      Hi All,
It’s a new month and the sun is finally shining. Hooray!
Adele, I am lucky that Greg can help with the computer stuff. I must say he is kind of a Renaissance Man as he knows something about a lot of things. Can do home repairs, some electronics, some plumbing etc. and can cook too.
I guess now the pain doctor wants to do more shots but in a different spot than before-so we’ll see how that goes.
We just had a small dusting of snow and now it is colder but sunny!
Barbara, I too went crazy for awhile over the solar things but had to cut back as there were things stuck in all over the place and it was starting to look a little out of hand. lol
Colleen, hmmmm-tiny bubbles in your stomach. I thought the same thing as you-the song immediately popped into my head. If your doctor is really young and you started singing that song I’m sure that she would have never heard of it and would have looked at you funny. However, I don’t think I could have controlled myself-I would have had to do it. So did you ask her who the heck this doctor Taylor is? When you finally see him you will have to tell him that he would make a good undercover agent as no one knows where he is. I would say that would not be good for business. Plus, now I am curious as to why tiny bubbles in your stomach would cause such distress. It will be good to find out.

Here’s something interesting that I found when I googled National Quacker Day. It’s a picture from the live show a few years back and right in the front is Debbie, Debra and Nancy. I will have to send a copy of this to Debbie. I still actually have that Quacker show on my DVR-Greg was supposed to figure out a way of putting it on discs for me so I could send one to each of them. He has not gotten around to it yet. lol

      Hey Gail
Are they the 3 women in a row, in the 2ond row from the bottom I love the Valentin pics- how cute. Today, I ordered my Valentine paper dishes, and Easter ones from Oriental Trading. They also have these adorable “treat boxes” for every occasion, and i send cookies home with all of them in those treat boxes, as I am tired of losing all my lock n lock’s.
Greg is a keeper for sure! I am missing so many pics of your family, since I still have issues with Facebook. If I get an email from someone on facebook, I can click and see that one. But, I cannot get into anything else, or scroll down. i will have to take the time to call the Geek Squad again. But, lately I just cannot get to it. Too much to do, and soon I have to start getting ready for taxes. that takes a good week of my time- after the Super Bowl….LOL
What is this with gas bubbles bothering my buddy Colleen- have to read the posts!

      Hi Colleen!
I have never heard of the tiny bubbles in your stomach. Do you get a lot of gas, with burping? I ca see how they would be uncomfortable, especially if they are not expelled.
this will be interesting to see if they can find that doctor. What a mystery. An aggravating one for you.
I hope you all have a good time at your daughters, and lots of fun with little Aliza.
I fear the same over here- no more babies for a while. They are so cuddly, and they grow so fast.
Walmart has potato soup, and they have anew lower total for free delivery….LOL Go Colleen!
Also hope your daughters can help you with your new phone. Don;t forget to write down the directions they give you, as you cannot believe how fast you will forget. That is what I do, until I get used to them.
We got about 3 inches, and now it is 40. It will disappear fats. I hope so as we are going out for brunch with our friend on Saturday.
Hope you are having a great day!

      Hi Ladies,
Well, we’re bracing for another round of snow & ice in a day or two. they’re saying the exact same thing they said last month, a trace to an inch of snow. Last time we got a foot of snow. The East wind is howling out there right now. that’s what makes it so darn coooold!!
By the way whether or not the ground hog sees his shadow, spring is 6 weeks away. lol
Colleen, have you tried Beano? Maybe that would help with those bubbles. (I didn’t say ‘tiny bubbles’) lol
I’ll be sending along some pics of Oregon that was on my Newsfeed on Facebook.

Kay & I are planning to order Chinese food in for the Super bowl on Sunday. That’ll be fun & good. Since both teams are East coast teams don’t know who we’ll be rooting for.
      Guess that’s all for tonight.

      Hi Gail,
You are lucky that you have Greg and he can do so many things. Ron is good at fixing things around the house it is just getting him to do it. I still have the tile for the bathroom under the bed. I have called his nephew to come and install them but he told his nephew that he can do it. So I give up. I think that my next plan it to tell him that I am putting the tiles in the church auction. See if that will help.
Hopefully the new shots will help Greg with his back. I wonder where they are going to do these at? How many places are there on your back that they can give you a shot. Will say a prayer for him.
The doctor is trying to find this doctor. She has two girls that work in the office trying to find him. At least I now have his first name and may be able to find him on my own. Will look him up on here tonight after I get done on this site. Maybe I will have better luck.
Debbie will get a kick out of seeing that picture. They had such a good time on that show. Do you hear from Debra? She kind of dropped off the site also. Maybe some of them will come back.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
It will be interesting to see what these bubbles are. They have already ruled out an ulcer so this is a mystery also. Got that doctors first name so will look him up and see if I can find him on the internet. Maybe my search will be over.
I will not get to go to my daughters tomorrow. I will go one day next week. Things are just crazy around here and they are not getting any better. You did not get too much snow and that is good. We are supposed to have some snow here on Sunday but we will see. They keep changing the forecast. I think the best weather report we can get is look out the window and if the sun is shinning it will be a nice day and if there are clouds in the sky we can almost figure out what type of clouds they are. We could do better that way instead of listening to the weather men.
I have to write things down. I forget things five minutes after they happen. If they just put some games on the tablet I have that will be fine. I will not worry anymore about that. I am not in a big hurry to get my phone set up. I can do that anytime.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
      Colleen
p.s. Any word from Gary’s doctor yet? I sure hope that they have called and let you know how his liver is. Hope they can give you some information about the pain that you had.

      Hi DD,
Have not tried any type of over the counter meds. The doctor gives me medicine to help with this so will wait until she quits giving my the meds that she is giving me. The beano may help you never know.
I hope that you do not get all that snow again. It was really hard for people to get around in that mess. Maybe they will do a better job of clearing the roads this time around. They may know how to do it now. That is a mess when you do not have the equipment to remove all the snow. It was good that people came to help.
Is it Feb. 4th when they drag the ground hog out? I always forget when it is ground hog day. I wonder how long those ground hogs live. Maybe they are getting tired of being dragged out and having to forecast the weather. I wonder what it means if they refuse to come out? Does that mean we have a lot more winter coming? That is something to think about.lol
We will be right over for the Chinese. That is one of my favorites to eat. That is nice that they will deliver to your apartments. That makes it so much nicer then you having to go out and pick it up.
Enjoy the game and have a good night.

Hey DD…..root for our guys!! Go Pats!! You have to love Brady, and my Gronky, who will not be playing s is such a huge personality. Gronk does a lot of good work with volunteering, etc.
I hope you do not get too much snow.
Chinese is a great idea for Sunday, and since your teams will not be playing, you should be able to get it good and hot, and fast. I think if we tried to order anything on Sunday over here, the wait would be forever, and then come cold.
Our sun is shining over here. this has been the strangest winter ever.
      stay cozy- bake something yummy!!

      Hi Colleen
I am sorry you will not be bale to get to your daughter”s this week, as I know how much fun you have with the grands.
You are right- the phone can wait. Your safety on the roads is way more important.
No news on Gary yet. I called yesterday, and the doctor’s nurse, who reviews them first, was not in. so they said they hope to have them by today. that is unusual for them- they are usually pretty fast.
I hope you find your doctor, and these bubbles get dissolved. You have been suffering with this for too long, and it must be tiring, and old.
Our sun is shining today. We are going out for brunch with our old friends Winnie and Al on Saturday, and there is no snow predicted for our outing-yahoo!
Hope your day will go well.

      Hi Everyone,
Two sunny days in a row! I have to soak this all in. Today is groundhog day. I always like to watch the movie if I can. I know I’ve mentioned that it was filmed down the road from us. So if you ever watch it you can picture me in all those places as I have been in the park, the restaurants and the Opera House. They still have a celebration in that town every year.
DD, I hope you don’t get the cold and snow again. Chinese sounds good for the Super Bowl. Not sure what we will do.
Adele, you got the picture right. Debbie is in the blue cheetah sweater, Debra in black and Nancy in red. If I remember correctly when they went on that trip they had dinner the night before with Angel. In fact Debra and Nancy were on the last cruise and Debra won a drawing there to have dinner with Angel and Patrick. Sue was on that cruise also.
I hope you hear about Gary’s tests soon. Have fun going out to eat this weekend.
Colleen, I hope that you get that bathroom floor down soon. When Greg has a bunch of stuff to do I make him a honey do list to remind him and as he is very goal oriented he likes to get things crossed off the list. Maybe that would work with Ron. You have had that tile for awhile. Winter is a good time to get an indoor project like that done.
I think the original shot was in his lower back and this one will be higher up. I suppose it will be early in the morning again-I forgot to ask.
I think Debbie might still hear from Debra every once in awhile but I don’t hear from her.
I’m going to stand in front of the window and see if I can get a suntan. lol

I get e-mails from Debra from time to time and she is on Facebook a lot. She has lost a lot of weight. Cut her calories to about 1000 a day. She looks great. I hope she does not continue to lose as it would be to much. She says she still sees the fat girl in the mirror. She is busy and there are some things she is dealing with. They have also been cruising and inclusive vacations so they keep very busy. This time of year she will be busy with taxes.

Glad some of you are seeing sun. It pops out for a bit here then the next minute it is snowing again. Not a lot of snow but it covers the ground and is a nuisance we did have 3 or 4 inches on Tuesday. Becoming very cold with snow this weekend. The groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter but we already knew that. A surprising fact. They said it costs more for a room in Punxsutawney for groundhog day then it does for a room for the super bowl. My guess is there are less rooms available for groundhog day thus they cost more.

      Hey Sue!
That is funny about the rooms for ground hog day.
Tell Debra hello for me, and that I wish her well.
I still cannot get beyond the message posted on an email on Facebook. I wish I could get to the icon to contact them for problems, but it will not let me scroll. the little circle at the top keeps going around, and I cannot even get the cursor to let me make a comment. this morning and old friend who is in Florida, said she lost a friend, and I wanted to click on a sad emogee, and all it would let me do is click on like. then I tried to add a “sorry” comment- no go.
So, who will you be rooting for on Sunday? I will be glad when it is all over, as that is all you hear on TV. i hope we win, for 2 reasons- to kick butt with Roger Goodell, and because Brady’s Mom is sick. Plus, they are out team, of course. Gary, Bobby, and Jhonny are dying for the game to begin.
Our weather up here has been the weirdest ever. Very little snow, and it melts fast with the warmer temps. We are supposed to get colder on Saturday, and of course, a snow storm on Tuesday, when i am supposed to go to PT. I feel like I am never going to get there. I’ll wait until Monday to change it, in case they are wrong.
Nothing exciting going on here, accept I am going to clean the bathrooms. LOL
Hope your day is going well.

      Hey Gail!
I hope we hear soon too. But, I figure it this way- if it was bad, we would have already heard, so that is good.
Get our sunglasses on in that window, and watch for the crazy cardinal, or you will be his next target….LOL
Our sun is out too- very strange. I hope I do not lose a lot of plantings, because there is not snow cover to protect their roots.
I hope Greg is feeling better. Did he have the next shot yet?
I wish our old Quacker buddies would come on, and just say how they are once a year. That would be nice for everyone to know they are all ok.
Have a good day with the sun shining!

      Hi Ladies,
Good news, I think we dodged a bullet. It appears we’re not getting the snow they were expecting, but some areas will see a snow & rain mix. Higher
elevations will get either, freezing rain or snow. But we could see freezing rain overnight, but should be gone by mid morning. I HOPE!! They’re using salt in the worst areas for the freezing rain, so that should help the morning commute. Then it changes to good ole Oregon rain by Friday afternoon. The weekend is supposed to be in the mid 40s so that eliminates any chance of snow. And the Best thing is the East wind will be gone. It’s been awful the past couple nights. Verrrrrry cold!!! I’m glad I didn’t have to be out in it!!!

I get a chuckle out of you guys talking about your hubbies & their remotes, phones, etc. Can you believe we didn’t have those things a decade or so ago!
A while back Kay came to my door saying her TV wouldn’t come on. So I go over, pick up the remote, pressed one button & guess what, the TV came on.
When I did that she looked at me like “Really?”
      Well, that’s all for now.

      Hi DD,
It is good that the snow passed you by this time around. You sure did not need any snow that is for sure. We are supposed to be 8 inches short of snow fall. I did not know that they measured the snow fall like that. I imagine that the rain will make up for some of it.
Men can be a pain sometimes. Especially if they do not know how to use the new technology. Ron can really mess things up when he tries to figure out these things. I am better of setting my phone and tablet up at my daughters because they will do it right and they do not need his help. Most of the time with this stuff I do not either.
Poor Kay. She probably felt really silly when all you did was push the button on the remote control. It is good that she had you to call and have to over to fix the problem. It is nice that you and Kay have each other to eat with and talk to. It is hard when you do not have a friend close by.
Love the pictures that you posted. The tulips are so pretty. The picture of the birds with the cardinal reminds me of the one that has been bothering Gail for so long. They really are not that smart a bird. They sure do like to run into windows. lol
Well that is about all for tonight. Have a good night.

      Hi Sue,
Thanks for the info on Debra. She really has lost a lot of weight. That is a hard diet to stick just 1000 calories. I can imagine that she really looks good now.
We are supposed to get some snow this week-end but they may be wrong like always. Hope that you get a break from the snow. We have had some sunshine here also. It is so good to see the sun.

      Hi Gail,
That to do list sounds like a good idea. Our furnace is making a crazy noise now so we will have to have that checked out. Hope that it makes it thru this winter. Maybe if we replace that we will get a new air conditioner also. I am tired of the window unit.
I really like that movie Groundhog day also. It would be fun to go there and see all the places that are in the movie. That is such a good movie. That guy can think of more ways to kill himself and anyone that I have ever known. I cannot think of his name now but he was good in the part.
They are really giving Greg the shots all over his back. My shots were in the upper back because that is where the disc is that is deteriorating. Maybe it will work this time and he will not have anymore back pain. Will he have to have 3 shots again or just the one? I am really being nosy right now.
I hope that the tanning is going well. Is your cardinal back yet? Maybe he will not come back this year. He may have found a better window in another house that he likes to bang into.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
Sounds like a lot of fun going out for brunch. Hope that the weather holds out and you can go and have a good time. It is fun to go out for brunch. That is something that people do not do as often in our area. I do not know why they always have good food.
I hope that they called you today with the results of Gary’s test. I think that you are right if they have not called by now it must not be bad news. It is just nice to hear and get it over with.
Still no word on who this doctor Taylor is. I looked on google and the only one that I found is in St. Louis. Do not think that he is the one because he is not any where close to Cape. So will have to wait and see what the doctor comes us with.
How are you feeling? Hope that you have not had anymore pains. Just take care of yourself. Will everyone be at your house for the super bowl? That should be fun. Hope that none of them holler if the game is not going their way. Or even if it is. My sil hollers every time his team make a touch down. Hope that they do not let him watch the game while he is in Korea.lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen!
We heard from the doctor. So far, his tests are good. But, they said his liver enzymes were still up, and because he is chubby, the ultrasound did not show as much as they wished. So, he is getting referred to a gastro doctor.
I also ran what happened to me that day by her. She said if the appendix goes, the pain would not have stopped. If it ever happens again, I will call them right away, or go to the ER. I am wondering if it was one of those electrical shocks/pains I get every once in a while form a nerve being squeezed in my back.
I cannot believe nobody can find this doctor. i am wondering if he has a funky spelling to his name, and that is why. Today, you just never know how someone spells their name. I hope your own doctor has success in finding him.
I am still not too sure what we are serving Sunday, or if everyone is coming or not. Gary wants them all gone, so he can watch the game alone. Seriously? What is up with that? He is getting way too serious about this game. You would think he bet a million dollars, and he is not a betting man….LOL
Hope your Friday goes well….Tom Selleck is on tonight!

      Hey DD!!
that is so funny about your friend Kay. Thank God you knew which button to hit. Gory just keeps hitting them, until the whole TV goes black, and it becomes a huge issue to figure out what he did. If I am in the room, I yell to put the remote down. Did I tell you we have 2 remotes? I have one, and so does he. So, it gets very amusing over her….LOL
So glad your snow did not make a visit to your town! It is sunny here today, bit cold. In the 20’s.
So, you never said…who are you rooting for this weekend? I just hope there are no incidents that scare people over the weekend. It is sad we have to think that way.
Hope your day is going well!

      hey Sue!
Thanks for reminding us. It is on at 5 here, so I have to make sure Tillie is up here by then.
here is a funny for you. So, I was trying to make sourdough bread for today, and Gary was going to the Jewish store to get corned beef. Well, my sourdough starter was in the fridge too long, without use, and it is not ready- needs 2 more days of “feeding” it. (I called the King Arthur Bakers Hotline, as there were not a lot of bubbles in the starter this morning) To feed it, you dump half of the mixture out, then feed it with a half cup of water, and a cup of flour, then cover it again.
So, Gary apparently really wanted his corned beef sandwich today. Off to Panera Bread he went, stood in line for a ridiculously long time, and when eh got to the counter, the lady was all out of sourdough bread, with only a very small one left. She told him someone came in, and bought all the loaves, accept the one lonely, small loaf, which he was bale to get. Poor Gary had to get a light rye with it, so we could have our sandwiches tonight.
So,the question that is quite amusing for today is…….Why is the town of Saugus having a sourdough emergency today?” Poor Gary’s feet are killing him (he has neuropathy) and he is safely in his recliner until dinner.
Hope your day is going well!

      Hi Adele,
Thank God that everything is okay with Gary’s liver. He can bring the enzymes down can’t he with diet. I hope that they find out soon what all is good. I wonder if they will run that scope down his throat to check his liver. I do not know if that is how they do that or not.
I did not even think about your back pain. I know that you had all that trouble with your back and still do. I know that it can run down into the legs and really cause them to hurt. You are right. I am glad that she thinks that is all that it is. Just take care of yourself and be careful.
They did finally find that doctor. His office called me today but will have to call them back. I have to make sure that they take my insurance and that they clear everything with the insurance before they do anything. We got a letter from our insurance company saying that they are not covering my mri because it was not cleared with them. So cannot afford to have another procedure done unless I am sure it has been approved.
Have you been getting this funky thing coming up when you try to post on here? I had to give my name and e-mail address and check that stupid box that said I am not a robot. I hope that this is not going to get to be an every time thing. This is getting to be a pain.
That is interesting that he does not want anyone there for the super bowl. You will just have to fix one thing that will feed a lot of people. If you make chili that would be good because it will not matter who or how many come. Chili can be streched out pretty far.
Well that is about all from here. I am going to see if this is going to post. That robot thing keeps popping up. What a pain.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen
I did get the robot thing again, and I had to sign in again, and check the bottom for notifications. It is ok again.
I am so glad you got the doctor to call you- finally!
Do no take that sitting down- your doctor had you go for the MRI- call them to fix it. Obviously, they did no send the paperwork for it to be approved first, and they need to fix that. that is WAY too much money to pay yourself. I am sure this can be fixed. Let me know what your doctor has to say about it.
I think he can get the liver numbers down, just by eating less butter. I swear, he puts about a half stick of butter on his bagel every morning. he has a gastro appointment set up for the 22ond. We will see what he says.
So a storm is expected on Tuesday, and that is the day of the PT appointment. I swear, I will never get there.
It now looks like we will be alone tomorrow, and I think that is ok. I will nto have to cook, nor clean up! I will hem my Quacker cords- got 2 new colors a while back, and still have not done them…LOL
We had a good time t brunch today. HAd to wait a half hour to be seated. At elast they had a place to sit while you waited. I wore my Quacker flag cardigan, and my flag shirt underneath. I was in the Pats’ colors.
Hope your day is going well…..please cheer for our Pats….LOL

Yes Adele you are correct when you are not signed in you have to prove you are not a robot. You are also right the doctor most likely did not submit the paperwork correctly for the MRI. I had a visit submitted wrong and it was denied but they resubmitted it correctly and then it was paid. I don’t know what insurance she has but I can go to any doctor in network and even can see them if they are not just costs more. So I did not understand why she did not pick a doctor in her network and make appointment instead of waiting around waiting to see who to go to. You can find doctors online and also their ratings.
Did you buy anything from last nights show? I did not I did like the capris but they did not have any different colors just the basics I already have.

      Hey Sue!
I hope Colleen calls her doctor to settle this, so she does not get a huge bill for the MRI.
Tillie wanted the heart shirt and one pair of capris, so I got them for her and will give them to her on Molters Day. I got the elbow shirts with the nautical motifs, in black and blue. I love the elbow shirts in summer, as they hide my chubby arms.
I also ordered 2 pairs of denim and Co cotton plain jogging pants for around the house, to wear my older Quacker shirts. I wanted a very light fabric, (so I will not get hot) and hope they will work- got their crops, as crops fit me as pants. Did you ever get any of Denim and co- this is my first time buying from them.
Well….it was decided we are doing the chili tomorrow, as Bobby decided not to go to his friends house. He had initially taken Monday off, and now has to work because they have a meeting he has to attend. Plans always change over here. I was doing the bread tomorrow anyway, so that’s good. Bobby will out it all together for me, and all I will do is the prep work of measuring and cutting up the beef tips.
Hope you have some fun planned too….rooting for us……. I cannot believe how many people hate our team. up here, we all love Brady and Gronk. We find Bellichek amusing. Gronk is out as he had back surgery.

      Hi Sue,
Thank you for your advice. The doctors that I went to are all in my plan. For me to see a specialist he or she has to be refereed by my doctor. So she had to find this man so I could go to see him. The doctor that did the MRI did the referral instead of going thru my primary care doctor. That is why she had to find this doctor. So I think that I did everything right it was the doctors that did not do the referrals like they should have. I had no way of knowing until they sent me the letter from the insurance. I must have a different type of insurance then you have. So it is not as easy as it is for you.
Thanks for you advice it was appreciated

      Hi Adele,
I did figure out what happened that I had to keep doing that. I forgot to sign in but thought I had. Having one of those senior moments. I figured it out and got it fixed and got on the normal way. That really made me feel dumb when I figured it out.
I am going to the doctors office Monday to take care of all of this. It should be easy to fix. She will just send the paper work that should have been sent and take care of it. I just got the letter yesterday and it was a shock to say the least. I will not just pay this and not put up a fight. It is a shame that we have to go thru all of this just to have tests that we need.
That is a lot of butter for a bagel. Have you ever tried that Brummel and Brown? The doctors always say that it is better for you then regular butter or margarine. At least it would not have the same ingredients in it and it is made from yogurt I think. I use it most of the time. It does come in smaller tubs and is a little more expensive but if it helps it is worth it. It is hard not to use a lot of butter on things that are a little dry. I think that bagels are a little dry and use butter and sugar free jelly. It does help me.
That will be a nice day for you and Gary. You can just sit and relax and maybe order something in for dinner. We will not have anyone here but we never do on Super Bowl Sunday. They were saying on the Chew that it is like Thanks giving at their house. I think that it was Mario that said that. He also showed his menu for the day. That was a lot of food. Hope that you just enjoy the game.
Your outfit sounded really cute. I do not remember that sweater. Glad that they had a place for you to sit down and wait for a table. That is a sign that they have good food there. We went to a Chinese place to eat tonight. They had some really good food. Chinese is one of my favorites. Glad that you had a good time.
Hopefully they will be wrong about the weather and you will get to go to physical therapy. You really need to get in there and have them do something for your shoulders. They may give you some exercises to do at home to help. I hope that you will get to go.
      Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I guess we all had to sign in again, cause I had the same thing happen to me the last time I posted on here.
Well, here we go again!! They’re predicting a big snow storm for Super bowl Sunday!! They’re not clear whether or not it’s gonna be a big snow storm or a lot of rain. It depends on how cold it is, timing of when it hits, & where it hits!! It seems as tho this winter will not end!! I know it’s the middle of winter but enough is enough!!! We did freezing rain Thurs. night into Friday & it was a MESS!!! there was a 30 car pileup on one of the freeways. I had to run errands so I took a cab to the store. that was a first for me. I usually walk, but I wasn’t about to walk on the icy sidewalks. a lot of people were falling down around here, & I don’t need or want to fall again.

Colleen, I’m glad you finally(!) heard from that Dr. I was beginning to think he didn’t exist. Either that or had a different name & they made a mistake.
I hope they find what those little bubbles are.
Adele, have you ever tried melted butter or margarine on the bagels? Just brush it on with one of those little brushes you use to baste poultry with

I found a piece of pork loin in my freezer the other day, so I cooked it up & had Kay & Critt over for dinner last night. It turned out better than I thought it would. We had a good time.
Well, I guess that’s all for this time around. I missed the QF show the other day. Oh well
      Have a great Sunday

      Hi Colleen
I wish you great success in your doctor visit tomorrow. I am sure they can fix this. Don’t you hate it when we all have to do the doctor’s work, due to some error?
Well, today has changed again. Since Bobby had to cancel his day off tomorrow, due to that meeting he has to attend, we are doing the chili. Lucky for me, all I had to do was measure all the ingredients. Bobby is cutting up the meat, and doing the rest. I did make the sourdough bread. It is on it’s second rising.
Gary will not use anything but butter. He is never willing to help himself, and that is a source of discussions over here….LOL I use either a flavored cream cheese (I like veggie) or the English clotted cream on my bagel- once in a while I will use butter.
My friend Joyce called today, and asked to go to lunch tomorrow, so that is nice. We are going to Applebees. Tuesday they are still predicting a big storm, with snow, ice and then ending as rain Wednesday. Dam. I will wait until tomorrow morning, and then make the final decision on cancelling the PT.
I missed Mario’s menu. I wonder if I can google it. they put things on so fast, and they are gone before I can read all if it. I do love the Chew!
I hope our Pats win today. It is such a shame Brady’s Mom is sick, and it would be nice for her to see him win. They said this is the first game she has been able to attend. Such a shame.
Hope you are having a good day!

