did you find out? I am thinking she was able to call 911, or you. No matter how you got the call, it must have been awful. I know with Tillie, any time she doe snot answer the phone my first thought its…is this it?
I hope they get her blood pressure regulated as soon as possible. I know she probably hates being in the hospital. Is the hospital closer to you? It is good you have a sister to help with your Mom. A sister is a wonderful thing to have. I am also happy Mandy is with you and Ron. her needing to come home, has helped you and Ron a lot. God bless her and her kids. God bless all of you, actually. I added a prayer for your Mom I know we will all be praying she gets better, and is soon back in her own home.
Thank you for the nice comments on JJ. He is a funny kid, but so serious. I am glad he is interested in nature, and the arts. He was in wrestling, which they did so he can get some of his aggression out about not being first all the time….LOL Boys need an outlet.
Also thrilled that you were not in harm’s way for those awful storms. We were supposed to get sleet, but, we only had some minor snow flurries so far. It is very dark and gloomy here today. Makes you achy. Dying for Spring to come, and I hope I get the bird houses up before the birds nest in the old, dirty ones.
I hope your weather is better, so it makes visiting your mom easier for you and Ron. You are in my thoughts, and will be, until this is all over.

      Hey Gailster!
I will be adding a prayer for your lights to remain on, as well as Barbara and Sue’s. So far up here, it has not been as bad as they predicted.
Tomorrow will be raw and rainy and it is Boston Marathon day. As it has been 5 years for the bombing, they did a beautiful memorial this morning, with the Mayor and Governor. It was well done, but, very very sad.
We will be praying from coast to coast for Colleen’s Mom. Sooooo, if you feel Tillie us your Mom too, do I now have a sister??? Yahoo!! Actually, I feel like I have 5 sisters: you, Colleen, Sue, DD, and Barbara. I have been blessed with support from sea to shining sea, as I love to say.
I hope the ice melts before it damages any trees in your area.

Now it’s snowing like crazy! I told Greg to wait and not take the plow off the pickup yesterday. I told him it was going to snow but he chose to believe the internet and not his wife. Potato soup for him! Not a punishment as he loves potatoes. Except right now he is doing the no carbs thing again. He gets on a kick and does this every 4 years or so-loses weight goes back to eating regularly eventually and gains all the weight back. He’s barely overweight anyway-not like me and i keep telling him it’s worse health wise to keep gaining and losing the same 20 pounds than it is just to keep his weight stable where it is but it’s another case where he just won’t listen to me-he’d rather listen to his friends tout their diets. It’s just a pain when he starts eating like this.

Well we had a beautiful day yesterday but the cold front moved in from out west (thanks Gail) and the temp dropped 40 degrees overnight. Today was so dark & cold. Overnight and tomorrow we are to have strong winds &3inches of rain. The weatherman did warn us. He said this day will make you want to go outside & plant flowers/veggies but don’t as it is getting cold again. I hope it does not freeze overnight. I also hope we do not lose power for a long time as I just stocked the freezer & would hate to throw it all away. I ate the ice cream so it would not melt.
Adele that is why diets don’t work as soon as you eat normal you put it back on. I just cannot give up all the good stuff forever.
DD thanks for sending me the photo of jewell. Pet her for me. Wish I could give her a hug. But I might get my eyes scratched out. Some kitties don’t want messed with.

      Hi Ladies,
Colleen, I’m sorry to hear about your Mother having a stroke. I hope she’s doing better now. I hope they were able to get her blood pressure down. Yes, we’ll all be praying for her & you.
Adele, what’s with the potato soup thing. I’ve never had potato soup. I’ve had potatoes in stew but that’s about it. Is there a special way to make it? I’m hoping the nutritionist will be able to put me on the right track. Maybe they will have recipes or at least ideas for me. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Sue, I don’t think Jewell would scratch your eyes out. I still have mine. I keep her claws trimmed. She’d probably squirm till she got put down. I’ll give her pets & snuggle her for you. She snuggles with me when I take an afternoon nap.

We had a soggy Sunday here. Not very warm either. Rain stays thru Tues. then Wed. it’s supposed to start warming up into the 60s, maybe even 70!!! If we do you’ll hear me all the way out there.
      Well that’s all for tonight.
Take care & have a good week.

      Hi Everybody,
Gail, I will gladly share mom with you. She would love to have more daughters. I hope that you do not lose your electric. We were really lucky and did not get all of that. We did have some snow flurries this afternoon but not enough to matter. Hope that the snow that you are getting today will melt fast and the weather will warm up. I hope that Barbara posts soon.
Adele, My mom has one of those emergency things that you just push a button and you get help. I cannot think of the name of them now. It is the one where the lady falls in the shower and she pushes the button and tells them that she has fallen and she cannot get up. After they called the ambulance they called my brother and then my brother called me. She has my brother and I listed as her emergency numbers but my brother gets called first. He lives closer to her house then I do and he can get there faster. She is coming home tomorrow and I will have to go there and stay for a couple of days. We have someone in the family staying with her all week. Just to make sure that she will be okay at home by herself again.
So far it seems like we are all okay. Gail is okay but may not have electric. I wish that we would hear from Barbara and find out if she is okay. My daughter that lives in Tennessee has not had any problems so I am hoping that Barbara did not either. Just be careful and do not go out if it gets bad.
DD, You have really posted some cheerful pictures again. It is so nice to see them right now. Sorry that you are getting all that rain. Just hope that you will not get all that flooding. I hate it when it starts flooding and so many people lose everything that they have to the high water.
Thank you all for the prayers. They mean a lot and they really do work. Mom is coming home tomorrow and she is doing okay. I will find out tomorrow how things are going with the blood pressure. I will talk to all of you when I get back.
Thank you for being such special friends.

We are the same as you. Strong winds and tons of rain all day long. The backyard looks like a pond where the pool is. It was pelting rain every once in a while. So dark it looks like evening time, all day long.
I hope your electricity stays on, and you do not get cold enough for ice. this weather is absolutely bizarre.

Good idea to eat the ice cream, just in case. We don’t have any in the freezer right now. I should have got some!

Hope you have a quieter night. The poor Marathon runners got drenched up here today. Yuck.

Colleen is responsible for the potato soup…..LOL When Ron is in the dog house, she cooks him potato soup, because he hates it. So, that has become our go to thing for bad behavior….LOL
You should have seen all the rain we have been having all day today- pelting down an everyone. Heather and Frankie had a trying time doing the deliveries today. Frankie stayed in his car until the huge downpours were done. Heather got into a mess at one shop that had a lot of puddles. I hope this ends some time soon.

That is great news about your Mom. I bet you are relieved she will be coming home. It will be a nice bonding time for the two of yo, while you are caring for her. It is also nice that you have siblings to help out. Our prayers were answered. We will all keep praying to make sure she makes a full recovery.

We got tons of rain today, and it is still going. Some tome tomorrow am it will stop.

      Hi Ladies,
I was so mad last night I could’ve chewed nails(not fingernails). I wrote out a post only to lose it & had to sign in again. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
I’m glad to hear Barbara is okay. That’s a big relief. I’ve seen some of the clips on the news, & they look so terrifying.
I can’t remember what I wrote about last night, so it’ll come to me later, I’m sure.
I’m glad all of you enjoy the pics I post. If I repeat, just ignore it.
We had breaking news today. They identified that female found on the Ca. coast as one of the kids. It was Ciera Hart. Sooooo sad!!!

I got paperwork for the cardio rehab & it looks like they’ll help me lose some weight. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get recipes or something to get me on the right track. I’m going for 20 lbs to start out with, then go from there. I want to find out why I’m short of breath whenever I do something. They’ll no doubt put me on an exercise program.
I heard about the Boston marathon & the nasty weather they had to run in. I can’t believe how bad it is back there. Unbelievable!!!

Well, I guess that’s all for now
      take care.

      Hey DD
I did those green stamps. They were great. We got a lot of good stuff from turning in our filled books.
I also remember when gas was a quarter- right when i started to drive in 1966.
Is that the only victim they found? I think you said there were 4 kids, and the parents? So terribly sad.
It is still chilly today. the kids are having an awful vacation. I do no see anyone outside at all. My bird houses are at the end of the table, and will stay there until it is warm enough to get them out there….LOL
Hope it is warm at your place!!

      Hey Sue
I hope the snow is gone by today. It did not rain or do anything here yesterday. Tomorrow, they say rain and possible snow….again.
This is the weirdest spring ever. I get a kick out of Lowes and Home depot advertising the flowers, etc. They can’t even leave them outside or they will die….LOL
I am hoping your weather is better today. stay warm!

      Hey DD
The passing of Barbara Bush is very sad. She was a great lady, mother, grandmother and a respected and honored First Lady, whose words were always appropriate, and always comforting. The death of an age of public service, without personal gain. A real sad day for the Bush family, and the nation.

Hello friends. Colleen, I am so sorry to hear of your Moms stroke; but so grateful to know she is doing good. Thank God for that blessing for her and you all. I know this must have scared you all so much; and I am glad to know that you have help in caring for her when she comes home. We bought one of those push button things for MawMaw to wear around her neck after she fell the first time. I think it was called First Alert. I know we and she loved having it and it really was comforting to know that all she had to do was push the front of it and help would come and we would be notified. She didn’t push it when she fell the last time because she said she knew Jerry was on his way anyway to pick her up to go shopping. I will sure keep your Mom in my prayers that she is able to get her BP down and stay down and for you all too as you care for her. I will give you the same “advice” I always gave my patients families; rest whenever you can; that worry about your loved one takes so much of your strength, and not to feel guilty but instead feel good in knowing when you are resting it is only so you can have strength to care for your Moms needs. I am like Gail, I feel like Ms. Tillie and your Mom are my surrogate Moms; and I love hearing their stories.
Our sick folks are doing a little better. It turned so cold after the storms; so we have been supplying the kids with warm meals. No matter what their age; I still worry when they get sick and I know you all feel the same about your family. Gail, how is Brent doing now? Have they sifted through all the tests and come up with something that will help him? Sure hope so. Stress from having so many tests can cause our immune systems to have a harder time fighting off things; and I know he must have been so tired of all the poking and proding for diagnosis. Prayers for him and you all.
Jerry is doing some better; so now he is in the “danger” zone of thinking that he feels better so now he can leap tall buildings instead of counting his blessings and taking it slowly. DD I am so proud of you for having such a positive attitude about your cardiac rehab. I bet you do great. Please let us know about the dietary recommendations that they give you. I love fresh fruit and vegetables; and I bet they give you some good recipes that we would like to try too. I know I am big, have been most of my life. I am like Jeanne; I just proudly decorate all my chubby bits. Your pictures remind my of some really good memories. I love the kitty at the computer. Our Auto Kitty just LOVES to sit on my computer; especially if it is warm after I have used it a while and closed it up. And he looks so mad when I have to get him off. He just lays his ears back and walks away with a disgusted little sway. He does love to cuddle; but it has to be when HE wants to; not the other way around. Ha ha. We surely love him; and I know you do Jewell too.
Sue, I can’t believe you are getting such cold bad weather. I am so sorry. Hang in there; Spring has to be coming soon.
Well, sending some roast and veggies out tonight with some fresh bread and some chocolate chip cookies. I know they will be happy to see it. Take care everyone; and best of luck as Mom comes home Colleen. Prayers to all, Barbara

      Hi Ladies,
I want to thank you for your support on my new adventure. I’m gonna need it. I already know one thing they’ll insist on. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store. and avoid the can foods, or the middle of the store. My Dr. told me frozen vegs are okay. they aren’t as processed as the canned. Oh, and avoid any processed food like bacon, lunchmeat (sodium), hot dogs, etc. I’m gonna have a hard time with a lot of it. Esp. sweets, bread, sodas, (I’m a Pepsi-holic), CHOCOLATE!! I never had much of a sweet tooth till I hit my 40s. that could be when I quit smoking, but I’m not gonna start that again. I did get a couple cookbooks from the Q so I hope I can use them & substitute the heavy calorie stuff for healthier stuff. It’s the exercise part I’m really gonna have a hard time with. I’m so out of shape now. Not that I ever was, but when I was working, I got plenty of exercise cuz I was on my feet a lot & moving about.

