CHOCOLATE CHIP APPLESAUCE CAKE

INGREDIENTS:

1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup shortening or vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 cups applesauce
2 cups flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ to 2 teaspoons cinnamon (to taste)
2 tablespoons cocoa (heaping if desired)
2 tablespoons of granulated or brown sugar
½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 cup chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cream together—
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup shortening or vegetable oil
2 eggs

ADD:-
2 cups applesauce

SIFT TOGETHER AND ADD:
2 cups flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ to 2 teaspoons cinnamon (to taste)
2 tablespoons cocoa (heaping if desired)

Prepare 13” X 9” pan—with baking spray
Pour in batter.  Sprinkle with- 2 tablespoons of granulated or brown sugar
½ cup chopped nuts (optional) and 1 cup chocolate chips
 
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
