Barbara (Smith) is the “Quacker Cop” you’ve heard Jeanne talk about for years. She’s also Jeanne’s good friend and traveling companion. Barbara will be sharing her observations and experiences in a regular feature on our website. Enjoy!

The early months of 2011 have passed by so quickly...hard to imagine it was already May. Jeanne and I flew up to Pennsylvania Wednesday, April 6th. We left warm, sunny Florida heading to Pennsylvania with spring in our Hearts. After a pleasant flight, we drove to the Desmond Hotel looking for flower buds peeking through the ground. We were able to find a few, a good sign even Pennsylvania was over the cold winter.

We were greeted with smiles as we arrived at the Hotel. The Desmond had become our "Home away from Home", and we were happy to be back. As our bags were taken to our rooms, Jeanne and I made our way to our favorite table in the Pub. We started the evening with cocktails. Friends, Sandy and Gary, joined us for dinner. We talked and laughed, as we had the opportunity to catch up on what was going on in the West Chester area.

The evening ended with unpacking and getting ready for bed. The night quickly turned to morning and we were off to QVC. Jeanne's show with Jacque was scheduled for 1pm. We always arrived early, giving Jeanne time to meet with Angel to have her makeup applied. The Green Room is so much fun as everyone stops by to see Jeanne. She has been at QVC so many years, making many, many friends along the way. The show was a really fun show. Nick, the Chef at QVC, did an amazing job making up a table of food and snacks for us during the show. Jeanne says she wants everyone to feel like we all are in her home during the show, so having food out is what she would do at her house. This day, the table had lobster tails on a stick wrapped with bacon, petite Philly cheese steaks, and cannolis. The food was surrounded with of bowls of delicious Easter candy. Jeanne has such a "knack" for entertaining. Big smiles were on the faces of all the models, QVC crew, and definitely me. I absolutely loved the lobster and might have helped myself to at least one or two. The show really turned out to be a "hit". What a great combination...Girlfriends, Quacker clothes, and delicious food!

Our trip to Pennsylvania was a short one. We were back in South Florida Friday, early in the afternoon. I headed back home, as I had to work at the Police Department Monday morning. I spoke to Jeanne several times during the week. She just was not feeling well. The Doctor advised her to rest and not go on any airplane. Sadly, Jeanne agreed, and decided to follow his advise canceling the trip. I decided to go to Boca for the weekend and spend time with Jeanne. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner Saturday night and spent Sunday playing cards. Just love getting time for some "Girl Talk". After the weekend, I returned to West Melbourne for a busy week of crime. I have been a Police Detective for over 40 years.... and finally have made the decision to retire on June 9th. I know there is a new chapter of my life just waiting for me to jump in.

Easter Sunday, my son Brian and I returned to Boca Raton for a wonderful celebration with Jeanne and her family at the Del Ray Beach Club. Loved seeing the ocean as we enjoyed our Easter Dinner. Such a fun evening with plenty of love and laughs.

Happily, May has arrived. Love this month, as my Birthday is on the 31st. I have learned from Jeanne...."a Birthday Celebration should last the entire month".... so my celebration has already begun... Love having a Birthday...

Looking forward to the end of the month, when Jeanne has a Today's Special Value on May 27th. Happily it will be travel time for us.... Looking forward to being On The Road Again...

(Please let me hear from you: email me at barbara@quackerfactory.com.) I love hearing from others Quackers! With Hugs and Love, Barbara (Quacker Cop)

P.S. Hi- I would love to add something to Barb’s story---

Each year Susan and her people come to Florida to sample shop in my area. Last week, Susan and 5 others came to work here with me for the whole week. On Sunday night, I had a big dinner party for all of us. They all wanted to know if Barb was coming and I said, “ Oh- I’m sorry, she is on call for her real job.” Being a cop- No way can she come. They were all very sad to hear that.

We’ll, Sunday night at 6PM, guess who walked in the door--- Barbara the Quacker Cop and everyone cheered! She surprised us all. What a great Quacker. Wearing a Heart tee and Heart crop pants- Quite a vision!

We ate dinner and she got back in her car and drove the 2 and ½ hours home. That’s 5 hours of love! Two of her fellow officers filled in for her so she could come for a few hours- that’s a lot of love for Quackers. We really are all one Big Happy Family – and Thanks to the guys at West Melbourne Police Department- we got to play with one of our family members- Barb- the Quacker Cop.

We love you Guys

Jeanne