I’m sorry everyone is having such bad weather this time of yr. I can’t believe you’re still getting blizzard conditions this late in the yr!! Our weather has been chilly for this month. We’ve had more rain than usual. But we’re in for some warm sunny days in the next few days!! We may actually see 70 next week!! Hopefully it’ll make its way out there.
Well, that’s about it for tonight.
      Talk to ya later.

      Hi All,
I got home today and will be here for a few days and then I will go back. Mom is doing really well. The only problem that she has noticed is with her eyes. She will go to see the eye doctor in a few weeks and he will tell her if it is permanent or not. She can still see but she is having some problems. It was nice to be with her for those couple of days. I got a lot of stuff done at her house and that will help her out until next week. The I will have to go back and do some more things for her.
I cannot believe that weather all of you are having. Some places are getting snow and really cold weather. It is cold here now. We were in the 70’s earlier today and now it is in the 30’s. Adele I cannot believe all the rain you have been getting there. That must be a mess. I hope that you do not have flooding. That is always a mess.
DD. you can do this. You will be able to lose some of the weight that they want you to lose. You can do it you are a strong willed person and that is what it will take. We are all here to cheer you on.
I can remember the green stamps. we use to save them and they were nice. You could get some nice things with them. I can remember everything in those pictures. It really brings back memories. It does not matter if you send the same pictures again they are all really fun to look at. It is fun to look back at all of these things. Sure does bring back good memories.
I am glad that you kids are feeling better now. It is from all that good cooking that you did for them. You are such a good mom. I hope that your weather is better and not like ours tonight. We were warm today but now it is really cold so if it is coming your way watch out. It was really windy all day and then it turned cold. Where is spring? I hope that we do not go right into summer. we still do not have anything planted it has been too cold. I hope that we can start planting the veggies. I love the fresh things out of the garden and will miss them if we do not get them this summer.
Mom said to say thank you to all of you for the prayers. She really appreciated them. I hope that all of you are doing okay and have a good night.

      Hi Everyone,
Thank you for sharing your Moms with the rest of us.
It’s funny Adele, you always wanted siblings and I had two very close girlfriends growing up who were only children and i always envied them. I guess because I felt left out as my bother and sister were five and four years older then me and close and i was left out. (thus my invisible friend, Jolly) lol Now is different and I am happy I have them but growing up not so much.
Colleen, it sounds like you are spending some good quality time with your mom. I hope the eyesight problem improves as I know she is a reader. It sounds like those life line things really come in handy. Even though I keep getting annoying phone calls wanting me to get one.
Barbara, it’s good to hear that everyone at your place is on the mend. Just try to keep Jerry from doing too much too soon. (i know-hopeless task-right?)
They are still struggling trying to find the right medicine for Brent’s ulcerative colitis. He has an appointment with the cardiologist in a couple of weeks too.
DD I still have some pyrex and corning ware dishes that I got when we got married and even some from my mother before that. They are indestructible. And they are great because they go in oven, microwave and fridge.
Sue, I know what you mean about giving up the goodies forever. It just seems like an overwhelming task.
We had some snow earlier in the week and then again some overnight but nothing like what they got in Green Bay and Minneapolis. It’s just so odd to look out the window and see snow on the ground in the middle of April.
We went to Kendall’s spring program the other night. Greg and i were really impressed that the music teacher had all these kids playing the recorder. She did a great job with them. Then we went to her classroom afterwards to look at her state project. She had Kentucky.
I think next week we are finally going to get some better weather. It has been a weird spring!

      Hey Barbara
Glad Jerry is feeling better, and I hope he remembers it is just one wrong move, to get him right back there again. The guys just do not get that. I know they want to feel needed, and helpful, but, we are all getting older.
Also good to hear the patients are recovering. these flu’s have been awful this year. There is another one going around up here. I hope nobody up here gets it.
It is pouring up here, and very chilly. What a miserable week for the kids’ school vacation. They were all here yesterday, and it was nice to see the boys. Steph and I were cleaning out my mother’s buffet. Steph wanted it, and we were thrilled she is taking it. She is going to use it as a bureau in their bedroom. So, we got all Tillie’s china from when she got married, and washed all of it. I will get a couple of bins, and store it safely away in the attic, in the hope that one of them will buy a house, and hist holiday dinners with the china….LOL
I hope the weather is better where you are. I think the rain is to stop over the weekend. Makes you feel so tired.

      Hi Dd
Gary went to the cardiac rehab yesterday. He spoke with the nutritionist first. He told her what I have been doing to him, and she said to keep it up….LOL
He had a hard time with the exercises- not doing them, when he came home. They keep checking you heart rate, blood pressure, etc, while you move. he did fine with all of that. But, when he came home, he looked awful. He was exhausted. In the shower, he said he almost passed out, and felt awful the rest of the night. he also had a very hard time in bed, as he could no get comfortable. His shoulders and hip were killing him. I told him he will have to back off a little, and definitely let them know what happened when he got home. Gary has lost another 2 lbs, but, he is very out of shape. His arms are very small for his size, as the muscles have atrophied.
I know you will do a lot better than Gary, as you take care of your house, etc. Just make sure you do not overdo it the first time there. Gary siad he made a friend with the guy who was next to him, and he told him he would feel much better after a while. So, there is hope….LOL
Hope your day is bright and sunny. Not so over here….LOL

      Hi Colleen
Just a heads up on your Mom’s eyes…… please make sure she did not have a retina bleed, like Tillie did. They thought Tillie had a stroke the night we went to the ER, because these retina bleeds are common with a stroke. Have her cover one eye, and see if she has any black spots she cannot see out of. If, so get her to the ER, so they can start treatments quick. They think Tillie had the bleed for a while, and that is why the shots did not take all the blood away. I will be praying she did not have a retina bleed, as it is so hard to loose some sight at their ages.
Of course we pray for your Mom. She is one of our Quacker Moms…..LOL I will continue praying, and keep her in my prayers every night.
Marissa just called and said she made the Dean;s List last semester, and didn’t even know. Amanda was at school, and saw her name posted. Hiw funny is that!
JJ is at the dentist today, getting a baby tooth removed. I hope that goes well.
I bet it is nice to be back in your own bed. I am so glad your Mom is doing better. Thank God.

Ps…still raining. No flooding where I am.

      Hey Gailster!
So, did I tell you all I have an awful UTI???? I kept going to the bathroom, and it was hurting more and more yesterday. After everyone left, I called the after hours line and begged for an antibiotic, as there was no way I was going to take a shower, and go to the ER, with a huge co-pay, and then by the time I was done, no CVS would still be open. So, my doctor reluctantly gave me one, with that brown pill to stop the spasms. Well, my insurance did not cover the brown pill- 48.50. I did not care, as it was really bad last night. I did call the insurance company today, and they are sending out a form to protest. the nice lady said I may get reimbursed. Seriously??
I have not had a UTI in a very long time. they are not fun. Not feeling that great today, but most of the pain is gone. Thank God.
I am still praying for Brent to get a positive answer from the cardiologist. Having something wrong with his heart at his age, is just not acceptable. Have the meds for his stomach started to work yet? I hope so.
Glad you had a good time at the concert. It sounds like the teacher put in a lot of effort with the kids, and that’s very nice. Speaking of that- have you seen Rise yet? I love that show.
Hope your weather is warmer than us. We are in the 40’s. yuck. My bird houses will nevi get out there.
We are doing Bobby’s birthday on Sunday. I will make a cake, of course, on Saturday.
Te last Scandal is on tonight. I think either Cirus or Nelly will get murdered. Who do you think it will be?

      Hi Gail,
It is a shame that they cannot find the medicine to help Brent. I think that it is harder when you have so many doctors looking into things. They have to get together and find the medicine that will help and not effect his heart. His doctor sound like she is doing really well with that though. We are will be praying for him.
Mom is still reading. She is afraid that they are going to tell her to stop and that would really be bad for her. She spends a lot of time reading. Now that she is supposed to be taking it easy she would not know if she could not read. I think that you and my mom read about the same amount.
It is amazing what those teachers can do with the kids. They are so good and get the kids to do things together. It would be hard to get them to play the same note at the same time. It is amazing that they can do that with the little kids also. Does Kendall enjoy doing the spring concert? Just wondering if she will be the next one in the group to start acting in plays when she gets in high school. It will be interesting to see.
You have really been getting hit with the bad weather. We do not get anything but the cold. Maybe we will all start to get some spring weather now. It is about time. I am so sick of it being cold. I am afraid that it is going to get really hot and we will not have a spring at all. We do not have one veggie planted in the ground yet. That is not good for us here. We usually have things planted by now. Everything will be late this year.
The only bad thing about the corning ware dishes were if they broke they just shattered all over the place. They are a mess to clean up. One thing in their favor they were hard to break and that was good.
Well that is all from here . Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
Mom can still read so it is not a retina bleed. They are watching it pretty close and the eye doctor will see her in a month. They want to give her eye that much time to do better. She is blind in one eye and has been for a long time. You can not tell it though. Thank you for the heads up though.
Good for Marissa. She is so smart and I know that you must be really proud of her. That is funny that her sister saw her name on the list and she didn’t. She must have been surprised that she had made the list.
That is funny that Gary did not get any sympathy from the therapist because of how you are feeding him. I bet that made him appreciate you a lot more and what you are doing for him. It always takes a man a long time to figure out that what we are doing is for their own good. You take such good care of him. I hope that he tells them about how he felt when he got home and got in the shower. They will slow it down a little. They do not want to over work him. It is nice that he has made a friend that has gone thru this and he will help him thru it. They can help each other.
UTI’s are really painful. I have had them before and they are hard to get rid of. They can also make you feel off balance. I am glad that they gave you an antibiotic and you did not have to go into see the doctor. At this time in our lives we can tell if we have a problem and usually know what it is or we would not call in and tell them or ask for the medicine. Doctors can be a pain sometimes.
Take care of yourself and rest when you can.

      Hi Colleen
I am glad your Mom does not have a retina bleed. How did she lose her sight in the one eye? It is awful when someone loses their sight at their ages. They do not have a lot to look forward to in their 90’s, and losing sight stops them from reading and watching TV.
I told Gary to do the arm exercises he did at cardio rehab, so they will not be so sore. If he exercises only 2 times a week, those muscles are goign to kill him. he really needs to move them more for the rehab to work.
The carpenter stopped by today. he will be here Monday to start the rest of the work that got damaged from the trees. I will be glad when that is all done. It seems like there are always projects going on here.
The sun is shining-yahoo!!!! I have not heard the weather today, so I am not sure how long it will last. It does make you feel a lot better when it is nice and bright.
the pain is a lot less from the UTI. It was really bad on Wednesday. It does take the 48 hours for any antibiotic to work. I am glad I made the call. I spoke to my doctor’s office today on the loss of my hair. they suggested a dermatologist, so I made that appointment. My doctor is out today, and she will talk to him to see if they want to increase the thyroid med, as that could be a cause too. When i wash my hair, there is a lot in the drain, and when I comb it, I have handful’s of hair in the comb, and in my hands. This is just not right, and I do not want to end up bald. My hair is the only physical thing people comment on…how pretty all the curls are. But, I figure it this way- if there is nothing to stop it, I will get my hair cut very close to my scalp, and people will think that is the haircut i wanted….LOL I will look like the older women who have the bald haircuts on TV. But, most of those women are black. I may be the first white woman with that haircut.
Dam. We lose so much as we age. I have to remember to be grateful, as hair loss is not life threatening, and there are a lot of people with way worst than me. The glass is half full…. some days it is tiring for my glass to be half full. Sorry for the Debbie Downer today. You have enough going on with your Mom.
My Mom is feeling better today, and I am guessing it is because the sun is shining. That is a good thing.
Hope your day is going well.

      Hi Adele,
She has a small film that grew over the eye and she has not been able to see out of it. They did not have the know how to remove it when they first found it but not she is too old and they said that it may not work now anyway. So she is use to it and it does not bother her.
You really have to keep up with the exercises if you do not want to get really sore. He will be fine in a few more days of doing all of the exercises. I am just hoping that the friend that he made will inspire him to keep going back. Men give up so easy.
I hope that you get rid of that UTI soon. Sounds like it is on the mend right now. That is not good that your hair is coming out that fast. There should be something that they can do for it to stop it. I do not think that it will come to you having to have that close cut hair. You have such curly hair.
The sun shinning always makes everyone feel better. The sun was shinning here all day and was it nice. I got my hair cut and went to the dollar store where Mandy works. She was working the register and putting things away. It was funny when I went in there she has stuff all over the floor. She was putting up a new display.
I am just so tired tonight. I do not know what is going on with me. I have days like this and I cannot get enough sleep. So guess that I will get off of here and go to bed. Have a great night.
      Colleen
p.s. Glad that Tillie is feeling good today. Hopefully the sun will keep shinning and she will feel better for a few more days.