      Hi DD!
I love the kitty pic and Gail will love the butterflies. Those are her favorites.
I hope they were wrong on your weather report. We are getting blasted on Tuesday. Yuck.
My girlfriend called, and asked if I would meet her for lunch on Monday, and I said yes. It may be the last day I get out for quite a while, if the storm Tuesday is bad. So, if I have any little errand, I better work it into my day on Monday. Today, it is cloudy here, but, not too cold.
I have used melted butter, once in a while. It spreads all over the bagel and you do not miss a spot, and use less….LOL
Your dinner sounded great. I bet your friends were happy you had them over, and it was nice for you too. It is always fun to have company over. Over here, all depends on the weather. It is so nice your friends are right there, in your building.
I hope you enjoy the day, and root for our Pats….LOL

      Hi DD,
I hope that they were wrong about your weather for Sunday. We were supposed to get some snow but it did not happen here. It turned out to be a nice day. Maybe it will be the same for you there. Hope you had fun watching the game and eating the Chinese food at Kay’s. You were smart to take a cab to go to the store. That would not be good if you fell. You really have been having more then your share of bad weather.
Sounds like you had a nice day with Kay and Critt. It is so nice that you three can get together and have a good time. It is even better that you all live in the same building and do not have to go out to get to each others apartments. That really makes it nice. Your dinner sounds really good.
I was beginning to think the same thing about that doctor. We will see what he is like and if he can help. It would be nice to get this all over with and not have to worry about it anymore.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
It was nice that Bobby was there to help with making the chili. Your bread sounds really good. It looked good also. You always bake such good things. I really wish that I was that good at baking. I guess with all the time I have I should give it a shot and see how it turns out. I have never been very good at baking bread. I do not know if I do not knead it enough or too much but it never turns out right.
Maybe melting butter will work and cut down on the butter he uses. DD came up with a good idea. I had never thought of that. At least that way you can control the amount that he has on his bagel. Sometimes it is like having another child in the house taking care of our husbands.lol
We need to say a prayer for Christine. She is in the hospital with a kidney infection. She went in Friday and is supposed to come Tuesday. I knew that she thought she had an infection but did not know that it was that serious. Stewart said that she was doing better then she was. Just wanted to let everyone know.
That will be nice for you and Joyce to go out for lunch tomorrow. I hope that you have a nice time. It will be good for you two to get out and talk for awhile. It is nice to get out of the house and meet with a friend. Hope that the weather will hold out until after you go to pt and get that shoulder worked on. You have been having so much pain in that shoulder and need something done.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night

That’s nice that you had Kay and Crit for dinner. I hope that you won’t get anymore ice and snow storms.
We are lucky and have weather in the 40’s today and tomorrow. Plus the sun has been shining for a few days. So far the winter hasn’t been too bad but there is still two more months to go so things can change quickly. I think you guys on the west coast have been keeping all our bad weather for yourselves. Thank you. lol You are welcome to it.
Good thinking taking the cab to run errands as a fall is not a good thing for any of us. We’ve always had a motto on here coined by Debbie, “stay upright.”

      Hi Sue,
Thanks for the info on Debra. I do remember that Debbie had told me about her weight loss now that I think about it. 1000 calories is a pretty restrictive diet to keep up forever. Congratulations to her. That is a lot of hard work. I hope she eventually looks in the mirror and sees her new svelte self. Isn’t it funny how our mindset affects us. I look in the mirror and see my 20 year old self even though I am now more than twice as big and more than three times as old. lol

      Hi Colleen,
I will say some prayers for Christine. She sure has had her share of illnesses the last year or so. Plus-does she have only one kidney? Maybe it’s not her I’m thinking of-but if it is she needs to keep the one that she has healthy.
I hope your furnace does last the winter. We have two furnaces and I think we have replaced one twice and an AC unit. It would be nice if you do have to replace it to get the central AC-I don’t know now how we ever did without it in our old house-but we were younger and healthier then too.
The name of the guy in Groundhog Day is Bill Murray-at least I think that’s who you mean.
Yup-the cardinal is still banging his head against the window. He was out there just a little bit ago.
I think all the men holler at the football game on TV. Sometimes I will even say stuff-but I don’t yell it like they do. For some reason they feel like they have to yell “Touchdown!” or “Fumble!” like we can’t see it ourselves. lol
I’m glad that you finally located the mysterious doctor Taylor-you tell him from us that after all the trouble he caused with everyone searching for him he better fix you back up better than new. Plus I hope that the MRI charges get straightened out-those tests are too expensive to pay for straight out. I’m sure you’ll go to the office and get it fixed up. It’s just such a pain when the doctor’s office doesn’t do it right the first time and then you have to do the leg work to get it right.
Piper was funny Friday night. She had Greg trapped in her bedroom and wouldn’t let him leave to go home. And of course he just eats it all up.
Saturday night I went with Jenny and her MIL to a fundraiser to the preschool that Piper goes to and that her older kids went to. It’s this paddle auction thing where you take a bunch of quarters and you buy paddles (we each bought three) Anyway, the vendor comes up and shows you what she’s auctioning and says it’s for one quarter or two quarters etc. They pass around a jar and if you want to bid on the item you put in the amount of quarters you would need for how many paddles that you want to use-then they pick numbers of the paddles and if they pick yours you win. It’s a lot of fun but we weren’t very lucky. Jenny won once and so did I and her MIL didn’t win at all. Last year I didn’t win either. It’s all for a good cause though as it’s a fundraiser for the preschool so I consider it like a donation. Last year we bought our quarters there but this year I raided the bag that we collect laundry money from the apartment to get quarters for me and Jenny.
Yesterday was such a nice day we decided to get out of the house for a bit so we went over to Rockford to a new furniture store to look for a new kitchen table and a new couch and chair. We found some things that we really liked. I’m not sure if we want to buy the stuff now or wait until we get some of the redecorating done that we want to do. Anyway, it was nice just to get out and about. Then we stopped at Famous Dave’s for dinner as Greg loves his barbecue.
We got a bill in the mail for our boat slip rental and the cost went up seven hundred dollars!!! We couldn’t believe that they would raise it that much in a year. So Greg called the guy over there and asked him what was up on the huge increase and he says-which slip are you-and he says no that slip shouldn’t be that much it should be the same price as last year-so that was good. But I do wonder whether it was a mistake or whether they just wanted to try and see if we would pay the increase. Makes you think.

      Hi Adele,
First off-Congrats to the Pats! They really won a big one. I’ll bet your house went from silent frowns to wild jubilation! It was a good game and a good half time show too.
I hope Gary’s gastro doctor is easier to find than Colleen’s was. Otherwise you guys will be going on a specialist scavenger hunt. lol
I do actually understand why Gary didn’t want people over for the game. Greg didn’t want to go to Jenny’s either. When you are trying to watch and there are kids running around and a bunch of people making chit chat it’s not the game watching experience that a true fan wants. They just want to be able to suck in the atmosphere of the game and watch the action. Even Greg who didn’t have a particular favorite wanted to watch at home.
I see your boy Tom is on Fallon tonight-so you’ll have to make a choice between Colbert or seeing Tom.
I too wonder why Saugus had a run on sourdough-that is funny.
So we make our chili with ground beef-obviously you don’t if you are cutting up meat for it. So do you make the kind without beans like true Texas chili? We make it with hamburger and beans.
Where do you find clotted cream and what the heck is it exactly? People often use it in books set in the UK but I don’t actually know exactly what it is. I never bothered to look it up.
I hope you and Joyce have a fun time at lunch. Lots of chatting and lots of laughter.

      Hey Adele,
I forgot to say-I have bought Denim and Co. for years and years and years. Around the house I always wear their knit pants-whatever they are called. Very comfy. I swear I have some of their stuff from almost 20 years ago-it wears like iron much like Quacker. Many items are just out of style before you wear them out. I believe Colleen wears a lot of D and Co too.

Here’s a funny one. Saturday evening I went to that auction with Jenny. However I was home by 9:15. So yesterday Greg says there was such a funny skit with Melissa McCarthy on SNL were you home in time to see it. I say yes I was home a little after nine-he goes no you weren’t and I say yes and I have the text to prove it. (have to text Jenny so she knows I got home safely-now the child is the parent-grasshopper). Anyway-I guess I don’t make much of an impression since he didn’t remember that I came home and he made me something to eat and I was the one that went over and turned on SNL. lol In his defense though I was asleep on the couch by the time that skit came on-so I guess like he felt like he was alone. Usually he’s the one that’s already upstairs in bed and I’m alone downstairs watching. So anyway-that gave me plenty to tease him about how he doesn’t even know I’m there even when I’m sitting (actually laying) in the same room as him. So I guess my presence doesn’t light up the room. lol

Here’s another thing. Yesterday I was reading a news headline in the local paper and it said an elderly woman was stabbed by her husband. So when I read farther i saw that the elderly woman was 68-my age. I didn’t think I was elderly yet but I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. The reporter was probably 30. But it did give me pause as to how I am now perceived-however young people should know that we seniors are not yet ready to be put out to pasture. lol

      Hey Gail!
Thank you for the Pats wishes….LOL It was nuts here. Heather said Jhonny shut the TV off, because he could not watch them lose, and never saw the end. A lot of people did that, and thought they lost until they saw the news today.
Bobby was watching the game downstairs, ad we were in our living room, and even Tillie was watching, but, she had no idea what she was seeing. She wanted to see Giselle, and Lady Ga Ga. Bobby kept coming up and down the stairs- it was really amusing.
So, we ended up with just us here for dinner. Dave did not feel so good, so they stayed at their apartment complex. They did go down to Steph’s to watch the game, and they went upstairs to their apartment when Jhonny shut off the TV. So, they called Jhonny to tell him he missed the big win….LOL
I am attaching a pic of the bread.
I get the clotted cream on Ebay, as it is the cheapest there. I guess I could describe it as a kind of whip cream tasting cream, that is a cross between whip cream, and butter. It has no salt. It is great on English muffins, and with or without jelly on top. I like it. We used to have to at this place we used to go for “high tea” with the girls- that is the first time we ever had it, and everyone liked it.
OMG- I will have to switch between Fallon and Colbert. I hate to miss Colbert’s monologue. Thanks for letting me know!
Gary got the number for the doctor, and already has an appointment for next week. I hope Colleen gets lucky with her doctor.

      Hi Gail,
Christine does only have one kidney. It is so dangerous for her to have any damage to the one kidney that she has left. She does worry me sometimes. I hope that she will get to come home on Tuesday if she does not get to come home Stewart will let me know. He is really a good guy.
It was Bill Murray that I was talking about. He was so good in Groundhog Day. They did not show that movie this year. I wonder why they didn’t. Maybe they will show it over the week-end. You never know when they will show it. It may be the middle of July.lol
It is funny that all men holler at the tv when they are watching football games. If you are sitting watching it with them they do not have to tell you and if you are in the other room reading a book or watching another tv they still do not need to tell you. I just cannot get into football. It is such a mean game to me. You have to wonder why they catch that ball when they know all those big guys are going to chase them and knock them down to get the ball. It would be easier to just hand it to them and walk away in on piece.
This doctor they are sending me to is in St. Louis and not Cape. That is why it was so hard to find the guy. We were all looking in the wrong place. So will have to call and make sure they take my insurance. I took the bill to my doctors office and they said that I have to take it to the place at Cape. This could get to be a pain but will drive all the way there and get it done if they do not take care of it. I will have to get real crabby and fight with them to get it done.
I can imagine that Greg was eating that up. Piper is so funny. What were they doing together that she did not want him to leave? I imagine that they were dancing or playing that video game. Greg really has a way with Piper.
The fundraiser sounds like a lot of fun. I like to go to things like that. It is just a nice night out of the house and it helps the school like you said. That is interesting that they only charge a quarter for a bid. That is the kind of auction that I need to go to. lol
That makes it hard to find something that you like and not get it. I never have that much patience. What all are you doing to the living room? Did you ever start with the counters in the kitchen? Hope you get done everything that you want to get done. You will have a new house like Adele’s was when she got done.
Wow that was a large raise in rent for the boat slip. Glad that you got that straightened out right away. That does seem odd that they sent that to you. You are right I think that they figured you would pay it and not ask questions. It really makes you wonder who would do that. That is too much money to just give out.
It was almost 60 today. It is supposed to rain and storms tonight and then get colder again. Not as cold as it was last week but enough that we will feel the change. This weather is driving me crazy. Wish it would make up its mind to stay warm or cold. We have some of our bushes that are blooming. It is scary that if it gets really cold out it will kill our bushes.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

OMG- I knew Christine said she did not feel well, and sent an email back to her yesterday, which I am now sure she did not receive yet. That poor thing has had such a difficult time with her health, and the proper treatment for her issues. Very lucky.
You should give bread making a try, as I know you would love it. The Kitchen Aid mixer makes it so easy- it does all my kneading. I swear that mine comes out so good, because of the mixer. It makes everything come out fabulous.
OMG- I already posted a pic of my bread….LOL Now there are 2.
I had to cancel the PT tomorrow, as we are having snow/ice/sleet. Not good. Also not good for the parade for the Patriots.
I was able to see Joyce today, and that was nice. I was amused by seeing the only people coming into the restaurant had grey hair. It was quite obvious. That never happened before. We went to Applebee’s. I like their food. Do you have one of those?

That new reporter had his facts mixed up. That woman was not elderly she was middle aged. They are saying the sixties are middle age now since people are living so long. He needs to get his facts straight.
That is funny that Greg forgot that you were home. Isn’t that just like a man. They never know what is going on.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
I am glad that the Pats won. We did not watch any of the game. Ron was going to tape it but he did not like the people that were performing at half time. He could have just fast forward it but I guess he did not think of that.
I worry about Christine all the time. They have not done anything for her foot and that eye. They need to find out what happened there. Hopefully she will be home on Tuesday and by Wednesday she will be posting on here again. She has to be so careful of that kidney.
That is funny that Johnny went to their apartment and did not watch the end of the game. You will really be able to tease him about being too quick to turn the set off. They missed the most exciting part of the game.
It doesn’t matter how many times that you posted that picture of the bread. It looks so good both times. I will have to try and make bread again. I will use the mixer to knead the bread. We really like fresh bread. The only problem is that it is so fattening. Have to be careful of that. I have finally stopped losing so much weight and do not want to gain any of it back. We will see what happens.
Sorry that you had to cancel your appointment for pt. At least you got to go to lunch with Joyce. We do have an Applebees here and they have really good food. The only trouble with the one here is they are so slow. You have to make sure that you have a lot of time to sit and wait. I have not been in there in awhile hopefully they have changed. It had been like that for a long time.
Our hair is not grey it is high lighted. Younger girls have that put in their hair and pay for it. So we just come by it naturally.lol Really I guess it is some type of blonde but sometimes it looks grey.
Well that is about all from here. If we do not hear from Christine I will check on her and find out what is going on.
      Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen,
I did see Groundhog Day being shown on one of the more obscure channels all day long.
You know football really is like a war game. Each team is trying to take territory away from the other side just like in a war. I grew up watching football and had boyfriends that played so i guess i just saw a lot of football as a young person and learned to like it. The thing I think is funny is Jenny was a cheerleader all through school and she says she doesn’t have much of any idea of what is going on at all. lol You would think it would rub off just from being around it. I think she knows more about it than she realizes. Greg came from a huge sports loving family. I always say his one brother loves sports so much that he would watch a tiddley winks match if he thought it was a sport. lol Greg’s Dad boxed in Golden Gloves matches as a young man. I’m not really into boxing but Greg always liked it because he was brought up around it. His Dad could do all that fancy rope skipping and such-he was in really good shape even as an older man when I knew him.
I hope that you get all the doctor stuff straightened around so that you can go to the new doctor. It’s too bad that you have to drive to the Cape to get that straightened out. Maybe you and Ron can go and stop for lunch and do something fun that day too. That would make it less boring.
I still dye my hair to cover the gray. I just don’t like the way it looks on me. So I get my roots done every six weeks and get hilights twice a year. it just makes me feel better. Even so I guess I’m still elderly. lol
There’s a bunch of stuff we need to do here. New paint-new carpets in living room and family room-new kitchen counters and backsplash-getting the wood floor in the kitchen redone. It’s a matter of when we want to bite the bullet and live in a mess for awhile. It’s a big chore moving everything out to get the new carpets so I hope sometime it actually gets done instead of talking about how it needs to be done. Maybe when Greg can cut back on his hours again. Not sure how we will schedule it all.
I was telling my neighbor across the street about how much I love her daffodil field in the spring and she said it might not be very good this year because winter has been sort of mild. She said those flowers like a very cold winter. I hope that they will still come up.
I swear those doctors that Christine has been seeing haven’t helped her at all. I don’t know if it’s the British medical system that is so bad or she just doesn’t push them enough to get answers. It seems like they have not helped that foot at all and she has suffered with that for so long. Those doctors are not working for her at all. No one seems sympathetic to her needs. I hope that kidney will not be damaged. I will continue to pray for her recovery. Tell her I am sending thoughts and prayers her way.

      Hi Adele,
I don’t mind looking at the bread twice. It looked delicious both times.
I wonder how many Patriots fans missed the big comeback. Oh they of little faith! I hope they get the parade in without too much bad weather today. The fans will be out there anyway-I’m sure.
We have Applebees around here too although we don’t go there much. Plus it isn’t that close-it’s about a 45 minute drive.
I will have to try that clotted cream sometime just to say I’ve had it. I’ll bet it would be good on things like corn or blueberry muffins or banana bread.
Did you get your old clothes packed away so that you have lots of room left for new Quacker. I need to get back to working on my whole house purge again. I seem to do it in fits and starts. I should put myself on a schedule and say I will devote an hour a day to it as I have to do it in every room in the house. However, anymore I am not that disciplined but I will try. It seems the older I get the more I put the work aside to do the fun stuff. lol I’m like a five year old again. Maybe we do regress. lol

      Hi Colleen!
That is a great way to look at it- we have highlighted hair. Imagine that the 60’s are now considered middle age? When we were young the 60’s were old to us. Now, that we are in them, they do not look so old.
Thank you for the nice comment on the bread. I am making more today, as we are having left over chicken soup, and left over chili, for anyone who does not want soup. I may not even use noodles int he soup for them tonight, so there are less carbs. What I sometimes do, for more protein, is get the soup to a boil, and then whisk in eggs ( whisk them up like you are scrambling them). You boil the soup for just a minute, and the eggs are cooked. They will resemble stringy noodles. I try to limit the carbs to just one, per meal. So, if I make bread, no rice, pasta, or potato will be served….LOL the only time I have made bread with pasta, is when i do the Italian braided bread, that I make sometimes when Bobby makes a gravy.
Everyone in Boston is so excited about the Pats. they had a huge parade today, in the lousy weather. It is snowing here, and in Boston it changed to rain. Right now, it stopped. It is supposed to be rain later on, all over Mass. Tomorrow it will be 55, and that is nuts! Then on Thursday, we are having more snow.
I am getting all my Quacker envelopes today. Tillie does not know it, but the things she asked me to order for her, I paid for, and will give heron Mothers Day. She may, or may not, be happy about that…LOL
So, yesterday, in prep for more room in the closet, I purged all the pants I used to wear to work. Face it, I now wear only the Quacker line, as they are just so much more comfy, and who wants to be uncomfortable?? Plus, I now have more room to add the polka dot set of 2 shirts I got a few weeks ago. I am a sucker for any of the tank, with cardigan look. I love them!! I love the idea that when you get hot, you can take the cardigan off, and that is what I need. I bought 3 of the sets….LOL
I also hope you do not gain the weight back, as losing it is always good.
hey….how are your girls, and the grands doing? Everyone here is ok. Nobody is sick. All is quiet on the Western front, as they say.
      Hope your dayis goign well.

      Hey Gail!
I just heard there were terrible tornadoes in New Orleans. I hope all our Quackers down there are ok, as well as everyone else. Just awful.
I think it is so funny that people gave up, and turned off their TV’s. I bet from now on, everyone will keep their TV’s on, until the game is done.
Colleen said her Applebees is very slow. Up here, they are good. The ones that are slow here are the occasional Friendly’s. Some are slow, and some are not. I hate the one in our town, and go up the road a bit to the next one in Nancy’s city.
On Applebees, they used to have this delicious steak that they served cut into small pieces, and with pineapple on the top. It was delicious. they too it off the menu, so I have to pick another steak. The one I had was also very good, so no complaints.
I did finally get them packed into a huge contractor green bag. I will have our delivery person take them to Salvation Army later this week. It is too lousy out there today, for any extra stops. I am ashamed to say, the closet is still full….LOL
My next jobs will be to purge the bottom of the closet. I still have pretty boots I will never wear again. I am hoping Heather will take them,a s she wears the same size. It is such a shame for them to just sit there. That is a lot of pulling and reaching, and I may need a Minnion to help.
I had to stop dying my hair, as it lasted only a week. You saw the white roots rel fast, and they made me look like I had no hair, with all the white on my scalp. It took me almost a year to grow it all out. I had to keep having it cut short, until it was all gone. Now, I am able to let it grow a little, and it is touching my shoulders right now.
Hope your day is going well, and your weather is good!

      Hi Gail,
Christine is home from the hospital. She has a nurse that comes to take care of her twice a day. It seems like if you go in the hospital they take better care of you then at the doctors office. I have heard that England’s health care is not very good. They sure are not doing much for Christine that is for sure. This is the best care that she has had for a long time. Wish they could take care of her other issues but guess they cannot. I will tell her that you were asking about her but she may get on here soon. I am not sure.
I use to watch football with my dad when I was a kid. With all of us women in the house he did not stand much of a chance to win at anything. So I was the one that watched it with him until my brother got old enough to watch. He really was not much of a football fan though. I just lost interest when I got married. Ron would watch it on two tvs and have the radio on also. It was a pain listening to all of that. The girls use to get so mad at their dad because they could not watch anything on tv. It would be two different games also. It was like being at some type of radio station that played on two different stations. I do not know how to describe it. That is funny that Jenny does not know that much about football. Maybe she did not pay that much attention to the game when she was cheering. Maybe Jenny liked that foot ball players more then the game.lol
That is interesting about Greg’s dad. He must have been a good boxer. That would be interesting to see him do all the rope tricks and all of that. They can do all kinds of rope jumping when they are getting ready for a fight. I guess that strengthens the legs.
It is hard to get started on a big job like that. When you get it all done it will look so good though. I guess after so long we all need to do some changing in our houses. We need to take the carpet out of the dining room and put a wood floor down. We have talked about that since we started having grands. Still not done or the bathroom.
I hope that your neighbors daffodils come up again this year. They would be so pretty and I know that you enjoy seeing them in the spring. Maybe the snow that you had will help to keep them growing really pretty.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I think that we all look at things different now that we are older. When we are younger we think that we can do anything and the older we get the more that we realize that we cannot.lol
That is a good way to do things with the carbs. I like garlic bread with pasta. We have that a lot. I always do the butter and garlic myself do not like to buy the bread that is already and all you have to do is pop it in the oven. It never tastes as good. I guess because my mom and grandma always did it that way so do I. I am still having trouble with broth in soups. I hope that it goes away soon.
That is nice that they still had the parade today even in the bad weather. People always seem to come out for those things no matter what the weather. It is nice that they show support for their team. I wonder how many people turned their tvs off when they thought the Patriots were going to lose. Bet they feel silly now for now watching the whole game. Pat Dementry said that she did the same thing. She went to be and the pats were losing and when she got up they won. I think that I spelled her name right. She does the Morning Show withe Jane the style one.
That is so sad when they take your favorite dish off the menu. They do that a lot at Applebees. I wonder why they do that. It is nice to add dishes that are new but keep the ones that are popular so you know what to get when you go there. We use to like their lunch menu. The soup and sandwich it was really good or you could have soup and a salad. Their tomato soup was really good.
You are doing much better at cleaning out your closets then I am. They say that you should take out the clothes that you have not worn for a year. Can’t help but think that I may want to wear that again soon. Never do but you never know. Salvation army is a good place to donate. They are really good at helping people. You always hear good things about them.
The girls are doing fine.So are the grands. My daughter Melissa’s husband comes homes Thursday from Korea. The kids are so excited to see their dad. They are having a home coming party for him on Saturday. We will go and bring a Mexican dip for them to eat. She needed me to bring some snacks and soda for the party. They usually want that and Ron to make his shrimp salad. He will not make that and take it to her house it has to be refrigerated and that is too far to take in the car. It will be good to see him again.
Tillie will be so happy with the gifts that you have for her. That is a really nice Mother’s day gift. You are thinking ahead this year. I have not idea what to get my mom.
Christine is home now. She came home yesterday late. She will probably e-mail you herself she was getting caught up on her e-mails today. She has to stay in bed for awhile and has nurses come to see her twice a day. She will have to do what the doctor says with them being there. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have good night.

