Summer Memories

Friends often ask me about memories growing up.  What are some of my favorite memories? Here’s one of my favorites

At the Shore in Barnegat Light, NJ--

Every June  I fondly look back at summers past and vacations that I have spent with my family & friends.

When I was a young child, my grandparents had a home in Barnegat Light, NJ. Every summer we would go there.  I loved and still love this place, although I have not been to Barnegat for a very long time.  Out of their living room window you could see the famous light house Old Barney.  My grandparents lived on a street where there was a baseball field right across from their house, and there was a law that said no one could build on that lot--so they would always have the view directly to Old Barney.

A swim suit model at heart!

I can still smell the salt air and feel the ocean breeze, the warm sun on my face. One memory that I still recall is one summer where I got terrible sunburn.  I must have been 6 or 7, and it hurt so bad, I couldn’t sleep.  I know that is a terrible memory, but it is just something that sticks in my mind.  That is probably why I am such a sunscreen freak now!

I remember fishing with my Dad and playing on the beach with my sisters.  Getting buried in the sand, and being covered head to toe with the sand.  These memories could be the reason why I love the beach so much now.  The smell of the ocean and the feel of the sand between my toes take me back to a simpler time.

Playing in the sand with my Dad and 2 older sisters.  Such fun!