We have a pretty sunny day today 60 degrees Now that is more like it. But it is to go away again & be dark & rainy next week. Quite a comeback as it was in the 20’s this morning.

      hey Colleen, and everyone

A bad day that began at 4:00 am. I woke to a horrific noise, which was Gary falling in the bathroom, and unconscious. It took a few yells for him to answer me- he was wedged between the toilet and bathroom wall. He was disoriented and thought he was in bed. A few more words, and he went out again. I dialed 911, and screamed for Bobby.
Let me tell you, when you are waiting for EMT’s a minute feels like an hour. the dispatcher kept me on the phone, and at one moment, I asked what county they were coming from….LOL God bless the firemen and EMT’s. While I was in the kitchen listing Gary’s meds( of course I could not find the note I gave him to keep with his wallet on his meds) Bobby said they rolled him into a type of sheet, and carried him out, like he was in a hammock.
I called Marissa, and she met me at the hospital. You all know she is my calmest Minnion. At first they were working on him, and then they came out to get us, saying he was becoming more critical. I was asked the dreaded question….do you gnat us to use extraordinary measures? His blood pressure was 50/17. I did not know it could go that low. they gave him blood and fluids, saying he must be bleeding somewhere.
So, long story short……..all the CAT scans came out negative for the awful things- no concussion, broken neck, burst aorta, heart attack, or stroke. he did look like he had a seizure atone point, but they decided it was from the low blood pressure. He began to have some gross bodily functions, whihc they attributed to the low blood pressure, and that his organs were not getting what they needed. He is currently bagged and with a catheter, and in ICU. They are looking at blood, and other tests to see if he has some awful virus that caused all of this. the nurse said they got some very sick people in the past few days who had similar symptoms, but not the low blood pressure thing. I guess I am hoping/praying it is a virus. He will remain in ICU until they get the blood pressure stable, and find out why.
I came home exhausted, as i had on my Carole Hochman pj’s, had not even brushed my teeth, or washed my face. I tired to take a nap- did not work. Bobby is up there now. Marissa and Enzo also going up tonight.
I had text’d my good friends, and as usual, Al was the first one up and out of bed to get it, and he came right to the hospital. Al is out friend (and Winnie’s husband) who is on dialysis. He had tears in his eyes atone point, and said…..why do we have to have all these horrible things happen to us, when we were good people, who never harmed anyone? I told him they were both good men, who do not deserve this. Also said retirement was not supposed to work out this way. dam. Had another chat with God while I was in the bathroom at the hospital, and in the car.
Prayers needed for the crazy man, who scared the Be Jesus out of me today. Had they taken my blood pressure at the house, they would have whisked me off to the ER in another ambulance. I tell you, my heart was pounding out of my chest, and it took me a few minutes to be able to walk down my steps. Marissa beat me to the hospital, and we live closer…..LOL
it was a beautiful day here today, a day we planned on putting up the bird houses, the new flag, and I to make a cake for the birthday party that will not be this weekend. Man plans, and God laughs. God needs to pick on someone else for a while….LOL
Tillie is beside herself. Heather has been crying non stop. Amanda is working a double today and will not be at the hospital until tomorrow, or Monday, as I think she said she is doing doubles tomorrow too. the rest of the crew will be in and out to see him.
I am betting the rest of my hair will fall out by Monday. Every day is a blessing, and every single minute. Every one. I wonder why God keeps reminding me of that. Trust me…..I got it!
Love you guys. I have no idea how I had the where with all to write all this tonight. I have to laugh at myself.
Adele….who knows every day is a gift. Please let God know I got this one. Maybe He will listen to all of you. I pray you are all ok today.

Adele I am sorry Gary is so sick. It was insensitive of me to post that funny but I had no idea about Gary. One tip I could give you I keep a list of my medicine with my ambulance card on the frig. Then I know where to grab it of the ambulance members know where to look for it. Hi Adele,
OMG!! I just read your post. I’m so very sorry to hear about Gary. I had a loved one pass out in the bathroom years ago. they got him to the hospital in the nick of time, too. His aorta ruptured & he went directly into surgery. I hope they find out what happened. I’ll be sending prayers for Gary, & you.
Colleen’s right. Take care of yourself!!!
Love & hugs from me, & licks & purrs from Jewell

      Hello fellow Quackers

Well, you will not believe this one. After a few calls back and forth from Gary this morning, I get this one. He says that all tests came back negative, and they are finishing the antibiotics they started yesterday. He then tells me they feel it was the fluid pills he takes ( he only takes them 2 to 3 times a week, and is supposed to take them daily), and adds, and you are going to get real upset with me when I tell you this….so I say…..dehydrated? He says yes, and I hung up.
He has been slacking off on the water drink-age, and when I mention this to him, he tells me to mind my business. So, I stopped nagging about the water, as there are only so many battles I can get into in one day. Seriously???? I could not sleep last night, as the scene kept playing in my mind, and the words o the ER staff…do you want us to use “extraordinary measures to save his life”?
My heart was beating so fast when I found him, I could barely speak to the dispatcher, because I could not breathe. I had to pray, try to breathe, and drink water repeatedly, after they left to get my heart to stop beating so fast before I left for the hospital. I was afraid I would fall down the stairs, because my heart was pounding so hard. I was scared to death, and this insane person caused all of this from his not drinking. Again. this time, he was circling the drain. Can you imagine a blood pressure of 50/17?
I will not visit him today. I just can’t. If any of the EMT;s took my blood pressure, i think they would have called another ambulance. It gets real old when someone will not listen. this is the 3rd time he was hospitalized for lack of drinking- 2 for his kidneys and now this one with the extreme low blood pressure. I am wondering if he did more damage to the remaining kidney. My friend Winnie said she woudl not be surprised if he ended up on dialysis after this one.
I feel awful today. Light headed, and nauseous. I am drinking more water to make it go away. It usually does after the 2ond glass. My friend Nancy told me to ask him why he hates me so much, to make me so stressed every day….LOL They all want to smack him silly.
      thank you for the prayers.

      OMG , girls
You will not believe this one!
Marissa went in to see him, and while there the doctor came in, and said they re-tested the stool sample, as it sometimes takes more time, and he has salmonella poisoning from the clams he had Thursday night.
Marissa said I need to apologize. i do not feel like apologizing…..LOL
      Adele

PS…..I hope his kidneys did not get further damage from this, as the take out place will get my wrath from today.

      Hi Adele,
I wouldn’t be too quick to take your anger out on the take out place just yet. I doubt they knew/know they have tainted food. I would let them know what happened so they can take measures to correct it. I’d report it to the local health dept. so they know salmonella poisoning is out there. Gary probably isn’t the only case of it if many people eat at this place. If they did knowingly serve tainted fish, the health dept. should shut it down. When something like that happens around here, the local news will alert the public.
I HATE CLAMS!!!! I’ll eat shrimp, fish, but never clams. now I know why I don’t like em!!

I went to the cardio rehab on Friday. It looks like I may not be able to continue. Turns out I have to pay out $35 each time I go to the class, which is 2 o3 times a week. I can’t afford $70-105 per week till Aug.!!! so I’m gonna have to call the insurance guy & see what he can tell me. I thought when the Dr. puts you into something like that it was covered. It’s disheartening to think I won’t be able to attend the classes.

Spring has FINALLY ARRIVED out here!!! We got a beautiful week coming up. It’s supposed to get into the 70s & maybe the low 80s mid week!! All I have to say is It’s about time!! Maybe it’ll make its way out your way at long last. It’s a gorgeous day here today, clear blue sky, got the windows open to enjoy the fresh air. It’s nice to air out the apt.
      Take care.

      Hey DD
The doctor told Gary his kidney is fine- no more damage. That is all I really care about. he can’t afford to lose any more, as that one is the only one working, and it works at 75%. So, we are good. thank God.
He also said they did say he was slightly dehydrated, so the man needs to drink, no matter what. i am hoping this scared him enough to drink without me having to nag him about it.
Tomorrow they start him on solid foods, and move him into a regular room. If all goes well, home Tuesday. This is the second hospitalization in less than 8 weeks. I know he is disgusted. I bet he never eats a clam again. I also told him how he tells me I am nuts for disinfecting the entire sink and faucet, every time I prepare chicken. Now he knows why I do it.
I am so sorry you have such a high co-pay for the cardiac rehab. I will add a prayer for them to approve your going. I bet you will win on appeal, if you do i one. I am appealing a 48.50 co-pay for one of the meds for the UTI I have- the pyridium. It is crazy. I think you can ask your doctor to help with the insurance company- please call them and ask if they can.
I am still curious to know if they have seen any more people sick like Gary. I do remember the ER nurse said they had a couple of people the day before with a similar virus. I wonder if they ate there too, as it is too coincidental.
Bobby is going by there tomorrow night, on his way home, to talk to the owner, and give them a heads up. We all like the restaurant, and do not want to have to stop going there. they may have hired a new kid who is not careful with the food. You never know. We have been going there for over 20 years. Never an issue, ever.
hope our night is good- I am off to the recliner…..
      Adele

      Hi Adele,
Glad to hear Gary is doing better. I thought he had a scare similar to this before & the Dr. told him to drink more water. I know I should. I wonder if he’ll do better this time??!
I do have an appt. with my cardiologist Tues., so I’ll be able to talk to him about the situation with the insurance. I’m getting ahold of the insurance guy tomorrow. I’ll keep ya posted.
I’m glad to hear Bobby will be going to talk to the owner. Honestly, I don’t believe they know about it. I just hope he won’t be hostile with them.
I guess that’s all for tonight.
      Have a better week.

      Hi Adele,
Thank God that they have figured out what was wrong with Gary. He may have salmonella poisoning but he also was dehydrated. So you were right that he needs to drink more water. That must have been really scary when they could not figure out what it was at first. You need a vacation after all the things that you have been thru her lately. It has been pretty rough around there with Gary being sick. Hopefully they will get rid of that poisoning soon and he will be back to his old self. Well maybe not his old self one that drinks water and eats like he is supposed to.
That is nice that Bobby is going to the restaurant and letting them know about the poisoning so they can check and make sure that it is not anything that is still in the restaurant. They sure do not want anyone else to get sick. It is nice to hear it from Bobby then to have the health go in there and close them down to do an inspection.
Rest while you can. Try to get a lot of sleep. Did you get rid of your UTI? I hope so. You need to be feeling good also. Well that is all from here have a good night.

      Hi DD,
The new scents of Philosophy must have sold out really quick. I ordered the Hula one and it is on wait list also. I have some Philosophy in the shower and a bottle under the sink so will have enough to last me for a while. Those bottles last a long time and that makes it worth the money. Do use it to wash your hair? I have never tried that I just use it to shower with.
That is terrible that your insurance is making you pay such a high co pay. I agree with Adele talk to your doctor and see if he can help you and it is a good idea to talk to the insurance company. You really have to fight anymore to get what you need. They just do not want to pay for anything anymore.
Will be praying that you get more help so you can continue going to cardio rehab.