      Hi Colleen,
I’m glad to hear that Christine is back home and has a nurse coming in twice a day. You are right-I wish they could have helped her foot and eye while she was in the hospital too. I hope Patch will be a good boy for her while she is recuperating.
Ron had the house like a sports bar with all the different games going on when your kids were growing up. We had to go to the bar in Chili’s to watch the Bears game when we were in New Mexico as they had a bunch of TV’s in there with all the different games-so people would come in and get their tables facing whichever game that they were there to watch. It was kind of fun except the chairs were really hard on the butt after three hours watching the game. I’m used to watching from my comfy couch.
We want to do the same as you-tear up the carpet in the dining room and put down wood in there too as we already have it in the kitchen. It is hard to decide when to get a big project started as you know things will be all messed up for awhile.
I’m so glad that Stephen is finally coming home tomorrow. Melissa and the kids must be so excited. it’s really something to celebrate. So now I’m curious-how does Ron make his shrimp salad? I like shrimp salad but there are so many different ways of making it so I wondered what he does. Could he put it in a cooler with lots of ice when you make the trip there? In any case it will be a great welcome home party. Will any of your other daughters be able to go? I bet Stephen will have a lot to talk about.

      Hi Adele,
We don’t have Friendly’s around here. Is that similar to an Applebees?
That’s funny that you and Heather can wear the same shoes-so can Jenny and I. I have given her shoes and boots that I don’t wear anymore. Plus now I am giving her a lot of my leather handbags that are just either too big or too heavy for me anymore. She loves that as I have a pretty nice purse collection.
When you were talking about your hair being white down the middle all I could think about was a skunk. So I don’t blame you for growing it out as no one likes to look like a skunk walking around. That’s amazing that your hair would hold the color for such a short time. It made it not even worth coloring.
I hope you didn’t cancel that PT appointment for today as I saw this morning that you have warm weather today and snow tomorrow. What an odd winter this has been all around the country.
Greg goes tomorrow for more back shots so I will have to be up early to drive him.
His business partner was supposed to have back surgery this week but when doing the pre op tests they found something with his heart so now he needs more tests. I hope everything will be okay and they can go forward and fix his back. He his a huge skier-they even live in Sun Valley Idaho so he can ski all the time and he has not been able to go this year because of the back trouble. You would think someone in such good physical shape as he is wouldn’t have problems but I guess it just shows as we age things just tend to break down even if we are in the best of shape.
I hope the shots do better for Greg this time as I know he is uncomfortable so much of the time and he rarely complains but I know it wears on him.
He did finally get his new bike and when it was 50 degrees the other day he even had a chance to try it out.
I saw Gronk in the parade chugging beers that people were throwing to him. He is a character.
Stay in tomorrow and stay safe and warm.

      Hey Gail!
OMG- poor Greg. I hope the shot today helps his pain. From all my shot experience, here is the low down, according to Adele. If the shot is going to work, it will right away. if it does not, you are ready for surgery. That is what I have experienced over the years. so, I am saying a prayer that Greg’s shot works. I know what he is going through, as that has been my life for a while. It gets old, and you get disgusted every once in a while.
That is hysterical about our Gronky. I watched the parade, and did not see the beer incident. I dd see the crazy man with no shirt on. he is quite the character, and then on the other side, he does so much charity work with kids, it is amazing. His personality fills up the whole room. He is my favorite. Even though I love you, you cannot have my Gronky. (I am the only one who calls him Gronky) Gary always yells to me when he is on a commercial….your Gronky is on again….LOL
Oh no, not a skunk. I looked like a witch, because the white was all over the top of my head. I have gotten used to the curls all in white. if I was good at taking a selfie, I would try to get one of all the longer curls. I took one, so I will send it to you all….LOL All I could get was the top of my head.
The Denim and co crops came yesterday, and fit fine- perfect length. So, i got a couple of knit ones. I did not know I ordered regular fabric, but them seem comfy enough.
I purged my purses a long time ago,and Heather got those too. Are we not the funny ladies! I only carry a wristlet, as anything bigger hurts my hands and wrists. How sad is that!
I hope Greg’s partner can have the surgery, and that the heart issue is not a bad one.
Friendly’s is a real family restaurant, where everyone takes their little ones. They started out an an ice cream parlor, and then turned into restaurants. They sell the ice cream at the supermarkets- do you have Friendly’s ice cream in your area?
My PT was yesterday, so I had to change it- we got 3 inches of snow, and then ice over that. Last night it rained, and it made a mess. The next town over had a 50 car pile-up and on the other side of us, a school bus had an accident. Jhonny took JJ to school today, as it was his day off. He has Durango. Not that ice matters with anything you drive. But, I think Saugus’ roads were done betetr than the towns around us. I am sure there will be no school tomorrow. I made the executive decision to close the business for deliveries tomorrow, and Frankie will work on Friday instead. We do not deliver on Friday’s, so this will be different. I do not want the liability of Frankie on the road tomorrow.
      Hope all is well there!

      Hey Colleen!
So glad Christine is home. She did a quick email to me yesterday. I hope they also looked at her foot while she was there. What she goes through with health care is criminal. Just awful.
That is fabulous that Melissa’s husband is due home. You must all be thrilled. It sounds like a wonderful party is planned. Which sparkly Quacker will yo wear- something red/white/blue to celebrate his service?
Is Ron’s shrimp scald a favorite of everyone? It sounds yummy. I used to love shrimp, until I found out I was allergic to shellfish. I remember how good it tasted. Then, I would get very sick, and blame it on everything else, until I ended up in the ER with hives all over me, and was told if I continued to eat shellfish, my throat would close. That was it for me.
Well, Tillie wanted to try her pants on, so she could get more of them, so I let her. I told her she needs to give them back to me, unless she is having a capri emergency….LOL
Read my post to Gail for all the snow info. We will be in a huge mess here tomorrow.
Did you see Tom Selleck on the late shows the last few nights? He is such a low key, nice man.
Glad all the kids and grands are good. I love good news.
how has your belly been lately? Do you have an appointment yet?
Hope your day is going well!

      Hey Adele,
I didn’t know that you could stand on your head. That reminds me of Colleen’s old picture on here that had her flying sideways.
Sue and DD were on a few days back. Barbara often has long spells between postings-I’m sure we’ll hear from everyone soon.
Jenny has been having a problem with her hip lately. We thought it was because she is a runner. Now she just e-mailed me and said she went to the doctor and they said she has scoliosis. I know they always checked for that in grade school and I think the pediatrician used to check too so that surprises me. I’m wondering if it isn’t some sort of arthritis. She said they took an x-ray so we’ll see what that shows. It’s always something!

Barbara sent me a private message on Facebook, and I am surprised I was able to answer, as I am having one hell of a time with Facbook access.
She said she has lots to tell us, her computer is acting up and she cannot get into Quacker. Neal’s car got broken into and all his personal information was in it, as he had all the new apartment info in his car. She is very worried.

      Gailster…..

      How old is Jenny?
When I was in my late 40’s, or early 50’s, they discovered the 2 curves in my back. My lower curve is real bad, and that is where they did the 2 repairs.
I pray she has a curve that is minor.
Let me put it this way, when Steph saw the xray of my back, here was her response…..”ewe”. Did not look good, to even the untrained eye. I am hoping hers is barely visible.

      Hi Ladies,
I’m alive. I hope everyone’s okay. We’re having wave after wave of rain. At first they said it was gonna be snow again, but it didn’t happen down here, but in the higher elevations around here. Now it’s land & mudslides that are causing problems. If it isn’t one thing it’s another.
I haven’t read all the posts but I did see one that caught my eye. I saw the word scoliosis. I have it. It’s curvature of the spine. It’s caused when one or more of the vertebrae aren’t in align with the rest of the spine, causing the curvature. I heard about surgery to correct it but then I heard horror stories about the outcome. so I’d do my research on it. When I first read about it in the 80s they would hook a rod onto the spine causing the spine to straighten up. Then you’d be in a body cast for months. I’m sure that isn’t the case now. I’m sure they’ve gotten better technology now. They probably use braces now Do a lot of research on it. I didn’t have the internet back then. I’m just lucky I was able to do the open heart surgery when I did & live to tell the story.
Adele, congrats to the Pats. I went over to Kay’s & we had Chinese delivered. It was funny, she had on the colors of the Pats, & I had the colors of the Falcons on, & we didn’t plan it that way. I didn’t care one way or the other, really. Since Seattle wasn’t in it, it didn’t matter. So after half time I left cause it was a blow out at that point. I guess I missed the best part of the game. Anyway congrats.

I went downstairs to put $ on my laundry card & found a dude sound asleep in a sleeping bag in there. I went to get management & she took care of him. This was 1 in the afternoon!!! And we don’t need guards. Hellllloooooo.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.

      Take care

Well Colleen you can come get this snow and I am sure Adele will gladly give you hers too. I sure don’t want it. I am ready to go back to bed. I was out shoveling this morning, made egg salad and am now doing the wash. Do not have the stamina I use too.
I saw Christine was complaining on Face book that she does not like the nurses coming. She is never happy. They do have good care there as my friend lives in Scotland and she and her husband get great care. I was questioning about it not being good as to what Christine said but she said they have access to good care and if they don’t want that they can have private pay care. Sometimes when it is not am emergency you have to wait a bit. Christine needs to go to a foot doctor for her heel spurs. I told her as I have them in both heels. I read they were sending her to one but she said she wasn’t going to go. She needs a foot doctor to put a shot in the exact spot. I had a shot that did not work so went to another doctor and he explained it all and gave me another shot and it worked. Best is to stay off your feet as much as possible until they are not so sore. They won’t go away. My friend over there had surgery on her foot for another reason and so I know they have doctors that help.

      Hey Sue!
Glad to know you are not completely under snow down there. It is still snowing like crazy up here, and they are saying it is a blizzard for most of Mass. I guess they verify the blizzard after the storm is all over.
I am just doing a simple baked chicken, with sweet and red potatoes, as Tillie and I like sweet potatoes. I will just add a frozen veggie, and I am done for the day.
I think it may be Christine’s doctors. She has been waiting and waiting for appointments for the foot, and referrals to an ortho doctor. I think (not sure if I have this i right as it was a bit ago) they took an extremely long time to even get an xray for her. the foot issue has been going on for over a year, and she recently finally got the referral she needed. I also think they did do a shot, but it did not have much of an affect on anything.
Not sure if it makes a difference in care between Scotland and England??? I have absolutely no information on that question.
I hope your snow has stopped. Ours is supposed to stop around 8 pm tonight. My friend in RI already lost a hige tree limb. So far, we are ok.
      Stay safe and warm!!

      OMG DD!!
I am so glad he was not awake. You just never know if someone is just looking for a warm spot, or if they are dangerous. Please be careful. I hope you and your friends can convince the management there that you do need a guard.
If you see the news tonight, you will see we are in a blizzard up here. I still prefer a blizzard to the damage rain can do. Veyr scary, and I hope your weather will get better.
My laptop is acting funny, so I will make this quick- hope we are not losing electricity.
they did do those body casts when we were younger. I am not sure what they do now. My curves are the source of all my back issues, and where the discs deteriorated.
hope you are good- better sign off so I do not lose this!

Hello everyone. I will surely try to get this note off to you all before this thing kicks me off. We have had lots going on. Jerrys Mom is in the hospital. She went to stand up and just sort of collapsed back into the chair and had a fainty spell. They called 911 and when the ambulance got there she was much better. We had been out ot visit her just the day before and I didn;t notice anything different about her. The paramedics talked to us on the phone since we were at Neals helping Sarah get some things packed up, and long story short the left and about 30 minutes later she went to the bathroom and the aide smelled blood and saw where she was passing some. They called the ambulance back, and we told them we wanted her taken on to the hospital for sure. We met them at the hospital, and spent most of the night there. She is very anemic, and it looks like it is from stomach ulcer. Jerry was so nervous I thought he was going to have to be admitted. He wouldn’t leave her; but the nurse told us to go on home after we had talked to the doctor, who said he was going to give her some blood, some iv anitbiotics and some fluids. We were back early today, and she seems to be doing some better. THe doctor said she does have an infection, and some bleeding from her stomach, but he feels he can get her back feeling much better soon. Jerry is just exhausted. It was so strange that you all have been talking about back problems. He has rods up both sides of his spine, and it hurts him so badly to sit in a straight backed chair. So we are doing this, and DD, our son Neal is on the Pacific coast of California, and it has been raining so much there that the other workers have accused him of bringing the rain with him, but they are glad to replinish the water supply. He also has had a problem with a man just hanging around his extended stay hotel where he is now until he can get the apartment for them. He had his passenger window broken out and his paperwork (personal and work related) stolen the other night. I am so afraid for him, and his little family that is about to join him there.
I surely hope you all can clear out the storms you are having soon. It is like we are all having such extremes this winter. we had terrible thunderstorms here a few nights ago with lots of hail and strong winds. And now I hear you all are under lots of snow and blizzards. So sorry. Stay safe everyone.
Must close for now and check on Jerrys Mom. This has been quite a week. Goodnight everyone. Barbara

      Hi Gail,
It is nice that Stephen is home now. I have not heard from Melissa today but probably hear from her tomorrow. She will have to call and let us know that he is home and about the kids. It will be nice to see everyone on Saturday and finally have a family gathering with Stephen there.
Ron had the house like something. It was a real pain. The kids were unhappy with him and he was unhappy with the girls and me. He wanted me to keep them entertained. You can only play board games for so long and then they want to do something else. Shopping was not always a good idea because they always wanted something and that can get expensive. My middle daughter did not like to window shop.
Do you remember that Cajun cook that use to come on TV all the time. It has been a few years back. I think that his name was Justin Wilson that is where he got the recipe. It has a lot of shrimp and pasta and all kind of spices. I will find it and post it on here tomorrow. He made it for Melissa’s wedding reception. It was a small gathering and it was at Danyielle’s house. So he made that and I made chicken salad and other finger food. I cannot remember what all we made. That has been awhile.
How is Greg doing with the shots to his back? I hope that he is doing okay and his back is starting to feel a little better. I think that there have been a few of us on here that have had to have shots in our backs.
I love handbags also. It is just a shame that as we get older that bigger ones just do not work for us anymore. They get too heavy if we put much in them. I have a few purses that I do not use anymore also. Have given some to Brook she loves purses.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
Has your hair always been curly? It looks pretty good. I am impressed that you can stand on your head and take a selfie. You are very talented. I was just sideways for a long time. I would like to take the credit for getting it straight but James did that when they did the new site.
That must have been a mess with the snow and ice. That is scary about the 50 car pile up. I hope that no one was hurt. Are you still getting more snow? We have not gotten any. Every time that they say we are going to get snow it goes around us. They had some in St. Louis but it did not make it this far down. We still have a month and a half that we could get some snow. It would be nice to have snow but no ice that is always a mess when we get the ice.
I am going to wear a shirt that is short sleeved that has a flag on the side. It was one of the tops that was two in a pack. You got the navy with the flag and a red one. Will have to wear a jacket with it so I do not freeze. It is supposed to be in the sixties on Saturday so it will not be too bad. Our weather is crazy. It is in the 20’s for a couple of days and then it warms up to the sixties. You never know how to dress.
Shell fish is the only type of fish that I like. If I ever become allergic to it I will be in trouble. I love Red Lobster they are having their Lobster fest this month. We may go there for Valentines day. We go the day after it is not as crowded that way. Do you have a Red Lobster up your way? It is a really good restaurant.
The way your weather is Tillie will not need her capris soon that is for sure. It is nice that she will wear them. My mom will not because she has the same knees that I have and it embarrasses her to show them even if the capris hide her knees. She gets funnier the older she gets.
My belly is okay just waiting to get all these bills straightened out before I make another appointment. At least we found Dr. Taylor. It is funny that everyone was looking in Cape and he was in St. Louis.
Well that is all from here. Have a good night.
      Colleen
p.s. I have a lot of denim and co. also and they are really nice. They will wear forever just like Quacker.

      Hi DD,
What a mess with all the landslides. That must be horrible for everyone. It is hard to decide which would have been better the snow slowing everything down or the rain and the landslides. Hope everyone is okay and no one has gotten hurt.
That would be scary to find someone laying in the floor in a sleeping bag. I agree with Adele it is good that he was still sleeping. It sounds like you really do need a guard there to keep people like that out of the building. Some nut could come in there and hurt someone. Hope they threw that guy out and had the police come and get him.
I really like the pictures that you posted. Especially the one with the cat on the wall and the other standing down below looking at each other. The flowers are so pretty. At least we can look at the flowers that you post and just think about spring coming.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
I am sorry to hear about Jerry’s mom. It is a good thing that the nurse noticed that she was bleeding. The place that you have her in a such a good place. We will say a prayer for her and that she comes home soon and everything is alright. That has to be hard on Jerry to leave her in the hospital. That was good that the nurse told him to go home. He could not have done much for her she had all the help that she needed
That is not good that the guy got into his care and stole all that information. I hope that he called the police and told them about the guy that had been hanging around the hotel. Hopefully they will have gotten rid of him before the baby and Sarah get there. It is nice that you and Jerry are helping with the packing. That is a lot of work for her. Hope that they get it to their apartment there or have a good storage place for it. How is Colin doing. I bet he is really growing.
Jerry’s mom is lucky that you and Jerry are taking care of her now. Does not seem like Jerry’s brothers were going to do much for her. Jerry has made sure that she has been taken care of and is living in a really good place. Which you had a lot to do with also.
Hope that the storms leave your area soon.We have not been much in the way of storm or snow. This winter has been so strange.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Sue,
I would gladly take some of the snow that you and Adele are getting. Ron has all the equipment to clear the drive and clear a path to the house. The people on our road are good about clearing the road so it can be traveled on. They do that until the snow plows can come and clear it.
I guess it depends on where you live as to what kind of care that you get in England. Christine has been to several places for her foot and they do not seem to do anything for her. She did have a shot in the heal and it did not help. The doctor told her that they do not do surgery on the foot for spurs so I do not know what they will do for her. I just hope that she finds the doctors to help her.

      OMG Missy Barbara!
We will all start praying for Jerry’s Mom, and all of you. I am sure he was so frightened he was going to lose her.
Can Neal go to another place, until his apartment is ready? I know up here, those extended stay places are used a lot for clients, and sometimes they do not play well with others, as I like to nicely say. I hope his apartment will be ready soon. Did he put an alert on his credit report to try to protect himself? that is so scary to have your personal info stolen.
the storms all over have been scary, and they say we are not having global warming. Seriously? We had a blizzard that dumped about 12 to 14 inches over here. More tonight, and they are talking about a big storm on Monday. I guess out drought is over.
I am so sorry about all this going on for all of you. I hope everything gets resolved, and on the road to good health and good luck soon. You are all in my prayers.

      Hey Colleen!
So, Tillie wanted 2 more pairs of the capris, and I just got them on my account. SO, I have enough to cover her birthday, and Mothers Day. LOL
That will be a pretty shirt for the party. Layers always work for this crazy weather we are having. You could even do one of the Jean jackets.
That pile up was the day we got ice. then, yesterday, we had an actual blizzard. We have 12 to 14 inches on the ground. Tonight we are getting 2 to 3 more inches, and then another storm for Monday. We are getting bombarded, and we have had no snow to speak of all winter long. this will affect my lunch out with my buddies next week for sure.
I do like the denim and co crops. They are less expansive for around the house.
My hair has always been that curly. When I was a teenager, I ironed it. Remember those days? I also used those huge rollers to make it straight. I even tried that “:hair straightener”. I was thrilled when the Afros came into fashion.
So far, the only thing I lost was my red gazing ball- it is in the middle of the yard, and off the pedestal. i am hoping the next round of snow will cushion it until someone can get to it, before it breaks. I think it is made out of the same glass that the Christmas glass ornaments are made of. At lest it feels like it is.
Have a great time at the party. I bet the whole family is thrilled he is back home, all safe and sound.
      Have a good night!

      Hi Adele,
That is so nice that you got her two more pair of the capris. Tillie will really like that. It is so nice that she likes quacker clothes it makes it easy to buy for her.
I cannot believe that you are getting all that snow. We have not had any at all to speak of. We did have the ice though but that is long gone and it is in the sixties here. It is going to be that warm tomorrow also. So the kids will be able to play outside tomorrow at the party. It will not be as noisy. It will be so nice to have the whole family together for a change. Now if you want to send us some of that snow after this week-end we will gladly take some. I do not think that we need 14 inches though. That is a lot of snow. You usually get a lot of snow there don’t you. I wonder if Gail is getting any snow where she is. That did ruin your lunch out with your buddies. Maybe in a couple of weeks you all will be able to go out to eat.
I do remember people ironing their hair and those rollers. They were so hard to sleep on that is for sure. My hair is as straight as a board so never had to iron mine. It must have been really nice for you when the afros came out. It sure did help with having to iron your hair.
I hope that you find you gazing ball and it is still intact. That is the only bad thing about all that snow. It always does some type of damage. Hope that it does not hurt the trees like it did the last time around.
      Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen!
The good news is, you can now only see a small piece of red from the gazing ball. The bad news is, we got 6 more inches last night. More is on the way. The next storm will be a 2 day event, according to this mornings news- Sunday into Monday. then, another storm is coming for Wed and Thur. i would say I am grounded for a while.
I am making popovers tonight- a meatless supper that is very yummy- more eggs in them than flour. I have to do something to go with them. Maybe scrambled eggs….LOL
I hope you have a great time today, and that the weather cooperates for the kids to have fun outside.
I think Gail did get some snow, but, not much lately. Not sure if I have that right. I saw on the news that DD’s area is getting slammed with rain related disasters. I hope she is good, and all her friends are safe too. Not sure, but, I think Sue is getting similar weather to us up here.
We Quackers just have to keep sparking along to brighten everyone’s day!
      Have a great day!

Adele we were having the same weather as you but today we are warmed up to 51 degrees. It was freezing just yesterday. So the snow is melting. It is to just rain tomorrow then possibly more snow Wed. or Thur. Anyway I got out today for groceries and stocked my freezer so am set if we get more. I do have appts on Feb20th and March 2nd so I hope weather will be okay those days. I also walked down for my mail today. I did not get it for 3 days as I was afraid I would fall.
I got a chicken to roast tomorrow so that will provide me many meals. I will make a pot pie with some of the chicken. I wanted some chocolate covered strawberries but they did not have any must have sold out. They had strawberries buy one get one free so I got those and will have to melt chocolate and do them myself.
Here is a funny one the store had no milk. People must think we are getting snow instead of rain tomorrow. I did not need bread so I don’t know how much of that they had.

      Hi Adele,
Why is it that people that would like to have some snow do not get it and others just get more then their share.lol You really have a lot of snow there. You will be trapped in the house for awhile. That is what is really bad about getting that much snow it is hard to get out and about. That is a lot of snow coming your way. It was almost 71 today here It was nice because the kids got to play outside and we all got to sit outside with them.
We did have a great time today. I took Aliza to the park across the street from their apartment. She had a good time. They have slides and things to climb on but no swings. I was surprised that they do not have swings. She still had a good time and I got a lot of exercise. She walked around and around the play area and I had to be right behind her. She finally got so tired and thirsty that she started crying so we went back to the apartment and she sat down for a long time. We really had some good food. They made mac and cheese, ribs and pulled pork. They did a really good job with that. Melissa and Stephen both did the cooking. This was funny. We were at the park and I was watching the little girls doing their tricks for me and they started playing the bugle cannot remember what they were playing but they were taking the flag down. So the girls were still showing me their tricks when the boy hollered at me to put my hand on my heart and not to talk anymore til it was done. I had not idea that you did that if you were not in the area where the flag is at but there you do. If you are a soldier you can get into trouble if you do not do it. I guess the kids feel that they should be doing it also. So now I will know that I have to put my hand on my heart when they play that again.
I think that Gail did get some snow but do not know if they are getting any now. I did not see what was going on in her area I think that it might be rain. Sounded like Sue is getting snow also. Poor DD hope that she is okay. I do not think that she lives in an area that is effected. I am not sure about her friends that she went to see for Christmas.
Got a lot of compliments from the kids that I was watching in the park. They liked my shirt but they did tell me that it was not correct because there is some pink in the flag. But it was okay because it sparkles and the one little girl said that she liked to sparkle also.
That is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Sue!
I am so glad you are ok. We got the one day of almost 60, after the first snow storm, but, then it dropped that night, and we got the blizzard the next day. it has been snowing since we got up. this will be a 2 day event. We have all our groceries, thank God. Gary even went to CVS yesterday and got more Alleve….LOL
We are having prime rib today. We cut some off the roast on Christmas, and froze it, so we are cooking it today. It is just enough for the 4 of us. Yesterday, I made popovers for supper….LOL They do have a lot of protein,a s they are mostly egg and milk.
Gary is sick, so I think I will have to do a soup tomorrow.
That is awful about your mail. Ours is at the end of our driveway, and if it is slippery, we cannot get to it either. But, I have Bobby here, who is way more sure footed than we are. Bobby fell snow blowing the other night, and hurt his hip. he said it feels better today.
I can smell that delicious chicken roasting….yum, yum!
Here is a good one for you. When we used to snowmobile, we went to this bed and breakfast way up in Maine, and it was a long ride for groceries. They used to buy their milk, and cream, and freeze it, and take it out as needed. It did not taste bad, so that may help you in an emergency, if you get a small bottle, and freeze it for yourself.
Hope you are warm and cozy! Stay safe!

That is so cute about the comments you got on your shirt. I love it when someone comments on my Quacker, and then see how amazed they are, when I say where I got them.
I told Gary I am grounded. God only knows when I will be able to go out again. After I finish getting everything together for the taxes, i will just do needlepoint. I ordered a pretty new picture i got half price at Joanne Fabrics. I better hurry and finish the big one I have been doing on and off for the last few years….LOL
You had a great party. the food sounded fabulous. How nice that everyone made their special dishes. That is so nice that the kids are so patriotic. It gives you hope for the future. They must be thrilled their Dad is back home. So happy he is safe and sound.
I have to go do more tax prep…..
      Stay warm!

