Atlanta Gallery

A few weeks ago Tim, Rick and I spent four days in Atlanta doing the gift show. I was working in the Gib Carson Showroom and met two of the kindest and sweetest people I have met in a long time. Gail runs the food that is being served throughout the show. Oh my, it was wonderful. Much of it was just order ed from catering but a few of the recipes were her personal ones. This is what makes the food in this showroom “more special” than anywhere else. I believe it is the love she has put into it. I would hear people come in and say “Gail, when are you serving the pineapple stuff or the monkey bread?” Gail would give them a time and they would answer back to her “ I’ll be back to place my orders then” and off they would go. But, true to their word, when the pineapple casserole came out, in they would stroll. It was just sinful!! Butter. Crackers. More butter. Pineapple. Cheese. Oh!!! Try it one time. Sooooo good! Sooo “southern” and completely made with love!

Then on Sunday morning I walked in and said to Tim “Can you get me a bagel for breakfast?” So off he went in search of my bagel…..Meanwhile, Rick walks over and I told him that if he wants a bagel to catch Tim and he will bring him one. Well, Rick gets this big smile on his face and said “oh, no, I have a better treat for you”. He sets this caramel-y roll in front of me; puffed pillows of JOY!! It was a recipe that I used to make when I was a newlywed. I had forgotten about it. Butterscotch, pecan rolls that Gail calls Monkey Bread. Oh, I get goose bumps just thinking about them. So easy. So simple. Sooo good! I ate two of them and when Tim returned an hour later, I never ate his “hard to find” bagel!

Treat yourself to one of Gails recipes. She is a very special person and a very special cook.

Then Saturday evening, and Saturday was a very long day for me as I had worked 38 hours straight at QVC on Friday, I got a little tired as the day began to wind down. I was dragging; my tail feathers were touching the ground. All of a sudden this sweet young man was standing in front of me. He had a huge smile on his face, he said his name was Perry and he handed me a drink. It sort of looked like fresh lemonade but after taking a sip I said “Oh, Perry, if I drink this I will fall fast asleep”. He chuckled and said “I think that is what you need because you have worked really hard today and now it’s party time”. He was right! I did need to party!

If you ever get to the gift show in Atlanta, stop in to the Gib Carson Showroom. Gib is adorable and they are all very special but ask to meet Gail and Perry. They are pure joy!

To Gail and Perry and everyone at the showroom……”Thank you for taking care of us”.

Love,
Jeanne