      Hi Everyone,
Well we are finally getting weather in the 50’s and 60’s. It’s been a long time coming.
Adele, I’m glad that Gary is doing better. I did some reading on salmonella and if he was throwing up or having diarrhea that could well account for the dehydration. Also they never mentioned it coming from clams-did anyone say specifically that it came from that? They talked more about it coming from meat, poultry and eggs. Also older people and people with certain medical conditions and low immune systems are more susceptible and get worse symptoms. In any case I’m glad that he is on the mend and i hope you are feeling calmer too. Nothing like a scare like that to get the blood flowing. You guys need a break and some peacefulness and relaxation in your lives.
DD I hope you can get that cardio rehab paid for. Honestly, sometimes insurance companies can be impossible. Like colleen said they just don’t want to pay for anything-after all the years we spend paying into them and not using it much when we are younger. We deserve to get what we need now that we are older!
I got into those two new philosophy scents early on and got them both. I will give the smaller bottles to Jenny as that 64 ounce bottle is huge! DD if you have not used the Fresh Cream before I hope you love it as much as I do. I get so many compliments on that. The only thing that makes me sad about philosophy is that since Christina sold the company to Coty the perfumes no longer have the staying power that they used to. I always wore Amazing Grace and Pure Grace and you could always smell it all day and even the lingering effects in your clothes-but not anymore-it fades very quickly now. I once had a woman chase me around a museum to ask what I was wearing when i had on Amazing Grace. lol Tova used to be the same way. sometimes I could still smell it on my clothes even after they were washed.
Colleen, how is your Mom doing? I had an email from Brent this morning and they are still trying to get the right meds for his stomach and his irregular heartbeat has gotten worse so they really need to do something about that soon. He is getting kind of depressed about all the doctor visits and the money that it is costing in copays. That can really add up so he is working a lot of hours too. Sometimes i wish I could go out there and knock heads together and finally get something done. It’s frustrating for me-so i can only imagine how he feels. I need to talk to him and tell him to hang in there!

      Hi DD
Well, the stress got to me, and I was in the bathroom all night long. did not get too much sleep. Better this morning. just tired from lack of sleep.
I can’t imagine Bobby being nasty to them, as they are his go to place, when he does not like what I have for dinner….which is about 3 times a week….LOL he knows the old owner, new owner, and the manager. he walks in, and they say….”your regular tonight?” the hospital said Gary was the only one who was sick form there this weekend. Everyone is shocked, as lots of people go there. I wonder if because Gary has all his issues, if he was more susceptible to the bacteria. they always say people who already have medical issues do worst with all forms of bacterial things.
I hope you get a good answer from the insurance company. My form came today, to appeal the medication for the UTI, whihc was not covered. Ill let u you know if they do pay me back.
It is really a pain that we always have to advocate for ourselves with the medical community.
The sun is shining here gain today…yahoo!!
The carpenter is here, and I asked him nicely if he can get our new flag pole up, and the flag out. I do not think Gary will be doing anything when he gets home, and I miss the flag out there.
Amanda called and is going to the hospital to see Gary today, and then coming by here. It is Bobby’s birthday. We will do the celebration next weekend. I told him to bring some goodie home today, as he needs something to celebrate.
It was a night mare here this am getting everything done for the deliveries of the day. Many calls back and forth to Gary, as he has a bizarre way of doing the pricing. We are hoping he will be home tomorrow.
      Have a good day!!

      Hi Colleen
Read my post to Dd for the current info of the day.
I am really pooped, as i was in the bathroom all night. All I ate yesterday was my half bagel, with cream cheese, and an egg, with coffee and OJ. Last night I had a salad with a tomato, iceberg lettuce, slices of ham, and some grated parm cheese, with vinaigrette dressing. nothing that would have made anyone ill. I am sure it is the stress.
I have one more day on the antibiotic. All the pain is gone from the UTI. I am drinking more water, and just had a juice bar for more fluids.
I have the chew on. I missed a few last week, as they were all repeats. Have you watched them lately?
How are Mandy and the girls doing? Ron? Your Mom? I hope she is getting better every day. I ahve been adding a prayer for her.
Hope your day is good, and the sun is shining.

      Hey Gailster
Yes, the hospital doctor said it was the clams. the weird thing is, he had no vomiting or diarrhea before the fall in the bathroom. The diarrhea started in the ER. I think that is why they said he was already dehydrated. I bet that did not help at all. I feel the same way, I think because he was already compromised, it happened. The rest of us had different dishes, so nobody else got sick. this whole thing has been weird. I am still shocked at the 50/17 blood pressure. I hope that never happens again.
they have him off all tubes plugs, and IV’s today. they are giving him lasix, as he is all bloated from all the fluids they pumped in. He is to be moved to a regular room today, and then (hopefully) home tomorrow, as long as nothing else happens.
That is awful about Brent. I feel so bad for him. I know what Gary goes through, and at Brent’s age it is just too much to deal with. We are all praying they will finally get his is meds right. You must be so worried about him, and I do not blame you at all.
The sun is bright today, but it is chilly. That is fine, as the sun looks so good.
Amanda the Panda is going to the hospital, and then coming here. I have to stay here, due to the carpenter outside, and the business. Heather and Frankie are off to do their routes. They left very late, as it is difficult to do the pricing with Gary not around.
Hope your day is going good, and the sun is shining for you.

      Hi Ladies,
It’s not looking good for me & the cardio rehab, & the insurance. It doesn’t look like they’re willing to work with me. I see the cardiologist tomorrow & I’ll see what he has to say about it.
Adele, did you use romaine lettuce in your salad? There’s been a national alert about romaine lettuce from Arizona. I heard they recalled it or destroyed it. Restaurants, etc, were told to throw out all their lettuce as there’s no way of knowing where it came from. People were getting sick all over the country.
Be sure to drink lots of water after your bad night. I’m sorry you had such a bad time! I hope Gary is better & will do what he’s supposed to do!!

      Gail,
I’m sorry to hear about Brent. I don’t understand why the Dr. can’t come up with the right meds for him. I pray they come up with something real soon, so he won’t be in so much pain.
Well, it looks like we’re getting a taste of summer this week. The temps will be heading up into the low to mid 80s for a couple days or so, but cooler weather returns by the weekend. I hope you guys are having warmer weather where you are. It’s almost May for goodness sakes!!
I can’t wait to get the philosophy! the two new fragrances did sell out quickly. by the time I got up the next day they were already on the waitlist. Gail, I got a chuckle out of your story about being chased around a museum to find out what you were wearing.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight..

DD it was nice here for a couple of days but not 80 we were in the 60’s & it felt so good. Now we are back to cooler50’s dark dreary & raining for a few days. But the grass is green & trees are starting to bud so we may get there.
Sorry you are having trouble with insurance. I just got a $600 bill after my colonoscopy I fought that one and won. But after my knee replacement surgery I had to pay a co pay for my therapy when I went as an outpatient. Sometimes you need to cut something you want to take care of your health. I know that is why we have insurance but sometimes we still have to pay & I fear it is going to get worse. People are struggling to get the care they need.
We had the lettuce recall. There was no romaine on the shelves & bags of salad with romaine were pulled. All the empty spaces looked funny. They said to avoid leafy greens & that is what you are suppose to eat according to the doctor. We also had eggs recalled. Seems nothing is safe or good for you.

      DD,
I like the summer pics. It makes me think of days ahead. Gosh it’s been years since I had a snow cone.
Doesn’t it just bust your gut to think of some 25 year old sitting in an office deciding what procedures or therapy will be paid for. There is such a disconnect between the care we need and the care that we can afford. Very scary stuff. I hope that the cardiologist can help you out.
I think sometimes with those autoimmune diseases like ulcerative colitis sometimes it takes a while to find the right drug or combination of drugs to help a person and put them into remission. It can be the same way with RA. I just hope he gets relief soon as he is exhausted by all this.
Our weather is sunny and 60 so I am happy about that. Heck last week there was snow on the ground.

      Hi Adele,
I hope you are feeling better and Gary is on the way home.
I would imagine that the stress can make you sick-it doesn’t surprise me at all.
I had to get a new tablet as mine just doesn’t work the way it should anymore. I was trying to decide between and Ipad or another Samsung. I decided to go with the Samsung as I hope there is a way to transfer my games over and keep my progress in them. I will be glad to get it as it has not been working right for a year and has little battery life left and shuts itself off for no reason. I guess i just wore it out. lol
Lachlan has his spring program tonight. Little league and softball practice has already started for the kids. Last week they had to practice in the gym because of the snow still on the ground. I think Jenny said between Piper and Lachlan there are games practically every day of the week. Some of the late games that the boys play aren’t over until ten. Greg and I only go to the early games as Greg’s bedtime is nine. lol that’s bad when your grandkids can stay up later than you. lol

The lettuce I have is iceberg, so that was not it. Unless they say at a later time it is the iceberg too.
You would laugh….I had water, OJ, tea, and a frozen fruit bar, all before noontime.
I hope you do get some good news from your heart doctor. This just stinks. I hate that the insurance companies dictate what is and is not good for us.
I love the pictures you post. The sunnier the better!
I am praying you get the news you need- that the doctor can do something to make the insurance company pay for the cardiac rehab. Go DD!!

      Hey Sue!
Our weather has been a lot better too. I even had the back door screen down today, with the awning out, until the wind picked up. Then, I had to shut the windows and door, as the sea breeze was quite chilly.
There are a lot of insurance providers that have huge co-pays for testing. I had wanted to switch my insurance, and my doctor advised against it, because mine does not have prior approvals for testing. Those are even worst. Just this year, they took away the co-pays for the testing. But, the medications are more, and the co-pays for the office visits.
I am like you. I did an appeal on one of the meds for the UTI, s they covered nothing. I will hear in about a month or so. My arthritis med has a 75.00 co-pay.
I am getting rain tomorrow. I bet you will have it before we get it.
Gary is still in the hospital. he may come home Thursday. I would be shocked if it were tomorrow, as that has not been discussed. he said they are finding more and more bruises on his body. I knew more would show up as he was really wedged in there and it had to have made seem bruising, than just on his face.
      Have a good night!
      Adele.

      Hey Gail
Gary is on the mend, but they are saying he will be there until Thursday. They are working on changing meds. they say some of the heart meds make the blood pressure go lower, and he does not have high blood pressure. I do…..LOL
I know for sure stress does a number on all of us. When I had the diverticulitis, I never ate what I was not surprised to eat, and I still got attacks. When I was in the hospital, and diagnosed, and said where I worked the nurse said she was surprised it took me so long to get there….LOL Stress kills us all, slowly but surely…… God help and save us.
So there is a Roseanne marathon on tonight. I may watch a few episodes as I do need to laugh. Seems like nothing else that is funny will be on tonight. I am pooped from helping Heather and Frankie with all the paperwork for the business. I have developed a new “Gary proof” system for pricing. It is tkaing a lot of time to set up, but, once it is done, it will be easy for the next time he is not here.
hope your night is goign well!

      Hi Gail,
I can imagine that you are really tired of all the cold weather. We have been having a lot of cold weather but not snow so now we are ready for the warm up. If it does not warm up soon we may never get any plants in the ground. We usually have our zucchini and tomatoes planted and they are starting to grow. It is just a crazy year for weather this year already. It will be nice for you to see the green grass and buds on the trees. Hope that it comes soon.
I did not know that Christine sold the company to Coty. That is a shame because everyone really loves it. You were one of the lucky ones that got the fragrances early enough to get both.I only but the one on wait list because I do not know if I will even get that one. I do really like Philosophy. I got the cream when they had that deal on the two big bottles for a sale price. It was really nice because it lasted for a long time. I cannot wait to get the hula girl and see what it smells like. It is a shame that the scent does not last as long as it use to.
Mom is doing pretty good. She is staying by herself for the first time tomorrow. She said that she is going to read a book and just lay around all day. After this week I will go to her house every Wednesday. Then she will have some one there in the middle of the week and someone else on the week-ends, I am not sure when my oldest sister will come to her house. She is in her late 70″s and does not like to drive when it is dark. So do not know when she will come. It will not matter though. We understand why she does not come that often.
That is terrible that they have not figured that all out for Brent. With all the working and being worried about paying all the copays and working all the extra hours probably are not helping him. These doctors need to get their acts together and get his meds right and get him taken care of. He will be in my prayers.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele’
I am glad that they have figured out what was going on with Gary. It will be nice when he gets to come home and you can take care of him or at least be with him. I hope that you are taking care of yourself and resting while he is in the hospital. You have to take care of yourself and not let yourself get run down.
I dvr the Chew everyday. I really like to watch them. I dvr the reruns also because of the days that they are interrupted for news bulletins and weather advisories. That way we get to see what we missed. They have had some really good food on there for a while now. I am not sure that I like what Micheal did with the fish though. I am not a fish eater. The shrimp sounded better but then the guest was allergic to shell fish. So that would not have worked. Usually like what he makes because he does not use that many ingredients and it is something that I will make.
I hope that the insurance will pay for your prescription. That really just aggravates me when they don’t. We sure have paid enough for us to have the insurance. Pretty soon it will be cheaper to save our money and pay for things ourselves. All we can do is just hang in there and do our best.
I wonder if Gary was the only one or if no one else said anything. They may have just go sick and could take care of it at home. A lot of people can take care of that at home. Gary just has been sick so it hit him harder then some other people.
Everybody here is doing fine. Mom is doing really well also. She has a visiting nurse that comes to the house and therapy. They are doing some exercises to strengthen her legs and arms again after the stroke. So it will be a job for her to build up her strength again.
I hope that they get all of Gary’s meds figured out and he will be okay. It seems like the doctors have a hard time figuring out the meds for a lot of people.I just hope that they get it right.
well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi DD,
I am so glad that you are getting some nice weather. At least one of us are getting the nice weather. It is still cold here but they say that next week it will be in the 70’s. That will be nice. I am ready for spring.
I tried to order the Hula Girl Philosophy but could not get it either. It is on wait list. I guess you had to be really quick to get it. It really went fast. I just hope that they get it back in stock soon. I really would like to try it. The coconut probably smells really good also but did not order that one. Maybe will get that one later.
Your summer pictures are so pretty. It is nice to think of summer actually coming soon. This has been a long winter. I will be glad when it is over.
Do not give up on getting help with the cardio rehab. I know that sometimes that it is hard to come up with the money for something like that. The doctor may come up with another idea and you will be able to keep going. Will be praying that the doctor thinks of something to help you.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen

