Quacky Crafty Greetings

It’s officially summer!!!  June is finally here.  June is a month in which we celebrate our fathers.  This month I will show you how to make a Father’s Day card and give you some ideas and hints for making cards for men.  Men’s cards are usually a little more tailored than women’s cards, but the sky is the limit.

I always try to find out what the person likes who I am making the card for.  What their hobbies are, colors they like, and other interests.  I take pictures of golf clubs and shoes, pets, important sites, boats, baseball, and anything that looks interesting.

For the card you will need the following materials:
  • Cardstock
  • Patterned Paper
  • Photo
  • Pen or Stamp
  • Paper Ribbon

Cut a piece of cardstock to 5 ½” by 8 ½” and fold to a card of 5 ½” by 4 ¼”.Cut a frame out of your patterned paper.Cut your photo and glue it to the frame and then glue the frame to the front of the card.  (below)

Make a paper ribbon (directions to follow) and glue it to the card.Cut a piece of paper, put a sentiment on it and glue it to the inside or outside of the card.

Making a Paper Ribbon

1. Cut 4 strips of paper 4”, 3”, 2”, and 1”. Cut a “v” on each end of the 4” strip
2.  Glue the 3” and 2” strips into circles.
3.  Glue the 3” circle onto the middle of the 4” strip.  Glue the 2” circle on top and in the middle of the 3” strip.  Find the middle of the 2” circle and wrap the 1” strip around the middle of all the strips and glue it together.

I took a few pictures of cards I have made in the past.

You can use all kinds of materials to make cards.  I’ve made them using old maps, dictionary pages, paper bags, wrapping paper, travel brochures, comic pages, magazine pages, golf score pads and anything that reminds you of the person you are making the card for.

Have fun making your cards.  Be creative.  It always is a way for me to unwind when I come home from work.  Please send me pictures of your creations; I would love to see them.  Make cards for everyone.

Happy Summer!!!