Adele I heard you are to get hit bigtime with the snow. I think we need to move south somewhere warm with no snow. Maybe we could get places next door to each other then we could share our goodies.

Hello everyonel Colleen, your party for Stephen sounds like you all had so much fun. And that was so sweet about your getting a patriotic lesson from a child. I am glad they liked your Quacker. Even little ones love the sparkle. I know Colin does. HIs little eyes just light up. Hope your weather is getting better Sue and Adele. You all have had such a hard time this winter. And then DD has been having that crazy ice/rain/ice thing going on. And we actually opened our windows yesterday to air out the house bacause it was so beautiful and I love to air out the house whenever I can. But we are to get cold again I think tomorrow so back again for us. LOL
Jerrys Mom is still in the hospital. THey have been so good to her, and keep us updated really well. THey have begun to let her have clear fluids today; and gave her another unit of blood yesterday. They did explain to us that they had to restrain her wrists last night because she pulled her IV out 4 times; so she is pretty buised today from them restarting the IVs. She bruises so easily. But she is in a really good mood today; so we know she is feeling better. The nurse said she knows it is because she has those memory problems that is why she kept pulling the IV out. I wish we could just keep her blood count up. Jerry will be talking with the social worker tomorrow and that will help us know a lot more. Thank you for your prayers.
I loved the evening quacker show. I did get the flower duet in lavender, I love that color but I don’t see it very often. They had so many pretty things, but I have to pace myself.
I have been so sleepy all day. And I got a good nights rest last night. I think we have just been on the move too much here lately and it has caught up on us. Jerry said for me to stay home today and he would go visit his Mom by himself. I hated to have him go alone, but it surely feels good just to be sitting here and not walking through that big hospital. He will be tired when he gets in. We are doing the veggies and dip, cheese and crackers thing tonight. Neither of us are real hungry tonight; but that may change LOL
We really don’t get to see a lot of itty bitty. Sarah has moved back in with her parents. She is supposed to leave in about two weeks to meet Neal. I have such mixed feelings about so many things that I just try to push them to the ” I will think of this tomorrow” part of my mind. I think she should have been with him from the time he went to Calif. but that was not our decision. I have done everything I can think of to try to show our love for her and the baby; but we just don’t seem to “jive” and it really hurts me and Jerry. I will always think that the fact that our son has been away for all this time that this is part of the reason, but who knows? I know we just cherish every single moment that we have with the baby; but will be so happy for them to be together, like they should be.
Take care everyone. Hope you have a good week ahead. Barbara

      Hi Barbara,
It is so good to hear that Jerry’s mom is feeling better. That must have been rough on her pulling that IV out and having to have it put back in so many times. Those nurses do sound like they are really good. Is she in the hospital that you use to work at? It seems like the care in the southern states are much better then in other parts of the country. Will keep praying for her and that she gets to go back home soon or to the facility where she is staying.
I have not seen the Quacker shows yet but will watch them later. I have them on the dvr. The top that you bought sounds really pretty. Do not know if I will order anything or not. Have all these stupid hospital bills to get straightened out first.
It was probably a good thing that you stayed home and got some rest. That really does tire a person out having to go to the hospital just about everyday. You have been worrying about Jerry’s mom also and that can tire you out also. Hope you had a good nap while Jerry was at the hospital you deserved one.
Are you going to invite Sarah and the baby over for dinner or something. That will give you more time with the baby and give you more time with Sarah. Is she still working or did she quit? It is getting so close to time for her to go to California it is probably better if she quit working for awhile.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
The kids that live on the base are so much different then kids that go to a regular school. They do have a lot of respect for their country and for their parents that serve in the Army. It is just amazing how they behave and that Owen was right in there with them. I think that he is learning a lot from those kids. They are all pretty close also. I guess because they all are going thru the same things.
You are really getting a lot of snow. It was colder today but not as cold as it is where you are. I do not think that snow is in our immediate future. It is supposed to be in the 40’s and 50’s all week. We have years where we get a lot of snow and then this year not hardly any. Missouri is a state where you do not know from one day to the next.lol
The prime rib that you are having for dinner tonight sounds good. Your popovers that you had last night sound good also. We just had sandwiches and french fries for dinner tonight. We ate too much yesterday and did not want much today.
I am sorry to hear that Gary is sick. Is it the flu or just the weather getting to him? Hope that it is not the flu that is so miserable when you catch that. It seems like there are so many different types going around this year.
Well that is about it from here. Have a great night.

Sue, hope that you do not get any of the snow like Adele is getting. It is a good thing that you got out and bought groceries just in case. Your chicken that you are making sounds really good. Chicken pot pies are so good on a gloomy cold day.
      Enjoy your chocolate covered strawberries.

      Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note to let ya know I’m okay. Our weather has calmed down quite abit this weekend. The temps were in the low 50s which is fine with me.
We had 58 on Thurs. but it was a pineapple express bringing a ton of rain. We’re supposed to get another one later this week. I made good on the good weather by getting out Sat., & Monday I plan to get out again. I’ve had a bad case of cabin fever, as I’m sure all of you have. The window where we could get snow is getting smaller by the day. the mts will still get it but we won’t….I hope!!

I got to catch both QF shows this weekend. Soooo many cute things. I wanted all of the striped tops with the critters on them. The lavender with the blue butterflies, red with lady bugs, etc. And the patriotic tops, wildflower tops, all of em!! Only in my dreams.
All your dinners/meals sounded so wonderful. I love prime rib.
Have you heard about the 4 month old baby that was prevented from coming to America due to the travel ban? Well, she’s here in Portland’s Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) & she’ll get her heart surgery sometime this week. I was ready to go to DC myself to get her over here. (Not that I think they’d listen to me, lol)!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day.
      Have a great week!

      Hey Sue!
We are both getting slammed. Right now, the snow has stopped, but the wind has picked up. I am hoping I will not lose any trees. No schools for anyone in all of Mass again- that makes 3 days in a row, and vacation is next week.
Wouldn’t it be great, if we all lived in the same neighborhood? What fun we could have.
I missed the shows yesterday, so I will try to see them on line. Did you get anything pretty?
Hope your weather is better, because it comes up here later…..LOL

      Hello Everyone,
Sue, the pot pie and chocolate strawberries sound good. Jenny usually makes me some chocolate covered strawberries for Mother’s Day. I love pot pie but have never actually made a homemade one-shame on me! lol
DD-that would freak me out to find the guy sleeping downstairs in the building. I’m glad they quickly got rid of him.
I saw the story about that baby that needed surgery. I’m so glad that she was able to come into the country and get it. I hope she has a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. I’m glad that you got out a little. I too get cabin fever after too much time inside.
Barbara, I’m glad to hear Jerry’s Mom is improving. That’s awful about Neal’s car being broken into.
I’m so sorry that Sarah doesn’t seem to “get” how you guys feel about the move and doesn’t seem to be doing all that she can to let you see as much of Colin as possible right now. Sometimes, it seems to me, young people just don’t understand-and perhaps I was the same way at that age. I understand the “I’ll think about it tomorrow” idea-some things are just too painful to take in all at once. I will pray that some day Neal will get an assignment closer to you and Jerry. In the meantime maybe you can set up a time to Skype once a week or something with Neal and Sarah and Colin. We have friends who have their children and grandchildren in California and that’s what they do to keep in contact.
Colleen, I remember watching Justin Wilson. He was fun to watch. Greg likes to make his own jambalaya. I won’t eat it as I can’t stand the smell-in fact when he makes it it stinks up the whole house.
We really have not had much snow. We got a lot in November and December and this week we are supposed to have 50’s on the weekend.
Sounds like you had a great time at the Welcome Home party for Stephen. How long does it take you to get to the base? I’m glad the kids were there to give you a lesson in flag etiquette. lol I’m glad they all liked the sparkly flag shirt. Sparkles are good!
So far Greg says the shot hasn’t done much. His biggest problem is the numb feet so he was having bloodwork done this morning as he had a physical on Friday. His business partner is having back surgery on Thursday so I hope that goes well for him.
Adele, what’s up with your weather today? I hope Bobby is okay after his fall. Even the younger people aren’t immune.
I hope Gary is feeling better too.
Jenny is only 34 so hopefully she doesn’t have any degenerative spine arthritis yet. I think the scoliosis is pretty minimal right now. She hasn’t heard back from the pain doctor yet. I wish Greg had gone to the one that she did-he doesn’t really like the one that he got sent to as he feels like she doesn’t listen or explain things and is always in a hurry to leave. At least he got to discuss a lot of his concerns with our family doctor when he went in for his physical.
I’m glad that you liked the Denim and Co. pants. I wear their long knit ones all the time around the house in the winter and the knit shorts around the house in the summer. I really like the shorts as the inseam is long and they come to my knees.
I remember people also using orange juice cans to set their hair too back in the sixties. It’s funny my hair always had a tiny wave and now the older I get the curlier it is getting. My hairdresser says that is sometimes caused by the excess of the medications that you take coming out through your hair, nails and something else. That sounds sort of unbelievable-I will have to ask a doctor if that is true. Did anyone else ever hear of this?
So this weekend Greg says to me i think we should go back to the furniture store and order that furniture and not wait until we are ready for the new carpeting and floors as i am afraid you will change your mind since you picked out two things that I really like and i never thought i would get the chance to have them. Here’s the story. I picked out a high topped kitchen table as I liked the color combination and the quality as it is Amish made. I normally will never sit at those tables as they are too high in the restaurants or bars but these kitchen ones are not that high and i just fell in love with the style and the finish. Also I never liked leather furniture and he always wanted a leather couch. Now he only ever sits in his recliner which is leather anyway but the couch and loveseat or other chair has always been fabric. I always think leather is too slippery and too cold-or sticky in the summer. Anyway, I saw this blueish grayish leather couch and it was really comfy and i loved the color so I picked that out and he couldn’t believe it. So anyway-he wanted to go back and get the stuff on order so i couldn’t change my mind. lol So that’s what we ended up doing. While we were out i also wanted to replace the throw rug that i have in the master bath. It’s so hard to replace it as it has latex backing like a regular bath mat but it is 5 by 8-and most rugs that size do not come with a rubber back but because it is on a ceramic floor in a bathroom I wanted one that wouldn’t matter if it got a little water dripped on it. it was hard to find the original one that I had in there and it was hard to find one now. it’s hard to buy online because even though some say they have latex backs they are not non skid-you really have to be able to feel and look at the back. We finally found one in Bed Bath and Beyond. You don’t have much of a choice of color or pattern but this one will do the trick. I forgot how much i love going in there and looking at their kitchen gadgets since i have been doing so much online shopping the last couple of years. I guess I do still like to browse-I just can’t do it for as long.
Anyway, that’s the story of how I got the new furniture sooner than expected. Hopefully Jenny will want our old stuff for their newly completed basement family room.

      Hi Barbara
So nice to hear from you.
That is awful about Jerry’s Mom. To have to restrain her is simply not right. I know with my Mom that she bruises so easily, she would be a mess if the had to do IV’s again and again, and restrain her. I feel so bad for Jerry seeing her like that. Please let him know that Tillie bruises so easily, and it looks like someone killed her, for just a small bang into something. her skin gets black, and then it stay for a long time. Tillie is 90.
I missed the Quacker shows, and I have tried to get on the Q,and could not. the computer is very slow and weird today. I will try again, after I finish this answer to you.
Gary is sick. he has a bad cold, and I am hoping it will not go to his chest. i am making him chicken soup today.
We got 12 inches, then another 6, and then yesterday and this am, another 9. That makes 27. I will not be going anywhere for a while…LOL I will have to amuse myself at home.
I am so terribly sorry you have not seen your Itty Bitty before she moves to California. It is so hard dealing with a DIL, when you are the Mom of the boys. I am hoping that when they all get together, your son will skype you, or face time you, so you can enjoy seeing the baby. I wish I had a magic solution for you. We will all continue to pray, as that is all we can do from here.
Love you, Missy Barbara! Any child would be so lucky to have you as thier Nana.

      Hi Gail!
Congrats on your new furniture. the color of the couch sounds lovely. You will have to take a pic when it gets delivered, so we can all see.
I took put all the rugs in the bathroom one day, when i got a tude. I was so sick of washing them all the time. Now, we put down the tub mat (towel, really) every time we take a tubby. They all complained for a bit, and then they got over it.
Have you ever tired J C Penny for bathroom rugs? They will have all kind sin the larger size on line, or in their catalog. but, I do not think they send catalogs out anymore. My rugs were also larger, and covered the entire floor, so I know what you mean. I even had one that was a runner that fit almost the entire length of the bathroom in the half bath.
I am so sorry to hear the shots are not working for Greg. That is not good. We will say a prayer that he gets good news from his doctor, and it will not have to be surgery.
I am glad Jenny’s curve is no bad. What will they do to minimize any damage/pain for her back? It sounds like she has a doctor you like, and listens to her, and that is really good.
i am waiting for the soup to finish cooking, so I can de-bone the chicken. Only one more thing to do for dinner- boil the soup noodles. Yeah!
Hope your day is going well, and you find all the things you need for the new look you are going for.

      Hey Sue!
i forgot to say, that I also love the chocolate covered strawberries. I used to make them too, once in a while. How are the strawberries down there? they were so bad at our supermarket up here, Bobby did not buy any this week. I was wondering if it was our area, or everyone.
I wanted to ask which kind of chocolate you use for the strawberries- do you get the one in the produce isle, or use any kind? I have used both, and i am not sure which one I like best.
I wish I had some strawberries to dip….LOL Maybe next week. They are a nice thing to have for Valentine’s Day.
We love chicken pot pies too. We have a great place up here that makes them, and then you make them yourself. But they are always betetr when you make them yourself. I hope you enjoy yours.
      HAve a good day!

      Hi Colleen
I am amazed to say this, but, Gary’s cold seems better today. I am so glad, and hope it continues to get better. I did make a pot of chicken soup today, so that should help too.
I would imagine the kids on the base are more respectful. They know the price they pay every day for freedom, and the value of the flag. I wish everyone in this country realized that. Our service men and women give so much, and they deserve respect, as well as this country, and the flag do. I used to be one of those kids when we were in Germany. I know I told you a while ago that my Dad was a career Army man.
I do not blame you for eating light the day after the big party. We do the same thing here, as you just cannot eat so much every day. So glad you had a great time, and thrilled your daughter’s family is all back together. I hope he does not get deployed for a long time.
      Have a great night!

      Hi DD!
We did not hear about that poor baby over here. I am so glad she was able to come. So many people come for medical services, and then go home again. We have the best care, and many countries are not so lucky.
I am glad you got to go out. I will be in for quite a while. I cancelled our lunch this week, as I know I will never be able to go. Right now, we are having very high winds, and there is danger of trees loaded with the wet snow toppling over. So far, we are ok. But, Aizen’s trees are in trouble- one is covered, and the others had their branches hanging over. I hope the snow flies off them with the wind, and they come back up again.
So good to hear from you, and see your lovely pictures.
By the way, my pretty gazing ball that flew off it’s stand at the last storm,is completely buried. I am glad it is, as it is protected from the snow. I just hope it is in one piece when the snow on it melts.
So glad you weather is better- it will eventually come here….LOL

      Hi Adele,
I hope that Gary is feeling better today after his chicken noodle soup. Greg is not that fond of chicken noodle soup so I don’t make it often-I love noodles or dumplings! My Mom and Grandmother used to make oxtail soup and I have made it but you seldom find oxtails in the store around here. We used to put noodles in that too as it was mostly broth.
Greg wouldn’t even be a candidate for surgery as the stenosis and bulging disc are so minor-so they are looking for other reasons for the neuropathy. Sometimes, they can’t really pinpoint the cause. I think if they can’t find something to help that i am going to suggest that he looks into accupuncture. I figure if you can find anything that works it’s worth a try. Of course i don’t know if i can talk him into it-but i would like to see him feel better and not have those numb feet all the time.
You know I don’t think Penny’s does send a catalog anymore. I used to get them all the time. Sears too. I have bought a lot of area rugs and curtains through Penny’s so I don’t know why i didn’t think about them. Thank you. In any case we did find a rug at Bed Bath and Beyond so we are good to go.
So you and Gary will be snowed in for Valentine’s Day. I hope you have some crayons and construction paper so you can make each other cards. No romantic Valentine’s Day at our house-Greg has rehearsal tonight so my present is that I don’t have to cook dinner. lol We did go out for dinner after we were done shopping on Sunday-so that was a good thing. I wanted to go to Ruby Tuesday but we discovered that it had shut down so we went across the street to Thunder Bay Grill.
I hope your bushes and trees withstand the snow. Did you ever take the pool down or is it still up?
I can’t believe that our weather has been so mild that Greg went for a bike ride again yesterday. Plus it’s supposed to be in the 50’s this weekend. I keep on thinking this mild January and February means we’re going to have an awful March. it just seems to good to be true. Or else we’ll have an awful winter next year. At least we are seeing the sun more too-hurray!

      Hi Gail
Happy Valentine’s Day to you, and to all my Quacker buddies!!!
Well, the dam pool is still standing, and one tree I can see has taken a hit. It is bending over, and the first one I planted, that almost got ruined from the 100 inches of snow a couple of years ago, is now completely under the snow. So, I do not know if that one is ok, or not.
the pretty red gazing ball can no loner be seen- completely covered with snow. I think that is good, as I am hoping it will not break, and we can just put it back on it’s pedestal.
I had to cancel my lunch with everyone this week, as we are getting more snow/rain/sleet on Wednesday and possibly into Thursday am. They are still not too sure how much we will get.
So, since I am grounded, i am baking. I made a batch of brownies for tonight, as well as con bread to have with the pot pie. Sue got me hungry for one, and I had one in the freezer….LOL it will not be as good as hers, as this is a store bought one. the house smells yummy, between the corn bread and the brownies.
So sorry about Greg. I hope they can figure it out, so they can do a treatment plan to help him with the pain, and numbness. Do you think he is diabetic, by any chance? Gary has neuropathy in his feet, from his diabetes. i hope it is not the case for Greg, as that means a whole new way of eating, which Gary , of course, does not do.
So,this morning, the two of us were arguing, as to hose Valentine’s card cost more. How lame are we???
I hope your weather stays mild, and Greg can continue to get his rides in. We finally had winter land, with a huge bang. This is New England, what can I say? As they always say, just wait a minute and the weather will change up here. I could never think of living anywhere else. The drama of the weather is always fascinating up here…..accept when I am grounded.
hope your Valentine’s Day s going well!

      Hi DD,
I think that we are getting your weather. It has been pretty warm here. We have had two days that it has been in the 40’s and after tomorrow it is going to get into the sixties and seventies. I cannot believe that it is going to be that warm. I hope that we do not pay for this in March. I am like Gail we will either get a lot of snow next month or next winter watch out.
I watched the quacker shows also but did not buy anything. They did have a lot of cute things and a few tunics. I love their tunics. It covers all the parts that I am glad to cover. I liked the jeans that they showed also. They had a lot of cute things. Oh well they will have more cute things as spring and summer come in.
Not a lot going on here. Ron gave me candy for Valentines and we are going out to dinner tomorrow. That is my gift to him. We do not go out on Valentines day a lot of the time because the restaurant we like to go to will be really crowded and you have to wait for a long time in line.
Hope that you had a Happy Valentines day and that you and Kay and Critt did something fun.

      Hi Gail and Adele,
Happy Valentines Day!! Hope that you both had a good day. Sometimes it is interesting to fight argue over silly things when you are trapped in the house for a long period of time. It makes the day more interesting. We are having such warm weather here that it is like spring. After tomorrow our weather is supposed to be in the sixties and seventies. We are getting the weather that DD should be getting.
I cannot imagine what Greg puts in his jambalaya that it smells so bad. It would be hard to eat if it smells that bad. Is it from Justin Wilson show or did he get the recipe from somewhere else?
I am like you I am afraid what our March is going to be like. This weather is just too warm for this time of the year. Some will happen and we will get some snow or tornadoes. It is just too early for it to be this warm.
It takes us about 2 and 1/2 hours to get to the base. That is if the traffic is not really bad. I have to laugh at the kids on the base. They are now afraid to tell you what you are supposed to do at certain times. They do say it respectfully though. All but my grandsons. I guess they are too use to me to worry about being respectful at a time like that. lol I was glad that they told me because I did not know that it did not matter where you were at when they played that song you stopped what you are doing and stand and put your hand on your heart.
I am wondering if the numbness in Greg’s foot is from the diabetes. That is a common thing that happens. I am not sure if following the diet will stop it. They do have medicine that will stop it though. So far I have not had that problem and hope that is not what it is with Greg. It is something to think about. Hope that Greg will go to the pain doctor that Jenny is going to it would be better for him
I am sorry to hear about Jenny and the scoliosis. That would be a hard thing to hear when you have three little ones at home. Hopefully that she hears something soon and it is not bad and they can do something for her to keep it from getting any worse. I do not know that much about it but is just sounds does not sound good. We will be praying for her.
Your new furniture sounds so pretty. It will look really nice. When we had the leather we put sheets on it in the summer and it was not as hot. It was not too bad in the winter. You will like it just wait. The kitchen table sounds really nice also. Amish furniture is made really well. It will last a long time. Our kitchen chairs are from an Amish place. My mom and dad bought them and when my mom moved she gave them to me. So they have gone thru a couple of families and are still in good shape. You really had a good day. You also found your rug for the bathroom. You really had a good day.
Adele I am glad that Gary is feeling better. There is nothing better when you are sick then homemade Chicken noodle soup. I can remember my grandma making it in the winter. It is always so good. I have never had oxtail soup that must be a thing that they do where Gail lives. My mom use to make cows tongue and that was disgusting. I do not think that she ever put it in soup though. Probably because she did not think of it.lol
He should not get deployed for at least a year. Not unless an emergency comes up somewhere in the world and he has to go. He does not seem to mind he seems to look at it like that is his job. I am glad that there are people out there that feel that way. Your dad must have a person like that also.
I hope that your tree will come back like it did last time. That is sad that it got hit again. Hopefully it will not hurt any of your trees and plants. Snow is so heave when it sits on our little trees and bushes. You would not think that those little snow flakes could be that heavy.
Your brownies and pot pie sound really good. It does not matter where it came from. I guess with all the good food cooking and the corn bread you made everyone very hungry today. Your house must smell from baked goods all the time. I bet you neighbors smell that outside and you make them hungry all the time.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen,
I think Greg’s jambalaya recipe came from somewhere online. For some reason I think it is the smell of the cooked seafood in there that bothers me. It just smells bad to me-it might smell fine to everyone else. It seems like the older that i get the plainer that I like my food. I think the oxtail soup might be a Polish thing which may be why you never had it. My grandmother also used to make Czarnina which is duck’s blood soup. Interesting.
2 and 1/2 hours is not too bad a distance. It’s not real close but not real far either. I’m glad Stephen will be home for another year. I’m sure everyone is.
I think I will get used to the leather. It should not get too sticky with the AC on in the summer.
We are supposed to get into the lower 60’s this weekend. Greg should get plenty of chances to ride his bike. I think the boat and fishing show is in Rockford this weekend so maybe we will go to that. The only thing that scares me about the weather getting so warm is last time that it got to be 60 in January we had tornadoes just down the road from us and lost power for a couple of days.

      Hi Adele,
That sucks that you had to cancel your girl’s lunch. I get cabin fever if i don’t get out of the house after awhile.
Greg did send me flowers yesterday. I kind of thought that he would since I’m pretty sure he hadn’t gotten a card and with rehearsal last night he wouldn’t be home until later. They are pretty and I do love fresh flowers. Our local florist always does a great job.
Here’s the thing with Greg and diabetes. Several years back I had him in the emergency room for chest pains which ended up being something wrong with his shoulder but when they ran bloodwork they came back and said his sugar was really high and he had diabetes. Well then he went to the family doctor and it was confirmed so for several years he checked his blood and all that and then last year she told him he no longer had it and didn’t have to do all that stuff. So I guess he controlled it with diet or else all these doctors are really messed up. Thus the recent bloodwork to check on everything again. I don’t know-it makes me very confused.
I used to buy these frozen pot pies from this pie store and they were just as good as the homemade ones without all the work. I think I can get them at Costco too. In fact I want to make a trip there too so I will pick some up. It’s good to have some premade things in the freezer on nights when I am feeling lazy(most nights) lol
So who won the battle of the more costly card? I really do think the two of you need to get out. lol

      Hi Colleen
I am so glad he will not be deployed for another year. I bet the entire family is very grateful for that, and I hope it does not change.
They did enjoy the brownies and corn bread. I actually had some corn bread for breakfast, kind of like having a corn muffin. I heat it a little and then out some butter on it. Gary is so spoiled he will not eat the corn bread the next day.
The tree is coming back up a little, but I am so afraid the trunk is permanently damaged- it still has the stick on it to stand straight, as we just had it planted last summer. I cannot see 2 of them, and i hope they are ok. It is what it is, as I say. Maybe my landscaper can do something to it, to save it, in the Spring, if need be.
We are getting from 3 to 6 more inches tonight, into tomorrow morning.
I have never had oxtail, or cow tongue soup. Every state seems to have different things that are unique to their area. that fascinates me.
HAve you been watching This is Us? I love that show.
Hope your weather is good. It is very gloomy here, as it is supposed to rain first today, then the change to snow.