Guess who is home??????? He is in the shower disinfecting himself from the hospital stay….LOL They took 4 meds away, and gave him one back, with a much lesser dose. Heather is picking it up at the drug store for us, on her way back.
He looks kind of weak. Doe snot walk well. I know that is from the lack of movement in the hospital. I do no know what to feed him tonight, as I do not want to stress out his system right now. the doctor told him he can eat anything. I am just not sure of that, as I do no gnat him to have a belly ache.
I think he may have gotten sick because he is already compromised. I feel the same way you do. Other people may have been sick, but not to the point Gary was.
He is in the shower right now. As I say….disinfecting himself from the hospital….LOL
I am so glad your Mom is getting better. I bet you will all be nervous on the days nobody goes there. that is natural, in the beginning. When Gary goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I will be hysterical….LOL
It is pouring up here. he got home just before it started. I am glad he got home before it poured.
      Hope everyone there is ok.

      Hi Adele,
I am glad that Gary is back home again. I am with you on feeding him something lite. He does not need anything heavy on his stomach after all of that. I just hope that he will continue to drink a lot of water. That will help him a lot and he will not get dehydrated. That is nice that they changed his medicine for him and he will not have that problem with his blood pressure falling that much. When does he go back to see his regular doctor? Just to check and make sure that they did not change his meds too much.
Mom stayed by herself today. I called her this evening to see how she did. She said that she did fine and got a lot of rest. So that was good and she will be fine by herself for the rest of the week. Home health is supposed to come in tomorrow and see how she is doing. They are only coming for this week and then they are quitting. I was really upset to hear that. They need to give her some time and see how she does after a couple of weeks out of the hospital. Things sure have changed.
It is raining here tonight also. It is not storms so that is always good. I do not like storms. I think that it is supposed to rain all day tomorrow. Just hope that it does not get really cold again.
Not much else happening here. Have a good night and do not stress out with Gary being there. He will be okay or they would not have sent him home. That is what I keep telling myself about my mom.

      Hi Colleen,
We usually don’t plant until after Mother’s Day as we will still get a frost before then. This year it might have to be later. Plus Greg never started any plants indoors this year so we will have to buy them. That’s okay.
Gosh I am really a philosophy girl as it seems like I have been using the fragrances and the skin care forever. When people compliment me on my skin I always say it’s the fat and the Philosophy. lol
That will be nice that you will stay with your Mom on Wednesdays. It will be a chance to visit with her and do some of the things that she might need done around her house. How far of a drive is it for you? She is actually pretty amazing still living alone at her age. I’ll bet she is one strong feisty lady! I’ll bet she can still boss around you and your siblings. I can just sort of picture it in my mind. It sounds like even with the problem in her eye she can still read her books so that is a good thing. I know you will enjoy the Wednesdays that you spend together.
Thank you for the prayers for Brent. I hope he gets some relief soon.

      Hi Adele,
Glad to hear Gary is back home. I know you will be nervous now if he gets up to go to the bathroom in the night.
Wow! They really changed around a lot of his meds. I hope the changes will help him. I would imagine he would have to go back and see his doctor and be checked again some time soon after his release.
It’s a good thing you know what to do with the business when he is unavailable.
I will keep praying that he has a speedy recovery and is feeling well soon.
We went to see Lachlan’s spring program Tuesday night. The kids are so cute at that age. Some of them are kind of shy and some are really hams acting out the songs.
How are JJ’s rehearsals going? Can’t wait to see pics of him as the pirate. When will the show be?
We have sun today and a high of 60 so spring is coming slowly but surely. I imagine all the spring flowers will be late this year.

      Hi Colleen
I am so happy your Mom is good. Still praying to make sure she continues to improve. I know you must be worried about her, every day. So hard when our moms get old and things go wrong.
Last night was not easy. Gary was in and out of the bathroom a lot, and neither of us got a lot of sleep. I am very tired, and sore. Touch night with my neck, shoulder and back, as it was pouring all night long. The sun is out now, so that will improve things.
Gary has to get to the bathroom fats, even if he feels gas, as his bowels are a mess right now. It will take time to get back to normal. Hence all the running to the bathroom, just in case. Plus, he is still bleeding. They say that is normal, an it will lessen. He has not gone in quite a while this morning, so that is good. I am hoping we have a better night tonight.
Im pooped, so that is all I can wrote for today….LOL LOL

      Hey Gail
Please read my post to Colleen for the current info.
JJ got another part last night at practice, so he has 2 roles now. Nobody knows what the second one is….LOL LOL
Nobody knows the date of the show either- how funny is that?
Do you have any pics form Lachlan’s show last night? Does jenny have any on facebook- if she does, I will peek. I have not been on in a while. All i ahve done is wish people happy Birthday, and then off again.
How is Brent? Greg? You? By the way, did the piece of your hair grow back and fill in completely? I keep forgetting to ask about that.
Signing off quick today……. it is 70 here today. Imagine that?

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is fine. I’m fine. We’re having an early taste of summer this week. three days of 80 degrees now. actually mid 80s today.
We drop 30 degrees overnight tonight & rain returns. I had to start the AC today. It gets so stuffy & hot in here!!
Adele, I’m glad Gary’s back home. If he needs a bland diet for awhile, feed him oatmeal or cream of wheat. He’ll love that. LOL
Since when is bleeding normal? that doesn’t sound right to me, I hope he continues to recover. take care of yourself as well!!

Well, I’m still working on the rehab thing. They’re sending me paperwork to fill out to see if I qualify for financial help. I talked to the Dr. & even he thought that was expensive. I’ll keep ya posted.

Isn’t that something after 4 decades they finally caught that serial killer/rapist in Ca.!! And he was a former cop!!! When HLN started the series about him, I was hoping someone or something would lead the authorities to him. I wondered how he was able to cover up his deeds for as long as he did.
And today Bill Cosby found guilty was a surprise. I thought it’d be another hung jury, or found not guilty.
We lost another resident this week, altho I’m not sure who she was. I was told she’d had a heart valve replaced last week, & was doing well then a sudden turn & she passed away Monday. they don’t know what happened yet.
Well, that’s about all for now.
      take care.

I am so sorry that I am so behind on everyones news. First, let me say that my prayers are with all of you on your recent illnesses in your families and for you DD on having such a hard time getting everything in order for your rehab. I know you must have been absolutely paralyed with fear for Gary Adele. It is no wonder you could hardly speak. When something scares us badly we have a HUGE rush of adrenaline that pumps through our body and causes us to have a fast heartbeat, hard to breathe, hard to move and then a little while afterwards you get just the opposite, your body becomes limp and lifeless because now your oxygen level has been depleted and your blood sugar has dropped. Poor Gary. Are they for sure it was the osyters? Has he ever eaten them before? I am sure he has, and of course it could have been salmonella, but there is a virus called Rotovirus that you can pick up literally anywhere, by touching any item that someone who has it has touched, and it has very similar symptoms as he had, Have you all ever considered his wearing a medical alert bracelet that lets any first responder know that he has only one kidney, and it on medicines that affect his life. Just a thought; because I can remember hearing Jerry telling the docs what Meds I was taking when I had my stroke, and I couldn’t speak, and he was telling them some of them wrong, and there was nothing I could do at the time since all I could do was hear but nothing else. Very very scary. So after that happened I made a list of my medicines and made him put it in his billfold in a zippered area; so he will have it all the time, and I keep a list of his medicines with me in my billfold at all times as well now. I am shocked his BP could be that low and they did not have to put him on a breathing tube. I know they pumped tons of IV fluids in him to bolster his BP up to an acceptable level. Thank goodness he is okay. You all have been though so much. Please please take care of yourself. I am worried about you.
Colleen, so happy to hear your Mom is doing better. It is such a blessing you live close enough to go be with her on Wednesdays. Does she have any weaknesses in her arms or legs? It will really help her to do the PT. You have to really get on them to have them continue to come and give her the exercises, but put up a stink if you need too. It is almost like you have to fight nowadays just to get them to take care of you. Medicine has changed so much in the last ten years or so, and we have gone through so many of the same problems you all are having with our medicines costing so much more and our insurance rates being increased but yet we are getting less and less care. I told Jerry one day that I feel like we at the age we are now are in the “disposable” age and medicine just doesn’t want to keep us around so we are having to fight to get what used to be done for people without any problems. It makes me sick that the doctor has to get permission to get a test done on someone when it is obviously needed and you know that the person who is deciding “yes or no” is like you said Gail, some 20 something who doesn’t know diddly about medicine or care what happens to us. Please, don’t get me going. Here I am trying to console everyone, and just making it worse.
Joey was very sick for over two weeks. I am so sorry that poor Brent is having so much trouble getting help. I ask Joey one day how much of his check goes for his insurance and was shocked when he told me. They work and work, and then it is just taken away from them. The wedding is still on for July. I asked Lisa one day about a grooms cake and she said “my mother is doing everything, and she decided we are not doing a grooms cake” I really started to say something, but instead just cried after I went to bed. Jerry told me to say something, but I just feel so defeated.
On a sweeter note, our baby kisses the I Phone when we ask him to give us sugar. It melts our hearts. Neal just laughs. We have been kissing at the I Pad ever since he was a little baby, and now when we say “here comes sugar” he will kiss us back.
Sue, hope you are finally getting some decent weather. I know Cuddles is tired of the cold. I bet she thinks spring will never come. Did you see the Quacker shirt with the paw prints on it? I thought about you.
I will close and hopefully get a chance to check back tomorrow. Have lots to catch you all up on; but it just pales in comparison to what you all have been going through. Love and Hugs from me to you. Barbara

      Hi Gail,
I forgot to ask about Lachlans concert. How did he do? I bet that he had a good time being up there with his friends. Does he like to sing or is he kind of shy when it comes to singing? It is fun to go and watch the young ones perform.
Have you picked any asparagus yet? We had three skinny pieces that we had to pick the other day. I was surprised that it came up as cold as it has been. I sure hope that we get more then that this year. We are planting plants this year also. We do not have the room to plant the seeds in the house this year. Kylie sleeps in the sun room and that is the place where Ron did the seeds. He is really kind of disappointed. He did rope off a place for the girls to plant a garden while they are here. They are ready to plant as soon as they can. I think that they will enjoy that. It will be interesting to see what they plant. Kylie does not like that many veggies and Brook likes everything.
It is a two to two and a half hour drive to my mom’s. I will just leave early in the morning and then leave after all the kids are out of school and at home to go back home. That way I will not have to get behind all the buses on the way home. I had to say something to her about doing the laundry. She did some yesterday and I told her not to do anymore until I am there. We can get that done and get the house cleaned. She is not supposed to be doing that much until the doctor says that she can. She will not listen though. She told me that she would not do anything until I got there and got things done. She is going to be a problem. She is too independent.
It is a shame that Brent does not live closer so you could go to the doctor with him. I just pray that they get him on the medicine that he needs to be on and he can start to live a regular life and not have to run to the doctor all the time.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I hope that Gary get rid of the diarrhea soon and you do not have to worry about him getting up in the night. It is scary when they first get home but he will be okay. Will keep praying for him that he can get back to his normal activities soon.
Adele you need to take care of yourself also. It will not do anyone any good if you get down in your back and shoulder. Just try and get some rest. Maybe you and Gary need to take a nap during the day so that way if he is up and down all night you will not lose so much sleep. There are times when naps are a good thing. Just take care of yourself.
How exciting for JJ that he got another part in the play. It will be interesting to hear what it is. He must really be excited to have two parts in the play. It is a shame that they do not tell you when the play is going to be. I hope that they figure that out soon. This play is going to be really cute with all the kids playing all the parts. I wonder if they will have a girl play Peter Pan. They always had a girl play it in the Broadway plays and in the movie. I am just so excited for him.
Well that is about all from here. Please take care and get a good night sleep.

