Linda Gorman came to us on our very first cruise and has stayed as a dear friend. Over the years I have gotten wonderful gifts and cards she has made. I finally said I need to share her with all the Quackers. She has agreed to play and craft with all of you each month. Linda is from Ohio, come cruise with us and meet her she’ll be crafting on the cruise. Welcome aboard Linda.

Gormay Greetings

Hi! I am very excited that so many of you were interested in the “FRIEND” scrapbook that I made for Jeanne.  I would love to tell you how I made it.  I found the “FRIEND” scrapbook album at a local scrapbook store in the chipboard section.  If you can’t find it or don’t have a craft store close, you can search for it on the internet by putting in the search for a “ Bo Bunny My Word Album Friend”.   There are also other words that the album comes in like, TRAVEL, LOVE, FAMILY, ECT.   It is easy to find and very inexpensive.  Once you have the album the fun begins.

To get started on the album you will need 6-8 pieces of scrapbook 12”x12” paper.  I chose 3 designed and 3 solid pieces.  While you are choosing your papers, keep in mind the person you are making it for.  I found papers with some of Jeanne’s favorite colors.  I decided to alternate between the patterned and solid papers to make the book more interesting.  You will also need markers, adhesive, trinkets, yarn, ribbon, and any other embellishments that you like.

Step 1.  Take each piece of chipboard and use a marker to color around the edges of each page.  This step makes your project look finished and is much easier to do before you get the paper on it page.

Step 2.  Trace around each page of the scrapbook with a pencil or marker.  Don’t forget to turn each page over and trace around it so you have a front and back.  Cut out the pages and adhere them with scrapbook adhesive or double sided tape to each page.  12”x12” pieces of paper covered each page of the album-even the last one.

Step 3.  Select pictures, sayings, trinkets, buttons, jewels or whatever you want to decorate the book with and put them in the book.  I took my 12 pictures to a photo center in a discount store and put 4 photos on one 4”x6” print so the pictures were small enough to get a lot of them on the page.  I also used some 4”x6” photos on the larger pages.   I found to help make the pictures pop, I would double or triple matt them.  I also used pop dots to make them pop out from the page.

Step 4.  After completing the book, I put it together with binder rings.  The rings that came with the book were too small for me, so I found 1.5” binder rings for Jeanne’s book.  This way I could tie lots of ribbons and charms on each ring.

This project makes a great Christmas gift and it is lots of fun to make.  Let your imagination run wild.  I have many fun craft ideas to share with all of you.  I hope you have as much fun making your scrapbook as I did mine.  I would love to answer any questions and hear any of your ideas or suggestions.  Please let me hear from you: email me at contactus@quackerfactory.com.) I love hearing from others Quackers!

HAPPY scrapping!

Linda