      Hi Gail
the other thing we like c=frozen is the Purdue chicken fingers. I will serve them with the frozen (baked) fries, and a veggie, or the Grands. That is another quickie when you do not feel like doing dinner. I wish we had a better pot pie at the supermarket, as Mrs Budds has hardly any veggie- I always add a can of peas to it. The one they sell at the “pot pie” store is fabulous, and it costs 22.00. It has a lot of chicken breast in it, and a good amount of veggies. But, it is another trip to a strip Mall to get that one.
nobody won the great card debate. My card had a touching message, and Gary’s was so brief, you thought it cost 1.00. His actually cost more than mine….LOL
Today i am deign that new recipe in the crock pot- it is called chicken paprikash. I hope they like it….LOL It is served with white rice. We will see! i get a daily recipe from Betty Crocker, and this one is form them. They are doing a month of slow cooker recipes. I copied a pork roast one today that I also want to try. the slow cooker is just so easy for me, and I love them being in one pot, and I do not have to worry about anything burning.
I hope Greg got home safe. That was nice for him to send flowers. I find it really odd that they said Greg was a diabetic, and then he was not, just because he controlled it with diet. That is great that he got his numbers down. I hope they did not go up again, and he did not know. I hope he gets good results from his blood work and the numbness disappears. Neuropathy is awful to live with. I see it with Gary, and his problems with his feet. I would not wish that on anyone.
Hope your weather is good today!

Hello ladies. Hope your hubbies are feeling better now. Gosh Gail, that is so strange about the numbess in Greggs feet. I too thought it could be related to either diabetes or a pinched nerve in his back. Isn’t it something how it seems like there should be a simple answer to this; but it is like a puzzle that needs that ONE piece to have the answer. Poor Jenny with the scoliosis. I know she must be frightened to think at such a young age that she will deal with this issue with all the lifting and pulling, etc. that a young mom has to do all the time. When your baby gets sick, they look to Mom to pick them up and thats what we just do naturally. Will they treat it with a brace or any type of back support? I remember back when I was a child that at our elementary school every year the school nurse would line us all up and check for scoliosis, but I guess that was due to it being the 50’s, and we had such bad things going around then. Funny I should think about that now after all those years. Adele, how is Garys cold doing? Those things make you feel so bad. And with the weather you all have been having, I know you must have had to stock your pantry up extra well to prepare for all the ice and snow that has come your way. Are you in on this weather too Sue? I know you must be thrilled not to have to try to get to work in all of this now.
Jerrys Mom is out of the hospital. She was released yesterday. Jerry got so nervous and upset when he got out there since they were fixing up her dinner and it had some fried fish on it and she cannot have anything fried. She is doing great now, and he wants to keep it that way. We do have to watch her carefully now, but she feels so much better. Jerry went and got her some pudding cups and some yogart and then he filled my ear up for 30 minutes of how they should have the right food for her, and I said, Jerry how do you expect them to be ready at a moments notice to change her whole diet? That got him to quit fussing. He has been so worried, but he slept so good last night and I didn’t wake him until about 10 this morning. He needed the rest. Oh, by the way, neither of us did a Valentine card this year. I did get him one of those thermos like cups and a handle for it so he can take his coffee with him in the car without spilling it. He loves a big cup that Neal got for him at Lamberts restaraunt years ago, but he has dropped it so many times and finally broke a huge chunk out of it. Knowing him he is still going to hold on to it. LOL
Take care everyone, and hope your day is going well. Boy those BBQ chicken wings that Jill is showing right now is making me hungry, so better see if that roast is ready. It smells like it is. Barbara

      Barbara,
Glad to hear that Jerry’s Mom is out of the hospital and doing well. Between the place where she lives and you and Jerry she gets wonderful care.
Last time I had talked to Jenny she had not heard back from the doctor yet. I think right now the curvature is very slight so I’m not sure if they will do anything. They checked our kids in school every year for scoliosis too so either someone including her pediatrician missed it or it developed later in life. She originally went because of a pain in her hip and they originally thought it might have been from running. We’ll see what they decide to do. Perhaps send her to an ortho doctor?
I am feeling so bad for Greg because he keeps thinking that there will be a “fix” for this neuropathy and from what I have read on the subject it sounds like it is something that is usually chronic and all they can do is try to treat the symptoms-and not very effectively at that. This is the first time that he has had a really chronic condition and he is having a hard time accepting that this may be how it is forever. I know it is making him feel down as he has always been active and athletic. I think he could use a few prayers from all of us.
How are Joey and Lisa doing? And more important are they keeping the bloodhound away from Jerry’s trees? Didn’t Lisa have Ruby too-and didn’t Neal have the German Shorthair-I can’t remember her name now-the one that got bit by a snake. So do you guys inherit all these dogs now? Plus you have some of your own too. I bet no strangers ever step foot on your property with all those dogs running around out there. You are very safe. lol
When you talked about lining up for scoliosis checks it reminded me of going down to City Hall as a child and us all lining up and standing in line to get the polio vaccine in a sugar cube. That was a really deadly disease when we were kids and we were so lucky that they found the vaccine when they did. That was a great 20th century discovery.

      Hi Adele,
I do love getting a pretty bouquet of flowers but did you ever notice that flowers nowadays-even the roses and carnations-no longer have their pretty smells. I guess they have hybrid them so much to get them to last longer that they bred all the smell out of them. lol Gosh I remember when we were young carnations were almost sickeningly sweet smelling.
I have never served the Perdue chicken fingers. I will have to check them out. It’s always good to have something like that in the freezer that you can fix in a jiffy.
How did the chicken paprikash turn out? I always like a good crock pot dish. last night i fixed chili and salad and there is chili left over for lunch today. that’s always a good thing. Tonight I think I am fixing a new recipe with ground beef and frozen cheese tortellini-and i forget if there’s anything else in it. We’ll see how that turns out or if we even like it. lol I even bought fresh asparagus to serve with it. It breaks my heart to do that as in the spring we have asparagus coming out of our ears but I just had a taste for it.
Are you getting better weather yet? We are supposed to have 60 degrees this weekend. Everyone will be out in their shorts! lol

      Hi Barbra
So glad to hear Jerry’s Mom is out of the hospital. That is great news. Of course Jerry finally slept, he was relaxed, happy, and able to take a good rest. there is nothing as good as a good night’s sleep. I bet you were thrilled to see him happy, and that he slept so late. You are a good wife to support him all the time.
Gary’s cold disappeared, without it going to his chest. This was a first, and I was thrilled.
We got another 3 inches last night, and are having snow showers as we speak.
As soon as I use an item for baking, I put it on the list for that week’s shopping, to make sure I am stocked…LOL Gary has to get quite a few bars of cream cheese tomorrow, as I am making Jhonny’s favorite on Sunday ( for a belated birthday- Bobby is making him chicken/broccoli, and ziti), the mini cheesecake pies, with strawberries on them.
I finally bit the bullet, and ordered a smart phone- it is coming tomorrow, and I hope I can quickly learn to use it. The main reason I got one, is that my cutie Aizen does not understand why he cannot see my face when they call me.
Hope you are having much better weather than we are….LOL You are all in my prayers every single night.

      Hey Gail
I think you hit on something, with the smell of the flowers. Even with the roses I get for the yard, they do not fill the room with the smell anymore. Have you noticed the strawberries yet? They have a white top lately, and they are not a s sweet anymore. How are they in your area?
There are a couple of different bags of frozen Purdue chicken fingers. My only complaint, is they are a little salty. I wish they had one with lower salt.
Well, there are mixed reviews on the chicken paprikash. Tillie loved it. Using the boneless thighs, did surprise me, in that they remained very juicy, and did not dry out. Bobby said it tasted the same as chicken cacciatore. He had no objection. Then we get to you-know-who. He pushed all the chicken to the side, and then asked for corn bread. That is what he ate last night, corn bread, and brownies. Honestly, there is no good reason that he could not at least eat his chicken with the rice. The chicken was so good in the crock pot, and he could have eaten it, without the juices. I got so mad, I hardly spoke the rest of the night, and told them to put what they could eat without me touching it, on the list. I told Gary to make sure he gets enough cereal, and can soup, as I am done.
I totally understand that when you present a new dish, there will be different opinions. Everyone ate it, accept Gary. He could have eaten just the chicken and rice, and then said he did no care for the taste of the sauce it was in.
So, I am still searching for a chicken recipe for the crock pot, that will be acceptable to all. But, I do not think I will be cooking for a while. I believe I am tired of trying to please everyone as it is completely impossible. Can you hear how ticked off I am? LOL
I do have another recipe I may try, but it is going to be a while, as I am pretty ticked off. It gets to be depressing when you are happy to do a new recipe, and it comes out good, and the whole house smells so nice from it cooking all day. Then, you have my dear husband at the table. We have friends who do not like to invite us to dinner, as they say they are afraid to cook for him. He keeps saying he likes plain food. Well, plain cereal comes out of a box, with plain milk….LOL
So, today it is still snowing, but kind of flurries. We got about 2 more inches last night, which is not too bad.
I will get over this in a couple of days, at least by Sunday as all the kids who are not working, will be here for Jhonny’s birthday celebration. By the way, Gary does not like the cheesecakes, and I will not be making anything else…LOL LOL revenge is best served cold, as they say, and cheesecakes are cold.
I feel so bad about Greg. I hope every time I open an email from you, that they find what is happening, and have a solution. Also for Jenny. I feel so bad for anyone who has any back issue, as I get scared they will eventually end up like me. On the positive side, I do find ways to do all the things I need to do, and that is always good. I am grateful for the ability to be able to do that.
Thank you for listening to me rant!
Hope you are all having a good day, and eating with people who are easy to please.
Love you all, and you would welcome every one of you at my table.

      Hi Ladies,
Well, it’s another soggy day here today, as well as yesterday(Wed.) We may float out to sea yet. lol. There’s minor flooding in the low lying areas in the Portland area. It’s been a pretty wet Feb.
I don’t remember asked, but I went to beauty school back in the 70s, & we did learn that medicine does affect your hair. However it has more to do with perming or coloring your hair. If your hairdresser asks about your meds it’s because the acids, & other chemicals can turn your hair various colors, depending on what you’re taking. I suppose nowadays they’ve taken care of that issue with the new technologies. I don’t know about turning the hair curly. I wish it did, as mine is fine as baby’s hair & straight as a board. The curliness comes from the hair follicles in the scalp. And yes the meds come out in the hair, finger & toe nails, & probably the eyebrows/lashes. Anything that grows out from the skin.

Adele, I’ll be right out & I’ll eat your meals. I’ll hop on my broom as soon as it stops raining. lol. There’s no reason why he couldn’t eat just the meat if he doesn’t like the rice. I;m not crazy about rice, myself, because I still feel empty after eating it. I don’t blame you for being ticked off!! I would be too.
Have you tried cooking the chicken or pork in mushroom soup? It makes wonderful gravy!!
You won’t regret getting a new iPhone! They’re lots of fun. at least for me.
Gail, do you grow asparagus? I’ll move right in if ya do, lol. I LOVE asparagus. The local store has em on sale this week for Valentines day. I try to get as many as I can afford to. Otherwise they’re really expensive till later in the spring. Anyone who grows em is my new BFF!! LOL.
You’re all right about the roses not having any fragrance anymore. It’s a shame too. Same goes for berries. The strawberries we get here are red but they’re hard as rocks when you go to bite into them. We wait till our season in late May early June to get em here. they’re much sweeter when they’re home grown. Where I grew up we had an annual Strawberry Festival, & had the largest strawberry shortcake in the area the first week of June. I can’t wait for the spring & summer seasons.

      Hi DD!
Love the pic of our favorite guy! LOL
i am picturing a beautiful strawberry festival in a wide green field, with red checkered tablecloths, and happy, people in sparkly clothes with hats to keep the sun off their faces.
You are so right- I forgot to add how hard the strawberries are too. As soon as I read that, I remembered it….LOL
I picture you, suitcase in hand, going across the US to have dinner with all of us, and enjoy all the different things we make, coast to coast.
I have heard a lot of people use the cream of mushroom soup. does it work in the crock pot too?
We heard on our news that your area is getting a huge rain storm. I hope you are safe, and that is misses you and your friends. Please let us know if you are ok tomorrow!!
that is funny about what meds do to hair, anywhere on the body. Did you like hairdressing?
I have an even funnier story about the shower this morning, but it will take a lot of writing. I hope I will do it tomorrow, and you all will be rolling in the aisles.
      Please stay safe tonight!

      HI,
Just a quick note to let ya know I’m safe. It’s the low lands, farms, that are having high water. The rain should lighten up after tonight. I hope.

Adele, I’ve used cream of mushroom soup in a crock pot before. Just add some water to it & stir it to mix it up. I use it a lot when I fry pork chops, chicken, pork steak. I brown the meat, then pour out the grease, but leave the bits & pieces in the pan. I stir the soup in the pan stirring it so it takes in all the bits & pieces & takes on the flavor left by the meat. Add a can of water & stir it in. then I put the meat back in making sure I cover the meat with the soup. Cover the pan & let the meat simmer on lower heat, turning the meat so both sides get a good basting. It makes a wonderful gravy, & it makes the meat moist, esp the chops & steaks. (I just had dinner & I’m making myself hungry.) LOL
Oh, tomatoes, most fruits, come to the stores green as gourds & hard as rocks so you have to wait a couple of days before they’re ripe enough to use.

      Have a great Friday.

      Hi Gail,
Greg may make his like we make ours. We use shrimp and Ekridge smoked sausage. You can use the hot sausage but hot food does not do my stomach any good. Do you like shrimp? It can smell bad when you cook it though. I still have to find that recipe for the shrimp salad. I need to get a new recipe box and get all my recipes in order.
I had never heard of the oxtail soup. The duck blood soup just does not sound good at all. Did all of the kids eat that? It may have been good it is just the name of it that makes you think that it will not be any good. It is funny some of the things that our grandparents and parents use to make that we would not make it now.
It is scary that we are getting all this warm weather right now. It is good weather for tornadoes. I hope that none will hit by your house again this year. It is just a scary thought. I cannot believe that we are going to warm up and not have one more good day with snow before March is over. I think that it will hit middle March when we are all use to the warmer weather and the flowers are popping out. That has happened before. Easter will be late this year so at least we know that there will be no snow that day.
The boat and fishing show sounds like fun. Hopefully you and Greg will get to go and have lunch out or dinner. Ron is sick so this week-end we will be sitting at home. He caught that cold that is going around and has been sleeping a lot. Night before last he got up in the middle of the night and woke me up. We were up for the rest of the night. So last night and today we have been making up for the lost that we lost. I think that he has that cold like Adele had.
That would be confusing to have a doctor tell you that you have diabetes and then tell you that you do not have it anymore. I had never heard of that before. I thought that once you had it you always had it. You may have it under control but it is still there. They are constantly changing things now so you never know what to think. Hope that figure all of this out soon. How is Jenny doing? They should be able to do something to help her I would think. Since it is not all that bad right now. Will be praying for her and Greg.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
I do not blame you for being upset with Gary for not eating your meal that you cooked. If you do not cook for him for a couple of days he will be glad to eat whatever you fix for him that next time. It is time to get out the potato soup.lol It is nice that everyone else liked it. They have been cooking a lot of chicken thighs on the Chew lately. We used them once in a recipe that I got from the Chew. It is nice to use the slow cooker as much as possible. There is not as much clean up. That is good that Tillie and Bobby liked your dinner.
Ron had a cousin that would eat corn bread in milk for dinner sometimes. I could not figure out how that made them full would think that they would need to eat something else. They were a lot older then we were and she would tell me that they ate light at dinner time and had their big meal at noon. That way they worked their food off before bed. I guess that made sense.
You are really getting a lot of snow. It seems not to want to quit. Maybe this week-end it will stop and that will be the end of it. Are they getting it around where qvc is located? You never hear them talk about it if they are. I saw on that show with Dan Wheeler that he had a picture that looked like a window and it was sunshine and green grass and trees. He said that it was a fake window. I guess it was not a picture but a fake window. My mind is not working right tonight.
Your trees will be alright. Your gardener will be helpful to take care of them for you. That is what happened to the other one that you had if I remember right. He seemed to bring it along okay. Those trees are so pretty. If they sell them in your area they should be able to take the weather.
I have never seen that show This is Us. Was going to watch it but never think about it when it is on. We watch a lot of movies. I have been watching a lot of Blue Bloods. It will be going into reruns before we know it. I cannot believe that the season is almost over. This year is going by as fast as last year.
Ron has been sick with that cold like you had. He got up the other night in the middle of the night an woke me up and we stayed up for the rest of the night. I felt bad for him he felt so bad. He has been taking medicine and it seems to have helped him to feel better. Just hoping that I do not catch it from him. I have a stuffy nose and had a sore throat but it seems to have calmed down a lot. Maybe that will be it.
I like the picture of Tom and the other guy with him. I use to have a crush on him when I was younger. I cannot even think of his name now. I will think of it when I get off of here. The first time I saw him he was in a movie and he played a life guard. That was a good movie. Wish they would make some new Jesse Stone movies he was so good in those. They just keep showing the same ones over and over again.
Well that is about all from here. Life here is pretty boring right now. Have a good night.

      Hi Barbara,
I have to apologize to you. I forgot to put your name on the e-mail I wrote that other day wishes everyone a Happy Valentines Day. I feel bad that I did that. Did not meant to.
Glad to hear that Jerry’s mom is home and Jerry is feeling better about it all. I agree with Gail you and Jerry take very good care of his mom and that home does also. No one can complain about how she is cared for. Do Jerry’s brothers ever go and see her at the home? That is a shame if they do not.
I can remember when they did the back checks and about the polio vaccine. There was a boy in our neighborhood that had polio. It was really kind of sad. He had to walk with the leg braces and he could not go to regular school because he could not manage the steps. So back then they had schools for the handicapped. It just seems so long ago. Now they have the ramps and do everything they can to make it easier for the kids. That is so nice.
Is Lambert’s where they throw peanut shells on the floor? We have one of those not too far from us. They say that it is a really nice place. They also throw the rolls to you. Do not know if that is such a good idea but seems like people do not mind it. That would be interesting if you got hit in the head with one.At least it would not hurt. lol
Our weather has been really nice here lately. I do not think that we are going to get any snow unless we get it in March. It is so warm here. It is almost like spring. Ron said that he saw a flock of geese flying north today. That is supposed to be a sign of spring. We will see.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
You are really getting a lot of rain. You are getting rain like Adele is getting snow. Hope that you are able to get out and get things that you need. It is always hard on the farm areas. They always seem to get flooded out every time there is a lot of rain. I guess because they are so low and the land is so flat. Glad that you are okay.
I like to cook with mushroom soup also. It does keep the meat moist and give it a good flavor. Do not have to go to a lot of trouble to make a gravy either. I use it in the crock pot and the oven and stove top. It just has a good taste.
Did you ever work as a beautician? That is interesting that you went but did not work as one. That would be nice to know how to dye your hair and things like that. My hair is like your thin and straight. Now I did have a little curl in it after I had the shots in my back. It was really weird. But that has gone away and it is straight again. All we could figure out is it was from the steroid shots.
We grow asparagus here also. It is so good and is nice if we get enough we can freeze it. We eat a lot of it and glad that we grow it because it is expensive in the stores. I have never seen any of it at farmers markets either. That is strange because I know there must be farmers around here that grow it. Maybe they just grow enough for their own personal use.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I was the one who asked about the hair and medicines. Thanks for confirming what I had been told.
We have an asparagus patch and I believe Colleen does too. We do have a lot of good asparagus in the spring and then you have to stop cutting it. I wish I could send some your way when it is coming in strong.
Boy there has been a lot of rain on the west coast. I hope this will help with the California drought. However, I feel bad for those people affected by the problems with the dam. Even though they were told that they could go back home i would forever feel uneasy after that.
We are going to be 60 this weekend. That is very unusual for northern Illinois. We normally have pretty nasty winters.
      Have a great weekend.

      Hi Colleen,
I hope that Ron is feeling better and that you have not gotten sick either. that’s bad when the cold keeps you from getting your rest at night too. I hope last night was better.
I actually love shrimp but don’t like the smell of it cooking. Kind of weird! I definitely eat with my nose. lol I think Greg finds the andouille sausage somewhere.
I remember tasting the duck’s blood soup-it was kind of sweet as I think it had some kind of fruit in it. However, my Mom didn’t make it much-she made the oxtail soup more often.
Is that other guy in the picture Tom Skerritt? Greg thinks he looks like my brother especially in the cowboy gear since that’s how Bruce is always dressed-boots, hat and jeans.
We are both getting some nice weather this weekend. Too bad Ron is sick so you won’t be able to get out and about.
Have a good weekend and stay healthy.

      Adele,
I don’t blame you for being frustrated. It’s so hard to feed a picky eater. I know I would be tempted since he is a grown man just to tell him to feed himself if he doesn’t like what you make. Except it’s kind of a Catch 22 since he seems to eat all the foods that are not good for him and I know you try to give him a more balanced diet. I know the older I get the plainer I like my food-and Greg still likes a lot of spices and sauces so we try to find a happy medium or I make something that he can add more sauce or spice to his individual serving. But gee Gary-who does not like cheesecake!!! I’ll take his share. lol
I haven’t bought strawberries recently so I have not checked them out. That just reminded me The Choirboys once sang at a strawberry festival somewhere around here. That was quite a few years ago.
Talking about the crock pot and cream of mushroom soup one of my go to recipes includes both of those. You cut round steak into serving size pieces add a can of cream of mushroom soup, a package of dry onion soup mix and a can of water. Put on low and cook for six to eight hours-the meat gets very tender and there’s a nice gravy so I usually serve it with mashed potatoes and a veggie. You can also do the same with stew meat and add a bit of red wine, mushrooms and some sour cream at the end and serve it over noodles like a stroganoff.
Who’s birthday is it this weekend? Since you can’t get out maybe they will all come to you. that will be fun! Enjoy!

      Hi Gail
It is very hard feeding him. He is such a good man, in so many ways, but food is such an ongoing problem. Every once in a while, I have a hissy fit. yesterday was the day….LOL Tonight, Chinese food is on the agenda. Tomorrow, he said he will get corned beef from the local Jewish deli. Sunday, Bobby cooks. It is Jhonny’s birthday- it was actually Wednesday of last week. I hope Jhonny gets home in the late afternoon, so dinner will not be too late.
That sounds good too- adding the soup, and then some red wine to be a stroganoff. I like those. Both your and DD’s sounds good. My girlfriend told me to stop telling ll of them what will be for dinner. Just make it, and serve, and who eats, eats. LOL LOL
So, i just got my first smart phone. So far, i figured out how to get a call, change my ringtones, and make a call. I got it to video chat with Aizne, and when I tried to do it with Steph, it did not work. Steph said Jhonny will try to figure it out when e he gets here Sunday.
So, when I figured out I could send all these cool emogees, I texted Heather 3 times, with real funny ones, and one word, like…help. All of a sudden Heather called to say what was happening, and what was the emergency. She was talking to Marissa, and told her she had to go because I was having some kind of emergency….LOL LOL LOL the emergency was an old lady with a new technology she was exploring.
Hope your day went well……… hope DD is ok.

      Hey Colleen!
i ahve good news for you. They are making another Jesse Stone movie. Tom was on a late night show, and was talking about it. It seems like they release them toward the summer each year. He was so nice on the tonight show- he is such a nice, down to earth man.
The snow has stopped for now. Our temps are going up, will be in the 40’s and possible 50 int he next few days. That should melt some snow. Our solar panels are all covered, so I will be glad when the snow melts there too.
read my post to Gail for all the food, and party news….LOL
I hope Ron is feeling better, and his cold goes away quick. I also hope nobody l else gets it.
Are you deign anything with your girls this weekend?
if you want to see this is Us, you really have to see it form the beginning, as a lot of things come up in each show, and you would be lost. It is a fabulous show, and makes you cry all the time. It is up for a lot of awards.
have to go…the Chinese food just came….LOL

Gail, I thought it was just me thinking the roses don’t smell hardly at all anymore; so I am glad to hear you think so too. I remember years ago you could smell the waft of roses in the air from your neighbors bushes let alone your bushes. Each spring I go around trying to sniff the roses for sale at the garden center for a fragrant one, and just cannot find one. I think its like you said, they have messed with nature too much and lost it’s beautiful fragrance. Do you have gardenias there are is the weather too cool? They smell so good. Just love them. I have resisted so far with all the planting shows on but I just keep reminding myself that I have had zero luck in getting even the simplist of plants to bloom. I couldn’t even get the ornamental grass to work. It came up, but just looked “sick” and Jerry even babied it for me, but didn’t help. Yes, his trees are still standing that big ears chewed on so badly. They have a long running thick wire from tree to tree out back at their house; and he is doing better since they put him on that if they cannot be with him. He is a sweet doggie, but once his nose gets a scent of something he is off and running. He is microchipped; and Lisa monitors him on her I-Phone app; but he is still a baby so to speak. I have to really be careful; because he doesn’t pay close attention and if something distracts him he just takes off and I am afraid he will knock me down. But Jerry is some better now; but this will always be a sore subject for him, I know. We inherited Neals short haired pointer too, Ellie and Lisa has the coon hound, Dodger. I love him to death. He is big, but so gentle. And Ruby stays indoors with Joey and Lisa. I guess you all can tell by this that they are still together, and now Jerry and I are thinking this will be permanent. It sort of dawned on us one day to ask very few questions and if the boys had something they wanted to talk to us about they would. It is SO hard for Jerry, but I told him one day that I just couldn’t continue to worry about them, that I felt I needed to concentrate my “worrry” about he and I instead. I know I am a “worrier” but I call it just love for our family, but I really feel I was giving Jerry the short end of my attention, and he was doing the same to me. We have made our family such a big part of our lives that somewhere in there we sort of lost our direction. Gosh, I need to go on Dr. Phil or Oprah or something. LOL
By the way, it seems like someone was saying they like corned beef and cabbage; so I have an easy recipe that goes in the CROCK POT whoo hoo. Here it is if anyone wants to try it.
Crock Pot ONe pot corned beef cabbage potato dinner
3-4 pound corned beef brisket with seasoning packet (they sell those at our store and its called corn beef seasoning)
      1/ 1/2 to 2 cups water
3-4 potatoes, peeled and cut into large pieces
head of cabbage, sliced and cored
1 stick of butter, sliced ( I am from the south you know)
      salt and pepper to taste

      1. place the brisket fat side up in the crock pot
2, sprinkle your seasoning packet on top and pour water over the top of the brisket until it is almost covered, but not completely.
      3. make a foil packet that will fit in your crock pot on top of your brisket and fill it with your potatoes, sliced cabbage, butter slices and salt and pepper
4.close foil packet and place on top of brisket
5.cover and cook on low for 8 hours
      6. slice brisket and serve with cabbage and potatoes
This is easy for me to make for St. Patricks Day. Even the kids liked it when they were little. If you try it; I hope you like it.