      Hi DD,
I cannot believe that you have the air on and we still have the heaters on. That is really hot 80 degrees. We finally got up to 70 today and maybe that warm again tomorrow. I sure hope so we need the warmer weather now. We missed out on all the snow so we might as well have the warmer weather.
The reason it took them so long to catch him probably is because he is an x cop. He knew all the ways to stay safe and how to cover his tracks. I am glad that they caught him though and I hope that they put him in jail for life. I wonder why he did it. There had to be some type of reason that he did other then the fact that he must be crazy.
I do not know how I feel about Bill Cosby. My main question is why did they wait until he is so old and blind before bringing this charges. He does not have a good memory now either. I am not saying that he was guilty or not guilty but it bothers me. I do not know how he will survive in jail if he is blind.
I am sorry that you lost another person from you apartment building. That is just so sad. How is Kay doing? I hope that she is doing okay and you and her are able to spend some time together.
That picture of the couch with all the pillows and the brick wall makes me think of apartments in New York. They seem to have such nice balconies there and they usually have nice things on them so they can sit out there and eat or just have some coffee or tea.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night. I am still praying that they get you back into Cardio Rehab.

      Hi Barbara,
How cute that Colin will come to the screen of the phone and give you and Jerry a kiss. He sounds like such a sweet a baby. I know that you really miss him and cannot wait for them to come home so you can see him.
Mom does have a little weakness but they say that is from being in bed for 4 days. They said that the more she moves around the better that will be. So they are doing the exercises to keep her going. She does them on the days when they are not there also. I guess she really wants to get her strength back and not have to depend on us. The drive would not be bad if we had a good hwy to drive on. We have to go down curvy roads and that is a pain. We are going to keep them as long as we can. I hope that they will listen to us. If we all get together and tell them they may listen just because they would not want us all to come back again.
I think according to the government and the insurance we are disposable. We have out lived out usefulness. They sure like to charge us taxes on our land and everything else that we own. If they could they would like to get their hands on our retirement. I guess I better quit or I will be up on that soap box.
I hope that Joey is feeling better. Did he have the flu? That is one bad thing about working with the elderly they get sick and the really pass it around. I know that we really got sick when we worked in the nursing home. It was hard not to. We were with them all the time. Will say a prayer for him.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
No you weren’t making anything worse. You spoke the truth!! You’re so right about how bad our healthcare is nowadays. Was that virus you spoke of the one people catch on cruise ships? Where they have to sanitize the whole ship?
I’m so sorry your dil to be is such a pill. She has no tact. Big hug.
That’s so sweet about your itty bitty kissing the phone. I;m glad Neal does that for you.
I hope your news is good news. We all could use good news these days, with all the horrible news we hear every day.

OK ladies, I’m gonna ask, are any of you gonna watch the royal wedding? You won’t have to get up nearly as early as we will out here. I think it’s 8 hrs difference between London & here in the NW. It starts at 4 AM here. Altho, weddings never get started on time that I ever heard of. By the time I get up it’ll be all over with. there are people out here that are so excited for them. I think Harry is so cute. He’s just himself. He’ll never see the throne so he can just be natural.
I can feel the cooler air coming in now. It’s already 20 degrees cooler from earlier today. Relief. I knew it wouldn’t last very long. this time of yr it doesn’t.
I better get off here for tonight. Take care.

      Hi DD
I have my fingers crossed that you are able to get financial help for the cardio rehab. I know you would enjoy, and get, a lot from the program. I am in your corner! Go DD!!!
It was warm here yesterday, and today we are back to cooler rain. It is supposed to get better, and be in the 80’s next week.
I think they say the bleeding is normal, because they hooked him up to a drain kind of thing, like a catheter for the bowel. That was a thick tube, and I am sure it was not comfortable, nor free of internal scratches. They also said the colon has a lot of blood vessels, and it will take time to heal. Then add the digestive/bowel infection, and yuck.
I felt the same way when they said that. But it does make sense. They did blood tests and other testing on the bleeding, and is is deemed normal for what he had. Its weird, ahve to say that.
Sorry you lost another resident. It makes you feel awful, even when you do not knwo them. Also glad it was no your friend Kate or your other friends.
Hope you have a good night!

      Hey Barbara!
So glad to hear from you, and have your input. I read it to Gary, and , have to admit, cried as it is hard to remember all I saw that night. I would say i have PTSD. LOL….have to laugh or else.
They did do all kinds of blood work, CAT scans, Xrays, etc. but, who knows. That virus could have hid inside him.
That is awful that joey was sick that long. Wow! I know you were worried. i am also glad you and Jerry did not get it.
I think you did the right thing about not saying anything about the grooms cake. All you would need is for her to get her nose out of pint, and then more issues would arise. You deserve to have a great time at your son’s wedding 2ond party, and nothing can ruin that. (I thin you are still saying you are not going to the wedding, just the 2ond one at your home?)
That is so cute about Colin. How adorable he has learned to give you “video kisses”…..look, I invented a new term!
Gary was napping most of today. We got up at 6;30 as he was up, and that was that. So, I guess he is more tired today. Plus, it is pouring up here. He just took his shower, and has a hamburger coming for dinner. We are doing a simple take out- i am having a spinach calzone with mozzarella.
I hope you two have a good night!

      Hey DD, and everyone
I forgot to say. i am sick over Cosby. We all watched him, and wished our families could function like they do. Clair was our model working mother. I feel betrayed. How could he do such things, while pretending to be the Dad of America? I used to love his comedy routines too.

I do not think I would try to get up early for anything, as sleep has been an issue here. I am sure we will see pieces on the news, all day long. Plus, I bet they will repeat it.

      Our favorite is on tonight!

I hope Sue is ok, as we have not heard much from her this week.

      Hi Adele,
I can understand why Gary is bleeding if they had to put one of those tubes up in him. That is such a tender place to have a tube placed. He must have been really uncomfortable while he was in the hospital. That would be worse then the catheter. Does it seem like the bleeding has stopped now? I hope so I know that has to worry you even though they say that it is normal. I can understand why Gary is so tired also. I do not think that you get much rest in the hospital. Someone is constantly in your room wanting to do something. Just hope that he takes it easy for a few days and let’s himself heal and lets you get some rest also.
We are all doing fine here. i have to call mom tomorrow. I do not want to call her too much as she may be resting and I will wake her up. I think that my oldest sister calls her everyday so she would call if something was going wrong. She calls at the same time so we are trying not to mess up her regular schedule.
We have been having nice weather here. It has been warmer then it was for a long time. It may go from winter to summer. It is supposed to be in the 40’s tonight but then it will be in the 30’s on Sunday night. So there is not telling how warm it will be on Monday.
I missed Blue Bloods tonight. I will have to try and catch up on it. I wish they had a channel that would help you catch up on shows that you miss. I guess we will see it this summer on reruns.
You just take care of yourself. One day you need to have an Adele day. One day where you take care of Adele and just do something that you want to do. Everyone should be feeling better and you can take that day. Even if you do not leave the house. You can do some sewing or baking and not have anyone around to bother you. It would be better if you could get out of the house and just do something that you would like to do. Go with a friend and just forget about everything and laugh and not have a care.
Well that is all from here. Please take care of yourself and get some rest.

      Hi Colleen
Gary was better yesterday than the day before, and seems to be better today. There is no bleeding at all today, and we are both thrilled. Plus, the loose stool is getting less loose, so that is good too. he just sad that he feels better today, than he has in a long time. That is wonderful to hear.
Amanda came by this am, and brought the pricey Kane’s donuts. Gary was thrilled….LOL She stayed a while, and then I decided to do the cake for Bobby tomorrow. After all, it will be even more fresh when made on the same day.
I am still having trouble sleeping- I swear it is PTSD. I keep seeing Gary on the floor, and hearing the words of the ER doctor. It will pass. Takes time.
I do need an Adele day. Nancy is getting more mobile, and we may be able to do a lunch shortly. She had a quick recovery from the knee surgery. In 3 weeks, she was having outside PT.
I am glad your Mom is better. I am praying she stays that way for a long time. Tillie is ok. I did call to see if there was a different cream for her, as she hates the greasy feel of this one.
It is pretty here today too. Tomorrow will rain, but next week it will be in the 80’s.
You will like last night’s Blue Bloods. I won’t spoil it for you….LOL
      Adele
PS…found out JJ has a second pirate part. Now, he will be 2 different pirates.

      Hi Ladies,
Adele, I’m glad Gary’s feeling so much better now. and glad to hear the bleeding has stopped. Whatever it was it sure cleaned him out. Have you considered going to your Dr. to find out what’s going on with you? Maybe he/she could recommend something.
Well, the weather here turned on a dime yesterday. It was 86 Thurs. & dropped into the 50s yesterday. that’s spring in Oregon for ya. Whiplash weather. lol. Warm weather is due back next week.

Nothing on the Q today. Usually I have it on in the background just for noise.
Sounds like you guys have actors in training. Hope they all succeed in their pursuits. I bet they’re cute in their costumes.

I never was a big fan of Bill Cosby. I worked swing shift so I never did see the show. Back then we could only tape one show at a time.
I can’t think of anything else, so I’ll sign off for now.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