Jerrys Mom is doing good. She wanted a milkshake today when we went out there. We didn’t get to do the Valentine party; but we did send the apples from the Q, and I made two pans of brownies and I had already gotten the party hats and balloons; so the staff put that up for us
Hope everyone has a good weekend. We have been worried about Neal being so close to that dam in California that is overflowing. If it’s not one thing its another, isn’t it? Take care everyone. Hugs, Barbara

      Hi Ladies,
We got a reprieve from the rain today, but the rain is returning over night. I hope it won’t be as bad as it was this week.. We need several days without rain for the flooding to recede.

That recipe for corned beef & cabbage sounds wonderful. It’s way too much for one person. Maybe I could fix it for me & my neighbors.
Not much to write about tonight so I’m gonna sign off till next time.
Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.
      Have a great weekend!

      Hi DD!
I am so glad you and your friends are ok. Evry time we hear awful weather in an area where our friends are, we get concerned. We are also getting a break from the snow. it is supposed to be warmer and no rain or snow for the next week. I am thrilled, so I can get out and see my friends next week.
I have only one thing to do today- make the little cheesecakes for tomorrow. yeah!
hope you have a good weekend.

      Hi Barbara!
OMG- I did not realize Neal was close to the dam. I have not heard anything about it on our news for a couple of days. Does that mean they finally solved the problem, and fixed the break? I hope so, for your and Neal’s sake.
That is funny about the dog. But, i do not think Jerry find it amusing. If that were here with my pretty trees, it could get ugly. I can see myself sitting out there, guarding the trees with my chubby bits….LOL
I have to ask a question- do the veggies assume the great taste of the brisket, placed in the crock pot that way? Mr. Fussy Pants over here, loves the taste of the potato and cabbage from the meat.
Last night, I changed the color of my outside lighted tree on the deck to green, for St Patty’s day. I am having such a good time with that tree. We did have to put it on a timer, as the timer function stopped working.
Hope you are having good weather this weekend! What are you baking? I am doing the little cheesecakes today.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is well. We had another day of off & on showers today. No big downpours, whew.
I forgot to tell ya I posted a couple questions to Angel on her FB page a few days ago & imagine my surprise when I got replies to both! I asked her if they ever did a mountain scene with a cabin, stream, & trees. I know they do a lot of nautical, but I don’t remember anything with a mountain, or a camping theme on a top. she wrote back & said she’d forward my idea to the artists. So maybe they’ll do one sometime. And then I asked her what happens to the clothes, shoes, etc that the models wear, do they get to keep em or what? She wrote back that they don’t get to keep what they model, it goes back to the warehouse for another show.
Did any of you get the TSV Denim & co capris? I want the apple red ones so bad!! They look so comfortable. and the top that goes with is nice too. They have so many cute things too.
Adele, what flavor of cheesecakes did you make? I get those minis they have on QVC during the holiday seasons. I love the strawberry swirl & the chocolate layered one. You can make me cheesecakes anytime. I found a recipe on my FB newsfeed. You add a package of StoveTop stuffing to your hamburger, add egg, water mix & it makes a delicious meatloaf. Oh add mashed potatoes, with gravy, & veggies, & you got a delicious meal. I think so anyway. I just made myself hungry!!!
Guess I better go fix dinner.
      Have a great Sunday.

Angel always answers everyone that posts to her on Facebook. It my take her a while if she is busy or away but she reads all of them and answers. That is why she says to contact her on Facebook. Patrick usually answers too but he is flying here or there so much that I just don’t see how he gets time. He does Quacker in the UK and KJL in Italy so he is always on the run.

We had a beautiful day today. It was sunny and 65. The next week is to be mild 40’s & 50’s with rain showers a few of the days. I am thinking since it is nice now we are in for a bad March. Just hope it holds off until after my Ortho doctors appt. on the 2nd.

      Hi Gail,
Ron is still not feeling all that great. He has been home all week that is not like him. He usually has to go somewhere at least once or twice a week. Even if it is just to the store. He has decided to grow a beard and a mustache. I have decided that he is going to shave or I will shave half of it off while he is sleeping. I never did like a beard on him. It shall be interesting to see which one of us wins this one.lol
Does duck blood soup have any duck blood in it? If it had fruit in it that would give it a different taste and may be pretty good. My mom just fixed tongue and that was the only weird thing that she cooked that we know of. She may have fixed other types of meat and just did not tell us.
It isn’t Tom Skerrit but still cannot think of his name. Ron and I have been trying to remember his name. He played in a movie with Patrick Swayze where they were both bouncers. That is all that I can remember about it and just cannot think of his name. I will have to google that movie and see if it will show his name. I can picture the people in that movie but the name still does not come to mind.
I have been doing all the running this week. I had to go shopping again today and get the rest of the things that we needed. Went to Catos and bought a new watch it was cheaper then a new battery. It was on sale for $5.99 so could not pass it up. Do you have a Catos in your area? They really have some good sales there.
Sam Elliot is the other actors name. Ron finally remembered. It is so sad that we cannot remember names of people.
Catos sells womens clothing and shoes, purses, belts and watches. I am not sure where they get them from but they are from over stock. They really have some cute clothes.
Well that is about all from here. Hope that you went to the boat show. That sounds like fun.

      Hi Adele,
That is good that they are making another Jesse Stone movie. He is so good in those. I wonder how many books that were written about Jesse Stone. I do not know if it was a series of books or short stories. They sure are good though.
What did Bobby end up cooking for Johnnys birthday? That is so nice that he will cook a meal and that really helps you out. Your little cheese cakes sound really good. Your Chinese that you had the other night sounded good also. I could eat that every night.
That warm up will be nice for you. At least you will get rid of all your snow. You sure did get you share of it this year. Hope that your tree will be okay when the snow melts. Those trees are so pretty. It will be nice when you can see your glass ball that you have outside. Everything will be back to normal again. Your tree that you got from the q sounds really nice. We should have gotten one that would look so good on the front deck. Never think about that until it is too late though.
Mandy and I went out to lunch today. We went to a Mexican restaurant and after we ate she got sick. Not physically sick just felt nauseous so she went home and I did some shopping. Finally found some veggie burgers for my granddaughter so she will have something to eat on the holidays. We have St. Patrick’s day and Easter to celebrate yet. It is hard to watch her try and figure out what she can eat. So will have those here and then on Easter we will have mac and cheese. It must be hard to be vegetarian when everyone else eats meat. We did find out that Burger King sells a veggie burger so if we go get burgers that is where we go to get her one.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Barbara,
That is good news that Jerry’s mom is back home. She is wanting a milk shake is good news also. She has gotten her appetite back. It is hard to have all the diets right when they a person comes back from the hospital. They sound like a really good place and am sure that they had her back on her diet the next day.
It seems like the climate where these flowers are started is so much different then ours. That is why we have to be so careful where we buy bulbs. It is rough on them when they send them thru the mail also. There is no telling how they are handled in shipping. The way our delivery guys are around here they get tossed around.
Your crock pot corn beef and cabbage sounds really good. That is nice to have any time of the year. They usually have a really good sale on corn beef around here after St. Patrick’s day so we always wait until then and pick up another one and put it in the freezer.
How is Neal doing? Hope that he is not getting flooded where he is. He has had a rough time since he arrived there. Hopefully things will calm down soon and he will be reunited with his family and they will find a place to live.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi DD,
That was some really good ideas for designs for the quacker shirts. It would be nice to have something other then just the nautical. We do not live anywhere near water so do not have much of an opportunity to wear that type of clothing. Now the mountains or a camping shirt would be nice.
Glad to hear that the rain is slowing down there. It would be nice if it would stop for awhile so you can all dry out. At least all the flood water would go down and the farmers can get their land ready for the spring planting. That is what really makes it bad. Some times it washes away all the good top soil and it makes it harder for the plants to grow. That would be a hard job being a farmer.
I did not get the denim capris. Maybe when I get all my easy pays paid off again I will buy something again. They have been showing so many cute clothes right now it is hard not to buy anything. Oh well that is how it will have to be right now.
The meat loaf sounds really good. With the potatoes and the veggies that sounds like an easy meal to make. Do you ever watch the Chew? They make a stuffed meat loaf that looked really good. Have not tried it yet though.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

Here is the recipe for Shrimp salad.
      1/4 cup olive oil
      1/2 quart mayanise
      1 tablespoon hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon Lea and Parrin sauce
      1 tablespoon lemon juice
      1 1/2 tablespoons of salt
      1/2 table spoon mustard(Pompay)
      12 hard boiled eggs
      1 cup onions chopped
      1 cup dill pickles chopped
      1 cup celery chopped
      1cup black olives
      1lb. shrimp
      1 lb. macaroni
mix all together This makes about 5 pounds. We usually cut the recipe down depending on how many people that we are going to serve. I also do not let him use that many eggs. We usually just put one or two slice up around the top for looks.

      Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Adele, how was the birthday party? I hope that you have not been sending out anymore inadvertent SOS’s on your new smart phone. That was funny.
Are you done with your cooking strike yet?
Barbara, I don’t think we can grow gardenias around here. They do smell good though.
I know after our kids grew up and moved out and after Greg’s Mom was gone we needed to take some time to kind of reconnect. You get so busy taking care of everyone else that you forget to take care of each other. It was a good thing-kind of getting to know each other all over again. It made us closer.
DD those were some good new design ideas. I know I once e-mailed Angel because i wanted to know about a certain bracelet that she wears frequently and she eventually got back to me with all the details. She and Patrick are good about that. Patrick used to come on here and chat a bit sometimes but now he is too busy.
I didn’t get the D and Co. capris but they were cute. I have plenty right now.
My husband got that same recipe for the meatloaf off of Facebook and printed it out for me so it is on our “to try” list. Hopefully soon.
Colleen, I hope Ron is feeling better. so he’s doing the Grizzly Adams thing with the beard and mustache? Do you know that I have never seen Greg without a mustache? I tell everyone that I am not even sure if he has an upper lip. lol
The recipe for duck’s blood soup actually calls for the blood-however I’m not sure if my grandmother or mother actually used it. It sounds gross-doesn’t it?
Thanks for the shrimp salad recipe. It sounds good. I like all the stuff that’s in it.
We don’t have Cato’s around here. It sounds kind of like a TJ Maxx or a Marshall’s.
I looked it up on Goodreads and there are 15 Jesse Stone books.
Greg is going back to the neurologist today so we’ll see what he wants to do now. I personally think that the doctors are just passing him off on each other because no one knows what to do with him.
The weather was so nice this weekend so he was out riding his new bike. He says he really likes it so I guess it was a good gift.

      Hi DD
So glad you did not get soaked again in your neck of the woods. Our weather finally improved too. It has been in the 40’s, and no rain or snow.
Have you done the hamburg with the stuffing yet? I would love to know how it works out , and if you liked it.
We had our birthday party for Jhonny, and everyone left happy.
The cheesecakes I make are on the inside of the Philadelphia cream cheese packages- the mini ones. they have vanilla in them and you can decorate them or add anything you like. This time, we did the frozen strawberries in syrup on the top- everyone out on as much as they liked. Other times, i ahve drizzled chocolate on the top, and put on a fresh strawberry, that I covered in a gel. I used to make a syrup to cover the strawberry, until I read somewhere to boil a jar of strawberry jelly, let it cool, and dunk the strawberry in it, and then have them drain any excess over a cake/cookie thingie.
I hope that helps! i love cheesecakes of any kind. I also make a “genuine NY cheesecake” ( that recipe was from a magazine) that has a sour cream topping, and a ricotta cheesecake that is a traditional Easter Italian thing. That one has no crust.
hope your day is going well. My Mom got Gary’s cold, so we are having the soup I made at the end of last week for supper tonight.

I forgot to say to Dd that it always makes you feel so special when Angel or Patrick give you a message back. It is so nice of them, and they must get hundreds of comments each day.

Sue- your good weather is coming up here- thank you!!
I hope you can make your ortho appointments with no bad weather. Mine is the first week on March too- just cannot recall which day. If we lived close, we would probably be going to the same doctor, and then out to lunch….LOL

Hope you both are having a good day!

      Hi Colleen!
Oh dear….Ron is growing a beard? Does he want it to look like Tom Selleck’s? Maybe he is having a mid life crisis.
I feel so bad for your daughter. I hope she felt better soon. If they cook your food with something you are allergic to, you are in trouble. The other night, as I was still on strike, we got sandwiches form a local take out. I got a chicken parmigiana sandwich, and within an hour, I got sick, and was in the bathroom the rest of the night. I assume they must fry their chicken in the same oil with their shrimp, and I am allergic to shellfish. So, we have eliminated that place form our take out calls.
Bobby made chicken broccoli and ziti for dinner. Everyone loves when he makes that! Gary, of course, had a jar spaghetti sauce with his ziti.
I think the tress are going to be ok. The one that was leaning over, and stuck in the snow, is now up. I just hope the trunk was not damaged, and that it will be up straight when all the snow melts.
We have been very lucky the last few days. It is in the 40’s and will be in the 50’s some day this week. So, i know I can get out with my friends for lunch- yahoo!!

      Hi Gail!
I hope Greg gets some answers from his doctor today. By now, you must know, and I pray it is good. My fingers are crossed!
I have to ed the strike, because Tillie is sick. She got Gary’s cold. So, we are having the soup I made last week. We will also have the left over, and last 2 mini cheesecakes….LOL Gary will have the eclair Heather brought him yesterday.
I am getting used to the new phone. Here is a funny for you……I got the “protection” thing from Verizon, that comes with personal assistance. It was only 11.00 a month, as since I use the Geek squad all the time for the computer, I figured it would be a good idea for a while. So, I clicked don it to get help with loading “Skype” on the phone, and a nice man came on, went into my phone and directed me. After I got it all ready, I emailed all the kids, with an invitation to “Skype”. Bobby said he delete it so fast my head would spin, because he does not want to see me my face when i call to bug him, when I tell him what the Chew made. The rest of them laughed at me. Steph said she will do it of course, so I can talk to the kids. But, her phone was dead yesterday.
So, i am getting there with the new gadget. Slowly, but surely.
When does Brent get home for his visit? How is Jenny and her back?
I was finally able to get to the place on Facebook, where you can tell them soemthing is wrong. I hope they can fix it, so I cna see everything again.
Hope your day is going well!

      Hi Gail,
I won the battle and the beard and mustache is gone. I was so glad that it is gone. He got up the other morning and he had shaved it. He looks so much better. That is funny that you have never seen Greg’ s upper lip. I am sure that he has an upper lip he would look funny without one. Ron has never had a mustache except once when he was in the Army. We weren’t married so I had nothing to say about it.
I wonder if they just sold ducks blood in stores at that time. If not what did they do with the rest of the duck? That was really something weird to think of. I guess back then they used everything because times were harder then they are now.
Catos is a lot like TJ Max but they are a smaller store. They have them all over the place in our area. It was nice when we got one so close. We do not have a TJ Max or a Marshalls around here. We have to drive to St. Louis to go to one of those stores. We use to have to drive to Festus to go to Catos until they opened this one. Festus is the next really big town before we get into St. Louis. They do not have many more stores then we do.
There are a lot of books to the Jesse Stone series. They could make a lot more movies if they want to do it. Guess it depends on how many that Tom Sellek wants to do. They are good movies.
They are just sending Greg back and forth to the two doctors. I can imagine that he is getting tired of that. Hopefully they find what the problem is and do something. They just keep people hanging on until they finally find someone who can figure it out. Will say a prayer that they find the problem and take care of it.
That is nice that Greg can go out and ride his bike. That is one way to take your mind off things.
Well that is all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Adele,
I thought that they were supposed to tell you if they fry any type of other food in the same grease. That is terrible that you got so sick. Hope that you are over it now and are feeling good. It is nice that you are fixing soup for Tillie. She needs it if she has got that cold.
Ron shaved off the beard. He did not look like Tom Selleck at all he just looked like a bum. I do not like beards or mustaches on him and now hopefully he is done with wanting one. The kids would have laughed at him they do not like him to do anything different. Aliza would not recognize him if she saw him,.lol
The chicken and broccoli sounds really good. It is a shame that Gary would not eat that. Oh well that left more for all of you. He is a picky eater. It would be hard to fix meals for him. You may just have to fix what you want and he can eat it or get whatever he wants from the fridge. Ron is pretty good about eating just about anything. He has had too many bowls of potato soup to complain about much of anything.lol
I am glad that your trees are straight now. Hopefully it will not have hurt the trunk. You take such good care of those trees. Did you find your red sphere? Hope that you did and it is still in good shape. When you get snow you really get it.
That will be fun to go out to lunch with friends since you have been trapped in the house for so long. Hope that you go to a place that you really like and they do not fry food in the same grease as the shrimp. That would be terrible to have that happen. Lucky that you did not have to go to the hospital for that.
Our weather is really nice here. Ron has been seeing the ducks flying north for the last few days. He keeps saying that spring is here already. I am afraid that we are going to have a big snow storm next month. That is usually how it works around here.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night. Will say a prayer that Tillie that she gets over her cold soon.

Hope everyone has had a good day. Ours was Fabulous; since Sarah came over with baby Colin and we got to spend about 3 hours loving on him. He is absolutely the light of our lives; but I guess you all can kind of tell that. Neal had called us last night; and actually said that she was “leaving the baby with us while she goes shopping” but somehow I guess those plans changed. She made no mention of going anywhere; so we didn’t either. Jerry finally said he would go into town and get dinner for all of us; but she said she had a late lunch. So he and I just played and played and he took a nap in my arms; so I got more snuggle time than poor Jerry. She did tell us that her parents would be driving her car with her and the baby to California in March. Neal had asked Joey to do this; but we know that plans can and do change. Neal will be moving into his new apartment the 1st of March. It is still raining where he is; but he said that the dam is still holding. He has told us that he feels like he is far enough away from that dam that he is okay; but you know we worry about that.
On the corned beef recipe Adele, I have made it by putting the veggies in the sealed foil packet on top of the meat and you really do not taste the beef that way; but I have also just placed the veggies on top of the beef and the butter on top of the layer of veggies, and you CAN taste the corned beef that way. I forgot to tell you all this. Some of my family likes the beef taste in everything, and some want the veggies just to be seasoned and buttered and seperate from the corned beef taste. Hope that helps explain that. I did red velvet cupcakes and cream cheese icing yesterday with pork chops and mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner last night. It was good. I was in a cream cheese mood but didn’t have time for a cheesecake. Yours sounds deliscious. Hope Tillie is feeling much better. So far so good for Jerrys Mom. You are so right Gail; the busy times of taking care of others does make us lose sight of ourselves, and I have missed just sitting and laughing with Jerry. His feeling have really been hurt over several things here these last few months and it begins to take it’s toll on you.
Colleen, the only time Jerry grew a mustache he looked like a bandit. I couldn’t get over it, and it also itched me. A lot of men here have no hair and they shave their heads. Jerry said they do this like everyday to look good. As lazy as I am in shaving my legs I cannot imagine having to do my head everyday. Our neighbors head looks shiny. Jerry said they wax it after they shave it. Don’t know why I think this is so funny.
Love the pictures DD. It feels like Spring here; so they are appropriate. I just feel we are to have some bad weather ;yet to come.
      Good night everyone. Barbara

      Hi Barbara!
that is very funny about the waxing of their heads. I also find that very amusing.
Now, I get why you did the veggies that way. All our families have their little quirks about food….LOL Gary does beat everyone in that area.
I am so happy little Colin fell asleep in your arms. That is the best ever. You and Jerry must have been thrilled she spent so much good, quality time with you. It was a blessing.
Also glad Neal is moving to the new apartment, and that it is nowhere near the huge dam. That is a frightening situation.
Tillie is still sick. So far, it has not gone to her chest. We had soup yesterday, and she did come up for it. On Saturday, I sent soup down to her. She did come up for the birthday on Sunday. Tonight we are having a crop pot beef meal- with the carrots, potatoes, and onion in it, and I pour a can of Kitchen ready tomatoes over the roast, which makes the veggies very flavorful. I only add slat and pepper, a teaspoon of the “beef base” and a small squirt of the Harissa sauce. So simple, and so good. It smells nice in here already.
It is not raining up her, and I am thrilled. the snow is starting to really melt. So, i am going to lunch with my friends on Thursday- yahoo!!

      Hi Colleen
Thank you for the prayers for Tillie. She is still sick, but so far, it seems like it is not getting worst. If she even starts to cough, I will call her doctor, as she is too old to get any bronchial thing. That scares me.
Tillie spilled her oj last week. So, i got her a tray that just goes over the handles of her walker, and an additional cup holder, that has a groove for the handle of her mugs. So, hopefully, this will not happen again. So, i guess we could say that her walker is ” all tricked out”, as they say about those fancy cars….LOL
I am glad that Ron shaved, as you would have been more and more aggravated with the look. there should be a rule….if you do not look like Tom Selleck, shave.
The trees look ok, accept the one that was originally planted, and is smaller than the rest of them- you can only see a small amount of the top of it- the rest is still under the snow. I can see about half of the red ball, so far. the snow has been melting, as it is warmer up here, for now.
I hope your weather stays warm too. I think Ron is right, it looks like spring is on it’s way. I also hope we do not get another huge snow storm!!
      Have a good day!

      Hi Barbara,
It is so cool that you got to spend time with Colin and Sarah. Maybe she just changed her mind about going shopping. It is nice that you got ot hold him until he fell asleep in your arms. That is such a cool feeling. Sorry that Jerry did not get to hold him as long but he cannot take time away from you.lol I have to babysit for our little one tomorrow. Will have all kinds of things to talk about tomorrow. She is such a little character. Now that she is walking she gets into everything. It is funny to watch her.
That is great that Neal has found an apartment so they can go and join him. They will not have to stay at that motel where he is staying now. Did they ever find the things that were stolen out of his car? I hope that they find that guy and put him in jail for a long time.
That is funny that Jerry looked like a bandit. It is good that he shaved it off. I can just see all these bald guys running around with waxed heads. That would be so funny to see. I bet the sun looks brighter bouncing off their heads. That is good that our guys have not decided to shave their heads. At least we do to have to worry about that. They just look like bandits and bums when they let their facial hair grow. lol I guess that Greg is the only one that looks good with a mustache. I agree with you all that hair is scratchy.
Your pork chop dinner sounds really good. We had linguine and broccoli for dinner tonight. Poor Ron puts up with my lack of cooking good meals. He very seldom get fresh baked goods. Once in awhile I get in a baking mood but not often. You and Adele put me to shame.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      HI Adele,
Prayers help us more then anything else. I do not blame you if Tillie gets a bad cough I would be on the phone to the doctor. I agree at her age it is not good for her to get a bad cough. We have to watch out for my mom like that also.
That is funny that you tricked out Tillie’s walker. She will be the talk at the doctors office if she takes it with her. That was a good idea though. She will not have to worry about carrying drinks around with her anymore. You really do come up with some good ideas.
I agree with you. If a guy does not look as good as Tom Selleck he needs to shave the beard and mustache. It was funny that Barbara said that Jerry looked like a bandit with is mustache. So mine looked like a bum so it did not work out for either of the. Does Gary have a beard or mustache or has he ever tried to grow one? I do not know what gets into men sometimes.
Did you put straw or anything around the bottom of the small tree so it would protect the roots? Sometimes that will help. I think that they say it keeps the ground warmer. Hopefully that tree will be okay and bounce right back. It made it thru the last storm that you had last year. Sounds like the red ball is going to be fine. The snow must have cushioned it.
It will be interesting to see if we get any snow next month or not. I am thinking we will. We have been too warm for too long. We will see what happens. Hope that you do not get anymore snow. You have had your share.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night

      Hi Everyone,
Well I have gone and caught another bug so I am under the weather again. Ran a fever and have such a sore throat and swollen glands in my neck-typical stuff that i always get but it knocks me out.
Adele, now the neurologist is getting more blood work. He just had a bunch done by his primary care physician last week. So the family doctor, neurologist, and pain doctor are just passing him back and forth as no one can figure out how to help him. I really think he should try acupuncture. He keeps telling everyone that he was fine until he did something to his back one day and all his problems started then but no one seems to really listen-I guess because the MRI only show a slight bulge and slight stenosis-no one seems to think that it is bad enough to cause all these problems. Maybe he’s like the princess and pea and it doesn’t take much.
Poor Adele, no one wants to Face Time with you. I think it’s funny that all the kids just laughed you off. Tell them that they are going to give you a complex.
I remember when Greg’s Mom was with us and we found a basket with a cup holder for her walker and everyone thought that was such a good idea. It was convenient as she could carry things in the basket instead of trying to use the walker and hold something in her hand.
Brent is coming at the very end of May.
Jenny was going back to the doctor sometime this week-so don’t know what they will do yet.
Colleen, so Ron shaved his mustache. I’ll bet that made you happy.
I don’t know that Greg looks that good with the mustache or not. it’s just that i have never known him without it so to me he would look funny if he didn’t have it. It’s all a matter of perspective.
We are going to be 70 today and maybe snow on Saturday. I knew this weather was too good to be true. lol
Barbara, I’m so glad that you got to spend some quality time with Colin.
I think it’s funny that someone would wax their heads too. They would probably be the same guys who would take the hair off their chests. My son and my SIL both shave their heads and neither of them ever wax it. And of course Greg comes by his tonsure naturally. Sometimes I think the bald heads look shiny because the skin there is so smooth and unwrinkled. In fact we always joke that because two of the Choirboys are bald that they should powder the tops of their heads before a concert so they don’t blind everyone with the stage lights reflecting off their heads. lol
Well, I hope I start to feel better soon. It sucks to be sick!