      Hi Adele,
I am so glad to hear that Gary is feeling better. That says a lot if he is feeling better then he has for awhile. That is good that the bleeding has stopped and he does not have the loose stools still. Sounds like he is on the mend.
It is hard to forget about him being on the bathroom floor and in such bad shape. I think as time goes on and it does not happen again you will start to relax at night and sleep better. That was pretty traumatic for you also. Just give yourself time to get over it. If you do not get over it soon I agree with DD you should go and talk to your doctor and see if he wants to give you something to help you sleep.
That was so nice that Amanda came over with the donuts for you and Gary. You have the most thoughtful grands. What kind of cake are you baking for Bobby. I know that you have told us what kind that he likes but I cannot remember what it was. You are such a good baker.
That is great that Nancy had a quick recovery from the knee surgery. That would be nice if you two could just go out and have lunch together. I am glad that you are going to do that and I hope that it happens real soon. You need a break.
I am glad that Tillie is better. Just hope that she will use that cream until everything is cleared up. How are the bed sores coming along? I hope that they have cleared up and she is not hurting as bad as she was. She just needs to get that all cleared up and get better.
That should be interesting to see him play two different pirates. I wonder how they will do that. He really wanted to be a pirate so it is nice that he will be two of them now.
We are supposed to have rain off and on next week. Mostly it will be sunshiny. We will be able to start to plant the garden and get things going.I cannot wait for the fresh veggies to grow.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I use to like to hear Bill Cosby when he did his comedy act. He was on a couple of good shows.I liked the one when he was a spy and his partner was Robert Culp. They were good in that.
We are all having such crazy weather. It was really warm here today and tonight it is going to get down in the 30’s. I just wish that it would make up its mind what it is going to do.
I hope that you are making progress on getting in the cardio rehab program again. There has to be away if the Doctor wants you to go. That is not right that the insurance can rule against the doctor.
QVC has been a little boring for the last couple of days. They just are not showing as many interesting shows as they usually do. I am curious to find out what the new format is going to be for the Quacker shows. Patrick Hoy had something about it on the facebook square on the bottom of the page. It should be interesting. It is supposed to start on the 6th of May.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hello Everyone,
It’s been kind of a quiet boring weekend at the Norusis household. We went out for fish on Friday night and other than that Greg has worked in the yard and I have read a book and took a three and a half hour nap yesterday. Exciting huh?
Adele, I’m glad to hear that Gary is doing better. And now JJ has two pirate parts. Good for him! Next thing you know he’ll be the new Johnny Depp! I too wondered if Peter Pan is a girl in this production. As to my hair-that underneath piece is only about three inches long now-it has another six or seven inches to grow before it catches up to the rest of my hair. So I’ve got a long wait.
DD I’m glad they caught that Golden State killer. I guess there was a lot of attention put back on the case because of a TV program and the book that recently came out about it too. He is a very very evil man if you read about some of the things that he has done. I also read that he stopped doing the crimes when police started using DNA evidence but thank goodness things have advanced so far now that they could use it to catch him anyway. As to Cosby I’m glad he was found guilty-drugging and taking advantage of women is pure cowardice. Unfortunately I’ll bet he’s not the only one guilty of doing stuff like that. You always used to hear about the Hollywood “casting couch” and I would bet there’s a lot of truth to that.
I will probably watch the royal wedding. For some reason I’m attracted to all the pomp and ceremony. It’s like real life Cinderella. Plus I love to see the outfits and the hats (fascinators).
I had to laugh at that one picture you posted of the pond and the ducks and the heron-it looks so serene-but when the heron comes to our pond we are out there chasing him away. They are not welcome here.
Barbara, Joey was sick for a long time. Did he have the flu? I guess you just have to drop the idea of the grooms cake and just plan your own get together and do whatever you want for that one. I’m glad that you’re getting video kisses from Colin now. That’s so cute!
You know i have no idea what pills Greg takes and what amounts and I’m sure he’s the same with me. I will have to get us to write them down and just have it on the fridge with a magnet. It’s funny-I knew exactly what my MIL took and how much and what they were for. Maybe because I had to list them so frequently.
Colleen, it’s been way too cold for asparagus yet. Everything will be later this year. Greg was rototilling today. He does like his new rototiller and lawn tractor. I saw a thing on a program this morning where a lady in England tells the future with asparagus. Don’t ask me how. lol
I didn’t realize your Mom lived quite that far away. Does she live more in towards Saint Louis or a different direction?
I liked that I Spy program with Bill Cosby too. That’s going way back. I had forgotten about that.
I wonder what the new format of the QF shows means too. How much can you change up a show that’s selling stuff. I guess we’ll see coming up this week.
Adele, did Bobby get his birthday cake? What did you make him? Greg’s birthday is the 9th but there will be no cake for him as he is dieting. I just couldn’t do what he does-cuts out all carbs and doesn’t eat any sweets at all. He has more will power than i will ever have. Of course I would have to lose four times what he needs to lose so just thinking about that is discouraging. I will just continue to be my marshmallow self and live with it.

Well I typed out a reply & somehow got kicked off the website so I will try again. Maybe someone is trying to tell me I am to boring go away.
I am thinking since the Quacker show is the garden party show the new format may be they are doing it outside. Just a guess & I may be wrong, in any case I do not get QVC2 so cannot watch anyway. May 10th they will have the TSV.
Gail my weekend was as exciting as yours. We are real party animals.
Maybe you can make Greg a cake using veggies with dip for icing or something with fruit. I am sure the party planner in you can come up with something.
I was glad Bill Cosby was found guilty. It is about time those that think they are above the law pay for their crimes. He could get up to 30 years but I am hearing he will get maybe 5 years. He should be behind bars now as anyone that could not afford bail would be.
I hope all the ill are doing better.

      Hi Gail,
It got exciting when you got to take a 3 1/2 hour nap. That is one thing that I am good at right now. I am a good nap taker. We bbqed to day and that was our big thing that we did. That was our first time to bbq this spring. It has just been too cold. Ron picked more asparagus today and it is just too spindly to do much with. We will have to get a lot before it will enough to eat. I hope that when yours come in it is better then ours has been.
We may watch the royal wedding if we remember that it is on. What day is it? I have forgotten already. They always have such pretty dresses on and all the people that are there are all dressed so nice. I wonder if Kate and William will be there since she just gave birth to the baby. That has to be so exciting for the other little ones that they have to have a new brother.
Here is my 2 cents on the Cosby case. I think that some of this should have come out sooner and not wait until he is a sick old man. I hope that he does not go to jail because of the expense it will be for the tax payers to take care of him. He is blind so that means they have to have someone with him at all times to take him around. He is sick so we will have to pay for his medicine and all that other things that he needs. So it may be too expensive for him to be taken care of. I think that he should have to wear one of those house arrest things on his ankle and not be able to take it off. Let him pay for his own care and not us. That would be harder on him then anything. He could not appear on tv or anything with that bracelet on. I am sure that his kids are so ashamed of him that it will be hard to have them around as a reminder.
Mom does not live close to any of us. She is about an hour away from my brother and the same from my sister. So it takes all of us a long time to get to her. That is one reason that she had to get that life alert thing. It would take us too long to get to her.
You should bake a cake for you on Greg’s birthday. Bake or buy one that you like and let him blow out the candles and you can dig in. Maybe have the grands over to share it with them. Then like Sue said give him some veggies and dip and let him eat that.
The out side thing does not make sense for what they were wearing. Patrick was in a tux and Angel is in a dress. That is not exactly what you would wear out in the garden. I do not know for sure but we will see.
Wednesday is our anniversary and we have to be at mom’s. That is my day help her. So we may have to celebrate later or earlier in the week. We are supposed to go out to dinner. So if we decide to go out on Wednesday we will eat somewhere close to where she lives on our way home.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a nap Olympics? Then we could compete and maybe even win! lol
Speaking of sports the new season of DWTS starts tonight.
I think the royal wedding is May 19th which I believe is a Friday. I think it’s actually really early in the morning because of the time difference but sometimes I am up anyway because of insomnia. If not there will be plenty of reporting of it on the Today show which i always watch. William will definitely be there as he is best man. I imagine Kate will be there too as George and Charlotte are in the wedding party and Kate would probably need to be there to wrangle them. I’m sure there would be a nanny or even her parents to watch the new baby. We tend to forget that they have lots of help at their disposal. At least i do.
Good idea-give Greg a cake and eat it myself! lol As if I’m not really the person who needs to be on the diet. But the thought of how much weight i would need to lose is so daunting that i just give up before i begin.
Happy Anniversary two days early. How many years? Maybe you could go out on the day and also on the weekend. I am a big believer in spreading out the celebration. lol

      Sue,
Yes we are real party animals. Maybe you would like to join the nap Olympics with me and Colleen. We could be world class nappers. lol We could compete for the gold medal in napping.
Speaking of sleeping. Greg got a hepa air filter for our bedroom because he has allergies and wakes up with a runny/stuffy nose. Well guess what? It’s actually a miracle machine! I swear since he put that in the bedroom he doesn’t keep me awake with his snoring. He’s so quiet now that i sometimes have to reach out and touch him to make sure he’s still there. I wish i knew about this before it could have saved me years of agony and teeth clenching as i listened to him snore sometimes with a pillow over my head. lol Plus it would have saved him a lot of kicks in the shins from me trying to stop the snoring. I keep praying that this isn’t some weird coincidence and that it really is a miracle machine worth a billion dollars to me. I hope it keeps working-knock wood-(my head).
I didn’t know that upcoming show was the garden party. Maybe it’s going to be a really fancy outdoor party or something. I guess we will find out when it happens.

      Hey DD
i was disappointed in ITKWD on Sunday too.
I have to get the blood work done for the thyroid test, to see if the med needs to be adjusted, due to the hair loss. I had to re-schedule the ortho appointment for the neck and shoulders, due to Gary coming home, and I did no want to leave him alone.
Did I tell you I slipped in the bathroom on Saturday? Pulled the towel rack right off the wall, as I used that to stop the fall. Hurt the neck, and have a black eye…..LOL The neck gt better Sunday, and the eye got more colorful.
So, I made a real mess yesterday. the first thing I did was spill an entire cup of coffee, all over the table, floor, chair, etc. What a mess, had to wet Swiffer the floor, as it was a mess. Then, when I did Bobby’s cake, I put in a tablespoon of salt, instead of a teaspoon. Added a little more sugar to disguise the error. After that, there was another screw up in the baking time. It was at the time, the cake tester came out clean, but it looked soft, so I let it stay in a few more minutes. When you take it out, you have to let it set in the pan for 5 minutes, no issue there. When I turned the layers over to cool on the rack, one of the layers had a big hole in the middle, from the batter not being cooked. too late to put it back in then, so I scooped out the middle and added white chocolate Lindt Truffles into the middle layer, before I frosted it. Soooooo, I called the cake, “Robin’s egg surprise cake”.
They ate it, as I only have one piece left….LOL LOL Ill attach a pic.
I was so disgusted with myself, you have no idea. then, i said…what the hell, and went with the flow.
I hope you have a better day than me. I am attaching a pic of the cake, with and without the pretty Temptations cover.

      hi Colleen
Please read my post to DD for the cake up-date. It is a simple vanilla cake, with vanilla buttercream frosting. Only, i made a mess of it this time….LOL I got this recipe from the Yankee Magazine- it was titled “Esther Foster’s celebration cake”.
I am so glad Gary/s digestive system has begin to heal. he did sleep better last night, and i only woke up once, so that is good too. I was pretty tired form them all being here, even though it was no work at all. I did a “Gail”. I used paper plates. the cake baking was a bit of a challenge, to say the least. Plus, the floor clean-up from the coffee spill. It is all in the post to DD.
JJ is excited. The boys were funny yesterday. At one point, Aizen was trying to get the better of JJ wrestling. JJ let him feel he beat him, and it even made Gary laugh.
Steph took a couple of cure pics with Bobby, and me, with Aizen. I lost the pics of me, and asked her to send them again. Ill post one, so you can all have a good chuckle.
It is raining here again. Seriously? the carpenter doing the repair on the wall left, as it is too muddy over there. He will be back tomorrow. I fear the repairs will never end. Oh well.
I wonder how Sue is, as we have no heard from her.
I forgot to say this on the Dd post. My doctor will check in with me, after the blood work is done- goign tomorrow or Wednesday for it, as Gary goes to the doctor on Wednesday, and it is right there.
Hope the sun is shining for you- how is your Mom?

      Hey Gail
Please read the posts to Dd and Colleen for all the weekend up-date. I made a mess, of everything. Still able to save it, as i got the floor cleaned, and the cake repaired. It was an amusing day, for sure.
Bobby did like the cake, and at it, “robin’s egg surprise” and all. I will post a pic of Bobby with Aizen that Steph took. I lost the pics of me, and asked Steph to re-send them.
Oh, I almost forgot! Steph said she will be going for her license before the permit expires. Thank God!
Wow, a 3 hour nap. you must have been really tired. Go Gailster!
How is Brent doing? I hope better. How is Greg’s diet going?
Hope the sun is out at your place. Not here.

So glad you posted, I was thinking about you!
I tried to load a pic twice, and it did not work. the one that loaded was the one where Aizen made a silly face.
I hope you get sun soon, as it comes up here next.
I should have napped yesterday, as I made a real mess in here before anyone got here.
I am with you. A 5 year sentence just does not make his crime as severe as it was. He deserves way more than that.
I think that is a fabulous idea for Gail to make a veggie cake. She has the talent, for sure.

      Hi Gail,
I missed the new dancing with the stars tonight. Will watch next week. Ron did not have a game on so he watched tv in the living room tonight. If there is a game on he will go in the bedroom and watch it so no one will bother him. He talks to his cousin while they watch the game together. He is another junk collector and so they talk about that mostly. Guy’s are strange sometimes.
I think that we could win the gold when it comes to taking naps. I do not think that there is one of us on here that does not take a nap. We are going back into childhood. We had to take naps when we were little and we need them now. lol We enjoy naps a lot more now then we use to though.
If I am awake I will watch the wedding. If not I may dvr it. They are long ceremonies so you will have to be ready to stay awake if you watch it live. That would really interfere with your nap. It will be better if it is on the dvr and you can watch it when you are wide awake. lol
We will have been married for 48 years. That is such a long time. What really seems strange my mom will be there for our 50th wedding anniversary. She just has to stay healthy. She is already about us having a big party. I think that she is going to talk to my girls to make sure that happens. She is funny.
If you do not feel like dieting then don’t. That is my feelings on it. If you diet when you do not want to then you just give up really quickly and it doesn’t do any good. So eat your cake and enjoy it and let Greg eat his veggies. I bet that you will be happier then he will be that is for sure.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I am glad that you are okay. That was not a good that you fell like that . You are lucky that you did not hurt your back. You may need another one of those bars outside of the tub so when you feel like you are going to fall you can grab on to it and it will stay in place. It is irritating when we fall.I have had a few myself.
That was a good save on the cake. It sounds really good and it looked really good. They must have not tasted the salt or noticed the mistake that was made. You are such a good baker and covered that up really well. I like the name that you gave the cake also. Robins egg surprise cake. So it was not as bad as you thought that it would be. Buttercream frosting is so good. I can see why everyone enjoyed it.
I am so glad that you two are sleeping better now. It will just keep getting better and better you will be back to regular sleeping patterns. You were smart to use the paper plates. I hope that you used plastic forks so you could throw them away also. Less work is better for you right now. You have to take care of yourself and Gary.
I like the picture of Gary and Aizen. Aizen had such a funny look on his face. They both looked very happy. She must have taken it after all of you had eaten. That is the best time to take pictures of everyone.
I hope that you get good news from you report from the doctor. I hate to wait for them to call back and let you know the results of tests. They never seem to be in a hurry to call and give them to you.
We have had a lot of sunshine around here. We are supposed to get some rain here on Thursday. That will be nice because we do not have to go anywhere on that day. Mom is doing really well. I have to go there on Wednesday and help her. Won’t spend the night though. Have no idea how long we will be there.
I hope that the rain stops soon and the carpenter will get the work done. This has been a long drug out ordeal. I can see why you will be glad to have it over with. Did you ever get your bird houses up?
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen
First let me say Happy Anniversary, if I did not do that already!!!
I watched DWTS last night. Not sure if I like all athletes on the show. Tillie did not.
Took the blood test today for the thyroid. I am really hoping my med needs to be adjusted, as that would be so simple. So, Gary came with me and stayed in the car. When I got back in the car he said…..boy, can you see how much hair you lost in the sun.” Good to know! Thanks, Ga.
I did some retail therapy on the Q today. I got 3 shirts, and 2 pants- the new cropped on in pink and white, so i can stick out like a sore thumb with the hair loss, and chubby bits….LOL LOL
You will not believe this one. the carpenter was here. At about 11:00 am, he comes in and says he hurt his neck, cannot finish, and goodbye. So, now I have to get someone to finish the job he started. I know people do not like to finish a job someone started, so this may end up costing me a lot more money. I have a call into one person I know, and am hoping he will stop by and look, and HOPEFULLY agree to finish the job.
Both Gary and I feel he really did not want to do the rock wall. He could have said that in the beginning. the words I wnat to say, cannot be printed here….LOL
Hope your day was better than mine…….sun is shining, and I am glad about that.

Adele, I am so sorry you fell. Thank God you were not badly hurt, but I bet you have been SO sore after the fall. You are under so much stress; I really feel that has a lot to do with your hair loss. Poor Gary, wouldn’t you just know he like any man would point out to you that you can see it more in sunlight? LOL Not too long ago my dearest said to me just out of the blue ” I can’t get over how thin your hair has gotten” and then nothing else. ha ha It just blurted out from no where, like oh year Barbara I have been meaning to insult you but have just thought of it and wanted to get it out before I forget it again. ha ha I just sat and looked across the room at him. So don’t feel like you’re alone. I think mabey your thyroid levels might be acting up too now along with the stress. I even had really leathery skin when I was finally diagnosed with low thyroid. And I barely had the strength to walk from one room to another. I was young then too so no telling how long I needed to be on thyroid meds. Gail, I was thinking of Brent too about thyroid, since if your thyroid is pumping out too much hormone, then you will have a fast heart rate, and even though you are eating, you lose a lot of weight and have diarhhea. But surely they have checked this out by now with all he has gone through. Hope he is better. Have they said it is ulcerative colitis? Still praying for you all.
By the way Gail, I considered “going on a diet” after seeing the flood of Jan/Feb TV things of I lost 50 pounds, 30 pounds and never felt better in my life that was being mind fed to me constantly, but if someone can and does lose weight; I am happy for them (unless of course due to sickness) but I am happy being fluffy, and I know me well enough to know that if I feel deprived, I get grouchy, and I don’t need to be more grouchy than I already am. Jerry is not a small man and I don’t even think of him in the terms of what he weighs, but we are sort of at a strange time of our lives. The finality of his back injury being forever setting in on him was so hard. I remember those many years ago when he was first injured that we had to see a phychiatrist as part of his rehab, and the doctor interviewing him and asking him how he felt about his injury and then after about an hour of talking with Jerry called me in and asked me how I felt about the life changing event that had happened to my husband, and how did I feel it was going to affect our lives for the duration? I know then and now that he really wanted me to say I was sad, mad, afraid, unsure, but I just couldn’t be truthful because I didn’t want to hurt Jerry, but I see more and more how he really didn’t think he couldn’t “beat this” somehow, and go back to his “before” time. Long way of saying, we all do things as wives, mothers, grandmothers etc. that I’m not sure helps, but we don’t want to hurt. So you do what feels right for you. It sounds like you and Gregg have so many wonderful times together, and that is all that really matters. After all, I have not ever met a Quacker that isn’t just beautiful no matter what the size.
I have also done some retail therapy this week. I went online and bought a Barbara King outdoor light that can be hung on your brick or it comes with a pole, It is item M57755 and I got the cabbage rose. I plan to hang it on the brick under the front porch so I can see it when we drive up the drive at night. I know Jerry will fuss, since I just got through “disposing” of several outdoor solar lights, but they lasted about 3-4 years in the weather, and I so enjoyed seeing them. I also ordered M56050 a solar lantern in the butterfly option. It comes with a shephards hook, so I can replace one of the ones that bit the dust. And Gail you know I had to get me some seersucker Quacker pedal pushers in charcoal grey. I have so many bright beautiful Quacker tops to wear with them. Item A200290, So he can fuss, and I will be silently singing in my head my Colin song “if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands” and thinking of my pumpkin ha ha.
Joey is finally better, and now Lisa is sick again. I think she went back to work too soon, and her immunity was down. I asked Joey to please ask her to stay home yesterday and today to give her body a chance to get better. I am still “party planning” by the way. WILL NOT BE IGNORED
Your cake idea was so good. You are so creative Adele. Yes, I am a napper too. Sometimes I will be sitting in my chair watching TV with Jerry and just go to sleep. It is so strange. By the way, happy anniversary Colleen. I am so happy you Mom is doing well. That is wonderful news. Glad Ms. TIllie is doing so well too. Your kitty looks so different with her haircut, DD. Does it keep her from getting hairballs? Our kitty has long hair too, and about once every 4 months or so he gets sick from licking all that long hair. I brush him, but he still gets lots of loose hair. Is Cuddles furry too Sue? Does he get brushed every day? I know some of our dogs love to be brushed and others don’t like it. It is so strange. Love everyones pictures. Children, grands, and fur babies along with all the great other pictures you all put on here. Really enjoy them all.
Well, I know you all must be tired of all my chatter, but wanted to check with everyone. It is a beautiful spring day here, but are looking for rain later in the week. Take care everyone. Hugs from Tenn. Barbara

      Hi Adele,
Thank you for the good wishes for our anniversary. We will go out Thursday night since I have to take care of mom tomorrow. We have been married for so long it does not matter what day we celebrate.
That was really nice of Gary to be so thoughtful and tell you about your hair. Men do not think before they speak. It is potato soup for him tomorrow. lol I hope that when they get your thyroid medicine fixed it will stop the hair loss. I do not know what will help with mine. I think that the only help for me is a wig.
You needed to have some Q therapy. I have not watched the show yet so have not bought anything. Are you putting this on Gary’s card since he made the remark and gave you the reason for needing the therapy. lol I ordered a top that I have wanted for a long time. It is the top with the different colored stripes on it and the lace over it. I got it in lavender. It is really pretty and now I am wishing that I would have bought it in the black also. That would look really classy. Wear that with a black skirt and could go anywhere in that outfit.
That is so aggravating when a person does that. He agreed to put the wall up and he should finish the job. I hope that this new man will do it and get it done fast for you.I do not understand why he took the job.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
It is good to hear from you. It have been a little while since we have. I am glad to hear that Joey is doing better and so is Jerry, I hope that Lisa will take your advice and stay home and take care of herself.
Diet is really a bad word. They always say that you should not go on a diet just cut down on what you are eating. If you say that you are going on a diet that it will make you want to eat more. Even when you are wanting to lose weight if you really crave some type of food that you should eat some it that food and then you will not crave it as bad. That is nice in theory but in realty if I eat something that I cannot have I will eat a lot of it. I will not just stop at a piece of cake I would have to have more. So who knows what the answer is. Just stay like we are and enjoy life.
You really bought some nice things off the q today. I did not watch today and have to watch the Quacker shows still. I have them on the dvr and will watch them after I get off of here. Hope I find something that I like also.
Thank you. We will not celebrate tomorrow we will wait until Thursday. Wednesday is my day to take care of my mom. I have to be there early so I can take out her garbage and sit in the room while she takes a shower.
I am glad that you are still planning to have a party for Joey and Lisa when they get back. You should have a bachelor cake for Joey if that is what you want to do. You are the one giving the party and whatever they do in California will not be the same as what you are going to do for them at your house.Just have fun with it.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Barbara
I am ok. The black eye us gone, and the hair is going with it….LOL The dam thyroid came back fine, and, frankly, I was very disappointed. I was hoping it was a simple solution of changing my thyroid med. Dam. I did notice one day when I used the leave on after shampoo conditioner, that my scalp got itchy, so I stopped using that. Also stopped another conditioner you use the regular way. I was hoping it was an allergic reaction. So far, he hair is still coming out. My derm appointment is next week, and I hope I do not have to cancel it. (the oil tank will e replaced some time next week- I am betting it is the day of the doctor apt.)
Still no luck on getting someone to finish the repair of the rock wall. As time passes, I am getting angry with the carpenter. Who does that? Start a project, have the home owner invest in 400.00 of rock, and quit? I really feel the “I hurt my back thing” was a rouse, as he came up and down the stairs, sat in the chair, and then realized he did not act like a person who hurt his back, and did this ….”ouch” when he got up. Seriously? I will never call him again for any type of job.
Gary is ok. He went to his doctor yesterday, who would like his blood pressure up a little more. he told him that being so tired is part of it, and he will get better eventually.
It is going to be 90 here today. It was 90 yesterday too. We literally went from the heat on, to the air conditioner.
Gary wants to hire Frankie tomorrow to get outside ready for summer- take off furniture covers, arrange the furniture, make sure the bird feeders are back up nice and straight from the winter, put up the bird houses, get out the bird food, etc. I hope we can get it done. Frankie is good at helping, and that is great.
      how has your weather been?
I hope Lisa does take the day off. that is awful that she is still sick. A lot of people up here have been ill with a belly thing. Lots of Gary’s customers have been sick.
You are so right. Our hubby’s think they will be back to what they used to be, and then the shock sets in. Their self esteem goes in the toilet, and they feel “less than”. I think it is harder for men to come to the realization they just do not have the strength they had when they were young. I know Gary has a real hard time with that. This getting older is for the brave. LOL
I hope you got to face time little Colin again. He is so cute.
Always, always, good to hear from you!!!!

      Hi Colleen
I still have nobody to finish the wall. My next door neighbor is checking to see if any of the firemen he works with do that kind of work. After that, I have a couple more leads, but, so far nobody. I can’t tell you how ticked off I am. I would just like this repair to have an ending.
I think Gary should have potato soup for a while….LOL
I got the news yesterday, nothing is wrong with the thyroid. I am on a med for thyroid, and I was hoping it needed to be changed. that would have been so simple. Next week is the appointment with the dermatologist, so I will know what his opinion is. In the meantime, I have been eating more protein, as I know protein is good for hair.
I ordered that top with the lace in black. The other one was the pink one that matched with the pink pants.
It is hot here, and was hot yesterday. It will hit 90 today, and did so yesterday too. I went from the heat to the air conditioner in one day. Crazy!
I hope everyone is good at your place, and that you had a good time with your Mom yesterday.
      Adele