      Hey Gail
That is awful that you are sick again. Have them check you for mono. We just found out Amanda has mono- Heather was at the hospital with her last night. Heather is making a big pot of chicken soup, because Dave has had a cold for over a week too.
That is awful about Greg. Are they doing more blood work to make sure they ruled out the usual things- like rheumatoid arthritis, etc? I am amazed at how each doctor does not trust the tests from the other doctor. I did hear somewhere that Lyme disease can be tricky to test for.
I hope Jenny’s doctor appointment has some good news for her.
Gary will be at the gastro doctor soon- he has a last afternoon appointment. This is for the fatty liver thing.
Tillie is very happy with her cup holder, and tray. I hope that prevents any further incidents.
I had a tough time last night. At dinner my collar bone was killing me. By the time we went to bed, the pain was in the shoulder too, and I tool 2 Alleve’s. They did not even make a dent in the pain that followed. It was so bad, that I felt physically sick. I finally fell asleep around 4 am. I did an ice treatment this morning, and more Alleve. No cleaning today! All i will do is make the meatloaf, with the potatoes in the same pan for dinner tonight, with steamed cauliflower. I will mix the meatloaf like Carla Hall did on the Chew- in the kitchen aid mixer, with the dough hook.
I hope you will have some good news on Greg, when they get all the tests back- we are praying for him.

      Hi Colleen
look at my post to Gail for all the info, as the shoulder is starting to get sore form typing. I hope it does not get worst, as my lunch out is tomorrow.
Gary has never grown any facial hair. How is Ron feeling, now that he cut it all off? Watch out, next a sports car will appear in the driveway….LOL
So far, no cough for Tillie, so we are good…..please God!!
The red ball is peeking out more and more. Tomorrow it will be 60. Then some time on the weekend it is supposed to get colder again.
I did not know about the straw thing with trees/ Have you used that a lot? I cannot imagine a straw staying upright, with all the snow on top of it. MAybe I am not getting how you go it….LOL
Hope you are having a good day. Have you noticed nothing great has been on The Chew this week?

      Adele,
LOL LOL LOL Colleen means straw like hay not like a straw that you drink through. A lot of people will use hay to keep plants or something warm during the winter months. We can tell that you are a city girl.
I am picturing you out there setting straws in the ground all around the base of that tree. Your neighbors (and your family) will really think that you have gone bonkers.
I can sympathize with that sore collarbone. When I was first diagnosed with RA my collarbones were so sore that you could not even touch them. Now they are mostly good unless I have a flare.
I’m pretty sure I don’t have mono. I had that about four years ago and I think I would recognize the symptoms again. I was so tired that I couldn’t stay awake for more than 15 minutes. It was awful and it took forever to get a diagnoses as they just don’t look for mono in a woman in her 60’s. It was miserable and it took three months to feel better and a good six months to feel back to normal.
Now they are testing Greg for weird things like chemical substances in the blood and such. I think they are grasping at straws and Greg is convinced that it comes from his back so i feel like they are just going in circles. At this point i just want him to get some relief.
Greg is annoying- the pond is melted so he goes out there to check on his fish and he comes in and says they are all gone. I go how can that be-there are about a hundred fish in there and they can’t just sprout legs and walk away and an animal can’t get them through the ice. They have to be hiding somewhere where he can’t see them. It seems to me like we have had this conversation before during other springs and they all show up when the weather and the water get warmer. He says Sasquatch probably got them. lol I said maybe it’s like evolution and they all grew legs and walked away. lol
I hope Gary’s check up went well.
I wonder what the Quacker TSV for Friday will be? I think it might be some sort of capri or short or something because I did catch Angel saying that you will need to shave your legs for this. lol

I was thinking the same about Adele as you a city girl for sure. I know they put it in flower beds to insulate the bulbs. I don’t know how well it would work on trees as a large part of them is above ground it would only protect the roots but the snow could still damage or break small trees. I would think so anyway. If she has the wind we do it would flatten them to the ground.

I forgot to say Gail I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry for all the sickness girls. Surely hope you and your fellows will be much better soon. I know you are keeping a good watch on your Mom, Adele. Jerrys Mom is doing some better; but just not much appetite. She lost about 10 pounds while she was sick; and unlike me; she didn’t have it to lose. She is not a complainer; and it worries Jerry because she doesn’t complain. I know that sounds silly, but he feels she doesn’t feel good; but just won’t say so. I made a chocolate pie for her and we also made some cornbread and fresh beans; which she likes both; so she did eat a good amount of that. She ate the pie first; and I told Jerry that was fine; just as long as she was eating. She tires easily; but I know this is to be expected when she was so anemic.
Colleen, you give me too much credit when it comes to doing all the baking for others. It has a LOT to do with my chubby bits wanting sweets and I cook the goodies for me and use all my loved ones as an excuse LOL
We are going out to dinner with our neighbors tonight. Just to a small place in town; but I am looking forward to a nice evening out and to catch up. I think it will do us both good. So take care of yourselves and I know you all will be taking care of your loved ones. Have a good evening. Barbara

      Hi Gail,
Poor Greg he is going to feel like a pin cushion soon. That is too much blood to have taken. I understand why he would be tired of it. If he wasn’t anemic when they started he will be before they are done. lol I do not know why they have to take so much blood. I guess they have a good reason for it. Will be praying for him and that he gets answers soon.
You need to call the doctor and get some antibiotics for you sore throat and swollen glands. Get the meds before the infection gets really bad and you are stuck in bed again for a long time. Your grands will be missing you and wanting to see you. I hope that Jenny gets some good news from the back doctor. You are all having problems right now. Just take care of yourself and not just everyone else.
That is so cool that Brent will be home in May. I know that all of you will be excited to see him. I can just picture the grands when they see Uncle Brent again. They will be happy he is home for a visit.
We have been having really good weather here also. It is supposed to get colder over the week-end but no snow in our forecast. Wish there was so we can get that over with. For some reason I just cannot believe that we are not going to get some more cold weather before spring. It is just too early for this type of weather.
Maybe all the people that come to the concert can wear sunglasses. Then the stage lights will not blind them looking at the bald heads.lol I just cannot see the point in waxing their heads. That is a new one.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night and take care of yourself.

      Hi Adele,
I would almost be glad to see a sports car instead of another tractor. That is more then likely what he would bring home. We have enough tractors to start our own business. He bought 14 lawnmowers last week and he has been working on them trying to get them working. The man is going crazy. He is feeling better but still feels stuffed. It is probably because he has been working outside and he was not well yet. You know how men are. lol
I am sorry to hear about your shoulder pain. Sorry that the ice did not do much good. Maybe you will get to go to pt soon and they can help you get some relief from all that pain.
The straw or hay will just keep the roots from getting too cold. That is one of the main things that you have to worry about. We have two banana trees and a palm tree and that is what Ron does to keep them from freezing during the winter. It really works well. It would be hard to get the hay all the way up to the top of the tree. If it is around the bottom that will be a big help.
The Chew has really been boring this week. I do not think that they have had a recipe on yet that I would want to make. That is unusual most of the time they have something on that I would like to try. Maybe it will be better next week. I wonder what is going on with Daphne Oz. They said the other day that she had to go to Chicago for a family matter. Hope that everything is okay.
Hope things go well for Gary when he goes to the gastro. It would be nice if he would get some answers and not have to worry about it anymore. We have been trying something for our arthritis it is dark cherry juice. We get it at the health store and so far it has helped. My knee pain is not as bad and it helps with my back also. Ron uses it for hip pain. It is worth a try if you are interested.
It is sounding good for the glass ball and the trees. The snow should all be melted after this week-end if you keep getting all the warm weather.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Barbara,
You do bake for other people. You made a chocolate pie for your mil and beans and corn bread. That is really nice of you to do that for her. You also took the whole pie there so that was baking for someone else. You do a lot for people you are such a good person.
What is that saying. Life is short eat dessert first. lol Maybe that got her hungry enough to eat a lot of the beans and cornbread. That is nice that she ate a lot of that. She may say more to the people that work where she is at. She may not want to say a lot to Jerry because she does not want him to worry about her. I can see her being like that because you and Jerry have done so much for her. You kept her in her home for a lot longer then Jerry’s brothers would have.
Hope that you enjoy your dinner out tonight. It is nice that you are going out with neighbors. It is good to get out with friends our age and talk about things. Weren’t your kids and theirs friends when they were younger? That makes it nice because you can talk all that went on when they were younger.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen,
I cannot believe that you guys can have palm trees and banana trees. Your weather must be a lot milder than ours.
I could never just call the doctor’s office for a prescription. I would have to make an appointment and go in. Besides this is probably a virus and an antibiotic wouldn’t help anyway-and you don’t want to take them unless they are necessary as you don’t want to get a drug resistant bug developing. I will just wait and see how things progress. I feel a bit better but the fever keeps coming back at night. Now i have a cough-so we will see how things go. Sometimes just time and rest will take care of it.
We are supposed to get some snow on Saturday. Hopefully it won’t be much.
Well, I was joking around yesterday about the missing fish but it turns out they are really gone. Between the big and little pond we had about a hundred fish and they are all gone. So Greg did some research and it turns out we probably had a mink or minks which came and stole them. You don’t realize(especially in winter with ice cover) that they have been stealing your fish until the ice thaws and see your fish are gone. We have to keep a bubbler in the water in the winter to keep an area of ice open to keep the water oxygenated for the fish. The mink go through that hole and can swim underwater and catch the fish. The fish are sluggish in the winter because they are half hibernating and they are very easy to catch and have nowhere to hide. Once the mink get one they will keep coming back until all the fish are gone. So that’s what probably happened. It’s much easier for them to get the fish in the pond than to try and get them in the streams. Poor Greg is heart broken-those fish were his pets and would literally follow him from one side of the pond to the other. We had some really big koi in there-and they are not cheap and then we had some regular goldfish and maybe some crosses of koi and goldfish. They say that you can dye the water black and then the mink can’t see the fish but then you don’t really get to enjoy your pond either if the water is all black and you can’t see the fish. Even though our dogs were inside dogs i think just having them around kept a lot of animals out of the yard. The other night Greg went out to barbecue and he told me he thought two possums had taken up residence in the dog house in the dog pen. Later he said he thought he was wrong as he couldn’t see any way that they could get in. So I hope he’s right as when Callie and Mimi come over we put them in the pen when they have to go out and i wouldn’t want them to meet up with a possum out there. They are mean. At our old house one got inside our dog pen and Greg had to go out and flip it back over the fence with a shovel and it was hissing and snarling-it was scary.
Maybe we will have to get dogs again eventually just to keep the critters at bay. All I know is that poor Greg is really mad and sad about the whole situation. Damn minks!
I’m starting to feel like our back yard is like the African savannah-it’s eat or be eaten out there. I love living in the country but sometimes it’s tough to share with the wildlife when they mess with what we’ve created. If it’s not mink or herons in the pond it’s livestock on the green.

      Hi Gail,
They are a different type of banana and palm tree. They are not the big hardy ones that you see in warmer climates. We do not get bananas off our tree it just grows and it has the big leaves and the same with the palm. The leaves just grow really pretty and that is about it. The palms do not get as big as the banana tree does though. The only bad thing about them is you have to cut them down every fall. If not the winter weather could kill them. We have to cover then with hay and keep them like that until we are sure the weather is going to stay warm.
That is not good that you are getting snow this week-end. We are supposed to get rain but not until Monday. The week-end is supposed to be really cold and then warm up on Monday and rain and thunder storms. I cannot believe that Ron is going to the sale barn tomorrow. It usually is too cold to go there. He is going to try and sell some lawn mowers. We will see how they do there.
How terrible that the fish are gone. I did not know that minks would be around in the winter. You would think that it would be too cold. There must have been a few of them if they ate all those fish. Do you have muskrats around there also. We do around here. They like to eat fish and they are mean also. That would be bad to have all of those fish one day and then they are gone. You have had them for a long time. Hopefully you will be able to get some more and find a way to keep the other animals out. Possums can be mean. They get in the dog houses here and if they see any type of food on the deck they will come up on the deck to eat it. Sometimes when we have two dogs we have to feed one on the deck and the other somewhere else. So we had food on the deck and a possum came up there big as brass and was eating away. I do not remember how Ron got him off the deck. Didn’t one of the other girls that were on here have that trouble also. I cannot remember who it was.
I agree with you about Country life. You never know what will be hanging out in the yards. You would think that they would stay out in the woods but no such luck. Raccoons can be mean also.
I thought that you might have to take antibiotics for the swollen glands. I was not sure. Did not think about the cold with it. It is hard to have all of that going on at once. Just take care of yourself and rest all you can.
      Good night

      Hi Ladies,
Well, I’m gonna try this again. I lost my first post to the gremlins. You’re not gonna believe this but we are supposed to get snow flurries tonight into tomorrow AM!!! We are DONE with this winter!!! We should be in the low to mid 50s by this time of the month. We’re still in the low 40s for highs. We also
broke the record for rain for the month. Our record for 13 inches of rain came in 1996 when we had a pineapple express come thru, we got over 7 inches of rain in 4 days, causing major flooding. It held until earlier this week. The difference is the rain has been over a longer period of time this time. We could use some of that warm weather out here so we could dry out!!!

Adele, Adele, Adele, I almost slid off my sofa when I read your post about the straw! I’m not a farm girl but I knew she was referring to hay. LOL too funny!!
Did you cry at the end of This Is Us this week? We had to know it was coming, tho.

Gail, I’m so sorry to hear about your fish. I thought they were hibernating at the bottom & would resurface when the weather warmed up. It’s a terrible loss for you. Could you put some kind of screening over the hole? A fine gauge screening like we used to have on our screen doors growing up? I know its too late now, but for in the future? Something small enough that no critter could get thru. All I know about minks is people used to raise them for coats but that ended yrs ago, I’m sure.

That chocolate pie sounds delish. I should make myself one soon. You’re right, life is short, eat dessert first, yummm!!
I went to my cardiologist yesterday. I haven’t seen him in quite awhile. He’s set me up for a stress test & echocardiogram for March 10th. Not fun.

Are you guys watching the QF TSV tonight? I’d love to get a pair or 2, but not this time. I wish they had more colors, but I guess they have to put out a few to see how well they’ll sell before adding more colors. sigh.
Well, I better end this before I lose it again!
      Enjoy QF

      OMG, DD!!
I am killing myself laughing. I had no idea she meant hay. I am more of a city slicker than I thought. I am glad I gave everyone a good laugh, as laughing heals the soul.
I recorded This is Us…..now, I know i need at least a box of Kleenex to watch this episode.
We have your weather- i ti was 68 here yesterday. Today is supposed to be as warm, then it will dip over the weekend. I am so glad the rain stopped forr you. Enough, is enough.
I got out with my friends yesterday, and it was wonderful to be out. When I got home, I had to make lemon squares, as our granddaughter is coming tonight for her birthday, and she requested them. those are her favorite.
Hope your day is going well!

OMG, Colleen….I thought you meant straws you drink out of. Dd pointed that out to me, and once I realized you meant hay, I realized how much of a city slicker I really am…..LOL LOL
Ron is hysterical. What is he planning on doing with all the lawnmowers? Will he sell them? Maybe that is what he will do, become his own fix it, and sell it business. I do hope his cold is finally gone. You would think the fresh air would have helped it. I know when I have a cold, the fresh air seems easy to breathe in.
I can’t believe you actually have a banana and palm tree. That is wonderful. I would love to see those in my yard, but they would never live up here.
I missed the notice about Daphne. I hope all is ok with her family. It has been the most boring Chew week ever. I did not see the segment yesterday, and forgot to record it.
My shoulder pain stopped, so I am very happy about that. I am going to swiffer the floors today, so I will take it slow to make sure I do not pull anything.
Lunch was fun yesterday, and it was great to get out. I did not even have to wear a jacket- it was 68. Imagine 68 in February, in New England???
I did the lemon squares when I got home, and screwed one thing up. I was supposed to pre-bake the crust, and I totally forgot. So the crust is a little crumbly. Rachel is coming tonight, with her little brother, for her birthday, which was last week. The lemon squares are her favorite.
Hope your day is going well!

      Hi Colleen,
We had thunderstorms last night and are supposed to have snow tonight. No one is saying how much though but it’s just supposed to be overnight so probably it won’t be too bad.
I suppose the mink could have come every night since the pond froze over. It would be like going to the sushi bar for them. Poor Greg is really heartbroken as he is the one that really took care of them. He talked to our across the street neighbor who has a pond also and his fish are okay. However he has a different situation as he still has dogs and all his property is fenced so the dogs have the full run of it. I know dogs don’t keep everything away but they are a deterrent at least for a lot of the wildlife getting too close if the dogs are around.
I imagine we have muskrats too. It’s just that most of those animals are nocturnal so you don’t see them around too much.
That reminds me of a funny story. Where we used to live our neighbor had property behind our land that went down a hill and through some woods and then through some grass down to a stream. We were really good friends with our neighbors and they let us and our dogs walk their paths down to the creek whenever we wanted so after Greg got home from work we often took the dogs for a run down to the creek where they liked to wade in the water. So one day we were walking the path and luckily the dogs were on a different path and we turned a corner and there was a beaver walking on the path coming straight toward us. Well he was just as surprised as we were. Both of us (greg and i-and the beaver) turned around and started walking the other direction. lol Glad the dogs didn’t see it.
Sometimes the swollen glands do turn into tonsillitis and then I do need an antibiotic. I just hope the cough doesn’t turn into a respiratory infection. I took some mucinex last night and at least that loosened things up-but I was up all night coughing. Plus i was just awake and couldn’t sleep-probably from sleeping so much during the day. so now I am all turned around like a baby who wants to sleep all day and be up all night. (that was me as a baby-lol) I will probably poop out and have to take a nap later.
I think I might stay home from Jenny’s tonight-even though I hate to.
My SIL has been engaged for a couple of years now and she told me last night that they are finally setting a date for this fall. They each lost their spouse so it’s nice that they found each other and are happy again. She said they are getting married in a Catholic church so since she was not married in the church the first time since her husband was Jewish she has a whole bunch of extra paperwork to fill out. She says to me “I hope that you can make this one.” That was because when she got married the first time we were all set to go and spend the night away. My girlfriend was going to watch our kids and then Jenny came down with roseola and I had to stay home since she was contagious and I didn’t want her to get my girlfriends kids sick. So I definitely want to go to this wedding.

      Hi Barbara!
I am with Gail. I would eat the pis first too. I always say….”hey, I am an adult, I can eat dessert for any meal”. Gary loves chocolate pie. Do you serve it with whip cream on top?
I am so glad Jerry’s Mom is better. That poor thing. So awful to be so sick that you lose all that weight. Does not happen to me, I gain weight when I am sick, from lack of moving around. I am on o f the only people I know who can come out of the hospital, with a weight gain.
Hope you had fun at dinner last night. I had a lot of laughs at lunch. We all need that!
Read my post to Colleen, on how I screwed up the lemon squares….LOL I hope nobody notices.
Hope your day is going well….did you see the cute new short sleeve Quacker tops??

      OMG, Sue!!

Picture me running around, with a bag of straws, putting them around the base of my trees. I think I would have made the evening news.
My neighbors would have thought I either found out something they did not know, or was ready for the funny farm. LOL
I am still laughing about how I thought they were drinking straws. I believe I am losing my mind!

      Hey Gailster!
I have been laughing my butt off about the straw. Imagine if I ran out, and put them out there? not that I could run anywhere….LOL
Poor Greg! I hope they do not find anything awful. What makes them think it is a chemical in his blood? I certainly hope this will be the end of the poking for him.
Gary went to get all his blood work done for the gastro doctor, and then out to breakfast with our friend Al. Al has been very down about the stint they put in for dialysis. So far, they have not said it will be necessary, and he is hoping they will not have to use it. Diabetes can be awful.
Tillie is better, thank God. I came home with half of my dinner, so she was thrilled.
I hope your fish reappear. That would be awful if an animal ate all of them. Also hope the other critters are not in your dog houses.
Did you see the pretty square neck lighthouse shirts?
hope your day is bright, and that you and Greg feel better.

      Hi DD,
Those darn internet gremlins can be mischievous.
One good thing about all the rain out there was i did hear on the news today that California is now all caught up from their rain deficit and their drought.
I’m sure Greg is already researching how to keep mink out of pond. They suggested dying the water black and putting some sort of screening over the air hole-so we’ll see what will happen. Some of the koi were very large and we could not afford to replace them with such big ones as they all grew from little ones. We have given some of the fish away to people because we had so many and now we have none. It is sad and I feel bad for the fish who because they are sluggish in the winter were really at the mercy of a predator.
I grew up around two mink barns and they are nasty little animals. There are still places that raise mink for furs-just not as many because of all the Peta people in the US.
I had one of those stress tests a few years ago. My SlL had me all nervous because she is in good shape and exercises all the time and she was telling me how awful it was. So I figured I am older and out of shape and chubby so if she had a hard time how will I do this. But I managed-the nurse that was in there with me was an angel and helped me so much. And it was good to get the results afterwards and be given a clean bill of health.
We are now going from 70 on Wednesday to snow tonight and last night we had thunderstorms. What a weird winter this has been.

We have all really had our shares of funny weather haven’t we? It is cloudy here today, and about 70 degrees, but is cooling of and supposed to rain this weekend. DD, I am really glad about all that snow and ice finally stopping out your way; since our son is close to Sacramento, and we have been so worried about the I think it is called the Ore Dam, and all the terrible flooding going on. We do not do well with ice in our area; and that is what we tend to get here. I am terrified to try to walk on it; in fact; I just stay indoors. I worry about all of you that have to deal with ice and snow. Just the mention of it here causes people to act crazy and rush and push for groceries and gas. It is an absolute madhouse. We do not have the big equipment in our area of the country to put down salt or clear ice and snow like I think you all may have. Everyone be safe.
We have fish in our pond, Gail. We have to deal with beaver, and muskrats. Those muskrats eat our fish, and it really upsets Jerry. Ours are sort of like pets too. When we walk out to the pond, we throw out fish food and they just come running to the top of the water, and it just thrills us to watch them feed like a puppy would. When they see us standing by the pond they start coming to the top of the water and you can see the whole fish. Some of them are big. It just hurt Jerry so badly when he realized that all the small fish we were stocking the pond with was being eaten by those muskrats. And they look like giant rats; just awful. We have possoms here as well. And we had to get an automatic feeder to go on our patio for the dogs; because those possoms would hiss and snarl at our puppy dogs. They were vicious animals. I know they will play “dead” as a defense mechanism, but I am afraid of them. The boys found a mama possom with her babies on her back one day out back by our barn, and they just let her pass by so she didn’t hiss at them. I was so grateful they didn’t try to mess with her, because we MaMa’s get upset quickly over our little ones. LOL
Adele, I bet no one even noticed the crust on your lemon bars. Oh, how I love that tart taste of a good lemon bar. Yes, I do make whipped cream for the chocolate pies. None of the frozen stuff for my spoiled bunch. One thing I learned over the years is when you fix the “good stuff” first, they are spoiled from then on, and so is the baker. ha ha
Hope you are feeling better, Gail. I know it is old fashioned but I just gargle salt water in my “bag of tricks”. My Mama told me years ago that the salt would “kill the bad bacteria” and it does help me. So sorry your glands are swollen.I am with MawMaw in the eat dessert first group too. She loves my banana pudding; so I think I will make her some this weekend. I am trying to put weight on her. I have plenty of my own that she can have. Wish it was that easy. But I do love to decorate my chubby bits.
Take care all, and know that good wishes are coming to each of you and your families. Our poor itty bit has an ear infection; so we are so worried. He is the love of our life; but you all probably have figured this out already. What are your little grands up to? You do have to admit we Quackers just have a knack for having the sweetest children, grands, puppies, kitties, and good friends not to mention those handsome men in our lives. Take care. Barbara

      Hi Ladies,
Well, we dodged a bullet, the snow didn’t show up here. It probably did in the Cascade Mts, but not down here. Whew. It wouldn’t have been much anyway, they said. I’ll just be overjoyed when it’s all over with!!! It has been a crazy winter all around.
The dam you’re referring to Barbara, is the Oroville dam. I don’t know the exact location of it tho. I hope they have it under control. I heard they were going to fly boulders by helicopter & place them so as to control the water. I don’t know if it worked out or not.

I got a surprise in the mail this week. It was a recall notice from QVC. I bought my HP computer from the Q back in 2013 & the recall is about the battery inside the computer. They sent a list of the ID numbers but so far mine isn’t on the list. I’ve never gotten a recall notice from the Q before.
Is anybody going to watch the Oscars Sunday night? I don’t bother anymore. I don’t see any of the movies anyway so why bother. Besides I don’t know any of the stars.

So glad you did not get the snow. We are having bizarre weather- it was in the low 70’s yesterday, and the same today. It is supposed to go into the 50’s next week.
I am glad nothing awful happened with your laptop. Will they give you another one?
I am not sure we will watch the Oscars, because a lot of times it is real boring.

      Hey Barbara!
I totally agree with you. Our grands, and friends are the best ever. We just attract sparkly people.
You are so right- nobody noticed the crust was not flaky at all. They just ate them, and the kids took some home for their mother to.
We went to do our taxes this am, and then went to a very, very late breakfast. Gary enjoyed that.
We are going to brunch with our friends tomorrow too. Gary is in his glory, with all these brunches this weekend.
Poor Itty Bitty. an ear infection is the worst for the poor things. They completely stop taking their bottles, as that really bothers them with an ear infection. I hope the antibiotic works fast. We will all say a prayer for the little muffin.

DD- forgot to add- those pictures are so beautiful.

Hope evryone is having a good weekend.

Wow Adele I can’t believe you are still in the 70’s. We had 74 yesterday but it is 47 now with rain and wind. Tomorrow is to be blustry and in the 30’s. I sure hope the power doesn’t go out.

Did you buy anything from the Quacker shows yesterday? I got the TSV and a shirt. Did you see the shirt with the duck? I remember someone wanted a shirt with a duck but do not remember who . It was very cute.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope you’re having a great weekend. It’s sunny here today. Not warm, but sunny nonetheless. Rain is returning overnight. Not the heavy stuff we had a week or so ago.
Did y’all catch the last QF show last night with Angel & Antonella?? Angel was getting rummy & Antonella was her usual boisterous self. Did you catch the shirt with the ‘little yellow duck” all decked out? It went like a snap. I hope they bring it back when I can afford to get one. They sure had a lot of tops I’d love to have!!! Maybe I’ll get a pair of those pedal pushers when I can afford it. (should I live that long, lol).

No nothing happened with the computer. If this battery was dangerous I’d have gotten a replacement for it at no charge. For the most part I don’t use the battery. I plug it into the wall & use it that way.
Adele, I’m sorry if I ruined it for you with This Is Us the other day! I didn’t mean to ruin it for ya.
I have a hankering for some chocolate chip cookies, so I think I’ll sign off & go make a batch.

I did not see the shirt with the ducks. i did not get to see the whole show, as the kids came. I hope they will show it again too.

i got the square neck elbow sleeve shirt in black, and the very pretty cardigan in black too. A black one has so much versatility with our Quacker clothes. i can even wear it with one of the star tanks they did last year.
your choices were very pretty too. i get every pair of crops they sell, as they fit me perfect as long pants, and no hemming….LOL
It is raining here, and we may even have a thunderstorm- going down to the 40’s tomorrow. This is nuts.

      Hi Gail,
Since you had the thunderstorms hope that the snow missed you. We are just cold here no snow or rain. I think that we are in need of some rain now. It has been too dry and we did not get enough snow to mention.
I hope that Greg can figure out a way to keep the minks away from the pond next year. I wonder if you put a screen over where you put he hole for the tube would help. They may be able to chew thru it though. I do not know a whole lot about minks. They have cages to catch muskrats and beavers wonder if they have one for minks. The only bait you would need is some type of fish. That is a shame that they got the fish. Hope that it does not discourage Greg from getting more.
That is funny about coming face to face with a beaver. What makes it funnier is that you both turned around and walked the other way. It was good that the dogs did not see it they probably would have wanted to fight with it. Well they would have thought that they were playing and the beaver would have been wanting to fight. Unless he would have run from the dogs.
How nice that your sil is going to get married. It will be nice if you can make it. You probably will this time around. Will she have a big wedding or just a small one? They have been engaged for a long time but if they both lost a spouse it must have been a hard decision to get married again. They do make it difficult to get married in the church. I thought that if you got married in another church that it did not count and you could get married in the Catholic church. I guess things have changed. This time you will not have to worry about sick kids. They usually get sick every time there is something special going on. I do not know how they time it like they do. lol
I hope that you are feeling a little better now. It is bad if that turns into tonsillitis. That is really painful. I still get swollen glands once in a great while. They are not any fun either. Just take care of yourself and rest all that you can.

      Hi Adele,
That is funny that you thought it was straws. That would be a lot of work and would not help the trees much. We all have days like that. I should have said hay instead of straw. That was my fault. It still is a little funny.
He will try and sell them. He does more fixing and buying then he does selling. He went to the sale barn on Friday and sold two or three lawn mowers and then turned around and bought two more. So we are not doing very well at getting rid of them. It is a little early to be selling lawn mowers but the way our weather has been we may have to start cutting grass sooner then we think.
Part of what happens here is if there is a lot of wind a lot of pollen and stuff blows around. Do not know for sure what things are blowing in the air right now but there is always something. It is from all the trees that we have and weeds and stuff. His cold is better now though. Just hope that he does not catch it from someone else now. We think that this all started with the grands. Owen was coughing and had a runny nose the last time we saw him and then Ron started.
I will try and get a picture of them on here to show you. We do not get any bananas on it though because it is not warm enough here for that to happen. It would be nice if it would. The banana tree gets a lot bigger then the palm tree does. I am not sure if we have a picture of that one though. My grand daughters are supposed to come over here soon and I will have them try and put the picture on here for me.
Friday Mario made a stuffed meat loaf that I am going to try. You stuff it with egg plant and cheese it looked really good so thought I would try it. Hope that Ron will like it he is not much of an egg plant eater. I have two meals planned for next week Ron will be surprised.
I did end up getting the duck shirt that they had on the q. They did have every size but the xs and s. I was surprised that they still had them in stock. Aliza will like that shirt she likes ducks.
I am glad that your shoulder has finally stopped hurting. Now you will be able to get a decent nights sleep. You are already baking again. You bake more then any other grandma that I know. That is how you keep the grands coming back. You are always making good meals and bake goods. lol I am sure that they come for more reasons then that.
Glad that you finally go to get outside. It is nice to go to lunch with friends. Wow your weather really did change quickly. Our weather here is really cold right now. It is supposed to get down in the 20’s tonight. Hope that they are wrong but as cold as it was today they probably were right.
Well that is about all from here tonight. Have a good one.

      Hi Barbara,
I am sorry to hear that Colin is sick. Poor little guy It is so hard when babies are sick because they cannot tell you how they feel. We are all lucky with the grands and kids that we have. God has really blessed us all. It is nice to have all the good friends that we have in our lives. The friends that we have made on this site are the best.
That is sad that you have animals eating your fish also. That is just what we have to put up with living out in the country. We do not have a pond for fish at all. Ron did want one at first but changed his mind. I am glad that he did. We have a neighbor that has beavers that come and build a dam in theirs. They had to hire someone to come and catch them. They take them somewhere else but I have no idea. I do not know if they will come and get muskrats or not. Possums are scary. You never know how they are going to behave. Raccoons are mean like that also.
Is it still flooding in California? Hope that it stops soon. Those poor people they either do not have enough rain or they get so much that it floods. It is not as pleasant to live there as it seems.
You take care also. Have a good night.

I did see the show with Angel and Antonella. I like her she is so funny. They really did have a lot of cute things on that show. I did get the duck shirt though. It was so cute. They still have a lot of them left though.
The pictures that you posted are so cute. I love the one with the puppies looking in the window at the kittens. That is such a good picture. The flowers are always so cheerful. It will be nice when they start to bloom here.
That is good that you dodged the snow this time. They do not handle the snow that well there. We still have not had any and our warm weather is gone for a little while. It was really cold today but it was windy and that always makes it colder. This has been a strange winter.
I have never got a recall notice from qvc either. At least it is not your lap top that has the problem. Just be careful with it in case. I do not think that I have heard of lap tops having problems before I know that they recalled some cell phones because the batter was catching on fire.
We are not going to watch the Oscars either. They do not have the stars like they use to have. They do not wear the beautiful gowns like they use to either. Ones that covered the whole body and not ones that let everything hang out. Do not know why they think that is cute.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Sue
I am so sorry about your neighbor. That is awful. Was she sick? That poor thing.
Well, those sizes will definitely not fit my chubby bits…LOL I will look at it, anyway.
I missed in the Kitchen with Dave- I have to see what he had on the show too, in case I missed any cool gadget.
We stayed a long time at the brunch, as they had a band, and it was so pretty there- right on the ocean. The lady took our picture, and you may be able to see it on Facebook, because Winnie, my buddy, has always liked their web page, and they were thrilled to meet her in person today.
The name of the place is The Wharf, or The Landing, in Revere, Ma. The old name was the Wharf, but they changed it recently.
Hope you are ok, so sorry about your neighbor.

      Hey Colleen!
I hope you do get some pictures on here, we would love them.
It is not your fault at all that I misunderstood. It was one of the funniest things I have done all week….LOL LOL We all need a good chuckle!
I bet Ron did get it form the grands. Our Amanda now has mono. Everyone is staying away form Heather, Dave and Amanda, just in case. She was real sick last week, and seems to be getting little better this week. She intends to go back to work tomorrow, and we all think it is not a good idea.
I have a better idea for the stuffed meatloaf. (since Ron does not like eggplant) My Nonna used to put a layer of American cheese, and salami, and then repeat another layer of the same. So, when you cut it, you see 2 rows of the salami/cheese, and it was delicious. So, you put the meatloaf, then a layer of the filling, then more meatloaf, then another layer of filling, and then the top layer is meatloaf.
that dam shoulder of mine, hurts on and off. When it is really achy, i take the Alleve. I go back to the doctor this week.
We stayed a long time at the restaurant for the brunch today- talked and talked, and they had a band playing. It was very nice.
It is back int he 40’s here for now.
Hope your day is going well, and that Ron has all the lawnmowers ready for a big sale.

Hope everyone is feeling better and enjoying their Sunday. It is colder here and to get even colder then those storms will be blowing in I think they said on Tuesday. That is our pattern for this area, and as scared as I am of Ice I am even more scared of storms. I guess each of us have our own unique weather things that we are dealing with, and each day brings something new for us. Colleen, I heard those dreaded words that make me shiver yesterday from Mr. Jerry, quote “I have GOT to get out there and get the tractor all ready/ the field is growing already” It makes me sick every time I hear those words every year; because I never know what he will be up to but I do know it will end up with him doing something to himself or us having to spend some money on tractor parts. That is the one thing I dislike about this country living is besides the creepy crawlers is the fear I have of him hurting himself and or doing something he shouldn’t do.’
Sue, sorry to hear of you losing your neighbor. It always hurts us doesn’t it?
Poor little Colin is still sick. We are worried, but very little we can do. Wish I could take the hurt away.
Take care everyone, and especially take care of yourselves. We all have so many people who really need us in some way. Barbara

      Hi Adele,
Well it is not unusual for someone to misunderstand when you tell them to use straw. I am a city girl also did not know anything about that type of stuff until I met Ron. He has lived in the country all his life. The only time that he has lived in the city for any length of time is when we got married. So it was only fair that I moved to the country with him. Now I would not live anywhere else.
Amanda is planning to go back to work or Heather? It must be hard to be off work for that long of a time. Just hope that she does not spread it to other people. We have a woman that works in our Dollar Store that stands way back if she thinks one of the customers are sick. I had to laugh at her when she was talking to me. Made me wonder if she was sick. lol
The stuffed meat loaf with salami sounds really good also. We already bought the stuff to make the egg plant on but will try the salami one next time we have meatloaf. Ron will eat it, it just is not his favorite. I fixed a roast today in the slow cooker and I put the pork roast, potatoes, onion and cabbage in the pot to cook together. It turned out really good. Will put that recipe in the recipe box and make it again.
That is hard when your shoulder hurts like that. That is good that the Alleve works for you, Ron takes that when he is hurting. I never know for sure what to take. Did you get to order the duck shirt from quacker? They had sizes medium thru 3x when I ordered mine. I ordered over the computer. I missed it in the show. Do not know how I missed it must have been watching something else when they showed it.
The place where you went for brunch sounds really nice. It is nice that they were playing music. That can make it more relaxing in a restaurant when they play music. We use to go to a place where they use to play piano. That place has closed though it was really a shame. It was not in as nice a setting as the place where you went though.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Barbara,
Storms scare me also. At least when it snows you can stay inside and not have to worry about going out. If it is a bad storm it can do a lot of damage. That is scary. Hopefully the storms will go around you and you just get some rain if you need it.
It is scary when they are going to go out and work on things. Ron ran over his foot with the lawn mower once and cut his foot up. He was lucky that he was wearing work boots and they protected his foot. We could probably stay on here and talk about some of the things that Jerry and Ron have done to hurt themselves. Ron has not started the tractor yet but that will happen soon. He wants to knock down some more trees so our pines can grow. We will both have to be praying all summer and spring for them.
Poor little Colin. Hope that he gets better soon. Is he still on medicine for it? That should start to help him soon. He has had it for a long time or it seems like it. Is he cutting teeth yet? Aliza started early she has a few now. That is a rough time when they start to do that. We will be praying that he gets over his ear infection soon
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

      Hi Everyone,
DD that stargazer lily reminds me of a recent conversation we had about flowers. We were saying that the flowers from the florist no longer have the beautiful smells that they used to because of hybridazation. Well in the bouquet I got for Valentine’s Day neither the roses or the carnations smelled but the stargazer lilies did-so at least they haven’t tampered with them too much yet.
I had a recall from QVC before on a Christmas tree-fortunately we didn’t have to send the whole tree back as that would have been a pain-we had to cut the cord and send that in and then they processed a refund. It seems like I may have had something else recalled too but I can’t remember right now.
Barbara, I’m so sad that little Colin is not feeling better. Poor little guy. I hope that he will feel better soon.
Sue, I was the one who wanted the duck shirt. However, what I had asked for was just a little duck on the left shoulder with the word Quacker written underneath it in rhinestones. However, I did buy this new one that they had and am still hoping for the other.
So sorry to hear about your neighbor.
Colleen, we just got a little dusting of snow the other night and it’s already all gone so that wasn’t bad at all.
I will have to ask my SIL if it will just be family at her wedding or if they will be inviting a lot of friends too.
Adele, that seaside brunch sounded so nice. On the water with a band playing-it’s good to get out and kick up your heels. I feel like we have not done anything much at all this winter. I feel like I have been in pajamas or lounge clothes all winter with being sick so often.
I sure hope Amanda knows what she’s doing. She should make sure that she is not still contagious before she goes back to work. I was sick with mono for a very long time. However, she is younger and probably bounces back quicker but make sure her doctor gives her an okay to return before she goes back-she does not want a relapse.
You girls would have thought this was so funny. Last night my husband ( who hasn’t changed his style of dress since 1970) and I were critiquing the Oscar fashions. Actually for such an unfashionable guy he did have a pretty good eye for what was nice-but I guess i do forget that he also draws and paints so he should have some sort of artistic vision. Anyway, just the fact that we were doing that together was giving me the giggles.

You hit the nail right on the head. We certainly do have a lot of people who need us. That is one of my prayers every night- to let me be good enough to help people.
I hope Jerry does no do anything that will make you nuts this year, or hurt himself out there.

      Hey Colleen!
I am dying to hear how the meatloaf comes out today. I love eggplant.
I am doing the other chicken thigh recipe I got off one of my emails. This one has a couple of tablespoons of honey, balsamic vinegar, and some thyme, plus salt and pepper. I did not have balsamic vinegar, but I have apple cider vinegar, so I hope it works….LOL LOL If they like this one, I will put the balsamic vinegar on the list for next time. I hope I did not screw it up withe the other vinegar. I figured there is not much difference in the flavored vinegar’s. It may make an interesting story for tomorrow.
I did get that shirt. I misunderstood everyone- my size was still available. I got one for Tillie too.
It is Amanda who is goign back to work with the mono. The doctor wrote a note to stay out of work for only one week.
Hope your day is going well, and Ron is not getting into any trouble.

      Hey Gail!
I feel the same way, all my Quacker clothes were just sitting in the drawers. Now that the snow is gone, I can go out again. I have a lunch planned for Wednesday, up in Gloucester.
I forgot to tell you ladies. Manchester by the Sea was one of the towns I served when I worked. so all those streets you see, I was on, for over 30 years…LOL
Amanda’s doctor wrote the note to stay out of work for only one week. Who does that? I am so worried about her going back so early.
      Hope you are feeling better!!!
It is colder again here today. Still not bad, considering it is winter.

      Hi Ladies,
Did any of you catch the end of the Oscars last night when they went to announce the best movie? Talk about a HUGE blunder!!! I thought it was some kind of a joke at first. But come to find out it wasn’t!!! In case you haven’t heard, they announced to wrong movie as the winner.

Adele, why would any Dr write a note telling her to stay out of work for a week with mono??? the dr should have their license pulled!! I never heard of such a thing. I’ve never had mono but I know you’re ill for several weeks.
You lost me when you spoke about serving on the streets of Manchester by the Sea, where you worked over 30 yrs. (Did that come out right??)!

I hope the baby is feeling better now.
Speaking of babies, the little Iranian baby has had the surgery she needed & is now healing. She’s the one I spoke about last month that wasn’t allowed into the country due to the executive order to refuse foreigners in. I was ready to blow a gasket over that!!! But she was allowed in after all.

We are having the strangest weather out here. snow is still around & not just in the higher elevations. Seattle was having snow, thunder snow & all kinds of nasty weather. They don’t get snow this late in the yr, just like us. some areas around here are still seeing snow flakes but I haven’t seen any. It just doesn’t seem to get any warmer.
I guess that’s it for now.
      talk to ya later.

      Hi Gail
That was nice that you did not get a lot of snow. We still have not gotten any. It is raining here right now. It was supposed to wait until tomorrow and then we were supposed to have thunder storms. I like this a lot better.
It would be nice if they did the duck shirt that you requested. I like that with it being on the shoulder like a broach. I did order the one that they had on the air it was really cute. Aliza will like that one. She likes ducks.
The way they do things now is if you do not have a fever you can work. That does not mean that a person will not get sick while working. They do the same things at the schools around here. That is why they spread germs like they do. Use to they would give people time to heal before they would want them back at work or at school. It is all about the money.
That is funny that Greg could pick out the best dressed. Most men would not be good at that. I can just picture you sitting there trying not to laugh at him. He may not have ever did that again. Men can be so funny sometimes.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
The recipe for the meat loaf is a keeper. Ron even liked it and he usually does not like egg plant. So it may be worth a try for your group. I did not use as much meat as they called for that would have been way too much for just us. I also made it to our taste like we use mozzarella cheese and not the parmasian cheese. Never did like it that much. I know that I spelled that word wrong.
Like you I do not think it matters which type of vinegar you use. It all has that tangy taste. Your chicken really sounds good. If you like it you should put in on here and we can try it. The meat loaf is on the Chew website so you can find it there.
I was surprised that they still had some left. They were so cute. Maybe because they showed them on the last show and some people may not have been watching. If they see it on the web site they may buy it out.
Sure hope that Amanda does not get sick from going back to work too soon. I think that it is just the way work does things like that now. They do the same in schools around here. No wonder we spread germs like crazy now days.
      Have a good night.

      Hi DD,
We did not see the Oscars but we did see the mistake on the news. That must have been terrible for all those people to go up on stage and then have to get back off and give back the Oscars. They were all very gracious about it though
You are still getting our weather and we are getting yours. It was chilly for a couple of days but tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 70’s again. It is raining here right now. We can use the rain since we did not get any snow. Would be glad to take any snow that anyone wants to send our way. lol
Those flowers are so pretty. All of our Easter flowers are blooming already. That is kind of sad that they will be gone way before Easter gets here. May have to buy some and put them on the table for a decoration.
Well that is about all from here. How did you tests come out? Have they taken them yet? Hope everything is okay will be praying that they are.

      Hi DD,
I caught the Oscar’s snafu. It’s too bad as it kind of took the wind out of the sails of the winning movie.
I’m glad that little Iranian baby is doing well. How awful it would have been if they wouldn’t have relented and let her in for the surgery.
That picture of the iris that is teal and turquoise and pink is just amazing. I would love to see a real flower that looks like that.

      Hi Adele,
I guess Jenny’s whole family has influenza now-so I don’t know if we gave it to them or they gave it to us. I will have to find out if they gave them any meds-if so I guess I will go see the doctor as I still have a cough. But if it’s a virus that you just have to wait out there’s no sense in going.
I am waiting for the guys to deliver the couch and kitchen table today. The other chair and ottoman are not in stock yet. I think we may have to raise the light over the kitchen table as this is a higher table.
Is Manchester By The Sea the full name of the town? So you saw clients in that area? I will have to see the movie now just to see what it looks like.
How did Amanda do at work? I’ll bet she was tired by the end of the day.
I’m glad that you’re getting out to lunch again.

      Hi Colleen,
Do you have flowers blooming outdoors already. Wow! What is blooming? Will you still get more frost or are you past that point now?
We are supposed to get rain today-maybe even storms. I hope we won’t get the storms though.
So tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and Easter is pretty late this year. That’s good maybe the weather will be better for Easter egg hunts.
Nothing much new around here. I am waiting for the couch and the kitchen table to be delivered. Jenny doesn’t want the old couch so now we have to figure out a way to get rid of it. Used to be they would take your old furniture when they delivered the new but not anymore. If Jenny doesn’t take the old table Greg will use it out in the barn for a workbench and I think Jenny will take the old chair and ottoman for her basement. If we lived in town we could put the couch by the curb and put a sign on it that said free and someone would take it.

      Hi DD!
I did see the Oscars. that was pretty crazy at the end.
I was a social worker. I worked with the foster parents, and did the licensing, approvals, and monitoring, of the homes. My area was the Cape Ann area of Mass., which is the North Shore coastal communities. It is a beautiful area to do home visits, and that was always the good part- to visit my foster homes, and see how the kids were doing. There were many times I laughed, and a lot that I cried. Some of the things the children said to me will stay with me forever. They all have a special bond in my heart.
Amanda stopped by today. I have to say, she does not look good. She is very pale, and has bags under her eyes. She said yesterday was tough, but she made it through her shift. She is scheduled every other day this week, so she can rest. She said he spleen was swollen, but it went back down. She has lost 30 pound since the last month. I think this went un-diagnosed for a bit, hence the weight loss. She was goign back home to sleep.
Hope your weather is good, and you are having a good day!

      Hi Colleen!
Well, Bobby and Tillie thought it was ok. Gary said it had an “after taste”. I think it would have been better with the amicably one, so I am doing it again next week, with the right one, and then I will have my final decision….LOL
I was dying t see today’s Chew. they were doing the Mardi Grass one, and it got cut off by an airplane crashing into an apartment complex in Methuen, Ma. That is way north of us. I hope nobody got killed. Either way, the Chew did not happen. Was there anything good on today?
Read my post to DD for the Amanda up-date. Me and Tillie got her a Pajama Gram, and it has to go back, because it is way too big. i was able to reorder the pj’s in a smaller size, so that is good.
how are the grands? I just heard JJ will be involved in a theater thing at school. I am so excited, you have no idea! I hope he loves it.
How are all your grands doing? Are you feeling ok too?
      Happy Fat Tuesday everyone!

      Hey Gail!
read my other posts for the Amanda up-dates. She stopped by for a minute today to say hi. She did not kiss us….LOL She looks awful, the poor thing. I am so worried about her working this week. She is not feeling good about it either.
It seems everyone, in every state is sick. I hope you get something for your cough, as that can go into bronchitis. I hope Jenny’s family gets better soon. So miserable to be sick.
I hope your furniture arrived with no incidents. I have never had a delivery that did not include a storm- snow or rain. I hope you have better luck.
Manchester by the Sea is right next to Gloucester- it is right on the coast on the North Shore if Mass- called the Cape Ann area. It is such a beautiful area of Mass. It was always a pretty ride, to visit any foster home I had, especially in the Fall.
I have a funny story about one visit in the winter. I had a joint visit with another social worker one day, and we were waiting and waiting, and she did not arrive. Called her, and she said she cannot get up there in the storm. (I knew it was goign to snow by the time I was on my way home, at end of day that day) We thought she was nuts. There was not one drop of snow in Gloucester that day. Well, as I started the trek home, I began to run into the snow, and it took me 3 hours to get home- should have been a 45 minute trip. moral of the story….always call when a storm is predicted, before you do a home visit….LOL LOL It seems Cape Ann has it’s own weather, either better, or worst than the predictions.
So, tomorrow, Nancy and I are goign up to Gloucester for lunch. Thunder storms are predicted for late afternoon. We better get our butts home before it starts. We are meeting at 11:30, so we should be good.
Hope you are sitting in your new furniture, and not coughing anymore!!
